Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jones Amanda.
Speaker 2 (00:01):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Amanda podcast.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
The Jonesy and Amanda Show. Georgeous Amanda, Mistress Amanda is
delivering discipline. It hurts, but someone's got to do ad Amanda,
Madamanda Jones and the Yrile Jonesy.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Heard them describe him as a drunken idiot. Stay in
school and learned school.
Speaker 5 (00:29):
Yeah, okay, Jones and Amanda, those are names that you
would never forget.
Speaker 6 (00:34):
Shut up, happy man, ye friend?
Speaker 3 (00:37):
All hello, how are you?
Speaker 6 (00:38):
I am very very well. Did you ever go again?
Speaker 3 (00:41):
I did? Thank you? If someone had said a few
years ago, happy, would you say many? Happy? Manya? Friend?
Speaker 7 (00:47):
All?
Speaker 3 (00:47):
What language we speak?
Speaker 4 (00:48):
What words are you speaking? Jem I raie. Did you
win on the weekend in the soccer the round ball game?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
He's not a soccer rule, let's just be going.
Speaker 7 (00:56):
Yeah, I did get the win one nill.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Good work.
Speaker 6 (00:58):
And the soccer is what about? They took on twenty
and they won.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Yep, you should be a commentator with that insightful kind
of information.
Speaker 6 (01:07):
Crossing over to Jonesy, they took on Turkey and they won.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
I didn't get to watch any of the soccer because
I've been working on this boat. I foolishly went into
syndicate to buy a boat. And it's an old it's
an odd you'd.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Like the back end of a pantomime horse.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
It's an old fishing boat. And all weekend I've been
scrubbing its bottom, taking.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
A syndicate for the boat. Are you all going to
use it as a leisure craft? What's it going to be?
Speaker 6 (01:32):
All we're doing now is stopping it from sinking.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
That's it. And because we've taken all the barnacles and
the stuff offered now it leaks even more.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
A bit of a money pit happening.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Then all boats of money pits, Amanda, don't buy them.
There are two happy days of the boat, when you
buy it and when you sell it. When I was young,
many years ago, at the age of seventeen, I got
a job at the very marina that i'm working on
this bay at, and that was going to be my future.
Speaker 6 (01:58):
I wanted to work in boats.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
And then a week later the marina burnt down. Nothing
that I did, and.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
That sounds like a plot line from Home and Away
or so.
Speaker 6 (02:06):
And then I ended up doing it.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
You were a rascally little kid and something went terribly wrong,
knocked over a propane something, or rather, no, you're supposed
to say.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
No, no I did it. I didn't.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Let's clear it up. No you didn't.
Speaker 6 (02:17):
I didn't burn the place down. I was at a
different place.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Okay, a different place. Tick the box that you're in
a different place.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
I showed up to work on the Monday with my
little lunch.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Box, blackened hands.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
And the owner was just there and he just looked
ashen faced, and I said oh, and he said, well, mate,
I obviously I can't employ you.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
And and it didn't dawn on me that I was
out of a chob.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Does this remind you of when you decided you're going
to give a stand up comedy ago in September eleven?
Happened that night?
Speaker 6 (02:49):
Yeah, that's a great show that I did though.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
That was really good, and then that was no more.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
That was no more. Or like when I went for
Tipping Point and didn't get it.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
You never went for that. Let's sorry, it didn't even go.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
It's the show.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
No, it's for some reason. I was outraged the Todd
Woodbridge got it. That's outrageous.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
It's so outrageous. You've never watched it. And you didn't
audition for it or even tell anyone you're interested. But
what an outrage. They didn't come to you.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
It to you. We have an action packed show today,
mglaspie with the download.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
It's all about Tyra Banks.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
She's suing Netflix and it quite an ironic cook case action.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
And it's a defamation thing, because what I know about
defamation things, they always seem to go really well. Not
Instagram makes us return and we can't do anything until
we do.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
The fast far Do you like to give us a call?

Speaker 4 (03:37):

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Foul off yourself?
Speaker 6 (03:49):

get under your skin, na gets.
Speaker 6 (03:57):
On your skin, but it's very hard to get off.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
I tried it, like good, Like what does it leave
on your skin?
Speaker 6 (04:03):
Well, I've got a picture. You don't see my legs?
Speaker 3 (04:05):

andy fowl a lot.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
Sailor Jerry said, use truck wash.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Truck wash?
Speaker 3 (04:49):
What is truck just what you'd watched the outside of
a truck?
Speaker 4 (04:51):
And he suggested using a gurney, and that he would
use the gurney on me.
Speaker 6 (04:55):
I said, Jerry, I'm not kidding.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Whose finishes this is not mine?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Well, how do you not know it?
Speaker 6 (05:11):
You know it's I know. I worked in that field
a long time.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
And burnt the place down.
Speaker 6 (05:17):
I did not burn a place down.
Speaker 3 (05:19):

How'd Wales go. Have they played their first game yet?
Speaker 10 (08:15):

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Take a peek behind the scenes. Follow Jonesy and Amanda
on Instagram and Facebook.
Speaker 6 (08:48):
Jonesy and Amanda's fast five. Some say it's like a
tomato soup for the Breen.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
Slight taste of vomb left behind a cup of soup.

(09:16):
Songwriters Hall of Fame inductees along with Taylor.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Swith What was the final score in Australia's opening World
Cup match against Turkey? Eliza?
Speaker 11 (09:27):
Did you say the final score?
Speaker 6 (09:28):
The final score?
