Speaker 4 (00:16):
It hurts, but someone's got to do it, Amanda, mad Amanda.

Speaker 5 (00:21):
Jones and the virile Jonesy.

Speaker 6 (00:23):
But heard them describe him as a drunken idiot.

Speaker 7 (00:27):
Stay in school and learned school.

Speaker 8 (00:29):
Yeah, okay, Jones.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
And Amanda, those are names that you will never forget.

Speaker 1 (00:35):

Speaker 7 (00:36):
Hello, Amanda, how are you my little scarf friend.

Speaker 5 (00:38):
My scaffed friend? You have scaffed it down?

Speaker 6 (00:41):
Are you wearing a scaff because you're in directorial mode?

Speaker 7 (00:44):
Because tonight is the night for Ryan's play.

Speaker 9 (00:47):
I'm wearing my job pers and yes they are job
pers and my scarf because I want to look directorial.

Speaker 7 (00:54):
I'm just going to take a bullhorn saves and action,
gy am. I right, tonight is the night.

Speaker 10 (01:02):
Yeah, the plays on tonight.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
Well reiterate.

Speaker 9 (01:05):
This is a play you have produced, you have written,
and you star in with both your brothers.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Yes.

Speaker 10 (01:10):
Yeah, it's called a Kingdom of Fools.

Speaker 11 (01:11):
So it's a medieval comedy and it's playing in Sydney
at the Eternity Playhouse.

Speaker 7 (01:16):
So you wrote it, you directed, and you star and
it you're like, you're like one nation.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
He's a triple threat. And I have seen it before.
It is excellent.

Speaker 7 (01:25):
I missed it.

Speaker 5 (01:25):
Just going to say this to Brendan. It's got leeches
in it. Do you mind if I say that?

Speaker 10 (01:28):
That's okay?

Speaker 5 (01:30):
Really it's such a hook to say you've got leeches.

Speaker 10 (01:33):
Yeah, you just have to come and see and find out.

Speaker 11 (01:35):
Jonesy, not that you said before you missed it, but
I think you there was more deliberate than no, I
just missed.

Speaker 7 (01:42):
It was very really I had.

Speaker 6 (01:44):
I had my football side was playing in a very
pivotal game, and so.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
You had to sit at home on the couch and
watch it.

Speaker 6 (01:49):
Yes, because and the Fellows went on to lose that game.
So I should have perhaps come to your play. But
I am at the player and I understand a man
who was saying, there's been some tweaks.

Speaker 11 (01:58):
Yes, so it's ninety minutes now, so it used to
be a big epic affair, so it's really quick.

Speaker 10 (02:03):
It's fun.

Speaker 9 (02:04):
It's funny, like one of those big Indian shows that
would go for four days.

Speaker 7 (02:09):
What does your mum and dad think?

Speaker 10 (02:11):
They love it? They're coming like every night, all right.

Speaker 7 (02:13):
And mom loves it.

Speaker 6 (02:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (02:14):
What about your dad though, Dad, Well he says he
loves it, so, you know, and he's got a suit.

Speaker 10 (02:19):
Of armor in the show as well. Yeah, there's lots
of fun things to go and check out.

Speaker 7 (02:23):
The night's the night. I'm going to get my cravat
as well and my bullohorn.

Speaker 10 (02:27):
But don't heckle me like you did to the Billy
Elliott kids.

Speaker 7 (02:30):
That's you know.

Speaker 9 (02:31):
And also, don't drink as much as you did when
you came to see me in theater sports.

Speaker 7 (02:35):
I'll just say this. The Billy Elliott thing was Elton
John's fault.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
Elton John was on stage doing a seventeen minutes solo
of Rocketman and I said get off. I what I
meant to say was get on with it.

Speaker 9 (02:50):
He didn't realize he was introducing the cast of Billy Elliot.

Speaker 7 (02:55):
It looked for all in Sundry that I was heckling
the kids from Billy who was.

Speaker 5 (02:59):
In fact, it's quite a right to be doing and
yelling at of.

Speaker 7 (03:02):
Course anyway, and there's enough setup.

Speaker 5 (03:04):
We've Elton wearing a suit of armor.

Speaker 7 (03:06):
I'm not sure anyway.

Speaker 6 (03:09):

I think were already announced it yesterday? Say do it again?

Speaker 9 (03:20):
It's Alex Lloyd. Alex Lloyd has had the hit Amazing.
It's twenty five years old. He has lived a thousand
lives since then, and I think he brings new pathos
to this song.

Speaker 12 (03:29):

Or is there fire?

Speaker 10 (03:59):
No, there's no Are there lions?

Speaker 7 (05:12):
Does anyone collect the kids? When I was a kid,
everyone collect tadpoles.

Speaker 9 (05:15):
I have such a memory of a friend's mother picking
me up with her after we've gone collecting tadpole collecting
tadpoles in an empty ice cream container, And as I
got out of the car, I said bye, missus Smith,
and I tipped them all into the backseat of the car.
And only only years later did that come back to
I thought that would be a horrendous thing to have

(05:36):
happened the kids.

Speaker 7 (05:37):
And the kids don't collect tadpoles these days. They just
nanging on.

Speaker 9 (05:40):
How come we don't have a million more frogs than
we used to?

Speaker 7 (07:24):

Speaker 7 (07:56):
In a crazy mainland of ways?

Speaker 5 (07:58):
How many stars are part of the Southern Cross constellation?

Speaker 8 (08:03):
Five?

Speaker 7 (08:03):
It's right, Let's just have a look at a Manda's
tramp stamp?

Speaker 5 (08:06):
Okay, there that one? There is a pimple?

Speaker 7 (08:08):
Yep? And what does that one mean? Slippery? When I'll
stop it? Which Australia, this is question five, Andrew.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
Let's wrap this up.

