Today on the Jonesy & Amanda Podcast: Amanda shares an update on beloved dog Mini and the frustrations of fitness trackers during difficult times. The team tackles a hilarious round of Fast Five, debates the most "un-Australian" behaviours, and gets stuck into a surprisingly divisive water cooler question: would you rather accidentally send nudes to your boss or your parents?

Plus, Jonesy reveals his latest obsession with week-by-week collectable models, the team uncovers the story of a 179-year-old sourdough starter still being shared around the world, and one lucky listener wins an unforgettable VIP Icehouse experience on Sydney Harbour.

The highlight of the show is a very special Friday Feels Session with ARIA Hall of Fame inductees Vika & Linda, who join Jonesy and Amanda to talk about their remarkable career, new album Where Do You Come From, and perform a stunning acoustic version of their classic hit "When Will You Fall For Me."

Also in this episode:

  • Fast Five
  • Icehouse Golden Ticket winner announced
  • Social Media Feedback with Jenna

Everybody online.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Everybody online.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
The Jonesy and Amanda Show.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
Gorgeous Amanda.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Mistress Amanda is delivering discipline.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
It hurts, but someone's got to do it.

Speaker 5 (00:17):
Bad Amanda, bad, bad Amanda. Am I going to see Jonesy?

Speaker 6 (00:21):
And the virile Jonesy.

Speaker 7 (00:23):
What a creep.

Speaker 6 (00:23):
I've heard them describe him as a drunken idiot.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Stay in school and learn in school.

Speaker 5 (00:28):
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 6 (00:29):
Out of the way, Dobie.

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Jonesy and Amanda, those are names that you will never forget.

Speaker 8 (00:33):
It's showtime.

Speaker 6 (00:35):
Good afternoon to you, Amanda. Happy Friday.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Happy Friday.

Speaker 6 (00:38):
Fri-yay.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
September 11, which of course comes with all those connotations
of horror.

Speaker 8 (00:43):
Does indeed.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
It's Chris Brown's birthday today.

Speaker 6 (00:45):
Something good comes out of it.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Not the rapper, the beloved Bondivet.

Speaker 9 (00:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
And living room compatriot.

Speaker 6 (00:53):
How old is Brownie?

Speaker 3 (00:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (00:55):
He's in his 40s.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I went to his 40th and I don't know how
many years ago that was.

Speaker 10 (01:00):
I reckon he's about 45, 45, 46, maybe 47.

Speaker 6 (01:04):
He's at the Italian Dolomites as we speak.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Are they in Italy, the Dolomites?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:09):
My sister, ironically, just came back from there.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
The photos look incredible on Instagram.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
She was walking up to 20km a day.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
I had a friend who recently went to Machu Picchu
and travelled all through South America and did 20,000 steps
a day. She got home and her watch says to her, oh,
you're not keeping up with your daily steps. She goes,
she's yelling at her, what do you think? What do
you think?

Speaker 6 (01:32):
Listen.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Listen.

Speaker 6 (01:33):
Listen, Fitbit.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (01:36):
Machu Picchu.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, I'm not going to do that every day.

Speaker 10 (01:39):
That's outrageous. There's nothing worse than this telemetry you've got now.

Speaker 6 (01:44):
I've got a Fitbit.

Speaker 10 (01:45):
There's nothing worse than when the battery runs out and
you've done all this exercise and it says you've been
under training lately.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Well, I had one last week. Minnie is still here,
fingers crossed. She still is. And she's doing okay. Well,
you know.

Speaker 6 (01:58):
Yeah, of course.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Better than she was last week, to be honest.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
As good as she can do.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
But I don't walk far with her, but for about
four days there, we didn't even do that. And my
watch says, your daily steps have changed.

Speaker 11 (02:07):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Let me explain to you the nature of me pre-grieving
my dog.

Speaker 6 (02:12):
And this is the technology we buy for ourselves.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
We choose to buy into it, and then I rant.

Speaker 10 (02:16):
It's akin to getting that Sergeant Major from Officer and
a Gentleman.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah, to push my own face.

Speaker 4 (02:21):
Come on, Mayo.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Why don't you push my own face in the mud?

Speaker 6 (02:24):
Friday is a great show because we've got the Friday
Field Sessions. I'm excited. We broke this news yesterday. No bull.
The Bull Sisters are on our show.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Vicar and Linda, I'm very excited.

Speaker 6 (02:34):
You know what's been on my head all day?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Tell me.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
Why don't you come to your senses?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
We'll get them to sing that.

Speaker 6 (02:39):
When you fall for me.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Who sings that?

Speaker 6 (02:42):
You know what, I know you're doing your thing.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
I know.

Speaker 6 (02:44):
I'll complete the joke for you.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Who sings that?

Speaker 6 (02:45):
The Ball Sisters.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Let's keep it that way.

Speaker 6 (02:48):
Also, Instagram makes its return.

Speaker 10 (02:50):
We've got some more Ice House tickets to give away,
our golden ticket, and we can't do anything until we
do the Fast Five.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Give us a call, why don't you?

Speaker 5 (02:58):
135522.

Speaker 8 (02:58):
On gold.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Damnation. Let's do it.

Speaker 6 (02:59):
How fast can.

Speaker 11 (03:01):
This thing go?

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Faster than the speed of light.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Jonesy and Amanda.

Speaker 9 (03:07):
Stop.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
The Fast Five is here. Five questions. Can you go
all the way and answer all five questions correctly? If
you do that, Amanda will say.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Your last chance this week, a $ 250 Bevels jewellery gift voucher.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
Woo-hoo-hoo!

Speaker 12 (03:18):
Woo-hoo-hoo!

Speaker 6 (03:19):
Joseph is in Bentley.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Hi, Joseph.

Speaker 13 (03:22):
Hi, guys.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Do you fight with your electronics, your watch, your Fitbit,
those things?

Speaker 11 (03:29):
Yes, definitely. Yeah, I know.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
It's very annoying.

Speaker 6 (03:31):
Yeah, and especially when it underquotes what you're doing.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Or I'm sitting on the radio and it says stand
up and I go, why don't you stand up?

Speaker 6 (03:38):
Yeah, what are you sitting on the radio for?

Speaker 5 (03:40):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
I like the vibes.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
That's why Joseph's here.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Here's question one for you, Joseph. What colour is the
Australian passport?

Speaker 12 (03:48):
Navy blue.

Speaker 8 (03:49):
Yes, it is.

Speaker 6 (03:49):
Oh, very good. Let's play Monster Mash.

Speaker 8 (03:52):
Let's kick off this Monster Mash.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Joseph, we have mashed together two songs. Can you tell
us what they are?

Speaker 8 (04:00):
I'd like to make myself free.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
The planet Earth turns salty.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
It's hard to say that I'd rather stay.

Speaker 8 (04:11):
Awake when I'm asleep.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
Whoa. Young.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
Joseph, do you know? That's terrible.

Speaker 13 (04:19):
Eye of the Tiger and Firefly.

Speaker 9 (04:21):
Wow.

Speaker 8 (04:22):
I'd like to make myself free.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
Man, Joseph, how did you do that?

Speaker 3 (04:30):
It gave me the effect of, you know, when you're
driving and one of the windows is down a bit?

Speaker 9 (04:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (04:35):
I don't know how you did that, Joseph. That's extraordinary.
What an amazing ear you have, Joseph.

Speaker 11 (04:41):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (04:42):
You can send us a picture if you'd like.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I was hoping Joseph would say pardon.

