Speaker 3 (02:11):
I've been to theater with Brendan where he treats it
like he's at the football. I've had to walk over
empty cans to leave my seat up to his as
a drink chucks it on the floor. I think, hang on,

things have happened while we were away. We have to
catch ourselves.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
We missed a lot of stuff, but we can't do
anything until we do the fast five.

Speaker 7 (02:56):

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Would you have done something?

Speaker 7 (03:15):

Speaker 3 (03:19):
Your wife phone means had get him.

Speaker 7 (03:21):
Back to wood Where you go and do something?

Speaker 3 (03:23):
I said, he hasn't worked here for three years. I

day and heads on out.

Speaker 7 (03:29):
There's nothing in there but a sandwich and an apple.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Of late Jonesy and demands five.

Speaker 6 (03:43):

Today's prize a two hundred and fifty dollars fuel voucher.
Ooh who from just says that where from us?

Speaker 7 (03:55):

Yeah? Has the straits of Home moves going? Is that
deal done?

Speaker 1 (04:01):
No?

Speaker 3 (04:02):
It's closed again because there's been military strikes that the
straight is closed. So if you think of going there
for your holiday, don't.

Speaker 7 (04:10):
I my two weeks abaticle I kept away from all media.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Which explains why you asked that question.

Speaker 7 (04:16):
Yeah, Renee is in COOLEROI hello, Renee.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Good?

Speaker 9 (04:19):
Ay, how are you good?

Speaker 3 (04:21):
The first question, Renee is about the World Cup? Have
you been paying attention?

Speaker 10 (04:26):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
You might be able to have some guest work with
this one. The question is there's four teams left in
the World Cup. We're down to the semis. Can you
name one of the four teams?

Speaker 9 (04:40):
England?

Speaker 3 (04:41):
That's what there's France, Spain, England and Argentina. I love
the English, say bring it home at once, and that
was about one hundred years ago.

Speaker 7 (04:49):
Who are you? I think I'm going for England.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
And I was disappointed that Norway got out. I loved them,
but they've gone.

Speaker 7 (04:54):
What about Australia?

Speaker 6 (04:56):
Yes, because we got done by the by Egypt, by the.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
By the Egypt.

Speaker 7 (05:02):
Well let's play the not so secret, said.

Speaker 3 (05:07):
Renee. What is this sound? Can we hear it again?
What do you think that is?

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (05:18):
God, I couldn't even take a guess at that.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
One more time? Okay, ah, sorry, Renee.

Speaker 7 (05:32):
Carol is in Craig Bird.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Hi Carol, Hello, I'm the wealth. Oh my lady, you
should be in Rhyme's play. Ryan's play is starting at
the end of this week, and it's full of my lady.
It's sort of a would you say Middle Ages romp?

Speaker 8 (05:46):
Yeah, it's it's medieval, but we don't say my lady.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Don't you What do you say?

Speaker 8 (05:50):
Well, you know, it's like his majesty and there's things
like that.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
And there are leeches if I remember correctly. See if
you can guess what this sound is?

Speaker 9 (06:00):
He sorry, okay, game please here it is.

Speaker 10 (06:08):
Dring old chip.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
No, sounds a little bit like that, but that's not
a packet of chips.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
Thanks Carol, Thanks for the words.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
You know, maybe you should take a leaf out of
his book BRender and use your words more wisely.

Speaker 7 (06:23):
What what do you say? Jazz for literally ten minutes?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
I know, I know, I know.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Take a peep behind the scenes. Follow Jonesy and Amanda
on Instagram and Facebook Jonesy and Demanda's.

Speaker 7 (06:43):
Far We're up into it the Fast five.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
I have to question number two. It's going to Peter
in Scores. Be Hi, Peter, good morning.

Speaker 12 (06:51):
I'll good afternoon.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Hello, you've come through for the not so secret Sound
all right, Peter. We've had no success so far. What
do you think this is?

Speaker 12 (07:05):
Sounds a bit like cracking your n ee.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Cracking an egg.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
The Great Wall of China is the longest man made
structure in the world, with an approximate length of what
is at A ten kilometers, B twenty kilometers or C
thirty kilometers.

Speaker 12 (07:24):
I would say, cee thirty kilometers.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
I was on it this time last week. Not on
the wall, just on it. No, I was.

Speaker 7 (07:31):
I was in China last week. Did you walk the
length of it?

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Not the whole length my son's. There are a number
of different entry points you can come in from. My
son's walked the really steep, longer, the furthest they could
go from our entry point, and they were being competitive
with each other. I did have to say, remember you
were on an eighth wonder of the world, look around
and soak it in.

Speaker 7 (07:53):
So you know.

Speaker 6 (07:53):
Yeah, Andrew is in the Essendon. Hello Andrea, Hi, what's
going on in your neck of the wards.

Speaker 9 (08:02):
I've just picked up my daughter from school.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Is she in the car with you? She is, Well,
let's see if she can help you. Here we've ruled
out Sea, which was thirty k's the Great Wall of China,
longest man made structure in the world. The approximate length
of is it ten ks or twenty k's?

Speaker 7 (08:22):
It is twenty ks? Wow? Yeah, how would to take
him to make?

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Well? Fat? Hundreds and hundreds of years and bits were
added on here and there. And I know what you're
going to say, is to keep the rabbits out.

Speaker 7 (08:32):
You gotta tell that to your daughter. Andrea, wasn't to
keep the school project was to keep out the hun.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yeah, and the Mongols. And the invasion was the hut
all the Mongols. All sides are invaded from all sides.
But when you see how steep that is and how
heavy those bricks were that they carried, quite incredible.

Speaker 7 (08:49):
Fee isn't there parts of it that are not completed.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Bits of it that have fallen and crumbled and being rebuilt?

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Yeah, Andrew, this is question number four for you. The
character mister Smell is a sidekick for which iconic villain.

Speaker 7 (09:05):
Mister who mister smee smee.

Speaker 9 (09:08):
Oh, mister mister you know this?

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Actually I don't you know this? Let me mister sorry, Andrea,
Tony's in Wollongong by Tony.

Speaker 13 (09:22):
Hi.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
If you're going to be a sidekick, you may as
well be mister Smee. Mister Smee is whose sidekick? Which
iconic villain does he hang out with?

Speaker 12 (09:30):
Captain?

Speaker 7 (09:32):
This is for you, Tony.

Speaker 6 (09:33):
If you get this right, you win the two hundred
and fifty dollars worth of fuel. Which of tennis four
Grand Slam tournaments recently wrapped up.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
Nick Sinner one Wimbledon. Just know the Layton Hewitt and
Beckwitt's son Cruz is in the final for Junior Wimbledon.

Speaker 7 (09:51):
Now what's Cruise?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
These about seventeen eighteen something like that, just.

Speaker 7 (09:54):
Like she had him the other day.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Yeah, goodness, amazing, isn't it?

Speaker 7 (09:57):
Tony? Congratulations you have won the jam pack.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
You've got two hundred and fifty dollars of fuel going
into your tank.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Thank you very much, Tony.

Speaker 7 (10:07):
Your will don't go nuts, Tony.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
That's great, Thank you for that.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
Carry on.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Lots of things come up on the show. I did
go to China, my face.

