number one with a She wore a very plunging neck line.
Speaker 8 (01:57):
That was all the piano.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Maybe you should, Susie, if you could buy that outfit
for Sunday. So that's that's one of the risky Actually,
I've got around the wrong way. That should be conservative,
so conservative would be number one.
Speaker 8 (02:14):
She wasn't conservative.
Speaker 10 (02:15):
That's why she's going to ten. Susie all the way
at number ten, and then at number one. He's conservative
on TV?
Speaker 4 (02:23):

the neck.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Well, okay that you know. That's good. That's good, that's good.
It's understated. Just look at it's it's not.
Speaker 8 (03:03):
Sort of tradwife little house in the prairie A. It's
a stylish shot, but there's not a lot of skin
to be seen. Maybe a little bit above my Adam's
apple and that's about it.
Speaker 4 (03:13):
You don't have an Adams Adam. You're a woman, apparently. Yeah,
women don't have Adams apples.

Logo Show me again, Ryan? You know, should I be
insulted that you look so horrifically surprised? You look like
you look like you've never heard of something anything more ludicrous.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
You've gone full surprise, bro.
Speaker 8 (04:33):
Too much?
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Surprise, got too much. We've got to do the smug.
Speaker 8 (04:37):
Yeah yeah, and maybe punch there and go I knew it.
That's been in that double face surprise thing.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
Yeah, like at the end of Karate Kid. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,

Speaker 10 (04:51):
Paul is in Hello Paul. Any speculations as what Amanda
is wearing on Saturday Night. She's she said, she's between
well more towards Ita.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Than she is. Susie Yelloman, who wore a dress that
exposed a lot of her. Miss Susie had a lot
of revealing out she.

Speaker 8 (05:24):
Well, I'm going to leave it to be just a
giant surprise.
Speaker 12 (05:28):
I think.
Speaker 8 (05:31):
Susie's done that.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
You side one a poor question one Question one.
Speaker 8 (05:36):
Hieroglyphics were formal was a formal writing system used in
what ancient civilization where they have the hieroglyphics Egypt? Interestingly,
apparently that the majority of Egyptian hieroglyphs represents sounds, not objects.
So if there were let me quiz you, Brendan, if
there was a pair, don't look at the answer, look
(05:57):
at me.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
No, I'm looking at you.
Speaker 8 (05:59):
If there was a pair and and hood, that would
be parenthood, he said, having no, that's quite obvious. And hood, yeah,
So they were sort of sounded out sounds, Paul. That
would have had great fun on game nights.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Paul, you got that, didn't you?
Speaker 12 (06:14):
Thank you, Yes I did.
Speaker 4 (06:15):

Speaker 7 (07:23):
Let's kick off this.
Speaker 8 (07:28):
Nat is in Meilan's Hello Nat, Hello, Amanda. I cannot
wait to see what you're going to be wearing.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
At a local? Would you like to speculate? Nat?
Speaker 19 (07:38):
Well, look, Amanda could wear a Hessian sack and she.
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Would still be the most beautiful woman there.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Said, Yes, I am wearing a Hessian sack and no
doubt We've got your vote. Well, Amanda, when I say
we for sure, we're part of a team here.
Speaker 8 (07:54):
Actually, to be honest, the thing, the clothing side of
this is the hardest thing for me. I'd rather everyone
was issued a Logi's tracksuit and that's what we all wore.
Speaker 10 (08:05):
The hardest thing for Ryan and I will be are
we eating the chicken or the beef? If I'm getting
the beef. If you get the chicken.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
This is a problem when you go out with a man.
Speaker 8 (08:17):
Anyway, back to the questions, this is monster mash What
two songs now have we mashed together? We know one
of those songs is Ghostbusters? What's the other one?
Speaker 12 (08:33):
I think it's sunder Stress?
Speaker 20 (08:36):
Right?
Speaker 4 (08:40):
How many official standard time zones does Continental Australia have
nat Is it A two, B three or C four?
Speaker 8 (08:51):
Let's go be three three as Australian Eastern Standard Time,
Australian Central Standard Time, Australian Western Standard.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Yeah, that's that's that's the time that you're living in.
Speaker 10 (09:03):
Burton Esque is a term used to describe the distinctive
style of which Hollywood director.
Speaker 16 (09:08):
Burton Burton Tim Burton, Tim Burton.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
He gets a normal movie and makes it weird.
Speaker 8 (09:19):

top Gun.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
At the end of Top Gun, you know, they get
back on the aircraft carrier and they're all high five
and that's what will be like.
Speaker 8 (09:52):

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Your way up? Actually in your way, your slowness down, NAT,
congreg relations you won the jam pack. You will find

Thanks so much guys.
Speaker 8 (10:07):
Thank you Nat, and I hope you enjoy my Hessian sack.
Speaker 12 (10:10):
I just can't wait, unreal.
Speaker 8 (10:12):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (10:13):
Maybe a little bit of that because Hessian can be
quite porous, a bit revealing.
Speaker 8 (10:19):
I've been more likely to get a rash or is
that the part.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
You have to put on a singlet and that's not sexy?
The first five.

