The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Good morning, Pats.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
Good morning, everyone.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Good morning, Rio. Good morning. Good morning, intern Pete.

Speaker 7 (01:18):
Good morning, everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Now, Pete, already I can hear just in the voice,
it feels like you're a little bit more grounded than yesterday.
You've got, understandably, pre-Sydney Mountain nerves. You're running with 40,000
other people this weekend. How are you feeling today, Thursday?
Only a couple of days to go.

Speaker 8 (01:35):
Yeah, I think I let a lot of energy out yesterday.
So just a little calmer this morning, which is great.
So I think you guys have arranged an amazing person
for after the show. I'm going to be hypnotized to
basically make sure I'm in the best space for this Sunday,
about 6.30 a.m.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
This hypnotherapist is the one we used before a couple
of years ago. Yes. It was brilliant. Really, really good. Jack,
when he was on the show, wanted some help.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
He was struggling to connect with his father-in-law. He was
quite an alpha male, and they were going to be
playing golf. He was coming over from Venezuela, and Jack
was getting quite in his head about it. So we
found this hypnotherapist to help Jack, and the hypnotherapist really
made a big difference. I remember at one point, Jack
wanted the hypnotherapist to say to Jack, whilst he was under,
you're the funniest man on Breakfast Radio. And in the

(02:25):
recording of it, this guy edits himself and goes, Jack,
you are perfect.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
One of the funniest.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Guys on the radio.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
So I know you want to try and win the
Sydney Marathon.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
I think at some point he's going, Peter, you can
run the marathon.

Speaker 7 (02:47):
I know, I know. I have been thinking about that overnight.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Like, what could I really... Because he's.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Going to ask you, what are your intentions?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 8 (02:54):
And I had a briefing with him yesterday and sort
of gave him a few things that he can play
around with, which is... three hours and 30 minutes must
happen all that sort of stuff and he's like have
you done that before and i said never before and
um he's okay.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
I'm getting the feeling he's writing notes at the other
end exclamation mark he's never done three hours 30 before
exclamation mark just out.

Speaker 8 (03:13):
Of curiosity i don't know if anyone's been hypnotized before
um you have okay because i reckon i'm gonna struggle
because he said oh do you have adhd or you're
a bit hyperactive i said oh well i'm not diagnosed but.

Speaker 7 (03:24):
Um I think there is probably something going on.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
If you heard yesterday's show, hand that in. Yeah, I know, right?

Speaker 7 (03:30):
So I could hear concern going, we might not be
able to get you there, Peter.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I've got friends who've got a neurodivergent who've been hypnotized. Yeah, right.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Okay. I was curious. You know what? Be curious. See
what happens.

Speaker 7 (03:42):
Yeah, I'm going to let it roll.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Roll.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I've got a nice catch. There you go. It sounds
like it's already hypnotized you. This is one of your
trigger words. Roll. Roll, Peter. Roll. Roll along the mouth.
And that's an unusual way of doing it.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Let us get into tombstone text. This is where we
ask you to look at your phone. And whatever the
first text message is that's at the top of your phone,
imagine now that is your tombstone.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Your headstone, what does it say? Patsy, what's it for you?

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Yeah, mine reads a recipe. Duck, two to three breasts, honey, garlic, ginger, asparagus.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
Oh my God, can I just say that sounds delicious.

Speaker 6 (04:21):
And it was delicious.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
Our daughter's doing dinner one night a week and she
generally does Wednesday nights. So I get her to text
me her list of what is her whim for.

Speaker 6 (04:31):
That evening and I'll go to the supermarket and get it.
And I was really impressed. She wanted to try duck
for the first time. And it was absolutely delicious. She
did sort of like.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
A stir fry. You go and kill one down those wetlands.

Speaker 6 (04:41):
She did.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Head down Spottiswood.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
That big old blunderbuss you got. Perhaps it's got an
illegal bazooka, but we're not allowed to talk about it.
Take out a few geese or whatever it's got.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
We are quite partial to the roadkill, but not ducks.
Not ducks. But it was absolutely delicious. So she did
kind of like a little stir fry number. with some
rice on the side.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
That's high level for a 15-year-old. Very impressive.

Speaker 6 (05:03):
I am loving it because it means I don't.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Have to think about what's coming. Also, great plotting on
a Wednesday night, Patsy.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
That middle of the week. Oh, God.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Got to cook again. Can't be bothered. Get the kid
the next wave.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
And then Thursday nights, like tonight, she's at theatre school.
So it's just the love God and I. So we
generally just go for a pub meal or something. Like,
you know, just something easy. So I effectively, you know,
only have to cook. Maybe four or five nights a week.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Honestly, one of the biggest pains in the butt as
an adult is the relentless need to cook dinner.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Always.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Always.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
And hard to come up with different ideas.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
It's always the same thing Tuesday night.

Speaker 9 (05:40):
We have tacos.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
Sunday night we have roast. It's like, yeah.

Speaker 9 (05:43):
That's pretty good life, though.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
I love a roast.

Speaker 9 (05:45):
Tacos every week, roast every week.

Speaker 6 (05:46):
Do you not have a roast every Sunday?

Speaker 10 (05:48):
No.

Speaker 1 (05:48):
I wish we did. No, I wish we did. This
is so much work, the prep.

Speaker 6 (05:52):
No, it's not.

Speaker 11 (05:52):
It is.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
You just whack it in the dish and off you go.
It's so easy. You forget about it.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
No, no.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Roast is, to me, that's overwhelming.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Really?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
I like cooking, but that feels like there's too many
things going on. I shut down when there's too many
things going down. I can handle three things. In the
cooking process, that's my mouth. Roast, there's about five or six,
so I forget about it.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
No, what's your go-to dish? What's your favourite thing to cook?

