Speaker 5 (07:23):
But to start off, there's a ward on.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
The man's ward.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Okay, so he's going to war.
Speaker 13 (07:37):

Speaker 12 (07:53):
The pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel
attached to his crutch. The bartender asked, hey, Captain Fox,
with this, Darren will there if it says are?
Speaker 7 (08:02):
It's driving me nuts?
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Good? Even second time round? A harderd bucks to spend
at Yamaha Kabulcher for you.
Speaker 12 (08:12):
Soo fantastic, guys. I just got one more there with
the Adele theme. My friend crashed her car last night
while she was listening to Adele.
Speaker 7 (08:20):
She went rolling in her GEP.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Good that big origin news for your next on Kiss
ninety seven three.
Speaker 5 (08:33):
Robin, Kip and Coyotes in the morning.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
But state of Origin. So here's the big news we
haven't We have tickets, flights, accommodation and of course game
tickets to Game two State of Origin in Melbourne. So
this is going to be massive. We're going to have
them on the show next week. There will be a
few days that you can win them and then you
can be flying down a Game two, which I think
is going to be absolutely huge.
Speaker 3 (08:55):
We did this for the first Date of Origin and
little Carter had the greatest of his life, that's right,
even though he was a Queenslander and his mum was
from New South Wales.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I mean she was gloating a little bit, but yeah,
this is.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
This is going to be I would go to Melbourne
and this is going to be the one they're going
to lift because the third Origin is in Queensland and
we can know how to have a dead rubber?
Speaker 6 (09:14):
No, how do we go?
Speaker 2 (09:16):
Do you know what our stats are like in Melbourne?
How do we normally go on Melbourne?
Speaker 15 (09:19):
I should have looked them up, honestly, but from from
memory I believe it's it's not it's not too bad.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Did you ever play in Origin at the g No,
And it's.
Speaker 15 (09:30):
Probably the one place I wish I'd got a chance to, Like, yeah, yes,
it's a long way away. I've played at Perth and
I say it's it's similar because Perth is a as
an AFL stadium.
Speaker 2 (09:40):
But and our record in Perth not great.
Speaker 15 (09:42):
It's about one hundred and fifty to forty and we
lost all Oh really it's not good. Yeah, but yeah,
so yeah, Melbourne, I wish I had the chance just
because it's MCG.
Speaker 6 (09:52):
Yeah, that's the only reason I wish I've got to
play there.
Speaker 15 (09:55):
I'm going to play the Gabba, you know, for God's sake,
So that's pretty cool.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
That's pretty cool.
Speaker 15 (09:59):
Yeah, but that for Origin would have been pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yeah, so you could be there. You know, what is
the greatest football ground in Australia. I think, I mean,
obviously some courts the best place to watch, but you
can't beat the g Special of what.
Speaker 15 (10:16):
The Ashes boxing day test there and that, for me
was one of the greatest.
Speaker 6 (10:21):
Things I've ever gone to see. Really, it was packed.
Speaker 15 (10:24):
It was full full house there.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
So if you've never been, this is your competition. You
could be there and yeah, imagine just being there for
a Queensland win to level so great.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
You could walk through Victoria feeling like through Melbourne feeling
King of the Pops.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
By the way, if you do win, your Brisbane winter
jumper is not enough Melbourne. You're not getting away with
a cotton hoodie.
Speaker 11 (10:47):
Make sure you take one of those ones.
Speaker 15 (10:49):
You know, it's like really you know, it's it's a
rain jacket, but it's also nice.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
And the puffer.
Speaker 11 (10:54):
Yeah, puffer. You need to be you need to be
ready for everything. Yeah, even some start a night because
you go to Melbourne.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
So yeah, it'll be the same. The same way we
did the competition for the first tickets to Origin, which
is you will be playing some some Origin moments, some
classic Origin moments and as soon as you hear then
you get on the phone. Fifteen one six five.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
I've got a bad stat for I was just trying
to google too about Melbourne, about Queensland in Melbourne.
Speaker 11 (11:22):
At the g played six What have you done?
Speaker 6 (11:27):
Queensland one too even after score?
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Okay, so there we go. Yeah, we'll bounce it out three.
It'll be anyway, it doesn't matter, not quite even.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
There will be further along step in the right.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
Direction, yes, Robin kid.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
And in the morning, an incident from the show yesterday
we need to address with our producer Amelia.
Speaker 16 (11:49):
What's going on?
Speaker 6 (11:49):
Good morning.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
I'm just I'm scared now you're a little key week
Yeah you go.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
You know it was a thick accent, but yeah, I don't.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Have a thick accent.
