I know this drive show at number one in Australia.
We are the number one drive show in Australia and
we are just so delighted and thrilled because when we've
been talking a little bit about this today, since.
Speaker 6 (01:07):
Are you going to do the little engine that could speech?
Speaker 2 (01:09):
If you'd like that that I was just going to
say that we were trying to when we left breakfast.
Speaker 8 (01:14):
We're trying to work out what a drive show is
and I'd like to think that we may be landing
in the right place. We thought, what do you guys
want to hear as we went to the Fruit of
Plains as it work, and we think, you know, life
at work can be tricky, or during the day, whatever
you're doing, life at home can sometimes be harder. You
get home and it's homework with the kids or whatever
(01:35):
it might be. We wanted to be that bubble, that
soft landing between those two parts of your day. So
a bit of fun, a bit of stupid, sometimes a
bit of information and I hope we're.
Speaker 6 (01:46):
Hitting the right you said before the mary Neam Can
you explain that that.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Mary Neam was the term I heard?
Speaker 8 (01:52):
Don't drag me to say that was the mary Neme
was the term I heard of that period between Christmas
and New Year. It's the Christmas version of the Perry
Nan Merry name. I thought we could be the Germany.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
I mentioned it a few times that we're no further
than this office until now, because no one seemed to
like the idea in promotion.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
No one wants a pisi No no, no, no, that's
talk back radio for you.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yeah that's right now.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
We want it well like a barm.
Speaker 8 (02:17):
So we are absolutely thrilled that we hope we're doing
the right thing by open the champagne.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
I can't open champagne. Well shall I try?
Speaker 9 (02:28):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
There's expensive equipment.
Speaker 6 (02:29):
I tell it. You work.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
You don't have to do it all right now, you
just start taking off the little to that time.
Speaker 8 (02:35):
My husband and I were in a restaurant. It was
on our honeymoon in Malaysia, and there's a place called
the Bitch of Forbidden Love. And there weren't many Westerners there,
but the table next to us was a big sort
of Western tosser in a cravat and a sort of
seventy year old punts with a young Malaysian man, and
he brought a bottle of wine and behind the Punts's
back he didn't know, but the waiter looked at the wine,
(02:58):
had no idea what to do, and was opening his teeth.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
You know, fancy, Well, why don't you work on that,
because we've got a lot on this show today. Karl
Stefanovic and Eddie McGuire are going to be joining us in.
Speaker 6 (03:14):
This very studio.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
They've got a new radio show starting on our network
tomorrow and they're going to come in as a bit
of a warm up.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I'm sniff the successful air.
Speaker 5 (03:24):
That is us also also Instagram, and we can't do
anything until we do the Fast five.
Speaker 6 (03:30):
Would you like to play the fast five?
Speaker 5 (03:33):
You can thirteen fifty five twenty two and go and
see if you can pop that thing you're getting there.
Speaker 2 (03:40):

Speaker 6 (03:44):
Well, jam nacious.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
Of Jonesy and demanders five.
Speaker 5 (03:53):
The Fast five is here. Five questions? Can you go
the way and answer all five questions correctly?
Speaker 2 (03:57):
If you do that question five? Well, when you tw
hundred and fifty.
Speaker 6 (04:00):
Dollars out cash and you've already popped the bottle champagne
shampers his cheer, I'm free king ching ching ching usually
let other people pop the champers and take my own
eyeballs out. Well, you don't want to do yourself an injury.
Remember Ricky Lee called her You know Ricky Lee. Yes,
of course she booked herself in the face with a
champagne bottle.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Really, no bottle, no the cork launching around and.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
Give yourself a serious eye injury. You're gonna be careful.
Karla is in Morabin.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Hi callo, Hello, Hi Hello.
Speaker 8 (04:31):
Question number one for you in the Fast five, which
ac DC song is famous for featuring bagpipes.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
Long Way to the Top, that's the one here.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
It is great story behind that, what is it? But
George Young, producer said, you know what it would be
good in this is some you know some bag pipes,
and bond Scott said, oh yeah, yeah, I was in
a high Land pipe pad. So they went out and
spent four hundred and seventy four on bagpipes, which back
then in nineteen seventy five my three bedroom house and
(05:05):
my rabin for that. So they've got out, bought the
pay pipes, brought them back and bon Scott said, no,
but I was the drummer in.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
The pipe pad. Then did he learn he played them?
My son plays the bagpipes. He hasn't for years.
Speaker 8 (05:18):
He played at school and he hasn't since then, and
I think he regrets not keeping it up because at
the time he thought it's nothing interesting, And now he.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Goes what a quirky habit to have.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
He regret a habit, I mean his skill. He regrets it.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
No. See, people mock it.
Speaker 8 (05:31):
People treat it like the piano accordion. And here I
am mocking the piano accordion. But the bagpipes are so
rousing and so emotional.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
They are.
Speaker 6 (05:39):
Anything you say about the piano, according you can say
to Joe Dolci, okay, does he play.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
The piano according?
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Maybe more irritating.
Speaker 6 (05:48):
Let's play reverse it?
Speaker 2 (05:51):
What song, Karla? Are we playing backwards? That's tricky, that's
very tricky.
Speaker 8 (06:09):
No, No, I'm looking at the answer here, and I
don't think i'd have guessed it either. I know the song,
but I wouldn't know it backwards.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Take a peek behind the scenes. Follow Jonesy and Amanda
on Instagram and Facebook. Jonesy and demandas five.
Speaker 8 (06:29):
We are up to question two and yet another jingle
when we play reverses.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
So you don't like the jingles, you don't like the metaphors?
What do you want?
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Jingles like metaphors?
Speaker 6 (06:41):
Communism? Radio? Hello, comrade, enjoy this. Come on.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
There's going to be a bit of that's going to
be a bit of middle ground between jingle craziness and communism.
I would have thought, but maybe I'm wrong. You went
to films to radio school. I didn't. But Max Roley
teach you about communis radio?
Speaker 6 (07:01):
No, he taught me about entertainment. Meghan's in Penrith.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Hello Meghan, Hello, Hello, We're here to play reverse.
Speaker 6 (07:09):
We just had half a glass of champagne and I'm
on fire. We call it Cabri's Girl, Half a glass
and that's it.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
What song will we playing in reverse? Meghan?
Speaker 10 (07:30):

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yes? It is.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
Meghan.

Africa in the opening match?
Speaker 6 (07:56):

Speaker 8 (07:59):
I Sharon, we scrubbed USA off the list. Is it
Canada or Mexico? Which one is facing Africa South Africa tomorrow?
Speaker 10 (08:07):
It will the Mexico Mexico one.
Speaker 6 (08:10):

Speaker 2 (08:12):

Hello, Donna, Hi guys, Hello Doug Douglas Adams. He's the
author of which science fiction series.