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Steaks.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
Steaks, yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
It's a simple thing. It's a very, very simple thing.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
You say simple, but it's hard to cook a good steak.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
I don't just think.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
So the steak meal would be caramelised onions, also my
homemade garlic butter as well, and this thing with these
potatoes as well, which is like paprika and butter and that.
And then asparagus, which I hate. But my wife is like,
you have to eat greens. My kids reckon they've never
seen me eat a single green.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
They're just boring. Come on, nature. Inject it with some cheese,
that broccoli. And then we will talk.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
I'm hoping with the march of AI, that AI can
take over vegetables for us. Because nature, to me, has
done a pretty lousy job. They're just so boring. Infuse
it with cheese.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
I love greens.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
If we can stuff a crust with cheese.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Do you remember when stuffed crust was literally like the.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Future had arrived of culinary? Elite.

Speaker 10 (07:17):
It became like this race, I don't know, race to
the top or race to the bottom where it would
get crazier and crazier. I remember Domino's had one where
they would stuff the crust with a sausage. And so
you had pizza and then a sausage around the side.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
What insanity.

Speaker 10 (07:32):
And everyone was just trying to one-up themselves. Then Pizza
Hut's like, well, we're going to put a pizza on
the pizza. It was the arms race of the pizza world.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Tombstone text. Have a look at your phones.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
The text message that is at the top of your inbox,
the most recent one, whatever it says, that's now your tombstone.
So for Len, his tombstone is full moon for me 100%
this Friday night.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
It's a big full moon Friday. You'll start to notice
about 3 o'clock.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
In the afternoon on Friday and then obviously become super
visible later on in the evening.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
It's a sturgeon. For moon, for fellow moon lovers.

Speaker 9 (08:09):
Sturgeon, what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (08:12):
In North America, many, many years ago, this time of
the year was when the rivers and lakes were full
of sturgeons. It's a seasonal thing, and obviously the moon
has a lot of impact on the waters and the lakes,
and so they would be full of sturgeon, and so
they would call it the sturgeon for moon.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
It's always the 28th. That's amazing. Sturgeon and moon knowledge.
Pass that on, guys. Pass that on.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Christian, Lyndon here. The tombstone for me is out cold. Now,
do you mean knocked out cold?

Speaker 9 (08:42):
That's what I thought.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Because a great one on someone's headstone. Lyndon, out cold.
Keep cold. Christian, mine is, Dad, where are you?

Speaker 2 (08:52):
I was running late to pick up my daughter after
work yesterday. That's from Tim. Christian, this is the tombstone text.
I'm still crying. It's from my dad. He's a big
Manchester United fan here. They lost 2-0 to... Hull yesterday.

Speaker 10 (09:05):
Is that the team that the new Aussie guy, Lucas Harrington,
did he go to Hull?

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Yeah, they beat Manchester United yesterday 2-0. Wow. Okay, mine
actually is a text message that I got this morning
from a fellow rival breakfast show presenter.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Actually, not a rival. They're on ABC.

Speaker 9 (09:29):
Sammy J's puppet?

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Bob Murphy. Beautiful Bob Murphy.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
And he said, shall we attend the Oasis doco as
a date?

Speaker 1 (09:37):
It is agreed.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Contracts have been exchanged with both huge Oasis fans. We
will put aside our rivalry and come together for Oasis.
It's out in about two or three weeks. I think
two weeks time. I cannot wait don't look back in
anger cannot wait to see it so it's at the
movies yeah oh no way yeah oh how cool yeah
I cannot wait they've been filming everything from the first

(10:00):
time they sat down together obviously the astonishing sellout success
of the tour around the world as well it is
going to be I cannot wait I'm so excited.

Speaker 10 (10:08):
And because you didn't end up actually i don't i
don't want to talk about it i just thought it'd
be a good experience for you.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
You don't know pete what happened well this mega oasis
fan got too ill to attend oasis when they were
here in australia no i didn't.

Speaker 10 (10:22):
Go to any of that he also missed out on
england tickets Oh, Rio, what are you trying to do today?

Speaker 4 (10:28):
Come on.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
It's called The Bright Side of the Dial.

Speaker 9 (10:31):
I'd say this is so exciting for you because you've
missed out twice.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
I could see what it must have been like to
go to those Oasis shows.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Yeah, you could be there now. It's the closest I'm
going to be. That's good. It's exciting. That's why I'm
excited to go. Anyway, I got a mandate with Bobby Murphy. Wow.
All right. Pete, what's yours?

Speaker 7 (10:48):
Mine is not now.

Speaker 8 (10:49):
I'm at Chopper Reed's grave. That was from my sister
who was covering a story. Apparently, there were some foxes.
that are running wild around Faulkner in Melbourne, and she
was covering a story that apparently they're starting to dig
up graves in the Faulkner cemetery.

Speaker 7 (11:03):
Very dark, very crazy.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
What the foxes are? Apparently.

Speaker 8 (11:06):
So she was out there investigating it yesterday, and she
told me not to... to talk about it on the
radio because she's going to break the story in the
next half an hour.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
But yeah, apparently there's foxes. Well, don't break it. Good
on you, Pete. Don't break your sister's story. I know.

Speaker 7 (11:18):
It's not that big anyway.

Speaker 8 (11:19):
But basically, yeah, apparently there's foxes and they are just
running rife at the moment.

Speaker 7 (11:23):
All the locals are going crazy.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
By the way, your sister Kate did incredible work yesterday
talking about the Dolly Parton death.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
It's incredible, actually.

Speaker 8 (11:30):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
You must be very proud of her.

