Speaker 1 (00:00):
A little bit of film of plum, some fresh stuff
playing here and I was made.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
We're going right around the country with the biggest I's
hits at night and the beautiful back seat of a
Mustang is on show with some more brand new stuff
from the cat Grata Let It Go, featuring Charlie Lane
on the vocals, bit of our beatsy groove to this
husky Delight, and we're actually catching up with her right now.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Kat, thanks for coming on telling us a little bit
about the brand new one.
Speaker 3 (00:21):
Oh, thanks for having me. Yeah, it's been a few
weeks now since Let It Go was released. I was
just lucky enough to work with Charlie on this one.
He's got such a great voice and really fun to
make the video as well, with the Mustang and the
drums outside.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
So how did it come about for you being a
drummer and songwriter yourself.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
It's not something that we necessarily see so much of.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
Yeah, I know, it's kind of different. I'll play a
bit of piano as well, so that helps with writing
the songs. I just jumped on the piano and did
some accords and worked out the melody. I really like
to use the drums to drive the song.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
It's really cool.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I mean, we're seeing probably the epitome of it at
the moment is someone like your g flips and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
But do you sing at all as well?
Speaker 3 (01:06):
I do sing a little bit. I don't really consider
myself as singer, but you know, I'm comfortable doing backups
and things like that, but I like to leave the
singing to the probe.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
And with that, getting Charlie Lane on the vocals of
this one, did you know them previously or how did
the friendship and relationship build?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
No, Well, it was just a real freak accident where
I got to the studio and I didn't even have
my singer organized yet. I hadn't got anyone locked in,
and then my producer, Lindsey, he said, oh, have you
heard of Charlie. He's been another band that I'll play
his vocal and I had to listen and I thought, oh,
(01:45):
that's perfect, that's just so lucky. So yeah, we went
ahead with him and.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Getting Charlie on the vocals.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Did he have any influence in the writing or the
lyrics or that was all just presented to him and
that came from yourself.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
With that cat?
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Yeah, yeah, so he just ropped up to the studio
and I put the music out to him and we
went through everything there. He nailed it pretty much on
the fairs take. He's awesome.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
And how do you go about kat presenting that to someone?
Obviously it's come from a place of your own inspiration,
getting someone else to sing the message that you want.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Oh look, it's been pretty good for now. I just
hope that when you know, when the singers can read
the lyrics on the page, that they can bring their
own interpretation to the song as well. If they don't
sort of bring what I originally imagined, I can then
just explain, you know, you maybe think about this image
or that image, and yeah, how we go with it?
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Then?
Speaker 1 (02:38):
What was the image with let It Go that came
to you?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Cat?
Speaker 3 (02:41):
So Let It Go for me was just about living
my dreams, you know, doing something that I've always wanted
to do, and just feeling that freedom that it brings,
just doing what you want to do, you having the
courage to do it.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
What was the beach that the film clip was filmed at?
Speaker 3 (02:57):
So that was down at Courtsy London Bridge. It's a
bit of a tourist attraction. Actually, it's stunning down there.
There were quite a few people.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I was going to ask people around watching.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah, it was pretty funny. I was, you know, set
the drums up on the beach and I started playing
and then all these people just started looking down from
the cliff, probably thinking what is going on down there?
Such a cool place to be?
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Was it filmed with a drive? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Well actually she was amazing so Hatley.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, and what about the car? Is that your Mustang?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
No? I got I wish pretty cool car and I
can't believe that. Actually let me drive it, just driving it,
feeling super neeres the whole time, and it was great. Yeah,
I'd love to drive it again.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Taking things to the next level as well. Obviously, Get
up and Go is what we're working towards.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
My AP is coming out this Friday. It's a four
track AP a similar style. Oh yeah, yeah, lots of
drums and heavy on the keys. Got Charlie singing on
it too.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Are you doing a launch for it or where can
we find out all the details?
Speaker 3 (04:04):
You can visit my website for the details or follow
me on Insta. And I'm doing a gig this Saturday
at the Tote at the bandroom.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
Cool.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
It's a four band lineup, so it should be fun awesome.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Well, if they can't make it down, we're going to
give a little taste of it and play your brand
new one right now.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
This is let It Go, okat Grena. Would you like
to introduce it for me. We'll give it a spin.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