Speaker 6 (08:17):
Which Australian see a songwriter had a hit with their
song amazing in two thousand and one, it won Single
of the Year in the Arias as well.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
Incidentally, he's joining us for our Friday Fueld session.

sure will.

Speaker 7 (08:37):
Good. Congratulations you won the jam pack.

Speaker 6 (08:39):
You have won two hundred and fifty dollars worth of
free fuel.

Speaker 7 (08:43):
Andrew.

Speaker 8 (08:45):
Awesome, Thank you very much, Thank you.

Speaker 7 (08:47):
Carry on about your business.

Speaker 9 (08:48):
Actually he hasn't won free fuel. He's won fuel. He's
won two and fifty dollars of fuel. It was free fuel.
It wouldn't have a monetary value attached.

Speaker 7 (08:57):
Andrew, do you find this charming or irritating or correct?

Speaker 8 (09:03):
Correct?

Speaker 5 (09:03):
Thank you and direct? Thank you, Andrew arming. He's got
to join my club of pedants?

Speaker 7 (09:10):

on Monday on gold.

Speaker 7 (09:23):
Do you like snakes?

Speaker 11 (09:25):
Do?

Speaker 5 (09:25):
Many people say yes?

Speaker 7 (09:27):
I didn't get those snake people the.

Speaker 9 (09:28):
Last tell you what I went to this place in China.
It was I don't know what. We were just walking past.
It was part of an artist's installation and it was
the most horrific thing I've ever seen. Giant, big Amazonian
bullfrogs in tiny tanks. There would be tarantulas. There were

(09:51):
snakes just slithering and it looked like they their cages
weren't completely sealed off, and they had lego astronauts in
with them and it was just and there were big
galapagous turtles trying to break out of their enclosures. It
was completely freaky. But it was the smell. The smell
certain reptile smell.

Speaker 7 (10:09):
A lot of rats and you get rat breath.

Speaker 9 (10:11):
There's this horrendous story because not long after we left China,
I didn't go to any rural areas there, only went
to Beijing and Shanghai. But they've had a lot of flooding.
This is what you don't think of when you think
of flooding. Hundreds of cobras have escaped from a breeding
farm in South China and so there's been a typhoon.
They call it just an incident. It looks like the

(10:33):
most horrific incident I've ever seen. We will put the
vision of this up on our socials because there's hundreds
and hundreds of these snakes. Yeah, in one big conger
line heading down a waterway, and from the distance they
look a bit like ducks because their little heads are
poking up.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Then you go, that's not ducks, na, that's cobras.

Speaker 7 (10:52):
Yeah, it's like indy snakes.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Why did they have to be snakes?

Speaker 6 (10:56):
Why they have to be snakes? What would you rather
a room of snakes or a room full of bugs?

Speaker 5 (11:03):
What kind of bugs?

Speaker 7 (11:05):
Bugs? An assortment of bugs, cockroaches, all that, or a
room for of snakes.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
I'd rather the bugs.

Speaker 7 (11:12):
Okay, what would you rather eat a snake or eat
a bug?

Speaker 5 (11:18):
I've had to eat a roll mop an.

Speaker 9 (11:20):
That's an eel's all. It's an eel and they slice
it up. I had to do it for a story
in England at the fish markets. And it's got like
a it's got bones in it, it's like a spine through.

Speaker 5 (11:33):
It, and it was like this slithery oily make That's
the worst thing I've ever eaten.

Speaker 7 (11:41):
I'm sure you've eaten.

Speaker 5 (11:44):
I've had an undercook erbab at your house. So beware.

Speaker 9 (11:49):
If you are in southern China and you think that
looks like a cute little is it a flock of ducks.

Speaker 7 (11:53):
Ducks, a flock what do you call a flock of snakes? Exactly?
It sounds like watch out.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Jam Nation.

Speaker 13 (12:04):
Is Australia termed minus Brandt Webb and Todd Russell made
it to the top of the sharp that's kept them
Prisoner Finelli two weeks.

Speaker 8 (12:18):
Arline, will you have this man?

Speaker 13 (12:20):
Would be your weathered husband dream.

Speaker 7 (12:29):
The census is coming up again this year.

Speaker 9 (12:32):
Yeah, as you heard there, I mean Australia. These snapshots
of memory that just take us back to who we were.
We are filling out the census on August eleven. This
comes about every five years.

Speaker 7 (12:45):
This will be our fourth census together.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
Brand.

Speaker 9 (12:48):
Yes, well, I don't think they ask us who do
you work with and what are their star signs?

Speaker 10 (12:52):
But this is it.

Speaker 7 (12:53):
I work with a man. It's the pace.

Speaker 9 (12:56):
It's winds into understanding how we is Australias live, who
we are, how our communities are changing, all of that stuff.

Speaker 7 (13:03):
Today we're going back to nineteen ninety one.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
Yeah, that was a census year.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
And in nineteen ninety one I was hankering from a
Chinese meal, a succulent Chinese meal.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
Eating a meal, a succulent Chinese meal.

Speaker 6 (13:15):
This is where alleged accused frauds to Jack Carson delivered
that speech, and it.

Speaker 7 (13:20):
Was a meme before memes are even in vicable.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
It's become so legendary around the world.

Speaker 7 (13:25):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 9 (13:27):
Nineteen ninety one was also the year we were first
introduced to this.

Speaker 11 (13:31):
Hot potato, hot potato, half potato, hot potato, half potato potato.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
My favorite thing about this is Greg forgot the lyrics
to hot potato.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Do you remember the cold spaghetti?

Speaker 7 (13:45):
What one next? Give me my line?

Speaker 5 (13:47):
His friends just must mock him, what are you bringing
to the barbecue?

Speaker 7 (13:50):
But that was potato patia.