Speaker 7 (11:31):
Yeah, no, I am proud of her. She did a
good job on the other side.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Amazing that someone in the family has got a real
gift with words.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (11:36):
Oh, yeah, I see what you did there. Yeah, no,
she did a great job. The foxes are digging up great.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
That can't be right.

Speaker 7 (11:44):
Apparently that is true in the Forkney area.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
People are buried, like, quite deep down. Six feet.

Speaker 8 (11:49):
And I think it was the chopper read angle as well.
It's like, oh, this has got a bit of a
celeb element to it.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
They're going to regret that.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
They'll be gangster foxes to take out a hit on
those foxes.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
It's so true.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
The gangland wars of Melbourne about to get grimmer. The
foxes will be buying other foxes' tabacs.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
What has happened to Melbourne? When are the elections?

Speaker 2 (12:08):
We've got foxes, foreign foxes, English probably, taking up our
Aussie graves. Rio, what is your tombstone text?

Speaker 10 (12:16):
Mine is we can't keep living like this because my
partner Will and I have devolved into essentially like messy
teenagers where we've now got a spare room, like a
guest room with a bed. And all our laundry, instead
of now going back into our drawers after it comes
off the line, it just goes straight onto the bed.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Oh, no.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Come on. How old are you? I know, I know.
I've seen the photo of it. It's an embarrassment.

Speaker 9 (12:40):
It's insane.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Two grown men behaving like that.

Speaker 9 (12:42):
You can't see an inch of the bed.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Seriously.

Speaker 9 (12:44):
But the system works.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
It's like you're on a Contiki tour. It is like students.

Speaker 9 (12:49):
No, but actually, you should try it.

Speaker 7 (12:51):
You should try it.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
No, I don't want to. Because the system works. No,
it doesn't.

Speaker 9 (12:53):
Yes, it does.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
You don't have to put it in.

Speaker 10 (12:55):
And then it's like you're in your own little DFO
rummaging around.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Everyone knows what a hang that is.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
You do need a dumping ground, though. Sadly for us
this week, it's our dining table. And everyone's got a pile.
Where's my pile?

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Don't touch my pile. That's literally the same as ours.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
I just pile the clothes for the daughters and my
wife and mine on the table.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
At least then they're done, like they're washed and they're folded.
I know it doesn't look tidy, but they're processed as such.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
It's the processing. You've got to like it. That's not.
That's actually more chaotic, your system. It's not processing.

Speaker 10 (13:30):
No, there is a serious lack of processing.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
You've got no system.

Speaker 9 (13:33):
There's no system.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
It's chaos.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
The dumping ground for me is the chair in the bedroom.
I've never sat in that chair. It's just clothes get
draped on it all around it. My wife hates it.
She keeps trying to take the chair out of the
room and I go and find it and put it
back in there. It serves no purpose other to be
a dumping ground for clothes.

Speaker 1 (13:51):
I love that chair.

Speaker 4 (13:53):
The Christian O'Connell Show.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
Go on.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Podcast.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
It's the Christian O'Connell Show. Extra time on the time
waster right now. We're looking for your dog.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
TV shows.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
The best one wins the ultimate toaster. It is the
Breville Smart Toaster. All thanks to Harvey Norman. Shop the
Breville Smart Toaster. Perfectly toasted results every single time. You
can get it in store or online at Harvey Norman now.
Dog TV shows, the best ones we had yesterday. Mark
had Border Collie Security. Nathan had Puppy the Vampire Slayer.

(14:30):
Rob had Tipping Pointer. What in the average age of
a viewer of Tipping Point is?

Speaker 9 (14:37):
Great question. It's definitely, I would say, plus 65.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
I reckon it's plus 80. The sweet spot, 82.

Speaker 10 (14:45):
The questions on Tipping Point are so easy.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
No, they really are. How many tongues does a human have?
I think I'm a genius. I should go on this.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Paul had Walkies, Texas Ranger. And the winner, Jake, had
Chasing Postman Pat. All right, some brand new ones. I've
got Wolf Creek.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Oh, gold. Ted Lassie. Oh, that's gold plus. What about
old Doogie Schnauzer, MD? Great gold.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Um.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Would I like her to you?

Speaker 4 (15:16):
What?

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Like her. Great pet food. Oh, I love her. Yes, yes.
It's gold. And Greyhound's Anatomy. Still fun. Not long to go, fans,
until it's back in our lives. A couple of weeks.

Speaker 9 (15:29):
Is it always on?

Speaker 1 (15:30):
No, no. Sadly, it's been off for four months.

Speaker 9 (15:33):
Four months?

Speaker 1 (15:33):
That's not long for a TV show. You weren't there, man.
It's 16 weeks of pining, scratching at the TV.

Speaker 9 (15:38):
Usually shows off for like a year or two.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Oh, God. Owen's left. Teddy's left.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
They're coming like days of our lives.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Oh, I love it. I hope it never ends. Oh,
my God.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
The goings on of Slow Memorial is never far from
my heart, guys.

Speaker 9 (15:55):
Well, I'm very excited.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
If you ask me, in fact, we should do this
as a phone-in today. If you could be cast in
any TV show, what would it be?

Speaker 1 (16:02):
It would be Grey's Anatomy.

Speaker 9 (16:04):
It's so stressful.

Speaker 1 (16:05):
I love that. I love that. A surgeon, a maverick surgeon.
He's got issues.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
You have to be a brain surgeon, I reckon.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
No, no, I wouldn't be able to do the brain surgeon, no.

Speaker 9 (16:16):
Which surgery would you be able to do?

Speaker 1 (16:17):
I'm not entirely sure, actually. Oh, not the brain.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
What about, maybe I'd just wander around the walls cheering
people up.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
I could, yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
I'd be a clown surgeon.

Speaker 9 (16:27):
What's that, Robert Williams movie?

Speaker 1 (16:29):
Patch Adams.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Patch Adams.

