Let me explain what's happened. Yes, Marto, who's part of
the morning breakfast team there. Yeah, he knows you too well.
He doesn't particularly like you, Brendan. And he brought this
up on his show yesterday. Have a listen.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Yeah, there's a radio guy, the bait that started working
four b C Dean Miller.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
I was doing aroundo on his house. That's how I
got the job here.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Okay, that was in two thousand. There's a blood came
over one day because I was You're sitting around working
on a on a house.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
Your carpenter by trade was telling stories.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
So he brings home one of his radio mates, like
the guy who is Mitch back in two thousand.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
And named you want to name him? Yeah, what not?

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Brendan Jones. His name is he? And Amanda Amanda Keller.
I love Amanda Keller. She was really kind to me
when I started at Triple M. She was tripling Sydney. Okay,
this jonesy blake. He eventually ends.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Up with her.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
They've been on radio for like fifteen years or together.

Speaker 5 (02:13):
So he turns up with Dean Miller. You're working on
a job.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
We finished for the day.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
My dad's working for me as a carp and my mate, sure,
and I had an apprentice, keV. Okay, so there's two
Keves on side, my sign, my dad and my apprentice.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
No, he was actually.

Speaker 5 (02:25):
A carp Anyway, I had distract We started.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
We were drinking a few beers because Dean Miller used
to come home. He'd bring a cart and every day
hoping that we'd tell stories. I didn't even know he
was telling the stories on Triple M the next morning,
like we'd tell him yard.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
That's how I got onto radio.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
So this Brendan Jones turns up and he started criticizing
our work, like we're doing this big renot over at
Hawthorne and.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
He criticized your craftsmanship.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
And you've hold on to that for twenty years.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
I said, listen, mate, you can either leave by the
stairs or you'll be going your gravity to be helping
the over the edge of the balcony.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
How many beers deep were you? We only had two?
Had two, but you can't.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
He walked on the site on his motibike and pulled
his helmet off and walked up the stairs like a wanker,
and this would be careful about his working on radio.
Over confidence walked up and he started pointing out where
your mate, you're on radio? So we threatened and he
took off on his motorbike. And I've hated him ever since.

Speaker 5 (03:17):
He took personal offense to his criticism of your work.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
Do I have to apologize to him?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
No?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Probably he probably needs to.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Come and apologize to know that you're upset with him.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
He does. He has no idea that I'm upset.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
We do, apart from the threat to throw him off
the balcony until now twenty.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Five years did you have any idea that you had
upset him? Do you remember it at all?

Speaker 3 (03:34):
You know what hold your horses?

Speaker 2 (03:37):
He's had his say, Eddie MacGuire, I want to give
you some time to think about this. You get your
chances clear, and I know you do have a very
good memory.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
I have a good memory and I remember that day
very well.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Okay, well we'll do to your side of the story next, Well,
bombshell news. Brendan Jones is part of a few that
is not even away of. I just spoke earlier about
Marto Triple M Brisbane, who.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
On that's my alma mater. I worked at Triple M Brisbane.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Yeah, and it was one of the happiest times of
my life working at that radio station.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
We went at number one. Well we were killing it.
Then he had they're still doing it.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
He has other memories of how he felt when he
met you. Here's just some of what he had to
say on his show.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
So this Brendan Jones turns up and he started criticizing
our work, like we're doing this big renot over at
Hawthorne and that's it.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
He criticized your craftsmanship.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
He at the time wasn't in radio. He was a builder.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
As he said, that's right, and these were his final words.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
He walked on the site on his motibike and pulled
his helmet off and walked up the stairs like a wankert.
And this has been careful about his working on radio.
Over confidence walked up and he started pointing out where
your mate, you're on radio. So we threatened and he
took off on his motorbike and I've hated him ever since.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Well that's harsh. So from his let's establish what he
has said. He's working on a building site. He he
was a radio guy who was Jean Miller who would
come over, okay, who'd come over and you'd come over
with him and you criticized the building work he has done.
That's what he's rendering of events. Is I remember the
day very so you remember this.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I remember the day very very well.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Dean Miller was a good made of mine and he
was doing renovations on his house in Hawthorne, this big
old Queenslander, beautiful thing. And I was also doing renovations
in my house in Blimba, a neighboring suburb, and I
too needed some weather boards. So Dean and I were
talking at work and he said, man, I've got to
take one of these weather boards.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Come around and have a look. And I said, well, I'm.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
Not a builder, so I got my builder, Ian to
come around with me. What Marto, I think he's confused
me with An because we both went together, I said
to Ian, and Ian was a classic Queensland buildery.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Caused a spade a spade so he came round with me.
We met at the site.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
But I remember on that day that Ian was started,
you know, ragging on Marto and for his work, and
I said, oh, that's a bit rich. But I don't
know if Marto was in that circle. But I actually
heard Marto say, mate, you're gonna either go off the balcony,
but I didn't. I didn't know if I don't know
if he thought that I said that, or if indeed

(06:16):
Ian said.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
So, what you think has happened is that Ian has
been critical of.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Now I was there when you witness.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
You think though that Marto thought it was you?

Speaker 5 (06:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Yeah, Are you surprised to hear that this feud has
gone on for like twenty six years and you didn't
even know about it?

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Well?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Yeah, because I don't think i've seen Have we seen
Marto since you know radio functions?

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, I don't remember.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Well, you've met a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Well, I do know this about you, Brendan. You have
an extremely good memory.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
I remember that.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Well, I'll say this, it wasn't two thousand and one,
because I was in Sydney in two thousand and one
a triple m in Sydney. It was nineteen ninety seven,
because I remember that that was the year my daughter
was born and we got the renovations, were doing the
renovations from the front of the house in Wilder Street
in Bolimba there.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
So either way, it wasn't you, it was what we
building and Dean Ian Ian. Maybe Ian should have got
a radio gig cranky.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Wasn't craiky what Ian would do? And I remember this
is what gave me the flashback. I remember being embarrassed
because he was really going to town on Mardo's work,
and to me it looked fine, this big Queenslander. It
was dubbed Winfield Palace because it was Winfield blue in color, and.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
That was the cigarettes that Dean was smoking at the time.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Well, who would have thought that, all these years later
this would have erupted on Brisbane radio. Who would have
thought he'd get a job on radio? Accuse you of
being a nearsayer about his work, and he has as
he says, Hey, did you ever say?

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Well, I only criticize what I know, and I know
Radio possibly should have got to the point a bit
quick at their mutto.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Now.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
But other than wow, putting up two by fours and
all that, I don't. I don't know thing about building?

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Okay, okay, and what about the wink of it? That's
fair enough, that's fair enough, walk like a cat. Oh yes,
you can't. All right, well, we might put this to
the tribal dramas we get on. We're getting more, but
let's try and get him more. I think we need
to have this feud.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Now, what's sort of a feud?

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Well, in his eyes, it's a massive feud in your eyes, no,
but in his massive.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Take a number, we'll get to that. Well.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
I have no real filling towards him. Okay, Well, if
you're going to sort that out, I'll

Speaker 2 (08:33):
Sort it out, Brandon, don't you worry