Speaker 12 (09:29):
Yeah, I watched it two to zero.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
House thrilling. We're going to We're gunner, We're going to dissect.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
All of that, and said we were no chance.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Takia said that, yes.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Yes, Turkya, I'm not George sps.
Speaker 3 (09:44):

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Guy?
Speaker 3 (09:55):
We're going to play that for you. We're going to
play for you.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
Made I did like the Tudor advocate though.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
That was funny. Funny they said, Australia finally gets revenge
for Gallipoli as Turks ambushed by our brave soccer us.
And what about this one the goalkeeper Patrick Beach. He
was incredible the Australian goalkeeper. They've said he had the
game of his life. Australia picked the right beach against
Turkey this time around.
Speaker 6 (10:18):
Eliza, congratulations to you.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
You have won an unlimited twelve month a Masim plan

Speaker 3 (10:36):
Congratulations.
Speaker 6 (10:37):
Would you would extol the benefits of playing the Fast five?
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Woudn't you? Eliza?
Speaker 13 (10:41):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Cool, cool, We're going.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
To put that on a shirt jam.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
Our home is girt by sea, but that comes with
its own perils, and we saw that on the weekend
with that shark attack.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Well, this shark attack was in the beachside suburb of
Kujie and I've lived there for thirty years. And anywhere
you know, Australia at the moment is seeing so many
shark tas there's lots of fish in the water, but
when it happens in your own community, it is horrifically chilling.
As you can imagine. It was a beautiful day. I
was down the beach earlier that day walking my dog
(11:15):
and the water was so clear, it was warm, it
was unseasonably warm. It was so beautiful, so many people swimming,
so many people walking along the beach. And at eleven
o'clock that morning, a thirty five year old woman was
attacked by shark and she's in a stable but I
guess compromise positions still at hospital. Her life was saved
(11:37):
by a twenty five year old young man called Charlie Verko.
He actually went to school with my son. He was incredible.
He was an off duty volunteer life saver and this
woman was doing laps she was within the flags. She
was only twenty or thirty meters out where the first
break was, so she wasn't way out and the shark grabbed.
(12:01):
He saw the commotion and he paddled towards this, and
he said the shark was the size of a cart.
It was a great white shark. He said he was
looking up at these fins. Actually hears how he described
what he saw.
Speaker 13 (12:14):
I could see the dorsal fin and the tail fin
and the body of it, and I felt like I
was looking up at the shark just because it was
so big, and that was where I really went. I
actually don't know what I can do here to help.
It's just too big for me to actually do anything,
and so I just looked at the beach, tried to
signal to the life guys as the big code X
to get them to understand what was going on out there.
(12:34):
And yeah, then there was a lot of blood in
the water. She ended up getting taken underwater for a second,
and I couldn't see where she was because it was
all red. And luckily she popped up and the shark
had let her go, and I was able to get
close enough to bring her into shore.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
He said so casually to bring her into shore. He
wasn't it all as simple as that. So he grabbed
her and he pretty much reached into the sharks, took
her out of the shark's jaws, almost put her on
the tried to get her onto the board, couldn't do it.
She was holding onto i think a water cage at
the front of his board, and he was paddling backwards.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
And then she slipped into unconsciousness, and so he was
grabbing her and paddling backwards to share extraordinary. If he
hadn't been there when he was, she either may have
bled to death or the shark may have had another go.
This has saved her life, I'm sure of it. And
by the time he came closer to show there was
so many local heroes. There was one the man I
(13:33):
do want to say his name. His name was Ben Heenan.
He was the Cujie Surf Life Saving Club president. He
started paddling out towards them. Amazingly, there's a doctor, Ian Ferguson,
an off duty emergency physician, walking along the beach with
his kids. So all these people were there on shore
when she was brought to the sand locals were holding
(13:53):
up towels to give them some privacy, some sense of
privacy because lots of people are taking photos. A friend
of mine was there and just locked at what she
was seeing, and other people were taking photos and she's saying,
do you mind, And they're saying, I have every right
to film. This is what one woman said to her.
So you saw the best of humanity go on that day,
and apart from a few of those ghouls, quite an
extraordinary thing. And I was there the next morning walking
(14:17):
my dog again, and it was such a somber, incredible
morning because so many people there are are swimmers who
swim all year around, and they're big groups. It's a
wonderful social thing. And everyone's just sitting there in a
state of shock. And I spoke to one of the
local council workers and he had never obviously, was still traumatized.
The man who runs the coffee shop on the beach
(14:37):
horrified by what he'd.
Speaker 4 (14:38):
Seen as well. You don't get a lot of shark attacks.
It's not really a sharky area.
Speaker 3 (14:44):
No it's not. And it was clear water, it was
in the middle of the day. It was not when
anyone would have thought such a thing could happen. Scary,
It is absolutely scary. And you know what in this
somber that's one side of the beach, one side of
the street. The other side of the street was the pub,
and the Brazilians were there in force to watch the
opening match of the World Cup, these orange, these yellow jerseys,
(15:07):
and they were screaming and yelling with joy. And I thought, both,
this is the world. Both those things exist at once,
and that is life. You take your joy where you can.
So this one small suburb had all those human emotions
at once. So the woman I don't know, I don't
think her name has been released yet. She is still
(15:28):
in hospital, and our thoughts and wishes with her and
to all those incredibly brave people who helped out on
the day.
Speaker 6 (15:35):
Good jem. What about the World Cup? Soccer?
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Soccer us soccer Ruse Ryan is the soccer officionado in
this room. We weren't expected to beat Turkey, were we No,
not at all.