Speaker 23 (11:28):

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Okay, lock it in lock it in. No, that's not
one of the words.
Speaker 8 (11:50):
This box is this Are they supposed to be about you?
Speaker 7 (11:54):
Well, I mean.
Speaker 4 (11:56):
Chiseled, handsome. We're not even supposed to repeat these words anyway.
Register well done Ryan. You words that have never been
ever associated with Ryan.
Speaker 10 (12:08):
Last one registered to player Jones Adabuda dot com dot
are you or you could call us when we ask
you to call us?
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Retain those words? Okay?
Speaker 8 (12:16):
Jem Luke McGregor is back on our screens as co
host of one of my absolutely favorite shows, which is
Portrait Artist of the Year Australia. I was lucky enough
to be painted by a young woman called Jennet Pickering
last year. It's an what a gift of an experience
that is. And some of the country's most talented artists,
amateur artists are stepping up again to paint a whole
(12:39):
lot of Australian faces. And Luke of course is at
the helm. Hello Luke, how are you?
Speaker 9 (12:45):
Very great?
Speaker 18 (12:45):
Good?
Speaker 11 (12:46):
Thank you?
Speaker 19 (12:47):
The Jenna Pickering is incredible.
Speaker 8 (12:49):
She does amazing work, she does and she painted me.
She's from the Pilboro region. She painted me on a
block of wood that she'd brought down from the Pilborough.
I've got it at home. What a fabulous thing. It's
such an interesting experience because I've watched the English series
for years and I watched the Australian one two obviously,
but it's you can see the gift in what the
(13:11):
artist is doing, but it's so weird for yourself to
see how three artists see you.
Speaker 19 (13:18):
Yeah, and then having to decide which one you want
to pick in front of the three artists is brutal
and something that I'm glad I don't have to go through.
Speaker 8 (13:27):
So true, so true, So you The way it works
is as the person who's been sitting for the portrait,
you choose which of the three you want, but that's
not necessarily the artist that goes through to the semis,
because then the judges decide.
Speaker 19 (13:40):
It's such a it feels like such a wholesome show,
but there is no way to get away from the
the slight like I don't know, I feel so bad
that like it's still a competition. It's I mean, the hope,
I guess is that the artist get to be in
front of these judges and it helps their career moving forward.
But it is, Yeah, it's I can't imagine how it
(14:02):
is for the guests to I think our record for
longest time taking to decide is John Saffron. He I
didn't think he was going to pick. I thought he
was just gonna grab all three and run away.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Right. So, because there's any artist been upset that they've
been excluded from it.
Speaker 19 (14:20):
Not yet, but you know, there's always the hope with
the reality show that one day I just like break
the easel over the guests head.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
Well, I'm looking forward to seeing the show.
Speaker 10 (14:30):
And then with Amanda's one, the lady she used a
bit of thrift, she used recycled a bit of wood.
Speaker 8 (14:36):
Well, lots of people do. She painted on wood, but
other people painting all kinds of things, Luke, don't they.
Speaker 19 (14:42):
Yeah, we had this this season. We had someone on aluminium,
which was really hard because you've got to give it
a certain amount of time to drive before you can
apply the next layer. We had another lady who was
just setting fire to wood, just burning wood, which again
is not something you can rush it. But yeah, we've
(15:02):
had people use coffee grounds and they used coffee grounds
and water to and they put more or less into
dilute the beans to get a different shade of brown.
They had the best smelling painting by far.
Speaker 4 (15:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 19 (15:18):
It's one of those things where I was thinking of
art as like an easel and you need space and
you need money and you need a set up, whereas people, yeah, people,
I mean one guy used masking tape and created an
amazing portraits out of just black tape.
Speaker 11 (15:32):
So you never know.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Wow, has anyone ever painted using other parts of their body?
Speaker 19 (15:37):
Oh, we haven't had any. Glenn Robbins doing a penis
painting has not. That's where I was heading, Luke, but
it's it's I'm like fingers crossed fingers.
Speaker 23 (15:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Portrait Artists of the Year returns this Sunday at seventy
thirty on ABC TV and I View.
Speaker 8 (15:56):
It's a wonderful Thanks for having me.
Speaker 19 (15:58):
I really appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
You're listening into the Jonesy and Demanda podcast now about
a miracle of recording and Amanda.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Amanda are two great names.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
I'm not a scatter. Thanks the chemistry between them.
Speaker 8 (16:13):
But find your own business and shut your pie.
Speaker 10 (16:15):
I wish you were with your show Friday, the fourteenth
of August. Action packed hour coming up.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
We've got water Cooler chat on the way I know
you like.
Speaker 8 (16:24):
The idea of calling it water cooler chat. It's actually
more like a would you rather kind of a thing,
because who actually who stands around a water cool Everyone
has their own frank green drinking containers.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
No one stands around a frank green bottle while Sally
works at home.
Speaker 8 (16:38):
No, well, maybe we should just call it team Zoom
meet water cooler chat.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Okay is coming up? Also total recall with words provided
by Ryan today?
Speaker 8 (16:49):
Can he actually form entire words?
Speaker 4 (16:51):
I can?
Speaker 24 (16:52):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (16:53):
And these words they're very important words. They really capture
