Speaker 1 (00:00):
If you're listening to the Jonesy and Demander podcast. We
haven't heard much from Kanye West lately, have we. No,
he's got to be quiet on the whole mental side
of things. Well for a while there, probably when he
was married to Kim Kardashin, and not long after. He
was famous for his designs, his shoe designs, his clothing designs,
his architectural designs, his music. My son in particular loves

(00:23):
his music, which I'm neither here nor there about. He's
no Glen Campbell. Let's put it that way, Brendan. He
is no Glen camp No, no one would say they
were the same person. But this isn't in intriguing story.
It's ended up in court. He bought house not long
after he and Kim Kardashin broke up. The house was

(00:45):
a specially architecturally designed home that he bought for the
equivalent for Australian dollars eighty million dollars back then, Yeah,
back then. He bought an eighty million dollar home in
Malibu in September twenty twenty one, so this is just
months after he split with his former wife. He then
hired someone to do his own form of renovations, and

(01:09):
who would you hire to do that, Someone who you
think would be cutting edge in this field, someone whose
work you've always admired and designed as a desired as
an architect or a designer. He hired Tony Saxon, a
rare record dealer and an unlicensed contractor. He hired him
to gut the property. So within months, the luxury residence

(01:29):
was reduced to a concrete shell. As per Kargne's demands, windows, plumbing,
which I'll get to in a minute, electricity were all removed.
He wanted some full off grid kind of experience. It
was suggested by some that by some of his critics
that he gutted this house as a jab to his
ex wife. This move spiked outrage amongst architectural fans, who

(01:53):
slammed the wrapper four well, destroying the property. So this
is where the lawsuit happens. Mister Saxon, the aforementioned rare
record dealer and non licensed contractor, said that he's wanting money,
He's a million dollars out of pocket. But also he

(02:14):
said he sustained a broken neck while working on the site.
So this house Kane West eventually put this gutted home
on the market for fifty three million dollars, right, it's
taking a bit of a bit of a haircut there. Well,
then he failed to find a buyer at that price.
He ultimately accepted a twenty one million dollar it's even
more of a haircut from a developer. And it's unclear

(02:36):
what state the property currently in is in. But let's
get to what he's actually done to this house. He
bought this architecturally designed, beautiful home. Got a picture here.
It looks like it's it looks like something straight out
of Bay Route. It looks like it's something that's been bombed.
So this is what this mister Saxon has said, is

(02:57):
that he wanted nothing is quote that he gave to
Rolling Stone. He wanted no toilets, so that if someone
wanted to go number two, it was a hole in
the ground. He wanted the house to be a modernist bunker.
So if you went around a Kanne West house doesn't
have any electricity, doesn't have any plumbing, and if he

(03:18):
wanted to go and do a poop, you'd have to
this multi million dollar rapper in this multi million dollar house,
you had to go in a hole in the ground.
Explains this song Poopy Do scoop scoop di dee whoopoop.
If only had written songs about plumbing, we'd all be
better off. He likes stripping things back. He's houses, he's missus,

(03:39):
all of it, all of it.