Speaker 6 (13:51):
That was back in the days when they had a
card table and some dodgy skivvies and the.

Speaker 9 (13:57):
Big Red Car seriously was made of card in the
early days. But their longevity is quite extraordinary. Kids today
are still singing those songs. But that was the year
that they kicked off in nineteen nine, and.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
The Big Red Car is a Ferrari's huge year.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
In nineteen ninety one, Midnight All gave us Blue Sky
Mine Sky from the album Blue Sky Mining. John Farlan
was doing the Oliver two Fista with Burn for you.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
That's a big year.

Speaker 12 (14:28):
Yeah, what a loved I love this.

Speaker 7 (14:34):
Listen to it Burn.

Speaker 6 (14:38):
And do you have your clinics handling? Why because Wendy
Matthews gave us this.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
There's not a sight.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
What a bumper year.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
She took home Best Female Artist?

Speaker 1 (14:52):
What was her name?

Speaker 5 (14:55):
This is a thing.

Speaker 9 (14:55):
We know so much about who we are and what
shaped us all thanks to the Census of nineteen ninety one.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
Who knows what we will learn from the Census of
twenty twenty six.

Speaker 6 (15:04):
And that's why we need to hear from everyone to
help plan for Australia's future. The census is coming this
August and every answer matters in partnership with the Australian
Bureau of Statistics.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
You're listening to the Jonesy and Demanda podcast now about
the miracle of recording Jonesy and Amanda.

Speaker 11 (15:25):
And Amanda are two great needs.

Speaker 14 (15:27):
Such scat I'm not a scatter, that's the chemistry between them.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
But how much real find your own business and shut
your pie.

Speaker 15 (15:33):
I wish you were with your show.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
Today is the seventeenth of July and you know what
I say about on this day information?

Speaker 5 (15:39):
Oh you always say the same thing. You think it's
the domain of lazy radio, and then you go on
to do it.

Speaker 6 (15:45):
You hear a radio show doing on this day information
and you know that that show is going to be
around for a long time unless you're doing it. It's
something very interesting today Today is World Emoji Day.

Speaker 5 (16:00):
What's your favorite emoji?

Speaker 7 (16:01):
I like that kooky face one, you do it?

Speaker 5 (16:04):
I like the melting face one?

Speaker 7 (16:07):
What is that? What does that?

Speaker 6 (16:08):
Well?

Speaker 5 (16:09):
The way I use it is is.

Speaker 7 (16:11):
That what it is?

Speaker 1 (16:11):
Right?

Speaker 10 (16:13):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
Do you think the audience of your plate tonight will
be doing that melting face or.

Speaker 10 (16:17):
They'll be doing the cheering emoji?

Speaker 5 (16:19):
You know which one they might use.

Speaker 9 (16:20):
A friend and I used to use the asteroid emoji,
and when we're having a hard day would say, let's
give the asteroid our coordinates.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
What is the asteroid?

Speaker 5 (16:28):
I want this world to end?

Speaker 7 (16:30):
What about the poop emoji?

Speaker 9 (16:32):
Well, actually, you know this is interesting with the poop emoji,
this is brilliant. Jordan Peel from Key and Peel comedy duo,
he famously quit.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
Acting because he was offered the voice roll of the
poop emoji in the Emoji movie.

Speaker 7 (16:43):
This is what he.

Speaker 9 (16:44):
Said the Emoji movie actually helped me quit acting. I
was offered the role of Poop. He said I would
not make this up. I was like, well, that's beeped up.
I told my manager that's beeped up. Let me sleep
on it. I came back the next day and I said, well,
what are they offering and he said, oh, well, they've
already given it to sir Patrick.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
That's why I quit acting.

Speaker 7 (17:04):
Don't turn you back on poop.

Speaker 5 (17:06):
No, someone ready to scoop it up behind you.

Speaker 7 (17:09):
This is not importing for your show tonight. I hope not.
It will be. I'm sure there'll be eggplanes.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
I'm sure I won't be there texting my friend the
asteroid emoji.

Speaker 7 (17:22):
Coming up. It's something that I used to do all
the time, but I don't do it so much anymore.
What's that, Well, we're going to put it to the
pub test.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
I read something interesting that i'd like to share.

Speaker 9 (17:32):
It's sort of I guess it's about your brain, about
neuroplasticity and.

Speaker 7 (17:37):
About Oh it sounds science.

Speaker 9 (17:40):
I guess it's not hard science. It's maybe psychological psychoth.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
I know it's Friday and sometimes you put on slacky pads,
but surely there's a space for it.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
Like once he's science rap, wouldn't you think?

Speaker 5 (17:57):
Look, I don't think it needs the introduction. We're going
just feel.

Speaker 7 (18:00):
If you're going to do a job, you do it properly.
Am I right?

Speaker 16 (18:05):
Science?

Speaker 5 (18:19):
Happy?

Speaker 6 (18:19):
Do I even need to be here because I want
you to be the best.

Speaker 7 (18:24):
You can be?

Speaker 5 (18:24):
Okay, Brendan g thank you. I'll stop asking you this.
Do you like camping?

Speaker 9 (18:32):
No, I'm not a big camping person, but there's something
that I've done around a fire.

Speaker 7 (18:36):
And oh I love sitting around the fire. That's the
best part of the camping.

Speaker 9 (18:39):
Yes, I think so too. And somehow we're different around
a fire. That's why we have conversations and stories. And
you can sit just looking at the fire. People who
are normally incredibly bored, very easily like you are, can
still sit there for ours just looking at it.

Speaker 6 (18:55):
Well, I'm a bit of a I'm a bit of
a pyromaniac. And you know, my mate Scamp, the scamp
down at his farm. He is too scared to go
to bed early because his father and I get together.