Speaker 7 (15:48):
Turkey are a great side, so to beat them in
the way that we did is just incredible.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
You've got a lot of history in the World Cup
and far more than we have, yeah experience.
Speaker 7 (15:58):
Yeah, and their team actually was looking at this on
the transfer market, their squad is worth roughly six hundred
million euros compared to our squad, which is valued at
roughly seventy million euros.
Speaker 6 (16:10):
So wow, yeah, big difference.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
Can I ask a dumb question. I know it's not knockout,
but how do we just a mass points? Do we
play Turkey again?
Speaker 4 (16:20):
No?
Speaker 7 (16:20):
No, no, that's a group stage. So now we played
the USA next Saturday morning, five.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
O'clock, so they've been really down.
Speaker 6 (16:28):
What about the Turkey captain?
Speaker 4 (16:29):
He wrote us off, I think that we dominate tomorrow
the game because we have more qualities and more talented team.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
So we will see tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
What happened in your face? Team?
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Tomorrow?
Speaker 4 (16:39):
What happened in your face? What about Mike Greller? He's
a bit of a pundit. He had this to say,
what are they drinking over there?
Speaker 9 (16:45):
Because they've got no shot of doing anything at the
World Cup? Listen again with this Australian things getting a little.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Out of control.
Speaker 9 (16:52):
Okay, it made me actually go back and do more
research because I'm like, wait, I love what I'm like.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Maybe they're right.
Speaker 9 (17:00):
Look at their team. I don't recognize any players in
the team. What are they drinking over there? Because they
got no shot of doing anything at the World Cup, right,
and they're the weakest team in the group. There's no
shot Australia. Australia could compete with the US and so
the only way they can play is in defense and
try to keep nil nil and that's the only way.
But they don't have There's levels like, yeah, I know
(17:20):
about football and it's like, you know, anything can happen. Yeah, okay,
but there's also levels of quality and US has players
that play weekend and week at the highest levels of
Europe and Australia.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
I'm so invested now.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
We have to be the former US player Alex Lallas.
He had this design.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
This is an average team by any measure, and certainly
not a great team.
Speaker 6 (17:42):
You know, this has all the whole marks of a
Swan Beee commercial. They said, make it.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
This has fired up?
Speaker 6 (17:52):
Are we playing?
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I think it's five o'clock on Saturday morning? Is that right, Ryan,
That's correct? Yes, And this team is made up of
so many interesting young men. We will talk about the
pride of Australia that they are sure we'll do that
in the next half hour.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
It's pretty much a microcosm of this country.
Speaker 3 (18:09):
It really is. And suck on that, Pauline.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Amanda podcast now, by.
Speaker 8 (18:17):
The miracle of recording.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Josie and Amanda, don't be.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
An Amanda are two great names.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
I'm not a scatter thanks the chemistry between them.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
But how much relign your own business and shut your piehole.
I wish you were with your show.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
With World Cup fever around us at the moment, there's
been a lot of stories popping up about the round
ball game and one that popped up in my algorithm.
It's the story and it's a fairly old story, goes
back to two thousand and nine, but it's a bunch
of Liverpool fans convinced a Man United fan to drive
(18:51):
nine hours to have a relationship with a woman he'd.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Fallen in love with online and it's so devious.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
So these two fan groups, they're over in Cancun, Mexico,
having a good old time where the World Cup is
no no, this is years ago, just unrelated. So the
man United fans there with his mates and the Liverpool.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Fans are there.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Obviously, the banter, as you know with soccer, has got
a bit too much, and it's ended up with the
Liverpool fans throwing the Man United Fan into the pool,
which is easily you know, the.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
End of all things.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
I fight great wars would be settled if you just
threw someone in the pool, or would it just be
started through that? Anyway, you would imagine that this particular
revenge would be finished there. But what had happened was
the Liverpool fans No, no, we're going to We're going
to take this further.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
So they concocted a relationship for this guy.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
They catfished him.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
They set up a girl called Emma, a Scottish girl
that had a nice picture of her, and they catfished
this poor guy for five or six months and the
relationship got more and more intense as you could have
made with flirty texts, and eventually Emma convinced the Man
United Fan to drive from his house to Aberdeen in Scotland,
(20:08):
which is nine hours. So he gets there after nine
hours of driving and there is a farmhouse which they've
set up and he's come in there and then the
ladies texted him Emma and said sorry, I'm sorry, I'm
late at work.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
I'll be another three hours.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
So he waits there for three hours and then these
two Liverpool fans ring up.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
Wow, remember us, that's.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Exactly with a bunch of expletives.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Wow, that's a slow burh.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
The guy went to say, that's what made it worse.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
Not only had I driven for nine hours, but I
had to wait for another three and a half hours
for her to finish work.
Speaker 6 (20:47):
And then those two bosos caught off the line.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Wow, that's a sting and a half just for the
round ball game, just for someone throwing you in a pool.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
That just says what men will do to get one.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Well, who are the soccer's Who are these young men
that have made us so proud that the current crop
are extraordinary young men. Let's talk about them next. We're
talking about the soccer rus And of course we were
always going to be invested in our team at the
World Cup, and yet the two nil we win against Turkey,
that unexpected winners just fired everyone up. As we said earlier,
(21:20):
there's America, who we're playing next, going, what chance do
you have? Well, show you, says me from here, I'll
show you through that team.
Speaker 6 (21:27):
You know we you and I are both pretty much
big bandwagon.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Of course, of course, we are, but we jump on
and off when it's SUPs.
