Maroons Origin bolter, SCG turf war, Piastri's close calls

Gehamat Shibasaki will debut for Queensland in next week’s State of Origin decider, with coach Billy Slater calling his selection an inspiring story. The 26-year-old returned to Brisbane this year on a train-and-trial deal.

The AFL will decide later this week if the SCG is fit to host Sunday’s Swans-Dockers game, after damage from an Andrea Bocelli concert raised concerns.

Oscar Piastri finished second behind McLaren teammate Lando Norris at the Austrian GP, surviving two close calls. He now leads the drivers’ championship by 15 points.