Speaker 7 (10:17):
Did you get us a gift? I did?

Speaker 3 (10:18):
By your present. My fake blonde hair has confused the
Chinese as to my age, so I got some.

Speaker 7 (10:26):
Bit like when Elton John went there. That's true.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
What happened with him?

Speaker 7 (10:31):
I'll tell you, Okay, I'll tell you what happened.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
I'll tell you what happened.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
Two weeks is a long time in this business, you
say two weeks off. A lot of stuff happened while
we're a one.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
We both still have jobs, so there's a lot that
we're grateful for.

Speaker 7 (10:44):
Well, what happened Carl he left?

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Was?

Speaker 9 (10:46):
He here?

Speaker 7 (10:47):
He was?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
He did one show too.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
I think, Brenda is that that's going to be the
shortest radio show in the history of the world.

Speaker 7 (10:53):
Surely, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
And I taught him all those vocal exercises, how to
say the radios, call sign, all that stuff. You know,
My talents don't come cheaply. And I feel bad for
Invoice Kim, because you know.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
It's been a very strange time. Lots of things have
happened while we've been away. I kept seeing this story.
It might be a bit manky, but this is what's
going on in the world. Another example of has the
complete social construct crumbled. Let's start by making it sound classy,
because the story isn't. One of my favorite artists is

(11:32):
a performer called Noah Khan, this is one of my
favorite songs, Stick season very much.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
It's the season of the Sticks. Do you know that
he's related to Chucker.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Brendon? Why do I bother trying to bring information Chuck A.
Khan as what you're trying to say For those that
don't get that joke, that's what that is. Can I
continue with my information? Please? So anyway, this Chucker does
actually come up here, he recently has. This is a
phenomenon that is happening at concerts, and Noah Khan has
called it out at his own concert. Remember a few

(12:10):
months ago, was it last year? People started throwing stuff
on stage and even at sporting events they were throwing
sex toys. Oh yeah, that was the stage on the
netbook court, onto basketball courts, onto stages with it.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
And the food fighters used to have mentoss thrown at
them for some reason I've forgotten why.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Well lately here's a thing now people, and I'm sorry
this is very graphic, but this is a thing.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
Well, can't you candicated?

Speaker 3 (12:37):
No, people are going number two on the stadium floor.
So people are going to see a show and going
number two.

Speaker 7 (12:45):
I'm presuming this is because of a facility.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
No to the extent where it's not oh, I'm taken
by surprise, it's not that number two. It's number two
and it's come out of your pants and there it
is on the floor, brit number twos. This has happened
in a number of different concerts in different kinds of ways,
but there's footage and it's horrendous circulating about people having

(13:08):
to clean it up, all this kind of stuff. Noah
Khan actually had to come out and say something. I'll
play what he said in a second. But he's also
gone to social media saying if you have to poop
at a show, go to a bathroom. He said, I've
put my pants as much as the next twenty nine
year old. But you've got to understand, as a venue
worker out there with a thousand yard stare. After dealing
with that, it's like all the human decency of the

(13:30):
world has disappeared. So this is hum at a concert
saying hey, guys, this is going on and you have
to stop it.

Speaker 7 (13:37):
It's an awkward and this is fresh and more wage
than one. You'll find out a second.

Speaker 8 (13:42):
When you went through this building, you went through a
social contract.

Speaker 7 (13:46):
Right and one of the big number.

Speaker 12 (13:49):
Rule number two besides don't literally kill each other is don't.

Speaker 8 (13:52):
Look for so.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
And he may even put their hands up and say
I will not do it.

Speaker 7 (13:57):
Don't so he made them put an ode.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
But Olivia Rodrigo has said that, and this is a
different scenario that when she's at the front of her
own concerts, she can smell number twos because people are
wearing pads up, yeah, and nappies and things because they
don't want to miss being at the front. But that's
two separate kind of situations going on. One is homoring
this because I don't want to miss out. Others are

(14:22):
deliberate doing it.

Speaker 7 (14:23):
I imagine going see the monkeys. I'll throw a back
at you.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
You've amused yourself, so that happened more wrong on holidays.
I'm just bringing you up to speed.

Speaker 6 (14:33):
M gold Hello there, it's Jones you Demanda driving you
home while we're on holidays. We lost some famous people.
We lost Bonnie Tyler, we lost Jaron Hinch.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
And we've just heard the news. And I'm so sorry
to be breaking this news for you if this is
what's hearing. But Sam Neil's one of our favorite favorites
that just.

Speaker 7 (14:52):
Happened moments ago.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
Sam was surrounded by a family's, a family and friends,
passed away with the dignity that characterized his whole life.
In a statement written there in sits the hospital. But
you know that's wow.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
I just I mean, this is what's interesting that it
says here the loss was sudden and unexpected, but blessed
by the fact that Sam remained cancer free. So he
had cancer, so they've said they were at least further
details later on. But what a hard time for his family,
for everyone in New Zealand and Australia in the world

(15:26):
that just loved him, And what a gorgeous man met
him a number of times. Gracious, funny, cheeky, dry, all
the same qualities that characterized the wine that he made
a signed bottle of time. He's just lovely.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
We got him for some reason.

Speaker 6 (15:42):
We got people to do the Sherbet Jigsaw puzzle that
you got for some reason, or the band Sherbet Naked.
Strategically we've placed legs and limbs and things, and.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Every celebrity that came into our office we asked him
to help with the Jukesaw puzzle.

Speaker 6 (15:58):
He went at it with that diligent I said, Sam,
you don't have to finish it.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
It's okay.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
He was just the nicest man. I'm just devastated to
hear that. Condolences to Sam's family, yes, and to everyone
who just loved him. Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Demanda podcast now by
the Miracle of recordings, and.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Amanda and Amanda are two great names.

Speaker 7 (16:27):
I'm not a scatter. That's the chemistry between them.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
But how much religned your own business and shut your pile.

Speaker 11 (16:33):
I wish you were with your Joe.

Speaker 7 (16:35):
I was walking past my fish pond and all my
fish are gone. I don't know where they're gone. Again,
they weren't floating around.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
I looked, had a good look, and there's two stages
to my pond.

Speaker 7 (16:48):
And in the top pond they went there. In the
bottom pond, the maybe got a lot of foliage.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Could they be hind.

Speaker 7 (16:53):
There's a lot of That's that stuff. The Egyptians love papyrus.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Pyrus virus want to make paper out of papyrus, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
The Egyptians. It's all on the Nile.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
I didn't think it was underwater.

Speaker 7 (17:05):
Yeah, it grows out of the water.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
I'm sure it was going out of the water under the.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
It goes under the water and out of the water.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Did you move it aside? You found Moses be both fish.

Speaker 6 (17:15):
I didn't want to I do want to go through
the papyrus or papyrye in case you know. I didn't
want to uncover any any I didn't want to see
any of that disrupt the school. One of the girls,
he said, why don't you put some notes up on
telephone poles about missing goldfish?

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Which is so, what are you saying?

Speaker 7 (17:36):
Well, I don't know. If do you know what happens
to fish in winter time? Do they go and hide
a little bit?

