Speaker 2 (01:41):
Good morning Alex, Morning, Morning, morning Alex. You're working very
hard today. You're doing news and sport.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
I'm here.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
It's also party could lose an award last night. We
were going to get her on the show today, but
we do not chat to losers. Right now, she's she's
demolishing a hotel suitet somewhere ugly scenes. Apparently she got
up to get the award anyway, even though it wasn't
her own name, and snatchednat out of somebody else's hands
and then battled them with it.

Speaker 6 (02:07):
She did a Kanye West then yes all.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
In one person, So yeah, I actually do. You're on
news and Sport today, so thank you very much for
doing that.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
Team.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
I just need to let you know if you see
me walking funny or sat funny. Today's because I've got
an ice pack down the back of my pants. When
I had the I would see the kyro yes say,
trying to get some relief.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
In my back.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
So an accupuncture in the morning, Cairo in the afternoon.
The chiropractice was brilliant, and they also insisted that I
needed X rays and then insisted that I pay a
lot of money for them.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
It's very expensive weeks.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
It's turned out to be here, not like eating and drinking,
but just maintaining my back so I can walk and
sit without crying. And they said, hey, listen, you should
we have the ice pack now as you walk out
of here. And I said, I'm not waddling down the
streets of Sydney looking like I've doctor Doody in my pants.
I said, also, it's like it looks like it could
start to slide down the back of my leg.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
And it's a hell of a look. Hell of a look.
Not an Englishman's out.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
And get this when I went to do these X rays,
so we didn't take some X ray so we see
what's going on with the spine there.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
And I was like okay. And so I was already
stripped away.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
So she was asking me like they normally do, you know,
ask you to ben for just to see how your
spine is working and when it's jammed up. She then goes, oh,
if you just walk back through reception and into the
X ray room and I don't want to be like,
ohut the top one, I went, it's just through there
is that? She goes, yep, So I didn't walk behind
reception where the reception is packed with about thirty incredibly old,

(03:35):
frail people and me.

Speaker 6 (03:38):
Getting the treat of their life.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
They were a.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Show was going on, not quite magic, mikegic, We're all right,
what was that shirtless guy that just wondering behind reception?
Then I took the photos and I was like, I'm
going to walk back through reception again now giving oh yeah, tease,
really don't don't just don't just take the top off.

(04:00):
Keep going. You want some money, young man? All right,
there's two double thumbs up. We do this every Friday
on the show. We go around the team we talk
about the TV shows, movies, anything that we're into at
the moment that we want to recommend to you guys.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
Double thumbs up our recommendations. Who do this every Friday,
you might find somebody want to watch over the weekend.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Share what you've enjoyed as well.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Text me four seven five three one oh four three Christian,
thank you for recommending that insane three part documentary about
the Scottish murderer. Yeah, you'll see it on Netflix. It's
one of the biggest shows in the world right now.
Thank you very much to Marie who I'm glad you
enjoyed it and.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
You also like me.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
You watch all the three episodes back to back. It
is the craziest story and it's a true real life
story as well. Highly recommended. Really you saw it as well.
It's crazy, isn't it.

Speaker 7 (04:52):
One of the crazy You just see a woman makes
some of the most baffling decisions you've ever seen in
your life.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
I found myself watching it as a dad, just going
oh God, and that you see her poor dad on
the TV show just collapse in on himself. Yeah, you know,
and I was just thinking, oh my god, just you
raise them, you know, and you have to let them
go into the world and they've got to find their
own way through it. I found myself it was hard
watch at times, but it all ends. I can't recommend

(05:21):
it enough. Though it's called Should I Marry a Murder?
It's a true life true crime documentary. Three parts. This
three episodes. I doubt yours break them up like a
day apart. It's insane, all.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Right for me.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
If you're looking for a brilliant movie to watch this weekend,
they it was an Amazon Prime series. Starr in the
brilliant Strong Krasdinsky that the Jack Ryan TV Show was
very very good round for light three or four seasons.
They've turned it now into a movie, an Amazon movie.
It is outstanding. Just a really good Friday night on
the couch, beer popcorn, smart thriller.

Speaker 6 (05:57):
Is he the guy from the Office?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (05:59):
What's he like? Is you a spy?