Speaker 6 (11:58):
But it's safe.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Chips, fish and chips.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
And also can you see phone box You see Michael
who we had on for Now what suburb is Michael from?
Speaker 4 (12:11):
He is from Breakage Bracken, Bracken. I heard brakha, so
I spelt it as you know, keep and eye looking
at each other, and.
Speaker 12 (12:30):
Then I got.
Speaker 16 (12:31):
It no, because I have to say you Australian like
town names and street names. They don't make sense and
they're not in English. They are so Australian, you know
what I mean. Oh, that's another one.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (12:46):
Woolen gabba woo woolen gabber. But come on, in New Zealand,
you've got heaps of.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
Oh yeah, Harry, Yeah, that's the thing.
Speaker 16 (12:55):
In New Zealand, all our street names are all in
Moldy so but here it's like austral allien. So you
got like too long and you've got like, you know
what I mean, sounds like.
Speaker 15 (13:09):
What's the name of that, like one hundred of the town?
Speaker 6 (13:12):
Did you say that town?
Speaker 16 (13:14):
I did this the other day, Tom, They hang a
CoA our old twoty pooka cuppy, manga hotok pok fenua
kita no wait Katah.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Story said, does it have a question mark at the.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
End of sounds like yeah, world record for the longest
single place name.
Speaker 6 (13:43):
In the world. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
I love that you were able to say that, but
not bracken.
Speaker 5 (13:47):
Ridge, Robin Ki and Coreo.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
It's in the morning.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Halfway through the podcast.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
Okay, I'm gonna rely on you keep on because you
lived in America, so you've got a better chance than
most of us are being able to change from feet
to meters.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
But I have one, two, three, four, five, six seven
animals on this list?
Speaker 6 (14:11):
Are we on there?
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Yeah? Humans are on there? How far animals can detect
a cent? So in the list of human, cat, world war, wolf, dog, elephant,
and deer, who do you think can detect it?
Speaker 6 (14:27):
The furthest I was going to go, I was only
a dog.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
The number three is the furthest is it one point
two miles?
Speaker 6 (14:40):
Time I go elephant?
Speaker 2 (14:42):
You're right, I can get the trunk right up in.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
The air and get the distance twelve miles. Twelve miles,
which is what like twenty.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
K six one point six k is a mile?
Speaker 2 (14:53):
So it goes humans, it's about twenty yeah five feet?
Speaker 17 (14:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (14:59):
Are we really feet?
Speaker 6 (15:00):
Five feet?
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Cat six hundred and fifty feet.
Speaker 6 (15:05):
Said about two hundred meters.
Speaker 10 (15:08):
Ok.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
A deer?
Speaker 3 (15:09):
See I thought a deer would be more because they're so,
you know, prone to predators. Yeah, one thousand, six hundred feet.
Speaker 16 (15:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Interesting, I guess the cat and the deer that like
it's the prey and the predator. Yeah right, wild boar, Yes,
there's they're supposed to be good because they can get
truffles out of the grounds.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
Two thousand, three hundred meters three hundred two three.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Hundred feet, so it's not quite a k but it's
up there.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Okay. A dog one point two miles Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:40):
Okay, that's about two k. Yeah, maybe a bit less,
almost two k that's pretty number.
Speaker 4 (15:47):
Two miles three and a half.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
Three point two Yeah, so that's insually because of course
dogs were wolves once, but obviously they've domesticated them.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Miles twenty kometers. What, Yeah, they don't like an elephant.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
A baby elephant gets taken out on the savannah by pray,
but big elephants don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Have you ever seen you ever seen those doccos where
where a line or something will kill a baby elephant
and then the other elephants will just take it. They'll
kill the line if they can.
Speaker 4 (16:19):
Elephants gree on it.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
They grieve to cry, right, you see them cry, and
they remember, you know, they stay with the body for
a period of time. And yeah, if it's a baby,
the matriarch thing and kind of looked after by the
rest of the head. When I went to Africa and
went on Safari, I took the boys after their dad died,
And honestly, it's they're the most majestic animal.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
That pretty incredible, aren't they.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
There's something about them that they just are extraordinary.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
Yeah, it's the way they look in the eye, you
know what I mean, Like they come up to the car,
they're looking at you, and they're looking at every person
in there, just going who's trouble? Is anyone trouble?