The Hitt Triker's Guide to the Galloy.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
That's the one which brings you to question five.
Speaker 6 (08:48):
Look at Donna.
Speaker 8 (08:49):
Which city will host the next Summer Olympic Games in
twenty twenty eight?
Speaker 6 (09:00):

Gem LA is going to be the home of the
twenty twenty eighth Summer Olympics.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
And they've just released some of the new sports. I
guess like we had what did reagun participate in?
Speaker 6 (09:52):
Break dancing?
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Break dancing? That was what we had at lectured.
Speaker 6 (09:55):
Jim y Rye. Yeah, that's right. Yes, my media tutor
in UNI, she's really cool. Yeah, I don't understand.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Yes, I don't understand the who ha about her.
Speaker 8 (10:05):
We usually celebrate an underdog or someone that takes Australia
to the top of the news in a quirky way,
so I don't know why we didn't do the same
with her.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
I like her anyway.
Speaker 8 (10:15):
So we've had break dancing at the Los Angeles Olympics
as part of the obstacle course. They're introducing a ninja
as part of the modern pentathlon. Sorry, a ninja style
obstacle course. If you want to do a modern pentathlon,
we don't have scrolling, ordering a coffee, walking the dog,
holding a five lit.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Water bottle.
Speaker 8 (10:38):
And trying to stop a screaming baby. That's a modern pentathlon.
But now a ninja style obstacle course.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
Remember the Ninja TV. It's that kind of thing.
Speaker 8 (10:46):
I guess they'll be, you know, flipping across pools and
flymbing up walls.
Speaker 6 (10:52):
Top of Mount Madori armor.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Mount Macdori. That's all I needed is the incentive to
get there.
Speaker 6 (10:59):
Remember when Jim Remember Tim Robards was on it.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
And I think his wife also went on and she.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
Yeah, that's right, and Tim robots Bard's physician came on
the show and said that he would do very well
in Ninja Warrior.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
His physician came.
Speaker 6 (11:13):
His physician came on the show to give him a rap.
Speaker 8 (11:17):
I wonder if when we're watching the Olympics, I'll have
the same sort of commentary we had for Ninja Warrior
because it was very soothing.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Look at the arms pupping, Look at the legs popping.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
He's looking fantastic.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
He's neck and neck with Charlie Robbins as we.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
Hit the halfway points.
Speaker 2 (11:34):
Now all might he.
Speaker 6 (11:36):
Gets up through the hole, he's done to go for.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
He hits it.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
He doesn't.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Oh, I'd watch that. We've come a long way. Do
you remember gather around Ryan? When we were kids, there
was a show called It's a knock.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
We haven't come a long way? That is It's a knockout?
Speaker 5 (11:55):
Yeah, same, It's a knockout was local rotarians taking on
each other a giant cotton body.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Yeah, same thing, the same thing.
Speaker 6 (12:02):
We'll get Look, I'm just typing in now bear with
me on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
In the Royal Family that was the beginning of the
downfall of Prince Edward.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
Yeah, they did that thing. Ye here it is? This
is it? Hits a knockout.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
He means a knockout.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Here we teaching right, Dorman, talk up right here for
the seating themes. What a great chances are making our
rich tourney teams light by.
Speaker 6 (12:25):
Bruis Rave, they look tired sort he's just running out
on the future.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
It's been shouted out by that voice.
Speaker 5 (12:32):
That's Max Rolling my teacher.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
He's up there forming me earlier. He's World Teas and
says they held on them the blue colors.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
Another then the first shot at next week ten times
on the.
Speaker 6 (12:43):
First prize led by Jock Howard John.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Well count of them right through and the other phenomen
part Queens Brandy. Every companism has a fat tide of
teams from the Festival States led by him. Robertson has
struggles to find poor ball season under that critis that's
still fighting on the green ho one go West Western Australia.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
Just stop, please, I want a blasphem coming. It's a
golf cart like like something from speed Racer. Got speed Racer,
See I want to see that at the Olympics.
Speaker 8 (13:21):
Well you probably will. They had parkour last time. It
didn't work out, so they're going ninja. I mean, please,
do it. If you've seen the ancient Greek and Roman
wrestling that put its hands on each other's pants.
Speaker 6 (13:32):
Will you be my Fiona McDonald's to my Billy J. Smith,
Do I have to?
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Thursday is a great day because double a chattery. This
is a man's side hustle. You know, I don't think
it's a side hustle. It's it's one of your many
strings to your bow, your massive boat.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
I do a podcast with my friend Anita McGregor. She's
a forensic psychologist, and we often this is the stuff
We stuff talk about a lot of things when we
go for our weekend and we're both are the mothers
of sons. And my son, who's twenty three, had heard
of a man called Flynn Martin and he's so interesting.
He's twenty three years old himself, and he a couple
(14:13):
of years ago went viral for the worst in the
worst way.
Speaker 8 (14:17):
He was sucked into the manisphere. He took the red pillars,
they say, and he all he listened.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
To was Andrew Taate. You can't even find his old clips.
Speaker 8 (14:28):
There's one in particular where he said he asked whether
it was okay to be a straight white male and.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
The pylon was massive.
Speaker 8 (14:34):
He went viral with that, and all of that was
being taken down. You can't even find it now to
talk about it. He has come out the other side
of that. He said he was depressed, he was drinking,
he was taking alcohol, taking alcohol, taking drugs, and he
was hospitalized and he had a kind of a breakdown,
I guess, And so he had a reset and he
(14:59):
said he went back to he traveled, he spoke to people,
he saw a different worldview. And he's only twenty three
now and he's come out the other side of that
manisphere and has quite an extraordinary story to tell. One
of the things was though that he said that he
went through his high school certificate through COVID. There was
he and all his mates were all stuck at home
(15:20):
and at the same time, all their algorithms changed. He said,
they were watching regular stuff like sport, suddenly everyone's algorithm,
all of his mates, it started to shift.
Speaker 11 (15:31):
It was just all of a sudden there, and that
was just what was being pushed on my ORGITHM And
I can confidently kind of say that because it was
the same for all my friends as well, and they
were all just we like who has anyone seen this
guy that everyone's just seeing all of a sudden, and
I'd presume we'd all have a pretty similar algorithm prior
to that. But it was like every young man was
(15:52):
getting it, and everyone knew what it was, so it
was just a relentless kind of thing.
Speaker 8 (15:59):
He talks about the relentless nature of social media and
the addictive nature of social media. That's one of the
big things, he says, that we have underestimated for this
entire generation.
Speaker 11 (16:10):
I think social media is a huge addiction for a
lot of people, whether they want to admit that or not.
But then when you start actually creating content yourself and
you get there's another study about that little orange icon
of a new follower or a new like or a
new comment. Releases do't for meine in the exact same
way as like having a drug wound. So it's so addicting.