Speaker 2 (06:01):
He's great in this. Yeah, he's very very good. Also,
do you ever see The Quiet Place? The two movies? No,
that looks very very good. But yeah, I cannot recommend
that that enough. That is a brilliant Friday night movie.
The other thing I'm really enjoying at the moment is,
I don't know if you've ever seen any of the
TV shows. He's been doing them for years. Of the
British TV chef rick Stein. Yes, now he's going he

(06:23):
goes all over the world. You know, these days there
are so many travel shows and chef shows, aren't they
And Anthony Bordain was my favorite one. But I also
have always loved rick Stein. I think he does a
great job. Mainly appears to be drinking his.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Way around the world. What a great job. Beautiful locations.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
He just goes and gets pissed, you know, and does
he occasional occasional he might just talk something around in
a walk, but then back to more slurping wine, drinking
beer in exotic locations.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
Anyways, come to Australia. He's obviously run out of countries.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Oh yeah, been there, Spain, done four seasons there, France,
Live there Australia.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Okay, he's come to Australia.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
Doing some fine dining or what's he No, no, no.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
The first episode is Sydney and it's a brilliant episode.
There's one bit where he goes walking by himself out
west Man. Yeah, with no security.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
It is brilliant.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
He came to Australia and Sydney when he was twenty
and he didn't know what he wanted to do with
his life. And he found himself and so he's like
retracing his steps as a young man, going back to that,
catching up with some chefs that ain't got to know.
Here he catch up with someone who's known a very
long time, the brilliant Cheffer and Neil Perry as well.
The whole season I learned not watching the whole season
this week is really really good. Rick Stein Australia make

(07:39):
you very proud of Australia as well.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
But the oddest thing is just seeing him.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Well, there's one scene where he's smashing He's knocking back
a can of west End and having a bag of
hot chips and I'm like, he must have tasted some
of the greatest drinks on.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
French ones, you know, like one hundred years old.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
He's having an ice cold, frothy a can of west End.

Speaker 6 (07:59):
A beautiful aged west End from Lead Hills.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yes, but it was just something reassuring about it.

Speaker 8 (08:04):
He goes up to Lake Macquarie, which is where my
wife's from, just south of newcast and they go fossicking
for cockle.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
That's it. It's so good.

Speaker 2 (08:13):
I cannot recommend it in a world where the news
is terrifying at the moment. There's something just reassuring about
Rick Stein and just and seeing him in Australia for fossicking.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
I didn't even know it was a verb.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
And then the other TV shoft discovered this week from
two thousand and eleven. Yeah, twenty eleven. I found a
TV show that I was just looking for something. It
too easy to watch this week and it's called it was.
It was called Round. For five seasons, Helles won the
greatest sci fi TV shows ever, So I started watching it.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
My god, I'm enjoying it so much.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
It is just because you see TV shows in twenty eleven, fashion.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Hair, everything was so different.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
It's not that long ago, but actually it is. Everything's
changed so much as well. But anyway, it's called person
of Interest. It is so good.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
How do you stumble upon a show from twenty eleven.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
The Algorithms Man the Algorithms? Hey you like that kind
of trash?

Speaker 1 (09:06):
How about this TV show from what a while ago?

Speaker 6 (09:09):
But I've never heard of?

Speaker 2 (09:12):
That's a listen on this feature. We just talk about
what we're enjoying at the moment. Rick Starns, Australia, Jack
Erind the movie and person of Interest from twenty to
eleven real, what's it for you?

Speaker 6 (09:22):
I've been watching Keep the Meta Running on YouTube.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Great, this is Kareem Rama's new show.

Speaker 7 (09:27):
Yes, so he's the guy you might have seen on Instagram.
Subway takee brilliant. He's just asked people on the subway
what they're hot takes and it's huge. It's one of
the biggest like media entities at the moment in the world.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
I never used that fred media entities unless you're doing
a Ted talk. It's one of the biggest TV shows
on YouTube. The interviews he does with celebrities are brilliant.
The Ethan Hawk one is amazing. And what is he
the guy from that he's on the desk on SNL
Colin Joust. Oh, that one is outstanding. Yeah, his new
show is fantastic, isn't it.

Speaker 6 (09:58):
It's brilliant.

Speaker 7 (09:59):
So what he does He jumps in a cab, a
random cab in New York and says, take me to
your favorite restaurant. Will keep the metera running, so he
keeps paying them. They jump into the restaurant.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Well, the one I saw goes to some Turkish guys
bath house.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
I haven't seen that.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
That's not his favorite restaurant, a restaurant.

Speaker 6 (10:16):
The most recent one I saw was amazing.

Speaker 7 (10:18):
They jump into this Pakistani restaurant, I think, And then
he tells him that he's got seven hundred and seventy
jokes or something and he's always wanted to be a
stand up comedian, and Kareem sets up for later that
night for this cab driver to do his first ever stand.

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Up Do you know what suit about this is the
fact that you think this was a completely random camp
come interesting taxi driver in the world. If I jumped
in one right now, I'd find someone who like.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
You know what?

Speaker 7 (10:49):
We had last night? We went out for dinner. Our
cab driver was very interesting. He had ten siblings, all brothers,
all one year and two months apart, so they're forty.

Speaker 6 (11:01):
Yeah, isn't that crazy?