Speaker 7 (19:08):
And just build a massive bonfire, take.

Speaker 5 (19:11):
The tires off the car and throw them in.

Speaker 6 (19:13):
We just come a bit nuts and one time the
scampyond it. I can feel heat on the side of
my caravan, said man, it's all right.

Speaker 7 (19:21):
And then we looked at all the blistered pate and
I blamed his dad. I said, oh, that was Bob.
That was That was Bob. That was your dad, not me.

Speaker 9 (19:28):
Oh look we're looking at a fire. Here and here
and here. The reason there's a reason why humans love
looking at fires and why it feels different when we do,
and it's about campfire neuroplasticity, So psychological and neuroplasticity benefits
of sitting by a fire and staring at it. Because

(19:49):
when you look at a fire, every single thing you
see is completely random. There's no predictive element to it.
It forces your brain to accept the reality that it
has no idea what's coming next. It puts you in
a highly they say, a neuroresponsive state, so you can
have more open conversations, a bit more susceptible to new ideas,

(20:09):
which is why so many powerful conversations happen around a campfire.

Speaker 7 (20:14):
Right.

Speaker 9 (20:14):
I saw this on socials and a lot of the
comments were very interesting. Someone here said, we were camping
last night, I ended up by the fire, alone for
a couple of hours. I was wondering what was happening
to my brain because I've never felt so relaxed to
stay alone doing.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Nothing for so long.

Speaker 9 (20:28):
And this is the thing, This is how folklore stories
have been passed on from generation to generation.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
Stories around a.

Speaker 7 (20:33):
Camp, the word round the camp, because your.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Brain is more open to the story.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Well, I certainly open. Chat from scamp. I can feel
heat on the side of my caravan.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Very big Marshmallow, Science, Jonesy and Amanda.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Listen to the podcast whenever you want with the free iheartapp.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
Who wants to go to the pub? Because when there's
big it'sues to unpick. We go down to the judges
of your man of arms.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
For the pub test.

Speaker 6 (21:06):
Top test does not past the pub test, hub test tests,
up test, sub test, the cub test.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Doesn't pass the Sliff test, and stop it. It's not helpful.

Speaker 7 (21:15):
It's something that I was reading the other day.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
More and more people are sitting in the front seat
of an uber and a cab again, and I was
one of those that always had in the front seat
of a cab.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
I think Australians do this. Other countries don't do this
so much. I think buy and large. It's more men
than women.

Speaker 9 (21:33):
And it's because you just don't want to encourage that intimacy.
You just think, I'm just going to sit here in
my own business rather than having a false conversation, because
you quite like that, don't you though you'd give traffic directions.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
So maybe the drivers are I do.

Speaker 6 (21:47):
I have had a few run ins with cab drivers
in the past, you know, because I said, mate, we're
not going on the set.

Speaker 7 (21:52):
I'm not a tourist. We don't need the scenic route. Mate,
Come on, that's not going to get any greener.

Speaker 9 (21:56):
But why are people who why they they've chosen to
sit in the back, and now they sitting in They sat.

Speaker 7 (22:01):
In the back because of COVID and we all.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
Did that and now and going back to being friendly.

Speaker 6 (22:07):
And in the old days of Uber, when Uber first
came along, there was a period when I would sit
in the front seat because it looked weird because an
Uber doesn't look like a CA And if you were
driving around in the car sitting in the back.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
And you made them a hat.

Speaker 6 (22:21):
And like my daughter when she was a teen, her
and a friend would sit in the back of the
car and I just it would I look like Jeeves.

Speaker 5 (22:31):
Driving this daisy.

Speaker 7 (22:34):
It just seemed odd.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
But then the pandemic came along, and then I got
used to sitting in the backseat of an uber and
I didn't think anything old.

Speaker 9 (22:41):
I think by largest trading men sit in the front,
but I don't think women do.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
I've been intrigued to know.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
It's interesting we've changed so much since the pandemic, or
have we?

Speaker 5 (22:51):
Do you prefer to sit in the front of the back,
That's what we're asking.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
Well, when we leave the Jonesy Demand of Arms today,
where will you be sitting?

Speaker 9 (22:56):
I'm walking Brendan sitting in the front or the back
of an overal taxi?

Speaker 5 (23:00):
Does it pass the pub.

Speaker 6 (23:01):
Testirteen fifty five twenty two. We'd love to hear from
you on gold Gem Nation.

Speaker 3 (23:06):
The pub test top test does not past the pub test,
Hub Test to.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Tests, pup Test sub test.

Speaker 6 (23:12):
The pub test doesn't pass the Sliff test and stop it.

Speaker 10 (23:15):
It's not help.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
When there are a big issues to unpack, we go
down to the Jonesy demand arounds for the pub test
and today, sitting in the front seat of an uber
or taxi?

Speaker 7 (23:23):
Does it pass the pub t.

Speaker 9 (23:24):
Yes, Apparently during COVID everyone started sitting in the back.
But before that, Australian men buying line sat in the front,
and now people are going back to sitting in the front.

Speaker 7 (23:34):
When I first met you, going back to the front, sir.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
When I first met you, you may be sitting in
the back of the cab with you.

Speaker 7 (23:41):
Yes, I just had a flashback.

Speaker 9 (23:44):
I thought it was unusual, and I thought it was
weird that when you go out with your wife in
a cab, you'd sit in the front and she'd.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Sit in there.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
Yeah, there was a bit old school that.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
Shouldn't you sit together in the back, And what do
you do?

Speaker 10 (23:55):
You have to sit next to your past?

Speaker 7 (23:56):
Yeah, absolutely, No, we're from a different generation. No, I
like you young.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
I thought that was weird.

Speaker 6 (24:01):
Yeah, it was because now Helen and I, whenever we
go in a ride sharing vehicle, whether it be a
can or.