Speaker 4 (21:34):
But really that's the Australian way.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Well, what's extraordinary is about the changing face of the
Australian soccer ruse and I've loved how they have embraced
their multiculturalism. So they have released a massive message celebrating
Australian multiculturalism ahead of the FIFA World Cup campaign. Here
they are all saying where they're from.
Speaker 14 (21:53):
I was born in Kalkomar refugee camp in Kenya.
Speaker 6 (21:57):
My parents are sas Denis.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
I was in Brisbane, Australia. My family migrated from Siples.
Speaker 14 (22:03):
I was born in Canberra, Australia.
Speaker 6 (22:06):
I was born in Italy, raised in Perth.
Speaker 15 (22:09):
I was born in Ghee and I came to Australia
with my family as a refugee.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
I was born in Sydney, Australia.
Speaker 13 (22:16):
I was born in Newcastle, New South Wales.
Speaker 15 (22:19):
Our family immigrated from Scotland to Western Australia. I fled
my birthplace canin Croatia as an eighteen month old baby.
I lived as a refugee in Serbia until we moved
at the age of six to Sydney.
Speaker 7 (22:33):
No matter where you come from football as for everyone.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
The soccers aren't just a team. We are a reflection
of modern Australia. Our diversity is our strength.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Ohs goose bumps. Right, And did you see Nestri ire
in Kunda. He was absolutely incredible. His parents are Burundi refugees.
He was the youngest ever goal scorer that Australia has
had in the World Cup and here he was interviewed
after that moment, born.
Speaker 6 (22:59):
Into Tanzania refuge camp.
Speaker 15 (23:00):
You've come to Australia the youngest ever World Cup goalscorer
for Australia.
Speaker 6 (23:05):
How does that feel, mate? No, it feels amazing. It
feels amazing. You know you got to thank the staff,
you got to thank the nation. You know, they all
have the belief in me to do so well. And
you know I felt like today getting that goal. You
know it was amazing. Yeah, it's just a great feeling.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
Nestary Irakunda, beautiful name, Very satisfying to say so.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
Just to recap here is the squad Eighteen players with
a direct immigrant or refugee heritagers of the fifteen different
ethnic backgrounds represented. Four players born in or raised in
refugee camps. Three players born outside Australia. So I saw
this amazing thing that was written. If you're voting for
one nation, you're not allowed to cheer on the socceros
(23:45):
practice what you preach because under those policies, half of
that team would have been deported. So that's food for thought.
Jonesy and Amanda.

Speaker 6 (23:56):
Rod Stewart's in a bit of bother. He's facing a
bit of a backlash.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
He's celebrating of the World Cup, but he canceled a concert.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Well, here's what's happened. His beloved Scottish team, and I
think they won their opening mate I did. He was
he flew to Boston to watch a game. He was
in a private plane with his sons.
Speaker 6 (24:19):
He said, Stewart Family Jet.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Yeah, this is a wonderful thing to be doing.
Speaker 4 (24:23):
The problem was he took his boys with it.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
The night before he called off a concert in San Diego,
an hour before he was scheduled to take to the stage.
He said he'd been diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory
infection resulted in laryngitis. How you tell that with Rod Stewart.
I don't know, but people were outraged, saying one woman said,
my three sons took my eighty two year old mother
(24:47):
out of her nursing facility and drove to San Diego
last night. Thanks for crushing an eighty two year old
and three young men who wanted to share that moment
with her. The problem was he put.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Then again his three sons or two sons when him
in the plane.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
I know, but he gave only an hour's notice and
people had arranged, you know, all the kinds of things,
and he then put himself on social media. He has
said that he was feeling better after he'd had some treatment,
but his voice still wasn't right once again, how can
you tell?
Speaker 6 (25:14):
How do you know?
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Busted?
Speaker 6 (25:17):
Hey, yep, the tribal drumad beef for this record?
Speaker 3 (25:19):
What are you going to call it?
Speaker 6 (25:22):
I'm just thinking of something. Court chucking is siki?
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Court chucking is sicky? Is that him with laryngitisall without?
I can't tell?
Speaker 6 (25:33):
That's before the Sooth's tour.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Court chucking a sicky?
Speaker 6 (25:37):
What have you got for some great tales out there?
Gamation Rod Stewart. He loves singing and he loves his soccer.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
But when those two things clash, what are you going
to choose? So his beloved Scottish soccer team, we're playing
in the World Cup.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
The night before, one hour before he was due to
go on stage in San Diego and perform, he said
he had laryngitis and couldn't do it. And then the
next day there he is on his private jet with
his kids off to cheer, probably presumably at the top
of his voice, cheer on his team. That's the problem
with social media. He put that up, and people going, oh,
so that's why you canceled with an hours of notice yesterday.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
You got to keep your piehole shot, keep your pi
that's what you got to do.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
The tribal drummers beating caught chucking a sicky.
Speaker 6 (26:23):
Story wargan pal. Sure Emma has joined us?
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Hello Emma who chucked the sickie?
Speaker 8 (26:30):
Hello with me?
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah, what happened?
Speaker 1 (26:33):
I want a trip to the snow and so I went,
and then again I decided to post all over social media,
and someone dugged on me to the boss and then
the boss set me down when I got home and said,
as a senior member of the station, you know you
can't be doing that, and I basically just said, well
it's personally no regrets to Snow was epic.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
And did you keep your job?
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Of course?
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Wow are balls each So you must have known by
putting on your socials you'd be dubbed in somehow.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Oh you don't like you don't expect that's happened, but
you know there's always one.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
Yeah, going back to it Sun last night, if you.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
If you posted on social media, I don't understand. You
know you've got to keep if you've got to do
this stuff, you got to keep me DISCREETE.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Got to be discreet. At least you kept your job. Emma,
well done.
