anybody that went through the floods that we had recently
in the Northern Territory will know that Trent was absolutely
instrumental in much of what was going on in terms
of the cleanup and notifying people of what's going on.

Good morning again, Cash. Yeah, you started getting messages about
these so overnight, really, didn't you.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yeah, that's right, and you know you can just these
days look online and you can see just what they
were doing. Like, it really did blow me away that
it was vision daylight of them doing this. So they've
pinched this car pretty much during daylight hours, possibly while
someone's at work, and then they've driven around for hours. Now.

(00:48):
The police have obviously said that they did a risk
assessment and due to the timing of it and the
risk to the public, they didn't engage in a pursuit,
which is what these kids wanted. But then it took
until nine pm FO to come to a stop because
they basically crashed into a fence.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Absolutely crazy and then to hear from Trent. You know
these families there that are at sport, they're trying to
get home. Can you imagine the consequence if they'd have
hit another car and killed innocent people? And unfortunately, yeah,
and unfortunately. You know, we have seen that happen in
the Northern Territory. Just in Catherine not too long ago

there was a car allegedly stolen, a fatal crash and
you just think you don't have to look too far
through history. In fact, oh you've got to look is
six months, maybe a year or so, and you can
see some of the stuff that's been dealt with. It
is just like, it's horrendous.

And our text line is being hammered by people in
Catherine who are just fed up. And a couple of
them are like, you know, if a car crash already
that killed a young kid hasn't made an impact on
other kids who are stealing a car and the risks
involved with it, what.

Northern Territory Police have charged a forty nine year old
man in Alice Springs in relation to a fatal road
incident that occurred in Darwin in February twenty twenty four,
where a male pedestrian was struck by an oncoming vehicle
and died as a result of his injuries. According to police,
following a complex investigation and acting on recommendations from the
coroner and the DPP, the offender, who was also a

pedestrian at the time, has been charged with one count
of manslaughter. He's been remanded in custody to appear in
the Alice Springs Local Court today. In fact, the detective,
acting Senior Sergeant Richard Musgrave said the investigation remain committed
to ensuring the matter was thoroughly investigated. Northern Territory Police's

newest drug detection dog Uno has struck again, helping officers
uncover almost half a kilo of cannabis, seventeen edged weapons
and suspected stolen property during a targeted operation in Pine
Creek yesterday around midday. The Catherine Dog Operations Unit, supported
by several other units executed a search warrant at a
town camp. As officers entered the property, a fifty one

year old man was located inside a campavan with UNO
deployed quickly providing several positive indications, leading to police to
locate and seize about four hundred and fifty grams of cannabis,
three grams of gold nuggets believed to be proceeds of crime,
seventeen edged weapons including three prohibited weapons, and approximately seven
hundred and eighty dollars in cash. A fifty one year

old Pine Creek man was issued with a notice to
appear and charged. And Bushfires NT is reminding territorians that
many bushfires are preventable following a number of avoidable incidents
already during this season. The reminder comes as a fired
danger period is in effect for the Carpenteria East, Barkley,
North Berkley South, including Darwin, Catherine and TenneT Creek. Crews

have responded to several fires sparked by lawn mowers, while
other incidents have been linked to residents burning small household
rubbish piles. Although these fires often start small, they can
rapidly spread through dry grass and quickly develop into larger incidents.

that were waiting to chat to the cops police apparently
didn't turn up to that event. So we will ask
