Speaker 5 (02:11):
Hearing?

Speaker 8 (02:11):
Aid SOS So. I have dear elderly parents who live
very close by, just two streets away, and my dear
old dad who's eighty four.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
I got the.

Speaker 8 (02:19):
Call last night from mum. Dad can't find his brand
new hearing aids. So last week he got fitted with
these new hearing aids, like six grand. They're really expected
hearing aids.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
I mean one young person's is. Here's a hearing of
a twenty one year old.

Speaker 8 (02:35):
Anyway, these are brilliant and they charge like a mobile phone,
so they don't have a battery in them, so they
can't go flat.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
They're brilliant.

Speaker 8 (02:42):
Anyway, he'd lost them and they cost a lot of
money and he couldn't hear. So I went over there
to help them look for them. They turned up chairs,
they were looking under rugs, you know, brand new. He
was so angry with himself.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
I've lost these.

Speaker 8 (02:55):
Anyway, I looked in.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
His he got hard to direct them.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
If his hearing is really bad, you can't go over
there left a bit left of it.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
It's going to slow down the search party.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Isn't it.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
It was terrible.

Speaker 9 (03:04):
We're looking under the cat, we're looking everywhere.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
And obviously they're tiny.

Speaker 8 (03:07):
There's oh, there's so minute. They're like a tiny, tiny arm.
What are they the size of like not even a thimble?

Speaker 5 (03:15):
Like this day, I know what is.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
The charts of people in this world?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Where those who know what the size of a pinhead
or thimble is it's very small. It must be tiny,
and they'res smaller than the apple airports.

Speaker 8 (03:31):
Aren't smaller like maybe a quarter of that size, even smaller?

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Will we say a third of a thimble's head?

Speaker 5 (03:38):
A third of a thimble?

Speaker 7 (03:39):
I would say.

Speaker 8 (03:40):
Anyway, I looked in his left ear and it was
actually it was in his ear.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Dad what I said, it's in your ear?

Speaker 9 (03:53):
I love just ah, that's better.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
It just don't make you sad about getting old. I
don't want to get like that. I know, not known.
If you're hearing hating, daughter's got to come around, Just
flick it on or something. What do you want me
to do?

Speaker 8 (04:07):
Like I fix every you know with my magic wand
but anyway, they are not lost, they are in his ears.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Well tell me his past. What do you have to do?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
You have to leave your phone on during the night
because of because you're so close and they are elderly
in that because they must have called you at till
three in the morning.

Speaker 8 (04:23):
No, no, they don't do that, just only if they
respect the news. They respect the news, and then I
need sleep. But I always have my phone on because
I wake up to the alarm on my phone. I
don't have like a bedside alarm.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
How can you do that easy? Oh no, no, the
clock has to do that. I don't want the I
wouldn't trust the phone. What if it does want those
annoying updates in the middle of the night. It's very smug.
You're not on the iPhone network. They just shut down,
do an update, and then they have updated that. I've
updated myself.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
What of course I've used the phone.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
I use It's called an atomic clock. An atomic clock. No, no, no,
this thing has never let me down in twenty eight years.
It's an amazing clock.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
You've had thirty years.

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Yeah, it's incredible. I've replaced it the exactly same want,
I think, three times, but it's still the same one.

Speaker 10 (05:11):
Ah.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
What what makes it atomic?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
What is not?

Speaker 1 (05:14):
In tiny short?

Speaker 2 (05:15):
It speaks to the North Pole, That's all I know.
You know anything says like NASA technology. Well, they can't
be late for that countdown sequence if they're going into space,
and I can't be late for the Breakfast show.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
The Christian O'Connell show podcast.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Your three word Wednesday school reports suck now. I guess
that's what a teacher listening, yeah, or a kid up
this early, the biggest nerd in the world.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Kids, they're not up this early, and they're not listening
to us.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Okay, there's no Chapel Rome kids, there's no Pink Pony
Club on this show, my friends. It is report writing season?

Speaker 8 (05:57):
Is our school's changed it this year?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
What are they doing well?

Speaker 8 (05:59):
We normally get like two full reports at six months
and then at the end of the year, and they're
streamlining it. We're just getting like a one one page
kind of winer roof you. I don't know if I'm
really happy about it.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
To be honest, that's sure that they're using.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
Of course, good news for the kids though, I'd love that.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Oh, only now they're not good news to parents. You
want to know are they progressing?

Speaker 8 (06:21):
I want to know I'm getting my money's well.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
I didn't want to be honest, but Perats have been honest.
Yet you want to know you're getting what's the word
return on investment?

Speaker 8 (06:29):
I have to say they do a great chocolate teachers.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Of course they do.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
They absolutely, they work bloody hard as well. Yes, and
don't know if you do you as AA, but you
really should A right three World Wednesday? What's shawls rio Mine?

Speaker 5 (06:42):
Is salty curry disaster.