Speaker 3 (16:57):
We had a moment run, We had a moment on
the open Safari truck where a bull, a young bull
elephant with big tasks, literally brushed past. You can hear
the breath as the elephant walked out. You can also
hear my twelve year old at the time swearing. But
I just said to hus just everyone stay still because
(17:17):
at any point he could turn his tusks and tip
the just flip it.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Like yeah, so cool though, wonderful.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
It's crazy to think that they used to use them
in war, like Hannibal used to have war elephants and
they had dudes sitting on that train them then, yeah,
they had a whole bunch, like they had arches, so
they had like a little almost like a platform up there,
and you'd have four or five arches. So they'd run
in and these guys are all fire and arrows and
everyone terrifying.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Would makes sense though, because their hide is so stretch
to penetrate.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
And you know, I saw the statistics, which is.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
Awful, Like millions and millions and millions of horses went
from Australia to Gallipoli.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Do you know how many came home?
Speaker 6 (17:57):
None? They didn't bring Oh they brought one one? What
do they do with the rest of them?
Speaker 4 (18:02):
A lot of them died? So you know, the elephant
is not a stupid thing. I mean, goodluck training one.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Yeah, I mean that was the thing, because I've read
a bit of history about it, is that the war
elephants would go in. But a lot of the time,
if if the people were prepared, they could spook the
elephants and then they'd do as much damage to their
own army. I think they were afraid of pigs, so
they sit in a bunch of pigs and then they
just turned and just clean out their own army.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
Yeah what.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
Sidney would tell you, it's a mouse.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
Yeah, But if they were prepared for it, that release pigs,
and then it'd be just absolute can't And that's when
they shut down the Great Elephant Program, shut down guys.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
Pigs, Robin Ki and coyotes in the.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Construction finally underway for the Olympic Stadium at Victoria Park,
where there are plenty of pro testers who still don't
want that to happen.
Speaker 4 (19:02):
Hey Vanessa, good morning morning Vanessa.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
Now you're of Kelvin Grove and we understand you're one
of the protesters against Victoria Park.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
Is that right?
Speaker 10 (19:13):
Look call me a protester if you need an l
AA boy, I guess. But yeah, like, I'm not happy
about this development. I live in Kelvin Grove.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Why are you against it? What don't you want about
the stadium, the future Olympic stadium.
Speaker 10 (19:31):
Well, look, I'm not anti Olympics. I'm not anti sport,
you know, I'm not anti any of those. But I
just don't think this is the right location to build
a stadium. Have you ever walked around the you know,
the sun Corpse Stadium or the MCG I mean, I
don't think that's a really pleasant experience. The land here
(19:55):
was given back in the eighteen hundreds to the as
the lungs of the city, and more than ever, I think.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
We need some mun So your belief is that it
should remain parkland, Well, I.
Speaker 10 (20:11):
Think there should be some consultation happen.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
And what do you mean by consultation, because there's been
a lot.
Speaker 10 (20:18):
Well what consultation happened? Though, Like I was never asked it.
I want this development here. I want to know where
my new park's going to be.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
But it has been proposed for quite a while faster
and we are at the point now if we don't
get building, then we're not going We're going to be
a laughing stock. We're not going to get the Olympics ready.
Speaker 6 (20:35):
And I feel like that.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
I mean, there shouldn't be a situation where every every
resident needs to get asked personally, do you want to
have a stadium here? That's what like, that type of
consultation just can't happen.
Speaker 10 (20:49):
Well, normal development processes involve community engagement. When you have
a project like this.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
The onus is is on the person to protest. I guess,
but I mean, let me ask you this. If not there,
then where Yeah.
Speaker 10 (21:03):
I haven't done an assessment, but there's land out of Chandler.
I was out there the other day, there's plenty of
land out Leman's complex.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
There's no trains. That's the big issue that any major
sporting complex in the world needs.
Speaker 10 (21:19):
They built that, They built that for the eighty two
Common Loss Games.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
Yeah, and the problem is it doesn't have trains. That's
the reason it was an absolute right off as far
as I understand it. That in the inability. That's what
makes some corp work. That's what makes the MCG work
is the public transport, accessibility and being you know, some
reasonably walkable from the city.
Speaker 16 (21:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (21:39):
Look, I just think we need to come up with
other options. There's plenty of other options.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
I think there are tho, Like, what else is there
other than Chandler, which we know is right off. What
are the other options, Like what.
Speaker 10 (21:51):
About the Boondo Entertainment Center.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Or well that's got the same problem Lane.
Speaker 10 (21:56):
There's a train station out there.
Speaker 13 (21:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
And it's not an easy it's not an easy get.
Speaker 10 (22:04):
If they want to build it here, build it on
top of the inner city bypass, build it. It's not
green space.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
Okay, no, fair enough and Vanessa where it.
Speaker 10 (22:14):
Was originally proposed. It was actually originally proposed down on
the inner City bypass. It wasn't proposed in green space.