Speaker 13 (17:40):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (17:40):
Maybe, yeah, I suddenly disappear.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Well that you do this a lot to fish, But
that's called killing them. That that is not There was
a period of time there.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
Where we had some bad luck to run of bad luck.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
But if you know anything about fish, do they go
and hibernate?

Speaker 7 (18:02):
Do they you know?

Speaker 6 (18:04):
Because they bred in there? Because those fish, Because there's
two worlds of fish. There's top tank and bottom tank,
and those two worlds don't tolet they don't know each other.

Speaker 7 (18:15):
One exists.

Speaker 6 (18:16):
And in the top tank there's a massive fish who
I call mister Bee.

Speaker 3 (18:20):
Is he still there?

Speaker 6 (18:21):
No, I couldn't find him, and he's been around for
ages And I thought, imagine if I put him in
the bottom tank and he saw all.

Speaker 7 (18:26):
The little fish, he'd be like king of the world.
He could lord it over them.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
Yeah, you know, why don't you actually just google it
and see?

Speaker 5 (18:35):
Do Ryan?

Speaker 3 (18:36):
If you googled it?

Speaker 8 (18:38):
I sort of, Well, they don't hibernate.

Speaker 7 (18:40):
No where do they go?

Speaker 5 (18:41):
I said, Oh, if your fishing, what happens if you're
fish are missing? It says your fish are likely hiding,
jumped out of the tank or got sucked into the filter.

Speaker 3 (18:49):
Could that have happened?

Speaker 7 (18:50):
What can I go with the hiding option?

Speaker 11 (18:52):
Plan?

Speaker 3 (18:53):
Hiding is your best options?

Speaker 6 (18:55):
Well, they hadn't jumped down, and the field's too small
for them to be sucked in.

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Well, let's say they're hiding a bit of yours. I
would too.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
This is not a Disney franchise, is it. I can't
see anything of this date. That weather was so hard
for him. The features editor at the Daily Oz, Emma
gilespie or merg As I like to call it energy.

(19:26):
That's got a nice ring to it. Why haven't I
thought about this before him?

Speaker 7 (19:31):
Well?

Speaker 14 (19:31):
My nine year old self thought about it when I
was convinced I was going to be a fashion designer.
Brand was going to be called Energy, But we didn't
go ahead with it on account of the fact that
I couldn't sketch, had no ideas, had no business acumen
and fell apart.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
When does that stop anyone, Emma, But you had a
great name, right, That's all I knew.

Speaker 14 (19:49):
Well, I wouldn't be talking to you fabulous people about
the world of entertainment every week if I had gone ahead.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
With that one. That's very true. And what have you
got for us today?

Speaker 14 (19:58):
Well, I've got some Prince Harry reinformation to chat through.
It hasn't been the poor homecoming that he would have
hoped for. There was this big court case that's fallen through.
But I guess the first thing to discuss is that
King Charles has officially hosted Harry. He's met with the
family for the first time in years. Harry, Meghan, the
two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet met with the

(20:21):
King and Queen at High Grove House, which is a
country estate west of London. Buckingham Palace has confirmed the meeting.
There has been all this speculation over whether or not
it was going to go ahead. It has gone ahead,
but Harry's in the UK for all these charity events.
They were overshadowed, first by that speculation of whether the
meeting was going to go ahead, but secondly because he

(20:41):
lost this major court battle against The Daily Mail or
against The Daily Mail's publisher associated newspapers. This one was
years in the making. Harry was actually one of seven
high profile claimants, including Elton John Liz Hurley. You probably
heard about this one. They were all taking the publisher
to court, accusing it of decades of illegal news gathering.

(21:05):
So the allegations centered around phone hacking, tricking people into
handing over medical records, travel records, allegations of kind of
unfair sourcing of witnesses and manipulation and private investigators, all
stretching back from nineteen ninety three to twenty eighteen.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
And Harry has always said my social circle is water tight,
that the only way you could have got information is
by illegal means.

Speaker 14 (21:32):
Yes, and The Daily Mail's defense had always been this
is an information we've goten illegally. We have willing sources
who have come forward, and people in your circles Elton
John and Prince Harry, who have happily given us the
goss and dirt on you. Ultimately, a High Court judge
ruled against Prince Harry. They threw out every single claim.

(21:53):
It's not that they said definitively that the Daily Mail
didn't do anything wrong. It's that they simply can't prove
that the newspaper unlawfully sourced its stories. It's just basically
their word against the publisher. There were eleven weeks of trials,
more than fifty pounds in legal costs. It was a
huge hearing and a huge trial and an equally huge loss,

(22:16):
and that ultimately has kind of really overshadowed these talks
of reconciliation with Charles, who is of course being treated
for an undisclosed form of cancer. Harry and Charles did
meet briefly in September for a cuppa, and so then
they kind of obviously touched things up enough for the
meeting to happen again over the weekend with the rest
of the family. But you can imagine the British press

(22:39):
is having enough field day with this.

Speaker 6 (22:41):
Well, it would be a nice little patch out, wouldn't that.
You know, Dad, I'm here, here's a cup of tea.
How about a spare fifty million dollars.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
But also the press are going to go hard because
they feel they've been just besmirched through this court case.

Speaker 14 (22:53):
Yes, and they've said The Daily Mail has said this
is a win for freedom of the press. I think,
you know, everyone has their own opinions about a publisher
like the Daily Mail. They have historically not always gone
about things in the right way, and this, I suppose
feels like for them a moment to be very smug
about their practices. And they've said, you know, we always
said Harry's friends with the leaks and he has a

(23:15):
leaky circle and we just can't through.

Speaker 7 (23:19):
Do you have a thing? Does it? Amanda? Do you
have a leaky circle?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Look, I'm working on it with my pelvic floor exercises.

Speaker 14 (23:26):
They say one in two women a leak.

Speaker 6 (23:28):
You know, maybe we put this to the MG people. Maybe, Emma,
thank you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (23:35):
Okay, your download is complete.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Jones and Amanda cant shut up on the Jonesy and
Amanda podcast Download the free iHeart app Oh.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Still feeling very emotional. We heard the news that Sam
Neil has passed away. It's hard to imagine a world
that doesn't have Sam Neil in it doesn't it.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
It's always a great guest, always really good.

Speaker 6 (23:54):
And when him and Brian Brown came in, you just
let those two talk and entertainment.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
We oh, they're great. And I'm a sad day, a
very sad day, and I'm feeling emotional. I went to
see my dad in Brisbane over the holidays. He was
hospitalized and he's ninety two.

Speaker 6 (24:09):
That would have been hard for you because you were
in China and they were contacting you.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Yeah, and Harley wasn't great and then my dad wasn't great,
and you know, it was just hard. So anyway, I
went up to Brisbane when I came home to see dad,
and there was so many of my amazing family memories.
I was born in Brisbane and we left there when
I was about six or seven, and we moved to
Perth for a few years and then really settled in Sydney.

Speaker 7 (24:34):
You went on the run, were you? It sounds like it.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
Burned on the run, But so much of my childhood.
Every time we'd come up to visit my grandparents, they
live in a house. They lived in a house that's
not now, not far now, where my brother lives. Every
time I go to visit my brother, I make him
drive us past the house my grandparents lived in. So
many of my favorite childhood memories are from my grandparents' house.
And Cameron arranged he met someone who's lives he's the

(25:02):
son of the family that bought that house from my
grandparents thirty years ago. It's they're still living in the
house and Cameron, is a surprise to me, arranged for
us to go through the house. So we drove past
as we always do, and then Cameron pulled up and said,
what are you doing. He said, we're going to go
in and has had this rush of this nostalgic kick

(25:22):
to the heart.