Speaker 6 (27:29):
But you've just you've just and what are you going
to do about it? Sack me and thank you? Brad
is joyous?
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Hy Brad? What was the sickie?
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Uh?
Speaker 16 (27:38):
Well, I was working with a landscaper. We had a
really big job on and there was a new guy.
So on the Friday we decided Saturday we're going to
do all the heavy lifting. Saturday comes, the new guy
doesn't turn up. He has a sickie. So it was
too much for us. So after about two hours we
decided to go to the pub. When we get to
the pub, the new guys at the pub with his
new girlfriend.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
How did he do you feel when he saw you
walk in?
Speaker 16 (28:02):
Well, he wasn't too good because the boss wasn't happy
at all, and he tried to make an excuse and
say that he felt better after a couple of hours.
Speaker 3 (28:11):
Yeah, did he keep his job back?
Speaker 16 (28:15):
No, he didn't know he got rid of him.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
Yeah, I hope he kept the girl. Maybe came away
with something.
Speaker 4 (28:24):
Rod Stewart, he was supposed to be performing. He's gone
along there, and I guess for his job, you know,
I guess you get bored of it. He's been doing
it for a long time. But he's mister Yawn selling mattresses.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
He has survived because of a certain attitude of consistency.
You know, if your audience has booked a ticket to
see you, he's usually there.
Speaker 6 (28:48):
Canceling an album an hour.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Before the show because he had laryngitis, and the next
day posting pictures of himself. In his private chat with
his sons crossing the country to watch Scotland play in
the World Cup, he said, I had some treatment and
my voice got a little bit, but not good enough
to sing. But a little bit better.
Speaker 4 (29:05):
Has been caught chucking a sicki and the tribal drummers
beating for this.
Speaker 6 (29:11):
Mate, Brenda has joined us.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Hello Brenda, was this your sicky we're talking about?
Speaker 11 (29:17):
No, it's my ex husband. So he decided to go
on a holiday to England and while he was over there,
he thought, I'll just put in a claim for a
few sick days while I'm there, And then on those
particular days he went to Wimbledon right on the on
the netlineh camera pan, and there he was and he
(29:43):
both saw it.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Oh, you know, I listened to you laughing monically right
on the netline at Wimbledon. You know, did you be
more in considering your husband?
Speaker 4 (29:54):
Harley?
Speaker 6 (29:55):
Many moons ago, take a SICKI? Went to the cricket.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
He was working for TV and Z in New Zealand
and he went with another colleague and they chucked asiki.
They went to watch the cricket and his friend was
sitting with a woman who wasn't his wife.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
Right, and she was wearing a bikini top.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Yeah, something dreadful was going on and the ball came
towards them and they heard that. Someone said, I think
you've been seen in some footage. So Harley was horrified
that this other guy had to get home and make
sure his wife didn't watch the news because there's big
catches and all that in front of them. Harley was
in trouble because he skipped to work. The other guy
for even more terrible reasons than yeah, it can happen.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
And cameraman, if I know anything about them, they don't
like zoomi in on bikini clad women at the.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Cricket and men who look guilty.
Speaker 6 (30:45):
That is the kids of death.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
If you go to a sporting event, keep away from
bikini girls.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
Thank you, Brenda. Debbie has joined us.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Hi Debbie, what happened?
Speaker 8 (30:53):
Well, this was a long time ago when I was
nineteen and I lived at Kutji and my two fat
mates and I I all worked at the same nursing home.
So we all wanted to day off. So we rang
in and said we were in a car accident and
no social media, no mobile phones, felt we were safe
(31:14):
or didn't know we were going to be safe. And
then my mum turned up. She rang the nursing home
to talk to me and they told her I was
in a car act No yes, and so I was
only about eighteen, and she turned up with my brother. Oh,
I thought, I didn't know which one.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Was going to kill me first.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
Oh no, I can't say car no. Oh. This reminds
me of a friend of mine whose daughter, who was
living at home, had a job in a certain office,
and my friend thought, you know, I'll drop in and
drop off some coffees to her. So she goes in
and they said she doesn't work here anymore. Didn't she
tell you she'd quit some months before, and hadn't you
(31:56):
mentioned it to the parents and she was living at home.
It's awkward.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
Yeah, just go to work, Just be honest, or go
to work works.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
I've just been looking at some footage of the UFC.
That's one house.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
I was watching that on the weekend in the hill.
Speaker 3 (32:17):
It's like a crack family have moved into the white houses.
Bike's going over the.
Speaker 6 (32:21):
Top and I like all that stuff.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
But I just sort of majesty middle and.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
I think, you know, back to the future too, you know,
when biv Tannan is running And I know this has
been documented, but I when I saw the all the
crusty demons of dirt jumping over, I thought, who's the
adult here.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
And then I just saw some footage of one of
the UFC fighters coming in to be weighed in. He's
weaving and he's so drunk he spews on himself during
the way in. I'll keep your weight down. And then
at the end he's been interviewed by Joe Rogan and
he calls out Michel Obama's a man, Am I right?
This is the thing. If you say the most thing
(33:03):
and then just say am I right, you can get
away with it. This is modern America.
Speaker 6 (33:08):
I'm just going to start there. I reckon, we could
just do this, Am I right? Am I right? What
you can say the most outrageous thing to say? Am
I right? It's easy peasy.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
Well, coming up, we're going to be talking to Emma
Gillespie about Tyra Banks, who is suing Netflix over a
docco that she was involved.