Speaker 7 (24:11):
A hay ride, we all sit in the back.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
What do you do sitting in the front or the
back of an uber or taxi? Does it pass the
pub test?

Speaker 9 (24:21):
I do prefer an uber and I do prefer to
sit in the back just a little safer, I think.

Speaker 12 (24:27):
Yeah, definitely not my cup of tea.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
I'm want to sit the back.

Speaker 5 (24:30):
To be honest, I had a very.

Speaker 9 (24:31):
Unusual recent uber experience and it's left miscarred, to be fair,
and luckily I was sitting at the back and not
the front, because it's just be super awkward.

Speaker 14 (24:39):
Yeah, I think it passes the tup test, and I
still have a little chat with the guys as you're
going wherever you got to go.

Speaker 10 (24:46):
I'd rather sit in the back.

Speaker 8 (24:47):
It's like a bit of space from the driver.

Speaker 15 (24:48):
Need a bit of privacy.

Speaker 7 (24:50):
I'm going to go on my frame.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
That's right. I don't want to drive it to see.
I've got wordled out in four.

Speaker 6 (24:57):
Thank you for all your calls, Sham. Many years ago,
I dabbled in stand up comedy. I was a radio
DJ and I used to back announced Nickelback.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
And Creed and no one did it better than you.

Speaker 6 (25:09):
And then one day I was down at a pub
with Mick molloy, who's a friend of mine, and would
I said, I don't.

Speaker 7 (25:14):
Think I could ever do stand up comedy. It seems
so hard, And.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
Mick said, you're pretty much doing it right now around
this bar table. He said you should go and do
an open mic night and This is in the late nineties,
and I became obsessed with it. I'd go along to
open mic night. You put your name down on the
bit of page.

Speaker 5 (25:32):
Right, your type five.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
I had a tight five. But it took me, I think,
about two months to actually get up. You put your
name down, they put the list up on the wall,
and then you look at the list and then you
weren't going to be on?

Speaker 5 (25:46):
Would you stay if you weren't on?

Speaker 7 (25:47):
What if you didn't stay? So I just go right,
will storm out of the plant?

Speaker 6 (25:52):
Didn't so I kept putting me back and back, and
then one day I went and I watched and the
part of it was going to the stand up to
the comedy store or watching it is you got to
learn and you've got to know the other comedians and
so you get up there.

Speaker 7 (26:06):
And so the night that I actually came up, I
wasn't expecting to do.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
It, which is probably better.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
And then I can't really remember it.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
It wasn't bad, but in the end they offered to
pay me to do a gig. That gig, unfortunately was
September eleven, So that was the last gig.

Speaker 7 (26:23):
I ever did.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
Because it's not your fault, I kind of thought, well,
you know, we're all going to war?

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Can we ever laugh at it?

Speaker 7 (26:30):
It's the end of the world.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
But someone that I really enjoyed and I thought is
incredibly funny is Chris Radburn. And he has done many,
many great gigs and he's a very funny guy. But
I follow him on Instagram and he recently just nailed
this discussion about the difference between men and women in
What'sapp groups.

Speaker 7 (26:49):
It is so funny.

Speaker 14 (26:50):
The problem with WhatsApp groups is it's just too much messaging.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
My network group from my daughter.

Speaker 14 (26:56):
The coach will ask a simple question, who can't make me? Simple,
isn't it? And what do you get? We'll be there
see you soon. Can't wait?

Speaker 7 (27:10):
Didn't ask that, did me?

Speaker 14 (27:14):
I just want to know who can't make neple?

Speaker 1 (27:15):
That's it?

Speaker 14 (27:17):
It should be one or two messages, that's it. Then
you get one mom goes on, sorry, we can't make
an Evie's brain to ankle off, because then you get
twenty messages of support. Ah, poor Evie.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
Get well soon. Oh that's not good.

Speaker 14 (27:39):
Then you get one mom that makes it about herself,
doesn't she Oh that happened.

Speaker 17 (27:43):
To my daughter last year.

Speaker 7 (27:46):
It really does her.

Speaker 14 (27:50):
One mom that actually does answer the question goes, oh,
we can't make it, We'll be in Paris.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
You show off he.

Speaker 14 (28:00):
Can't lay because then it says Chris left the group.
Dad did the best and works out it's just this.

Speaker 7 (28:10):
Thumbs up, because that's all dads do.

Speaker 6 (28:12):
And you know what, when you delete something on WhatsApp
of you, you might write something and it might even
just be not even bad, or you've said it not
even bad.

Speaker 7 (28:21):
And then you've deleted. You know, Brendan's deleted this, see
that you've deleted, and then everyone.

Speaker 5 (28:26):
Just sound intriguing, doesn't it.

Speaker 7 (28:27):
So that WhatsApp group that I'm in with the fellow's
loose lip six ships.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
So one day I just put something but I was
meaning to send it to you, but so I deleted
it and then what have you deleted?

Speaker 9 (28:39):
You do want me to send it to them because
I think they'll be hugely invested in the idea that
the captain from Captain inter Neil wasn't a real captain,
because that's what the information is you send me, he
wasn't a real captain.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
No, I know.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
You're listening to the Jonesy and demand a podcast.

Speaker 10 (28:57):
Yeah, it's in a request for them to do it again.

Speaker 18 (28:59):
A man man cracks me up.

Speaker 5 (29:01):
Sho lay off the moonshine.

Speaker 19 (29:04):
Knocking a man, it's so weak.

Speaker 6 (29:10):
Well, hello, Amanner, it's f FS. The Friday Fields Sessions
is coming up today. We've had a litany of great
stars Grace House Studio and today we've.

Speaker 7 (29:19):
Got someone that's huge.