Once this park's gone, you can't get it back. Haven't
you done your research on global cities, New world global cities,
they're the ones who have the green space. Imagine if
this was proposed in continial parklands down in Sydney, to
(22:36):
be a riot. Im See if this was actually proposed
a St. Lucia golf course or Indrapilli golf course, there
would be a riot.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
But those those golf courses don't tick the boxes of
what we need for an Olympic stadium.
Speaker 10 (22:50):
Though neither is this one.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
I mean it doesn't if you're talking about having green
space closer to the city.
Speaker 10 (22:58):
Everyone knows that lead world global cities actually need bark,
they don't.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Need an ugly Well you're there right now, Vanessa. How
many people are around?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Like?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
How many people are getting used of this space right now?
Speaker 16 (23:11):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (23:11):
I can see quite a lot, Like, what's a lot?
Speaker 11 (23:15):
Ten people?
Speaker 6 (23:15):
What's a lot?
Speaker 10 (23:16):
I can see people walking dogs, people Like if you've
been here on Sunday, you would have seen a lot
of people using it. There were three wedding receptions on Saturday.
There's people here all weekend and there's a lot of
a lot of emotion attached to this, not just for
Indigenous but the current and the future community.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Well, we really appreciate you coming on it and giving
us your opinion and being bold enough to do it
on air. We appreciate it. Vanessa. We've got to let
you go, but thank you for joining us.
Speaker 10 (23:47):
Thank you have a great day.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Rob in the morning.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Twenty minutes ago now we were joined by Vanessa from
Calvin Grove who is a protester against Victoria Park.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
She was currently walking in the park and she loves
it and wants more sort of green space within our city.
Speaker 6 (24:08):
But we are losing the greens, like all of it.
Speaker 15 (24:10):
There's going to be a state of it from all
the drawings I've seen the plans, there's still going to
be lots of walking and green space to be able
to be used.
Speaker 6 (24:18):
For that, I believe.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Well, before we get to your calls on thirteen one
oh six five, here's a bit of what Vanessa had
to say.
Speaker 10 (24:25):
Call me a protester if you need an lay boy,
I guess. But yeah, like I'm not happy about this development.
The land here was given back in the eighteen hundreds
to the city as the lungs of the city. I
want to know where my new park's going to be.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Now, Ladam morning side, what are your thoughts on that
call we just had with Vanessa, the protester against Victoria Park.
Speaker 17 (24:50):
I just found it quite interesting that she was talking
about DMCG and how awful that is. GOIMCG quite often
and there's nothing but plans around them.
Speaker 6 (25:01):
Yeah, it's an awesome spot, the.
Speaker 17 (25:03):
Famous Adelaide Oval, magnificence like and there's no public transport,
so it's all public transport. People don't drive their cars
to go into them, Suze or Cadlaide Oval.
Speaker 10 (25:12):
They catch public transports.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
And this is amazing.
Speaker 17 (25:14):
And they can have barbecues and all sorts of stuff
for the game.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
So I'm not quite sure.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
If you ever been to it's beautiful.
Speaker 10 (25:21):
I think it is.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
It feels like you're the coliseum in Rome's amazing structure
to sport.
Speaker 10 (25:29):
Yeah, it's beautiful.
Speaker 17 (25:31):
And I'm sure that when the you know, living committee
organized what to do with you, you know, with the
staying here, I'm sure they're going to have some greenery around.
It won't just be a the ugly building with no
greenery around. And I know that Yes, it's sad that
you know, Parklands are being moved a where she lives
around which lives but you know there are other part
bands part bands around and I'm sure, so.
Speaker 6 (25:51):
Okay, brandand what's your thoughts? Mate?
Speaker 8 (25:55):
No, I agree with Vanessa. You guys just totally dismissed
everything that she said. And she has a point, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
What is it?
Speaker 12 (26:03):
So?
Speaker 8 (26:04):
Where where's everyone going to get off the train and
walk to this new stadium.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
She's running in regard that there isn't a train station
right there, and I was of the misconception that there
was going to be one you can step into. But
there are going to be light rail and they're also
bringing in electric buses, so there are plans to make
it really accessible to public transport, which is a big difference, right,
But so, but in.
Speaker 8 (26:25):
The meanwhile, the closest thing would be like the RB
station and then forty shoo Valley stations. Have you ever
walked through there at night? I think anyone. I don't
think anyone's wanted to going to want to do that run. Also,
if we're going to be building light rail and trains
and stuff, do it to Chandler. They need it. That's
(26:45):
that's a huge development out there. There's so many people
out there that could use a train or light rail
or something, and it'd be very easy to do. Why
do we need it, Why do we need it in
green space?