Speaker 11 (06:44):
My lovely partner Will did a very nice thing for
me because I landed back in Melbourne late Sunday night,
because we were in Sydney all of last week.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
I normally make the lunches for the week, but he said, ah,
I'll do it for you because.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
You're what is this image of gay utopy you're presenting?
This is it's like a modern day version of birdcake.
The lunches for the week.

Speaker 5 (07:05):
Yes, most Sundays, all both of our lunches.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
That is incredible.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Twenty years in marriage. We don't have that system. It's
chaos every night and morning. This morning I was making
a sandwich a whole. I dog making sandwiches are whole
four last night.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
If only I was gay on a Sunday.

Speaker 11 (07:26):
Night, double income, no kids, got plenty of time on
making wonderful Wow.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
So he took it upon himself.

Speaker 11 (07:34):
I will say, he's not as experienced as a cook
of me, to put it nicely, and so he's made
these red curries for the whole week.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Thank god? What the same thing every day?

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Yeah, well till Monday to Thursday.

Speaker 8 (07:47):
Yeah, you bet you might sing or something.

Speaker 2 (07:51):
No, no, no, no, no, the same thing every day.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Yeah, otherwise you making well, we're not going to give.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Chinese cooking recipes, like state government getting involved the same
thing every day.

Speaker 11 (08:02):
It's easier just to bulk bulk, make a hole mate
for the wicket anyway.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
I tried on Monday. I go to my delicious curry.
It is completely inedible.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
It is.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
I don't know what he's done.

Speaker 11 (08:13):
Taste it, I don't know. It is so salty. Each
bite is like it's like eating a scoop of the ocean.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Awful.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
It's so awful when someone's used. It's over salted, it's
it's you can't eat it.

Speaker 11 (08:25):
It actually is inedible, and I'm so I'm like, I'm
panting every record.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
It's so salty.

Speaker 11 (08:30):
I think maybe he messed up with the fish sauce,
you know how that stuff is deadly.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Yes, I think he's gone an entire fishing it is.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
I'm gonna say it's disgusting.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
But now I've thrown out Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, so you do.
I've been eating and I can't now I understand the
scene I saw yesterday lunchtar, which we'll get onto at
some point this morning. And how what a scene I'm
going to jump into it, Turner, because my three word Wednesday,
My three word Wednesday is secret road trip. RU and

(09:02):
I yesterday traveled a distance of three thy two hundred
k's had it this morning.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
What it was.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
We flew some ware to check out a pub and
it involved five hours. Yesterday My day was five hours
on planes and five hours and taxis. But to see
this pub and to meet the two legends that run
this pub was worth every single minute. And we go
to this pub and next week you'll find out where

(09:29):
we were and why. But we go to this pub,
and we're there to meet and check out the pub
and meet the people and have lunch with them. This
is all being filmed now, I don't Sometimes you see
some of these new sort of video podcasts where.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
They're having dinner together and I.

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Just presume, obviously you know, I won't eat because I'm
interviewing them. And I thought Rio would join me in
that kind of professionalism. No, No, real ordered the most
expensive thing at their pub that we're getting free ate
it in front of them, and they were horrified. They
kept looking at me like he was actually on the run.
The only time he looked up from his massive megaburger,
whatever it was the biggest.

Speaker 5 (10:04):
It was the burg shoes, meat, the onion beach.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
You're getting your three days work. The only because we
were in this we were in the middle of nowhere basically,
and the only only question where he asked was how
many police? How many policemen were at the local police station.
There was one of these little place in the middle
of nowhere. Everyone knows it. Where there's the there's the pub,
there's an rasl, there's a post office and the police station.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
That's really all there was around there.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Now for some reason, we were fixed you were fixator
and asking them how many police you're working at that
that's the only question you asked.

Speaker 1 (10:38):
It was like it was Danny Ocean.

Speaker 11 (10:40):
I was curious because there was such a small cop shop,
and I was like, oh, I don't know how.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Many six In case you're listening and you want to
know six cops. I mean, it is the most heavily
policed area in Australia.

Speaker 5 (10:52):
One thousand people in the town.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Six cops. There's a lot.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
So I threw all my plans out the window with all.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Those But while we're there, what the lunchur we have
with these with these two people right there, Lovely Lovely
saw the earth proper, proper Australians, hard work and care
about the community. They were a joy to meet both
a couple of Larakens as well, and really care about
the community and the pub.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
They brought this place two years ago as.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
A house and then they realized they can't just turn
this pub into a house and kill what is a
really big community place there. The other thing we realized
that I didn't realize that rodeos are a big thing.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Did you know, pats in certain parts of Australia rodeos?

Speaker 5 (11:32):
But Patsy, have you heard of a pub rodeo?

Speaker 1 (11:34):
No, we did yesterday.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
And have you also heard about twelve year olds getting
on a boat? It's yea. Well, he looked at me
on the very a bunch of city stickers. Sorry, he goes,
a straight neck from the city.

Speaker 11 (11:51):
I said, I've never heard of a pub rodeo, thinking obviously,
and he goes, what yeah. I'm like no, no, He's like,
you haven't been Melbourne and I've never seen twenty seven
bulls in the back of the pub.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
I've got to be honest with.