who I am?
Speaker 8 (16:58):
Oh God, whose idea was this?
Speaker 4 (17:02):
I don't know? Anyway, there's two thousand dollars riding on
this jamous the big push, the final push.
Speaker 8 (17:10):
Well, it doesn't need to be a push. We're not
giving birth to anything. Are you talking about the logies?
Speaker 4 (17:15):
And of course this is happening on Sunday, it will
happen for you. I've manifested. I want this to happen
for you.
Speaker 8 (17:21):
And did you not manifest the other years?
Speaker 9 (17:22):
I did?
Speaker 10 (17:24):
But I feel that people don't know how hard it
is to do what you do. You know, and like
some people say, well, you're not saving lives, you're not
doing any of that.
Speaker 8 (17:35):
Who said that.
Speaker 4 (17:38):
What they say, pardon is what you do is a skill,
it's a unique skill.
Speaker 13 (17:43):
Everyone who's nominated has got all come come, Yes, But
but you are the best in the business, the TV
presenting in itself, and I've seen you and I've worshiped
at the table of your hosting, and I've often thought,
how good is she usual?
Speaker 4 (17:57):
And that's why I'm pleading this case, why you should
win the TV Week But youton Best present a LOGI Award.
Speaker 8 (18:04):
Thank you very much, Brendan. You know what, And I've
said this before and people don't believe or you don't
believe it. I'm just toughed to be there that when
I didn't win the Gold, I was up for the
Gold a couple for a couple of times, and it
really didn't matter to me. It didn't change how I
felt about myself, didn't change how I felt about my job,
(18:26):
my self worth, It didn't eat into any of that.
And I found the process quite exhausting, to be honest,
this time around, at sixty four, to be nominated for
a show like the Piano, it's just a gift. The
first logis I ever went to. I think I was
probably twenty four years old.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
So were you nominated or a guest sing?
Speaker 8 (18:45):
My boyfriend was working at Simon Townsend's Wonderworld, Yeah, the present.
He was one of the reporters there.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
That was Phil Tanner.
Speaker 8 (18:52):
Tanner I was. I worked there as a segment producer.
Speaker 4 (18:56):
So you went on TV at this day No, I
went as a plus one?
Speaker 8 (18:59):
Those were the days? How did you feel?
Speaker 4 (19:00):
How did you feel?
Speaker 8 (19:01):
It was exciting? But also I borrowed I was working
at No by then I'd left Wonder while I was
working as a segment producer on the midday show Right
with Ray with Ray Martin. So I borrowed a dress
from someone who worked in wardrobe at Channel nine. Big
shoulder pads, big kind of sequence. She was older than
I was, but it didn't matter. That was the dress.
And I did the rookie mistake of cleaning my teeth
(19:22):
when I was wearing the dress and got a thing
of toothpaste on the shoulder. I remember all night, You
know how hard it is to get toothpaste out of clothes.
All night I was just looking putting salivra on my
finger and trying to get the toothpaste off my shoulder.
That's most of what I remember of the night. So
I would have been thrilled to know that when I
was sixty four, I would have pictured, as I said before,
(19:43):
I would have looked like Whistler's mother. Yeah, sixty four
to be up for an award. I'm just shuffed. I'm
just shuffed. That's and chafed.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Those spakes, well those I can just imagine. That is
so you with the toothpaste. Nineteen eighty six. You remember
who was hosting it?
Speaker 8 (19:59):
I don't really what I know.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Let me just google.
Speaker 8 (20:05):
Was it Darryl six? Was it Burt?
Speaker 4 (20:08):
No, No, it was Michael Willersey.
Speaker 8 (20:11):
Really he hosted it, but they would have had to
have some possess.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
But you know who won the gold LOGI I can
see in.
Speaker 8 (20:17):
Your face is a Darryl said he never made the
King of the double take. We had a neck brace
on what remember he like?
Speaker 4 (20:26):
You know, say what you want about Dallas.
Speaker 8 (20:28):
He can do a good double tap.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
I remember, like Daryl and that that particularly in nineteen
eighty six. Remember he teamed up with the Melbourne Symphony
Orchestra and not only did he sing, but he tap
danced at the logis no no, no, This is just
the cold. This is what got in the Goldliki. This
is what got Darrel the Gold Leggy. So this is
Darrel from nineteen eighty six singing. Now tap dancing is
(21:01):
a joke, then open to the drum kid. That's a soulbot.
Speaker 8 (21:10):
Is a triple threat.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
Okay, is that?
Speaker 8 (21:16):
Why don't my drum solo?
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Even John Bonham's going Come on, mate, do you think
I needed to do that? That's maybe you need a
little bit of tap dancing.
Speaker 23 (21:32):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
I'm just going to say this, Please, I'm vote for
my friend. Thank you, because you are worthy of this.
Speaker 8 (21:40):
Thank you. Look, I think everyone who's nominated, even people
who aren't nominated, or worthy of this. But it just
depends how it goes on the night and whatever happens.
I'm going to turn up here on Monday. And actually
the good thing is, for the first time since I've
been going to logis and doing radio, I'm not doing
breakfast radio, so I can go to the party. I'll
have a great night no matter what happens, and I'll
(22:02):
turn up with all the goss on Monday.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Myself. Jim Y Rye will be in the crowd.
Speaker 8 (22:07):
He is streaming this might be the last time we
hear this song.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
That's our girl will be saying thank you for.
Speaker 8 (22:14):
Your support, Brendon, But either way, I'm loving life.
Speaker 10 (22:19):
Vote for Amanda TV week LOGI Awards dot com dot
AU Thank you.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Follow the prompts. It's gonna happen on Friday.
