How often is this going to go on? Happy fifteenth
day after census? How'd you go?

Speaker 4 (00:46):
I filled out the senses for all the people in
the house.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
It's interesting, isn't it, Because a lot of those questions
are your religion and things like that in your belief
system and your sexuality. When one person fills it up
for everyone, what happened?

Speaker 6 (00:56):
Well?

Speaker 4 (00:57):
It was that was some fun times many many so, mate,
How long have you been a homosexual for? You know
all that sort of stuff?

Speaker 3 (01:04):
You say that to your wife?

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:08):
Did you hog it so that you've got to do it?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
I kind of like I like paperwork, do you? Yeah?
I don't mind.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
I didn't know that about it.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
I don't mind it. I like everything's tickety boo. And
it was interesting, you know. I thought it out for
my mom as well, because she's you know, in.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Did you say she was a homosexual, She would have
loved that. From the planet throwing doing.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
A bit of respite at the moment. My sister keeps
calling it speet as a joke.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
She's a highly educated, smart one.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
My sister's an airline pip that she flew with a
guy called Speak and I said, go Spee and she said, Yeahspee.
And one day a drink she said, it is gon
Tos be coming. Because she never pronounced his name.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
She just seemed his name to you.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
What was it Giuseppe?

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Wown't Did she ever make the announcements.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
She does once once fun time. She you know those
little junior flyer books.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
Oh yeah, gold, you get your little junior fly back.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
So you had like this gold embossed book, you know,
through with Captain Carruthers to Bangkok and it was a
great flight on the old Constellation and we landed with
one hundred and twenty souls on board, and it was
a great flight, signed Captain Carruthers. So that's back in
the fifties that have been handed down from generation to generation.
My sister flies into Darwin and the kid comes up,

(02:32):
can the captain please sign this? And she writes flew
into Darwin good flight or good and Darwin's spelt wrong.
She's written down and put an R.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Like little kid has it all good?

Speaker 4 (02:47):
It looks like a serial killers.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
It's best that people don't know that about the pilot.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
I can say this because she's out of season.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Now, she's having some respec.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
The thing is because she keeps saying with speet so speed.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Where she got that from?

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Anyway? I said it to the doctor as because I'm
used to saying respeed as a joke. Yeah, And the
doctor looked at me and he said it his respite.
I mean, yes, yes, I understand it's my And then
you came.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
To know so you look like the fool.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
I look like the fool. Actually back show today, Emma
Leslie's going to be joining us.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
I've been listening to her podcast to Daily Ours and
it featured a very interesting discussion about Australia's gambling issues.
That are these days, you know, it's not always just
the pokey's and the horses. The sports betting is out
of control. She's got some interesting stuff to say about that.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
We have not two thousand, but four thousand dollars to
give away. Yesterday we gave away one thousand dollars with
Instagram and we gave away two thousand dollars as well.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
But it all kicks off with a fast five yep.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Thirteen fifty five to twenty two. If you'd like to
play why did you call us on gold?

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Jam Liasis of La Jonesy and demanders fast five?

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Fast five is here? Five questions? Can you go all
the way? Answer all five questions correctly? If you do that,
Amanda will say.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
If you answer question five correctly, a two hundred and
fifty dollars fuel card.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Scotty is in Cogra.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Well, his name is Scott. Do you like being called
Scotty Scott by a special friend exactly?

Speaker 7 (04:14):
So?

Speaker 3 (04:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
I've had a few Scotties in my life. Got Scotty
May's I've got Scotty cam and what's the block? The
other night Scotty had to apologize to that fitness.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Influence Why what did he done?

Speaker 4 (04:25):
As the county error and the fitness influencer was worried
that his integrity had been bought under scrutiny.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
An accounting eraror mis screw knows how to do ten
squats ten times ten is one hundred.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Well, it was interesting when he walked out to face
the come to Jesus talk, the influencer booked his head
on the dour integrity intact.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Scott's question number one. Which small Southern African mammal is
known for standing upright to look out for predators? It's
very cute, a little mere can.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Let's play riff raft, Scotty, gotta keep out the riff.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Ra Okay, Scott? Which song features this riff?

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Oh, that's a good riff?

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Any ideas is stuck in the middle with you.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
Jokers to the raid here? I am famously used in
reservoir docs. Queen's lead guitarist Brian May famously uses what
object instead of a traditional car pick guitar pick? Is
it a a coin? Be a bread clip or see
a credit card? A coin?