Speaker 1 (16:30):
Yes, yes. What would it be for you, Patsy, if
you could be cast in any TV show?

Speaker 5 (16:35):
Well, I immediately think of Sex and the City because
of the fashion and the lifestyle and the dinners.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
And the drinks.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
Yeah, yeah, you know, the Manhattan cocktails.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
That would be a good life. What would it be
for you?

Speaker 9 (16:45):
Flintstones. I'd love to go back in.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Wow. Wow.

Speaker 11 (16:48):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
It literally rocks me to my core. What?

Speaker 10 (16:52):
You wouldn't want to live with the dinosaurs in the
Stone Age?

Speaker 4 (16:55):
You're kidding.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
No. Come on.

Speaker 9 (16:57):
That would be so cool.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
I'll tell you what it took me a long time
to realize was that obviously because it was a huge
kids TV show. Them slipping away, Barney and Fred, to
go to the bowling alley was shorthand for the pub.
When they ever showed them the bowling alley, they were
just always at the bar pounding beers.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
There was no bowling going on. It was a con job.
We're on to you. Pete, what would yours be?

Speaker 7 (17:23):
Steve Carell, The Office.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
That's it, just right there.

Speaker 7 (17:25):
Be the boss in The Office.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
We watched a great episode last night at the American office.
It's such a great show. It's the one where Michael
gets just left at a service station and and just.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Goes on a walkabout.

Speaker 4 (17:38):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
And they have to go and find him. He's got
no money to pay for food.

Speaker 7 (17:41):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Oh, my God. It's such a great episode. And I've
never seen the scene where Ricky and him do a
scene together. Oh, at the end of the scene.

Speaker 9 (17:50):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
By the lift. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, it's so good.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
I love that show so much.

Speaker 7 (17:55):
I don't know if it matches me, but I just
think that what he's done.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
Genius. Genius.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
Amazing.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
All the casting characters, and there's so many of them
from Cree, It's a genius work of art, that TV show.

Speaker 1 (18:07):
Anyway, I forgot where we were.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (18:08):
We're setting up dog TV shows now.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
After seven, we'll come back to which TV show would
you love to be cast into?

Speaker 4 (18:15):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (18:19):
This show is sponsored by Chemist Warehouse. They have an
amazing charity for men's mental health. And we can never
do enough on the show for the men's mental health
crisis in Australia. They've got a great charity called Gotcha
for Life. And they're looking for donations. Every donation helps
equip more Australians with practical mental fitness skills so nobody
has to worry alone. You can donate today, and if

(18:40):
you do, thank you, at gotcha4life. grassroots. com. You can also search
TCS Sydney Marathon.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
All right, your dog TV shows. Jess has got, have
you been paying Alsatian?

Speaker 1 (19:02):
Silver Plus.

Speaker 2 (19:03):
They rebranded and became German Shepherd Dogs and then rebranded again.
They're the same dog.

Speaker 9 (19:08):
You're kidding.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
No.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
After the war, people really didn't want to be saying
they had a German Shepherd Dog, so they became Alsatians.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Right.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
Now.

Speaker 9 (19:17):
Germans are back.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Germans are back.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
That's not the headline if you're just tuning in. Donnie
Lee yesterday, the Germans are back. And this government does nothing.
Get those submarines!

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Where were we? I dream of Dachshunds.

Speaker 9 (19:37):
Silver.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
What I'm Frank. Pitbull House.

Speaker 9 (19:39):
Silver Plus.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Out of all the tributes, obviously yesterday, incredible reaction to.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
The past of Johnny Barton.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
And bit by bit, in different time zones, you saw
whoever which global megastar was on tour was dedicating and
doing a song. You know, there was an incredible one
from Sting, and then there was.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
One from Pitbull. No way!

Speaker 2 (19:57):
Mr.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Worldwide!

Speaker 11 (19:59):
Mr.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Worldwide.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Mr. Worldwide. He's our canary down the mineshaft.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Didn't we keep saying throughout the show, has anyone woken
Pitbull up?

Speaker 9 (20:07):
He's going to be devastated.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Will he yell into a microphone?

Speaker 9 (20:11):
I don't see the connection between his songs and.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Hey, she spoke to everyone. Me, you, Pat, Pete, Pitbull. Mr. Worldwide.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Pitbull.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Great Dane of Thrones.

Speaker 9 (20:21):
Silver.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Well done, Sarah. RuPaul's bum drag race.

Speaker 9 (20:24):
Big gold.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
That is so good. Well done, Glenn. Who wants to
be a good boy? Silver plus. Jerry Springer Spaniel. Bronze.
Ted Schmacko. Oh, gold plus. Ted Schmacko is very good.
Well done, Connor. Mark's got better homes than dug up gardens.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Gold.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Beavis and Buttsniff. Also good. That's gold, yeah. Rick and Corgi.
Silver plus. Be bitched.

Speaker 10 (20:54):
Gold.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Well done, Stewie. Puppy Blinders.

Speaker 9 (20:57):
Silver.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
Silence of the Labs. Gold. Boston Beagle. Silver. Farmer Wants
a Kelpie.

Speaker 9 (21:05):
Silver plus.

Speaker 1 (21:05):
And How I Sniffed Your Mother.

Speaker 9 (21:07):
Gold.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Rob in Sydney, very good. These are very good.

Speaker 10 (21:12):
Clever.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
All right, who is winning the ultimate toaster, the Breville
Smart Toaster, thanks to Harvey Norman?

Speaker 9 (21:18):
Connor with Ted Schmacko.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yeah, well done, Connor. You're today's winner. You get the
Breville Smart Toaster.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
We've stumbled into today's big question. If you could be
cast into any TV show, maybe one current one or
one from the 80s or 90s or 2000s, which one
would it be?

