Speaker 1 (00:00):
Going right around the country with the biggest Sozzi hits
at night for oz May it's Mattie Gal And when
you say Shepherd and country music, you might get a
little bit confused, But there is nothing but wild because
Amy Shepherd. She's off on a bit of a wild ride,
a bit of solo project that she's doing at the moment.
I saw her up there with some fellow tazzy boys
that the Wolf Brothers, and she's joining us right now,
(00:20):
taking a little bit of a time out from rehearsal
and the stewed Amy Shepherd. What's going on.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I'll see you again, Matt. Oh, Matt, it's been so busy,
but things are good, Yeah, very good.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Last time I saw you was up on stage opening
up for Delta. What a wild ride that was. It
was so cool, I said to you. Even the best
part about the postponements and stuff with Bridge over Troubled
Dreams was that she ever got to join on and
we got to see you guys open for.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
De That's right, Silver Linings. Yeah, it was the most
incredible tour. Like Delta is, as you know, so lovely.
She's so genuine. What you see is what you get,
and she just made us feel so welcome her whole crew.
It was just such a professional all tour to be
a part of, and we felt so lucky to be
out there with her.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
We were lucky to have Shepherd there as well. And
now getting an extra dose of Amy Shepherd with your sous.
How did this come about?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
I know it might seem a little like left of field,
but I've been wanting to do this for a really
long time. Growing up, I was listening to a lot
of country music. My dad's a huge fan. Always been
in the back of my mind. Obviously, Sheppard happened organically
and naturally life took me in the pop genre direction,
but it's always been in the back of my mind
to do this. So I'm finally coming out with some
country pop music and I finally released the single nothing
(01:32):
but Wild a couple of weeks ago in Tamworth. You know,
so far, so good.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Yeah, we are actually spinning at heaps and we were
talking to Morgan Evans as well this week about the crossover,
like the pop genre country music to new fans, is
that what you're finding too? A bit? Amy?
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Absolutely, country music is so many things. It's not just
you know, the traditional bluegrass. You know, it's pop country,
and it's America. So many different genres within country. I
think it's nice to push the boundaries and just be
able to collaborate with someone you might not normally collaborate
and you come up with something completely different. I was
worried crossing genres, you know, I didn't know how it
would be deceived by the country music fans and the
(02:09):
other artist. Well, like, you know, coming from a totally
different territory. But everyone was so nice a time worth,
Everyone was really welcoming and everyone everybody wanted to collaborate,
and you know, that's an industry that I just am
really excited to be a part of.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
And did Emma and George in particular have any influence
on any of the stuff that's coming out with the
Sarwak project.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Look, I think they'll always have an influence on me,
one way or another. Emma's actually been my stylist recently
and she held my music video which is coming out soon.
And I've done a bit of writing with George actually,
because you know, obviously you make such a good writing
team together. You know, we're always together. So we've written
a couple of songs. He does have I think one
or two writing credits, just because I'm a generous sister,
(02:52):
Like You'll just come by and be like, what are
you like showing the song, and then he'll just come
out with this like amazing, undeniable. Also writing credits from
the Wolf Brothers and Crimes is a big country music. Yeah.
He's Australian and it was like such a treat to
work with him. I'm actually going back to Nashville end
of the month. I'm going to La and then Nashville.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Your style and your image is something that is really
well associated with Amy Shepherd. That is continuing to grow
with your body positivity, which is really cool, ain't. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Look, I just you know, I have a platform now,
I've worked hard at growing a great community, a really
positive community. So I just thought, you know, just be
honest with my fans with my struggles with my own
body image and share with them what I've learned along
the way.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Now to explore that with this, I don't want to
call it a side project. This what's the best way
to describe.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
It for you know, it's just like it's like an
extension of myself extension.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
That's cool, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Extension of what I already do, and it's just exploring
who I am as an artist outside of Shepherd as
well is really important. It's going to help me grow
within the band, and I think they're going to compliment
to each other while still staying authentic to myself, Like
I'm not going to come out in the stage and
like put on a country drawer and pretend that I
grow and everything, Yeah, exactly, impartial to a good hat
(04:08):
and happening. Yeah yeah, but you know, I have got
to do it my way and make sure it's authentic
to something that I would do naturally.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
If there is the one fundamental of that genre, we
can throw off any sound and anything, but it is
a really natural way of storytelling. What's the story that
we're getting with nothing? But wow?
Speaker 2 (04:26):
I think the Wild is a story about escaping the
city because obviously I'm from Brisbane and I just love
to get away any chance that I can because it
can get really overwhelming, and it's just about finding a
sense of adventure. And as the song develops, you realize
it's about having somebody to share all the best things
in life with. So obviously I have a husband, got
married and we go out and just like get away
and manage to like escape.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
I'm excited for this venture and hope that you guys
love the new stuff coming.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
We already do, Amy Shepherd. We love what you're doing,
we love your authenticity. We're going to play it. Let's
spin it right now. Hey nothing, but what would you
like to throw it to the track for me? Amy?
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Sure? Hey everybody, this is Amy Sheppard and this is
my new track, nothing but Wild on OZ made
