Speaker 1 (00:04):
We got to finish.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
But yeah, speaking of finishes, who joins us now Thursday
night for the Broncos? Who? He just looks like that
is like, do we have to dumb button? That was
a tough way to finish the season, wasn't it?
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Mate?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
That was hard and I'm sure for everyone to watch
that was that would have been hard. So what happened?
I actually I really couldn't tell you. I just I could.
I just feel like it's sort of summed up. I
guess the season we had. And they're the best team
in the camp for a reason. Yes, And I feel
like that game sort of showed. There were parts of
(00:47):
that game where I was like, you know, we're on top,
we're getting over you know, we're doing our job, we're
doing well, and then you know we drop the ball
or a penalty against and then or you know, just
completely stuffed up. And I feel like that just summed
up our season just because you know, I feel that's
just how the whole season went. We had a great start,
really good roll on and then just from there it
(01:09):
was a massive fight after twelve rounds.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
So yeah, so you reckon the store. I think the
storm will be grand finalists you reckon.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and who's that's the one I think
is the hard one. Like Storm can be beaten, but
I don't feel like they can be. Like just with
how they are playing at the moment, even when they're
gonna even then they're like that gritty fight, they'll for
(01:38):
some reason find a way out. I always do, and
then they'll just look and they'll score two three tries.
So fas so is it in the head, You're just
like where they come from.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Like they just are unbeatable in their own minds, because I.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Feel they've got a really good mix at the moment.
They just know, you know, they're so skillful, but they
all work so hard for each other, and you know,
and you get all that working together and you know,
coming together every week and every week they've done that,
and they're like it's pretty hard to stop. And Jerome
is I don't know, he's just he's making that and
(02:12):
I look so easy at the moment. So no, it's not,
it's not that he is.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
And so so what happens now for the Bronx. You guys,
the games over, you had, you had your mad Monday
on Friday week, that's stay care of So what happens
now for the team is it is everyone on holidays?
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Well, yeah, they kind of start I think today tomorrow meeting,
so they sort of wrap the year up. You have
all your performance meetings, coach meetings, and then medical stuff
and if you need to get things fixed, surgery or
they'll tell you what to look after.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
And so you said to us last week that and
you know, if you want to tell us anything, go ahead.
But you said that that you are really good at
convincing people. So is this the time that you go
into the club and.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Do My performance on Thursday wasn't on the start? That's
all I do you. Will you struggle?
Speaker 2 (03:08):
You've got such a you had such an awesome career.
Will you struggle to make that your final? Final outing?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Yeah, that's what a lot of people have said. And look,
and that's why I said, it's not going to be
an easy decision no matter what I do. You know,
I feel like it's getting a lot harder to keep going.
But you know, I've enjoyed a lot of the games
I've played this year, and that's that's the part you
need to understand. If you're still enjoying it, you know,
(03:35):
if they're still enjoyment and you unhappiness and in the
game like it's it's really hard to stop. So yeah,
that's why I keep saying it's going to be a
decision for the whole family sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
And one that's still pending.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
Then yeah, it is. It is still pending. I promise
you that.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
Before you tell I will come after you.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, it's all right, I'll tell you if I sign
or okay, okay.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Well, Also before the weekend, we knew that the Broncos
were done regardless of the result on Thursday night, so
we asked for any local teams that needed to pump up.
We had three people that you made special videos for.
You spoke to them, Well, we don't we don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
How, but we're going to get them back out and
then they're going to tell.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Us of us imass if they all got smashed. But
forty four, that's my career speaking, it's not your response.
Update on the kids. Next to finish.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
And knowing that the Broncos season was over regardless of
the result on Thursday night, we we had Corey talk
to a few people who had big Grand Finals on
this weekend and give them a nice pump up. We
said videos for them as well. You spoke to mine air. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
We that was two boys and a girl, Ollie Thomas
and it was Hannah the netballer. I mean you had
no idea what you were talking about with netble, but man,
you you pumped him up.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Results, results time.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
Let's talk with Ollie at a Jim Boomber. So, Ollie
under thirteens, you were playing in rugby league.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yeah, sure is okay? What happened mate?
Speaker 1 (05:29):
We got runners up? Oh okay, that's good. Yeah, that's
that's the positive part. Okay, just enjoy it mate. It's
sometimes hard.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
But did you end up sharing the video? Did the
other other players see the video before the game and
stuff they did didn't work?
Speaker 1 (05:52):
OLLI?
Speaker 3 (05:52):
Did you play well?
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Yeah? Play right?
