And much loved radio announcer Ronnie Sparks is being remembered
as a national radio treasure. His broadcasting journey began in
the nineteen seventies and finished at WSFM in twenty seventeen.
Jonesy has paid tribute to his friend and former colleague
who's passed away, saying Ronnie would very much appreciate a
little shout out on the airwaves once again.

Well nineteen seventy eight school excursions to the TWOSM at
Blue Point ride there and Ronnie was adj on air.
He used to hate me bringing that up when we
ended up working together. We worked together when I was
at Triple M and he was at two Day. We're
up against each other. And then when he came up
to WS he convinced management to take me on at

WS as well. And so you know, he was an
idol and he was a colleague and he was a mate,
and like we certainly had to have some need of words,
but we always ended up having a laugh afterwards. It
was just he's like when people say old school radio,
you know you think you guys you were cranny and
Ronnie Sparks, and Ronnie Sparks has just we've lost the

national radio treasure. It was very dry off are, very
very I used to say, mate, you should just be
on talkback radio. Just let fly with your opinions and
your stuff. Because he was from that era where you
didn't really share much on air about yourself. That that
was the time in the early days. Now everyone blabs
about themselves, but back in those days you didn't. But

off air, gee, he was funny. Of course Ronnie would
love fuss about him because we used to a lament
like radio and announcers used to be big deals, like
big deals, and then all of a sudden it got
taken over by celebrity, real estates and chefs, and then
and then after that, now it's I don't even know.
We don't even exist anymore. So for tribute to Ronnie Sparks,