Speaker 6 (33:21):
Yeah, because other ways works well, doesn't Am I right?
Speaker 2 (33:26):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Demanda podcast, so.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Men a request for them to do it again should
lay off the moonshine. Man, it's so weak. So Brendon,
I want to ask you this question. We're celebrating big
over the weekend. Course, no, I'm talking about the world
(33:53):
as its first trillionaire. And it may surprise you to
hear it's not mystic of foots from down the shop.
He was due was due to be the world's first trillionaire,
mystical thopes. No, it is Elon Musk. He is now
a trillionaire.
Speaker 6 (34:06):
What does that matter?
Speaker 4 (34:06):
How much?
Speaker 3 (34:07):
Actually, Ryan, can you read out to me what a
trillionaire is?
Speaker 7 (34:10):
Yes, so a trillion is one thousand billion.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
So this is best to put this in some sort
of perspective. How about this? So he has now a
trillionaire one point one trillion. He has because his space
company SpaceX had a Wall Street debut that's pushed his
stocks through the roof. So Jeff Bezos, who I thought
was neck and neck with him, is is eight hundred
(34:36):
and forty eight billion dollars poorer. Prah, it's a funny word.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Do you use me? Eight one hundred and forty eight
billion dollars poorer than Elon?
Speaker 6 (34:44):
How much does it s?
Speaker 3 (34:46):
So he's got two hundred and fifty one billion, and
that is eight hundred and forty eight billion dollars poor?
I wow, Rogers, what about this?
Speaker 4 (34:56):
Though? We should have a fundraiser for we have.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
A telephone for Jeff raised, let's buy more Amazon.
Speaker 6 (35:01):
He's on the line from Perth. Hi, Kathy, how much
do you want to give to Jeff?
Speaker 3 (35:05):
Twenty dollars A empty your piggy bank.
Speaker 6 (35:08):
That's nine push ups with me on A.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
How about this? If you have one dollar, you are
closer in wealth to Jeff Bezos than he is to
Elon Musk.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
So have you got one dollar?
Speaker 3 (35:24):
You are closer in wealth to Jeff Bezos than he
is to Elon.
Speaker 6 (35:28):
You know, if you are out for dinner with Elon,
you just.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Expect that I'll have a dozen oysters kill Patrick thirty
dollar bottle of wine.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
Because Elon's not going to be sitting there going over
the bill saying now I had the garlic breadth.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
According to his girlfriend Xenophobe or whatever her name was,
he remember, she said he was notoriously tight and wouldn't
buy her a new bed when her bed broke.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
That's right, she said, dude, get a.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Mattress, get a new mattress.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
Standing captain snooze. What was his girlfriend's name. She was
dressed up in like a in alf foil.
Speaker 3 (36:02):
Aton or something older.
Speaker 11 (36:08):
Yeah, grind.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
And she was dressed she was wearing alfoil out there
in the desert.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
He's had about eighteen baby mamas since then. Yeah, right,
so you know it's not cheap being him, That's not
what would you do if you were that rich? And
many people say I would solve world hunger, Well, this
came up for him. He actually asked the question of
the United Nations a number of years ago.
Speaker 14 (36:30):
I know you're not going to believe this, but once
upon a time, Elon Musk actually offered to end world hunger.
Like he asked online how much the UN thought it
would cost to end world hunger, and I think he
thought it was going to be some form of mic drop.
And then the UN actually did an itemized, summarized breakdown
and determined it would be around six point six billion
dollars to stop immediate famine in the world, so not
(36:53):
permanently ending world hunger, but at least temporarily, and it
would have solved a lot of the hunger crisis in
the world. And then Elon never really responded, and that
was when he had like fifty billion dollars. So I
get like six point six out of fifty. You know,
it's a lot of your billions, But now he has
a trillion, which is a thousand billions, which is a
(37:13):
thousand millions, So he is. But now he has a trillion,
which is a thousand billions, which is a thousand millions.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
That just hurts me.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Elon is the guy that's dividing up over the garlic bread.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Yes, I didn't have that sparkling water.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
A man that's ordered the soux fle I'm not paying
for that, and I can't wait.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
I didn't have a desert gem gam Nation.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
From The Daily. She's a big deal. She's Emma Gillespie.
Speaker 12 (37:51):
Hi, Hi, A bit of a curveball to talk about today.
Do you remember we chatted a few months ago about
this new documentary about America's Next Top Model. It exposed
all these allegations of misconduct, a kind of failure of
a duty of care towards a lot of the contestants,
and many of those allegations centered around Tyra Banks, the
(38:15):
supermodel and creator of America's Next Top Model. She participated
in the doco itself, but she is now suing Netflix
for defamation over the docu series. She's also suing the directors,
the production company, and basically, her lawsuit argues that Netflix
came to her about participating in the doco, she agreed
(38:38):
to do it in good faith. She sat down for
what was a three and a half hour interview, but
apparently we only got a grand total of sixteen minutes
of that interview, which of course is always the case
with these kinds of productions. But Tyra Banks is suing
because she says that her words have been taken and
(38:59):
twisted out of context, that they've been cherry picked and
resembled to tell a story that, in her words, is
a complete fabrication.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Is there a giant irony in this is because they're
obviously the complaints that contestants on those reality shows make.
Speaker 12 (39:15):
Exactly and a big part of the story arc of
this documentary series was all about how these contestants feel
ten twenty years down the track, about how they were
portrayed and how their edits were manipulated. But there are
two really serious allegations at the center of this lawsuit.