Speaker 3 (05:54):
It is a coin? He uses a British sixpence.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
I didn't know this.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
He prefers older pre nineteen fifty coins because their softer
nickel silver alloy provides a unique feel and distinct tonal crunch.
All right, Brian, just get on and sing your songs
and get off.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
So that's how Brian gets his unique, unique style.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
His unique style. Luckily it's not a bread clip, because
how do you know if his bread was fresh? Question
number four, Which European country is the birthplace of Lego
or Lego as they like to say, Denmark is quite much.
Let me give you some stats. There are on average
eighty Lego bricks for every single person on our planet.

(06:34):
That's incredible, eighty per person.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Get your shoes up and walk across that. Scott, you
are a question four, question five. That's what I mean.
You just answer question four correctly. Now you're a question five.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
You're gonna ask a big question.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Well, you can hang around for three minutes to twenty
six section seconds, which is the duration of Fleetwood max.
Little lies. You can leave this place if you want,
or you can come back.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Why would you leave? To do you hang around? Scott?
One more question?

Speaker 6 (07:05):
I'll hang around for you guys.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Okay, we appreciate it. Thank you, Scott, Scotty as we
now know you as.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
GM Jonesy and demands five fast vibe When we last
left Scott was sitting waiting patiently on the line. What
have we learned about Scott? He is called Scotty among
his friends.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yeah, and by the end of our time together, I
felt we qualified as I.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Think are we at Scotty status now, Scott?

Speaker 6 (07:34):
I think we've bonded over the first four questions, So yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
I'm going to lean into it.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
All right, Scotty, Well, here we come to question number five?
Are you ready stomach say me?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
He didn't say you.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
I didn't call it. Did I call him?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Scotty?

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Doesn't sound like you're giving me permission.

Speaker 8 (07:54):
Well, you know, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (07:55):
I don't know who.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
We're quite there yet.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
All right, Scott? All right? Got the question is what's
my mother's maiden name? No, not really, that's not the question.
Don't poke the spider, Scott. Here's the question. Victorian authorities
are planning to round up five thousand little penguins over
several weeks to vaccinate them against.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
What bird flue is.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
What's going on there is the breed called little penguins
rhyme or is that your version just saying they're fairy penguins?

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Yeah? I think that's there's very.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Thousands of little penguins from Philip Island will be herded
into a pen. They're going to get a vaccine against
bird flu. Victorian authorities have said this will be the
largest vaccination of wild birds globally, unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
Five thousand of them.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
That's a lot.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Did there be some andy VAXA little penguins in there
as well.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
They're opting for no fluoride in their water as well, and.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
So Pete Evans haircut.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Look at those chem trials.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
Congratulations to you, Scott. You've won the jam pack or
should I say Scotty two hundred and fifty dollars worth
fuel coming your way.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Guys, have a thank you Scott.

Speaker 4 (09:04):

How do you win? I'm glad you are tell me
each day one of us, we'll give you five keywords
that you would need to remember in that order.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Yes, so we will ask you later in the show
to call us. If you can recount those words in
that order, you will get two thousand dollars. If not,
we go to the next cor on the line.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Today, I'm selecting these words. Remember these words?

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Well, I know, okay, you're picking things.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
I'd be in the words. They're just random words. They've
just come to my head in the last four minutes.
Today's words munch, lionel, requirements, breaker, and oily.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
These are all in joke. They're all in jokes from
you and me over twenty years.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Okay, so there's no rhyme or reason to those words
only you.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
All come from you.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
No, and i'd even remember the origins of them.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
I remember, Yes, they're all they're savory, I think.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
About some unusual experiences we've shared.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Or anyway, are the words.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
We'll ask you later on the show to keep me
to either register at Jones Indamanda dot com dot you,
or call us later on in the show, not now
at thirteen fifty five to recount those words in that
weird order and you win some money.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
Nothing weird about two thousand dollars, friend.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
That is true.

Speaker 9 (11:08):
M damnation Skippy peanut Butter fuel the fun with every spoonful.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Available at Woolli's for your local grosser.