Speaker 14 (04:46):
Italy.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
Sorry, no, it's not. No, it's not in Italy.

Speaker 14 (04:48):
Uh-huh.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Joseph.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Farewell, Joseph, and your amazing bat-like ears.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
It's been on social media lately. People are skiing down
this particular street.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Really?

Speaker 6 (05:12):
If that gives you any clues.

Speaker 10 (05:21):
We had Joseph of Bentley, Western Australia, just before.

Speaker 6 (05:24):
Now we have Marion of Bentley in Victoria.

Speaker 8 (05:26):
Are you?

Speaker 6 (05:27):
Oh, okay. All the Bentleys.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Hello, Marion.

Speaker 11 (05:30):
Hello, how are you?

Speaker 5 (05:31):
Great.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Very well, thank you. You've come in for question three.
There's two options left. Where in the world would you
find the world's steepest street? We've ruled out Italy. Is
it New Zealand or is it Switzerland?

Speaker 13 (05:41):
I'd guess New Zealand.

Speaker 11 (05:42):
It is.

Speaker 10 (05:43):
Well, have you seen on social media, there's a kid,
he gets on the skis and there's a little bit
of a light dusting of snow on this particular street.

Speaker 6 (05:50):
It's Baldwin Street in Dunedin. And he goes scooching down
the street on these skis.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
What about the streets of San Francisco? Remember that TV show,
Very Steep Streets?

Speaker 6 (06:00):
The streets of San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
You could ski into a cable car.

Speaker 6 (06:03):
With old mate bum nose. Remember he had a.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Carl Malden. And also a very young and handsome Michael Douglas.

Speaker 6 (06:09):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
No bum nose there.

Speaker 10 (06:12):
Guess the movie from the bad plot description. A romance
unfolds between an 18-year-old girl, a 100-year-old guy and a dog.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
What movie is that, Marion?

Speaker 13 (06:27):
An 18-year-old girl, a 100-year-old guy and a dog.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Sorry, Marion.

Speaker 9 (06:33):
Marion.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Jenny's with us.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Hello, Jenny.

Speaker 13 (06:36):
Hey, how are you?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
So this movie obviously is not normally sold like this,
but here's a strange plot description of it.

Speaker 6 (06:43):
I thought we'd have some sort of introduction for this, right?

Speaker 9 (06:46):
Nah.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Couldn't be bothered? A romance unfolds between an 18-year-old girl,
a 100-year-old guy and a dog. What's the movie?

Speaker 1 (06:56):
It's Twilight.

Speaker 6 (06:57):
You know it.

Speaker 10 (06:59):
Is that a segment that you would like to see
us continue on the Jonesy and Amanda experience there, Jenny?

Speaker 6 (07:03):
What would you call it? Well, we could make an intro.
We could spend some money.

Speaker 13 (07:07):
Yeah, that would be good.

Speaker 6 (07:10):
Okay. Ryan, you heard the lady.

Speaker 11 (07:12):
All right.

Speaker 6 (07:12):
We want an intro by next week.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
And we are now at question five, Jenny. Here it
comes for you. What are the first names of the
Bull Sisters?

Speaker 13 (07:21):
Vika and Linda Bull.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
That's it.

Speaker 6 (07:23):
They're on our show today doing the Friday Fields Sessions. Jenny,
are you excited?

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Yes, I am.

Speaker 6 (07:28):
Jenny, congratulations to you.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
I think you're leading the witness, Brendan.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
Jenny, do you love me?

Speaker 12 (07:36):
Yes, I do.

Speaker 6 (07:37):
Of course you do.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
Jenny, tap twice on the phone if you're doing this
under duress.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
Jenny's not doing it under duress. Jenny is doing it.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
Just read her the prize, Brendan.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
Do you love Amanda?

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Just read the prize.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Thank you, Jenny. This is getting uncomfortable now.

Speaker 10 (07:51):
You said don't make it uncomfortable. Let's squish around in
this for a bit. Congratulations, Jenny. You've won the jam pack,
a $ 250 Bevels jewellery gift voucher. Don't miss Bevels' iconic
diamond rush sale, Saturday, 12th of September.

Speaker 6 (08:05):
Jenny, congratulations you.

Speaker 14 (08:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Thanks, Jenny.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Have a great weekend.

Speaker 11 (08:11):
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (08:11):
And if you, like Jenny, would like to register for
the Fast Five or any of the other stuff on
our show, jonesyandamanda.com.au.

Speaker 6 (08:19):
On goal.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
See a whole lot more of Jonesy and Amanda on
our socials.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
Jonesy and Amanda.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Speaker 6 (08:27):
There's a lot of things in this land that make
me unhappy. What about you? Is there things that make
you unhappy?

Speaker 3 (08:32):
Well, obviously, but I try not to dwell on them.

Speaker 10 (08:34):
And there's been a list that's come out that I've
noticed across my desk.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
Signs you're a bottom-tier member of society.

Speaker 3 (08:41):
Did someone leave that for you?

Speaker 6 (08:43):
No, not for me, no. Are you a bottom-tier?

Speaker 10 (08:44):
Because I was looking at this list and I'm pretty
much okay on this list.

Speaker 3 (08:50):
Meaning you don't do these things?

Speaker 5 (08:52):
Mm-hmm.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
Mm-hmm.

Speaker 10 (08:53):
Signs you're a bottom-tier member of society or, as I
would like to say, that's un-Australian.

Speaker 11 (08:59):
Sing it.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Crying.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Hey, True Blue. Come on, Ozzy, come on.

Speaker 8 (09:04):
When a nasty ball sees a knife.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
We can tangaroos and omen cows.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
I can feel a poor egg coming on.

Speaker 8 (09:09):
I feel like a police.

Speaker 6 (09:13):
You're taking a bow or feeding a cow.

Speaker 8 (09:15):
Is it a cockatoo?

Speaker 6 (09:16):
Matter of fact, I got it now.

Speaker 8 (09:19):
All the way, Dobby.

Speaker 6 (09:20):
Stop.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
Stop.

Speaker 10 (09:22):
Anyone that doesn't like that intro is un-Australian.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
It makes me so angry.

Speaker 6 (09:28):
Okay. What have you got? Signs are a bottom tier
member of society slash.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Slash un-Australian.

Speaker 6 (09:34):
Littery.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Do people still litter?

Speaker 6 (09:36):
I hope not. I hope not. I hope not.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
I don't know if people still litter.

Speaker 6 (09:40):
I used to litter a lot when I was younger.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Did you?

Speaker 4 (09:42):
I did.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
I did. But I've seen the error of my words.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Give me an example of the biggest thing you threw out.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
Chucking all junk out of the car when I'm driving along.

Speaker 14 (09:49):
Really?

Speaker 6 (09:49):
Yeah, when I was a youngster.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
Do you throw an apple core out the window?

Speaker 6 (09:52):
I wouldn't now, but in the old days, easily.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Even something biodegradable like an apple core?

Speaker 8 (09:57):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
What about an apple computer?

Speaker 6 (10:01):
No, well, I don't litter now. And what I do
now is I go and pick other people's litter up.

Speaker 8 (10:05):
Do you?

Speaker 6 (10:05):
Yeah, I've become that guy.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Because I wonder, since COVID, I don't like picking up
tissues and stuff like that from other people and other
people's stuff. Do you do that?

Speaker 10 (10:14):
No, I wouldn't pick up a tissue, but I pick
up bottles and things. And then go straight down, return
and earn.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
What else is on your list?

Speaker 6 (10:22):
Cutting in line. I never cut in line.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
No, I never.