One of them revolves around this implication, or the alleged implication,
(39:36):
that Tyra Banks knowingly allowed a contestant to be sexually
assaulted and then exploited her trauma for ratings. This relates
to Shandy Sullivan. She was on season two a really
horrible incident that was framed as a cheating incident, but
basically there was lots of alcohol involved. She was really young.
(39:56):
Things got weird, and now Shandy in hindsight that she
looks back and considers that she was assaulted. But in
the docuseries, Tyra Banks is asked about this, there's this
kind of pause after she's asked the question, and it
seems like she doesn't remember that the assault happens. She
also says, you know, she can't speak about it because
it's a production issue. She said, that's not my territory.
(40:20):
But this lawsuit is saying Tyra Banks immediately told the crew,
I do remember that story, and she speaks more about
the sexual assaults. So apparently that was misrepresented in the
edit that we saw with this docuseriies. And there's a
second major threat in the lawsuit involving Miss j Alexander,
who was the beloved runway coach, one of the judges,
(40:41):
a fixture of Top Model for years and years now.
Miss Jay had a stroke in twenty twenty two, and
in this series, Miss Jay suggests on camera that Tyra
never visited him in hospital, has barely reached out, has
kind of ditched him. But this lawsuit says that Tyra
has been living in Australia for many years since before
this stroke, that she tried repeatedly to contact Miss Jay Alexander,
(41:04):
and that they were still exchanging messages as recently as Christmas.
So her laway's arguing, you know, she was never given
the chance to share any of this because the producers
didn't tell her what Miss Jay had alleged a bit
if he said she said. But this bigger picture is,
you know, this idea that Tyra Banks's reputation has been
really damaged by this show, and I'd say it probably
(41:25):
has been. You know, a lot of the contestants came
out and said some pretty intense stuff and described her
as a bit of a bully.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
There's a lot of.
Speaker 12 (41:33):
Former colleagues of hers who have been divided. So you know,
whether or not there are legs to this case, it
kind of remains to be seen. But as you said, Amanda,
she's sort of putting forward this argument that many of
the young women who have come before her on this
show have said too that you know, they don't like
being edited.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
They can't control the narrative.
Speaker 6 (41:50):
That's exactly. And if anything definiteation your cases. They always
end so well, don't they.
Speaker 12 (41:55):
They end well for everyone, and it's very cheap and
fun and no one loses any money, and everyone has
a great time.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
Everyone is happily ever after.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
Thank you em Thanks, Okay, your download is complete.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
Jams for pub test.
Speaker 13 (42:12):
Top test does not past the pub test, hup test
to tests, pup test test.
Speaker 6 (42:17):
The pup test doesn't pass the sniff test.
Speaker 4 (42:19):
Stop it.
Speaker 6 (42:19):
It's not.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
When I came into the fun Factory today there was
heated debate about this living forever in good health? Does it?
Speaker 6 (42:27):
Is it something would you would want?
Speaker 12 (42:29):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (42:29):
When we say forever, I guess it means extending your
life by a couple of decades. Controversial longevity scientist David
Sinkleir believes he's found the fountain of youth. The Harvard
Medical School genetics professor has his eyes on a one
hundred and one million dollar prize. That's the reward being
offered by X Prize Foundation, sponsored by the likes of
Elon Musk, et cetera. There is his name again. Well,
(42:51):
he's got all that money for the first researcher to
demonstrate a ten year reduction in physical age after a
treatment lasting less than one year, And he says, I'm
not saying exactly what it is just yet, but I
think I'm onto it. When I first joined Beyond two
thousand mozillion years ago, I was in the States and
I was filming a story on a man who was
into cryogenic storage for humans, and it seemed such science fiction.
(43:15):
And he said at the time, what we will do
eventually is we will have clones of ourselves with no
higher intelligence, builders harvest them for organs. And I thought, oh,
that's horrendous. I read a story this week that that's
what's being mooted, Brainless clones for organ transplants, a California
startups controversial project. This is artificial biological bodies engineered in laboratories,
(43:37):
devoid of consciousness, designed for organ production, for pharmaceutical testing
and for transplants. They say this is less controversial than
testing on animals. It says solution to our chronic shortage
of transplant organs. It sparked, however, outrage and has pushed
the company officially at the moment take a step back
(43:57):
because of the heated controversy.
Speaker 6 (43:59):
Well, but certainly, and contestants for Love Island.
Speaker 3 (44:01):
But ah, how big is the moon? But would you
like to live twenty years longer if you could be
in good health? Does everyone want to live to be
one hundred?
Speaker 4 (44:12):
I'm a big five of Highlander, the Highlander franchise that
can be Hemcloud. He was from the clan McLoud.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
He was always thirty.
Speaker 6 (44:21):
I was born in fifteen eighteen.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Will you answer the question.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
I was getting into Highland always thirty, wasn't he?
Speaker 6 (44:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (44:29):
It was.
Speaker 6 (44:30):
It was primo age.
Speaker 4 (44:32):
I reckon.
Speaker 6 (44:32):
He was probably forty two. Forty two is primo age?
Speaker 4 (44:35):
I reckon.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
But at some point, even if I was in good health,
I think I've had a good go. Let someone else
have a go, because of all, if you stay on,
no one's going to the world can't live like that,
and so people won't have babies. Who you're hogging? You're hogging?
What a big ego you have that you want to
stay long? Ball?
Speaker 6 (44:55):
Let someone else have it?