Speaker 9 (11:16):
Six Joy can stop working with making slat.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Make you go yeah tiptok tuck. We make food from
TikTok and eat it. And today we asked for your contribution.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
We've been asking you for your peanut butter recipes. This
is thanks to Skippy. We've been delighting in their peanut butter.
You can get super chunk creamy or that's another super chunk.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Set out. We're in a store.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
I like it, don't you. So today we're going to
be making a recipe sent to us by Travis Hurst
in Perth, and he said that this is a saute jaffle.
This is his family's go to comfort meal. And when
I read the ingredients, I thought it sounds like it
could be delightful, but it's got some unusual ingredients. First
of all, are you ready? Yep, We're going to get

(12:06):
some bread. I'll make one and then I'll make the
others later on you all, So let's just do a
demo model.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Just white bread, just white bread. So we've got that,
and now I'm white of the bread, the closer to dead.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Which of the skippies will we use?

Speaker 4 (12:21):
Oh, go creamy, let's go creamy. Now go super chuck,
super chuck.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
No no, no, let's not go super chup. Let's go creamy.
Oh will you take that seal off? Actually I've just
done it. There we go. So we spread peanut butter
onto our bread. Look at that. That looks delish peanut butter.
I'll do it on both sides because I can't.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
It's spread so well.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
On top of that, we add some shredded barbecue chicken
bachelor handbag that goes on top. I shouts, do that
on one?

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Where did you get that from from the shop?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
So that goes there. Then we add some grated tasty cheese,
which I have here. Where's that being stored unless you've
timed yourself around me opening that? And then this is
where it gets interesting. We add a drizzle of sweet
chili sauce. Right would you call that a drill?

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Hell?

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Sorry, I'll take something a glom. I'll take some off,
all right, anyway, I munch that in a bit. The
next bit is fascinating. A handful of crushed salt and
vinegar chips. You're going to crush them in the bag.
Here a handful of crushed salt and vinegar chips, and
then press that down, put the top bit of the

(13:37):
bread on top, and then we toast that until it's golden.
So what I will do is I'll put this into
our I'll make the other two put them into our
sandwich toaster. When we return, we will be eating this delicious.
What if we called it sarte jaffle?

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Be a better name than that? Will you call it Hursties.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
Hurst's Jaffo coming up next?

Speaker 4 (14:03):
Hopefully not or Big Travis's Jaffle. We'll come up with something.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
I'll just eat the chips while you decide.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Demanda podcast now about
a miracle of recording.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Jonesy and Amanda and Amanda are two great names. I'm
not a scatters the chemistry between them, but how much
find your own business and shut your piehole.

Speaker 6 (14:26):
I wish you were with your show.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Wednesday is TikTok Tucket today and today we're enjoying Travis
Hurst's jaffle.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
Yes, we ask for your peanut butter recipes because we're
doing all these things to skippy today. And this, he said,
is his families go to comfort meal. So we're making
a sandwich. It is a jaffle, as you say, Is
it jaffle the same as a toasted sandwich? Does jaffel
need to be sealed on the edges?

Speaker 4 (14:48):
Yes, but we're not doing that. No.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
All right, I've got our sandwich maker in here, sandwich press.
So I've I've got bread, I've put skippy smooth or
creamy peanut butter on it. I've put some shrim barbecue chicken,
tasty cheese, a drizzle of sweachili sauce. And here's the
essentially unusual but delicious ingredient. I had to squash up
some salt and vinegar chips on top. So these are

(15:12):
now on our sandwich press. I'm about to turn it
on and when we return we will be eating our starta.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
We need about eight minutes for a perfect toasted sandwich.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Okay, let's do it.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
Okay, So the length of these two songs that we
have ryan exactly, Yeah, pretty much. What are the chances?

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Okay, sandwiches are cooking.

Speaker 9 (15:34):
Jamous skippy peanut butter fuel. The fun with every spoonful
available at Woolies for your local Grosser six.

Speaker 6 (15:45):
Stuff.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Working with Macon.

Speaker 4 (15:47):
Slat make you go yeah, TikTok Tucker, we make food
from TikTok and eat it today. Travis Hurst has sented
his toasted sandwich. We call it Hirsty's toast sandwich.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Wow, it's so o bleak.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Hey, you know what you look like? You look like
one of those ladies at a lunch shop that you know.
You go in my gloves on, gloves on, and you
got your apron and you go in there and you
have a bit of flirty band. Hey there done? How
are you?

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Do you want onion on your sandwich or do you
just smell of BeO?