Speaker 9 (12:02):
You, literally the back of the pub.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
No, no, never really was out the back in an
area that didn't seem big enough to house a small
mature rovia ring and twenty seven actual bulls. It was anyway,
as we're in lunch yesterday and we had such a
laugh with them. Right, I'll come up with a new idea.
What is eighteen? Once a month we go for lunch, dinner, sorry,

(12:23):
round at somebody's house. Love it. We give our listeners,
we give you guys breakfast. Alesha could do his feed
us a mill and it's a fair exchange. Just once
a month we go round to somebody's house for dinner,
and the Golden Rulers we can never turn up empty handed,
whether it's a path of a bottle of wines and
we turn up with something.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Are you too in for this?

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I'm in. I'm because Rio and I had such a
laugh yesterday at lunch. Well so I didn't even eat
the foods because I was interviewing them. And also, like
you don't see Graham Norton tucking in to a sanger
midway through it. If you and David Tennant and Tom
Hanks go Tom, Tom tells about the new movie When's
It out Again?

Speaker 11 (13:02):
It was very juicy and you know, if you leave
a burger a bit too long, it starts disintegrating.

Speaker 9 (13:06):
So I was wrestling with this massive burg through.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
You can see the whole horror show next week.

Speaker 4 (13:12):

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Hey, It's Wednesday morning. Welcome to the Christian o'connells Show
on God. This show is on a mission right now,
save our pub. This week is the big fun week.
Every single day we're giving a pub that you told
us about, your local pub five thousand dollars, all thanks
to four X. The pub is calling somewhere between the
first sip and the last laugh. It's always a four X,

(17:34):
So we're going to go for this pub. Jody was
one of the early callers when we started this about
two weeks ago, telling us about the Royal Hotel, New
South Wales, Blaney. Jody, Yes, Jody, Christian, listen, thanks to
your lovely words, we decided to go with your local.
We're going to give them five thousand dollars get into town.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
Oh that is awesome.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
So the Royal Hotel, you're raving about it so much,
exactly the kind of pub that really needs helping out.
We're going to give them good news in it that
they've got five thousand dollars.

Speaker 14 (18:08):
Oh my god, that is unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Jody, thank you so much about telling us about your local. Okay,
stay there, we're going to call them up now give
them the good news.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Okay, yeah, awesome, all right.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Let's get it.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
We should have Linda from the Royal Hotel, New South Wales, Blainey.
It's a beautiful pub. Linda. Hi, Hey Linda, your live
on Goald. This is Christian O'Connell and the good news
is you've got five thousand dollars.

Speaker 10 (18:35):
Thank you so much, so it means the world. It's amazing.
We'll be able to do so much with that in
the kitchen.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Now, quite a few people have told us about what
a great pub you run. So first of all, I
think this is is there rights you and your husband?

Speaker 7 (18:46):
Yep, it is, and Damien, Damon, Damon.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
We've done our research and congratulations and hopefully five thousand
dollars will help you guys out.

Speaker 10 (18:55):
It will thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
So what do you think you're going to do with
the money? What does the pub need at the moment?
What does the Royal Hotel need?

Speaker 10 (19:01):
I'm going to spend the five thousand on probably a
new pizza oven or a new stove. Our stove's about
thirty years old. Our pizza oven blew up. We need shelving.
There's endless possibilities.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Great, and tell us about the pub. Then how long
have you you guys been running it.

Speaker 10 (19:18):
We've been here about twenty years. We run a very
busy kitchen, but it's a tiny little kitchen. We managed
to pump out lots of meals from there.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
And what he did? You love live music? They give
yourself a plug.

Speaker 10 (19:28):
Yeah, we have live music probably once a month, have
lunch specials and dinner specials every day.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
What's the best special State night night.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Oh that's a good deal. That's a great deal. So
you probably would have seen them over the years. The
reason why we're doing this, Slender is because people aren't
going out to the pub so much anymore. You know,
it's two easy to stay indoors and stream and watch stuff,
which is a real shame. Have you noticed that in
your time of the last.

Speaker 7 (19:51):
Twenty years, Yes, definitely has.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Well. We're glad to help out.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
You know, a great pub like yours as well, deserves
to be supported at least great news hours. Everyone knows
about your pub, they can drop in and say hello
and have the steak night. Oh awesome, lovely. Well, congratulations
to the Royal Hotel and blame me Linda. Well done,
you win. You are today's five thousand dollars winner.

Speaker 10 (20:11):
Thank you so much, Christian and four x Jody for
nominating us pubs deserve it. It's a great thing to
be saving pubs, all right.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Well, listen.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Well done, You're a deserved winner.