Speaker 7 (25:23):
Has it changed, Well, you know, that house was there.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
They were in that house for twenty years and that
was thirty years ago. Yep, we'll probably though there longer
than that. But the front of it, it's like a
tiny Queenslander house. And I remember it always being much
bigger when I was a kid, but it's tiny at
the front, and miraculously they've left the front of it
almost as is, and out the back they've put a
new kitchen and things, and they've often over the years

(25:49):
thought of knocking it down or doing bits, but she
said she just felt that there was a beautiful spirit
in that house.

Speaker 6 (25:55):
Have they set it up like I says, shrine to you.
It's Paul McCartney's house. Acda's house got knocked down.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
But it was a thing where you know, that was when.

Speaker 6 (26:04):
We could make a little museum, but we could get
some stuff, pictures of you put it all around the house.
I watched the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary in the break and
they've got a house set up over in Austria and
it's where he grew up, and it's got his little
workout bed, workout bed.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
Well, I'm sure the people who for me to do.

Speaker 7 (26:26):
It, and there's all pictures of bodybuilders on the walls.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
I'm pushing through and telling this story, okay, because I'm emotional.

Speaker 7 (26:33):
About it, of course, of course.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
And I saw when my grandpa used to do his
home brew, and then my grandma used to make these
incredible roasts, and it was just the most lovely thing.
To be able to sit with the family and tell
the story of the family who'd lived there before. It
was lovely. And I've told you this story before when
we were in London on a beyond two thousand trip.
And Harley was a Kiwi but had grown up in England.

(26:55):
And he went back to the house that he had
grown up in England, and very unlike him, he knocked
on the door and said And they opened their and said,
are you Harley. They remembered him when he was a
seventeen year old boy. And the woman said, I've got something,
And they went into the kitchen and she had a
jar of the marbles she had found in the garden

(27:18):
thirty years before, twenty years before, and she'd kept them
in Casey came back, really, which always gave us the story.
And I hardly lost his marbles and found them again.
But imagine that, you know, going back to these old places,
maybe everything's changed, maybe nothing's changed.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
Well, I've renovated a lot of houses and you pull
out a walk cavity and you find stuff in the
wall cavity.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Yeah, and sometimes it wouldn't be good to go back
because the memory you have of what, the memory of
the nostalgia, the kick of nostalgia just can't exist all
the time because things have changed.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
But you've got a box collection of knave or something
like that.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
In the walk they keep yours? Brendan where to hide them?

Speaker 6 (28:01):
If I went to my old house and the ladies
and I've got something, you might say, oh well there'd
be my brother's, not mine.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
What are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Has this happened to you? Have you gone back? Or
have you had a knock at the door and someone
who used to live there has said, can I come
and have a look? Tales of going on drama.

Speaker 7 (28:21):
Beat for this?

Speaker 3 (28:23):
Oh, no, shaky step? He is that shaky? Should he
be on the roof?

Speaker 6 (28:30):
He says he's got no time to fix the shingles,
but he's on the roof anyway.

Speaker 3 (28:34):
And fix the roof to it. Well, give us a call.
Tales of Going Back Home Cheration Gold.

Speaker 7 (28:40):
Hello there, it's Jonesy demand of driving you home.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
Amanda went on a holiday to Brisbane and her brother
has said, I'm going to show you through the old
maternal grandparent home.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Or it was the paternal grandparent home. It was my
dad's parents. Actually, once we'd moved to Sydney, and once
Dad was doing some work in Brisbane, dropped into seas
and you.

Speaker 7 (29:00):
Went Brisbane, Perth, Sydney.

Speaker 6 (29:02):
Yes, so is this I'm getting a paper moon vive
was your dad was art and I met Art.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
He's not on the run was for financial se and.

Speaker 6 (29:10):
You are the biggest patsy in the world, like you
would easily sit there holding the bag of cash while
he ran off.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
But Dad once went to visit his parents and his
mom said, oh, your dad's at the pub. So Dad
walked up to the pub on the corner and as
he arrived, my grandfather had just been hit by Karen
has been put in the back of an ambulance, right,
And they just said greeted each other like it was
an everyday occurrence. So I had a drink in that
tub on the weekend.

Speaker 6 (29:36):
Once again, I'm just saying, do you know Cameron possibly
setting up some sort of tribute place to you. It
works Paul McCartney for example, other places in excess their house,
they so your house.

Speaker 3 (29:49):
My grandparents house, but there's a family that lives there.

Speaker 7 (29:51):
Were they were they buzz that you walked in there?
Was it a big deal?

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Well, they were very nice.

Speaker 7 (29:56):
They knew who you were.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Well, the mom said to her said, oh, hello, it's
you and said to her son, who's nineteen or twenty,
do you know who this is? And he said no,
and she said looked at me and said, well, you'd
better tell you. Oh, that's the.

Speaker 7 (30:09):
Worst, and you would have done the best presentation.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
I had a PowerPoint present But it was so nice
to go back. And I don't know if it's always
nice for people to go back, But I don't know
if you've received a knock at the door, people wanting
to go through your home who used to live there.
But it was It was such a kick in the
heart to see the table or the room where Grandma
would always leave a packet of chips. We'd run and
there'd be a packet of chips and she'd make this

(30:34):
incredible roast dinner and Grandpa would be listening to the
races on his little transistor. It was amazing to revisit.

Speaker 6 (30:40):
Two of the last houses that I've bought. People have
always said to me, I had a party at your house.
I went to a party at your house. It was
never when I was there.

Speaker 3 (30:49):
It was always and two different houses.

Speaker 7 (30:51):
At two different houses, and they go great lengths to
say how great it was.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
What does that mean that you have part of me?

Speaker 7 (30:58):
He thinks, I'm glad I didn't have to clean that up.
Second bar goes, well, what don't I.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
What if on Saturday night people don't come around saying
we heard there's a party.

Speaker 6 (31:05):
Well I don't want that. But what I'm saying is that,
do you hear what I'm saying? The tribal drama speeding
for this?

Speaker 3 (31:12):
You've taken any vibe out of the house. So what
she's saying, you know, look at me, I'm a fun
factory Tales of Going Back Home.

Speaker 7 (31:21):
Donna has joined us.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Hello, Donna, tell us what house did you go back to?

Speaker 11 (31:29):
We were My sister and I just happened to be
in the area where we grew up. So we said,
let's go have a lot, you know, take some.

Speaker 10 (31:35):
Photos of our old house.

Speaker 11 (31:36):
And so we're standing at the front taking all.

Speaker 10 (31:39):
These photos, like a couple of.

Speaker 11 (31:41):
Videos, and the ladies look was looking out of their window,
and then all of a sudden, she's come outside and
she didn't understand English very well. We're trying to explain,
you know, our parents built this house, this is this
was our house. Then her son came out to see
what was going on. So explained to him and he
obviously understood, and then he said, oh, would you like

(32:02):
to come inside? And have a look.