Speaker 4 (16:18):
No? I wanted the flirty chat.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
That is my fluty chat. That's as flirty as it gets.

Speaker 4 (16:23):
Might go next door.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
What we've done? You said eight minutes. If I'd let
these sandwiches cooked eight minutes, a fiber gay would have been.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Right out on some toaster.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Oh whatever.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Different here we are.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
So we were making Travis Hurst's Sarte jaffle and he
said this is his families go to comfort meal. So
this is what we've done, bread peanut butter with us skippy,
creamy peanut butter. We've put some retisserie chicken on the
top of that, like a.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
Cooked chok Yep.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
We've put some sweechly sauce. We have put some shredded cheese.
You then made all of us heave a little bit
your bare hands. You had to scrunch up some salt
and vineon chips. You said, let me make one, and
we watched you scrunch it so slowly. It was watching
you dermatited.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
I got a nice grind.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Anyway, we have now cooked these. I'm going to drop
yours cut in half.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Yeah, can you cut it into quarters?

Speaker 3 (17:12):
No, Ryan, here's yours.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
I'm going to get it there a joint next door.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
All right, Brendan, here's yours. I'm taking that into halves.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
And this next one obviously is mine.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
He's toasted sanger.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Host is toasted sanger. I think it might be delicious,
but it's an unusual combination of ingredients. No, I haven't
on mine either. Get over it. When I say go
we eat gin chin, here we go. Oh my goodness,
that is that is a winner.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Wow, Ryan, It's like a sarte sandwich.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
The sweet chili sauce through the peanut, but obviously he's
a Sarte fronchie yep bit also of the chip, and.

Speaker 4 (18:04):
I was going to say put the Skippy Chunk peanut
butter in there, but I think with the chips it'd
be too much crunch. It's a right and man, you've
got the creamy, you got the chips, you got the chicken,
you got the sweet chili. It's all there.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
I think that is absolutely delicious and thank you.

Speaker 4 (18:18):
All I like is a friendly face when I get
my service.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Let's lask for too much. But Travis is one. Tell
what is one?

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Travis? You've on five hundred dollar woolworst voucher, three cases
of Skippy peanut butter, and a Skippy merch pat.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
How got that? We've signed the hat and probably devalued it,
but there you go.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Maybe Trav doesn't want that. Thank you so much and
thanks to Skippy peanup.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
Flap down and make you go yack an bite, go
for it. This is a very interesting discussion. We're not
talking about the arm rest on an aeroplane because I
know that that's a major point of contention. So apparently
I'm reading here it's long being established by flight attendants
and aviation professionals that the middle seat is entitled to

(19:01):
both armor reas.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
I feel that that, however, is by the by put
that aside, because today we're not talking about the armress.
We're talking about the blind, the window shade. This woman
has said she sparked an argument. Actually, she's asked who
controls the window shade on a flight. She said she
had the window seat. She said allows her to rest
her head and not off blah blah. She had a

(19:23):
recent eleven and a half hour journey from Istanbul to Chicago.
She said she kept the shade closed to get in
a few extra hours of sleep. She woke towards the
end of the flight, startled by a blast of sunlight.
She said the person sitting next to her in the
middle seat had opened the window shade and was snapping
photos of Chicago's iconic skyline as they landed.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
Ooh.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
She's asking, is it a free for all or does
the person who has the window seat m got control?

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Because usually the host he does all that comes over
as you're landing, opens up the shades. But because I
think that takes away the awkwardness, I will say this
person sitting in the middle has a lot of stones
to reach across someone and open that blin.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
But what about the person who's got the window seat?
Who makes that call for everybody? Because you don't pay
more for a window seat. You can ask for a window,
you don't pay more for a window seat.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
Yeah, so my wife loves the window seat. Harley loves
it the first time she's ever been on a plane, looks.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Out the window. When the kids and I fly with Harley,
everyone knows that's his seat.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Gental records, everyone call that, is there anyone that can
fly this plan?

Speaker 3 (20:38):
And He'll say I can, but I can't right now
because I'm looking out the window. But it's interesting because
people go, well that, you know, how dare she the
middle person lean over? Et cetera. But where does the
person next the window get off? It makes me think,
whose right is it to decide that for everybody in
that line in the aisle?

Speaker 4 (20:57):
It's an interesting one.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
What do you think, Brendon?