Speaker 2 (26:57):
It'd be great to put it at Chandler. I agree,
but there is no way. There's no way they're building
a train station.
Speaker 8 (27:04):
There's endless amounts of land out there.
Speaker 15 (27:06):
And but it's green space also, so you're saying get
rid of other green space and not this green space.
Speaker 8 (27:12):
The Sleiman sports it.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
It's not green space the parkland all around it.
Speaker 8 (27:17):
But but have you seen so it's not a case
was there, but it's okay to like completely rip up
like an inner city.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Park that was a golf course.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
It was there was a golf course.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Yeah, yeah, Well but have you seen how long it's
taken them to build a cross city rail Like is
the idea that they're going to be able to put
train lines out there and a station out there in
the next six years. It's just not going to happen.
Speaker 8 (27:41):
Oh, with the with the rate that anything is built
in Australia, how are we even going to be ready
by twenty thirty two?
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Round That is another conversation so long.
Speaker 8 (27:51):
How many people have died also on that on that development?
Speaker 6 (27:57):
Well, which one.
Speaker 8 (28:00):
The Cross River rail?
Speaker 4 (28:02):
I don't know the answer to that, I tell you,
but we take your point.
Speaker 8 (28:05):
Google. Google is free, guys. You guys actually sound like
you've got you've got no idea about this at all.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
You've got to understand your point by the government, Brad.
Speaker 8 (28:15):
How much do you guys get? How much you guys
getting paid by nothing?
Speaker 2 (28:19):
I just want to I just want to stadium. I
just want to stadium, Brad.
Speaker 8 (28:23):
I totally dismissed Vanessa on the radio. You're just like, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah,
you guys are.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Flog you guys, Brad's man, mate, that's I mean, you
want to talk about being.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
A flog Robin Keith and couriotes in family.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Google's free. According to got Into Brad, it was very
cranky at at us, mostly me and our conversation about
Victoria Park, the new stadium for the Olympics, just a
couple of minutes ago.
Speaker 8 (28:51):
Google is free, guys. You guys actually sound like you've
got you've got no idea about this at all.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
You've got to hang understand your point by the government.
Speaker 12 (29:00):
How much?
Speaker 8 (29:01):
How much you guys getting.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
I just want to I just want to stadium. I
just want to stadium.
Speaker 8 (29:08):
But I totally just missed on the radio you're oh yeah, yeah,
yeah you at and.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
Then he hung up on this.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
Yeah, dropped the ne f form in there as well,
which to edit out. But we want to know what
you think. Thirteen one O.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Sixty five Andrea of Kelvin Grove, Hi, Hi, how are
you going?
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Hey Andrew Good?
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Where do you think?
Speaker 14 (29:30):
Look, I agree with Nnessa's sentiment. I mean, you wouldn't
build a stadium like that in Central Park, New York,
and I feel like it's a lost opportunity for future
generations to have access to such beautiful green space.
Speaker 8 (29:41):
And such a central location.
Speaker 14 (29:43):
I think it's also interesting that you mentioned Roman Street
Parklands is a great parkland as well in Brisbane.
Speaker 10 (29:49):
Men.
Speaker 14 (29:49):
Sure, but you've got to remember that the Bristol City
Council maybe only five years ago, had a master plans
for Victoria Park. It's going to be very similar to
Roma Streets and that's been completely care into the stadium.
So I feel like it's a real life opportunity.
Speaker 15 (30:03):
Yeah, but I agree with Andrew there, but from the
plans I've seen. I think there's there's still a lot
of park lands around the stadium.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
Isn't there like that?
Speaker 11 (30:11):
I'm sure they're going to great green space and walks.
Speaker 6 (30:14):
There for people still to be.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Able to do into Max n'arrangba. What are your thoughts
on Victoria Park?
Speaker 9 (30:23):
Well, basically, I think I don't think it's going to
work out at all. The start of the transport. The
closest transport hub you've got to is Hurston buff Way
and you think about it, how many people can you
see it onto one bas one train?
Speaker 2 (30:41):
Well, there is going to be a station. And I
was talking about this with Vanessa and she's saying there
isn't a station there now, but there is a proposed
Victoria Park train station which is going to be there
for the Olympics. That's the proposal, is that there will
be a three level train station.
Speaker 9 (30:56):
I can't see you getting the train station up and going.
You know, they've got plans to they've got plans now,
you know, signed the bill and they were already as
it is. But with the busway, I don't think it
will work out.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
I agree buses aren't the answer.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
And Michelle of Waterford West do you agree with Vanessa,
who is our original person, who is the protester walking
through Victoria Park as we were speaking to her.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
But for another reason, what is it?