Speaker 6 (29:20):
I can't believe that this song because you and I
were front and said that we were working in another
radio network at the time when this song broke. But
as soon as I heard it the first time I
heard it, I knew.

Speaker 7 (29:29):
It was going to be a hit. I think we
all did amazing.

Speaker 6 (29:35):
And Alex Lloyd, the creator and the singer of that hit,
went on to do amazing things and one A Brad
the other stuff though he did some good stuff coming Home.

Speaker 7 (29:48):
Place House of Dreams.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
I love this.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
Song.

Speaker 7 (29:58):
This is a great song.

Speaker 6 (30:00):
So we are going to refamiliarize ourselves with Alex Lloyd.

Speaker 7 (30:03):
That's coming up.

Speaker 6 (30:04):
Also Instagram if you would like to play Jones about it,
dot com dot au on gold dem.

Speaker 9 (30:10):
Well, our Friday Field Sessions are back for another week
and we are thrilled to be celebrating an artist. It
was put his stamp on the Australian music industry with
this incredible hit. We are talking, of course, about the
one and only Alex Lloyd now Alex Hello.

Speaker 7 (30:31):
Yeah, Hello, how are you good? To see you?

Speaker 9 (30:33):
Brood Friday? Twenty five years since that song. You've lived
a million lives since then. Do you sing it differently now?
Because of the life of the water that's gone under
the bridge of life lived.

Speaker 20 (30:48):
I sing it better, of course, and the audience will
know all the words. That's the best thing about that
song because people say, oh, you must be bored singing
that song if you don't do it for twenty five years,
And no, if you give you know, I've created something
that brings people joy. I mean, can you not just
be Oh? That's just the best thing ever.

Speaker 6 (31:08):
Because sometimes you hear artists and when they're younger, they'll
complain about a certain song and I'm sick of playing it.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
But as they get older they appreciate that song more.

Speaker 5 (31:17):
Yeah, because it bought their house plaid off the guttering.

Speaker 20 (31:20):
Yes, I'm very, very very grateful for it.

Speaker 9 (31:23):
You've also released new music recently with Echoes of Home.
What kind of things you're writing about these days?

Speaker 5 (31:30):
That's thee.

Speaker 20 (31:31):
I look my writing it for me, you know, it's
quite ambiguous, and you know, amazing is actually a classic
example of that where it's used for funerals and weddings,
which both very poignant status of life, or you know,
memories or creating a history with somebody or remembering one

(31:52):
I'm going to name job, but you know, like the
Prince or now the King and Queen of Denmark. They
came to me at a Red Cross event said oh,
we fell in love to Black the Sun, and I
was that's a breakup song right to me, you know,
but wow, feeling of breaking up and falling in love,
like at the intense level is exactly the same.

Speaker 9 (32:14):
I know you've had some hard years. You spoke about
your addiction after an injury, has music held? Was music
your path through?

Speaker 20 (32:23):
My music was my healing after the storm, like, so
the path through was pretty intense. I didn't I mean,
you know, with that particular drug, you know, as a
prescribed medicine, I didn't know what I was in for
like some people had. Somebody didn't warn me, but I
was like, yeah, yeah, whatever, because I'd never had a

(32:45):
problem with that sort of addiction. You know, a food addiction, yeah,
but not not drugs ever. And that drug was a
different chuttle of fish. I mean, it gave me so
much at the time because I was one hundred and
sixty eight kilos and I was pretty. I wasn't very
happy chappy. You know, my marriage had ended and I
was you know, I was doing the weekend dad thing
and it was hard to move, you know, I had

(33:07):
four kids.

Speaker 6 (33:09):
I never I never like, I never thought like, I
knew you were heavy, but I didn't think you were
that much.

Speaker 7 (33:13):
That's that's huge.

Speaker 20 (33:14):
I mean I couldn't go. I was in the big
man's section for very, very long. I was relegated to
the no color there's no there's no good big men's clothes.
There's a whole market.

Speaker 5 (33:25):
There keps wrecked for everyone.

Speaker 20 (33:28):
There always on orange shirts.

Speaker 7 (33:31):
It's always a shirt. What's with the Hawaii? What's with
the Wii? But look at you now you're here, You're happy.

Speaker 20 (33:38):
I felt I just looked on marbles sometimes, just you know,
just just to feel wake up at it, you know,
and be able to get out of bed, you know, walk,
you stand up. But I was just like the point
was that when I got that drug, the oxy conton.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
You know, I could.

Speaker 20 (33:53):
I was superman. I could carry all the kids on
my back. I could do the housework, like the house
was immaculate every Friday when they got there, you know,
and the fridge was stocked, and I made three hot
meals a day and it was just sort of a
weird uh, you know, like it's sort of enabled me
to be super Dad on the weekends. But you know,

(34:13):
the long term effects and the diminishing return ended up.
It always ends up in misery, of course.

Speaker 5 (34:18):
But look at you now, you're about to head off
on tour.

Speaker 20 (34:20):
I'm very grateful, I mean to to drop that kind
of weight, and you know, I did everything possibly that
the science could offer, and I did you know, the
hard yards with it. So you know, my age, I
think it's pretty awesome. And I take my hand off
to anyone else who even has a go at it,
which is a hard thing to do.

Speaker 6 (34:41):
Because rounding a corner when you're losing weight, that is
just that milestone. When you get to that point, it
must be.

Speaker 20 (34:46):
It's so satisfied just buying off the rack in a
normal shot in the shop where you can buy a
medium or a large, you know, like all right, that's
that's just that's.

Speaker 6 (34:53):
Gold, Alex, your gold, your goal, and we're just so
glad that you're here and you're you're.

Speaker 7 (35:00):
Ready to perform. We've got some people with a little
stage for you.