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Well, as I say, the window seat person controls the
for the entire duration of the floor. With that responsibility
comes great Well, with that power comes great responsibility, because
you know you've got to be mindful of the person
sitting in the middle. There might be some guy jeth
Throw he's never been on a plane in his life
and he's got OHO. So you think, okay, there.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Much just that I like a day flight because I
don't like the pressure of having to sleep. Flights love
it when you because they want you to go to sleep,
so you're not demanding. They just want you to go
to sleep. So they want to pull those blinds down
and make everyone go to sleep, even if it's two
in the afternoon.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Off you go.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
You're all going to sleep, and.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Put him down at two in the outer But if I.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Don't, I prefer to have the window up while this
sunlight outside. Doesn't matter what the time zone is. But this,
as you say, sometimes a flight at tenant will put
it down. But if a person puts it down, yep,
I don't know how can they make that decisions?

Speaker 4 (21:50):
Like the driver of a car controls hysterea, So who
sits next window?

Speaker 3 (21:55):
That's the owner of the car. That's who makes these persons.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
You're a rental car, whatever you're driving the car.

Speaker 3 (22:00):
If you're driving the car, you're just sitting at the window.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Where were you control that particular bit of infrastructure?

Speaker 3 (22:08):
Is that the rule or you'mus making that up?

Speaker 4 (22:10):
That's that's my rule. That's how I would roll.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Does everyone roll the same way? I don't know. Is
this maybe a tribal drum?

Speaker 4 (22:17):
No? No, tribal drum wouldn't be for this.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
How about a pub test?

Speaker 4 (22:20):
It's not a pub test?

Speaker 3 (22:21):
Is it a whippole? Is it a would you rather?
What do we call that.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
Chat? What?

Speaker 2 (22:29):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (22:30):
You know it is?

Speaker 4 (22:31):
We've opened a can of worms, Ryan, it's a can
of worms?

Speaker 3 (22:37):
What's that noise?

Speaker 4 (22:40):
And there's the words.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Because stop stop it's too aggressive.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
I've got a can of worms. Be aggressive.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Those sound effects are horrendous. And who put you in
charge of them?

Speaker 4 (22:53):
By the by, it's a can of worms.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
It's a can of worms.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
We have opened a can of worms.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Closing the blind on a plane? Who gets to decide?
Does anyone get to decide? Is it the person at
the window? Is it their choice or not?

Speaker 4 (23:06):
The person at the window, it's their choice, right or wrong?
It's their choice.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
I don't agree. I don't know whose choice it is.
Maybe the flight attendant. I don't think an individual can
choose it for.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Everybody, Amanda, You've opened a real can of worms.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Okay, no, don't play it again. Come on, I'd switch
over to smooth.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
If I was. You don't want well, that's they're playing
this right now, AMSR. People are getting off. They go yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Jones and Amanda can't shut up on the Jonesy and
Amanda podcast. Download the free iHeart.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Out closing the blind on a plane. Who gets to decide? No,
it's not a whippole, it's not a pub test, nor
is it water cooler chat.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Who gets to decide?

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Brendan you No, it just works, Okay. I like things
in its place. And what you have opened here is
a can of worms. Friend, that's what you write, and
we still posit the worms onto the table there.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
It was sparked.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
This is sparked, okay, argument because the woman was on
a flight. Some along flight she closed the blind a
sleep as they were landing in Chicago. She had this
blast of light in a face and at worker up
because the person in the middle seat leant over to
open it so they could take photos out the window.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
I'm going to contradict myself here and think, if you're
landing in a city and they've pulled the blind down,
you're in the middle seat. I think he can do
the reach over. I think he can. But I'll say this,
if I was in that window seat, I would have
had the presence of mind to not be a big
hog and leave it down.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
But who is in charge?

Speaker 4 (24:42):
The person in the window seat. So if you can't
handle the responsibility of controlling the blind, then the window seat,
my friend, is not for you.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Not responsibility. It's the generosity of spirit.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
It's responsibility.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
No, well then what if you want to responsibility right.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
People to put their seat back. They're the same people.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
It's not responsibility, it's being a good citizen.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Anyway, it's a can of worms. Okay, well, let's see
what you think Connie is in phraser rise.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Hi, Connie closing the blind on a plane? Who gets
to decide?

Speaker 6 (25:11):
Ah?

