They had the best to go with.

So Matt Gillett and his kids some friends are theirs

his brother in law, came along with his older boy

And we all blamed it on the vomiting buck.

But now it could have been when it was your
first beer that day was early.

did it there so that you could arrive incognito, You
could drive in underneath the car park then yeah, well.

No one's confirmed that, but that would make sense and
no one could take photos unless you were actually inside
and invited. I mean, the guest list was extraordinary, so
many A listers, Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Q Grant, Julia Roberts.

It's a brag though Madison Square Garden were having at
a stadium.

I was shocked that it wasn't the opposite, like they
went so big. Yeah, I thought they'd just go totally driving.

of thing, because the book hasn't done very well and.

Brisbane is that it hasn't done well in Risban either.
So I've employed an independent publicist and I'm just you know,
like it's costing me a lot of money. But I
think what I realized is that I thought the book
was the destination, but it's not. It gives you credibility,
but it's the first part of the journey, and it's
what I've got to do with the book right now

to kind of get it into people's hands. So because
there's lots of planning.

is an author, so that's what you are now.

Yeah, but it's also what like a lot of people

But I had to work out because I don't see myself.
I'm not an expert, like, but I do have a
lot of life experience and there's a lot of stuff
around resilience and kids. So I spent the first week

my mum had a fall, so I had to go
to Sydney and so you know, it wasn't the holiday
that I thought it was going to be. But you know,
then I got to hang out and do lots of
sports things, which my boys were themselves about.

for our superpower squad. Were taking care of kids that
have I guess been bullied or just felt like they
haven't got a good place in their school or wherever
they are.

Yeah, because we've been trying over the last few months
to have an impact on how kids are treated in
schools and sadly we didn't get as far with the
government as we want.

It's a roadblock.

Instead, we thought, well, let's get all these kids together
and they can find their people and have a great
night on us.

And a good friend of the show and formal world
boxing champion Jeff Horren, heard about this and said, I
want to get involved and I love this about you, Jeff,
because this is something that you're really passionate about too, mate.

Thank you know. It's a very important issue to me,
that's for sure. And at least the government is doing something.
We've got one hundred schools for next year to sign
up to the program, so well, yeah, it's big.

So what is it?

So this is obviously nothing to do with without our
night specifically, but your anti bullying program?

Speaker 2 (53:07):
What's it about?

Speaker 30 (53:09):
Look, it's got five levels to it and it goes
all the way through school from prep to grades. Weld
and we teach practical solutions to a wide range of
conflict situations that happen in school and we're just basically
teaching kids how to treat each other better.

Speaker 24 (53:24):
Yeah's and that's all the kids, right, Like I say,
all the kids in the classrooms are schools. You're not
just getting the kids that are obviously being affected by it,
but you're trying to change the ones that are that
are doing the bullying.

Speaker 30 (53:34):
Yeah, yeah, exactly. And it's all about changing the culture
in the school. So you need everyone involved. You need
the teachers trained as well, and the teachers do some
conflict management training. The teachers are involved, so they get
some notifications through an app that we've got, so that
everyone is a part of changing that culture at that school.

So Jeff, you know all about this, don't you, Because
it's the reason why you've got into boxing in the
first place, isn't it.

Speaker 30 (54:00):
Yes, that's right, I did get I did go through
my bulloying at the school.

Probably as bad as what some people do, especially these
days with technology. But look, it's the reason why I
started from punches, that's for sure.

Yes, we don't teach any strike most situations of eighty
percent of the time, you can do it without getting
any punches.

Yeah, and you go into schools too. It's you who's

I do, I do. I'm actually going to a school
right now. I'm going to King Roy State School right now.
So shout out to them. I'm going to do how

I mean, and before boxing, you were a primary school teacher, right,
I was.

Speaker 30 (54:48):
I was actually high school train started a secondary at course,
but I actually did majority of my teaching at a
primary school.

So, Jeff, can you tell us, because we have talked
about this heaps, if a kid is being mercilessly bullied,
they've gone to the teachers, they've gone to the principle,
the parents are really at their wits end. What do
you recommend, as someone who knows how that felt.

Speaker 30 (55:16):
Yeah, Look, it shouldn't get to that. That's the whole problem.
It shouldn't be that the kid can't go anywhere and
can't escape that. We need to knock it in the
hesh so to.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
Speak, physically, not physically, yes.

Speaker 30 (55:31):
Not physically, but we need to get onto it early.
And normally it starts very young for someone where they
start get going through bullying. So if we can stop
it early, which is what our program does and it
does very well at doing that, is get in early,
teach the kids how to respect each other better, and
if it's happening, teach the kids to speak up when
it is starting to happen, so that you can nip

it in the bud straight away.

And so, Jeff, on Monday the twentieth, Mate, we're having
a special night at Area fifty one. We're bringing a
bunch of kids. We're calling it our Superpower Squad.

that's the biggest thing that happens these days where kids
don't feel like they've got anyone to turn to, and
they've got no one to talk to and they feel alienated.
So that's what we've got to stop. So we don't
have any kids doing anything silly to themselves.