Speaker 13 (31:26):
Well, like you know they we had the Goal Coast
Olympic Games, right, we built all that and now it's
not getting new. How come we can't use that again?
Speaker 2 (31:35):
You know, Well that's the Gold Coast. Yeah, I understand
your point, but I mean that's an hour from Brisbane.
It's not like if we get a big for example,
when we get big artists that come to town and
they've been skipping Brisbane late lately, people like Taylor Swift.
You know, it's it's not it's not an easy Thursday
night out for us to go to the Gold Coast
and back to see your show. And that's the reality
(31:56):
is is that hundreds of thousands of people get us
out of there's millions.
Speaker 13 (31:59):
People like we just built like this other one that
we had in that Gold Coast, but now we're going
to go build this one in Brisbane and it's going
to get not used as the same as one of
Gold Coast.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
Well, I just I can, I've googled and who knows.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
But it's saying the broad Beach Park Stadium for beach volleyball,
the Southport broad Water Park Lands for the triathonal triathlon
and marathon swimming.
Speaker 10 (32:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
So we are using some Gold Coasts Gold Coast Hockey
Center which was built for the Commonwealth Games in Labrador
that is being used, the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure
Center Akarara for judo and wrestling.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
So there are some the Rabinas Stadium for soccer preliminaries.
Not a lot, but there are some.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Yeah, And of course that we are going up to
as far as is it Rocky we're going up to
for the rowing? Is that still on the cards?
Speaker 10 (32:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (32:44):
The crops they're making that beautiful river water and browner.
Speaker 6 (32:49):
No one's fired up about that.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
We've got to get to use when we come back.
Cash or crash if you want to play. When he's
on the phone right now, thirteen one day, six.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
Five Robin Kipp and coriots in the money yet.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Was it yesterday on the show we're talking with shrin Dog.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
Yes, our Lord Mayor about pothole.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Yeah, now shrind Dog. I think was last year that
Corey actually tried moving by digging a hole at Victoria Park.
Dug the first hole. I'm wondering whether we keere getting
him involved with filling in holes.
Speaker 15 (33:17):
If I put some sand or something in the back
of the earth, every time I hit the poth'le, some
sand will fly out and fill the hole behind me.
Speaker 10 (33:28):
It takes a little bit more than we can get
you on the tool if you want to.
Speaker 9 (33:34):
If you.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Know, I've got some rs I in my hand, so
I can't write now with you. So you're already trying
to get out of it. But you actually did it yesterday.
You and the Lord Mayor went out to fill in
some potholes, which there is a campaign at the moment
they're trying to get people to let let the council
know where the potholes are.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
Yeah, so we sent you out and we've got you
know this will be up now socials very very shortly.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
And look at you becoming a radio guy doing your
own intro.
Speaker 15 (34:05):
Oh guys, it's Cory here from Rominkeev and Corey Odes
here with Lord Mayor Shuner.
Speaker 6 (34:10):
Mate, we're out here. You've challenged me to a pothole off.
A pothole off? Is that ever going to cause? We
can call it whatever? Pot hole off?
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Right?
Speaker 16 (34:18):
Mate?
Speaker 6 (34:18):
You've been doing this for a couple of weeks. Now
has it all gone?
Speaker 18 (34:21):
People have been awesome, so they've reported a lot of potholes.
We've filled four thousand and six hundred in just two weeks.
But there's more to be done, and that's what we're
doing today. I see you in your best pothole filling outfit.
Speaker 15 (34:33):
Yeah, I came prepared, pants on, Kiff Spencer, I've got
your shoes on.
Speaker 6 (34:38):
I think I've got is my shirt. That's that's all me.
You're confident. I have done it once or twice before.
But I know you're fast, so you see fast. I
retired for a reason, so so here we go.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Yeah, you've forgot to wear full length pants. So you
had to buy my tracking decks yesterday.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
It was kind of gross.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
They went into the toilets together and then came down
in each other's clothes.
Speaker 6 (34:57):
And you had those sweatpants.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
It's not sweat and you had another situation going on
and that you decided to go free yesterday, so I
won't be requiring them back. You just hang onto that
a little bit sweaty too, all.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Right, So when you watched the socials lady today, just
keep that in mind, who went first?
Speaker 6 (35:17):
Shrim dog was first?
Speaker 5 (35:18):
Off?
Speaker 6 (35:19):
Okay, ready, kay? Is that too much?
Speaker 15 (35:24):
So he's been prep for this, he's done this before.
I reckon, he's grabbing his first shovel for their shrim dog.
