Speaker 3 (00:12):
Rolls off the dunk, doesn't it. So it seems to
happen around this time every year that there's a new
strain of bird flu. But a sick sea bird has
been taken care of on the Sunshine Coast right now,
and there's as a couple of people who are looking
after this seabird who you would recognize if you've ever
seen TV, like one of the I think they're on
today this morning or sometimes they've become fairly viral on

(00:34):
Instagram because they're twins.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Yeah, they're the twinies, the twinnies, and they look after
amazing birds up on the Sunny coast and we've got
them online with us.

Hello Bridget and Paula, good morning. Hello, tell us how
is that sick bird? Where did you find it?

Well? Actually Wildlife News, so the rescue and then he
got swa she did, and then he got delivered in
a carnival box to our center.

He's quite a large bird and the wingspan is absolutely amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Yeah, and so how are you taking care of him?
Because isn't it dangerous with bird flu?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah? He is, but we've got a makeshift like like
we have got a little room that what we are
extemed in to make it bigger. So he's in a
quarantine room at the moment, he's away from our other
birds and we have to gown up and make sure
that everything in his face.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
So does one of you look after the sick bird
and the other one look after the other birds?

Speaker 2 (01:53):
No? No, actually we go in the room together because
there's a lot of clinging roll. How dangerous can this
bird flu be for humans? I don't think it is
as bad as right?

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (02:09):
And what were the science? How do you know that
this bird has bird flu?

Speaker 2 (02:12):
In Western Australia? Like they're falling over, they're very weak,
puffed up, head wobbles and eyes half closed. And this
peture what we've got She was showing on the minds
of the we witness and I couldn't stand up. But
the only thing he or she hasn't got was the

(02:35):
head wobbles? Okay?

Speaker 3 (02:37):
And where do you reckon this giant? Where does this
giant petrol come from? Where's it been flying from?

Speaker 2 (02:41):
They all fly from the Antarctic right?

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Oh wow, that's a long flight when you got the flu,
isn't it?

Speaker 2 (02:50):
Just like? We have got another one in care? And
she she came back negg is okay, from from the
obviously not from the same joint one.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Maybe from the part of the ice girls. What would
what would these birds do without? I know we wonder
that I bet you do.