Speaker 9 (20:21):
Thank you very much, Thank you very.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Much, Linda.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Good luck with the Royal Hotel, The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
Now Tomorrow morning, big show for us. The show turns
eight years of age when we begin tomorrow morning show
we will be doing. We will start show number one thousand,
five hundred and twelve and as a thank you for
each of those shows and the last eight years, big
thing for my family tomorrow as well, because if actually

(20:49):
the people hadn't actually listened to the show, supported the
show and it was something completely different when I started
an English guy unknown on breakfast radio in Australia, there's
no life for my wife here, my daughter as well.
So tomorrow each show is a gift, and my gift
to you is what at the equal amount Viennetta's. So
it's one thousand and five hundred and twelve shows and

(21:11):
tomorrow morning from six and we are giving away one
thousand and five hundred and twelve Vianettas.

Speaker 13 (21:19):
Let's keep the right stuff, celebrate and listen. Christian's back
with the dessert from heaven.

Speaker 15 (21:24):
Mom say good for a special occasion, but we're gonna
give them to their na.

Speaker 5 (21:28):
I'll fill it out for you.

Speaker 9 (21:29):
Take a pen and write it down. One five one two.

Speaker 15 (21:32):
Bianettas still fancy God hate for Nick or Nina or Nancy.
The show's eight two days radios this give away. All
you gotta do is call in and say give it
to me. Christian, I am hungres.

Speaker 5 (21:44):
So you know we got a minimum order. Take it
least sink to or none left over. The clock is
digging it over to you.

Speaker 9 (21:50):
Call now one three five five two two.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Wow, it's announced the one five one two. I prefer
that way rather than one thousand and five twelve one
five one two like Beverly Hills nine O two one
oh exactly. That is great work Forreo Fairy, very very
very good. Uh So we have all the vinettas one
five to one two v Neettas between two radio stations

(22:14):
in Melbourne and in Sydney. There are freezers everywhere. Pete
has been running this intern pee. Good morning, Pete.

Speaker 16 (22:21):
Twenty three hours and forty eight minutes to go Australia.
We are counting down for Vinetta dayDay.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Christian, I reckon we'll have given away by tomorrow morning.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
This time tomorrow morning, what maybe one hundred of.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
Them were better with minimum for sure, for sure.

Speaker 16 (22:35):
Yeah, I'm also hoping we do give away a lot
of them as well, because we've only got so many
stuff here at the radio station as well for leftovers.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
All right, So what is the latest?

Speaker 2 (22:42):
When we spoke about this two days ago, Pete, we
were trying to get hold of freezers. We've got the freezers.
We've got all the varnettas. There are actually some of
the studio in these big it's actually a slab of Viennetta.

Speaker 6 (22:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 16 (22:53):
Absolutely, major Vnetta update here this morning, ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 7 (22:56):
Of course, yesterday or the day before, we said.

Speaker 16 (22:58):
Look you can only get a minimum sorry, not only
you get a minimum of five.

Speaker 7 (23:02):
We're not just going to give one away.

Speaker 16 (23:03):
The major update is, as they arrived late last night,
I can confirm they are going to be packets of
six because they come in a six packer case.

Speaker 7 (23:11):
So this is very important.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
Years.

Speaker 7 (23:12):
So you don't just get five, you get six.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Well, this is a major Vinetta update. Yes, so it's
multiples of six as well, that's right, because you could
have us, We've got a family and our thirteen kids
were you're getting eighteen. Wow, we're that's great.

Speaker 16 (23:31):
So just to be clear, we've got ninety three kilos
of ice cream at radio stations across the country as
we speak right now.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
In equation, that's.

Speaker 16 (23:39):
About one adult rhino, two grand pianos, fifteen kangaroos, thirty
three golden retrievers. Yeah, so there's a lot of stats
that are playing around with v and as if we
run out of things to talk about.

Speaker 7 (23:50):
But look, this is very, very exciting.

Speaker 16 (23:52):
I can tell you big shout out the streets, by
the way, because they ended up supplying the freezers, which
I didn't think to ask them in the first place.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
I thought, well, we've got lots of ice cream.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
It's a good idea. I mean, yeah, they're the experts
in this. They meet this stuff.

Speaker 16 (24:02):
I know, I was exploring ice rinks and all sorts
of stuff and maybe we can borrow. But hey, let's
just ask the people that actually own the product. So
that's all sorted. We have freezer space. We are ready
to go tomorrow morning. Viennetta's Baby, all right.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
So the way we see this eppisode, it's one five
to one two. Vannetta's for one five to one two
radio shows over the last eight years. So it starts
to tomorrow morning at six am and then by Friday
ten am when we say goodbye, they all need to
have gone everything in one of them. No, every single
one of them has to go. We need the office
space back next week as well. All right, so you

(24:33):
can join the Va NetTel wait list right now, give
us a call. Don't forget, don't even call up. If
you one, one or two, it's at least six of
these are well. Can we have a slap as well?

Speaker 9 (24:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (24:46):
Sure, I mean were allowed to go early. It's not
our birthday year.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
No, you can't do that. Come on, this is our
Christmas Eve Christian Connell Show podcast. So I moved here
eight years ago and tomorrow eight years of the show
to celebrate. As we begin tomorrow morning at six am,
show number one thousand, five hundred and twelve, we give
to you all those shows back in Viennetta's I can't

(25:11):
believe we're actually doing this, Pete, how do you factually
taking one to wa.