Speaker 10 (32:04):
So we walked there.

Speaker 11 (32:05):
We were stoked because we lived in that house for
nearly twenty five years and everything was pretty much the same.
All they'd done was renovate the kitchen a little bit.
All the shape was the same. My dad was a
bit of a.

Speaker 15 (32:23):
Builder, I suppose you could say.

Speaker 11 (32:24):
He liked he liked to make things.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
So he built the brick barbecue out the back that's
still standing there. From everything, we were the kids that
had the best cubby house in the street.

Speaker 11 (32:38):
Mum and dad bought one of those offices when they
were selling all the blocks. This cubby house of ours
that we called it was actually their office and Mum
and dad bought it for us as a covey house,
so they had proper glass windows. That's still standing.

Speaker 3 (32:53):
And how many years it have been since you'd lived there?

Speaker 11 (32:56):
So we left there probably warm sixteen, so like forty
years or something.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah, wow, So after all that time that stuff was
still there.

Speaker 7 (33:09):
That's amazing. That's so cool, Donner.

Speaker 6 (33:11):
That is so great, you know, especially if it is
your dad still with us, Donner, and you see the
barbecue that he made and in one of those old
school barbecues.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
That house, you lived in Brendan and you made a
slippery slide that you take us Cabby house it was.
It was made for mountain boats. It was so steep
and rough metal edges.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
Because my daughter wanted a tree house, so I made
a tree house. And it wasn't one of those little
piddly ones on the bottom. It was up the top
the tree.

Speaker 7 (33:40):
It was like Swiss family. Robinson Council must have been
a bit nuts on it. And it was very.

Speaker 3 (33:46):
Cares shall we say, I saw it, I saw it.

Speaker 7 (33:49):
I was. I was very happy about take oxygen up
with it up.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Speed dot.

Speaker 7 (33:59):
I have nothing to do with that.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
That was still there Brendan.

Speaker 7 (34:03):
Matt has joined up.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Hello Matt, what house did you go back?

Speaker 1 (34:06):
To?

Speaker 15 (34:06):
Guys Well, Perhaps the more cautionary tale. My forebears moved
from some bog outside Glasgow to southern Tasmania in eighteenth
In eighteen thirty and one of my brothers set about
on a sort of a pilgrimage to track down the
ancestral home. It was a sort of multi year project
and thought he'd identified the house and on a trip

(34:27):
to Europe, and with great expectation from the rest of
the family, traveled to this place outside Glasgow, approached the house,
knocked on the door, very excited about you know, two
hundred years after we've lived here, at which point he
was immediately attacked by the household dog and put in hospital.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
Well an emotional time around, Matt.

Speaker 6 (34:54):
It is thank you, jam The tribal drama's meeting is
something that you have your brother did for you, which
is very very nice.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
I was so nice. He met the person who was
living next door to where my grandparents had lived for
many years and was some of my favorite childhood memories.
And the woman who lives there now was so lovely
that she's a nurse, but they also own the Irish
pub down at the corner, so she got her son
to go down and buy some champagne. So we sat
having a glass of champagne or two in my grandparents

(35:22):
old house. It was such a treat.

Speaker 6 (35:24):
Was there a velvet rope around and placards and little.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
You know, this is where Amanda opened to a tiery
deary doll on a Christmas.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
Tree asking for admission. I know your brother very well.
He once convinced me that you were five years older.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Older than I.

Speaker 6 (35:43):
I first met him because well a mana being the older. Really, yes,
she's five years older.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
But when we pulled up at the front, I said
to Cameron, what are you doing? He said, we're going in.
I just had this rush of and that's how it feeled,
a rush of memory. And when you know, as I said,
I was emotional because my dad hadn't been well. I
was up visiting and I always cry when I say
goodbye to him because he's ninety two. I just don't
know when I'll see him again. And my grandpa used
to stand at the front of this house and waivers.

(36:10):
We drove around the corner and even as a kid,
I'd say, don't go anywhere till I'd come back, and
he said, I can't promise you that. And I think
of that every time I say goodbye to my dad. Now.
Oh so it was a wonderful afternoon. I'm very grateful.

Speaker 7 (36:23):
We can do it.

Speaker 6 (36:24):
The tribal drum is beating tales of going back home
that happy shag and stevens.

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Che I don't want to go back to that. We
just heard a hilarious story of a man who they
went back to their family home in Scotland after two
hundred years to be attacked by a dog and put
in hospital.

Speaker 7 (36:42):
Well that's what I was when you got in Glasgow.
See you just a drunk dog. Robin has joined as
Hello Robin Alo Robin.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
What house did you go back to?

Speaker 9 (36:54):
Hi, Jonty and Amanda. Actually my story is in the reverse.
I came home to find too love the ugly ladies
at my front gate, and they went on to explain
that one of them, Jesse, had been She was six
months old when that particular house was finished. Her father
built it, and she'd been telling her friend about all

(37:18):
these amazing features in the house, and I said, well,
come in and have a look and see if it's
still rare and bless her. They got to the laundro
and she said, there you go, Susie, the tunnel groove.
You know how we talked about the tongue and groups,
which was just gorgeous. I just thought, I'm so glad
I let them come in.

Speaker 3 (37:37):
Over the years they've been reminiscing about the house.

Speaker 9 (37:40):
Obviously, Oh absolutely, So it was a really lovely moment.
And then I said to Jesse, what did you do
when you lived in Horsemen? And she said, oh, what
didn't work? Tell okay, the piano.

Speaker 8 (37:51):
That's the church.

Speaker 9 (37:52):
Down on the corner. Wow, so gorgeous. And then she
said she moved to Melbourne and I said, oh, look,
what's your surnamecause I always loved Jesse for a girl.
But I went on, had three boys, But that's okay,
she said, on my first name's Davies, and I said,
so is mine, which was just amazing.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
I'm glad you could do something lovely for them, Robin.
That's very sweet of you.

Speaker 7 (38:14):
Tongue and groove, it's very you know what tongue groove?

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Yes, I do, do you Well, it's where there's no joinery.
It sort of just folds in. Is that right?

Speaker 7 (38:24):
Pretty much?

Speaker 3 (38:24):
Yeah? What a shock to you, Brendan that I got
that right?

Speaker 7 (38:27):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
David, Hello, Dave, who went back?

Speaker 12 (38:29):
Where how are you guys?

Speaker 3 (38:32):
Very well, thank you.

Speaker 12 (38:33):
I went back to the granddad's house. They used to
live on the edge of like Kareingai National Park kind
of frenchis forest. And yeah, they had a like a
little fireberry place, you know, no running water. Granddad built
it with his own hands. Had a toilet, you know,
he had to go out of the house out of

(38:53):
a toilet, big hole it's just reaped. But I go
back to look at it and it's gone.

Speaker 13 (39:00):
Mate.

Speaker 12 (39:01):
Dick Smith, the owner of Dick Smith that bought it
from my grandparents the property and he totaled it. He
knocked it down. He put his big mansion up. And
where I used to run out of the middle of
the night to go take a pee and scared of
getting bitten by snakes and whatnot. There was a hell.