Speaker 6 (10:25):
That is un-Australian.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
And it's embarrassing when someone says, come on, no, just
come over here.

Speaker 8 (10:29):
I'll help.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
I'll serve you, whatever.

Speaker 5 (10:31):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
It's embarrassing if you're encouraged to cut a line. Other
people think you've pushed in.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
Parking in a handicapped spot when you don't need one.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Who would do that?

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Who would do that?

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Do you, Brendan?

Speaker 13 (10:40):
No.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
I never would do that.

Speaker 6 (10:42):
Carving your name into or graffiti nature.

Speaker 13 (10:45):
No.

Speaker 9 (10:46):
Never.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Have you ever carved your name into a tree?

Speaker 6 (10:48):
I did many years ago.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
How many years?

Speaker 6 (10:51):
Oh, many, many, many years ago.

Speaker 8 (10:52):
Oh, that's terrible.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
Yeah, I just wrote BJ in a tree.

Speaker 8 (10:56):
Oh, no.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
But I was young, playing music from a phone speaker
in public.

Speaker 4 (11:05):
No.

Speaker 6 (11:05):
Wearing pyjamas to the airport.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Who does that?

Speaker 6 (11:08):
That's outrageous.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
Imagine if your pilot did it.

Speaker 10 (11:11):
I'm never flying Jetstar again. What about this one? Not
returning your shopping cart. That's un-Australian.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
What about if, say, you found a chicken in a
shopping cart?

Speaker 6 (11:21):
And it had been left by some poor soul.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Who just was coming back from their car and going, oops,
I left the chicken there. I'll go and grab it.

Speaker 6 (11:28):
No, no, they've gone.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
And they went there. Who would steal a chicken?

Speaker 6 (11:31):
They have long gone.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Who would steal a cooked chicken and feed it to
their family?

Speaker 6 (11:34):
The chicken. It was all I kept. Well, it had
been in the.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
It was.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
It was.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
At the back of the shopping trolley.

Speaker 10 (11:41):
I took my shopping trolley back, and I think that
was the universe thanking me.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
For being Australian.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
How do you know it hadn't gone off?

Speaker 6 (11:50):
Because I looked at the timestamp, and it said cooked
at 11.20.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
And what time did you find it?

Speaker 6 (11:55):
I found it at exactly 11.40.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Oh.

Speaker 10 (11:58):
So 20 minutes, but it was still piping hot, and
it was in a sealed bag. So it hadn't been
compromised in any way.

Speaker 6 (12:05):
After 20 minutes, I wouldn't do it. It was well
within the parameters. 20 minutes is fine.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
How do you know?

Speaker 6 (12:10):
If it was like a day later, there's no way.

Speaker 8 (12:12):
A day?

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Who would leave it a day?

Speaker 6 (12:14):
What I mean is it would have sat there in
the trolley.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
About an hour.

Speaker 6 (12:17):
I reckon an hour would be okay. Yeah, it would
be okay. I am very mindful of food hygiene. And
I took it home and fed it to my family.
And you took it home. Food wastage. That's un-Australian.

Speaker 8 (12:31):
Crikey!

Speaker 15 (12:32):
They're taking a bow or feeding a cow.

Speaker 8 (12:36):
As a matter of fact, I got it now.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
Out of the way, Dobie!

Speaker 4 (12:41):
No. Now that chicken's been 10 years.

Speaker 8 (12:47):
That took so long.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
During COVID.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Did you make sourdough from the starter and do things
like that?

Speaker 6 (13:02):
Nope.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Did your wife?

Speaker 6 (13:03):
Nope. No, no interest in that. I didn't even brew
my own beer.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
My son went through a phase of making kombucha at home.
Remember that? Did you see that? It was a giant
jar that sat on the side of the bench. And
I could see it was just gone off. And he
kept emailing the man who said, no, keep going, keep going.
And then six months later he said, no, that's off.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
Chuck it all out.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
But all that sourdough starter thing. Remember Sarah, who used
to work with us?

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Our newsreader. And she had this old recipe. Remember that?
Where you then got some of that cake or something.

Speaker 6 (13:33):
Yeah, and you passed it on to someone else.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
And you bake it and then you pass it to
someone else and it goes like that.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
Yeah, largely someone you don't like. It's like a chain letter.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
It's a bit like a chain letter. You kind of
feel a little bit anxious about it because you don't
want to stuff up this long, continuous line. But what
about this? There's a well-documented sourdough starter known as Carl
Griffith's Oregon Trail sourdough starter that started in 1847 that
is still going.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Yeah, incredible, isn't it? The starter that rode west in
a covered wagon in 1847 still rises or raises bread
today by strangers. I like this. Strangers who never met
the man who carried it. Well, duh, I wasn't going
to be on the Oregon Trail and meet him. So
he kept the culture alive for 70 years. He inherited
it as a boy in Oregon in 1930. Yeah. He

(14:25):
died in 2000, and a volunteer group formed to maintain
the sourdough starter, and they've been mailing out over 100,000
starters to bakers worldwide for free.

Speaker 6 (14:36):
So it's just a blob of sourdough, and they pick
bits of it. Is that right?

Speaker 3 (14:40):
No, I think the starter... Actually, how does a starter work?
I don't even know.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
I think it's- Because it could be anything.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
It's the fermenting yeast?

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
I'm not sure. But we're going to put these details
on our socials because thousands of bakers around the world,
as I said, have asked for this, for a portion
of the sourdough starter to keep the tradition going and
volunteers send it out to you from Oregon.

Speaker 6 (15:03):
Yeah, right.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Amazing.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
I mean, you know, you started a culture in the
same socks you've been wearing since 1974. I don't see
anyone lining up to keep that going, do you?

Speaker 6 (15:13):
I'm going to pass them on to you.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
It would be like ether.

Speaker 6 (15:19):
Why don't you start something?

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Well, if we use your socks, we can make a
shoe pastry. Let's end this with a pun.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
I don't know what's worse.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Amanda Podcast. Hello there,
my friend.

Speaker 9 (15:32):
How are you?

Speaker 6 (15:33):
I'm well, and you?

Speaker 1 (15:33):
I am a little disturbed.

Speaker 15 (15:34):
I was walking past the client experience team, which used
to be radio sales, and you know how we.

Speaker 8 (15:38):
Do, water cooler chat, largely from the content that they
provide us.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
Yeah, they put it on a whiteboard and each week
they all contribute to.

Speaker 6 (16:03):
What they think. Today is an interesting pickle.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
And have you seen it?

Speaker 4 (16:08):
No.

Speaker 6 (16:09):
I'll run this past you. It's a very interesting pickle.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Okay. Do you like pickles?

Speaker 10 (16:15):
It's a situation that I don't know if I'd want
to be involved in.

Speaker 6 (16:19):
I'll just say that to you.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Is it a maths class?

Speaker 9 (16:22):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
Next to a maths class. I'd rather be in a
maths class.

Speaker 10 (16:25):
I'd certainly rather be seeing Ice House on the steps
of the Sydney Opera House at the Fleet Steps there.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
That's right, the Fleet Steps. This is going to be
the prize of a lifetime. You get to see the band.
You get to be there for the sound check. You
get great accommodation on the harbour. You will have VIP seats.
It'll be amazing.

Speaker 10 (16:45):
Yep, Jonesy's hot tip while they're doing the sound check,
you raid their backstage rider because they're all on stage
and security just lets you wander around anywhere.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
Still have big backstage riders. I think these days most
bands have like Tetley T and that's about it.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
And a free iron.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
So there's that. So we'll ring a gold-class VIP. That's
coming up.

