Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yesterday, we received this email after we got off air,
actually it was this morning we received this email from
our intext now. They'd said they'd heard the interview that
we've done yesterday with the Lord Mayor and regarding the
post cyclone cleanup, and their director immediately sprung into action
on how they might be able to help the community

(00:20):
and in particular the elderly and the vulnerable. Now, part
of their business is skip and hook bins and they've
reached out to the councils to offer those bins and
logistics services for no charge. They said they'd like to
understand some more strategic locations that they may be able
to place those bins for greenways to.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Try and help the community. What a great thing to do.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Now, joining us live on the line is Eileen Breen,
Ntech's business development manager.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
Good morning, Eileen.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Good morning Katie.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Lovely to have you on the show now.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Eileen, tell me you guys heard the interview with them
yesterday and you probably heard us talking about well, some
of the seniors and others that are in a tough
spot at the moment with so much green waste.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Look definitely and you know when we hear things like
that we're part of a community and that's probably one
of the best things about living in the Northern Territory,
in the Greater Darwin area is how people pull together.
And we've got this skill set in waste management and
we thought, well, we could actually be part of the solution,
and we got the team together. What could we do
and our skip bins and our hook bins that we

(01:32):
generally used just for recyclable waste construction and demolition waste,
we said we could offer those to the vulnerable, to
the seniors in particular, who just don't have a way
of getting their green waste too hidden valley.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
You bloody legends. Now, did you then contact the councils?

Speaker 2 (01:49):
What did you do next?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah, we contacted the waste management team at the City
of Darwin. We have a really good relationship with them,
so they're very keen to see how we might be
able to work together to take our skip and hook
bins to some strategic locations because it's really understanding where
they need to go, where can they best be of use.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Yeah, well, and this is the thing just to try
and make it a bit easier for territorians, which I
know happened after cyclone Marcus.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Yeah, that's right, you know, and this is the beauty
when we all pull together. And we're seeing examples of
that over the last couple of days. As you said,
neighbors helping cut up trees. Maybe your rain tree. I
did watch that on social media. Hit your cubby house.
We've locked about a dozen trees on our own property.
You know, it's just how it goes. But really, you know,

(02:42):
we came off pretty lightly, but there's still a big
clean up to do, and you know, we just really
believe in being part of the solution.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, you're so right. You know, like we're all territory tough.
We're a very resilient bunch. We all understand that we're
going to lose trees and things like this are going
to happen in a side and we're all doing so
much to try and help one another. It will just
be wonderful if we can make it a little bit
easier for people to then be able to get rid
of that green waste.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah. Look absolutely, so you know, hopefully we come up
with some information about where those bins might go and
how that's going to work. We have the logistics to
pick the bins up and yeah, hopefully you will see
across Darwin and text bins. Look out for the big
red bins with then text code read, which is our

(03:31):
recycling facility. Yeah, and hopefully we can give a hand.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
Well, Eileen, I hope so, I really do.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
We're going to catch up with the sea of the
City of Darwin in a couple of minutes time, so
we'll certainly be asking about it. Because as I say,
I know after cyclone markers there was skip bins around
the place.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
There was also verge collection.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
There was quite a bit that the council had done
to really try to make sure that you know that
they help people out because I think the other side
of this is if it's not a little bit easier
sometimes and what you start to see is people dumping
things illegally.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Exactly. We've got to make it as easy as possible
and we can do that. We've got a really great
waste industry and recycling industry across down in the Northern
Territory and I can see they're all stepping up to
do their bit.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Yeah, your spot on, Eileen.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Lovely to talk to you, and what a great team
of territories you must have working for you.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
As well.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
If everybody's sort of heard that and thought what can
we do to help?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Oh, they're brilliant. They're probably all listening in now, so
big shout out to the Text and tex Code Red team.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Oh good on them.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Eileen, thanks so much for having a chat with me
this morning and that really kind offer.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
I really appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Thank you, Thank you.