Speaker 7 (11:02):
And that was just a random cab, sir, So you hole,
you can't just jump in any random cas.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
No person interested in twenty eleven real, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Christian Connor Show Podcast, Christian.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
I was trying to get out the house. What was
a Friday night movie recommendation? It is the new Jack
Rye movie John Krasinski. It's on Amazon Prime enjoy Frank
if you're gonna watch it. Christian rick Stein has a
new restaurant in Sydney at Kaji. We're going there tonight.
Oh we should go. I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Also, Christian. His wife is Australian. Karen.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
My favorite TV show at the moment, Christian. My double
thumbs up. Margo's Got Money Troubles. My wife has just
started watching that. She loves it with Ellie Fanning and
Michelle five for I think, Jennifer Christian check.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Out The Burrs on Netflix. I've seen this trail.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
It especially build as Stranger Things for grown Ups starts
a great out alfhad Melina Christian.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
It's very very good. That's one Jennifer.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
And a photo of someone enjoying a Maretti beer right now,
an Italian, beautiful Italian beer. Christian, how doing from the
AMBRESSI terme in beautiful Tuscany right now listening to the show.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Sorry to hear it's raining. Cheers keV.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
That looks amazing where you are enjoy but just a Caitlin,
what's your double thumbs up?

Speaker 9 (12:23):
Mine is off campus now. I'm sure a lot of
people will be talking about this already. It is amazing
At first, I was a bit apprehensive. Everyone was talking
about it was going nuts on TikTok. My wife and
I decided to sit down last week and watch it.
Over the weekend, we watched the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Oh was it good. It's getting a lot of rave reviews,
a money.

Speaker 10 (12:41):
It's incredible.

Speaker 9 (12:42):
It's just really nice and wholesome, and it's got good
undertones of like really important messages for younger people as well,
and so we really really liked it. It's about a
girl called Hannah and a guy called Garrett, the classic
which I love of like the geek and the brawn,
the guy that plays the hockey and the handsome man,
and then the girl that's the really smart one that

(13:03):
wants the other hot guy and he's going to fake
date her to help her get his heart and then she's.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
So basically it's a high school musical.

Speaker 10 (13:10):
Yeah, basically, yeah, exactly the same. But it's really really good.
It's really nice, and it's actually got a lot of
ossies in it.

Speaker 9 (13:15):
So the heart throb that she's after justin he's actually
an Aussie and he's really really handsome. Classic Ozzy and
then Classic because we're all handsome.

Speaker 1 (13:26):
I don't know. There's quite a few fuggies. It's some
more fuglies on TV.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
You know. I saw a couple in rick Stines, Australia.
They obviously couldn't get them out of the shot quick enough.
In fact, I might picture a TV show right to
seven or seven mate of fuglies of Australia.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
I'm here in Adelaide today surrounded by fuglies.

Speaker 10 (13:44):
You won't find any because we're all.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
Oh, I will, I will which to search on the
on the on the show Australia?

Speaker 1 (13:51):
Which which streaming platform is that on?

Speaker 10 (13:53):
So it's on Amazon Prime check it out.

Speaker 9 (13:54):
It's also got our awesome g Flip doing some music
as well.

Speaker 10 (13:58):
So yeah, support.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
So is it an Australian show.

Speaker 10 (14:01):
No, it's not. It's American.

Speaker 9 (14:02):
But the lead girl she's actually British but does a
brilliant American accent.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
She's an actress that all the time.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
It's just like you've discovered acting as a concept.

Speaker 6 (14:15):
She pretends she's someone else.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Is this a thing?

Speaker 9 (14:22):
It's the world now where once you watch the show,
you have to like associates the world.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Now once I've discovered movies where people are doing accents.

Speaker 9 (14:30):
No, you have to like, you know, how you like
watching something like Oh where are they from?

Speaker 6 (14:33):
How old are they?

Speaker 10 (14:34):
Blah blah blah. So I did all that.

Speaker 9 (14:35):
Now it's on my TikTok algorithm and I know everything
about it.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
Gotcha? Okay?

Speaker 6 (14:39):
So the show is called Off Campus.

Speaker 10 (14:41):
It's on Amazon Prime. Check it out.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
It's awesome, brillant Christian o'connells show go on podcast.

Speaker 2 (14:48):

I think thoughts. I think it's only like fifteen up
to twenty maybe.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
I listen, I'm English.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
That's that's sort of nice farming day.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Make sure you wear slipslot fifteen degrees.

Speaker 7 (15:42):
It's a big last hurrah for our friendship group because
one of them has finally cracked and they're having kids.

Speaker 6 (15:48):
So they're going to be the first finally correct.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
It's a lovely journey to be a parent.

Speaker 7 (15:55):
Have held out for so long that no one has
had kids and now they've fallen trapped to the they.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Having falling trap to it.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
What a shortish journey.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
Yeah, you've got to grow up man and kid at
the part there's another word to be in your raised
that it's still like childless.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Wishing it, just wishing, just wishing it was that. I
can't everyone not have kids?

Speaker 6 (16:17):
That would be off. The pub is ruined by kids.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Can I just say they should be drinking in the
pubs on a Friday or Saturday night. Pubs, playgrounds exactly,
the pub gardens for.

