Speaker 1 (00:10):
It's where Amanda and I share a microphone and I'm
happy for it.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
No, I'm not. I'm just doing the DJ stuff and
then you can do your talenty bits.
Speaker 3 (00:17):
This is where we make recipes you may have seen
on TikTok. This is from a guy, an Australian guy
called Toby Wilson, who I follow on socials. And he
often makes things from old Australian cookbooks. And some of
them are horrendous and he'll acknowledge that. This one he
thinks is pretty good. It's Wheat Bix Gnocchi. So it's
taking classic Aussie Wheat Bix but making a pasta sauce
(00:38):
with them or a pasta.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
I like when Gem Y Rice says Gnocchi. Go and
say Gnocchi.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Gnocchi. You were hoping he was going to say Gnocchi,
weren't you? So we start with seven Wheat Bix. There's
a couple of steps in this process. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
We break up the Wheat Bix in the bowl. Seven
Wheat Bix. I add boiled water to this, and the
point is I've got boiled water, eggs, and flour, and
to make kind of like a porridge-y paste. Watch your hands.
(01:08):
I'm about to pour boiling water in.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
I've got some good ASMR going.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
All right, that'll do. I need to pour this in now. Okay,
I'm adding. How much do you reckon?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
About that? That looks like about a cup of hot water.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
No, that wasn't a cup, I don't think. You put
your hands in. I'm supposed to stir it all up.
I'm going to use a knife.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Is it a bad luck to stir with a knife?
Speaker 3 (01:28):
I've never heard that. So I'm stirring, stirring, stirring.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
You do that.
Speaker 3 (01:32):
You do that.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
It's bad luck, though.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
Add to board water. Now we add in two eggs.
You ready? Yep. Two eggs are going in. There's one egg.
And here's another egg. I think we might need a spoon.
Are you okay with that?
Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Another egg. And then we add a cup of flour.
You ready for the cup of flour?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Well, you're really going quickly on this.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Well, we kind of have to or else you'll say
I'm going too slowly. Let me get my hands in there.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Get your hands in there.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
It's like Nonna used to make.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Oh, it is hot. Boarding water.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Can you move over?
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Move out of the way.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
So I'm mashing. I'm going to munch all this up.
Once I've done that, what you can do is get
some of that flour and put it all over the desk, please.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Over the desk?
Speaker 3 (02:17):
I know you don't like to do this. We've got
to make a floured surface so I can roll it
into a log.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
I hate this.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Oh, it's hot too.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, because it's hot.
Speaker 3 (02:25):
Okay, hurry up.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
I've got it on my fingers. Okay. Righty-o. Just a
liberal amount.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
Oh, can you get my microphone out of the way? Okay.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
That's as liberal as you get, eh?
Speaker 3 (02:39):
So we just, I don't even know what that means.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Right-o.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Now, we just are going to roll this into some
big kind of pasta log.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Okay, like a dough.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Like a dough. And then I'm going to roll it
into some long stringy bits and chop them up so
they're like gnocchi.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah. What do you think? It looks like a gnocchi consistency.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
It's actually coming together quite well considering. All right. Well,
we'll come back.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Well, you keep doing that.
Speaker 3 (03:06):
I'll keep doing this.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
You keep kneading it.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
All right.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
And we'll come back and see how it's all going.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
All right.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
On the other side of this.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Gold, hello there, it's Jonesy and Amanda driving you home.
It's TikTok Tucker Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
When we last.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Left Mama Nana, Amanda, behind, in honour, she's making the
old time gnocchi. I'm making, I'm making Weet-Bix gnocchi. And
the whole time those songs have been playing, you've been
(03:42):
upsetting everyone on the team because you've been using too
much flour and interfering. This is not for you, Brendan.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
I haven't interfered with anyone on the team.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Okay, what's happening now? We've got seven Wheat Bix, we've
got boiled water, two eggs and a cup of flour.
So we now have our pasta, Wheat Bix pasta. We
roll it out into a long roll.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
So we can slice it to make our gnocchi. Is
that a bit smaller? A bit smaller. I don't want
to roll it because it's not the right, it's Weet-Bix.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Because it hasn't got enough flour on it?
Speaker 3 (04:11):
No, it's got so much flour.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
It's sticking a bit, is it?
Speaker 3 (04:15):
No, it's not actually. It's not sticking at all. And
it wouldn't have either. Okay, that's a nice long log.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
And here's another nice long log. Yep. It looks like
a snake. It's a bit scaly because we've got so
much flour on it.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Are we happy with that, Brendan?