Speaker 10 (17:07):
And coming up next, I saw some great stuff that
I want to buy from TV. You know my piece-by-piece things?

Speaker 3 (17:13):
This isn't one of those slicer dices.

Speaker 9 (17:15):
No.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Remember when we bought those and sliced our fingers off?

Speaker 6 (17:17):
By the way, have you seen that single omelette-making thing?

Speaker 3 (17:20):
No, Brendan. That's the most ludicrous thing. I have seen
the ads, and I've seen you looking at the ads. No,
I forbid it.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
Oh, God, now it's forbidden?

Speaker 3 (17:28):
What a piece of kitchen junk makes one... Individual omelette.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
Well, I'll try and change your mind on my next
proposed purchase.

Speaker 16 (17:36):
All right.

Speaker 10 (17:37):
That's coming up on Gold. I like those week-by-week magazines.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
Like, wasn't there a Lancaster bomber you were buying?

Speaker 6 (17:45):
Yeah, the Lancaster bomber. The legendary Dam Buster bomber.

Speaker 15 (17:48):
Build the Lancaster B Mark III in magnificent 1 to
32 scale with die-cast metal parts, stunning details, working lights,
accurate sounds, and remote-controlled motion with a unique display stand.
Week by week, recreate this historic aircraft and discover the
story of the Lancaster.

Speaker 10 (18:03):
Week by week, we worked out it was going to
cost $ 3, 000.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
One to 32 scale, that's going to be big, isn't it?

Speaker 6 (18:10):
It'll be big. It'll be a big bomber.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Would that be like the size of a car?

Speaker 6 (18:14):
No, no.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
One to 32 big.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
The wingspan would be my arm span.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
That's big.

Speaker 6 (18:20):
Thank you. So they get you in it.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
Can I ask you this?

Speaker 6 (18:24):
It's like when you get onto ice, it starts off small.

Speaker 3 (18:27):
Your gateway drug. But if it's that big, what arrives?
You can't just go and buy small bits in the mail.

Speaker 11 (18:33):
No, no.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
So you go to your newsagent. And you get a
copy of the magazine.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
But how many bits would you need to make something
that big?

Speaker 10 (18:40):
Well, it can go for a long time. Hence the
small print. And then there was the build your own Batmobile.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
Do you remember that?

Speaker 3 (18:46):
No, I don't, Brenda.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Week by week, build a unique replica with die-cast parts.

Speaker 6 (18:50):
Follow step-by-step instructions and bring the Batman legend to life.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Die-cast. So that's metal.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
See, it's good value.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
But how do you get metal in a magazine?

Speaker 6 (18:59):
It's in the magazine. How is this possible?

Speaker 3 (19:02):
How are you not understanding this? I know, but I
just remember bits of balsa wood that you'd get to
build things.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
Balsa wood?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
How big are these magazine packets?

Speaker 6 (19:10):
Building your own Wright Brothers flyer?

Speaker 14 (19:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (19:12):
Okay, the latest one that popped up while I was
watching Outback Truckers was this.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
Fast and furious.

Speaker 15 (19:21):
Build an authentic Dodge Charger RT.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
At newsagents now for only 99p.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Fanhome.com. What's the scale?

Speaker 10 (19:30):
That one you could build Dom's Charger, RT Charger. You
know the black car?

Speaker 3 (19:34):
No, I've never watched it.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
Oh, come on.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
I've never watched it. I know what a Charger is.

Speaker 6 (19:38):
Didn't we interview him, Vin Diesel?

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:41):
Well, you had to see the movie.

Speaker 9 (19:42):
No, I didn't.

Speaker 6 (19:44):
Anyway, you can build that one. So that's 99p, which
is pretty reasonable. What's that? What's that?

Speaker 5 (19:49):
99p.

Speaker 6 (19:50):
If you put the sterling versus Aussie dollar.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
It is $ 1. 86.

Speaker 6 (19:54):
Oh, that's all right.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
That's pretty cheap. How big's the car?

Speaker 6 (19:59):
It's about as big as a bread box. All right.
So how much is that? $ 2 by $ 200. Well, it's $ 186.
So you said $ 2, right?

Speaker 16 (20:04):
$ 2.

Speaker 3 (20:05):
So $ 2.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Oh, hang on.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
$ 200.

Speaker 6 (20:09):
No, but I'm looking. No.

Speaker 10 (20:11):
So then after you buy the first magazine, the magazine
goes up to $ 10.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
So the first one's $ 1.

Speaker 4 (20:17):
86.

Speaker 11 (20:18):
Is $ 1.

Speaker 4 (20:18):
86.

Speaker 6 (20:18):
And then it goes up to $ 10.

Speaker 11 (20:18):
10 pounds.

Speaker 6 (20:19):
Do you want me to look up how much 10
pounds is? What's 10 pounds?

Speaker 4 (20:21):
$ 18. 78.

Speaker 6 (20:21):
Oh, we could have done that.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (20:23):
How embarrassing for us both.

Speaker 9 (20:24):
$ 18. 78.

Speaker 10 (20:24):
So that would be $ 2, 000.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
$ 2, 000. For the next one.

Speaker 6 (20:39):
I hope you get a pink slip off Dom.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
So have you been forbidden?

Speaker 6 (20:44):
I've been forbidden.

Speaker 5 (20:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (20:45):
Remember the Doctor Who Dalek? The ultimate Doctor Who monster,
the Dalek.

Speaker 15 (20:49):
Own a piece of television history with this officially licensed
one-to-two scale model of the Time War Dalek.

Speaker 6 (20:54):
Look at this guy. It moves and features lights and sounds. One-to-two?

Speaker 8 (20:58):
Extra, baby.

Speaker 15 (20:58):
Week by week, follow step-by-step instructions to build your own
iconic monster and delve into the terrifying world of the Dalek.
Issue 1-199.

Speaker 6 (21:06):
That guy didn't have to ask his wife or girlfriend, though.

Speaker 10 (21:11):
Here at our radio station, we have lots of things.
And back when I started in radio, you had your
radio DJ, you had your traffic department. That's not car traffic,
that's ad traffic. Then you had the sales team, you
had the news department.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
And you'd have a marketing team who would make stickers.

Speaker 10 (21:27):
Yeah, that's right, the stickers department. So now they've got
all these word salad names. Traffic Radio traffic is advertising
sales and something or other.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
And I think sales is now word salad. I think
that's actually the Department of Word Salad.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
It's called the Client Experience Team.

Speaker 10 (21:42):
But every week they put up on their little whiteboard
next to their pie charts.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
They put up kind of a would you rather. And
we walked past and we thought, why don't we make
this an on-air segment? Let's nick it. Let's nick it.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Because if you steal from us, you no doubt have
stolen twice.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
Quite true.

Speaker 10 (21:55):
But what we're very good at doing is getting a
great intro for it, which we've done, and we've called it.

Speaker 8 (22:02):
Water cooler chat. Water cooler chat.

Speaker 10 (22:08):
Now it's time for water cooler chat.

Speaker 6 (22:11):
Gather round.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Maybe this segment should be would you rather have that
intro or not?

Speaker 10 (22:16):
I know that you like no bells and whistles. I
like anti-bells and anti-whistles. You're like off mic.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
I want people to be in a library and I'll
go shush.

Speaker 10 (22:27):
You want long-winded chat breaks and Yeah, I do. Poor
microphone technique.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Yeah, and we'd just sit around and talk about our
book clubs.