Speaker 3 (44:56):
Someone have a ball. And part of the human condition
in your acceptance of life fortunes, is that you have
a parabola in your life and then other people then
have a go and you leave the story your children's
lives and all of that before before it's finished. That's
the grace of our human condition. As you leave before
the story to.
Speaker 4 (45:15):
Live in another ten years on my life, just to
work out what parabola is.
Speaker 3 (45:22):
All right, this is how we're going to phrase this.
How are we going to phrase living forever ish in
good health? Do you want that? Does it pass the
pub tech.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
You can see a whole lot more of Jonesy and
demand or on our socials. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
That's money extra character of Jonesy and Amanda's.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
You have ten questions, You've got sixty seconds on the clock.
You can pass if you don't know an answer. We'll
come back to that question of time permits. If you
get all the questions right, you win one thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
You can make it two thousand dollars. You can double
your money, but it is double or nothing when you
answer a bonus question.
Speaker 4 (45:57):
Elon Musk would have a crack at this. I reckon
about the money. It's about proving your stones.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
It's easy for you to say that when you're desperate
for one thousand dollars. Jason's in Dingley, Hello Jason, Hello guy,
Well thank you.
Speaker 6 (46:11):
Are you desperate for money?
Speaker 15 (46:12):
I am?
Speaker 6 (46:13):
Or are you here for glory?
Speaker 15 (46:16):
Can we have a boat?
Speaker 6 (46:17):
Yeah, of course you can. You get money and glory.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
Of course you can't. You may walk away just with one.
But we've got ten questions here. We've got sixty seconds.
Say pass if you're not sure, Jason, we might come back. Okay, Jason,
here we go. He comes question number one? How many
sides are there to a square? Or question two? What
does a fish breathe through? Now our girls, I'm looking
(46:46):
at our producers. We can't give you. Oh, I'm so sorry.
I know why used to kiss it on the mouth, Jason.
Speaker 4 (46:55):
The the pub test is coming up next, and we've
been talking live forever in good health. Is that something
that you'd have to a crack at? O was listening
to that and I'm not really interested.
Speaker 3 (47:07):
No, I tend to agree. I'm not either. No, I'd
like to have a rest at some point.
Speaker 6 (47:12):
There's no shame in the fish answer.
Speaker 3 (47:13):
Though Jason's ranking.
Speaker 6 (47:19):
Jason just wants to move on, carry on about your business.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
Your fishing club, gem Nation.
Speaker 14 (47:25):
The pub Test top test does not past the pup
Test hub.
Speaker 6 (47:28):
Test tests up test Test. The test doesn't pass the
sniff test and stop it. It's not helpful.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
There's a big race to extend our lives. The controversial
longevity scientist David Sinclair believes he's found the fountain of youth.
It may only be for ten years, twenty years more,
but the idea is that why the arrogance? Well, if
we can have good health, why don't we hang around
much much? Much? Much like Land the man who cannot die.
Speaker 6 (47:55):
I am immortal, all of us. It can be only one.
What's your favorite highland?
Speaker 3 (48:00):
Tell me when you finish your favorite highland? Hello? What
about morning?
Speaker 6 (48:03):
Ramiary's was in a feet snob?
Speaker 4 (48:05):
I took his head and actually that could be dark?
Speaker 3 (48:08):
Well can I continue?
Speaker 11 (48:10):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (48:11):
See, I can't listen to this forever. You want to
listen to this? For that is the point. Most of us,
if we had a choice, would say I want good
health and then when I'm eighty or ninety, go to
sleep and that'll be it. If you're guarantee.
Speaker 6 (48:25):
Kicking and screaming like the kids in Dad's car exactly.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
That's the hard thing is that do you want to
be here forever? Even if you could, would you want to?
I don't think I like no. I think it's hugely
egotistical to think you deserve longer than one regular life.
Speaker 6 (48:43):
You could still die, you could still die in a
horrible accident.
Speaker 3 (48:47):
For those options, I appreciate, well, that would be the thing,
But I think the human condition, our lives are based
on the knowledge that at a certain time it winds down.
How would it be if you didn't have that. I
wouldn't like it at all. So let's put it this way.
Forget all of you land living forever in good health.
Does it pass the pub test?
Speaker 11 (49:07):
No, it does not, because life's exhausting enough as it is,
and I also hate change, can't stand it. That definitely
doesn't pass the pub.
Speaker 5 (49:16):
Test for me.
Speaker 10 (49:17):
I reckon, Yes, it does pass the pub test, but
under one condition only if my partner, my wife, was
given the same thing and she can live for the
same amount of time with me. If she died before me,
I wouldn't want to listen to the extra time.
Speaker 11 (49:29):
Nothing worse than outliving your kids or your grandkids. Fancy
having to bury everybody else and you keep going.
Speaker 8 (49:35):
I think it's disgusting.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
Yes it does.
Speaker 11 (49:37):
I know someone who I've known for over forty years.
We never got.
Speaker 3 (49:42):
Together, and now we finally got together, and I'm.
Speaker 5 (49:47):
In my lib sixties. Not a chance. I want to
exit in good health and when it comes to time,
get the hell off this planet. You've only get a
look at GENDERZ and the unrealistic life they live today,
and I'm like, I do not want to be surrounded
by the fraternity. No, thank you, get me out of here.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
I was touched by the story of the worst. I'm
in my sixties and I've just found him. I want
it forever.
Speaker 6 (50:11):
What about the guy that wants to live with his
wife forever?
Speaker 3 (50:14):
I saw you pull a face Friday, U two.
Speaker 7 (50:18):
That's you.
Speaker 3 (50:19):

all of that up.