(16:32):
And then when you see it on these like large
scale numbers, I think it really changes people's brain chemistry
and like who they are as a person. You become
addicted to chasing that feeling of getting likes and attention.
But even if you're not creating, just consuming content like
it just you you can consume like a thousand videos
in the space of an hour, and that's just so
(16:54):
much content that just completely floods your brain.
Speaker 8 (16:57):
Anita, in her job as a forensic psychologist, that means
that she works as a psychologist with offenders within the
prison police system. They've transgressed somehow, and she's often said,
you should not define someone by one the worst thing
they've done, by one mistake.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Everyone gets a.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
Chance as if they're a mass murder, well that's different.
Well then society chooses that and prison chooses that.
Speaker 6 (17:20):
But if we're trying to put up an errand postal
or something like that.
Speaker 8 (17:24):
Well, this is the thing, and this is something that
this guy Flynn talks about, is the pylon that we
forget that the heart of a lot of this viral
One person putting up a comment, he was twenty at
the time, put up one a couple of comments that
he really regrets now, but he said that the pylon
was so aggressive it just pushed him back into his
(17:45):
corner and it was out of proportion to the comments
he had made.
Speaker 11 (17:51):
I think people are so quick to forget on the Internet,
especially that people make mistakes, and there's so many elements
of like someone comes out and makes one video and
they get hounded, And I think the backlash that you receive,
no matter how bad it is, like something that you
do obviously within reason, people just appile on and then
(18:12):
everyone wants to get their quick fix of attention, and
it's not really about them actually trying to criticize and help.
It's about them getting attention and more followers and more views.
So I think just if it's really the hardest thing
to do is probably say them and go, hey, why
don't we instead of just completely hating on and further
alienating this person and realistically pushing them further down in
(18:36):
their beliefs and like sending them further down that track,
let's try and educate and.
Speaker 8 (18:42):
Show them some compassion. But also Anita said, he's her
conspiracy theory. Who who is setting up these algorithms? And
to what end is it for disruption? Is it man
versus woman?
Speaker 6 (18:53):
To what must the doing that.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
He said the war would be and what we're seeing
right now, we've got that so called comedian that did
the petrol sniffing thing versus Grace Tame in the in
the in the algorithm, you've got left versus right these
are two young women who are out there at the moment.
And because I'm not going to mention her name because
I don't want to get the algorithm to be boosted more,
(19:16):
but because I clicked on the story because I thought, oh,
what's going on here? And then I thought, oh, hang
on a minute. Now I'm getting all these other parts
of that. So I'm getting this far right stuff on
my phone and I'm getting far left stuff as well
because I click on Grace states.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Most of us are committing. And if we show compassion
on either side and say.
Speaker 6 (19:34):
Right now, compassion, if you show compassion in the internet's world,
you're a big simp. There's something wrong with you.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Well, you know it's interesting too.
Speaker 6 (19:40):
Kind is a terrible thing now, but.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
That's as part of that manners.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
Yeah, that's what I mean.
Speaker 8 (19:45):
And I said to Anita, in light of violence against
women in our society and family violence, what is it.
Why are we saying there's an epidemic of loneliness amongst
young men? And she said she thinks there's an epidemic
of just loneliness in general. Thirty percent of Australians live alone.
It's a loneliness epidemic and yet these men have found
(20:07):
a subculture.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
Yeah, of course because belongings. But it's why guys driving outlaw.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
What a shame.
Speaker 8 (20:13):
There's this horrible negativity, this misogynistic negativity to it. But
it's such an interesting chat and he's such an impressive
young man. Flynn Martin is his name, and he's.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
On all I say to anyone, whatever you post, you're
publishing whatever you post. And when you're the anti Knights
of the world, Australia's most sexually promiscuous woman when she's
fifty six, how is she going to look at herself?
Speaker 8 (20:35):
Well, that's what Flynn said. If he could stop another
young person that's being in the embarrassing situation, he said
that he wants to educate people to say, please, don't
do what I did.
Speaker 6 (20:43):
Check it out, double a chattery. It drops today.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Demanda podcast now by
the miracle of recording, and.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
Amanda and Amanda are two great names.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
I'm not a scatter. That's the chemistry between them, but
how much of that is real?
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Mind your own business and shut your piehole.
Speaker 6 (21:01):
I wish you were with your jow For some reason,
when I send a text to someone. There's a dollar
sign that comes up at the end. What's that all about?
Speaker 2 (21:10):
Someone send us a joint text saying congratulations on your ratings,
and I thought you'd sent back thanks my man, and
a dollar signe.
Speaker 6 (21:17):
I don't know why it's doing that well.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
Line does that? Sometimes it's a question mark and that
can be embarrassing too.
Speaker 6 (21:22):
What about when you send me a text and it's
got that big aubergine in it? What's that about? What's
happening there?
Speaker 5 (21:29):
You're not starting tomorrow the Long Weekend, But in the
radio world in the radio, brand new radio.
Speaker 8 (21:36):
Show, Carsteffanovic and Eddie McGuire on this very station are
going to be doing an afternoon show.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
And they're going to be joining us very soon, just
as a.
Speaker 6 (21:44):
Bit of a warm up. They're out there in their
training gear. They look very nice. The boys are coming
up on Gold Jam.
Speaker 8 (21:51):
How do we introduce these two? Carsteffanovic, Eddie maguire. They've
teamed up for a new show right here on Gold
starting tomorrow. They'll be on before us one till three.
It's called the Long Weekend. I don't have double demerits
are involved. They're right here with us now in the studio, gentlemen, Hello,
I'm too old.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
I'm too old to drive, too tired to drive.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Now, just before we.
Speaker 14 (22:13):
Get started, Carl, I think it's only fair do we
say that, we we bend the knee, we dip the
lids to Jonji and Amanda, who yesterday on the Rain
az absolutely show that this country is big enough and
understands enough and has the jenaes qua to understand that
people can talk about Australia and do a magnificent show
(22:35):
in my hometown of Melbourne.
Speaker 6 (22:37):
Number one in Drive in Sydney.
Speaker 14 (22:39):
You've blown the place to the beasts.
Speaker 6 (22:41):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 14 (22:42):
But I say this with absolute sincerity because the move
from the Breakfast Show where you dominated in Sydney for
so long, into Drive is a significant one and you
have absolutely cleaned up.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
So congratulate.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
We're in a bit of a French term.
Speaker 6 (22:59):
You two to Eah. I just didn't see that on
my bingo card, but I do like it. It's got
a nice Carl and Eddie. It's like Charles and Eddie
that that duo that had a song would I Lie
to you?
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Beab?
Speaker 6 (23:14):
How did how Long you Go?
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Theme?