Speaker 8 (22:27):
Don't you don't have on Sunday?
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Oh great, it's happening. Now we're getting matching tattoos. Who
you me and Rayan team success Gernation.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Friday is a great day to gather around and chat
about whatever tickles your fancy.
Speaker 8 (22:46):
We do have it is a would you rather? But
you like to call it water?
Speaker 4 (22:50):
Would you rather? Doesn't have a snappy jingle. It's almost
like the older water.
Speaker 8 (23:05):
Cooler chest, more like today's conundrum.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Okay, you know, in the old days, they used to
have a furfee you know the word furfey because people
would stand around the furfy water cart, so they would
bring water to the stockman.
Speaker 8 (23:20):
Made up story.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
Now that's exactly. It's an eponym. An eponym comes from
with Jones, a real thing. So the furfie water cart
was a cart that would go around and people would
have a drink of water out of it. And they
would talk around.
Speaker 8 (23:36):
And presumably talk bs, which is where Furfy came from.
Speaker 10 (23:40):
So that the modern day furfy is our water cooler,
or as you said before, the frank green bottle.
Speaker 8 (23:46):
Yeah, the frank green bottle that everyone's drinking in their
own homes while they're on a zoom and.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Some gen z are working at home.
Speaker 8 (23:52):
Anyway, here's today's water cooler chat conundrum.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Hit me?
Speaker 8 (23:57):
Would you rather here's the first bit, laugh at a
joke that you didn't quite hear, and then you're asked
to explain it awful.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Awful or many times that's happened to me, And what
have you done? I go, you know, it's that thing
about the thing, and then I got to go the toilet.
Speaker 8 (24:15):
So would you rather that laughing at a joke you
didn't quite here and then have to explain it to
the group?
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yep?
Speaker 8 (24:20):
Or this one is excruciating. Introduce someone that you've worked
with for six months and you've never learnt Then oh,
that's a story of our lives.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
That's you.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
No, that's you. You know what you do? You walk
through this building and go hey yeah, yeah. You just
point at people, Hey Sharon, Hey, Sam, and then you
just get to a whole batch you don't know, and
you go, yeah, I watch it happen every sing.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
As you you go, Hello, I'm a mana what's your name?
I'm Jenny, I've worked it for twenty years and I'm
the CEO. That's what you do. We all do it.
We all do it. But they're too I'd rather the
first one. It's easy to get out of the first one.
Speaker 8 (24:54):
And if you've got a personality like you, because people
think that you've paid no attention, you're a bit of
an idiot. Not everyone all that off that. Not everyone
can pull that out.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
All right.
Speaker 8 (25:03):
This is it laughing at a joke you didn't hear,
and then in a big group being asked to explain
it or introduce someone that you've worked with the six
months and you've never learnt their name.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
Jimy Ray. You can start the ball rolling with this.
Speaker 9 (25:15):
I do the name thing because there was different techniques
you can you can use to find out someone's name
if you've forgotten it.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
But if they just say instantly, oh, Ryan will do
the introductions.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
That's sorry. You would A man would do that, Ryan,
How about you?
Speaker 8 (25:33):
It's spiner tightening all round? Okay, maybe that's the name
of the second sound effects giving kid.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
Okay, I think we've we've heard, you've heard what we've
had to say about this Around the water?
Speaker 8 (25:44):
Could you choose?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
And Amanda Can't shut up? On the Jonesy and Amanda
podcast Download the free iHeart app.
Speaker 24 (25:51):
Studies have shown and more information gets passed through water
cooler gossip than through.
Speaker 7 (25:55):
Official man.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
So does col I'd say, gather around, colleagues.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
Gather around to the nineteen eighties where we stood around
a water cool It could.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Be the nineteen twelves when we stood around the furfy
water carts.
Speaker 8 (26:14):
The old nineteen twelves, bring them.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Back, these taste. They're all standing around a frank, green water.
Speaker 8 (26:19):
In their own homes, pretending to do.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
And maybe that's a problem with the young generation. They've
got nothing to stand around.
Speaker 8 (26:25):
Well, let's discuss today's would you rather dilemma? Sphincter tightening conundrum?
That's a title for another segment. Okay, here's what we're asking,
would you rather laugh at a joke that you didn't
quite hear and then you're asked to explain it to
a group or introduce someone that you've worked with for
six months and you never learned their name. Option A
(26:47):
for me all the way Ryan thought it would take.
Option B. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (26:51):
Well, there's different techniques.
Speaker 9 (26:52):
You can use whatchnique or you go what's your Instagram handle?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
No?
Speaker 8 (26:57):
No, if I say Ryan, introduce everyone, I've got no
time to do any of that.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
Okay, so hang on, let's just roll play. Yeah, so