Speaker 8 (25:12):
I think it depends on the flight too, But I
think if it's on a long slite, if you're descending,
definitely has to be up. If a person wants to sleep,
put one of those things across your eyes and fall asleep.
Because I'm like an aisle seat because I don't want
to disturb anyone if I've got to go to loose.
So doesn't mean I just have to sit there and
not get up if someone wants to go to the loop.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
True, Conny, I tend to agree when you want to plan,
the great responsibility befalls on everywhere.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
It's not responsibility, it's manners.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Thank you. Connie Aubrey has joined us.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
Hello Aubrey. Who gets to decide if the blind's up
or down?

Speaker 8 (25:45):
Windows seat person?

Speaker 1 (25:47):
You pay the extra fare for it?

Speaker 3 (25:49):
Do you do pay extra for a window seat sometimes?

Speaker 4 (25:53):
What about those little self contained ones that you go
in Amanda with the spa just back from the pilot.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Even the soap has a seatbelt?

Speaker 4 (26:03):
Thank you, Thank you. Katie's in se Kilda, Hello Katie.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
What do you think who gets to control the blind?

Speaker 1 (26:09):
I do think the window seat person? But there it's
a courtesy thing, like if you're descending into an exciting
city like I don't know, put it up, and don't
they make you put it down anyway during when you're
going down, or if you're in the middle, like I'll
excuse me, you might if you pop it up, I
take a few pictures. I'm sorry, do not reach over
me and open it and start taking photos.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
What if you're asleep, though, What if you're asleep would
you rather someone woke you up and said, do you
mind if I moved the blind or they just quietly
went to do it.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Yeah, that's a sketchy party. I do not know about
if like, but what if I was woken up by that,
I'd like scream, yeah, yeah, thank you.

Speaker 4 (26:46):
It's a good can of worms. Amanda's in French as far?

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Oh, Amanda, who's responsible for the blind?

Speaker 5 (26:52):
Hi?

Speaker 6 (26:52):
If you don't mind, can I just quickly say I
love your new time slot and now I can listen to.

Speaker 11 (26:57):
You on the way home from work.

Speaker 3 (26:58):
Oh, you can say that any time you like and
praise Thank you, Amanda.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
Thank you, that's okay. I think it's definitely not the
window seats person to be in charge of the window.
It's the pilot and the cabin crew and a lot
of the time when you take off and land, I
say that you must leave the window up for safety reason.
So I think it's definitely not the window seats person's

(27:27):
opinion to do that. But I do think that the
person sitting by the window has full control of looking
out the window and can hog the window and not
let anyone else look out the window.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Mean they should be allowed to if they want to
hog it just by sticking their big head out the
window in the window in the way.

Speaker 6 (27:45):
That's okay, yes, And if the other people don't like
it too bad, they should have booked a window seat.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Okay, all right, thank you?

Speaker 4 (27:52):
And AND's going to rub this up?

Speaker 3 (27:54):
And what do you think who gets to who gets
to control the blind?

Speaker 7 (27:58):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (27:59):
Are you talking to me?

Speaker 4 (28:00):
We're talking to you. And what are your taxi driver?

Speaker 11 (28:05):
That was a quick okay, Look, I I was recently
on a flight and I know you have picked them
up landing and taking off.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
Yep.

Speaker 11 (28:14):
However, before we landed recently, the sunshine was absolutely blinding
me in the eyes. I was on the window seat,
and I must admit I had to close it just
a little bit. I was very courteous. I didn't close
it completely, but I did close it. And the other

(28:36):
two gentlemen. Besides, he didn't send tomize. But you didn't
say anything.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Yeah, but that's that's what I'm talking about. Anne, with
great power comes great.

Speaker 3 (28:45):
You sound like you were aware.

Speaker 4 (28:47):
And I see the sun streaming and blinding everyone on
the plane, so you said, well, I'll pull it down.

Speaker 9 (28:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:52):
And if the other people had had a problem you
would have paid attention.

Speaker 8 (28:55):
Yeah, absolutely, I think we've all got to be courteous.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
Yes, I think that's it. Thank you, can of worms.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Is this going to be a thing now?

Speaker 4 (29:03):
I think it's a thing that's already happened. You opened
the can of worms. Don't blame me, don't shoot the messenger.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
I think you just want to use every sound effect
in the archive at some point. That's a particularly terrible one.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
What we need is the sound of the worms going
back into it. Till next time, Till next time.

