Speaker 1 (00:00):
Going right around the country with the biggest Dozzy hits
at night. It's made gild for Oz made and going
around the country with like sixty stops. If she's not
stopping somewhere near you will. I have no idea where
you live, because Amy Shark, they see you somewhere. Tour
it is taking over throughout this month and we're absolutely
stoked for it to take some time and have a
bit of a chat to us, Amy Shark, thanks for

(00:20):
coming on. I was made again.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
What's up? Thanks for having me again?

Speaker 1 (00:23):
Well, I absolutely adore talking to you, excuse the pun.
And last time you set me a challenge when you're
playing in hober and I said, can I come and
say hello and like go to the biggest bouncer and
say that? And I did, and my wife and I
got backstage and we brought you snakes.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Oh yes, incredible.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
I dropped every name. It did work. So now I'm
looking forward to seeing you again on a bunch of
these regional stops that you've got coming up. Sixty shows
like due to popular.

Speaker 2 (00:51):
De man, Yeah, it's because they keep getting added. It's
sixty five, sixty five shows. There's no more shows to
be added. I said, because I got a bit worried.
I was like they were starting to sell out and
they just kept adding shows and I'm like, this is great.
But when do we stop? I wonder because like before,
I sort of just die.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
He's the regional stops as well. Amy, is there some
places that you haven't been before? They were excited to see?

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Oh my god, so many places I haven't been before. Ever.
I have been to a lot of regional Australia, but
like I've never been to like Carafa. I don't think
I've been to men Dura or Biola. Sounds like diseases
or Horsham or Canundra Conunda.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
You're going to have to practice. You're going to have
to practice some of the pronunciation that's do.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Each night, I pour a big glass of wine and
I like, look at where the hell I'm going.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
And I just start laughing, Oh, don't do it, guns
and roses.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I've done that three times. It's fine. I've been I'm
close to being canceled for doing that. It's wild, like
that's your thing. I did it in the Gold Coast
actually I know, but I did back to backs then
like I did Gold Coast and then I did Brisbane,
and when I was in Brisbane, I said gold coaching.
But then I recovered because I'm really smart and wiky
and people love me anyway, so it's fine, but it

(02:10):
was still it was a heart attack moment. I'm gonna
stop for a good three seconds.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
I had to see the national anthem and an awards
night that I was up for two awards with and
I got the words wrong and had to stop. And
then I made a big political statement that they don't
teach it in the school so anymore, so I don't
know what they are, so they can't blame me. And
everyone stood up and cheered. That's what you've got to do.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
See it's great, Yeah, exactly like live your life, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
And you're living a pretty sweet life. We're all so
proud of you, and you're one of these Australian artists
that you know, we suffered from a bit of tall
poppy syndrome. But I think everyone just absolutely loves what
you are doing, Amy Shark as an artist, how you're
representing us right around the world. You're working with some
incredible people and the success, you know, the Platinum is
the Arias and all that just kind of comes along
with it, But you've got to be pretty stoked with

(02:54):
how everything's going for the Amy Shark experience.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
I am, yeah, and I can probably thank COVID for
giving me some time to really sit and be like,
I'm really happy, you know, I'm like really happy with
where I'm sort of at right now and are super
paranoid about someone's going to take it away or it's
not going to I don't know. I was just really paranoid.
But I'm good now and I'm confident, and yeah, it's
just nice.

Speaker 1 (03:17):
I think we can hear a little bit of that
as well, Amy, with the way that your songs are
progressing as well. Obviously you've still got that bit of
angst and anxiety in your writing, you know, you know,
the lyrics like about I know it is never good
enough and all that sort of thing. But is that
something that we're going to see continue to progress because
we know you love writing a good sad song.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Oh yeah, I'm I'm always testing myself and challenging myself,
and this next phase I'll go through in songwriting and
with the next sound will definitely be different and pretty exciting.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
That is exciting, Yeah, I mean, even your power you
know you're now in a big oversized pink jumper.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I know, Like what I am.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
Where's the added that's tracky suit?

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah, I still there, it's still hanging around. I've got
inner added as inside my soul.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Yeah, and we're sure there'll be there'll be a costume
change or two during the show, surely, like there was
for tour.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Definitely. It's like very stressful doing that, you know. Oh yeah,
I have very limited time to make that change. Ye.
I can really respect what Pink and Taylor and Katy
Perry and what they do now.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, you just have to get like the pop button
thingies that they used to have on, like the you
can strip them off.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah, and you do it back to my stripper days.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Bring the big heels out as well, the big go
go boots looking out. A bit of a different show,
I guess. But it's gonna be a little bit of
a different show too, because we've got some theater stops
as well, because I know the long Sesstem one where
I'm originally from Princess Theater that's like over one hundred
year old theater with a thousand seats in it. Like
that's a bit of a different feel, oh, that'd be awesome.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
I think that's what I'm most looking forward to is
is rocking up to different towns and just seeing what
the venues like and seeing what cool cafes and restaurants
and meet the people and yeah, it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Well, there's plenty of stops to meet the people, and
I'm going to be meeting you because Princess Theoter done,
my name is written under every desk of those, so
I'm going to be sneaking in, so you better be
ready for your orange snakes.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
I hope so well.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
We very much look forward to seeing Amy Shark see
you somewhere. The Australian saw so many dates we'll have
to check them all up on our face here on
the website. For you, Amy, thanks so much for joining
us here and spending some time on I was may
You're my favorite to talk.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
To you, bube Ah, thank you. I appreciate. It's always
a good chat, isn't it. I always have a lot
of fun with you.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Just here's a quick little side note. You know how
your father in law was like, what's the parking like
in Hobart, Tasmania. We sat there for like two hours
to try and get out like Michelle who had a
few bebies. My wife, hemette. She got out of the
car and stood in the middle of the street and
just stopped cars so we could get out.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
It was awful.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
So make sure you let him know. Make sure you
let him know. No, don't be sorry. It was a
ripper of the show. Just let him know. Awesome. I'm
going to let you go.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Okay, what's up. This is hamp what's up. This is
Amy Shark and you're listening to Maddi Garwood on OZMDE. Hey,
this is Amy Shark and you're listening to Maddie Garo
on OZMDE. And he told me to say that he