you have forgoten Amanda's name.
Speaker 8 (27:06):
Yeah, yeah, hi, hi hi, Brandon saying quickly introduced me
to the room.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
Who's this young lady?
Speaker 25 (27:13):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (27:14):
Just before we do that, can I just get your
Instagram number fifty eight?
Speaker 4 (27:19):
This is my friend Panops. I don't know.
Speaker 10 (27:24):
And also, as I am of a certain age, I
can't go around asking young ladies for their Instagram handle
because then it'll be at hhrh we'll all be gathered.
Speaker 8 (27:34):
Well, let's see which of these options people.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Without a study in the world. Ryan sab has joined
us on water cooler Chat.
Speaker 8 (27:40):
Are sab Hi? Guys so laughing at a joke you
didn't hear and then having to explain it or introducing
someone whose name you should know but don't.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
So this has actually happened to me, and I'll go
with the option B. And the technique that I had is, oh,
I've worked with this person for about six months. And
then when those two people who are being introduced and
start talking to each other, nine times out of ten
they go, Hi, I'm blah blah blah, Oh, I'm nice.
For me, I'm this, and then I'm like, cool, that's
(28:09):
her name. And that's how I've gotten out of it.
Speaker 4 (28:11):
Yeah, it doesn't always sometimes that can work.
Speaker 8 (28:15):
Sometimes, you know, you can smell that technique mile away.
The one stands it looks at you go really sad, Really.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
I've revealed my thing.
Speaker 8 (28:24):
Thank you, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Brad has joined around the water cool.
Speaker 8 (28:27):
Are you choosing option A or Option B?
Speaker 16 (28:30):
I'm choosing the not to forget someone's name.
Speaker 6 (28:34):
My people all the time.
Speaker 11 (28:35):
I call mate old mate, you know, so I'd prefer
to look stupid than try and be deceptive.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
Yep, and try and lure your way out of a
joker wasn't talking about. So yeah, definitely be for me
and Amanda.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
My whole family voted for you.
Speaker 8 (28:47):
So Amanda, Brad, that's wonderful news. Let me just say though,
it's an easy option for men to go his mate,
he's whatever, what if you're introducing a woman.
Speaker 16 (28:55):
Oh well, i'd say, I'll probably say dahala.
Speaker 6 (28:58):
Then I'd probably get sacked for that.
Speaker 8 (28:59):
Yeah, that's an interesting I think that's when you duck
and roll and look for cover and pretend you're on fire.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
I was on a corporate trip one time on the
Gold Coaster.
Speaker 10 (29:08):
My wife was with me, and there was a group
of these people that I knew all the names except
for one guy.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
I was sure his name was Simon, but it wasn't
one hundred percent. So I said to Helen, We're going
to go into the circle of dudes. I know everyone
in this group. I want you to introduce yourself to
that guy. When I'm talking to the other.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
Guy, tell me that was fail safe, because that sounds perfect.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Helen nods ahead and goes, yes, we go into the group.
She introduces herself to every person that I knew, not
the guy. Then it looked even worse, and he has
and one of my chop level and I went, oh, yeah,
and this.
Speaker 8 (29:44):
Is why did she do that?
Speaker 4 (29:45):
I don't know. She misunderstood the she misunderstood the and
the guy and knew and it was just it was terrible.
Speaker 25 (29:54):
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (29:57):
Let's see what Sloan has to think Sloan explaining a
joke that you haven't quite heard and pretended to hear,
or introducing someone who's whose name you should know.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
Listen, I have been in the predicament of both, and
I can tell you the first one is just terribly.
Speaker 8 (30:14):
Mortifying A joke one have you had to do that?
Speaker 5 (30:18):
It's mortifying. I don't ever want to be in that
predicament predicament again. So I'm I'm more at ease.
Speaker 12 (30:24):
With option B.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
And if the joke is imagine if it's like an
incredibly racist messon and you've.
Speaker 8 (30:31):
Laughed along having no idea what.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Said to right mate, and they go, excuse me, explain well,
and then.
Speaker 8 (30:39):
Terrible thank you, sla say, it's one of Sloan's jokes.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
We'll wrap this up with Glenn.
Speaker 11 (30:43):
Glen, Look, you know what, I could go with either,
but I'm going to go with option B because you've
always got a strategy around introducing somebody and you can
kind of control that.
Speaker 16 (30:57):
So you know, Oh, Bob, here these guys new. I
know you're going to work together. You're really going to
enjoy working together. How about you till you know, just
tell them about yourself. It's always just what it is.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
Always.
Speaker 8 (31:11):
Let me just say this, gleam. What if you're what
if you're hosting some kind of seminar, Everyone in the
room is seated and you have you're the one person
who has to introduce that person. What do you do then?
Speaker 12 (31:23):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (31:24):
Well, you know then it's a bit of a dance
around it. But there'll be something to say. And you
all know him, you've seen him before and we've been
waiting for him. Come on out and just skip.
Speaker 4 (31:36):
Over, skip over. You mean no help. Thank you. I
just like when a man who introduces himself to someone
that's been working here for forty longer than I I
built this company. Thank you for all your calls. Thank
you for being part of.
Speaker 7 (32:02):