Speaker 1 (21:37):
For Patsy... So would you be, you have your own
character patch?

Speaker 7 (21:44):
Oh, which character would I be?

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Oh, no, create your own one. Suddenly there's an Australian
that moves in with the gals.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
Yes, and she's on the radio.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
With her funny ways and traditions.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Yeah, what do you mean funny ways?

Speaker 1 (21:54):
And we go like, oh, my God, those Milanos? No,
they're uglos. You Australians.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
I'll be down at Chinatown getting all the knockoff bags.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
I won't be getting the.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
Real legit stuff. Looking for yum cha.

Speaker 7 (22:06):
Yeah, too right.

Speaker 9 (22:07):
Who do you identify with the most, Samantha?

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Oh.

Speaker 9 (22:10):
Carrie, I'm just listing them.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
Probably Charlotte, to be honest.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
What?

Speaker 7 (22:16):
You reckon you're a Charlotte?

Speaker 6 (22:17):
I reckon I am.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
What do you think? Tell me why that's significant. I've
never seen the show.

Speaker 9 (22:20):
Charlotte is this sort of innocent. She's got class.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
She's very classy.

Speaker 6 (22:24):
She's got class.

Speaker 9 (22:25):
She's very classy, which is exactly like Petrina Jones.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
She's got class. It feels like it's a full stop, mate. Unless, unless,
pick a window, the one that you want to be
put through. The very violent play school. Pick a window,
you're going through.

Speaker 9 (22:38):
You're actually such a Charlotte.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
You are a Charlotte. You're a Charlotte. She's classy. Definitely.
She told you what the answer is.

Speaker 6 (22:44):
You were going to say Samantha, weren't you?

Speaker 9 (22:45):
No, God, no, no, no. I think you're a main character, though.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Maybe camera this on a podcast if people care. Pete,
what's it for you?

Speaker 7 (22:54):
Yeah, it was for The Office, right?

Speaker 8 (22:55):
So I think the American version, because I'm a big
fan of.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
I could.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Easily see you as someone who comes to mend the photocopier.

Speaker 9 (23:02):
Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
A bit of an office manager. Or quirky lad that works... No, actually,
the IT department.

Speaker 7 (23:07):
Yeah, no, there's... Okay, I could do... No, I'm not IT.

Speaker 8 (23:09):
I'd be more of like an office manager, but don't
want to have to be in charge too much.

Speaker 7 (23:14):
No, hang on a minute.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Hang on a minute. Office manager?

Speaker 7 (23:18):
Well, you know, the one that's in charge.

Speaker 8 (23:19):
Like, I'm in charge of the street ice cream fridge
that we have here now at the radio station.

Speaker 7 (23:23):
I've got the key, and no one can get in
without coming to me.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
It's taken you three months to give away all that
ice cream.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
I know.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
We've still got so many Fionettas. What kind of office
management is that?

Speaker 2 (23:31):
It's office mismanagement. But I guess that's the nature of
the show. So, yeah, I get that.

Speaker 9 (23:35):
Okay, fantastic, yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Rio, yours is a real curveball one.

Speaker 10 (23:40):
I would love to go back in time and live
in the Flintstones, hang out with the dinosaurs, live in
the Stone Age.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Will you be with Fred or?

Speaker 10 (23:48):
Yeah, I think I'd be the third in their relationship. Yeah,
we'd sort of form an ancient polycule and we'd all
just sort of.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Mine would be, seriously, would be Grey's Anatomy.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
I love that TV show. Still running 24 seasons. It
comes back in a couple of weeks' time. I reckon
I could easily do a quiz about the goings on
over the years of Grey's Anatomy. I think I introduced
my eldest daughter at a too young age to Grey's
Anatomy at the age of 10.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
Too young. That's too young.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
It comes up a lot that it was too young
to be introduced to Grey's Anatomy. But I would go
Grey's Anatomy. Producer Caitlin, obviously you want yours because you've
got the theme tune on. She didn't bother getting me
one for Grey's Anatomy. There's nothing here for Grey's Anatomy.
Everyone gets theirs.

Speaker 1 (24:39):
Pete, new boy Pete. He's only been on the show
two minutes. He gets his. Love it. Rio gets his.
And this is mine. But Caitlin's got hers. Oh, let
me guess.

Speaker 4 (24:51):
Yes, great.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
You're running the coffee shop with that strange Gunther, wasn't it?

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Yes. Absolutely happy to.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
They'd become my friends.

Speaker 12 (25:00):
I just imagine being a part of that in the
90s would be stunning.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
Great decade.

Speaker 12 (25:06):
It would be incredible. And I would want to be
Rachel just because her hairstyle.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
So you're replacing one of them.

Speaker 12 (25:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 9 (25:14):
Isn't that the whole point?

Speaker 6 (25:15):
We want to be in the show as the person?

Speaker 1 (25:17):
No, I want to have my own character in Grace.
Charming English doctor.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
Maverick.

Speaker 6 (25:21):
No, I want to be Rachel Green.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
I reckon I do good work with a stethoscope just
wandering around. No one's quite clear what does that guy do.
Turns out he's just a radio DJ on Sloane Grey
Memorial FM. Song Stories and Healing. But you're actually knocking
out Rachel. She's now you.

Speaker 6 (25:39):
No, I would become her.

Speaker 12 (25:41):
So I would just love to be that character in
the show. All I've ever wanted was the opening credits
to have been on set the day that they made that.
Around the fountain.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
I don't know why.

Speaker 12 (25:52):
It's a weird thing that I've just been like, just
imagine being on that set that day when they created it.
That is iconic.

