Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gold. It's Jonesy demanded driving you home.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Stephen Curry has been keeping us entertained for decades. We
played some of his earlier work The Castle and Absolute
Breakout Role, one of the most loved and iconic movies.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Of course, he's.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Played a little so many things. But now he's becoming
a king of a different castle.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
See what I did.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
There, he's taking on. Thank you, Stephen, wait till I finished.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Keep's fader down. Ryan, You're supposed to pipe in during
the entral role.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
Of King Arthur in his musical theater debut. In another
cult classic, Monty Python's spam Alot, Stephen Curry, hark, I left.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
The fader up here, he is, am I coming through clearly.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
However you are. You're coming to us from your den.
I can see behind you. You got some children's artwork
or are they your own artworks?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Well, I'll put them up for you because they remind
me of the artworks that you send me advance. And
there's a lot of fingerwork involved.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
And to the left the left of your you, is
that a yellow Valiant Regal.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Look at that, the old valievan Regal. It was it
was our family car growing up. Had my fiftieth birthday,
and my sister decided to put my head as Dale
Kerrigan coming out of the back of it.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Oh right, you know, I remember those in the back
in the old days before we all woke and everyone
had to have child seats in the back.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Of a car.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
How woke We all jump in the back of station
wagon and that's that's where you just sat. You would
just sitting in the back of the station wagon like cargo.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah. Well, as the youngest of five, it was just
me and the dog and all the bags, and we
look like to look out the back window to see
who was about to kill us. So they are indelible
memories from my.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Child dressful times. Great, let's talk about spam a Lot.
This is your musical theater day boom does How does
that work?

Speaker 3 (01:48):
Because no one was stupid enough to cast me in
anything to this point. It's interesting, isn't it. After thirty
five odd years of being in the entertainment industry, I've
kind of always what musicals from afar and thought I'd
like to do that, but I don't want to do
anything too serious, and so spam Alot came along, and
every bit in spam a loot that gets supposedly serious

(02:09):
is the most ridiculous thing you've ever seen. So I thought,
bang right up my alley, let's go.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
To be in musical theater. There's a certain stamina and
consistency and resilience involved.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
This is.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
I know you've done your own shows before, but night
after night after night, how are you training for this?

Speaker 3 (02:27):
I have seven understudies, so I fear that I'll probably
only do it one shot. Hope that the reviews are good.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
A hangmail and you're out.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Look, look that you know what the great thing about
musical theater, right when you're a bit of an outsider
to this, to this particular platform, is that there are
heaps of people who dance really well and can dance
night after night and can do the can can and
can do all the stuff that I, frankly can't do.
But what I can do is really stupid faces. And

(02:58):
I can hold a note.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
You are you are the King. I always remember Dale
when he's on the on the lake there and he's
just pulling that rude head and he's when he's out
fishing for carp Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
My career has been basically a series of facial expressions.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Sure, have you had to ensure your facial muscles.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
Yeah, it's basically like Jennifer Lopez. My facial expressions are
ensured for never. You mind how much, but it's you
know how, you know how Elon must just became a trillionaire.
He looks at me and he thinks, if.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Only your your face j Lo's bum, that's the money.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
I have to have my face mangled in some sort
of unfortunate accident, so it might be worth it.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
The family is angling for that.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
This is this is what we're all about. Recently, I
watched an interview someone asked Harrison Ford what Indiana Jones
would say to Hands Solo if they were to meet.
So I'll pitch this question to you, JJ Walker, the
character you played in Temper Palms, what would he say
to Dale Kerrigan and vice versa.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
He'd say, get a job, grow up, move out. I
often get asked if there would be a sequel to
The Castle. I said, well, it wouldn't be that good
because Dale would definitely he's still living at home and
dig in the old hole and basically achieving nothing for society.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
And I think, and I think the older brother was
still in jail. He'd be I recidivist.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
But he just fell in with the wrong crowd. He
didn't mean to rob.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
This, that's what they all say. And then he's back
in jail again.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, we should pitch this to working dogger. I can't
imagine that, Steve, it's all.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
It's great to talk to you for tickets, had to Did.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
We talk about Sam a lot?

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:43):
We did.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
You're not dancing, you're going to gourn a bit and.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
You've got seven.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Extras, seven understudies, actually, man one of them.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
What are your knights like a manager.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
I'm already booked for the Tuesday, the Thursday.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Yeah, okay, great, great, great, great, Okay, no worries. No,
I'm I'm on cooking duty at home.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
And I'll just keep my phone off silent in case.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
You just in case, just keep it there. You never
know when it might ring, but I know you wait
daily anyway.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Ticketmaster dot com dot au, Stephen Curry, thank you.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
You guys are legends.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Thank you