Speaker 6 (16:27):
Kids, pub gardens so yeah, we'll be heading up.

Speaker 7 (16:31):
This is sort of our big last celebration as a
group before it all it all happens, So it'll be
one big send.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Off, big dinner for our eldest daughter Ruby. It is
her last day today at university. She does her last
exam in ten days time, but this is her last
day at actual university. And Rio, you've known me long enough,
you remember me dropping her off at university. That has
gone in the blink of an eye.

Speaker 6 (16:56):
I can't believe that.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Yeah, what, yeah, I know, it doesn't make any sense.
I'm like, how can I have a kid now who
is getting we need to graduate with a degree.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
Oh my god, that's actually plus.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
Now she's talking about sort of extending her studying. All
I'm thinking of it's mixed between oh, wonderful story and
wonderful to keep learning and growing and educating yourself.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
I was thinking, man, there's me. I'm still paying for this.

Speaker 6 (17:18):
When does it end?

Speaker 1 (17:20):
When would it end?

Speaker 6 (17:21):
How many years is that? Three years?

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (17:24):
Oh my god, that's terrifying.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
No, four years okay, yeah, fourt she's twenty two and
two much time, so yeah, four years, Alex, what are
you up to the suiteken, what's your knockoff?

Speaker 6 (17:46):
Absolute, huge game, massive.

Speaker 1 (17:49):

a home game as well. Haven't got far to go?

Speaker 6 (18:01):
Who are they up against?

Speaker 8 (18:02):
They're up against the Shooting Stars, so both sides run.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Who is Fairies? Is cute too? Both the names and
what's the insideline? What do you think?

Speaker 8 (18:11):
Well, already the parents of the other team know how
good our girls are, so there's been chats between the parents.

Speaker 1 (18:17):
Hope.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
No one's been filming training sessions. No, the spy gate
that was Southampton.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
Definitely not.

Speaker 8 (18:24):
But it's going to be on because one of our
best players may not be eligible available because she's got.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
A bit of an ear infection. So it's going to
be up to the girls.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
My girl, you can tell this is kids. Yeah, you know,
what do you everte about Michael Jordan not playing? He's
got a little bit of tilatous.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
He's got bung air.

Speaker 4 (18:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (18:43):
Look, hopefully she's okay, and hopefully we can grind the
stars into the ground.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Old. Yes, that's tiny tops playing grind them into dust.
White line cork fever.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
The Christian O'Connell show podcast.

at two am Sunday morning to watch the Mighty Arsenal

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Brad, don't take this the wrong way. I hope you lose.

Speaker 6 (19:21):
Heading to a hotel at two am.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Yeah, they'd be showing the game. Quite a lot of
women going.

Speaker 7 (19:25):
Shoot, she was getting a room to watch the so
he wouldn't make his wife up.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Hey, well, I.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Don't know who each their own good luck, Brad, should
be a great game. Christian knocking off early day starts
celebrating my brother in law's niece first Holy Communion. My
brother in law is forty five. He missed out doing
his first Holy Communion and four X is his favorite beer.
Welcome to the Church of four X. Let me Christ

(19:52):
and the little bub you know with some forets just
damped on the forehead.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Holy water lovely Christian. Were he gonn have a few
beers before going to the church. That'd be nice for everyone, Steve,
classy Christian to be a knockoff.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Today my weekend, we're putting up a new fence with
my neighbor and friends. A slab of four actually be
great for the end of the day after a hard labors. Jason,
you've got it. Let's stay some crawls now, who you
got here? Fran Good morning, fran welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Good morning. How are you Christian?

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Oh? Good? You had a good week, fran Ah, not too.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Bad, not too bad, pretty busy, but it's all all good.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Okay, we'll tell me you knocking off the day and
what's that? What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Speaker 1 (20:31):
Fran.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Well, I'm knocking off at about three o'clock this afternoon,
and I'm looking forward to book club this afternoon.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Oh girls, what book you reading at the moment? What's
this week's book of the ninth?

Speaker 3 (20:43):
James Rigles How to Retire Early. So we're all planning
to retire quite early if we can. That'd be lovely.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
And what what age do you think earlier?

Speaker 3 (20:51):
Is?

Speaker 1 (20:51):
What age? A you're going to retire.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
Well, I'm fifty seven, so that would be nice to
retire a little bit earlier than my wife.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Isn't stare She turns fifty seven at the end of
the year, and I'm really keen to her to get
out there seven days a week, you know, just find
extra work.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
And what's the book like?

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Is it good?

Speaker 3 (21:11):
It's very good? Actually, it's actually really really really inspirational. Actually,
so it's not retire from to retire too, which I
think is a pretty good analogy.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
I like that reframe retire And what would you do
when you retire? What would you look forward to doing?

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Go traveling or I.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
Do a lot of travel and enjoy the family which
is all over Australia. So I'm looking forward to being
able to catch up with him a lot more than
I do.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
Brilli. And how big is your book club? How many?
How many friends you got in that?