Speaker 7 (39:21):
That's the problem with the memorial on the helipads.

Speaker 12 (39:25):
There's an eight foot high fence and kangaroos were jumping
around inside his property, not outside.

Speaker 13 (39:32):
Wow.

Speaker 7 (39:34):
You know I had progrudged Dick for putting toilets in.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Elite so elite.

Speaker 7 (39:42):
The woke society was.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
Thank you for I've loved it.

Speaker 7 (39:50):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Demanda podcast. Yeah, it's
in a request for them to do it again.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Crack mentioned lay off the moonshine.

Speaker 15 (40:03):
He's always knocking a man.

Speaker 7 (40:04):
It's so weak. Sam Neill has passed away. He was
seventy eight.

Speaker 6 (40:12):
He had had cancer, but as I understand, was clear
as that it was a sudden passing. Well for us
at any rate, and we're still quite shocked.

Speaker 3 (40:22):
Because reeling from the news and on a day when
we farewell Professor Scolia.

Speaker 7 (40:25):
Yeah, which that's gam.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
It's a hard hard time.

Speaker 7 (40:30):
He was a great guest on this show.

Speaker 6 (40:31):
I always love when he come in because you'd always
bring great entertainment. He knew the show, which is always
helpful when you have guests on the show. He got
into a dope stunts, like that time you got him
to build or construct the Sherbert jigsaw.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
We came in for some reason. I was given a
jigsaw of an album cover of the Sherbert Boys in
the nude pretty much went they remember, and I just
had a lot of hair, a lot of soap bubbles,
and it was a magazine photo that was a legendary
and I had I was given a huge jigsaw of it.

(41:07):
And so every guest that came in did a little
bit of the jigsaw and Sam enjoyed it.

Speaker 7 (41:11):
And I remember Sam saying, why would they all take
a bath together? There's so many of them, that's so
weird that what about when he'd come in with Brian Brown.
He's good mate.

Speaker 6 (41:22):
And condolences to you Brian as well, because I know
that you were very good.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
Friends promoting the movie Palm Beaf.

Speaker 7 (41:29):
And what just it's just a treat of a chat.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
In this film. He actually come to fisty cuffs. Is
that the first time you've punched each other?

Speaker 7 (41:37):
I think so.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
I often wanted to pass, but I'm from New Zealand.
I'm civilized and i know restraints.

Speaker 7 (41:47):
Yeah, but you love Brian because you're on your vinyard.
You've got a rooster called Brian Brown.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Yeah, it's complete preck.

Speaker 3 (41:58):
And there are a lot of chicks running around now
thanks to Brian.

Speaker 7 (42:01):
Brian's pretty prolific on that farm.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
I also had one called Hugo Weaving, who actually died
on the job.

Speaker 3 (42:10):
Sam had such a droll sense of humid.

Speaker 7 (42:13):
We're going to miss you very much, mate.

Speaker 6 (42:16):
We are back from break two weeks off. I'm waiting
for my present from China.

Speaker 3 (42:21):
I've got it here for you. And tell me when.

Speaker 7 (42:23):
Jem I right? Is he a present?

Speaker 3 (42:24):
He does?

Speaker 7 (42:25):
Is his present bigger than my present?

Speaker 3 (42:27):
Let's not go into that. I'll give you your present
before the end of the show.

Speaker 6 (42:30):
On a cost basis, which would be more expensive.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
Nothing. No, we'll talk about that because I will talk
about the wedding that happened while we're holidays.

Speaker 6 (42:44):
Travis Kelsey and Taylor Swift got married at the Madison
Square Gardens Or was the MC MSG.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
Were you the MC.

Speaker 7 (42:53):
Sweet gig, I've done it before.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
The wedding wedding were there are a thousand guests and
two billionaires carrying each other?

Speaker 7 (43:00):
Do that of just read the telegrams out.

Speaker 3 (43:02):
You and otill fabula. Yeah, it's interesting and the reason
I think it's interesting to talk about, and we wouldn't
mind your opinion on this. I love the idea of
Taylor Swift. I'm not a massive swifty. I think she's
wonderful and very generous, all those fabulous things. And I
bought into the dream of how wonderful when they got engaged.
Remember she said, your English teacher and your gym teacher
are getting married. They're humble, sweet, modest yep. A lot

(43:27):
of people are surprised at the wedding was anything but that?
And fair enough, she's dreamt of this day for many,
many years. But there did seem to be this kind
of elitist quality to it that has given some people
the ick. So what happened was they shut down a
big number of streets in New York on the fourth

(43:47):
of July holiday weekend. I know she didn't donated over
twenty five million dollars to the city and to various
charities and various things wonderful. That's how much their wedding
also cost. But to have all those incredible people, there
are a thousand of them, people who sort of joked
that they didn't know her very well, a thousand of them.
And one of the things they had was like a

(44:09):
raffle where you could win a Chevrolet, you could win
Cartier watches, you could win Chanelle handbags. Valued it over
six and a half thousand dollars. That to me just
seems really unusual from Taylor Swift.

Speaker 7 (44:20):
I like her even more for this, to give.

Speaker 3 (44:23):
The most privileged people in the world expensive.

Speaker 7 (44:25):
Gifts, what privileged people should get stuff.

Speaker 3 (44:28):
Well, this is what's interesting. It's an insight into her
dream day. A lot of people said when we heard
it was going to when we heard it was going
to be at Madison Square Gardens, a.

Speaker 7 (44:38):
Lot I was shocked by that. I must ad been.

Speaker 3 (44:40):
I thought have been married, they're going to do something
sweet and small and coming here.

Speaker 6 (44:44):
For a party, or maybe she wanted a big shindy
t hear the reasons why Madison Square gardens make sense.
It's enclosed roof, it's got underground car parking, so all
the celebs can just zip on in and go straight
up into.

Speaker 7 (44:58):
The area it's got.

Speaker 6 (45:00):
There's no place for helicopters or spies or anything like that.
You know, all those weddings that you see people go
to and they've got umbrellas and all that sort of stuff.

Speaker 7 (45:08):
What if you want a.

Speaker 3 (45:09):
Big wedding a thousand people. It seemed a disparate number
of people who, as I said, some of them who
were there saying, I don't know her that well. But
it gave people.

Speaker 7 (45:19):
An insight who said that.

Speaker 3 (45:21):
Some of the people who were there.

Speaker 7 (45:22):
What they said, I don't know her that well well.

Speaker 3 (45:25):
Sources close to the palace say, but this is just
for people who humble, sweet kind, very image conscious. This
is the thing. Not a single thing happens with her
being across her own that image. Are you joking? Every
single thing she ever does is with intent, is with
with a lot of forethought. So all of this has

(45:47):
been thought.

Speaker 7 (45:48):
The last privacy she wanted a bit of privacy, had a.

Speaker 6 (45:50):
Thousand guests, and she can afford it, of course, quite frankly,
she can afford it.

Speaker 3 (45:54):
A lot of people weren't happy with the shutdown streets.

Speaker 7 (45:57):
Well naturally, but then New Yorkers I'm going to be
happy with they're.

Speaker 3 (46:01):
Looking there that day. Well, some people have said, and
this isn't me saying this, and I'm not sure how
I feel about this. Some people have said they love Taylor,
but it's given them a bit of the on. It's like,
I see you, you're that person. After all, you're an
elitist kind of a person.