you five words that he's picked from just randomly. That
he seemed to be quite pleased with that. I know
he thinks described him. Yes, we gave you five words
in a particular order. You have to tell us those
words in exactly that order. Twenty two thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
Paul has called us on thirteen fifty five, twenty two.
Paul's in Darwin. Hello, Paul, how are I well? How's
things going? Mate?
Speaker 15 (32:56):

Speaker 12 (32:57):

Speaker 12 (33:02):
I imagine starting a warm up. The weather's just starting
your change now, so I'm starting the warm up.
Speaker 10 (33:07):
You know, I could talk about the weather and the
top end all day. But right now, Paul, two thousand
dollars is on the line. You heard the words describe
where alleging jim Y Wraye. Would you think, not knowing
him that well, would that describe him very well?
Speaker 12 (33:26):
Quite possibly? Yes?
Speaker 8 (33:27):
All right, let's see if you know the words, what
are those five words in the order in which they
were given?
Speaker 12 (33:34):
Handsome, charming, chiseled, genius, x well.
Speaker 8 (33:41):
Xbox prescott, any memory in your head?
Speaker 5 (33:43):
An Now he could have total recap.
Speaker 8 (33:46):
Congratulations and as simple as that, you've got two thousand dollars. Yeah, congratulations,
Thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
Nice, Thanks you weekend mate, look after yourself. Thanks for
the kind word appreciated. I think your words, Ryan think
it's an endorsement for Paul to you right, thank you.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Amanda podcast.
Speaker 7 (34:17):
Yeah, it's going a request for them to do it again.
Speaker 8 (34:21):
Mentioned lay off the moonshine, knocking a man.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
It's so week Friday Field Sessions. We had a great
one with Bachelor Girl last week and today it gets
better and better. Who do gurus are in the studio?
Where loving it? The boys have arrived. I'm just what's
your favorite? Who do you gururself? Play me some rifts
(34:46):
and I'll give you a rift because you're the riff queen.
That too, that's tojo.
Speaker 12 (34:56):
Jack.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
That emp tojo not getting into Dalla during World War
two Edge immacational as well. What about this one?
Speaker 8 (35:05):
Nice face a greyhound in the film clip? Didn't it?
Speaker 7 (35:08):
My girl?
Speaker 4 (35:14):
I bet you think I'm kinky, right?
Speaker 8 (35:17):
Pardon?
Speaker 9 (35:18):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (35:19):
I love this one.
Speaker 25 (35:20):
No.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
I was just saying that.
Speaker 8 (35:28):
What will they play today?
Speaker 4 (35:30):
We are in the zone The Hoodoo Gurus are coming
up next on gold GM.
Speaker 8 (35:35):
We have had some incredible people come in for our
Friday Field sessions. We've had solo artists, we've had duos,
we've had a quartet member Jersey Boys. But one thing
we haven't had, and we've been quite desperate, is a band.
And today, not just any band, we have the Hoodoo
Gurus to tear up the studio. Dave Faulkner, Brad Shepherd,
(35:56):
Rick Roseman, Hello, hell, hello, well steady on. Actually have
you ever been the kind of band to do those things?
To throw TVs out of windows? Or is all that apocryphal?
Speaker 24 (36:07):
I think the worst we've got was a cheese platter.
Speaker 8 (36:10):
You make a mess. We weren't happy the hotel afterwards.
Speaker 4 (36:14):
We make our beds in hotels when we.
Speaker 8 (36:17):
Leave hospital corners and a tidy vallon. So but you,
I mean, obviously you've lived lives, but you've never been
known for being the crazy guys.
Speaker 24 (36:30):
I'm guessing no, Well, especially for me, you know, as
a singer, I kind of put myself in cotton wall
a little bit. These guys can cut them cut up
if they want, but they really don't do that either.
So we're pretty clean living.
Speaker 8 (36:40):
And because of your voice, I know that you know
you hear of Mariah Carey care is sleeping with humidy,
fires on certain angles and things like that. Do you
at nine o'clock say sorry, I can't stay at this
loud restaurant.
Speaker 9 (36:53):
I have to go. Uh.
Speaker 24 (36:55):
It is the fact that I've got to be honest.
You know, I generally don't go to restaurants anyway. I mean,
I don't drink a glass of wine or anything on
the day of a show, and even probably the day
before a show. I'll be careful about that. So yeah,
I'm a little bit of a hermit when it comes
to you have to be your instrument, my instrument. It
