Speaker 1 (00:00):
In case you've been living under a rock for the
last few days and didn't hear what we were just
talking about. On Monday night on seven thirty program on
the ABC, Barnaby Joyce is being interviewed by Sarah Ferguson
and in the middle of a tricky question, this was
his answer. He said he was talking to his imaginary dog. Well,
you don't see the dog, do you argue this? Why
(00:23):
would you yelling at a dog that wasn't making any noise.
It was barking like loon.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
You'd say, shut.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Up, he said. In his defense, he said, country people
are laughing. They get it. The dog loved me in
the morning, he go, yeah, was there a dog? I
don't know, but I listened to podcasts called Podsave America
and they're all ex scriptwriters of scriptwriters and speech writers
of Barack Obama and they sort of work on the
Democrat side of politics. Just an interesting insight into this spin.
(00:51):
I just do a lot of different kinds of things,
but it was interesting hearing their take on Barnaby Joyce.
Want to hear a little snippet please.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Okay, okay. He's a fan favorite, so he's a charming Fellow.
He's now a member of the right wing One Nation Party,
but not long ago he served as Deputy Prime Minister
of Australia. He's as the leader of the National Party.
But ben believe it or not, this is not the
first time that Barnaby Joyce has declared his love for
man's Best friend on national television. Check out this clip
from twenty fifteen.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
The Next Issue, which is a gentleman by the name
of John Christopher Depp aka Jack Sparrow, and he's decided
to bring in to our nation two dogs. Basically looks
like he snucked them in. We found out he snucked
them in because we saw them taking it to a
poodle groomer. Now, mister Depp has to either take his
dogs back to California or we're gonna have to euthanize them.
(01:43):
So it's time that Pistol and Boo bug it off
back to the United States.
Speaker 3 (01:48):
You threatened to kill dogs on TV. Maybe you shouldn't
be allowed to have one in the future. That's my idea.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I'm not here to defend John Depp, but I'm here
to defend Pistol and Boo.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
That was a pretty hard swerve to Nuking referred to
I guess as the war on terrier.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
I'd almost forgotten that I've forgot to be euthanized, and
they did even they did deeper to not too further
back in Barnaby's life, but just through the tabloid juice
of Barnaby's life.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Also been In twenty twenty four, the Daily Mail ran
a video of Joyce. He was taking a phone call.
He was on the street. He fell off a potted
plant around midnight and I'm assuming he had a few.
He landed on his back and then just lay there
and did the phone call. This is about midnight in
Canberra and some bystander walked by and filmed it. And
this is an actual line from the story that I
wanted to read you. This is Barnaby. Joyce's wife said
(02:36):
her husband was not referring to her when he called
someone a quote deading seaward during the phone call. Then
she said, I think he was calling himself one. He
likes to self flagellate.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Yeah, sounds like a colorful guy. You know, I'm not
sure i'd want him anywhere near positions of power and responsibility.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Though, no nor when America thinks.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
We're not when they are laughing at us. Oh my god,
m