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Oh it's always next year.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
This hurt for next year, that's right, take it next year.
Take it next time. You verse the same thing? Yeah,
thank you?
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Yeah that doesn't sound okay? Okay. Thomas Thomas of Tanamir
High hid what happened?
Speaker 2 (06:13):
So we took on the Choppolts. We won twenty eighteen.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah, thank god, that's all I need, just one. I
just needed one champion. Thank you So what was the
final score? Twenty to eighteen? The video just got difference?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
And how did you play?
Speaker 1 (06:33):
Oh? Average?
Speaker 2 (06:34):
I played pretty well?
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Pretty well?
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Pretty well?
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Did you score the winning try? Kicked the winning goals?
Any points for you? Thomas? Oh?
Speaker 3 (06:44):
No?
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Team players out?
Speaker 3 (06:47):
Okay? And and did Corey help you? Was that the
winning thing?
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah? I think I think the video I did help.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
We shared it with everyone, and I don't know's what
cross over the lines?
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Thomas Okay of Cleveland, Hi.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Hi, Hi?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
So what now you were doing under thirteen's netball? Yeah?
And how what was the result in the grand final?
Speaker 3 (07:11):
We won and the score was sixteen to twenty one.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Sixteen. That's convincing. It's a convincing win.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
And how did you go? Mate?
Speaker 1 (07:20):
I was off for most of the game, but in
the end I did pretty well.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
No, that's good, great, solid work?
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Well three?
Speaker 3 (07:29):
And did Corey help with all that?
Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:32):
What did you play? It was a goal attack gold
of fans wing defense. I know you gave us wing
defense and goalkeeper.
Speaker 3 (07:39):
You were stopping the teams getting their goals in and
you did a pretty good job.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
Well done, Thank you, I heard it only okay, mate,
that doesn't mean, there's three more this morning.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Well they're all done, right, it's all finished.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
There's still plenty of other sports.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
Can I read just before we go to news, Corey,
can I read you something? This was on the mighty
Brisbane Broncos facebook pages, a lot of fans and things.
So this there was a from walou Rundu who wrote,
who wrote a lovely, huge story, but I'll just read
you a little bit of it starts with tears rolled
down seeing sun Corp for the last time, cheering on
the veteran winger Corey Oats and then he went into
(08:15):
a lot about your career and then he said seeing
him leave like this is heartbreaking unless he decides to
hang his boots in retirement. Thanks for the memories, Otsy,
best of luck for you in your future endeavors, lots
of love and then a horse the horse sign and
this has got thousands of people just going absolutely concur And.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, I haven't seen a lot, but I've my wife
sort of showed me a fair few, but it was
it was hard, like you know, I hope it isn't,
but I sort of. I kept the emotions pretty well
until right at the end, like when I walked back
to the tunnel just because I guess you've you've ran
I've run out that tunnel so many times and and
(08:54):
also walk back in. And so many big games and
for so many big different well big teams, you know,
for Origin and for Broncs.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
So can I ask you? Do you think all the
other players will be back? Do you think that everyone
that we saw on the pitch this season will come
back for next season?
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yeah, unless they want to go somewhere else or if
the contracts are finished. But I'm pretty sure you know
the thing, the squad's going to be fairly similar to
this year.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Would you make any changes if you were.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
I wouldn't. I still believe it's a really good squad.
It's just like I said, it was just those fine
little details in games, and I really thought that the
game on Thursday was just a prime example of that.
Just we didn't execute it or finish off sets and
plays like we did the year before. And that's what
wins your games, your execution and the way you finish
(09:47):
sets and where you finish that, and you know, just
those small things make a big difference.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
So I want to read you one more bit before
you go Corey seeing him waving and walking into the
sheds with his daughter and son. I was worrying because
we can support a team, but we have our favorites
in the team, and Oats is everyone's favorite.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I love him. Oh that's nice. You're going to get
me emotion. But it's just, you know, and that's that's
why it always is a lot harder. You know. It's
it's also the fans, and you know, they've been great.
They're the best fans in the game. You know, the
ones that are actual fans are not just average one
of the they're honestly the best fans. They're always supportive,
(10:29):
and you know, they're always they show up every week
and and support the team and mate. So to you,
you that's all right, Yeah, yeah, honestly, Yeah, it's it
made it hard last Thursday. So it's just that's the
last thing I want to finish on. But yeah, I've
(10:50):
got a big decision in the next three or four weeks.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
We'll have you next week.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Yeah, you're contracted. This contractor keeps rolling, so I'll see
you next week. Then