Speaker 6 (23:15):
Somewhere this could be how long you guys known each
other for.
Speaker 7 (23:20):
Twenty years?
Speaker 14 (23:21):
At least that that's more than that, because in fact,
you know, I was the CEO when Carl was on
the Today Shows?
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Where were you when it was my turn?
Speaker 6 (23:32):
The wrong place of that?
Speaker 14 (23:33):
So you should have got one man, I must have
been I'm missing five six. Yeah, Cal and I have
known each other for years, but we've also been good friends.
That The funny thing about it is Carl and I
have actually been mates over the years. We've been in contact,
we have mutual friends. We've done a lot of things together,
(23:53):
but not on air, and we've always spoken about we
should do a show together. You know, we thought we
should be doing a Tonight show on Channel and very
much along the lines of a national show. So we've
always had this understanding we should be doing this. And
Carl's into politics, I'm into politics. We're both into sport, etcetera, etcetera.
We host a lot of different things. So but that's
always been the starting grand and then this opportunity came
(24:15):
up and we've been doing better for about six months
seven together and I.
Speaker 7 (24:20):
Just knew that working with Eddie, I wouldn't have to
you know, work too hard because Eddie's is going to
take control of the whole.
Speaker 6 (24:26):
Thing, and I can just sit back and just so
you're in the big bow. We're on the sailing mate,
and it's Yin and Yang. It's Carl and Eddie, Eddie
and Carl. No, No, I'm really looking forward to it.
Speaker 7 (24:37):
I love Eddie McGuire like he has been there for
me as a very very dear friend when times have
been really tough. There's no doubt in my mind that
he would call and has when I've gone through difficult periods.
And on top of that, the ability to work with him,
to be able to see how he operates. I'm a
(24:58):
radio l platter and to learn off him and to
be mentored by him is something I'm really looking forward to.
Speaker 14 (25:06):
Guys, can I ask you a question if it would
be so bold, of course, in your own interview, but
tell me about how different it has been to go
from Breakfast to Drive because you've put a lot of
thought in it. And I ran into you, Amanda at
the Loggis and we spoke about this and the change
up for you and the fact that it's this show.
I think it was one of the great things in
(25:27):
life is to refresh something and make it as new again.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
And Jean Cocteaux.
Speaker 14 (25:32):
Actually said about it that that is the difference between
poetry and prose.
Speaker 6 (25:36):
And you guys have been able to do it.
Speaker 14 (25:37):
You've made something new again fresh or old new again
and fresh, and you've really opened up the airwaves of
people listening to Gold of Elm and Drive.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
Nice of you to say so.
Speaker 8 (25:46):
I think that we thought a lot about what a
drive show kind of for us, what it would be.
And I think sometimes life at work can be hard,
and life at home can be hard, homework with kids,
taking kids to sport, just whatever it is. We wanted
to be that bubble between those two things. We wanted
to be a soft place to land, somewhere where you
(26:07):
can loosen your tie, we can sit in the car,
kick off your shoes if you're the passenger, but just
relax a bit more. We kind of wanted to be
a soft had a name and sometimes.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
I said it was kind of the perineum of radio.
I got shouted down at that point.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
I told to go home, but you two, I mean,
it feels like I'm at a dinner party and you
two have broken away to have a private chat in
French the paraneums and.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
Can we talk about motorbikes?
Speaker 5 (26:39):
We're fastting the brains of the operation. You two have
both had many controversies in your life. If you could
swap a controversy, you take one of you take one
of Eddie's controversies.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
And Carl you take one of. Which controversy would you take?
Speaker 14 (26:57):
I think that the more to the point is that
these things happen when you when you're going hard. Now,
you guys understand breakfast radio and television better than anybody,
and sometimes you hit the wall, and sometimes things happen
that you don't even think are happening until have happened,
and then you recover, try to recover from that.
Speaker 6 (27:14):
But it's the actions and the body of work that
I think you look at over the journey.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
So Carl's body right now.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Well he's given us. It looks like Dennis Lily from
the southern end. I didn't mean that.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Well, I'm I'm very excited. I'm happy that you guys
will be our lead up. You will be the lead
up to our show.
Speaker 7 (27:43):
I really don't smash it up, but enjoy no no,
And I said to Jonesy the day I mean because
it is a new fresh thing for me. I've done
a lot of on airtime and so many hours on air.
But I said to Jones in the left, mate, is
there any piece of advice? And he goes just one thing,
one idea per segment.
Speaker 15 (28:01):
And that's it.
Speaker 6 (28:02):
And I was like, get what's the idea? He doesn't
know as opposed to boys this, I can only see
great thing.
Speaker 12 (28:17):
Yeah, be fun.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
The Long Weekend starts tomorrow at midday with no demerits excellent,
I said, one I do.
Speaker 6 (28:24):
I'll be starting at one. We're coming, we should.
Speaker 14 (28:29):
It is starting twelve to three, twelve to three, And
I loved what Amanda said there a moment ago about
the essence of the show, and that's very much what
we want to do. We're not going to come in
and you're not going to have hardcore politics or anything
else going on.
Speaker 6 (28:42):
But we will cover the stories of the day.
Speaker 14 (28:44):
We will have interesting people, will open up our contact books,
will have plenty of sport. We'll be telling you what
you missed during the week and what's coming up over
the weekend.
Speaker 6 (28:52):
So that's basically.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
It's a fest and it doesn't sound like a fest.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
What's it thank you.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
And on that note, the Long Weekend starts tomorrow at
midday here on gold Eddie McGuire, cow Step.
Speaker 6 (29:08):
Ada.
Speaker 14 (29:09):
It's great to be in the presence of Radio Royalty
number one.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Thank you, Jonesy and Amanda cat Shut Up on the
Jonesy and Amanda podcast. Download the free iHeart app.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
It was rettly about a story that's happened in Britain.
Something was stolen from a railway museum.
Speaker 8 (29:28):
There was it's been this little statue that's been there
for years and years and years, and it's of a
little evacue, a little girl, young girl, and she's next
to a statue statue or a figurine of her mother
right to show the story of the evacuees during the war.
And suddenly, well, no one double ignomy she's in evacue.
(29:49):
No one noticed that she had disappeared until someone came
phoned the railway station and said, are you missing your
little statue of that little girl, because she's turned up
on one of our trains holding a beer.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
And so they think that a stag do had taken
the little girl. She hadn't been you know, she was
still in decent order, of course.
Speaker 8 (30:12):
But they found her sitting up the front of the
train holding a can of cider. Some hijinks, some high jinks,
and they said here she'd turned up in a carriage
with a can of cidre in her hand.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
And they said, given her an.