Speaker 6 (35:03):
Will take a break and then is it okay if
you come back and perform amazing for us because it
is twenty.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
Five years old.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
We love it, we would love it.

Speaker 6 (35:13):
Will you do all your vocal exercises or whatever you
need to do, or go for a Wii or and
we'll come back.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
That so little Silver Bay.

Speaker 7 (35:22):
Having a twenty.

Speaker 6 (35:23):
Fifth birthday today, almost eligible for cheap insurance is Alex
Lloyd's amazing.

Speaker 7 (35:29):
I love it.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
It's happening, and you're set up, you're ready to play,
and I can't believe this song is twenty five years old.

Speaker 7 (35:38):
Cheap insurance, Well, now they move the parameters. When I
was heading towards.

Speaker 5 (35:42):
My mid twenties, the Dag your song intro.

Speaker 6 (35:45):
My dad said, you'll be able to get cheap insurance
as you get older, but they kept moving the parameters,
and now I can't retire until I'm ninety.

Speaker 7 (35:53):
So yeah, and.

Speaker 20 (35:55):
Then it's this, yeah, okay, I get you.

Speaker 7 (35:57):
You know what Tower Rock and roll is very rocket talk.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Let's talk.

Speaker 7 (36:01):
Let's talk rock around.

Speaker 6 (36:03):
So Alex, you're playing amazing for us right now, we'll
stand back, Alex Lloyd and amazing on gold.

Speaker 20 (36:09):
All right, let's get a drink.

Speaker 7 (36:10):
Everybody here we go.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
All you wanna do is roll. She t on a

Speaker 2 (41:00):
You can see a whole lot more of Jonesy and
Amanda on our social follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
That's money, extra.

Speaker 2 (41:08):

Speaker 7 (41:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (41:12):
Ten questions, sixty seconds on the clock. You could pass
if you don't know an answer. We'll come back to
that question of time permits. You're all the questions right.
One thousand dollars.

Speaker 9 (41:19):
You can make it two thousand dollars by answering a
bonus question, but it is double or nothing.

Speaker 7 (41:24):
Deborah is in Hobart, Hi, Deborah, what's going.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
On an episode of get Away at the moment in Europe?

Speaker 7 (41:33):
Because that's still going Yeah, apparently is it? What I mean,
is it in rerun?

Speaker 5 (41:38):
Because I think so when.

Speaker 6 (41:39):
You go into channel ten you see the living room
up in the and they're still re running it.

Speaker 5 (41:45):
I know, if only I had residual.

Speaker 7 (41:46):
You know, that's a thing, because they could run that
show forever.

Speaker 6 (41:49):
I reckon you can put that show on and there
it is, and you're not getting a zach for it.

Speaker 5 (41:53):
I'll be like a hologram. What is it going and going?

Speaker 7 (41:56):
You know, you might want to talk to your agent.
There is in the bush shop.

Speaker 9 (42:00):
I do think that residuals in Australian television have never
been done.

Speaker 5 (42:04):
Oh okay, never, never, It's an American thing, I think.

Speaker 6 (42:06):
Okay, Deborah, we could talk about this all day, or
we could talk about you winning possibly two thousand dollars.

Speaker 9 (42:12):
Let's see what we can do, Deborah. We first have
to answer ten questions in sixty seconds to get a thousand.

Speaker 5 (42:17):
If you're not sure and you want to come back,
say pass.

Speaker 8 (42:20):
Okay, okay, thank you.

Speaker 9 (42:22):
All right, here we go. Question one on which body
part do you wear socks?

Speaker 5 (42:28):
Question two? What shape is our fifty cent coin?

Speaker 13 (42:32):
Octagonal?

Speaker 5 (42:34):
It's a hexagon, oh sugar. How many size does a
hexagon have?

Speaker 7 (42:39):
It's got a light, do you am?

Speaker 8 (42:40):
I right?

Speaker 10 (42:41):
I believe it's six six.

Speaker 7 (42:44):
Eight? Yeah.

Speaker 6 (42:44):
Well you a man knows the octagon because you like
watching Colin McGregor.

Speaker 5 (42:48):
He's doing his kick in the face. What about that
the other day?

Speaker 1 (42:51):
For one minute long?

Speaker 5 (42:55):
Debra you're not going to have your friends over for
a long buffet to watch.

Speaker 6 (42:58):
That get away with you for the weekend and you
look after yourself that time. Deb, Thank you good on
your deb Instagram Back again on Monday if you'd like
to play Jonesdamanda dot com dot au on Gold Generation Gold.
It's Jonesy Demanda driving you home. We straddled many things
at this place media wise.

Speaker 9 (43:15):
Media wise, we're on this and that and semophores and pigeons,
et cetera. But Jenna, our social media guru, is even
more across everything than that.

Speaker 6 (43:25):
And she comes with her own introja and she loves cats.

Speaker 1 (43:30):
Snapcha.

Speaker 13 (43:31):
She's a social media girl.

Speaker 17 (43:33):
We like to call her social media.

Speaker 7 (43:38):
Pop pa pa. That's what the kids say.

Speaker 5 (43:41):
No one has ever said that, Jenna. Hello, Hello.

Speaker 9 (43:43):
A lot of people talking about this week from our content.
What bruises have we pushed?

Speaker 16 (43:48):
Yeah, So it's been a massive week across the Jones
and Amanda socials. And it all started when we broke
the news of Sam Neil's past. Oh yes, so we
posted a video of the both of you sharing your
own memories of Sam, including the time when he was
dedicated to helping us finish our Sherbet puzzle.

Speaker 7 (44:04):
Yeah, a Sherbet chigsaw.

Speaker 9 (44:05):
This was a jigsaw puzzle I had been given by
a friend and it was massive, and it was of
a record cover I think, or of a foldout from
a magazine of all the band members nude but covered
in kind of soap bubbles. Yeah, and yes, there's a
lot of hair and a lot of bubbles.