Speaker 7 (25:16):
I can do that. I can do whatever it needs
to be done. Absolutely, have we got.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Yes, someone wants one.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
They're listening to us and Becky is a big fan
of the show, but she is over in Wa.

Speaker 1 (25:27):
She wants a six pack?

Speaker 2 (25:28):
How are not we actually? How are you going to
get it there? Pete, fire up your mum's holden that.

Speaker 7 (25:34):
We can do that. A few ice packs I think
will be good.

Speaker 16 (25:36):
And I've got one of those plugging eskys that goes
into the old cigarette lighter as well, so we are
good to go.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
It's going to w A, there's no question about it.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Becky is in something in Google Maps, Mandura, w Wa.
Becky wants a six pack. Becky, we'll work it out.
We will get you the six pack. Here is Rio's
birthday Viennetta song.

Speaker 13 (25:56):
Let's check the right stuff, celebrate and listen. Christians with
the dessert from heaven. Mom saved good for a special occasion,
but we're going to give them to their nature.

Speaker 9 (26:06):
I'll spill it out for you. Take a pen right down,
one five, one.

Speaker 15 (26:09):
Two, Bianettas still fancy god et for Nick, Nino or Nancy.
The show's eight two days radio speak this give away.
All you gotta do is call in and say give
it to me. Christian, I am hungres so.

Speaker 5 (26:22):
You know we got a minimum order. Take it least
seater or none left over.

Speaker 15 (26:26):
The clock is digging it over to you gone now one, three, five, five, two.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
Two, very very good, one of your finest ones, Orio, Christian,
are you the reason I couldn't get a Vanetta in
Woolli's last night. Yeah, we got them all. I don't
reckon there are any left in this great country.

Speaker 11 (26:44):
We're holding them, Christian.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
I'd love some vetters. I know, listen, I know in
this country, short and everything. Come on, give them that
full name for the staff at my school. We just
raised ten thousand dollars for Cancer Council yesterday, so it
be a nice treat to some of the staff to
work very hard, Jerry Penny. Yes, we we'll definitely give
you some. Some owner's on the line now, Good morning, Simone. Hello,

(27:12):
hello Christian.

Speaker 17 (27:14):
Can you can you get me lots of ice cream?

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Yes, we can. You've got to have at least six, Yeah.

Speaker 18 (27:20):
In need at least six.

Speaker 17 (27:20):
We've got a family of five.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
So family of five?

Speaker 1 (27:23):
So what three kids?

Speaker 19 (27:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Three kids?

Speaker 1 (27:25):
And how old are they?

Speaker 3 (27:27):
They're all adults, but they're all living at home and
they would be really excited to have lots of ice cream.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
In my mind, I've got the image of like step
brothers in the house, you know, like grown Man for the.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Radio show.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
How old's the oldest?

Speaker 2 (27:42):
One? Sign?

Speaker 18 (27:44):
Twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (27:47):

Speaker 18 (28:21):

trying to secure this new place, we're finally moving next
week and all my four kids and their partners and
grandkids are all coming over for our last meal in
the house after twenty four years.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Right, it's can I like a last supper in the house?

Speaker 18 (28:42):
Exactly right? Yes?

Speaker 2 (28:43):
And those disciples would have had a better last supper
if they had delicious Fietta that's missing those picture If
I say photos, Joe, yes, you can have some for
the last supper.

Speaker 18 (28:55):
Oh fantastic, Thank you very much.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
I do.

Speaker 17 (29:11):
I volunteer every week at a local age care facility
for isolated old.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
People, and you know they love gold and.

Speaker 17 (29:21):
I would really love to bring them some vianettas bring
up morale.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Oh my god, what a lovely thing to do and
go and help, especially the isolated elderly as well. That
bless you for doing that. Yes, I mean how many
are there?

Speaker 3 (29:33):
I think there's about fifty to live there.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
I think it's you a head count when you get there.
Little You can't have them. You can't have them going missing, mate,
Oh we know they could be wandering the streets.

Speaker 19 (29:45):
You have to do a stock take.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
You do you have to do a stock take? You're right?

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Well, okay, Well let's then say there's fifty. Now, these
are only a multiples of six. My mats is terrible.
So how many slams that eight?

Speaker 5 (30:03):
If they want one six eight forty eight.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
You can't have any of the old people go missing.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Give them an extra fifty four.

Speaker 5 (30:10):
We'll give you nine.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Okay, it's the highest order so far. All right, now
you're in Okay, we're going to give you fifty four vinettas.

Speaker 19 (30:19):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
And please do that head count later on today Christian

We hear at h m as penguin love the show

Speaker 5 (30:35):
You're kidding, wow, wee wow.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
I have a great command team here that would really
love some Viennettas He's gonna have to get a little
dirigible and chuck chuk.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Chuk tuk tuk tuk chuchuk tuk tuk tuk and get
it over to you guys. Yes, how many do you
do you need? Jack?