We'll be short with that one. It's looking pretty good
that that hots has come out. You know exactly can
we get it from the planet toad have been one
hundred and eighty degrees degrees?
Speaker 6 (35:40):
Wow, sixty one and eighty Now, I was just reading
the smell to be a lot worse. It's not that bad.
Speaker 11 (35:45):
Clean up the edge of friend dogs. And you've done
this before. I having there about three times, three times.
It's all over her hand on it.
Speaker 6 (35:57):
That's why I went.
Speaker 11 (35:58):
That's why I thought i'd do it first.
Speaker 6 (36:00):
Okay, that looks good. You don't stop the clocks.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
That seemed like it was a pretty quick time.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
So was it out of like what was it coming
out of a wheelbarrow? Like from the truck into.
Speaker 15 (36:12):
A big truck that keeps it obviously going like rotating rotating,
I guess, like moving so it doesn't get.
Speaker 6 (36:18):
Stuck right up and keeps it warm and right. And
then he just scooped straight at the back shrind Dog's time.
By the way, it was two fourteen.
Speaker 2 (36:26):
Two minutes fourteen editor radio. Okay, so let's well, let's
find out if Corey was able to beat trind.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
Dog Robin in the morning.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Something Corey has been accused of saying, when you see
the council workers filling out potholes, you think it's easy.
And yes, yesterday you found out what it was actually like.
Speaker 6 (36:44):
We had a pothole off me and shrin Dog.
Speaker 12 (36:46):
Where were you.
Speaker 6 (36:49):
Just in twang there. I don't know how to explain.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
And we should say that Brisbane City Council desperately want
to know you've got potholes in your streets and suburbs
because they'll go.
Speaker 6 (36:58):
And fill them.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
That's stat that trind Dog four thy six hundred in
the last two weeks though filled.
Speaker 4 (37:03):
That's insanity, isn't it.
Speaker 15 (37:04):
And I actually asked, I said, so do you keep
doing all the other roadwork stuff. He goes, well, yes,
but no, like they actually do move people off that
the other big roadwork stuff to fill the potholes, right, yeah,
because that he said, they're that bad at the moment.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
So Adrian has had a crack. This was yesterday and
he was at two minutes fourteen.
Speaker 6 (37:22):
Yeah, okay, yours truly out again.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Let's see Corey went, who's starting the clock?
Speaker 6 (37:29):
Shovel it in the best village? Now start with the edges.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
We're done, stop the clock.
Speaker 11 (37:39):
Did he win fifty? But who's a better at that?
Speaker 6 (37:43):
I'm going to say one pothole was needed than the other?
Speaker 11 (37:49):
So what was fifty five?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
So a good a good twenty second?
Speaker 11 (37:53):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely tout him up.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
He didn't well, he wasn't happy with it, and it's games.
There was a little bit of controversy, controver.
Speaker 6 (38:10):
And then now we go to do these they start
the clock again.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Thank you, so you finished it, but it wasn't a
good job.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
It was a pothole for them.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
Was needed to not be like it had to be
secure and safe so that it was sure. Well, no
it wasn't because shrim dogs saying it's not good enough.
So then you had to go back and refill it.
Speaker 6 (38:36):
I thought, you know, pushing the edges over and join
with the other rod was out.
Speaker 11 (38:41):
That's strong.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
So it's gone from a pothole to a pop mound,
and that's not what we want.
Speaker 6 (38:47):
It was to be flat, he said, pothole off. Would
you say, Nita's pothole off?
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Would you skateboard over it?
Speaker 13 (38:52):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (38:52):
Yeah, and then kick flip.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
I would suggest that maybe shrin dole.
Speaker 15 (38:59):
Yes, that sounds you know over time over the cars
that are flattened out.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Yeah, and can't wait for the cars to do the work.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
I mean our producer Claire was there.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Yeah, so mate, how many extra seconds did he require
to fill it up?
Speaker 4 (39:16):
I would say at least thirty seconds.
Speaker 11 (39:19):
The later started the clock again.
Speaker 6 (39:21):
I believe in both two seconds.
Speaker 4 (39:23):
Nineteen seconds was the difference, and if it was at
least thirty, it was at least thirty.
Speaker 6 (39:30):
I'm a quick work and I was sweating in those.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
In hard to say it.
Speaker 11 (39:36):
You read for that thing came out.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
He was very small and now you see what happens
when someone gets criticized. The team to.
Speaker 11 (39:44):
Everyone, to.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Robin Kith and couriotes in.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
We have a big announcement State of Origin Game two.
