Speaker 1 (00:00):
Well, let's give it up for an anniversary, not just
my son's birthday, but twenty years ago. An incredible moment
happened on live television on the BBC. It was two
thousand and six, funnily enough, and a man called Guy.
Guy Gomer had a job interview at the BBC. So
he works in data support, a data support cleanser, whatever

(00:22):
that means. And he was called into the reception at
the BBC because he was having a job interview. So
he's sitting there politely waiting to be taken inside the
inside the chasm of the BBC for his job interview.
A staff member comes and says, is your name Guy?
And he says yes, say come with me. What happens
next has been immortalized as one of the greatest live

(00:43):
TV blunders of all time because the staff member who
approached him wasn't from it. The staff member was a
producer for News twenty four. The person called Guy the
producer collected wasn't Guy Cooney, who'd been booked to be
interviewed on the program, but Guy Gomer, who went along
for the ride by mistake. So two men called Guy

(01:05):
yep were in the foyer. Wait one was going for
an IT interview. One was being interviewed live on television
as an expert. So he's ushered onto the set, he's
micd up and he's seated in front of the camera,
and then before he knows it, the reporter introduces him
and what they are discussing was Apple Corporation versus Apple Computer,

(01:26):
a court case. Dreadful, and he's a bit of help, went.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
What does this all mean for the industry and the
growth of music online. Well, Guy Cuney is the editor
of the technology website to News Wireless. Hello, good morning
to you.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Good morning.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Were you surprised by this verdict today?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
I'm very surpleased to see mister verdict to come on
me because I wasn't expecting that a big surprise. Exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Yes, with regards to the cost that's involved. Do you
think now more people will be downloading online?

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Johnnie, If you can go everywhere you're gonna you're gonna
see a lot of people are downloading and a website
or everything they want.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
This does really seem to be the way the music
industry is progressing now that people want to go onto
the website and download music exactly exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
He said, afterwards, he thought, I don't want to embarrass anyone.
Something's going on. I'm not sure, so I tried my
best to breathe, to keep calm and get control of
the situation. He said his appearance was very stressful and
he was wondering why the questions weren't related to the
data support cleansing job. Did he get the job he
applied for? I don't know, but imagine when they realized
and then the person sitting in the foyer, who's the

(02:43):
expert looking up on that because they have TV monitors?
What That's how I ended up on the Today Show.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
I just walk in there once a week.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
It's happened again. Not again, not at the BBC. But
have a listen to this. This is in Argentina.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Don't just slam.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Let me explain here. This is a show that streaming
on Argentina's network, one of Argentina's networks, talking about UFOs
and they had a live segment where they booked a
UFO expert to discuss newly released released alien files. The
whole world's talking about this. What happened though, is the
man in the center of this he's been He's talking

(03:25):
via zoom he's not actually a ufologist. They've booked a urologist.
That's so good.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
That's great. But as long as you look good in
an airport lounge or a doctor's clinic or a prison,
it's okay.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
You're going to be okay.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
By and large, the sound is down.