Speaker 6 (46:16):
After all, My love for Taylor Swift is such. I
can't put this to the pub.

Speaker 7 (46:19):
Test Well, I'll say the words no, Well, I think
it sounds like a whippole. Right, I can put it
to the whip pole, because.

Speaker 6 (46:26):
That's an intent snapshot on what the community things about
any given subject.

Speaker 7 (46:30):
About the aggression of the pub.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
Taylor Swift's nuptials wonderful? Great? Or does it give you theyck?

Speaker 7 (46:39):
I think it's great for her and great for young
Travis thirteen.

Speaker 3 (46:43):
Have won that Chevrolet.

Speaker 7 (46:45):
That'd be great, Maye. If you're too trolling and you couldn't.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
Drive it, well, she said that the reason she got
the Chevrolet was because it was sentimental. It wasn't the
actual car that they used to drive around in on
their first date. But it's the same model as the
one they is to drive around in. So none of
their DNA is in there. Hair fopiclesis.

Speaker 7 (47:06):
We're in the midst of the whip pole.

Speaker 6 (47:08):
This is an instant snapshot of what the community thinks
about any given subject.

Speaker 7 (47:13):
Anything you say about Taylor Swift, you can say right
to me.

Speaker 3 (47:15):
I've noticed there's been a bit of a division in
how people have responded, how fans have responded to Taylor's wedding.
This modest, wonderful, charitable, fabulous human has thrown an enormous shindig.

Speaker 6 (47:27):
As you would say, Yeah, she's given away cars, she's
given away prizes inside.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
Yeah that's great to the wealthiest, most privileged.

Speaker 7 (47:34):
People in Johnny doing it tough in there.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
Maybe I had to rent a tucks for the day.

Speaker 7 (47:41):
It could be a couple of people like that. I
just find that. I think it's nice. I think it's
a lot of people you're saying.

Speaker 3 (47:48):
Some people are saying there's an element of elitist elitism,
of consumption, of shutting down streets on a fourth of
July weekend. We're inconvenient for people. People love Taylor, but
were surprised that this has gone a bit ick a.

Speaker 7 (48:04):
Young person's perspective, gem I rye.

Speaker 5 (48:06):
Look to me, it feels a little bit ick because
it's which is very showy elfie.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
And she's very image conscious, so she's deliberately.

Speaker 6 (48:14):
Shown pullying Taylor. Marianne has joined US thirteen fifty five,
twenty two. If you'd like to join us as well.

Speaker 7 (48:20):
What do you think, Marianne?

Speaker 10 (48:23):
I think it's fabulous, fair enough, that's how Yeah, that's
that's how they She sells our stadiums and he you know,
and he played football, so and they get the privacy
there at the stadium. So I think it's sedulous.

Speaker 6 (48:37):
And the facilities would be great about toilet facilities.

Speaker 7 (48:40):
Hot dogs she'll be able to get.

Speaker 3 (48:42):
There was a big buffet and apparently you'll enjoy this bit, friendo.
Of course there were They all played games, games like
oh where are we hungry hippos? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (48:55):
Pretty much what board games?

Speaker 3 (48:56):
No, like you know, yeah, okay of game A Yeah
I know?

Speaker 7 (49:03):
And thank you. John has joined us. Johnny wonderful.

Speaker 15 (49:08):
I love it.

Speaker 12 (49:11):
I lived in the US work and a lot of
black tie evans.

Speaker 15 (49:13):
The American Royalty deserve to.

Speaker 12 (49:16):
Flash it all out. That's that's what makes the world
go round with art in the US.

Speaker 13 (49:20):
Love it?

Speaker 7 (49:21):
OK, thank you.

Speaker 3 (49:22):
These are the games, the games that were playing. They
got their raffle tickets by playing party games during the
reception like ski ball, mini golf and a football themed
ring toss.

Speaker 7 (49:32):
Well, he plays the football. D you think I don't
know that Rachel has joined us?

Speaker 3 (49:36):
Hello Rachel? What do you think? Wonderful?

Speaker 4 (49:40):
Yeah, definitely an egg.

Speaker 11 (49:42):
I think it's all very well thought out for publicity
because I think they're going to make a movie out
of it.

Speaker 6 (49:48):
A moving heard that this is getting making hay while
the sun shine. It's like how your brother who is
renting out that house as your museum?

Speaker 3 (49:58):
Sure, but I did hear that. You know, Taylor wants
to have a baby to take some time off put
out a movie.

Speaker 7 (50:04):
So she's well for a baby. It's going to happen
because the biological clock will be ticking away.

Speaker 3 (50:09):
I'm much why you don't make a wedding speech.

Speaker 7 (50:12):
Brendan Shell has joined us? Hell?

Speaker 3 (50:15):
Is it grand or is it Dick?

Speaker 13 (50:17):
No, there's no ick. I'm not a Taylor Swift fan.
I'm definitely not a Swifty but I think that she
did it really really smart. And I think that if
they can play games, like where else could they go
and play games and have privacy? And I think she
does it really really smart. And to give like twenty
five million just to have a few roads blocked off,
I mean, most of our roads have potholes anyway, and

(50:40):
we're waiting a few years to get them fixed, so
I'm pretty sure they could have They've been all right.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
That's a good perspective. Thank you.

Speaker 7 (50:46):
That is very good. Wrapped up with Dwayne.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
All right, Dwayne grand and wonderful or.

Speaker 11 (50:51):
Ick oh, look grand wonderful.

Speaker 15 (50:54):
I mean, who doesn't.

Speaker 10 (50:55):
Love parts of partil and pin the towel on Kanye West.

Speaker 3 (51:02):
Oh, thank you, Twaine.

Speaker 7 (51:04):

questions right, one thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (51:28):

you'd like to make it two thousand dollars, you have
six seconds to answer a bonus question, but it's double
or nothing.

Speaker 7 (51:35):

Speaker 15 (53:19):

Speaker 13 (53:20):
Let's get that.

Speaker 7 (53:21):
Do you know? It's Susan? Probably it's the euro Susan.

Speaker 3 (53:29):
Wow. You it was like pulling teeth at the beginning,
and when needed, a big.

Speaker 7 (53:32):
Runny more seconds you would have made last.

Speaker 3 (53:34):
Susan, I can't believe that.

Speaker 10 (53:37):
I was trying to get on and.

Speaker 1 (53:38):
That's just so stupid of me.

Speaker 3 (53:40):
You got all the hard ones right? Oh no, oh.

Speaker 7 (53:44):
Susan, Susan, I'm sorry. At least we're back.

Speaker 3 (53:47):
You can celebrated that way or just.

Speaker 6 (53:50):
We're back and a man who is going to give
me a present that she brought back from China.

Speaker 3 (53:54):
So well, I'll tell you about my trip next that's coming.
So Susan's getting all.

Speaker 7 (53:58):
The gifts, Susan, me Suasan, that'd be disappointed. Susan, you
did very well, jam Nation.