is not the greatest instruments, so I got to take
care of what's there. But you know, it's just, you know,
(37:18):
I enjoy playing so much that it's not a sacrifice
to give up a little bit of a you know,
a bit of drinking and carousing in the day before,
when you're gonna have so much fun on stage next night.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Well, it seems more and more that that's not the
case anymore. The old days.
Speaker 24 (37:31):
Ah, Look, you know that we had our moments back
in the day, and you know, I'm sure there'll be
some moments ahead of us. But you know, when you're
working a lot, you don't want to do a bad
job for people.
Speaker 8 (37:40):
You know, did you have any idea when you were
first recording these songs how universally iconic they'd become.
Speaker 24 (37:49):
No idea, of course, you know. I mean every song
was written just becre because of something that was striking
me at the time, and then take it to the
band and get in rehearsal and see if it works
for everyone else. And that's what as as far as
we ever thought, you know, we pleased ourselves. And then
the next thing, you know, people are sort of doing
what they want with them afterwards, and you know, using
them for weddings and funerals and all sorts of things,
(38:11):
you know, becoming quite involved in people's real lives outside
of you know, we could ever imagine that.
Speaker 8 (38:16):
What are some of the stories you've heard about how
your music has been used?
Speaker 24 (38:19):
Well, definitely, you know, as I say, weddings and funerals
and sometimes the same song which is kind of amazing.
It was a song called Castles in the Air, which
is from the Kinky Elm, which is the one that
had one thousand miles Away on it. And yeah, that
song I actually say at a friend's wedding. Jonathan Docking
used to play for the Sharks. I was that he
gusked me missing that one. And then someone wrote to
(38:42):
me recently I said that they played at their dad's
funeral and you know he loved the HOODI Gurus and
that song. It's all about you know, the cycle of
oh well actually is more about connection that song, So
it makes it works for either sort of thing, you know,
making connection or you know, losing a connection with someone
that you still are connected to.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
But it's good that you guys come in for the
Friday Field sessions. We've only had anything but success so far.
Speaker 24 (39:06):
It will be anything but success.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
We've had nothing, nothing can possibly go wrong. So boys,
what we're going to do is because we've got the
full complement of guitars and bass, so this is a
big deal. Yeah.
Speaker 24 (39:20):
We unfortunately Nick couldn't make it our drummer, but you've
got the three piece versions acoustic style, so we're going
to manfully manage without the drums.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
As a former drummer, Stop right where you are, Stop
right where you are. I'm not stepping in, so we're
going to come back. We'll have a break and then
the Hoodio Gurus live for the Friday Field sessions on Gold.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
You can see a whole lot more of Jonesy and
Demander on our socials. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
This is a bit strange. We're in the breakout room.
Speaker 8 (39:49):
We are in the breakout room. This is where we
apply the Cleary stole so we don't break out anymore.
But we've come down here because we needed a bit
more space, a bit more vibe.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
What do you think right now? We've got Dave, Brad
and Rick from Hoodoo is standing behind us.
Speaker 8 (40:01):
They're right behind us.
Speaker 4 (40:02):
They're very nicely, they're rest they're very well dressed and
they look fantastic and so they're going to be performing
What's are We do have completely forgotten.
Speaker 8 (40:10):
A little old number called What's My Scene?
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Everybody's happy with that, So ladies and gentlemen with that.
In further ado, the Hoodoo girl is What's My Scene?
On Goal?
Speaker 20 (40:33):
And another thing I've been wondering lately, a baby, tell
me where have you've been?
Speaker 16 (40:45):
Now?
Speaker 18 (40:45):
The status said, where's my dully yet?
Speaker 7 (40:47):
Baby?
Speaker 22 (40:50):
Is it?
Speaker 7 (40:50):
Baby? Man?
Speaker 18 (40:52):
It's a nice dream, what's messy?
Speaker 4 (40:58):
What's my messy?
Speaker 7 (41:01):
Watch my mercy?
Speaker 19 (41:03):