Speaker 2 (30:51):
This is a lovely message from Joe Christian. Vinetta holds
the most magical place in my Christmas memories. Every year,
my brother and I made absolutely sure it Farren's went
into our family shopping is because no Festa celebration was
complete without gracing our table. The moment of slicing through
those gorgeous chocolate layers pure joy.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Really, because young.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Kids now won't understand this really was a forbidden pleasure.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Wasn't it. And I would even say you could even
guarantee you'd get it on your birthday. There was no guarantee.
You were hoped, but you didn't know.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
Now, I'd love to share some Christian seeing as you
have so many with incredible staff at Giant Steps Sydney,
an extraordinary team who poured their hearts into supporting children
with autism every single day. They deserve something truly special
and nothing is special more than Australia's most iconic ice
cream dessert. Please can we make some new memories together
with these special kids?

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Joe?

Speaker 2 (31:43):
How many you need? You can have them absolutely all right.
Yesterday Rio and I went on a secret road trip.
We're telling next Tuesday why. We were in Queensland and
it went a fantastic time. Were checking out a pub
to save our pub. But anyway, when we were at
Brisbane Airport waiting for our flight back, something happened which
has never ever happened to me before.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
It has it ever happened to you before?

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Never?

Speaker 1 (32:06):
I felt ashamed.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
They called Rio and I's name over the speakers at
Brisbane Airport.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
Now where were we were? At the bar?

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (32:21):
I thought you were omitting a crucial deca.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
You have to give context.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
It was four pm, Patsy, that was the time.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
No, it was actually three fifty two pm, and I felt,
we've got time for another sneaky, another sneaky for X.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
I went to the bathroom.

Speaker 11 (32:36):
I was, I'm going to bathroom, and then when I
three fifty three fifty.

Speaker 5 (32:39):
Five, I said, we got to go straight.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Away to smash these back.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Hydra.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
I always say, hydrate before you fly.

Speaker 5 (32:46):
I come back. There's two huge dew.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
They were pots or schooners, zipp. They were small amounts,
small amounts they had that. Yeah, and so we were
chugging them back. And then suddenly that's a oh god,
that's not us, is it, And that we're still searching
for two passengers re Ordinary and Chris you know color,

(33:09):
Oh my god, that's us.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
We don't have to sprint.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
With bellies with out two bigs running down to get
on the blane.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
I was so ashamed.

Speaker 5 (33:18):
I was.

Speaker 11 (33:18):
And you have the walk of shame when you get
into the into the actual airport and everyone's looking at you,
knowing how you're holding us up.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Lust They saw us just sprint as well from the bar.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
Five minutes later they were they were really running a.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
Tight ship.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
So anyway, we want your stories today. Why were they
calling your name over the speakers? A couple of years
ago we were blessed with an amazing story on a
Wednesday actually for what are the Odds? The great Man
Alvan Singh, the case of not one but two Arvan Singh's.

Speaker 20 (33:51):
I was flying over from Fiji to Melbourne and wandering
around the three shop at the Nanty International Airport. There's
an announcement over the edicom goes passenger by the name
of Alvan Singh please report to the Chester Canda. So
I head off to the counter and guess what, there's
another name and he's also fang or PROFRIGI into Melbourne.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
On the greatest What are the Odds Ever?

Speaker 4 (34:16):
The Christian o'connall show podcast.

Speaker 1 (34:19):
Christian, my name is Robert.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
I'm flying to Perth a week Thursday, the Thursday of
the eleventh of June. If you want me to take
the parcel with me of the Vinetta's to meet the
listener there, Becky, I'm gonna be in Freemantle attend days,
happy to arrange a pickup. Yes, you really should pack
your own bags and not take suspicious packages from us, yes,

(34:41):
most of all.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
But also five hour flight we're gonna have to make
maybe ask the flight attendants if you can pop it
in their freezer.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
So that they've got a big deep freeze.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
There has crammed that little what's it called the galley there? Yes,
he make so much use of such a small spaces.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Clear some space for the v and six pack of Vanettas.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
All right, so we're looking for your stories. Why was
your name called out over the intercom? This is a
great story just been emailed to me by Shooner Christian
not intercom. But my son Michael took his dog to
the vet. The nurse comes out and calls out Michael Parker.
He stands up with his dog, so does a lady nearby.
Turns out her dog's name was Michael Parker. Ny, what

(35:22):
are the odds?

Speaker 1 (35:24):
That's that's also? What are the odds?

Speaker 2 (35:26):
His name was Michael Parker. Her dog had a human name.
Dogs of human names I can never get enough of.
When I'm down the door part, it's here someone yelling Kevin,
and some little poodle comes running over.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
I'm like, this gets me.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
If you time, Michael Parker showed her that's a great one.
We got Kathy here. It's got a wild story. Morning Kathy, Hi,
how are you? I'm good, Kathy, Welcome to the show.
So why were they calling your name out over the
intercom in Bali?