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Yeah, it looks good. Good.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Okay, what I do now is I use this knife
to slice it into gnocchi bits. There's one.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Do you use the knife upside down like that?
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Yeah, I do. That's the point.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Right.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Thank you for questioning.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Well, ironically, it's not because you're using the other side.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
No, I'm not. I'm using the flat side.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
That's what you use.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Is that what you use?
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah. Mr.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
I know how to make gnocchi, he said, and told
everyone to rack off. Although Jacinda's an excellent cook and
cooks Italian all the time because she's Italian. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
All right.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
These are our gnocchi bits.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
It just looks a bit sloppy.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
It does a bit. Not because of the flour.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
No.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
It's just because it's a frigging wheat bit.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I don't know what the matter with you is.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Okay, so what happens now? We are going to put
this into some boiling water. We're going to heat up
some pasta sauce.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
We're not going to stand and watch water boil, are we?
Speaker 3 (05:12):
Well, it'd be more entertaining than this.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Of course.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
And then we are going to bring it to the
boil in boiling water and then add some pasta sauce
and then you can frigging eat it.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
I think it's already come to the boil in here. Okay,
so what we'll do.
Speaker 3 (05:24):
I just said what we're going to do.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
And we'll get digital genitive followers and people on Instagram Live.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Let's do it. We'll do it live. We'll put Instagram
Live and we'll come back.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
But if you want to watch us boil water, join
Instagram Live right now.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, please. JonesyandAmanda.com. Is it? What's our thing? Jonesy and Amanda.
Jonesy and Amanda. Yeah, do that. Coming up.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Now with added flour.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Wheat Bix Gnocchi like Nonna used to make. Gold, hello there.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
It's Jonesy and Amanda driving you home. It's a three-stage
TikTok Tucker today.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
You hungry?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
TikTok.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
I enjoy cooking bacon and stop working with Flo.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
You're making slaps.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Flo and Amanda, talk about it. What are you?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
We're gonna make you go, yeah. We make food from
TikTok and eat it today. What are we eating?
Speaker 3 (06:08):
It's Wheat Bix Gnocchi. This is the moment of truth,
or the moment of the truth, as Miguel would say.
Seven Wheat Bix, boiled water, two eggs, a cup of
flour has made these gnocchi, which... Which have held their
shape in the boiling water. They look a little bit
like brains, but they've held their shape. So I'm going
to put a few of those in the bottom. Don't panic, Ryan.
Look at Ryan's little face.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
You'll be all right, mate. Yeah, they do. It looks
like meatballs. The IKEA meatballs sans the sauce.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Or sans the proper colour. Okay, so I've got three
little gnocchis in there. We're to market.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
Because largely gnocchi is always, well, it's usually made with potato.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
So here we are using Weet-Bix instead of potato.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Let me take that lid off there.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
So financially, is it much of a saving?
Speaker 3 (06:55):
I don't know if you'd do this for the finance.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Now, what tomato sauce have we got here? We've got the.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Legos.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Legos. We're not using Mutti.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
I'm going to put this on top.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Because I love Mutti.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
So put that there.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
That's a lot of sauce.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, well, to disguise the flavour of the Wheat Bix.
And now I'm just going to put some Parmesan.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Cheese on top. Okay, you've got good, yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Ready? Yep. Watch out, it's going to be a bit
of a mess. Here comes some Parmesan. Nice. There you go.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
No, it smells good.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
Okay. Now I'm going to, Ryan. Yeah. This one's yours.
I don't think you need a spoon. I think just
a fork should do it. In you go. And you
have to try everything. Okay.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
Yep. And.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Brendan, here you go. Try everything.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Thanks, Nonna Giuseppe.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Nonna Giuseppe, what a confused family. All right, mix it up.
Take a bit of the Wheat Bick. It's like a
rubber ball. Can you break into it?
Speaker 2 (07:48):
If I had a blindfold on, I'd feel it's knocky.
Let's go in. Okay. Oh, wow.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah. Yeah. That is really good.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
It actually works.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
What do you think, Ryan? I like it.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
If they were smaller, they're too big for gnocchi. It
was hard to roll them smaller in the time we had.
If they were smaller, I think they'd be perfect gnocchi.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I think it's perfect gnocchi.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
That surprisingly tastes very nice.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
I think that's amazing. Maybe a bit of pepper, maybe
a bit of salt.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
Yeah, but I think the concept works weirdly.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Maybe a little bit more flour on the gnocchi.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Okay. The concept works.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
I say two thumbs up.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah, I do too.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Just like Nonna used to make.
