Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah yeah yeah, real floor, Yeah yeah yeah, Gotti, real flow,
yeah yeah yeah. Are you ready for loss under the
cutting room floor today?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Well, let's give a shout out to Carrot.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
Carrot is the name of the world's biggest goldfish, and
Carrot has just passed away, plunging fish lovers around the
world into morning.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
Well I'm a fish lover. How did I not hear
about it?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
We'll get to your fish loving ways shortly, but first
let me tell you about carrot. Carrot was a hybrid
species of a leather cap and a coy carp. Oh,
so it's this giant orange goldfish. And when I say giant,
it's the size and weight of a labrador.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Oo, it's twenty years old. A fish was twenty years old.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
I had two goldfish and my dad once cleaned out
the tank and they both went down the toilet.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
They lasted about a week. Maybe that has become this.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Hey, did your dad not understand the principle of cleaning
out that you just chuck everything out?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I don't chuck it all out.

Speaker 4 (01:02):
Yeah, what were your goldfish called?

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I don't know if you'll understand the connection. They were
gold so I've called them Goldie and golden.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Okay, So now you work in this creative environment.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
I'm the only person radio without a nickname. I wish,
and there's a reason I wish.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
He brings some of that creativity to the table sometime.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
You know what everyone talks about their porn name. Which
is your first pet on your first street? It was
Goldie Carill, which I think is a pretty good porn name.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Yeah, Goldie Carill sounds all right. Tiger carrying bar.

Speaker 2 (01:33):
A bit heavy handed, isn't it?

Speaker 4 (01:34):
It is too much carrying bar street carrying bar road.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Sorry my mistake.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Oh what are you trying to stalk me? Now I
don't live there anymore.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
I lived just around the corner Incredibility Way.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
The Struggle Street.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Well, this fish carrot was in France and died from
natural causes. But what's interesting It was four foot four
foot long, and as I said, way the size that
weighed the same way as a labrador thirty kilos.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
And how did it die?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Well, it died from natural causes, they say. But having
said that, lots of people tried to catch it. They'd
haul it out and take photos with it, then put
it back in. And it's got to be stressful.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
For it just two years ago.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
This guy said he spent twenty eight minutes reeling it
in and it was delighted when he weighed it.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
And you think, well, that's not a.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Good thing too, it's not going to be good for
the fish.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
No, but they have said Carrot died from natural causes
and was not impacted by the string of hobbyists hoisting
her from the water. And they said, look, we know
people are going to mourn her loss, but don't worry
because she's got two little babies, two baby carrots carrots
along with the baby peas. They'll probably grow up to
be massive whoppers as well. So a twenty year old
fish that weighs thirty kilos unbelievable. In bringing up this story, Brendan,

(02:50):
because you see how long.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I've got a fish pond. When I bought my house
some seven.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Years you want to tell this story.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Inherited a fish pond.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I didn't realize that I've had fish in this fish pond,
and I refit. The fish pond had to rehouse all
the fish that were in the pond while it was
getting refitted, and then over time the fish will passed away.
It could have been old age I don't know, but
they could have been could have been old age.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
They survived all those years in the pond. A nanosecond
of you interfering.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Interfering, it was my wife that interfered. Or we've got
to fix the pond. So we did because it was leaking.
What restrictions? Come on?

Speaker 2 (03:35):
You know, the story doesn't end there.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
I think it does.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Can I join in on the telling of this story?
So you were going on and on about this.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Fish was fantastic?

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yeah, Yeah, And we got a call from I think
his name was Brad, wasn't it. We got a call
from a guy saying that he had inherited two giant
carp I'm a friend of his who had passed away.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
These fish were very very special and they were quite old,
Charlie and Roger the mental of.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Fish a fish, and he'd been bequeathed these from his
friend who had passed.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Brad now had to move. I th it was to Townsville.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Yeah, just before the pandemic.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, And he said, I need to rehome these very
special fish.

Speaker 4 (04:16):
Hi, this brand new tank. And I thought, well, you
know what, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Let's do it.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Let's do it. And I spoke to fish experts.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
I said, this is my pond enough is it enough
capacity for this huge, massive fish?

Speaker 4 (04:29):
And they all assured me that it was.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Anyway, we'll get back to what happened.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
But the next morning, after they'd been dropped off at
your place, I've never seen you so shaken.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
You came into work.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
You were white faced, you were sweating, and you said,
please don't tell anyone. Don't tell anyone what's happened. Because
we were very anxious about these fish. Because you have
a history of killing things, you have to admit that,
and we were very anxious at these loved, long lived
fish and you would not mix.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
So what had happened on that first night, Well.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
What happened was we put the fish.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Bill cosby what happened you put the pills in the girl.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
So what happened was the fish went into the pond
and I just marveled at them because I am massive,
and they're just swimming around there in that pond.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
And they looked like they were living their best life.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
And I said to my potential son in law, were
standing there having a beer, looking at the fish, and
it was mesmerizing.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
I said, do you think they'll jump out? Yes, no,
why would they jump out?

Speaker 1 (05:32):
At that moment, I walked over to have a look,
and Roger leaped out of the water over my head
onto our slope driveway.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Very steep driveway, and slid all the way down.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Lid down, and I went oh. And then I tried
to pick him up, but I couldn't just do slippery.
He's got all this fish juice on him, so I
had to rip my shirt off, wrap it around the
fish and scoop him back into the tank.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
And there's blood coming out of his because he slid down.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
The driveway getting chased by my potential son.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
In law's dog. It was just breathe, just breathe.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
And then that night I just went, oh, my god,
I know, and you work.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
And everyone everyone must say, oh, you're going to kill
that fish. We had the fish in the pond for
three hours.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
That was it. So it survived the night, and I
was really worried about it.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
So I got some fish experts around talk about it,
and the guy said, this tank is way too small.
It's way too small for these sized fish. And I mean, well,
thank you, thanks for the heads up on that. Now,
So anyway, I found a place for them to.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Live both Roger and to a farm. They went to
a massive kitank. I went and saw them. This is
for real. I went and visited them. No, they wouldn't
have fit down their spend. It was like, Oh new,
don't you dare close your eyes.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
I had to transport them.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
The fish guy came around with a big eski, whacked
them in individual eskies, and off they went.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
And as far as I know, they are living. Oh new,
don't you do.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
I've never seen you so traumatized. And it took you
a while to be able to tell that story.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
This is like therapy, and I'm glad.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
You had that. On eBay. I bought fake fish that
you can put in your fish Pondy.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
We're all a lot happier.

Speaker 4 (07:24):
For today.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Come back tomorrow for more Cholsey and the Man That's
Gotten room floor. Ye