Oh I do could if you tell me your game?
Playing solitaire doesn't get me where you was? And honey,
(41:32):
you could play by any rules that you name. What's
my mercy? Watch myscy? What's my scene?
Speaker 13 (41:45):
Tell me?
Speaker 4 (41:45):
I gotta tell.
Speaker 7 (41:46):
What's my watch?
Speaker 4 (41:48):
My watch my?
Speaker 8 (41:50):
What's my need?
Speaker 7 (41:52):
What's my watch?
Speaker 6 (41:54):
My?
Speaker 23 (41:55):
What's my what's my They say yeah, they say, then
nothing can make it pay? They say also, they say,
we know there's a better way, and it.
Speaker 7 (42:10):
Says, hey, whereas.
Speaker 8 (42:37):
A single long bit.
Speaker 20 (42:40):
Ready in your car wherever you may be? And another
thing I've been wondering, Hey, I can't hear you and
I cray you see do you believe in ideals?
Speaker 22 (42:52):
No or not?
Speaker 25 (42:54):
I have a bet in there, but just getting there

Speaker 8 (43:07):

I'm not Patrick. I'm encouraging a big difference. Big difference.
Speaker 22 (47:05):
Cheritation means Jenna and she loves cats, talk, snapchat.
Speaker 7 (47:10):
She's a social media girl.
Speaker 8 (47:13):
We like to call her a social media dance stick.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
What's popping doll?
Speaker 9 (47:19):
Oh?
Speaker 15 (47:19):
Wow, it just gets worse and doesn't it Anyway, It's
been a big week across the Jonesy and a Man's socials,
and it all started with Tony Bratton's on air slip
up on the QBC Shopping Channel.
Speaker 26 (47:33):
Oh yes, I love to show the texture and this
wave pattern again. It looks like you went and got
a blow job at your blowout at your salon.
Speaker 8 (47:48):
And it looks beautiful. All right.
Speaker 14 (47:53):
So here's what's happening today. We're having a huge beauty sale.
Everything ships to you for free, but that goes away
at the end of the day. I will remind you
that this is a one time only price.
Speaker 4 (48:04):
But she starts to lose it.
Speaker 8 (48:06):
They all start to lose know exactly what's happening today.
Speaker 15 (48:09):
So your reaction to the hilarious clip has received close
to a million views across our socials, with the actual
QVC channel's Instagram account writing Tony was iconic, but so
was Terry's recovery.
Speaker 8 (48:24):
Who's Terry? That must be the off side of the show,
which is the role that I play on this show.
Speaker 4 (48:30):
In es this is not a forum to grind an
axe well.
Speaker 15 (48:34):
Jason added, She'll think about this moment the rest.
Speaker 8 (48:37):
Of her life, absolutely, followed.
Speaker 15 (48:39):
By David who comments Jones. He says, where is this salon?
Exactly as sadly.
Speaker 8 (48:49):
Walk away just with a hairdode, asking for a friend.
Speaker 15 (48:53):
Another popular post was our can of worms segment.
Speaker 4 (48:56):
Earlier in the weeks, a new segment was poor.
Speaker 8 (49:00):
Not the intro, it's awful.
Speaker 4 (49:01):
I'm glad you asked there's the worms. That's enough worms right, terrible.
Speaker 8 (49:12):
This is where we asked about the blind in the plane.
Speaker 15 (49:15):
Yes, yeah, so we asked whether the person sitting in
the window seat of a plane gets full control of
the blind. So we put a pole on our socials
asking the questions, and eighty seven percent of people agree
that the window seat does get full control. Really yes,
so Chris says, window gets one arm rest and the
window control middle gets two arm rests. I'll gets one
(49:38):
arm rest in some extra legroom. We are not animals.
We live in a society.
Speaker 4 (49:43):
Right on, You know that person should be running this country.
Speaker 8 (49:47):
What's the extra legroom? Just so you can put it
out into it.
Speaker 4 (49:50):
Although there's nothing worse when your knees hanging out a
bit and then the host he comes down with the
trolley book straight in your knee.
Speaker 15 (49:58):
On another note, it's time for digital Jenna's. So this
is where I choose my favorite contributor of the week
who will receive a bespoke tin hat made by a man.
Speaker 8 (50:09):
I'll get onto it right now.
Speaker 15 (50:10):
And this week it goes to Lee, who sent us
this beautiful message. He writes, Hi, guys, I just want
to let Amanda know that she was an inspiration to me.
This morning I had to do an interview for Channel
seven News up here on the Mid North Coast, and
I was quite nervous about doing it. I channeled Amanda
thinking how she would have done it, and it definitely
made me feel at ease. So thank you. We moved
(50:33):
to the south of Port McCrory just over two years ago,
and thank God for radio as I can still listen
and have a good cackle to Jones and Amanda.
Speaker 8 (50:41):
All the very best Lee, Lee, what a lovely thing, Lee.
Speaker 4 (50:46):
We have Lee's support for your Logi's tilt.
Speaker 8 (50:49):
Let's not harangue Lee. At the end of that beautiful
letter is Sinn.
Speaker 4 (50:53):
Thank you Jenna.
Speaker 8 (50:54):
We'll like to call her social media dance.
Speaker 4 (50:59):