Speaker 6 (22:34):
That's what I'd like.

Speaker 10 (22:34):
I actually would like it. I, on the other hand,
like to make money and I like food.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Oh.

Speaker 10 (22:39):
So today's Water Cooler Chat, and this is something that
I looked at and I went, oh, my goodness, this
is a prickly pear. Would you rather accidentally send nudes
to your boss or your parents?

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Oh.

Speaker 10 (22:54):
So you've taken sexy nudes of yourself. Do you send
that to your boss? Or do you send it to
your parents?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
You make it sound like you have to choose one.

Speaker 6 (23:06):
Well, you do have to choose one.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Yeah, but do you send it to your parents? No,
you've accidentally done it. If you had to, you've accidentally
sent it out to your parents or your boss, which
would you prefer?

Speaker 6 (23:17):
And you can't say.

Speaker 10 (23:18):
I don't take nudes of myself.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
This is going to be open-hearted as far as this goes.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
And open other things.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
Yep. So you're into this?

Speaker 3 (23:26):
This is interesting and intriguing.

Speaker 6 (23:27):
And you're meaning to send it to your partner, but
instead it gets lost.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
It's intriguing because this is being spoken about in a
workplace and it's on a whiteboard in a workplace where
their actual bosses are looking. I want to send it
to you.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
Just answer the question.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (23:45):
You go first. Gemma, am I right? You've sent nudes
to me many times. But he's not even your boss.

Speaker 10 (23:50):
When you've had a few strong bros, I would say.

Speaker 14 (23:52):
Well, I was going to say, yeah, Jones, you like
to claim that you're my boss. So I'm trying to
imagine sending a nude to you would be just mortifying.

Speaker 8 (23:59):
Or to your parents.

Speaker 6 (24:00):
It would make you jealous, to be honest.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
That's what I'm sure.

Speaker 14 (24:02):
So, yeah, to my parents. Probably to my parents, I think.
Because they've seen me naked.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
As an adult?

Speaker 6 (24:08):
Not as an adult.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
Are you a nudie-roodie family?

Speaker 6 (24:10):
No, we're not a family of nudists.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Or the dad does like to... Ice bath?

Speaker 14 (24:15):
Yeah, he goes in the ice bath.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
Brendan, how about you?

Speaker 10 (24:19):
I think I'd rather send nudes to my mum only
because she doesn't check her phone.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
So there's a good chance I could hack the system.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
That's not the true spirit of this game.

Speaker 6 (24:29):
No, but she doesn't look at texts. I don't text Brendan.
You can call me. Well, you could always do an
artist's impression and send it over. I'm just hacking the system.
What about you with young art?

Speaker 3 (24:39):
I think my 92-year-old father, horrendous.

Speaker 9 (24:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
But that's a one-off where you go, that was awful,
rather than sending to a boss who you see every day.
I don't know. I guess I'd rather parents than boss.

Speaker 6 (24:52):
Okay. Well, we have our answers.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Oh, that's a hard one. I feel exhausted.

Speaker 6 (24:55):
This is very hard.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
It's very difficult.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
Join us around the water cooler, won't you?

Speaker 8 (24:59):
Here it is.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
Would you rather accidentally send nudes to your boss or
your parents?

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Gold.

Speaker 10 (25:10):
It's Jonesy and Amanda driving you home. Friday is as
good a day as any to gather round the water
cooler for.

Speaker 7 (25:17):
Studies have shown that more information gets passed through water
cooler gossip than through official numbers.

Speaker 10 (25:32):
This radio network's client experience team, formerly known as Radio Sales...
has a Would You Rather segment. And they've got their
whiteboard in their little office there.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Yeah, and we sort of all contribute to the Would
You Rathers, but we thought we'd steal that idea for
us and ask you guys to contribute. This is a
hairy one today on every level.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
It is.

Speaker 10 (25:52):
Would you rather accidentally send nudes to your boss or
your parents? I've said I'd rather send it to my
mother because.

Speaker 6 (25:59):
In our own words, I don't take texts. I don't
do texts. I know she's not going to say it.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
Well, she might get a carer or someone to open
the phone and have a look. Oh, look, it's a
message from your son.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Oh, she's got that naughty nurse as well.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
Ryan has decided he'd rather his parents saw it all.

Speaker 14 (26:16):
Yeah, because, Janesy, you claim you're my boss, so it
would mean I'd have to send it to you.

Speaker 10 (26:19):
How does that differ from any other weekend when you've
bum-dialed me with your bum?

Speaker 3 (26:24):
I've chosen parents because I just think work is just
too mortifying. Let's see what you think. Hello, Jake in Adelaide.
Over to you. Would you rather... Accidentally send nudes to
your boss or to your parents?

Speaker 12 (26:36):
There is no way I would want my parents to
see me nude, but my boss, I'm like, you know what?
We can go through HR.

Speaker 13 (26:43):
No one will be able to talk about it.

Speaker 12 (26:44):
I think it'll be okay.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
Using the wheels.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
You've thought this through.

Speaker 6 (26:49):
The wheels of bureaucracy.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
Yes, okay.

Speaker 6 (26:51):
Jake.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Thank you, Jake.

Speaker 6 (26:52):
Smart kid. Seb in Bankstown.

Speaker 3 (26:55):
Over to you, Seb. Would you rather accidentally send nudes
to your boss or your parents?

Speaker 12 (27:00):
I'd have to say my parents because, I mean, they've
already seen me naked, given not as a 46-year-old male,
but I would probably rather my parents, yeah.

Speaker 6 (27:11):
It's a bit of a shock, isn't it, really, when
you look at it?

Speaker 3 (27:13):
I wonder if it's easier for men than women. Let's
see what Rachel in Bendigo thinks. Rachel, boss or parents?

Speaker 17 (27:20):
Look, both are mortifying, to be honest, but I'd say
boss because I could always resign.

Speaker 6 (27:25):
I can't resign from the family.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Oh, see, that's clever, too.

Speaker 6 (27:27):
Unless you're in the mafia.

Speaker 9 (27:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Yeah, or the Yakuza.

Speaker 6 (27:31):
Thank you, Rachel. Thank you, Rachel.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
Maybe she is.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
Peter's in Claremont.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Hello, Peter.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
Over to you.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Would you rather send nudes to your boss or your parents?

Speaker 11 (27:38):
I'm thinking the boss.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
You'd rather the boss?

Speaker 11 (27:42):
Yeah, it's a power move.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Oh.

Speaker 6 (27:45):
So, Peter, you're saying this because you've got quite the package?

Speaker 4 (27:48):
Yes.

Speaker 11 (27:50):
Look, we'll let the boss decide once they see the photos.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
We'll see if you turn up at work on Monday
or Monday.

Speaker 11 (27:56):
All right.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
Thank you, Peter. And Boris, we'll wrap it up with you. Boris,
would you rather send them to your boss or your parents?

Speaker 13 (28:03):
Oh, it has to be the boss. It has to
be the boss. I mean, I know his response already.
He will be like, Boris, it's Sam, not Sarah. You've
sent it to the wrong place. That's his absolute answer
every time it's happened before.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
How intriguing, Boris. It's happened before.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
You've sent it to the wrong place.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Every weekend.

Speaker 14 (28:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Time and time again.

Speaker 9 (28:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:26):
Well, thank you, everybody.

Speaker 10 (28:27):
Because it could be a bit of a thirst trap
thing as well. You know, you sent a little sexy
picture of yourself to the head honcho here.

