Specialist Police have just wrapped up day two of the
renewed search for missing Ballarat mother Samantha Murphy. Detectives are
acting on fresh information, focusing on an area of dense bushland.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Carrying equipment you'd find in the back shed. This was
no garden variety search. Instead, police used shovels, rakes and
hoes to pull apart Enfield State Park looking for Samantha Murphy.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
It's unclear publicly.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Why this isolated bush is suddenly a place of interest.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Half are in direct and we go.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Every time they found something of note, they'd call over
a colleague to check it out before moving on.
Speaker 4 (00:49):
We've conducted a number of searches in that area to
date to no avail. We will continue to focus on
that investigation until we get resolution.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
The Urgency Service also joined today's search for the Ballarat
mother of three who went missing in February last year.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
It's remote, no phone reception and very quiet.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
This is another search that is based on more intelligence.
The more intelligence that would in the cut that we
need to conduct more work in that area.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
This search is in the same state park as some
of the other searches for Samantha Murphy, but This one
is about five kilometers from the most recent attempt to
find it. This part of the map is roughly half
an hour's drive from the Murphy family home where she
left for a run one morning and never came home.

Patrick Orn Stevenson has been.

Charged with murder, but will fight the charge when his
trial starts in April.