Speaker 8 (30:23):
Eberated state, they put in a wheelchair and delivered her
on the next train. We're glad to have her back,
they said, even if we didn't notice she'd gone. They said,
this is what they've said here, that their mother hadn't
seemed not to have noticed that she disappeared to be
scrolling up playing the pokies, not paying attention.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
A strange thing to Nick.
Speaker 6 (30:44):
Yeah, there's a lot of cool stuff. You got me
a flight center man, mean I need to steal him.
I paid. If you might.
Speaker 5 (30:52):
Remember, flight Setter had a fiberglass flight center man dressed
up in a pilot's.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Uniform, and they changed them over.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
Then some came and said, oh no, no, we don't
want that. It's dated, so they ordered all the flight
center men crushed.
Speaker 11 (31:05):
Believe.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
I found one and paid for it as a joke.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
I kissed it and it tasted like urine because it
had been out the front of the shop next to
a pub.
Speaker 6 (31:15):
I don't think you were. I don't think it's his
first rode.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Can you say he'd been seeing other people and.
Speaker 5 (31:22):
That area of town. I think you were the first
female to kiss it as well. Anyway, a man in uniform,
but that was responsibly sourced.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
It was I didn't steal it to me.
Speaker 6 (31:34):
You don't look like someone that.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
No, no, well, I was on a few.
Speaker 8 (31:39):
I'm still ashamed of this. And it wasn't a big
statue or anything like that. It was a photograph. I'm
still embarrassed. I did it when I one of my
first bend two thousand Troops was with my friend Vanessa.
We're in our twenties and we were doing story. It
might have been on deny fever. I think one of
those days where I'm crouching next to a pond saying,
this is the world's EPPI Center of deny fever, and
I think what am I doing here?
Speaker 2 (32:01):
But we were in the lab and.
Speaker 8 (32:03):
It was an infectious diseases lab and we're going through
a photo album and both Vanessa and I were gobsmacked
at one of the photographs. It was a man who
had a terribly inflated pair of testicles ont of was
two or just one, but it was like you were
sitting on a space hope and.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
It was so extraordinary. We were bored.
Speaker 8 (32:21):
We've been on the road for a month at that time.
We stole the photograph. We stole out of a.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Science lab, out of a folder of scientific information.
Speaker 6 (32:30):
You both stole it.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
We stole it.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
Was it a Don Lane Burt situation.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Six months at mine, six months at hers.
Speaker 8 (32:36):
We'd get it out occasionally while we were still trapping
for that trip and giggle over it.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
But I don't know what's happened to where it was.
Both felt slightly ashamed.
Speaker 6 (32:45):
Well, say you should be.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Have you never stolen anything? What about that story about
your brother and the school bell or did you nick it?
Speaker 9 (32:52):
No?
Speaker 6 (32:52):
I didn't nic it, not me, not our local primary school.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
We haven't a hand dinghy bells that would denote the
children to come into class. Bell is my brother and
he's dope smoking mate went and stole it when they
were about eighteen. And then years and years later, I'm
elbowing him move house and I went, isn't that the
school bell? And he goes, yeah, yeah, And I said
they had an article.
Speaker 6 (33:13):
In the newspaper who stole the school bell, but in
there since the twenties. And he says, yeah, yeah, yeah,
And I said, shouldn't you return it? He goes, now,
I'll get round to it. Then fast forward to twenty thirteen.
I'm on Dancing with the Stars. My star has risen.
The school says, will you come and do a host
ow fiftieth anniversary of one hundred and twentieth anniversary or whatever?
I as sure, and I said, Matt, this is a
(33:35):
perfect opportunity to bring the bell back.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
Wow, so part of the whole thing. I'm in front
of the all the dignitaries, and I said, back in.
Speaker 6 (33:45):
Nineteen eighty seven, these two reprobates stole this school bell,
and now they want to make it right. And then
Matt came through the hall in a bella clava.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Oh you said his name?
Speaker 5 (33:58):
No, I just said someone my brother, Matte. I just said,
the two retrobates, reprobates. He came through, dinging the bell
and did the crowd going nuts. And my brother, who
is not a showman in any.
Speaker 6 (34:11):
Way, goes and just sits back down at his table
and takes the bell of club rack. You could have
walked down a back door. You idiot.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
But was it a big deal that the bell had
been to you know?
Speaker 5 (34:20):
And the cops saw the bright side of it, the
caps I can spray him, I said, give him the
phone book.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
Just the eight O K is my brother, make sure?
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Well, what do we do this? A tribal drum is
going to beat for I can't believe they stole.
Speaker 6 (34:35):
Dot dot dot Yeah, right on Fergus.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
Something unusual and quirky that either you stole or someone
else stolen. You know what the hell happened there?
Speaker 5 (34:43):
And maybe you've got a ginormous pair of testicles and
picture form at home, Gamation Gold.
Speaker 6 (34:50):
Hello there, it's Jonesy Demander driving you home. So a
mannequin went missing from a railway museum in England. It
was part of a display for World War II evacuu ease,
that's right. And there was a little girl Maniquin sitting
next to her mom.
Speaker 8 (35:03):
Yeah, and they didn't know easy had been stolen. And
then the staff got a call from someone at a
train station saying, have you mislaid little Annie? You're a
vacuuie And they said no. I said, well, she just
turned up in a carriage with a can of cider
in a hand, so had taken her put her on
the train.
Speaker 6 (35:20):
The tribal drama is beating four. I can't believe they
stole Anna has joined us?
Speaker 2 (35:29):
Anna? Hello, Hi, how are you very well? How old
are you? Anna? How old are you?
Speaker 13 (35:37):
I'm fourteen?
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Have you stolen something? Anna?
Speaker 6 (35:40):
What are you a cop?
Speaker 2 (35:42):
I have not.
Speaker 13 (35:43):
I had my school get something stolen.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Oh yeah, tell us what happened?
Speaker 13 (35:48):
So about at the start of this year, I would say,
we had our life size statue stolen from outside the
front of our gates.
Speaker 2 (35:57):
Statue of what.
Speaker 10 (36:00):
It was one of our school saints, which saint?
Speaker 14 (36:05):
Uh?
Speaker 13 (36:10):
And it was like fully made of metals?
Speaker 6 (36:12):
A right, someone stolen. They're gonna melt it down. Do
you think we made a precious metal? Have you seen
what bronze is worth these days?
Speaker 2 (36:22):
Wow? And so they haven't replaced it. They haven't. No
one knows what happened.
Speaker 13 (36:26):
Oh no, no one, Well they got I believe on
surveillance someone stealing it fully masked.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Wow, that's a big operation.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
Would have waited time.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
It would have been interesting if it was since Christopher
had got stolen, because this is a Christopher the saint
have lost things. Help me and thank you.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
Thank you. Meek has joined us.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
I make what got stolen?
Speaker 12 (36:50):
So it wasn't something that I style it. Some of
my brother's mates and they stitched him up.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Sure, sure what happened.