Speaker 6 (28:35):
Next minute. Sacked. I was going to say you got
some more do-re-mi in your paper.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
Oh, as if.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
Thank you for being part of... Water cooler chat. Cooler, Chad.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
Indeed.

Speaker 10 (28:57):
We go to our exclusive Ice House Gold Class Lounge
and we select someone.

Speaker 6 (29:01):
That's coming up on Gold.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
Jam Nation.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
Gold. It's Jonesy and Amanda. Or maybe we should get
DJ Ivor to do the big back announce.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
Coming up to seven o'clock here and the sun's rising.

Speaker 11 (29:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (29:13):
I'm about to go home. You've been listening to the
late night shift. Yeah. And if I'm dreaming, don't wake
me tonight.

Speaker 9 (29:18):
Hey.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
Good morning. You're on the air. Hello.

Speaker 9 (29:20):
Do you mind if I wake you tonight?

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Do I? Is that a request?

Speaker 8 (29:25):
Beep, beep, beep.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Can you play Crazy for me?

Speaker 11 (29:30):
Yeah, all right.

Speaker 4 (29:32):
All right.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
I'll just say this. The voice never matches. I'll just
say that.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
His or hers, you're saying?

Speaker 5 (29:39):
His.

Speaker 8 (29:40):
Saying?

Speaker 11 (29:40):
His or hers.

Speaker 6 (29:42):
I'll just say that, okay?

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Well, why don't we say what we are actually doing?

Speaker 6 (29:45):
That's a lesson to young DJs out there because it's time.

Speaker 11 (29:48):

bought all the tickets and did the stuff.

Yeah, don't tell your husband that you won it. Yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 8 (31:12):
Exactly.

Speaker 6 (31:13):
You worked very hard.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
You have indeed.

Speaker 8 (31:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
This is great. Lisa, congratulations.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Jonesy and Amanda.

Speaker 13 (31:53):
Amanda, she just cracks me up.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Maybe we should lay off the moonshine.

Speaker 13 (31:57):
Jonesy's always knocking Amanda.

Speaker 6 (31:58):
It's so weak.

Speaker 13 (31:59):
Amanda's always knocking Jonesy.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
I'm done.

Speaker 10 (32:03):
Friday, the Friday field sessions are going strength to strength.

Speaker 6 (32:08):
What about Anthony Kalia last week? He was just fantastic.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
He was, wasn't he?

Speaker 6 (32:12):
And today.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
I'm excited.

Speaker 10 (32:14):
We are so excited to have these ladies in. You
know Vicar and Linda Bull. They've got a new album
out at the moment. It's Where Do You Come From?
This is the title track of the album.

Speaker 14 (32:25):
Nobody looks like you.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Where do you come from?

Speaker 8 (32:30):
Where do you come from?

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Where do you come from?

Speaker 6 (32:36):
They've got that. And then That's How I Pray.

Speaker 8 (32:39):
I like. From the worries. Wash away my sins Done
being sorry I'm ready.

Speaker 6 (32:52):
To fall It's a female Paul Kelly going on there.
Do you feel that? The voices are so beautiful.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Take me away Over and under.

Speaker 10 (33:06):
The way Now, those girls, and of course the Black
Soros chained to the wheel.

Speaker 8 (33:12):
I got you.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
But also, When Will You Fall For Me?

Speaker 8 (33:26):
That's my favourite. I love this song.

Speaker 9 (33:28):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
Do you think we can talk them into doing that one?
I want to hear that song.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
As long as I can do BVs.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
What's a BV?

Speaker 6 (33:48):
Backing vocals.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Could you do it so far back that you're not
actually in the room? Vicar and Linda Bull have been
mesmerising audiences for more than three decades. And this year,
their incredible career was honoured with an induction into the
ARIA Hall of Fame as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations.
On top of that, They are mid-tour. They've been wowing

(34:10):
audiences everywhere from Swan Hill to Ravenswood. But today they
have pressed pause on their tour so they can join
us right here, right now. Vicar and Linda, hello.

Speaker 7 (34:19):
Hello.

Speaker 8 (34:20):
Hello.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
Hi.

Speaker 6 (34:21):
Look at you guys.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
Look at the two of you. I've always loved you
and I've loved the way you harmonise. I know you
first started singing, I think, was it with your mum
in church? Is all your family musical?

Speaker 4 (34:35):
Well.

Speaker 17 (34:36):
Yes and no. Mum is a singer. She taught us
how to sing, Amanda. We did go to church a lot.
Our father made us go so we could listen to
the church, the Tongan sing, which is how we learnt.
And our father is just a big fan of music.

Speaker 6 (34:49):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (34:50):
So did you stop going to church when you learnt
how to sing or is that still a big.

Speaker 6 (34:54):
Part of your life?

Speaker 3 (34:55):
Oh yeah, we did stop.

Speaker 9 (34:57):
We don't go as much as we did when we
were children, but we've had no formal singing lessons or
any formal musical education knows, just by ear.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Wow, I find that amazing. And you have performed for
some of the world's most famous people. I was looking
at the list here. Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama. What's that
like having people like that in your audience?

Speaker 17 (35:17):
Oh, it's very humbling.

Speaker 9 (35:21):
You can't help but think what they've been through. You know,
the incredible legacy they leave on the world and their
presence is quite amazing.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
You can feel it. It's palpable.

Speaker 9 (35:32):
Like, especially the Dalai Lama. He was like sunshine in
the room.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
He sure was.

Speaker 9 (35:36):
And Nelson Mandela was incredibly gracious, very tall and very slender.
And he stood between us and he said, I am
a thorn between two roses.

Speaker 3 (35:45):
He was beautiful. That's a new charmer.

Speaker 6 (35:49):
And did they ask for any requests?

Speaker 4 (35:52):
No. Oh.

Speaker 6 (35:56):
Can you play K-San or something like that?

Speaker 8 (35:58):
Jailbreak.

Speaker 6 (35:59):
Jailbreak.

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Yeah, maybe. Maybe absolutely jailbreak.

Speaker 6 (36:02):
For Nelson?

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Oh, no. No, they didn't do that. Look, you've got
a new album, Where Do You Come From? And you've
described it as a deeply personal album. Why is that?

Speaker 17 (36:18):
Well, We've written songs from life experience, really.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
It's the first record.

Speaker 17 (36:23):
We've written since Princess Taboo. So we've sort of really
gone deep in the songwriting on this record and It
all started with Linda writing a song with Mark Seymour
about her being a single mother and being a touring mother,
especially a musician, and having to leave your kids when
you go off on the road. And it was a
very personal story. And then from there I wanted to

(36:46):
write a song with Mark Seymour too because I wanted
to have a songwriting credit on the record.

Speaker 11 (36:49):
Of course.

Speaker 6 (36:50):
Yes.

Speaker 17 (36:50):
So I wrote Where Do You Come From? And then
Linda and Mark– uh we all got got together and
created that song and then and it's all just from
very personal experience yeah that most of the album is
about it's about birth death and everything in between.

Speaker 10 (37:08):
And so who comes so you write the songs and
then you write the lyrics is that is that how it.

Speaker 9 (37:13):
Works it's a real collaboration jonesy and amanda it's and
we like that we've always done that um So we
write from, we probably come up with the melody first.
We respond to melody and then we try to get
the words to slot it in. But with Where Do
You Come From, Vika wrote the lyrics first, other way around.
So there's no real, we don't have a method. It
is just a feeling thing. Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
And do you still do those sisterly things like throw
a hairbrush at each other and complain when you borrow
each other's clothes?