Speaker 6 (25:58):
It will go down in history.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
Your answer to what? You could be cast in any
TV show. Past or present is? I'd like to be
in the opening credits. And they go, thanks for coming in, mate.
So you don't want to be in one of the
most beloved sitcoms ever.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
No, no, no. Just want to sort of get my
feet wet in the fountain. Get on that couch.

Speaker 11 (26:17):
Yes!

Speaker 1 (26:17):
That's it.

Speaker 9 (26:18):
I would be so happy.

Speaker 12 (26:20):
I would die a happy person if I got to
be there and a part of that.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
I don't know what it is.

Speaker 2 (26:24):
This question's been really revealing, hasn't it? We should have
asked it in the census next year. We'll be asking it.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
I didn't know how revealing. Ask your friends this at
the weekend. If you could be cast in any TV
show past or present, what would it be? It's fascinating.
I just spoke to one of the Chuckle Sisters, Tina,
who got... She wants to be Ross. No one wants
to be Ross. No, I don't think even he wants
to be Ross. He's a man constantly existential dread, isn't he?

(26:54):
Of his own existence.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Fright of his own shadow. A lot going on with
the old Chuckle Sisters. All right.

Speaker 10 (27:01):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Finally got it. Hour after doing it. All right, so
which TV show our listeners want to be in? I
love this from Michelle. Christian, I always want to be
in Prisoner, the original, with Bea, Lizzie, Doreen. I even
had my mum make me a denim dress like they
had to war. What?

Speaker 1 (27:26):
I don't know why I thought they might lock up
an eight-year-old. That's wrong.

Speaker 6 (27:31):
It was an iconic show.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
It was, yes. It was brilliant.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
Be with that press, putting people's heads in the iron press.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
No, it is.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
I still remember that scene.

Speaker 10 (27:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
We used to get it in the UK, and it
was only ever screened when the pub shut on a
Friday night at midnight. I've never seen it sober. I
would come back from the pubs when I was 18, 19.
And I remember in our share house, we would always
watch on a Friday night the goings on with this
bizarre Australian show, The Prisoner. Christian cast me as Karen

(28:00):
in Will and Grace.

Speaker 11 (28:02):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
She does have a great show. What a great show
that was.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
Huge, wasn't it? That character, Christian, that whole show is
everything to me. Christian, I would love to have been
a part of the Big Bang Theory. I would fit
in right with Penny. And the boys, that's from Emily.
Quite a few of you.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Blue Heelers. I guess it's Australia's Grey's Anatomy. Yes.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
And Will and Grace is the theme tune, if we've forgotten.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Christian, I always want to be Norm in Cheers.

Speaker 9 (28:42):
Sometimes you want.

Speaker 6 (28:44):
To go where everybody knows your name.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Another guy wants to be in Cheers.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
For guys, Cheers isn't my one suggestion. I think it's
more the idea that you could just hang around a
bar all day. That was like the only setting for it. Christian,
I'm wearing this sitcom Cheers, just spending all day sitting
around a bar, talking to my mates. That's from Mark. Christian,
for me, Schitt's Creek. Christian, charred me would have been Scooby-Doo,

(29:18):
me with the gang. In Scooby-Doo World, they always went
up against the thickest criminals in the world that could
easily be rumbled by a dog.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
By a dog.

Speaker 9 (29:35):
And not a smart dog.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Not a smart dog. As a kid, I used to
love Scooby-Doo. It's just the best.

Speaker 2 (29:44):
Also, do we think that it was about every third episode,
it was always a... bitter caretaker that did it always
the caretaker it was every third episode that bitter janitor
came back around always had some bad mask on as
well oh for having me you damn pesky meddling kids
that's on Brodie these are great thank you very much

(30:06):
I want to be on Doctor Who.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Either as the doctor or the companion. That's from Matthew.
Natalie Christian, I dream of living in Stars Hollow. From?

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Anyone?

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Buna?

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Gilmore Girls.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Yes!

Speaker 2 (30:25):
It is my TV show. I even watch it in
the background as I do housework. I want to be
a resident of his friends with L'Oreal, but I want
to date Luke. Again, I'm saying words I don't know
the relevance of.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
I've never seen it. Is he the hunk in it?

Speaker 6 (30:40):
Isn't he, Caitlin, is he the guy that was on Supernatural?

Speaker 12 (30:44):
Sorry, I was so focused on Lorelei because I'm obsessed
with her.

Speaker 6 (30:47):
I missed who you said was the male.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Luke was the male.

Speaker 6 (30:49):
Luke was her.

Speaker 7 (30:50):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Luke and Lorelei.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Oh, my.

Speaker 6 (30:53):
Eat your heart out.

Speaker 4 (30:54):
He owned the coffee shop.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Don't even get me going.

Speaker 12 (30:58):
Do not because that moment when they finally kissed, I
will never forget. No.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
GG, girls for life. It's a new tattoo I'm getting.

Speaker 9 (31:06):
Play the song, play the song.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
No.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Christian, you've just ruined my commute because my husband has
just told me that he wants to be cast in Neighbours.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
He reckons he could have had a crack at Charlene
and split her and Jason off.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
Oh, wow.

Speaker 12 (31:20):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
The Christian O'Connell Show.

Speaker 11 (31:27):
Go on.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
Podcast.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Christian, my name is Desiree. I always want to be
in the goodies, play the part of Timbrook Taylor. What
about West Wing, Christian? I know you love that show.
I think I might have to choose the West Wing.
I'm about to start re-watching the West Wing from episode one.
I love that show. Christian, can you get Rio to
take back what he said about Scooby-Doo? He was very intelligent.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
How many crimes has Rio sold? Good question, actually. You
never answered that question.

Speaker 9 (31:57):
That's true. I've never solved any crimes, so I guess Scooby-Doo.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
He's 100 from 100.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Probably one of the greatest detectives ever.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Facts.