Speaker 12 (36:58):
They went around the suburbs and round it up all
these garden gnomes and planted them on my parents' front yard.
Speaker 6 (37:06):
That's great, that is so great.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
And your brother got the blame for that, did he?
Speaker 12 (37:13):
Well? His mate did you much for it? And we're
sort of read faith while all these gnomes are in
our front yard And it was later revealed.
Speaker 13 (37:20):
That it was a prank.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Later revealed it was a prank that they've grown there.
Speaker 6 (37:26):
If you put a garden home in your front yard.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
You're asking for Remember all those stories that they'd go
on overseas trips and send back cards picture themselves outside
the leaning tower.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
I always like seeing in the city when someone gets
a witch's hat on top of a dignitary on a
horse or something.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
That always makes you like, I always think, well, that's
pretty good. Thank you me Sam.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Okay, Sam, what got stolen?
Speaker 9 (37:48):
Our first of all, congratulations on your ratings achievements.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Because of you, Sam, you very much.
Speaker 6 (37:54):
Specifically it's because of you oh, thanks, Yeah, I do
my best and we appreciate it. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (38:01):
So this is something that my friend and I stole
back in the mid nineties when we were in high school.
We had computer class, and for some reason we thought
it would be a fantastic idea to steal about eight
of the balls from the computer mouses. I think you
call them that. I think they're computer miized, yes, and
so I feel kind of bad about it now because
(38:21):
it was a state school, so they probably couldn't afford
to do technology.
Speaker 6 (38:26):
But yes, we took the mouse so you could do
any work.
Speaker 8 (38:29):
Now, and what did you do with them? Have you
still got them? I think now you're too ashamed to
get them out and look at them, make a necklace
of them.
Speaker 9 (38:35):
We took them home, but when we got home, I
got a frantic call from my friends saying school's wrong,
asking if we know anything about the mouse ball, because
they saw a sitting where the mouse was, so we
had we had to say, oh no, we didn't even
know they had like balls in there.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
They wouldn't have done that, of course you wouldn't.
Speaker 5 (38:53):
And is your friend cave? It sounds like she was
the one that was going to just roll over and
rat your all so nothing you never.
Speaker 9 (38:59):
Returned to We were too scared to me in case
he got caught.
Speaker 6 (39:04):
I'd like to see the scholastic scores of the school
of that that plan. I would like to see that
plan that particular.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
It's just something you sometimes think about in the early
hours of Sam.
Speaker 9 (39:17):
Yes, I was actually thinking about it driving to work,
because I'm actually a teacher now about it driving to
work the other day and I was thinking to myself,
I do feel.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Bad about that.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
Well, I hope you feel better, my child. If only
had a big statue of a saint.
Speaker 6 (39:31):
What if one of the kids says I couldn't do
my homework because there's a mass ball missing.
Speaker 9 (39:35):
Miss, Well, we don't have mouthballs anymore, do we.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
You've got me, Sam, Thank you for sharing. I hope
you feel a little bit better.
Speaker 6 (39:45):
A mannequin's gone missing from a railway museum in England.
It was part of a display for World War II evacuees,
a little.
Speaker 2 (39:52):
Girl mannequin sitting next to her supposed mum mannequin. No
one noticed the ignomy of a little girl going missing
until someone's are you missing? Annie? A little awful? Annie?
I said, no, it was just turned up in our
train with the.
Speaker 6 (40:06):
S a can of stagnite. We're looking at you anyway,
the tribal drummers beating. I can't believe they stole elenor
has joined.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
Us hi eleanor what got nicked?
Speaker 10 (40:19):
Hey, guys, I had a life sized fiberglass cow at
the front of my property. So this beautiful, big black
and white preciating cow, and I came home one afternoon
and it was gone.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Oh that makes me unhappy because I would have loved
because Amanda Elena has a life size zebra. I do.
Speaker 8 (40:37):
I've got a big zebra in my backyard and I
love that stuff. But it's my backyard. That's the risk
you take. Any idea where it went, well, No.
Speaker 10 (40:46):
My funny law says that there's actually an Instagram page
where people post where they steal large objects and put
them in bizarre places. So I've had a look on there,
but no avail. And I went on Facebook and people
thought it was actually a real cow, so they were
telling me to go to the sockers or the farmyards
(41:08):
and then and then I've got all these jokes about
it running off with the cash cow or on to
other green of pastres. But yeah, my cow's gone.
Speaker 6 (41:17):
How long has it been gone? For Eleanor?
Speaker 10 (41:19):
It's been gone for three months? And I and I
didn't call the police because I thought, you know what,
they're tied up with a.
Speaker 6 (41:25):
Little bit called the poppers on this one.
Speaker 10 (41:29):
And tell them my cow got stolen. Yeah, I think
I'm a bloody looney.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
No, no, that's a big deal. I would be very.
Speaker 6 (41:38):
Out for that cow. Yeah, jumped over the moon helping.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
I'm not sorry.
Speaker 6 (41:44):
I feel for you because I take this seriously.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
I would take that very seriously.
Speaker 5 (41:48):
Forget about your MACHETI gang's cops go and get Eleanor's cow.
Speaker 6 (41:52):
Thank you. Peter's joined us.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Hello Peter, what got stolen?
Speaker 3 (41:56):
Congratulations on the war spot.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
Thank you, Pete. We appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
Going back a while, I used to be a sergeant
in a British Army and we were stationed in Germany
for a while when the Cold War was on and
we were working out of the barracks and old German
World War II barracks called vocal Zang, and it had
a lot of sort of Germanic memorability around the place,
one of which was this war and there was a
naked bloke carved into the wall with like some sort
(42:24):
of wrapped around, you know, a sort of shawl on
him or something like that. Anyway, a good friend of
mine called Dave Swan residing in Mobley in the UK,
has that blokes testicles has a bit of a paperweight.
Speaker 6 (42:40):
So he took them away.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
He sliced them off the sculpture.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
He wanted up there with a hammer and something or other.
And yeah, he chipped them off and they're on his
mantel piece.
Speaker 6 (42:50):
This wasn't a spur of the moment cry and this
is something he put a bit of thought it. It
was premeditating.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
You better believe it. Yeah, he thought it through.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
I like named him and told us hilarious. He doesn't
have a cow because you got a can. Thank you, Peter,
I love that.
Speaker 6 (43:05):
Thank you for all of course.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Amanda podcast.
Speaker 11 (43:12):
Yeah, it's something a request for them to do it again.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Should lay off the moonshine a man, it's so weak.
Speaker 6 (43:26):
Good afternoon to you.
Speaker 5 (43:27):
While you were powdering your nose, Amanda. Why Ryan and
I were talking about his soccer win on the weekend.
Ryan likes to play with his little soccer side.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
And with my Windle soccer side.