Speaker 11 (37:39):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Oh, yeah, we do, Amanda.

Speaker 17 (37:43):
It's like, you know, we have our moments, put.

Speaker 6 (37:45):
It that way.

Speaker 4 (37:46):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (37:47):
Well, don't have one of those moments now because on
the Friday field sessions, we're going to take a break
and then you two will come back.

Speaker 6 (37:53):
What sort of accompaniment will you have?

Speaker 17 (37:56):
We are with our beautiful guitar player, Ben Edgar. He
plays the stompbox and the guitar.

Speaker 6 (38:00):
Oh, there you go.

Speaker 17 (38:01):
Yeah, and he also, he mixed our record and he
played guitar. He did all the guitar and all the tracks.
So he's a wonderful musician.

Speaker 10 (38:10):
Okay, well, what we'll do is we'll take a break
and then we'll come back with the.

Speaker 6 (38:14):
Bulls sisters on Friday Fields Sessions.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
Can't wait. Can't wait.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
See a whole lot more of Jonesy and Amanda on
our socials. Jonesy and Amanda. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Speaker 10 (38:24):
The Friday Feels Sessions. And in our breakout room, it's
Vicar and Linda Bull. And we've got a bit of
a crowd as well.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
Hello, guys. Hello. And we've got Ben as well with
the guitar and the stomp box.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
And the stomp box. And what are you going to
be singing?

Speaker 17 (38:45):
We're going to do When Will You Fall For Me,
which was a song we released last in 1994 with
Mark Seymour wrote this song for us when we went
solo after we left the Black Sorrows.

Speaker 6 (38:56):
Good. You know, there's a lot of questions in your songs.
You know, where do you come from? When were you forthmen?
What are you, cops?

Speaker 11 (39:03):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 3 (39:06):
We like songs that have lots of Ws in them
as well.

Speaker 6 (39:09):
What's with you women and all these questions?

Speaker 11 (39:12):
Sorry.

Speaker 10 (39:13):
Anyway, without any further ado, give it up, Friday Field Sessions,
Vicar and Linda on gold.

Speaker 3 (39:29):

Speaker 2 (39:30):
You, darling?

Speaker 8 (39:31):
Gonna save you when you fall.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
Before they come to take you down, take a picture
of the wall.

Speaker 8 (39:45):
Who's gonna wait until you're strong?

Speaker 5 (39:48):
I hope it's not too long Let me know if
you're alone before I come to.

Speaker 8 (39:54):
Take you home.

Speaker 5 (39:56):
When will you come to your senses? When will you
fall for me? Oh yeah, the truth is in the telling,
darling Every love has got to learn Oh, I remember
every word you said What's left I will return Cause

(40:23):
if you tell me one more lie My love will
slowly die Let me know if you're alone Before I
come to take you home When will you come to
your senses?

Speaker 8 (40:37):
When will you fall for me?

Speaker 5 (40:43):
Sooner or later, darling, your eyes will open to the sun.
You're gonna have to face the morning. There'll be nowhere
else to run. Let me wait until you're strong.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
I hope it's not too long.

Speaker 5 (41:05):
Let me know when you're alone before I come to
take you home. When will you come to your senses?
When will you follow me? When will you come to
your senses?

Speaker 8 (41:25):
When will you follow me?

Speaker 2 (41:31):
My love, you can't deny it.

Speaker 8 (41:36):
You won't know until you try it So give.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
It air, let it breathe Let it burn like.

Speaker 8 (41:47):
A fire.

Speaker 5 (41:49):
I can't contain my desire So.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
Give it air, let it breathe.

Speaker 8 (41:57):
When will you come to your senses? When will you
follow me to your senses?

Speaker 5 (42:04):
To your senses When will you come to your senses?

Speaker 8 (42:10):
When will you follow me to your senses?

John, what are you trying to do to us?

Speaker 3 (45:16):
You and your best crack have given us a bit.

Speaker 8 (45:18):
Of a heart attack.

Speaker 6 (45:19):
We saw your best crack and it was very impressive.

Speaker 3 (45:21):
And it was pretty impressive.

Speaker 11 (45:22):
Taking it to the wire.

Speaker 3 (45:23):
You certainly did. Well, John, we have some discussing to do.

Speaker 6 (45:28):
Yeah, we got the bonus question.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
We got the bonus question. So here's how it goes.
You could take $ 1, 000.

Speaker 5 (45:32):
Brilliant.

Go and enjoy it. Or you could try for $ 2, 000.
I have a bonus question in front of me here.
You have six seconds to answer it. But if you
get it wrong, you get nothing. Get it right, $ 2, 000.
Get it wrong, get nothing.

Speaker 11 (45:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
Jonesy, time for the pants.

Speaker 6 (45:53):
Well, John.

Speaker 11 (45:53):
I was going to say you might need the pants.

Speaker 6 (45:55):
I'll put the pants on for you, John. I'm directing
them west towards you across the fruited plains. We've seen
your best crack. Get a load of this. John.

Speaker 11 (46:10):
Had you seen all of my cracks, though?

Speaker 6 (46:12):
You did very well there, John. You did very well.
But I will say this.

Speaker 10 (46:15):
You came home under a wet sail, if I can
use any more metaphors.

Speaker 6 (46:18):
Meaning what?

Speaker 8 (46:19):
Meaning stability.

Speaker 6 (46:20):
I reckon John would get this. I reckon he would.

Speaker 3 (46:22):
John, John, it is not for us.

Speaker 6 (46:23):
I reckon you would get this.

Speaker 3 (46:24):
It's not for us to speculate. It's not for us
to think whether you would or not.

Speaker 6 (46:27):
That's me saying that. But bearing in mind, if you
get it wrong, John, you get nothing.

Speaker 11 (46:34):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
Um.

Speaker 11 (46:37):
I have a feeling that it'd be more exciting for
the listeners if I give it a crack.

Speaker 3 (46:47):
Good on you, John.

Speaker 6 (46:48):
That's the way, John.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
Good on you, John.

Speaker 6 (46:50):
Now, let's just be perfectly clear here, John.

Speaker 3 (46:52):
You're doing this for you, okay? Not for Jonesy, not
for the listeners. I'm doing it for you.

Speaker 6 (46:56):
Not for the pants.

Speaker 3 (46:57):
We have a question here. You have six seconds to
answer this question. You got the buzzer there, Ryan? Six seconds.
Get it right. $ 2, 000.

Speaker 11 (47:07):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
Fire away. Here we go. In the TV show Friends,
what's the name of the coffee shop where they hang out?

Speaker 11 (47:19):
Central Perks.

Speaker 8 (47:20):
Yes, John.

Speaker 4 (47:22):
Yes.

Speaker 9 (47:22):
$ 2, 000.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
Johnny.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
Wow.

Speaker 6 (47:25):
You did it.

Speaker 11 (47:25):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 8 (47:26):
John, what a cool customer you are.

Speaker 6 (47:28):
John, you're a showman.

Speaker 8 (47:29):
You certainly are.

Speaker 6 (47:29):
You are a showman.

Speaker 3 (47:30):
You've done it for all of us and you've got
$ 2, 000 for yourself.

Speaker 6 (47:34):
John, I was on the edge of a seat.

Speaker 5 (47:35):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 11 (47:35):
That's fantastic. Thank you so much for that.

Speaker 3 (47:37):
Oh, congratulations, John.

Speaker 6 (47:39):
Thank you. $ 2, 000. Winner, winner, John Dinner.