Speaker 5 (44:23):
And we needed Sam's.

Speaker 7 (44:24):
Help and Sam was very, very diligent.

Speaker 5 (44:26):
It's very thorough.

Speaker 6 (44:27):
I said, Sam, you beat him for a house, just
go home. You can only have to do it for
the filming purposes. But he really wanted to complete that puzzle.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (44:35):
So our videos reached over a million people across our socials,
with thousands of comments such as this one from Diane
on Facebook, who writes, I'm in shocked. I have followed
him for a long time on Facebook. He was so
happy around his farm animals and at his wineries. He's
much loved around the world. So very sad absolutely, while
us the dancing Tidiness on Instagram added I just feel

(44:58):
like I've lost a friend, even though he doesn't know me,
but the world did. He will be sadly missed by
so many.

Speaker 5 (45:04):
It's so true.

Speaker 9 (45:05):
And I saw someone today saying in the world of
Andrew Tates beer Sam Neil.

Speaker 7 (45:08):
Yeah, true, so true, more Nils less Tates.

Speaker 18 (45:11):
Yes, this week we went viral once again.

Speaker 7 (45:15):
What is it? Tinatchees Tuesday?

Speaker 18 (45:20):
And yes, it was rob with this conspiracy theory.

Speaker 8 (45:23):
What's Tuba, Iraq, Afghanistan, Venezuela and now Iran got in common?

Speaker 5 (45:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (45:31):
America has only attacked all those nations because they don't
have a Rothschalz Reserve Bank, meaning what because they were
taking Iran right, They're going to bring all the countries
in the world in conformity so they can bring in
the new World Order.

Speaker 18 (45:46):
So it's as simple as that.

Speaker 7 (45:48):
It sounds Legit sounds fine.

Speaker 5 (45:52):
Three million views for that?

Speaker 7 (45:54):
Yes, so did you say three million?

Speaker 16 (45:56):
Yes, it's received three million views. It keeps going up
as well. Instagram user wtf you're talking about? That was
the username wrote I learnt this twenty five years ago.
When I was a teenager, people used to call me
a conspiracy theorist. To actually see things playing out in
real time is crazy. While Scott ads that's not a conspiracy,

(46:17):
that's just a fat.

Speaker 7 (46:19):
Well welcome to the party.

Speaker 5 (46:21):
We've been schooled, Brendan.

Speaker 16 (46:24):
On another note, it's time for digital jenners. This is
when I choose my favorite contributor of the week who
will received.

Speaker 18 (46:32):
A bespoke tin hat made by a man's Yes.

Speaker 7 (46:35):
Any day now, I haven't seen day now.

Speaker 16 (46:38):
And this week it goes to Melissa, who private messaged
us saying, hope you too are well. Do you still
do what gets my gullies? I've never had one to
talk about until now. Let me know if you still
take people's brief rants and I'll clear this postmenopausal brain
fog and remember what it was.

Speaker 18 (46:56):
It was a funny one, I believe right.

Speaker 6 (46:58):
So last year when we were doing Breakfast Radio, Gets
my Goolies was a regular feature on the show many years,
and you could ring us or late in the later
part of our life on the iHeartRadio app, you recorded
on a little microphone and you record your gully It
could be anything like.

Speaker 15 (47:15):
What gets my goolies is when I take my dog
who eats everything, to the dog park and he's darts
heaving towards a small crowd and then proceeds to throw
up a pair of Miami's right there for the whole
world to see.

Speaker 7 (47:28):
This is the world we're living with you? Or do
you remember this one?

Speaker 8 (47:31):
I want to know what gets my goouolies? Ever since
COVID topless lingerie waitresses left the pub and they haven't
came back. How are we supposed to finish a Friday afternoon?

Speaker 1 (47:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (47:42):
That gets my goolies.

Speaker 7 (47:43):
Where have all the topless waitresses gone?

Speaker 5 (47:45):
I love that song?

Speaker 7 (47:46):
You know, maybe should we bring back? Gets my goolies?

Speaker 9 (47:49):
Because you going to say topless waitresses on a Friday afternoon.

Speaker 7 (47:53):
I'm stroking my chin. I'm happy for any any idea.

Speaker 9 (47:56):
It gets my goolies. There's a sort of a wingy
quality to it. We thought it doesn't suit the afternoon,
but you know what I think sometimes going into the
weekend like Friday, as we are today, maybe you need
to get stuff off your chest before you go into
the weekend.

Speaker 5 (48:11):
Maybe you could do.

Speaker 7 (48:11):
It like that, get stuff off, blow it off, blow it.

Speaker 9 (48:14):
Off Friday, blow it off, Friday off before you go
into the weekend, release it.

Speaker 5 (48:20):
Maybe you know that you've on Orange's duty again tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (48:24):
Amanda's blow off?

Speaker 5 (48:26):
No thank you? Why how does that end up being
Amanda's blow Okay?

Speaker 7 (48:30):
Look, it's not a bad idea workshop it. Thank you, Jenna.

Speaker 5 (48:34):
We like to call a dance.

Speaker 7 (48:38):
You know, I really think Amanda's blowing.

Speaker 5 (48:40):
Stop it.

Speaker 1 (48:42):
That's enough.

Speaker 7 (48:43):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (48:43):
I need to complain about how you treat me over
the weekend.

Speaker 7 (48:46):
I treat you like your princess.

Speaker 5 (48:49):
Have a good weekend.

Speaker 7 (48:50):
Have a good weekend, frendy.

Speaker 6 (48:51):
If you've missed anything on the show, Jonesie, Amanda dot
com dot au, good day to you.

Speaker 7 (48:57):
Well, thank god that's over.