Speaker 6 (43:38):
We know that he won. But tell Amanda how much
you won?
Speaker 9 (43:42):
Buy?
Speaker 6 (43:43):
We won nine nil? You know, why don't you tell
us that that's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
I'm interested. When you are winning, say eight nil, do
you take your foot off off the gas because you
feel for them?
Speaker 15 (43:55):
No, you want to keep scoring because our competition, in
particular is very close. So gold differ might play a
key role in deciding who goes into the finals, because.
Speaker 6 (44:06):
Surely you would have sealed the deal by being nine nil. Yeah,
I reckon. Hopefully I scored as well. Did you did
you read that?
Speaker 2 (44:14):
Unusual?
Speaker 15 (44:15):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (44:15):
Yes, yes, quite rare. And what about out on the field?
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Okay, that's amazing. Have you seen that story? It's beginning.
Speaker 6 (44:23):
He got his nine nil, should get something for it.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
The NRLs story. There was a small boy who's gone
viral for his tearful fire.
Speaker 6 (44:32):
This is West Tigers and Tigers.
Speaker 2 (44:35):
Fan and a few weeks ago went viral. It went viral.
Speaker 8 (44:38):
This poor little boy bawling his eyes out because his
team had lost, and the Tigers beautifully said, come along,
we're going to make a big deal of you, and
we take on Penrith this weekend.
Speaker 6 (44:46):
What was it sixty? So it was like fifty eight
to nil.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
Yes, that poor little boy. We'll make you feel better.
What's just lose big time?
Speaker 6 (44:55):
You've seen losses? Well, my old team was crying. Would
you like a lemonade?
Speaker 2 (45:03):
She speaking of soccer. The fifth of World Cup is
upon us. I think it all kicks off too.
Speaker 6 (45:08):
Who you're rotten for Australia. Obviously outside of the.
Speaker 8 (45:11):
Soccer, people are tipping Norway. I think the Norwegians look amazing.
Let's talk about some of the quirkiest stuff around the
World Cup.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
We'll do it next.
Speaker 6 (45:18):
Yeah, I've organized fireworks out the window.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
Nice.
Speaker 6 (45:22):
I like it and now I'm filming it and I'm
going to post it on my Instagram and no one
will look.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
At Shall we just do the radio show? Also while
we're here, Okay, listen to it. The World Cup is
about to kick off. It's been hosted in the US,
but there are actually three host countries, America, Mexico and Canada. Interesting.
Speaker 8 (45:41):
I'm just looking at some of the stats around it
and the history of the World Cup. It began in
nineteen thirty Only eight countries have ever won it.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
Let's have a look. Brazil has won five times, Germany
and Italy four times each, Argentina has won three times,
France and Uruguay have each won twice than Spain have
each one once.
Speaker 6 (46:02):
I know a bit about the round ball.
Speaker 5 (46:04):
I've seen the whole series of ted Lasso, and I'm
going to watch the next series, so I'm well familiar
with the game. I will say this though, after watching
ted Lasso, I really got into soccer. And then I
actually watched the game of soccer. I went, well, it's
not like Ted Lassner.
Speaker 8 (46:17):
The highlights will do me. The highlights of anything will
do me. But it's been There's been a lot of
exciting stuff building around it. And there's a downside too
that we will talk about. But some of the stuff
I've really loved is looking at the tourists that have
turned up and the German tourists who are loving waffle house.
They're in Alabama or something and they go to the
(46:38):
waffle house. Germany is the home of waffles and they're going,
how great to this waffle house.
Speaker 6 (46:42):
But Americans, with their food, they do add a certain
waffle to it.
Speaker 8 (46:48):
Well, the German tourists I saw were thrilled with what
they had in waffle house. There was a psychic corgy
I saw who was batting a ball into various baskets.
The psychic corg he has predicted that Australia will win
the group.
Speaker 9 (47:03):
D R.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
Ryan, you know soccer is or football?
Speaker 6 (47:06):
Do you don't ask me because I've seen Ted last?
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Is this likely?
Speaker 6 (47:10):
Yeah? I think to win it probably not likely, but
we should get through the group.
Speaker 2 (47:15):
Okay, all right, well that's exciting.
Speaker 6 (47:16):
I can't told you that.
Speaker 8 (47:17):
I saw a mathematician talking the other DA. I'm just
going to ignore Jonesy. I saw a mathematician the other
day saying that, and he apparently has predicted the winner
for the last four World Cups. He's suggesting Norway is
going to win, and gee, I hope they do. They
look incredible. Have a look at the team photo they
took here. They are posing as Vikings.
Speaker 6 (47:36):
Oh my god, look at how sexy is that Emsworth.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
It's Hemsworth fest all posing as Vikings with the shields
and the whole thing.
Speaker 8 (47:45):
They look incredible. They've brought all their own food. This
is what the the there as I said, tip to
win by many of the punters, so they aren't relying
on American food when they're on their tour. Here yep,
three hundred thet three hundred kilograms of fish orangers one
hundred and sixteen kilograms of traditional Norwegian cheese has been shipped.
(48:06):
Are our Norwegian chef is traveling with the team. They
want to keep the team as regular in every level
of the world.
Speaker 6 (48:12):
The Norwegians will almost eat bait, what you call bait,
they'll eat.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
Yeah, but that's what's obviously going to fuel them for
all of this. I love their chance.
Speaker 8 (48:21):
So not only is the team dressed up as Vikings.
If you've ever seen the fans in the crowd their chance,
they lean forward and back as if they're rowing a
Viking ship.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
And this is the amazing art they have, very stirring,
so good.
Speaker 8 (48:44):
You know what I'm going to compare that too, is
the American soccer chant, which goes a bit like.
Speaker 15 (48:50):
This because we.
Speaker 5 (48:55):
Like it.
Speaker 15 (48:56):
We like it.
Speaker 6 (49:00):
Yeah, it's not so catchy. What a word, that's grunty.
I'll give you that.
Speaker 8 (49:06):
Having said that, lots of excitement around this event, some
negativity as well, and we'll talk about that and we
might put some of it to the pub test next.
Speaker 9 (49:16):
Jamais the pub test.
Speaker 11 (49:18):
Top test does not past the pub test.
Speaker 6 (49:20):
Hub Test tests past the pub test test. The pub
test doesn't pass the sniff test. Stop it. It's not
he When there are big issues to be discussed, we
go down to the Jonesy, no matter of arms of
the pub test. And on a Friday, Junior or Thursday,
it's always good to be Danny today. World Cup. So
we would you go to the US for You've got
to say which which chant you like best? You've got
(49:41):
the Nordics or the Americans?
Speaker 8 (49:47):
Like, Yeah, one sounds like a high school. The other
one sounds highly attractive. I saw just a fleeting glance.