Speaker 9 (32:05):
I formally apologize.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
The great Scooby-Doo.

Speaker 9 (32:08):
Detective Doo.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
All right, so good luck to Intern Pate on this
show now. He's running the Sydney Mouthing this weekend. How
are you feeling today, Pete? You seem a bit more settled.

Speaker 7 (32:20):
Yeah, a little calmer today.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Very excited.

Speaker 8 (32:22):
I was walking around the city yesterday and you can
just feel the vibes already.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
All those international visitors that you seem to be obsessed with.
Another plane coming in.

Speaker 7 (32:30):
Yeah, there is. There is another plane.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Probably from Congo, that one.

Speaker 8 (32:33):
Another Qantas flight about to arrive. Going through a beautiful
rainbow over Sydney this morning because you just hear in
the city, you know when you just hear things differently?
Like the build-up is massive. I'm over the Harbour Bridge
this morning. It's like three days to go. The signage
is there. They're starting to change all the street signs
from what normally might be a giveaway sign to road
closure this Sunday, don't park here, all that sort of stuff.

Speaker 7 (32:54):
Really exciting stuff, as I said.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
And you're capturing this for content. I love a.

Speaker 7 (32:57):
Lane closure sign.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, sorry.

Speaker 7 (33:02):
I just realised how boring that just sounded.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
No, no, no, no.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Chill.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
No, no, no. I want you live at those signs tomorrow. Peace.
Live on the Harbour Bridge. By that lane closure sign.
You know that one?

Speaker 2 (33:12):
You're right.

Speaker 8 (33:13):
I'm doing a big shakeout run on Saturday morning with ASICS.
They're going to take me out and we're going to
just make sure our bodies are ready to go.

Speaker 7 (33:21):
And then there's a bazillion.

Speaker 8 (33:22):
Run clubs that are just inviting anyone that's visiting the town.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
I know what you mean. There's something in the atmosphere
that changes. It's always the same every year in the
last few days. before the London Marathon. You could feel it.
It was really, the city was getting ready for something
really big. And obviously, big parts of the city are
shut down. So, you know, it's this mega event that
shuts the city down as well. And for you guys,
you're starting at half six.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
In the morning.

Speaker 7 (33:44):
Yeah, it's crazy.

Speaker 8 (33:45):
It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
I don't know any other marathon in the world that
gets them going, get them a little bit of.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Sleep on a Sunday. Half six? It's so Australian, that is. Nah,
she'll be all right.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
Get out here at midnight if it was me.

Speaker 10 (33:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (33:59):
The earlier we start, the earlier we get to have
a beer afterwards.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
It's going to be a great day. That's what the
thinking is. Yeah, for sure. It's a thinking country.

Speaker 7 (34:06):
About 11 degrees.

Speaker 8 (34:07):
I think it's perfect running conditions, they're saying, for Sunday.
It's cold enough. It's not too hot. The winds are
going to be fine. It's going to be a cracky morning.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
All right.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Good luck, Pete.

Speaker 2 (34:16):
Now, what we're going to do is to support Pete along.
It's the second time he's done it, is we're giving
away every K. He's going to dedicate it to one
of you. Now, you mentioned the other day that somebody's
been inspirational for you is Sally Pearson.

Speaker 7 (34:27):
Oh, Sally Pearson.

Speaker 8 (34:28):
Just there's a video on YouTube that I watch over
and over and over again. And it's when she was
competing at the Olympics and the hurdles and she and
she she got to the finish line, but she didn't
know that she was going to win. and then she did,
and she fell to the ground.

Speaker 7 (34:42):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (34:43):
I just see videos like that sometimes, and I think
she is just such an inspiration to this country. Everything
she does, not just her athleticism, but just who she
is as a person. I think she's a beautiful person.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
She has left a message for you. Oh, really? Yeah,
have a listen to this, mate.

Speaker 9 (34:58):
Intern Pete, good luck for your marathon.

Speaker 6 (35:00):
Can you please name the first K after me?

Speaker 4 (35:03):
Because I think if you do that, it will set
you up for success and you might just win that marathon.

Speaker 9 (35:08):
It doesn't matter where you come from. So good luck,
have fun and just keep running.

Speaker 7 (35:13):
Oh my God, Sally Pearson.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
That is amazing.

Speaker 7 (35:16):
That is truly, Sally, that.

Speaker 8 (35:18):
Is, I'm sorry, she's not here, but obviously, but I'm
just saying, Sally, if you listen to this, this is,
that was just amazing.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Listen, it's been a big couple of minutes for you.
The thought of all these lane closure signs, probably more today.
It's going to really blow your mind. One more concern.
I could just see you on the race. You're actually
probably going to be a bit slower because you're probably
to be taking photos of some of the lane closers.

Speaker 7 (35:37):
That means so much from Sally, but also she wanted
number one.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Was that right?

Speaker 2 (35:41):
It's the most contested at the moment. The Kiraly Epping
Scout Group have number one. What about She Takes Zero?
Like your first steps.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Okay. Zero to one, Kay.

Speaker 7 (35:52):
So prior to the start line, is that what you mean?

Speaker 1 (35:55):
So almost like a... Approach. Yeah, approach.

Speaker 9 (35:57):
Sally's got the approach.

Speaker 7 (36:00):
Okay, Sally gets the going through.

Speaker 9 (36:03):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
All right, so we're giving away a Kay, and we've
got so many great stories about why you want specific
Ks along the way. 41 was yes yesterday for his mother, Fatma.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
40 for Pauline.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Maria wants 39 for her son, Scott, who's meant to
run but is injured. He's out the race this weekend.
Irish Maggie called the show the other day. She's done
10 marathons in her 70s.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
She's done 10 marathons.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
She wants K38 because that's where she said it gets
very tough. She wants to be with you in spirit, Pete.
Robin wants 28. Dedicate a kilometer to her, Hudson. Sorry, grandson.
Tamara wants 13 to dedicate to splat the cap. And
then there's this lovely one from Donna.