Speaker 3 (21:44):
We've got six? Great? Yes it has and it starts
early and finishes rather early in the morning too, So.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Okay, yeah, my wife was a member of a book
club for a while and just seemed to be more
about drinking than talking about the book. She'd be like
making cred notes from Google beforehand about what the book
was about, and then leave not with the book, but
with a bottle of rose.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
She'd come back outolutely planted.

Speaker 7 (22:12):
So it's not really how to entire early for you
guys tonight, it's going to be how to push long
into the night.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
How to drink late?

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Yes, and I hear, Christian, you've got a new book
coming out?

Speaker 2 (22:23):
I have, Yes, that's right in July. Yeah, unscript. Yeah,
maybe maybe I could join your book club. Do you
have authors in the book club?

Speaker 3 (22:31):
Sorry?

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Do you have authors? Come and join you in your
book club. I'll come and join you in your well
drinking club.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
I'd love that we start with the cocktail, so you
could suggest with which cock that we've done.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
I mean, okay, but me and for July when the
book's out, so I will.

Speaker 3 (22:45):
That'd be great.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
All right, enjoyed book club this afternoon. Nice chance, your fran, take.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Care, Thank you bank.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
That's good to ten. Now, Tim, what time you're knocking
off today? What's the high love of your weekend?

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Mate?

Speaker 11 (22:55):
Christian? Good morning? Knocking off at four o'clock this afternoon
and it comes soon enough.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
That's the spa, that's the spirit.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
And what do you do between now and then?

Speaker 1 (23:08):
What's your job, Tim?

Speaker 11 (23:10):
I'm in the crane industry, right, Okay, you're.

Speaker 1 (23:12):
Not up the crane. They're miserable.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
You're just looking at your watch the whole time where
you're swinging weights around our heads.

Speaker 11 (23:19):
Not at all, no, no more more off a guidance
if you could believe that, I can.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
And what are you up to this weekend?

Speaker 11 (23:26):
I am chopping firewood and I am chopping an absolute
ton of it, just to keep the fires going, keep
the house warm, keep the miss on points, the kids quiet.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
But I do you know what this timmy year? The
great thing of something is I love a roaring fire.
And also there's something it don't you feel when you
chop wood? You feel you never feel more manly than
chopping wood.

Speaker 11 (23:51):
You know what? You chop wood and it warms you twice.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
I don't want to know.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Actually I don't know what you I don't want I
want to know further questions about that.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
I think I know what you mean. All right, Well listen,
we'll send you a We'll give you a slab of
four X. Thank you very much, Tim, I have a
great weekend.

Speaker 11 (24:06):
Wow, Thank you so much. Christian. You know at hard
work and make and develop it.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
This is you right dropping that ton of wood.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
The Christian O'Connell show podcast.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
One of the big stories this week in Sydney has
been this laser light show that looks amazing, incredible, vivid
and now sadly ninety ninety drones fell from the sky.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
It's not part of the show, by the way.

Speaker 2 (24:32):
Mommy mammy, Why these things flying, flying out the sky
and dropping us and into Darling Harbor. It all happened
Monday nights. Eyewitness described the moment as a catastrophic failure.
How awful because they put so much money into it
and it looks amazing.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
He said.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
The display appeared in all at first, before drones began
dropping one by one, triggering what he called to tell her,
what this eyewitness has got a way of words, a
cascading effect.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
What a eloquent eyeweess.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
You ready get that the normally drongos drones fell into
the water, crashing into the wolf, creating loud impractic of
an adup to twenty meters away. This is incredible story.
So to down the show. We're looking for your stories.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
It came from above, Alex.

Speaker 8 (25:15):
You've got a story, Oh, this is really really weird.
We had pieces of a meteorite like space rocks fall
onto the farm when I was a kid. Seriously, So
these scientists they came from Sighting Springs Observatory. Now all
those space observers will know of that it's a Kuna
barbron in regional New South Wales.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
And these guys we have a lot of space observers listening,
and you know, they're just moving the old telescope aside.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
They're talking to us years saying Springs Observatory.

Speaker 8 (25:46):
And those guys came and they were wearing like white
coats and I remember.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
The scene from Et do you even when they came
in the house, it was like they take it up
and stuff like that.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Poor Et was going gray, I know, but I was
like a kid and like I didn't really know what
was going on. You're Eliot in the story.

Speaker 8 (26:04):
I'm Elliott, that's right, e t. And so they they
came and they took these rocks.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
Their stories.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
From the point of view of those scientists, we're going no,
we're going a fart. Be a lot of inmbreads, especially
the young boy did you see him? Did you see
the young boy at alex Or something calk.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
He started playing the banjo jeans of mixed with geenes
there that should not have been blended together. Don't go
into that barn with them.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
The hills have eyes. The hills have eyes are too
close together, cousin d So anyway, what did the sciences?
Fine and Meteial?