I have the numbers wrong. Something like ten thousand Australians
have gone to the States to watch the World Cup?
Speaker 2 (50:05):
Would you go? In light of some of the negativity
some of the stories that are coming out.
Speaker 6 (50:09):
Of is that true though? Is there a lot of Well?
Speaker 8 (50:12):
FIFA themselves, from what I'm reading here, has urged some
players players participating in the World Cup in the States
to considering a bulletproof vest beneath their jerseys. Commons since update, well,
the Iranians haven't been allowed in and as someone said,
your daily reminder that even Hitler's Germany didn't prevent athletes
and officials from taking part in the nineteen.
Speaker 6 (50:31):
Th Owens, but were allowed in. A lot of people of.
Speaker 8 (50:38):
Dark complexions have been turned away. So this is what's happened.
It's already mind in controversy in the States. Blatant discrimination
respected young refuge ref refugee referee from Somalia was detained
and deported back to Somalia. Canada have said, come come
to Canada and they've made him a giant hero. Teams
(51:00):
have been subjected to invasive strip searchers on the tarmac.
National squads are having their ticket allotments revoked. The Uranium
team was banned from even staying overnight on US soil.
A lot of punters just going to watch are subjected
to ice raids, and not just that, the cost of
the tickets. They've got something called dynamic costing. Dynamic what's
dynamic pricing. Some of the tickets are up to ten
(51:22):
thousand dollars. Some people are you know, people are being
priced out of going to watch these things. So some
people are saying, from what I'm reading, I don't think
it's worth it. Because some people save their whole lives
to go with their their mates, their partners, their families
to watch the World Cup this year with it being
in the States and this sort of situation happening in
the cost of it, would you want to go?
Speaker 6 (51:44):
It sounds interesting. I don't think i'd invest money to
go because I'm not really a big soccer of it.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
But if you were, say, you say you had the
money to go, sure, would you Yeah?
Speaker 6 (51:51):
I think I go? Yeah, jam, I right, you'd go? Yeah,
I'd go.
Speaker 2 (51:55):
That's because where wide Australians and it's probably easy for us.
Speaker 6 (51:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, would you go? That's what I'm just
trying to think how many Donald Trump jokes have made
in money.
Speaker 2 (52:03):
That's the thing.
Speaker 8 (52:04):
I'm still haunted by the fact that Kelly Holloway was
he was not allowed to Internet.
Speaker 6 (52:10):
Missus and all those terrible things about Trump they have,
but let me say stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (52:15):
They haven't said to him that that's why. And he's
banned because his girlfriend said stuff that's no. Seriously, there's
no rules. There are no rules. It's completely arbitrary.
Speaker 6 (52:27):
But that's whether you get in or not. That's the
old saying when in Rome, you to do what the
Romans do and whatever country you go to.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
That but his girlfriend made those posts. He did and
they haven't even said that. But my point is how
terrifying you don't know what they.
Speaker 6 (52:40):
Choose back to the whole when in Rome do well?
Speaker 2 (52:43):
The whole world is that? So do you chose choose
to visit it right now? That's what we're asking visiting
the World Cup in the States. For this World Cup?
Does it pass the pub.
Speaker 6 (52:50):
We'd love to hear from you. Thirteen fifty five twenty
two on gold.
Speaker 1 (52:54):

that question if time permits. If you get all the
questions right, one thousand dollars.
Speaker 8 (53:13):
You can make it two thousand dollars by answering a
bonus question. But as we say, it's double or not.
Speaker 6 (53:18):
You looked incredibly learned there when you had the pin
pen to your chin.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
Have I drawn on myself at right end?
Speaker 5 (53:24):
That's when you don't look learned. Hailey is in Tacoma.
Hello there, Hailey, Hello, I mean you're not in a coma.
Speaker 6 (53:31):
You're in Tacoma. How are you you?
Speaker 3 (53:34):

Speaker 2 (53:53):

ask about Brendon.
Speaker 6 (53:56):
I don't think Hailey has any notes for me.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
Hailey.
Speaker 8 (53:59):
Let's if and get you some money. We've got ten
questions sixty seconds. Do you say pass if you're not

Speaker 1 (54:58):
Gemitation, the pub Test, top Test does the pup test,
hub testest.
Speaker 6 (55:05):
The top Test doesn't pass the sniff test. Stop it.
It's not I like soccer. I like the round ball game.
I watched Ted Lasso and I really enjoyed it, and
then I liked it so much. I don't watch the
game of soccer and tell you it's not as dramatic as.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
What you're saying. Is not as quick and the whole
game and there can be almost half a goal.
Speaker 6 (55:25):
That has got sexy Rebecca in it.
Speaker 8 (55:27):
Well, this before single ball has even been kicked. At
the fift World Cup in the States, there's already controversy.
A respected young referee was detained and deported to Somalia.
Canada said bring him here, we will love him. National
squads are having their ticket allocatements allotments revoked. It seems
if you're dark skinned sometimes you're finding your tickets mean nothing.
(55:48):
Players as well as punters are being turned back, are
being stripped searched. It's the tickets are incredibly expensive.
Speaker 6 (55:56):
See Mexico will put up a big wall of defense.
Speaker 2 (56:00):
Well let's see what you think.
Speaker 8 (56:01):
Would you go to the World Cup in the US?
Visiting this World Cup at the US right now? Does
it pass the pub test?
Speaker 16 (56:10):
Asked the pub test?
Speaker 13 (56:11):
And may I've been in the States several times.
Speaker 12 (56:13):
Any opportunity I've got to go the States.
Speaker 6 (56:15):
I'd love it for any reason. So American people are lovely.
I think the ones we get in Australia a bout,
but the ones over there are good. So yeah, give
me the States anytime.
Speaker 2 (56:25):
No, it does not.
Speaker 1 (56:26):
The teams and the players and even the referees.
Speaker 9 (56:30):
I'm an even playing field to start with, automatically becomes
an unfair competition.
Speaker 12 (56:36):
You know, a true football fan would worry.
Speaker 10 (56:38):
What a fair competition?
Speaker 3 (56:40):
I think, No, not to do it.
Speaker 10 (56:42):
It's supposed to be.
Speaker 9 (56:42):
The Mocos is good, person will beautiful to see.
Speaker 11 (56:45):
What you want.
Speaker 16 (56:47):
I've been to the first two NURL openers in Vegas,
did not go this year. I've got friends in the
States that wanted to go to World Cups of the
Games this year and we decided on the whole it
wasn't worth it.
Speaker 6 (57:00):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
Interesting.
Speaker 8 (57:01):
I bet there'll be a lot of bleary eyed people
Australia place for the first time Sunday afternoon against to And.
Speaker 5 (57:06):

Norway chant vikings, they do rowing and drinking out of horns, pillage, pillage.