Speaker 12 (29:21):
Gam Nation.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
Gold, It's Jonesy Demanda driving you home from the Daily Os.
She is the editor. Emma Gillespie.

Speaker 7 (29:52):
Well, hello, we're hearing a lot about gambling reforms at
the moment, aren't we.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
And I must say I heard a really good example
of what this means and how bad Australians are at
gambling on your podcast, The Daily Odds.

Speaker 6 (30:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (30:07):
So we have been unpacking this in case anyone's not
fully up to speed. There's this debate going on in
Parliament this week. There's changes being put forward by Labor
that would limit gambling ads. They would ban gambling ads
from live sport from Jerseys and there's this stous going
on in camera between all sides of politics. The Coalition,

(30:29):
the Greens, and the Independents are all pushing the government
to do more. They're saying that this bill doesn't go
far enough, and that all ties into this current state
of play being that Australia records the highest gambling losses
per capita in the world, which I think is an
absolutely shocking start when you consider a place like Vegas,

(30:49):
when you consider these kind of high rolling parts of
the world, Australia is the worst. Our national losses come
in at around thirty six billion dollars a year. That
is more than a thousand dollars a year for every
single adult in the country. Wow, is staggering, right, And
a lot of this conversation at the moment is centering

(31:12):
around sports gambling specifically. Obviously Poke's losses are huge, but
the national conversation right now is really looking at sports gambling,
how is it affecting everyday people, especially young men, And
there's this big conversation around inducements going on. So these
are these kinds of bonus bets, these enticements that we
see from sports betting apps that problem gamblers are saying

(31:35):
are really hard to walk away from. You might go
into the weekend thinking, you know, not this weekend, I'm
going to have a break, and then you get a
text message from an app saying here's two hundred dollars
worth of bonus bets and credits. So there's that happening.
At the same time, you know, we're learning that the
AFL and the NRL themselves are profiting directly from the

(31:56):
betting on their own games. That was shocking to hear
that tens of millions of dollars a year combined. So
we've learned all of this from a recent Senate inquiry
into these gambling reforms, and that's where we heard from
problem gamblers who said that, you know, they had been
offered drugs, escorts, all these unlawful inducements to get them

(32:18):
to stay on the platforms. And with that, there's a
new report from FAIR This is the Foundation for Alcohol
Research and Education, which dropped a report last week finding
alcohol companies now sponsor every single AFL and NRL club
in Australia and about three quarters have affiliations with gambling sponsorships,

(32:44):
which I think when you consider you know, sport young fans,
there are all these concerns about how deeply these industries
alcohol as well as gambling have become embedded in Australian sport.

Speaker 3 (32:57):
Was it true that, like the clubs themselves, elves make
money every time someone places a bit?

Speaker 7 (33:03):
Yes, the clubs themselves have these arrangements, and I think
that that's not been very transparently communicated with fans, sporting fans,
gamblers themselves, with the community at large. The conversation for
so long has been around Pokey's right. We know poker
machines are huge, it's a separate revenue stream. But now
we're learning about the extent of these alcohol and gambling

(33:24):
relationships with these sporting clubs and the codes generally. This
research really maps that out, and I think, you know,
when you consider all the young fans and how embedded
these relationships have become. Rightly so, there are these conversations
about what are the broader long term impacts of these sponsorships.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
Goodness, go back to harmless cigarettes, those old harmless warmless cigarettes.
Thanks bring them back. Thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (33:52):

Speaker 4 (35:13):
Now, motorcyclist will attest to this when you're riding along
with your own thoughts and then internal earpod or AirPod
just comes up with the heaps of stuff.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Well, these are five words that make no sense to
anyone but you, Brendan, and a couple of references to
very old jokes that you and I have enjoyed for
the last twenty years. But having said that, if you're
trying to work out a sequence, there isn't one. There
is five random.