Speaker 19 (35:52):
Bet oh maybe ten years ago where they're calling? Because
I couldn't understand half the Indonesian that was going on and.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
Where is that country? Yeah, I can't understand Australian.

Speaker 18 (36:05):
And of course they're.

Speaker 19 (36:06):
Calling, you know, like Nellie last called to Bali to
Melbourne and we when we checked in, it said one A.
So we start heading towards the one A gate lounge
and there's not a soul in the gate land and
we're thinking, oh my gosh, we're we're going to miss
the plane. So we go under the ropes, down the stairs,
down the gateway to the plane. Get to the plane.

(36:27):
They look at our boarding paths, get on and we're
supposed to be Jet Star and it's a Garuda plane
and anyway, so I go to the seats and there's
people in our seats and I'm going to the air
host dess you know, there's people here, and they said, oh,
look at where's your boarding parts? So I give it
to the boarding path and she goes, oh, you go

(36:48):
to Melbourne and I said yes, and she goes, oh,
we go to Jakarta.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
How did let you on?

Speaker 19 (36:56):
I don't know, and especially after the Valley bombings, you know,
and all that sort of stuff. But anyway, so we're
on the wrong plane. So then we get back out
and to the walkway areas and we're thinking we'll walk
gate Lands.

Speaker 15 (37:07):
Do we have to go do so?

Speaker 19 (37:08):
Then we hear the call out, Am I allowed to
say my name?

Speaker 2 (37:13):
Or yeah?

Speaker 19 (37:17):
But anyway they called my name with my Sturt name.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Unless you're on the run, I can't see why you were.
I mean, we read people's full names every single down.

Speaker 19 (37:25):
To you, missus Catherine Chiggenner, What.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
Did you do that for? Now everyone's going to know
who you are. Play We're get in trouble for this.
You can't have names on the radio. I'm joking.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
I'm joking.

Speaker 19 (37:42):
Anyway, Then they didn't know how to pronounce my husband's
first name, this big gap in the time. And then
they go and mister Catherine Chiggener and I'm going question,
has my husband's run off? And it's like Gateway, you know,
gate Lands nine, which is like down the other end
of the airport.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
Come on movie.

Speaker 19 (38:05):
The guy comes running at me and he grabs my
case and I don't know, we're going to say that
you guys, are you miss And I said yes, and
he goes he grabs a case and because I go,
it's not the case that's holding me up, you know,
because I couldn't run so anyway. But then we get
on the plane because then we have to have their
cases checked, get on the plane, and then the whole

(38:26):
plane because we're the last seats the whole plane claptuss.
But then we did find out there were a few
others that went to the gate. Lay hilarious, got us
on the plane. Okay, security is not that.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Good, all right, Kathy, lovely stuff. And that's our that's
our ambassador to Indonesia there. Thank you very much, Kathy.
Let's go to Lianne. Now, Leanne, Hi, how are you?
This team did do the legal training, didn't they A Leanne? Yeah,
we're good and welcome to the show. Why was your
name called out over the intercom?

Speaker 17 (39:11):
The same thing that happened to you happened to me
at Brisbane Airport. Also, yeah, I was actually on the plane.
I walked onto the plane and the flight attendant scanned
my boarding part and as I went to walk off,

(39:31):
he said, have a lovely flight, doctor, and I said sorry.
He said, oh, doctor, have a lovely flight. I said,
I'm not a doctor, and he said, oh, let's go
and check. So we walked down and there was a
doctor sitting in the seat that I was supposed to
be sitting in, and he said, we've got to fix
this up. So I got walked off the plane. So

(39:53):
walk of shame off the plane.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
You're not the doctor. Doctor who?

Speaker 17 (40:04):
And then the lady at the front says, oh, we've
been calling you all over Their ports are ancients. And
I said, well, I've been on the plane, so I
couldn't get back on the plane until they sell me
a seat on the plane.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
You're coming coming off, you're coming off.

Speaker 17 (40:22):
I don't know where I was going.

Speaker 11 (40:24):
I would like to see if anyone has actually been
on a plane and gone on the wrong plane and
flown to the destination that's happened. It might, but you
know what, in Australia, they checked the when you get
on the plane, but some countries they don't. In Europe

You was Cheryl who married a Hun who.

Speaker 5 (41:45):

Speaker 2 (41:52):
All right, some great stories you had last week?

Speaker 1 (41:54):
What are the answer is there?

Speaker 3 (41:55):
Seven year a chapterween my sister and I.

Speaker 19 (41:57):
I married a Jason who worked with power poles.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
She married Jason who also worked with power poles.

Speaker 14 (42:02):
I asked this lam to come and help me clean
through some things. Rang me when he got home and said, mom,
I can't sign my wedding with many. Many months later,
he works in it and he got a call from
someone saying their computer wasn't working. Opened it up and
what was in the bottom of the computer case. But
he's weirding herring. I was working at a small local
club and I was involved in an armhold up and

(42:24):
down the road my cousin was involved in an armhold
up at a bank same morning.