Speaker 1 (26:40):
They like space rocks and so they took them away.
And I never saw these space rocks give a young
kid a bit of a space.

Speaker 8 (26:49):
I must have been down the paddic or something riding
my bike, I don't know, and it but it all
seemed like oddly secretive and like nothing was said about
it after that, Like it was just kind of like
this thing. Oh yeah, there's rocks fell in their farm,
and these guys you tind to take them away. My
parents are really nonchalant about it, which was a bit weird.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Yeah, but my brother in law is a farmer. Right,
farm people are just tough people. They used to just
dealing with chaos, animal filth, animals being born, animals die,
some bit of a space. It is just it's not
even gonna not going to raise the needle at all.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
No, that's right. You know.

Speaker 8 (27:21):
It was probably in the middle of a drought. They
had other things going on. So yeah, space rocks falling.
I don't know where they got to. They must have
taken them off to the observatory, put them under a telescope.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Space observers listen to this date. Those are the people
that we need to speak to.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
Christian Connell Show Podcast.

Speaker 1 (27:37):
Christian, I have a Mercan story. That's a kind of week.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
No, I don't want that Monday Rick keeping to yourself, please,
we're not doing merking Monday right now.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
It came from above. Dun't dun't dun.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
By the way, not related to what we're talking about,
but something I do want to talk about. I have
a theory that coaches always get seemed to get fired
on a Tuesday. Why not the Monday you've had the
loss over the weekend. Why is it always a Tuesday?
If you're if you're a sports coach, listened to this
and you get a message on a Tuesday Wednesday, can
you come in just all the training practice you're getting fired,

(28:13):
Avoid all Tuesday meetings coaches. I'm pretty sure that more
than the main day to find coaches as a Tuesday,
we should go.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
Back and trace the last ten coaches. See what day
they were fired.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Counsel your weekend plans, please do that? All right? It
came from above? Have we got hair? Casey, Casey, welcome
to the show.

Speaker 12 (28:33):
Hello, here you going.

Speaker 1 (28:34):
I'm good Casey. What's your story for us? Mate?

Speaker 12 (28:38):
Well, it was quite a long time ago. I was
at a friend's house down the road. I was eight
years old and they had a pet cockatoo and it's
sitting in the gathering outside and I was standing on
the veranda, leaning against the railing, and all of a
sudden from above, thank you, the diary on my head,

(29:00):
and it was massive. It was running down by boy.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Oh no, it did a diarrhea down my back at
such young age as well.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
I don't like this, Casey.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
It scarred me.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Do you'll remember a lifelong fear of cockatoos?

Speaker 1 (29:16):
We could stay with the young child.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Massive diary for such a small cockatob as well, and it.

Speaker 12 (29:23):
Was everyone was laughing at me, and I was.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
Screaming, Oh my god, that would have been revolting as well. Casey,
thank you very much the story. I have a nice weeknd.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Bye, Sarah.

Speaker 13 (29:35):
Good morning, Sarah, Good morning, how are you guys? Thank
you a beautiful show.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Oh, bless you. Thank you very much for being part
of our show. Now, Sarah, what is your story? It
came from above?

Speaker 13 (29:48):
Well, yep, when my brother was studying our cheology and
did numerous digs in Egypt, and Dad and I thought
one year would go for a holiday and see what
he did. And we're staying in a little hotel in
an oasis called for Afra, and he's sitting on the
toilet before were about to check out, and the hot

(30:09):
water services mounted up on the wall above the toilet
and while Dad's sitting there, fell off the wall landed
on him and the poor guy got his leg burst badly.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
So much.

Speaker 13 (30:25):
I know, I know, my poor dad. Yeah, So we
went out to the desk and my brother he spoke
Arabic and he was trying to say, we're not paying
for that room, and the poor guy in the reception
desk is like, no, I can't do that, but for
the two rooms, i'll give you a half price.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Oh well, it's a pretty good deal thattually, isn't it.
What about you poor old dad with his trousers around
his ankles heads.

Speaker 13 (30:50):
Yeah, and he burned his legs. I had a nasty
band on his thigh. But it healed up all right.
But it's something that we will At the time it
wasn't funny, but now we laugh about it.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
Every family stories, don't they. They get polished over the
years with every turning. Now towing is did your brother
stay in the archaeology game? What happened to your brother
in Jones? Did he find anything when he was digging
around Egypt?

Speaker 13 (31:10):
Yeah, he was an oasis out there. He worked to
studying with Manish University, so they had an oasis they
went to and they dug with every summer holidays in
the Ducklow Oasis. And yeah, he's still employed as an
archaeologist today.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
I love the idea Australian Indiana choke. Let's make that
movie Ossie Indiana Jones.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
I know, uniform Ozzie Jones. This would be called.

Speaker 13 (31:38):
They'll tell him.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Gentlemen, Sarah, A great story well told as well.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Thank you very much. Have a lovely weekends.