It's in Melbourne at the MCG. Queensland needs the win
to stay alive in the series and we have tickets
next week on the show show we can fly you
down accommodation and of course tickets to the big game
at the G. G Yeah, we were saying earlier in
the show you never had a chance to play there,
but what what a cracker.
Speaker 15 (40:11):
I've been there for some sporting games over the years
and yeah, anything there is great to watch and great
to be.
Speaker 6 (40:19):
You didn't say you were there.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
Queensland's going to left because we want to win.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Yeah, we can't lose the series and this is a
decider and then it's back in at you know, lang
Park Suncorp Stadium and.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
Just has to Yeah, so what you're doing next week
on the show, we're going to be playing once again.
Those State of Origin highlights, they generally involve Ray Warren
because the audio is so good. Moments like this, now
that's with Jason Smith.
Speaker 11 (40:43):
He holds the pass up and here's father us getting.
Speaker 10 (40:46):
In the way.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
They're over again Queens Ran and.
Speaker 5 (40:50):
The pipe Scola.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
Well what a game of right they're behind by that
point and lock you.
Speaker 11 (40:58):
I could win the game.
Speaker 6 (41:00):
It was tons of carol.
Speaker 11 (41:02):
Yeah, he was the best Rabs just with like you know,
it's like he is that home.
Speaker 15 (41:07):
But then like also while commentating, yeah, it's like he
was just watching it as a fan and reacting as
a fan as a fan, but just such a great comment.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
And you never felt like he was going for Queensland
or news that was that was his other absolute gem.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
So he never showed any buyers.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
No, no, no, yeah, he was excited either way, I
tell you, and I think, I mean, that's the rugby
league world, in the AFL world. Bruce mcavany is the
best of the pops.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
He's Olympic coverage. I mean, he just cannot die. I'm sorry,
it's just we have to we have to mummify you.
I don't know what we have to do, but you
were so good.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
And he had some awesome commentary overnight. Because Gout Gout,
our boy Gout Gout has now broken the world record
for the under twenties and two hundred meters.
Speaker 6 (41:56):
So this happened.
Speaker 11 (41:58):
He gouted front.
Speaker 5 (41:59):
He's coming up out from Murphy. Can he be as
pick as as the credible.
Speaker 11 (42:05):
Nineteen point six?
Speaker 6 (42:07):
Where's the wind?
Speaker 5 (42:08):
The wind's legal?
Speaker 2 (42:10):
He has absolutely done.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
Where everybody thought he more exactly, he's done it at
eighteen years of age.
Speaker 6 (42:17):
Has eighteen?
Speaker 3 (42:18):
Can I tell you some stuff about gaut Gout because
I know him because he went to Ipswich Grammar and
he was a number of years below my boys, but
die his coach is was the ipswitch Grammar athletics coach.
Speaker 4 (42:32):
I mean she did lots of jobs. She was she
did the uniform for a while.
Speaker 6 (42:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:38):
Yeah, she's done a lot of things, and then she's
focused on just running. And she had a club outside
of the school and now she is singularly focused on GAG.
Speaker 4 (42:48):
I mean she doesn't have the runners. Yes, still yeah, still.
Speaker 12 (42:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
And his sports physiologist is a kid called Nick Meek
who also went to Cool with him. Like he's very
much kept the people around that when he was coming
through the ranks, and you know, he could potentially have
anyone in the world, but he's stuck with his his
old schoolmates.
Speaker 15 (43:13):
I love to know some get her on and just
ask her what what her process is with because you
got to keep him out of that world where thinking
I'm good, I'm the best, And you can see that
it seems like she's got a great hold on him.
But maybe him as a kid too, is probably one
of those kids that wants to just continue to.
Speaker 6 (43:32):
Work and be great, but also be a role model.
Speaker 15 (43:34):
I think he's shown that and I love the sort
of I love to be able to ask her how
she's doing that away from that world.
Speaker 3 (43:40):
I have tried, because I do have her number, because
my kids used to always lose their uniform.
Speaker 4 (43:49):
Trying to get some stuff. So I have I have
reached out. Let's see, she's pretty busy, she's feeling a.
Speaker 10 (43:55):
Lot and so on.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
And I know we've spoken about Victoria Park a lot
on the show today, but let's just cut to in
your mind to twenty thirty two at a Brisbane stadium
with him running in the two hundred meters and the
one hundred meters for that matter.
Speaker 6 (44:09):
If he can get gold, like.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
That'll be the greatest man. Yes, So Bruce has got
to hang in until then.
Speaker 4 (44:18):
You did it for Kathy Freeman.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
You've got to do it again.
Speaker 5 (44:22):
Robin, Kip and Couriotes in the morning,