Speaker 2 (42:28):
Told you we get all sorts of stories. Give us
a call out. Thirteen fifty five twenty two will begin
with this email Christian. Last year I was celebrating my
sixtieth by booking a trip to Spain to walk the
France's Way, seven hundred and seventy ks from the south
of France to Santiago to Compostella. It's a legendary trick.
This one of the most beautiful ones in the world.

(42:49):
It's about thirty five days to do. My wife and
I will be doing this one day. Always want to
do it. I traveled with Raw Travel, who organized my
accommodation and bank transfers. I left San Jean Pierre de
Port on the eighth of April, walking for four days
and had to rest in Pamplona. Pamplona is famous for
the running of the balls. Over the next few days,
I kept seeing this woman at all the hotels, just

(43:11):
to use your pleasantries at first. A few days later
we found ourselves walking together got chatting. We realized we
both booked through raw travel. She left the day after
me and skipped the rest day, so we caught up
along the way. We started talking about flowers as we
were passing. She mentioned poppies were her mother's favorites and
that she'd left flowers and a grape before the trip
In Marden. I said, oh, manbe my family's in Morden

(43:32):
well from the eighteen fifties. Yes, there were Stonemason. She
asked my surname, I said Bo. She said, I'm Helen Bo.
Helen then contacted her siblings in Australia. They sent her
a PDF off her family tree. Who wasn't pdf ready
to go and even trying to send those things to
the flipping nightmare. When we open up the file and checked,

(43:52):
we confirmed that our great great grandfathers were brothers and
we were related.

Speaker 6 (43:58):
Wow.

Speaker 12 (43:59):
Crazy.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
From there, everything lined up saying forty one day travel
through Spain, finishing in Santiago on the seventies of the May.
I mentioned I was catching a train to Madrid on
the nineties, So was Helen trained departing.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
At eleven forty eight a m.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
So was Heelen. We went from never having met to
walking together for the next eighteen days. We even wore
the same shoe size and swapped during the day to
see what we're pest with. This is my favorite bit
of it that in the PDF and swapping shoes on
this legendary pilgrimage hostally traveling eighteen thousand k's.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
To find a family member. What are the odds?

Speaker 5 (44:36):
Incredible story.

Speaker 1 (44:38):
Thank you so much for that story. Great story.

Speaker 4 (44:40):
Christian O'Connell show podcast.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
What are the odds? Your stories of coincidence and chants
brand new time waste to coming up in five minutes time. Christian,
here is a little coincidence which may or may not
be radio worthy.

Speaker 1 (44:56):

Speaker 2 (44:57):

if only could have that level of discernment that you.

my best friend lived. I was number eighteen, became my
way in Los Angeles. My number was eighteen. That's all
they ever referred to me as number eighteen.

Speaker 1 (45:14):
What a country. Then my son was born on.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
His birth certificate, he was born eighteen hundred hours in
eighteen minutes.

Speaker 5 (45:21):
Wow, is there one more?

Speaker 11 (45:25):
Maybe?

Speaker 19 (45:25):
No, no, no, no, no no no.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
The trail runs gold there. But it's a good one.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
I like it, Antonios Christian Earlier wea want to know
if anyone had actually flown into the wrong location, well
accidentally on purpose.

Speaker 1 (45:39):
That was my mate and I. This is some story.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
We were flying out of a smaller airport in Greece
going to just Lorf in Germany, flying Loftthandza. While we
wait till we noticed that was another loftthansa flight heading
to Miyorca, leaving an hour earlier. So we devised the
plan to turn left woman were supposed to turn right
to get onto our flight. We made it to mi
Yorca and then played dumb saying we followed the instructions

(46:03):
we were given and accidentally brackets to you guys on purpose,
Wing Wing got on the wrong flight. Lufthans were accepted
it was their error. Paid for our accommodation for three
nights in New Yorker until we can get another flight
to just a door. Had a great time. Thoroughly recommend
me Yorka and flying via Lufthansa. That's a great story, Antonio,

(46:24):
that's very good. Fiona's on the line and one in Fiona.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
Hi Christian, this is my story. I emigrated from the UK,
went to high school in the Pen. One of my
high school friends were kept in contact where she left
and moved to Tasmania. Every year sin Christmas cards. Fast
forward a couple of years. I then met my Mauritian
born husband at a friend's wedding. When I'd introduced the

(46:51):
two of them at work. Anyway, that year, I said
a Christmas card to my friends saying I met this
wonderful man Colin owned the details is. She thought, that's
a bit funny. I know the name of the person, Colin.
She then took the car to her friend said look,
this is a card from Fiona, and her friend had

(47:13):
a card from Colin saying, oh, he's marrying Fiona. So
we never knew that they actually knew each other in Tasmania.
They had a card from each of us.

Speaker 1 (47:24):
Wow, at first I thought you were saying that he
was already married.

Speaker 4 (47:29):
No, no, no no.

Speaker 3 (47:30):
I introduced two work friends to each other.

Speaker 2 (47:33):