Speaker 13 (31:45):
If it all gives you a laugh.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
A great day, he did, Thank you very much. Poor
kid as well.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
With that diarrhea from the Budgey Sam, let's squeeze Sammy
in before the news, Come on, Sam.

Speaker 14 (31:56):
Good Christian in the nies in the Navy. We were
sailing off the off of Garbin, were many hundred kilometers
out at sea. It was a beautiful night. It was
pitch black, so he couldn't even the horizon. And just
for context, I was what they call the officer of
the watch sailing along. I was responsible making sure we

(32:17):
don't crash into.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Anything, which is also probably the most important job on
the ship, isn't it twenty four seven?

Speaker 14 (32:22):
Well that's time, man, I might add. It's the wee
hours of the night. So everyone's in bed, and so
there's basically myself the engineering team, and there was my
lookout up on top of the like there's another area
that the lookout's doing stuff for me as well. So
I was sailing along, I'm watching radar. Everything's looking good,
and I see this really bright light in the horizon.
It's probably and I was you know, it's probably. It

(32:46):
was a static and it didn't move, and so I'm thinking, okay,
is it on radar? Couldn't see anything? Is it moving
left to right? No? And usually if you see aircraft
or something, you know they obviously track left, right, up, down,
all those sorts of things. But this this thing just
stayed stationary really right light.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
So what do you think it was?

Speaker 14 (33:03):
Well, to this day, I have no idea. And so
this is more of a a UFO story of anything,
because it was unidentified and you know one.

Speaker 6 (33:12):
Of those drones from Vivid that got lost, Yeah.

Speaker 14 (33:16):
It could be midd back in the nineties, but maybe
they were demoing it back then. But these things stayed stationary,
and so I was basically what is this thing? And
I started to make my way up to this, up
to what we call the flying bridge that took him
to look out, and we met halfway because he's gone,
what was that? And I'm like, yeah, what was that?
As We're both looking at it, and then suddenly it

(33:37):
just goes horizontally across the horizon and then just shoots
up into the sky. It was the most bizarre thing.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
And well you can't help but think that was a
UFO that you saw.

Speaker 14 (33:47):
Well, it was bizarre. And I'm an next like farmer,
I joined the military because I hated sheep, so.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
My I mean, there are many ways to handle one's
hatred of sheep, but life at seas is only.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
But one of them.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
That's a classic pipeline.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
It is like sheep and they say, who got that story?
It was either this or the farm. I bet there
are all right, Sam, thank you very much for story mate.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
Have a good day, Christian O'Connell show, go on podcast, Christian.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
Where is Passy today? She's at the pokies as part
of this deal that we have with Patsy, one of
the radio's biggest ones. Every it's every third Friday. She
has off to get a Pokeyes, we won't hear anything
from her. She just goes a well, yeah she needs to.
She's like the Dennis Rodman of this show. You know,

(34:45):
you're put up with the greatness. And if she wants
to go on a four or five day bender, okay,
absolutely because of all the other stuff we've had so
uh time Now for today's People's Playlist.

Speaker 7 (34:56):

and just when, eh, somebody pays the station, Charny play.

The People's play Listen Christian calling right now and help
Christian big the songs for Friday show.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Do you know what?

Speaker 2 (35:15):
I think we all just need to take a moment
that just five minutes ago on the show, a man said,
I joined the.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Navy because I hated sheep.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
I don't know what we do on that next week,
but a human being and anim actually said on this
show five minutes ago, I joined the navy because I
hated sheep.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
I wonder if we've got more stories where.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
The reason why somebody is doing something now but because
it's someone trying to get away from something else.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
I've got news for Christian.

Speaker 8 (35:40):
I will joined the media because I had a cheape.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
You're kiddy, that's where you left the farm.

Speaker 6 (35:47):
Well, one of the reasons, what did the sheep do
to you? Why do you hate sheep? Sheep?

Speaker 8 (35:52):
They're so stupid, They are so ridiculously stupid. Cattle are
quite smart. Funnily enough, sheep, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Next week, we have to come back to this.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
I don't know whether it's I joined the navy because
I hate sheep, Well, what do you do because you
hate sheep? I don't realize it's not just happens all right, Christian,
and I turned the radio on ten minutes ago, and
I didn't realize that until you said it a couple
of times that you were looking for stories of what
came from above. I thought it was that you were
doing something called it came from a pub. Now that
right now is save our pub. We could do that

(36:21):
next week as well. All right, No, it's time for

they're going to remember right now?

Speaker 1 (36:43):

a Girl by Katie Perry.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
You're right, what a message? It's process alright?

The Christian O'Connell show podcast.

Speaker 2 (42:12):
Right now, we're looking for your stories. It came from above.
Christian lost my AirPod after it fell.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
Out my ear. Those things, I'm sure they made them
that way? Could they not.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
Fit any tiny, tiny tiny grips on them?