Speaker 3 (54:08):
So in my holidays I went to China with my
sons Liam and Jack. And one of the reasons was
that when I was working with Beyond two thousand, maybe
forty years ago, I went to China to Beijing, into
a whole lot of country areas, and it was a
really difficult, difficult trip, and I wanted to purge the
image of standing in a silk silkworm factory. I want

(54:28):
to get the sort of the the hardness of that
travel and that trip out of me.

Speaker 6 (54:32):
We went into a silkworm factory, yes, and was it
in a big cardboard shoe box.

Speaker 3 (54:36):
It wasn't. I ate my way through the mulberry leaves.
So we went to Beijing and Shanghai, two very different cities,
and it was great, and I'm glad we did Beijing
first because it's easy to think these big what seemed
like big modern cities, big shopping complexes, beautiful hotels, all
that stuff. The ruled areas I'm sure quite different, but

(54:56):
these big cities. But when we went to go to
tianam And Square. We went on a tour. It was
just us with a tour guide, and I wasn't sure
whether it was true or not. But they don't know
about They haven't learned Aboutman Square in the way.

Speaker 7 (55:10):
That we have on the whole tank.

Speaker 3 (55:11):
For Theman Square is the center of their power. That's
where the politicians come and stand on the big balcony.
That's where they show their strength of powers. As we know,
the tanks come in for their military parades, etc. So
I wonder why they think so many Westerners want to
go there. But this was the most stringent security I've
ever seen. Three different passport controls, very thorough pat downs.

(55:36):
They checked our waistbands, They checked to see if we
were carrying even bits of paper. Our guide turned very
serious as we were approaching and said, you cannot bring
in paper, couldnt bring in signs, you can't bring in
any written material in case, I guess we held up
signs and started a protest. Or said to the locals,
have a look at what.

Speaker 7 (55:56):
Guide did on Big Brother at that time. Held up
the sign. Well, at one point I knew when you
were there. I didn't send you any texts like.

Speaker 3 (56:05):
You know anything we know, and we were very respectible.

Speaker 7 (56:09):
I didn't want you to be in a Chinese ghula.

Speaker 3 (56:10):
Well, we were very respectful and very careful. When the
guide said, and of course we pay homage here to
our our great hero. I thought, I wonder if it's
the guy who stood in front of the tax tanks. No,
it's mao big portrait of you.

Speaker 7 (56:26):
Well, but not when you're over there.

Speaker 3 (56:27):
But we said nothing.

Speaker 7 (56:29):
But it was quite extraordinary, so there's no mention of
that whatsoever.

Speaker 3 (56:33):
And then we went to Shanghai, which is just a
fabulously modern city. I love the history of Beijing and
the Forbidden City, which is thousands of years of their
dynasties and where the concubines lived in the history of
all that brilliant. But Shanghai, the river's called the bund
b Und, lots of bars, restaurants, rooftop places all along there.
It was just brilliant. So we had a great time.

Speaker 7 (56:54):
Did she get bunded.

Speaker 3 (56:55):
I didn't get bunded. But it's interesting when you do
a tour, it's still like the old beyond tooth days.
They say we're going to stop here because our driver
needs a coffee. Suddenly I was at a silkworm factory again,
and they showed and the guy had a stick and
a board and was showing us the life cycle of
a silkworm. I thought, oh my god, I'm back here again.
And it was a different one, but back the same experience.

(57:17):
And then we went into a big showroom. We're the
only people there apart from the people who were standing
to attention, to serve us, trying to hey, look at
why don't you buy an ider down, Why don't you
buy a douner cover, Why don't you buy this? And that?
And that happened at a jade place. It happened at
a tea imporium, And so your travels, they go, We're
just going to stop here. See you can have a
cup of tea. Look look what we're selling. You can't.

(57:39):
You feel very hard to leave without playing something.

Speaker 7 (57:42):
Is it a good value?

Speaker 3 (57:43):
Not really? No, those places were very expensive.

Speaker 7 (57:45):
What's the toilet facilities like?

Speaker 3 (57:46):
Well, you know, most only found one squat toilet, most
of the toilets. And as I said, I only went
to cities. You had a choice of a squadron non squat,
and there's only one place, a cafe where I got
confused and ended up in the squat toilet. My thighs
weren't really up to it. A bit of you know,
I'm discomfort there.

Speaker 7 (58:04):
But you know, the.

Speaker 3 (58:08):
Bag I took every day had a spare pair of
undies and I didn't need them. You can sign of
a good trip.

Speaker 7 (58:12):
Very proud of you.

Speaker 3 (58:13):
My fake blonde hair really confused them as to my age,
because so many people said to me, I can't believe
these are your sons. You look too young to have
these sons. Consider I had my youngest son eldest son
when I was thirty eight. You look too young to
have had these sons. And I said, well, thank you.
And then they showed.

Speaker 7 (58:30):
Me they do they confuse you with?

Speaker 3 (58:33):
Well, they showed me photos of who they thought. I
looked like they were saying these as compliments.

Speaker 7 (58:38):
I would say, you would have Julian Clary.

Speaker 3 (58:42):
No, no, that's who you think I look.

Speaker 7 (58:46):
No, I don't.

Speaker 3 (58:46):
Just the first one brought up a photo and said
you look like this. It's Meryl Streep and Devil wes
Prada and the next one. And I've asked Ryan to
look at the Google the picture. Elon Musk's mother, who
is ninety years old. She's a very striking woman. She
is ninety. You know there's a she she is ninety?

Speaker 7 (59:11):
Oh goodness me ship you know what?

Speaker 3 (59:17):
Yeah what Brendan.

Speaker 7 (59:20):
What it's a bit of cruel vibe. Do you want
nice to see your Dalmatian coat?

Speaker 3 (59:25):
Do you do you want your give fit right in?
I'm going to give a presentis I bought this at
Shanghai Zoo when we saw the pandas it's.

Speaker 7 (59:34):
Not a silkworm kimono?

Speaker 5 (59:36):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (59:36):
No? No?

Speaker 8 (59:37):
What does it say?

Speaker 3 (59:39):
Well, it's in Chinese. I don't know what says.

Speaker 8 (59:40):
There's a picture.

Speaker 3 (59:41):
It's pretty much the back it's a key ring. It's
the back end of a panda. Through Google something or other.

Speaker 5 (59:48):
Don't fight over the bamboo and ruin my good behavior score?

Speaker 3 (59:51):
Is that what it says? Well you live by that?

Speaker 7 (59:54):
And Brendan, yeah, what if you are well?

Speaker 3 (59:56):
When you I wasn't going to give it to you
this to you on air because I was I don't
know if it's contra. It's a packet of you have.

Speaker 7 (01:00:02):
A look, it's a pack of smokes.

Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
Take it of cigarettes from square square smokes.

Speaker 7 (01:00:07):
I don't even smoke anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
No, I know, but I thought the packaging was interesting.

Speaker 6 (01:00:10):
Yeah, I'm in mal country now.

Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
I didn't get mal cancer.

Speaker 14 (01:00:19):
Right at that's enough.

Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Thank you, You're welcome.

Speaker 7 (01:00:23):
We will be back again tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Tinhatches, Eric do I tin hat still exists. We've been
away for two days. If someone wrap up some garlic
bread in them. I have to make sure you're going
to be okay.

Speaker 6 (01:00:31):

Speaker 7 (01:00:38):