Speaker 4 (47:41):
Oh. Wow.

Speaker 11 (47:42):
That's the one.

Speaker 6 (47:43):
I need a lie down.

Speaker 3 (47:44):
Yeah, me too.

Speaker 6 (47:44):
Thank you, John. Smoke them if you've got them.

Speaker 3 (47:46):
Well done.

Speaker 8 (47:47):
You are a winner.

Speaker 11 (47:48):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 10 (47:49):
And you can be like John. Give us your best crack.
JonesyNamanda.com.au Jam Nation. I'm still $ 2, 000. That was the best
Instagram we've done for a long time.

Speaker 3 (47:59):
It was so exciting. John was such a cool customer.
He was. You got out your tempting pants and he
took so long to decide whether he was going to
go for the two grand or not.

Speaker 6 (48:08):
He's a real showman, you know. We straddle lots of
medias here, don't we?

Speaker 3 (48:13):
Often in our tempting pants and sometimes just in our
casual gear.

Speaker 6 (48:16):
Our tempting pants, they're double stitched for that reason.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
I better bring my quick unpick.

Speaker 6 (48:23):
We've also got, why are you unpicking my pants?

Speaker 3 (48:26):
I'm picking your story.

Speaker 6 (48:28):
We've also got our social media dipstick. She comes with
her own intro.

Speaker 5 (48:32):
Her name is Jenna and she loves cats, TikTok, Snapchat.

Speaker 17 (48:36):
She's a social media guru.

Speaker 8 (48:39):
We like to.

Speaker 2 (48:39):
Call her our social media dipstick.

Speaker 8 (48:42):
By the way, she's single.

Speaker 9 (48:43):
Pop, pop, pop.

Speaker 16 (48:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (48:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (48:45):
I don't even know what that means. Hello, Jenna.

Speaker 16 (48:47):
I think you did that one last week.

Speaker 10 (48:49):
No.

Speaker 6 (48:49):
I said, what's up, hon?

Speaker 16 (48:51):
Nah, that was the week before and that was gross.

Speaker 6 (48:53):
It's all gross.

Speaker 10 (48:54):
Hang on, all those influencers that talk with their mouths open.

Speaker 3 (48:57):
They talk with their mouths open.

Speaker 4 (48:58):
What a shock.

Speaker 6 (48:59):
They do that. They never close their mouths when they talk.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
Anyway, Jenna, what have we done this week?

Speaker 10 (49:03):
Unlike I wish you would do from time to time.

Speaker 16 (49:06):
Anyway, it's been a huge week across the Jonesy and
Amanda socials and it all started with the overwhelming emotion
of seeing Jai Arrow run out for his 100th Rabbitohs
game after his motor neuron disease diagnosis. So our video
has received close to 200,000 views in a few days
and thousands of beautiful comments, such as this one from

(49:27):
Jan who writes, the last two weeks have been so
emotional watching Jai walk out. He's such a beautiful person
who doesn't deserve this, especially at such a young age
and having it affecting him so severely so quickly. No
one deserves these terrible diseases. Rabideau's supporters really miss seeing
him play. He was amazing on the field, but so
good to still see him at the games cheering his

(49:48):
team on.

Speaker 3 (49:49):
We're all with him. Oh, that sums it up beautifully.
It really does.

Speaker 4 (49:54):
Yes.

Speaker 16 (49:54):
Another popular post was your view on Ray Gunn and
her new Netflix documentary Breaking Badly. So you guys believe
that Ray Gunn was unfairly treated. And if a male
did that performance, then the blowback wouldn't have been as harsh.

Speaker 6 (50:09):
He'd be a hero.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
Because what I thought was that as Australians, we like
the underdog. We like the quirky story. But people really
turned on her and I didn't quite understand why did,
what did people think? Yeah.

Speaker 16 (50:22):
So our videos received thousands of comments. Um, this one
from Kieran, he writes, I disagree. If it was a
bloke doing it, I believe it would have been a
very similar reaction.

Speaker 3 (50:32):
I do agree.

Speaker 16 (50:34):
Sexism played a part in the uproar, but no way
would a bloke be called a hero for doing that.
This wasn't a larrikin going on Australia's Got Talent. This
was the Olympics.

Speaker 8 (50:43):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (50:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (50:44):
But I would implore anyone before they say anything. Watch
the documentary because then it.

Speaker 6 (50:49):
Will change your mind.

Speaker 16 (50:50):
Yeah, well, Eliza, she says, I was appalled at the
sports psychologist who didn't take her anxiety seriously enough and
empower her more rather than just dismissing her fear that
the whole world might laugh at her. It's the Olympics.

Speaker 3 (51:04):
The whole world was.

Speaker 16 (51:05):
Watching and that fear became a sad reality. This was
the first time breakdancing was an event grouped.

Speaker 3 (51:10):
With all these elite athletes. She should have gotten more support.

Speaker 8 (51:14):
Oh, interesting.

Speaker 6 (51:15):
There you go.

Speaker 3 (51:15):
Very interesting.

Speaker 6 (51:16):
I love our listeners. We support the B-boys and the B-girls.

Speaker 8 (51:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
You're on the D-list.

Speaker 16 (51:23):
On another note, it's time for Digital Genesis.

Speaker 8 (51:25):
Digital Genesis.

Speaker 16 (51:28):
This is where I choose my favourite contributor of the
week who will receive a bespoke tin hat made by Amanda.

Speaker 3 (51:33):
I'd better get on to it.

Speaker 16 (51:35):
And this week it goes to Xander on Facebook who
commented this on our recent tin hat video. He writes,
finally some real news in the media. We might be
all right if you act normal and realise that we
have been lied to and deceived for many generations till now.
Also no punctuation.

Speaker 6 (51:53):
No, capitals.

Speaker 3 (51:54):
And what conspiracy in particular?

Speaker 16 (51:56):
That was about the trams.

Speaker 6 (51:59):
Ah, the trams, yeah.

Speaker 4 (52:00):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (52:01):
Yeah, that was, we had Rob, regular contributor Rob. What
was he saying about the trams? He said the electric
trams were running in Melbourne.

Speaker 3 (52:07):
Before they had electricity?

Speaker 6 (52:08):
Before they had electricity. And it was just on radiant
energy from the sun. Stop, stop. And the reason they
can't meter radiant energy is because the sun is raining
upon us. Do you not see?

Speaker 3 (52:21):
Yes, no one can charge it like that.

Speaker 6 (52:24):
When did they get to you, man?

Speaker 3 (52:26):
It just hurts my head.

Speaker 10 (52:28):
Go and eat a lizard and a baby.

Speaker 6 (52:30):
Jenna, thank you. Or is it the lizard people that
eat the babies?

Speaker 3 (52:37):
I don't know, but we know what you're having this weekend.

Speaker 6 (52:40):
I feel like lizard baby tonight.

Speaker 1 (52:41):
Righto, you two.

Speaker 7 (52:42):
That's enough.

Speaker 3 (52:43):
Baby peas count. I do like them.

Speaker 6 (52:47):
I think you should give peas a chance.

Speaker 3 (52:49):
Oh, this show is ending in the most.

Speaker 6 (52:50):
It's terrible. It's Friday. I'm sorry, everyone.

Speaker 3 (52:52):
What a dreadful end to the week.

Speaker 6 (52:54):
We will attempt to do better next week.

Speaker 3 (52:57):
I promise you we will.

Speaker 6 (52:58):

you bother? Head to jonesyandamanda.com.au.