Speaker 7 (42:27):
And they bounce as soon as they lean on the ground,
they spin away from you at speed.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
You reckon In that factory, they're polishing that up so
it's so shin. We can't possibly get any grip with
our fingerprints on it because they want you losing.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
And we go and get another pair.

Speaker 6 (42:39):
Great conspiracy.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
Thank you, goes right to the top, my friend, But
I love them. Spinaca's looking for it. And a few
days later my son was flying his drone around all
random things.

Speaker 1 (42:51):
It fell.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
It had the AirPod on what yes, it dropped from above?
Hang on a minute, let me get the sound effect ready.

Speaker 1 (43:00):
It dropped. What's that you say, madam?

Speaker 2 (43:01):
It dropped from above, Laura, and it was my last AirPod.
It had gone for a little joy ride. That is amazing, Christian.
When I was a child, I were going to still
my grandparents' house. Grandma would take us to the beach.
Whilst on the sand. She was on the top of
the hill. When I was near the water, it was windy.
In the next minute, something hit my head. Turn around

(43:21):
to see my grandmother running down the hill chasing my
little surfboard.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
And I remember, actually this was just before we had kids,
so this would be like twenty odd years ago. I
was out our tiny little garden for first place my
wife and I had together, and we lived quite near
he Throw Airport. He threw a port, one of the
biggest airports in the world, like five runways, and so
there was always planes always above us. Was innocently hanging
out the washing one day and suddenly there was what

(43:47):
I can only describe as I don't know me crudive,
but I'll just say what I saw.

Speaker 1 (43:51):
I wentness report brown rain.

Speaker 6 (43:54):
Are we talking smelly brown rain?

Speaker 1 (43:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (43:56):
That awful acrid smile, and I said, good God, that
is came from above.

Speaker 6 (44:02):
Foot from a cloud.

Speaker 1 (44:03):
I would just literally just came spattering down into my garden.

Speaker 5 (44:06):
Yuck.

Speaker 2 (44:07):
So I was telling my wife that night over dinner,
because that's the kind of wildlife we have. And she
said that I'm calling the airport. Chris are going to complain.
I said, what do you think? It's a plane? I said,
I don't think they just dumped that. I didn't they have
it goes, it stays on the plane. Otherwise they can't
be doing that over cities and just dumping ones and
twos willing lily all over the world. Anyway, she rang

(44:28):
the airport. Someone called us back and apologized. No, they did,
for there had been an incident with a plane where
the onboard toilet system had to be overridden and so
they had to eject it into the air. But normally
this because it's so high, it freezes and sorts of dissolves.
What time it gets down, it shouldn't. We shouldn't have
experienced brown rain. And they apologize, but.

Speaker 7 (44:49):
They're still But even if they dumping it from a
height and it freezes, I don't want shards frozen.

Speaker 6 (44:54):
I don't want.

Speaker 2 (44:55):
I mean, we can another choose how we go out,
but I don't want to be going out from this planet,
this light.

Speaker 1 (45:00):
Being pierced by a shaft of frozen poopoo.

Speaker 6 (45:03):
Heavens.

Speaker 1 (45:04):
No, I don't want anyone going out like that. Don't
mean my worst enemy. It's raining pool Cat. Good morning, Cat,
welcome to the show.

Speaker 15 (45:16):
Hello, Hey going, I'm good Cat.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
So it came from above. What's your story, Cat?

Speaker 5 (45:22):
I know how what I know how much you love
our Australian wildlife.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
Oh no, I don't think it's got over that snake
that appeared up on the the other day.

Speaker 5 (45:33):
I heard that first time. I'm ringing. So in my
previous life I call it probably husband and kids. I
was a National Park ranger up in Northern Territory, so
I leaved. My first posting was halfway between Catherine and Kananara.
So to give you an idea, it was like three
hours one way to go food shopping at a supermarket anyway.
So one day in my first week or two, I'm

(45:55):
driving down in the park with this other bloke who
was a born and bred out Back Territory and black ranger. Right,
and here's little me from Melbourne, and we're going down
these bush tracks and then the thing called an awd spider.
They're absolutely beautiful, but they are massively fat bodies and
they put their webs up across the tracks because they're

(46:19):
a knife open space to catch something.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
Right.

Speaker 5 (46:22):
So we're driving along these tracks and I'm like, oh
my god, so but driving along we miss one, Misslie.
We see this big one. I'm like, oh no, surely
the aerial is going to catch that. Surely the area
is going to catch that. N seems fine. One next
minute my windows open and they have the corner my eye.
This big awe spider came down from above in the

(46:43):
window onto my shoulder. It scared me so much that
I jumped into the lap of.

Speaker 4 (46:49):
My new.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
Those spiders, those were that big ass. They look terrifying.

Speaker 1 (47:00):
At least.

Speaker 5 (47:03):
That is true, and I still manage to stay friends
with my new work.