Speaker 4 (35:36):

Well that's how it goes that. This is a competition.
Two thousand dollars And if you'd like to register to
play Jonesindamanda dot com DoD are you we can call
us tomorrow at thirteen fifty five twenty two When it's
your turn. Mus there's been some controversy around a new
children's toy. It's designed for people with children who are
for and over. It's been I think Big w has

(37:46):
taken it off the shelves because it's been some controversy.
I'll explain what it looks like before we go to
the ad and what people are saying about it. It's
it's called chest to cheeks. I think that's what it's
called in the States. Here it might be called butt
face or bum face. And it is a bum that's
got headphones on its head. And it's obviously buttocks with

(38:08):
the split down the middle.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
Of course, and two eyes on it. I know how
buttocks work.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
At the door. Hit you with a good lord splitcher,
it's one of my favorite sayings. So there's two eyes
on it, and it jiggles up and down and does
all kinds of things and makes noises. Here is the
American ad for Chester Cheeks.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
What's that?

Speaker 7 (38:27):
It's Chester Cheeks, the ultimate but face prankster squeeze and
he lets it rep.

Speaker 3 (38:35):
He's dropping feet, jiggling cheeks.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
He's full of gas.

Speaker 10 (38:39):
Power, pranks up his sleeve.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
That little far Chester always up.

Speaker 3 (38:44):
To cheeky tricks.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Warny because explosive laughter.

Speaker 12 (38:49):
An uncontrollable wiggle, dancy Chester cheeks from buttbas by Goliath.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
What's the idea of a grown up getting the call
to going to do that voiceover? So good? I giggled
all the way through that I'm terrible.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
So it made this toy?

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Well, someone has made this toy and it jiggles up
and down, makes flatulence noises and it you know, bashing
on the head networks all this just America. No, I
think it's been a well. A woman in Queensland spotted
the toy at her local big W and she said
it was thought it was inappropriate. She said that she
and her husband felt sick after noticing their children looking

(39:24):
at it. It's It's been reported that many social media
users agreed with her and said it was time.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
For a recall.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
Big W has stopped selling the controversial toy. This is
interesting because concerns were raised by child safety experts who
feel that we should not be teaching children that it's
fun to touch your body parts and for other people
to touch them and to spread your cheeks and all
that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (39:50):
How anatomical is it?

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Oh? I'll show you a picture. I've scribbled on that one, right,
I was doodling, but I didn't know what was going
on in a Mexican with a mustache. But that's just
me scribbling and doodling what the show was on. I
just basically, it's a bum and you can stretch it
and it'll make it. Well, here's what the news story

(40:14):
in Australia has said.

Speaker 12 (40:15):
It's a bum with a face, and a lot of
parents reckon, well it stinks.

Speaker 7 (40:21):
I definitely would not buy that for my child.

Speaker 9 (40:25):
I think that's the wrong kind of definitely the wrong
kind of toy for a two year.

Speaker 10 (40:30):
Old or any child for that much.

Speaker 12 (40:31):
Like no, it might seem innocent enough, but once you
find out what it does, it could be perceived as
far more sinister. The packaging promotes the toy as something
you can stretch, squeeze.

Speaker 3 (40:48):
And basically to work.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
Right, Yeah, I'd say I'm not a wowser, but I'd
say no, no, you know it was when I was
a kid those at the toys that were banned.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
You were probably of the era where you could fire
an air ri could you buy it in someone's actual bump?

Speaker 4 (41:07):
But I remember smash Up Derby that got band, remember
Bang Crash, smash them up, smash fun like tons of
chokable parts. I see shoke old crazey with that thing.

Speaker 6 (41:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (41:16):
And then there was slime.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Why did that get banned?

Speaker 4 (41:19):
Because I think it just got everywhere. So they added
worms to it, slime with worms, and then they put
on it not non toxic, so people thought I could
eat it. So all the kids were eating the slime.
But the worst one was six million dollar Man, Bionic
Woman Crazy foam, and it was a bath foam that

(41:39):
looked like a shaving foam, but it filled your whole
bath with foam, but the active ingredient was flammable, so
the whole thing would be a cauldron. You put your
kids in the bath. Dad did come in with a smoke.

Speaker 3 (41:52):
Dad had come in with the smoke. Those were the days,
They were.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
The simple times.

Speaker 3 (41:55):
At the same I was given a doll as an
adult as a joke was a pitter andre dog and
it was not recommended for children under three because of
small parts. He's not going to recover from that.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
A funky junkie indeed what he was called now his
song was a funky junkie.

Speaker 3 (42:13):
Did you know about Chester cheeks.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
Maybe that should a co lab.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
I'm embarrassed that I've giggled all through that chester cheek sad,
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (42:24):
You can see a whole lot more of Jonesy and
Amanda on our socials. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
