of the tragic bungee jump disaster. It was something I
didn't even want to talk about because at first, when
I saw it pop up in my phone, I thought
it was AI.

I didn't know what to think. And then I heard
it on mainstream news and I thought there must be
some truth to this because.

So when it popped up in the in my feed,
and you've seen what actually happened, and what I'm saying
is most people have seen this by now, and this
is what we're dealing with modern media. We don't have
people fact checking or anything like that, so they just
put it out there. We still have a bunch of
guidelines and stuff like that we have to adhere to,
and I don't want to panic people or cause people
stress by seeing something that's AI slop. But what we

have is this poor Brazilian student and she's going bungee
jumping over this skeleton bridge over in Brazil. It's got
three guys, they pick her up, they toss her off
the bridge, but no one's connected the bungee horrendous And
the reason I thought it was fake first of the AI,
and then I thought it was set up because the
camera person standing behind zoomed straight onto the curled up

I thought, in what world would someone do that? Do
you know what I mean?

It wouldn't be because someone go she's not connected to that thing.
I just can't believe we're in this point in our
lives where someone doesn't notice this stuff. And you know,
I wouldn't in a third wall country go extreme sporting
because it's extreme enough going to that particular country.

She lives there, so she's got there, so there's a
degree of familiarity. But then maybe this is part of
the urban myths when we were kids, remember the urban
myth that would come out and that's how you got
your urban myth. So AI or these stories, we can't
differentiate between what's real and what's not anymore. And even
online and if you look at the comments, people are
still saying this is set up? Is it actually true?

Well, even going back a step further from what you
just said is that this was an unregulated extreme sport activity.
But because of Instagram, people are going to more and
more lengths to do to do it for the gram,
to do things that before were you would not have.
You're taking more risks for the sake of saying, look
where I'm traveling, Look what I'm doing. But yeah, you're

right in that where are we're such a post truth
world that we look at something and don't believe it's real.
Is that good or bad? That we don't believe things anymore?
I don't know.

Yeah, the old thing of question everything.

We're talking to the girls here, and one theory was
that the reason the harness wasn't attached, because my thing
was how in what world would you bungee jump and
not look after yourself and think is this thing connected?

But she was assuming because her face wasn't facing where.

When they're putting a harness on, you know, I've never
bungee jumped.

No harness. They're just going to tie it around her feet?
I think, weren't they.

There's going to be there will be something, there will
be an attachment. So do you worry about you?

You think she's got the harness on. I can't see
Hannah was not attached.

Often they just tie that, and those at the more
extreme levels of this sport, they just tie your feet right,
And her feet were behind her. She was being held
aloft like a surfboard above their heads.

So she's probably assuming that someone's tired of feet.

Because the other theory was because she was such an
attractive girl, the guys were distracted by her beauty, so
they were flirting and doing.

All that and not paying attention to the rules.

But then I argued, years ago, we did one of
those indoor skydiving things.

You remember that.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
You came along, My wife came along, my daughter came along.
My daughter was eighteen at the time. I couldn't do
it because I just had a motorcycle accident and busted
my back. So they went in. Now the guy, the
guy with romany romany was eighteen at the time. Out
of his way to fuss about her, he kind of
threw the harnesses at the two middle aged women.

There you go, loves, you'll be right sort yourselves out.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
But with my daughter is going, okay, sweet peple, let's
just make sure everything's tie. I'll just say this, just
firstly question everything and secondly check the harness if anything.

I've done a bungee jump and you'd ask me this earlier,
he said, Were you uber aware of all of that?
And I was in New Zealand a well known place,
Queenstowne to do it. There's a level of assumption that
people know what they're doing.

I'm not.

I'm not the sort that's going to quadruple check things.
That's not me. I just assume I passed my responsibility
to whether it's good or bad because I don't know
how to tie, and not just to stop me careering
off on a bungee jump. I don't know how to
do that. I trust that the people I'm paying do
this for a living and know how you do it,
which is what she would have thought. Is just a tragic,

still a horrender, surrendous story. But you're right, we don't
know what's real anymore, and in the end.