Speaker 11 (36:48):
Hi, Christian. It's Donna. I'd love to sponsor Kilometre 36
for my niece. Her name is Kate and she's battling
cancer at the moment and she turns 36 on Saturday.
If we could do that, that would be fantastic.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Well, we send all our love and all the best
to Kate and Donna.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Thank you very much for that. Definitely. Let us know
then which K we don't sponsor for Pete this weekend.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Do you want a K of the 42 that intern
Pete is running this weekend in Sydney? He's going to
be recording all the dedications, all 42 of them as
he's running the route as well.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Yep. Or more that are coming through. Christian, I would
love to sponsor.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Pete either K13 or 14 for our two football teams.
Hurstbridge Junior Football Netball Club. They are competing this weekend
in the grand final Sunday.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
Good luck.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
Hurstbridge Junior Football Netball Club. Hopefully Inter and Pete can
be a good omen for the boys. That's from Jodie.
There are so many mums and dads supporting their kids
this week in various grand finals.

Speaker 4 (37:53):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
It's huge.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
In fact, maybe on tomorrow's show, we should ask for
people who are supporting their kids in their grand finals
in various soccer, netball this weekend.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
There are so many.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Mel, who's head of sales here at the radio station,
Her husband is the coach.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
Of their son's team. Big grand final game this weekend. Awesome.
I know.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
And so, mums and dads, we want to hear about
your daughters, your sons' teams tomorrow on the show so
we can give you some grand final cheers. Christian, did
you know that SBS is televising the Sydney Marathon? Will
we be able to look out for intern Pete? Yeah,
here'd be the guy marvelling at all the road closure signs.

Speaker 7 (38:35):
Do you know what?

Speaker 8 (38:36):
I mean, if they're streaming it, I suppose they're really
only focusing on the elite athletes, I guess.

Speaker 7 (38:40):
So it just means we've got to run a bit faster,
I suppose. See if we can get on the TV.

Speaker 9 (38:44):
Pete, actually, I've got a great idea.

Speaker 10 (38:46):
Why don't, to guarantee some screen time.

Speaker 9 (38:49):
You could write it backwards.

Speaker 10 (38:50):
Or, because everyone's going to be jogging, obviously, why don't
at the start you just bolt?

Speaker 9 (38:54):
Oh, that's a great idea.

Speaker 10 (38:56):
500 metres of health as hard as you can.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
I'm going to do that. That's a great idea. Get
your fastest lap the first round. Hang on, who is
this man? Apparently he's an intern.

Speaker 7 (39:09):
A very old one, too.

Speaker 8 (39:11):
Funny story, when you say running in reverse, I was
actually in a movie called Reverse Runner, actually a local
production from Colac in Victoria back in the day. Yes,
there's a movie called Reverse Runner. Yep, yep, back in
the day. I played the publican at the TAB, so.

Speaker 9 (39:24):
Good casting.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Thank you, thank you. What does it mean, you running
it backwards? Like, you're running into the race.

Speaker 7 (39:31):
Oh, sorry, yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
You start at the opera house.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
Oh, I thought you meant to go wait someone's misread
the map it's intern pete classic all right uh all
right so if you want a k of the 42
uh peter's running this weekend give us a call 13
55 22 debbie good morning debbie welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Good morning hello.

Speaker 1 (39:53):
Good morning debbie all right which k do you want
to sponsor I.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
Was hoping for K number five because I'm going to
be on course this weekend volunteering at the drink station
number five.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
Oh, that's fantastic.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
So I want a big shout out and big wave
to Pete as he goes through drink station number five.

Speaker 7 (40:09):
Oh, that's great, Debbie. What do you look like? Because
there's a lot of volunteers on there.

Speaker 3 (40:13):
Yeah, well, you know, brown hair, brown eyes, pretty normal.

Speaker 7 (40:18):
Okay, I'll look out for a normal person.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
Debbie. I can't wait.

Speaker 9 (40:22):
Any weirdos, that's not Debbie.

Speaker 7 (40:26):
I love that you're volunteering.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
Well done.

Speaker 7 (40:27):
I'm definitely going to give you a big high five.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Yeah, what a great thing to do, Debbie. Have you
done anything like that before?

Speaker 3 (40:32):
No, normally I'm running, but this time I'm volunteering, so
I'll see it from the other side.

Speaker 9 (40:36):
Brilliant.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
Enjoy Sunday as well. What a great thing to do.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
And look out for our man, Intern Pete.

Speaker 9 (40:41):
Literally look out.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
Yeah, yeah. Because he won't be the CEO.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
He'll be squinting at various brown-haired people.

Speaker 1 (40:48):
Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie. It's going to
slow him down. Your slowest K is going to be K5. Yeah, okay, great. Debbie, Debbie,
please look out for him.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Look after our man. Debbie, thank you very much for
calling the show, mate. Have a good day Sunday.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
Bye. Peter is on the line. Oh, sorry. Yeah, hi,
can you hear me? I can hear you, Peter. Welcome
to the show. Yes, thank you. Look, I rang up yesterday.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
I wanted to do the middle one because as I'm Pete,
I'd rather do it as a repeat, but you only
gave it away.

Speaker 1 (41:27):
So why don't we do number 23 and we have
a three-peat? This is a great idea.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
I feel like intern Pete and this Pete could be
cousins or related.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
The energy is both there. Yes, definitely. We can have
the three-peat. Three-peat. Yep. Three-peat.

Speaker 9 (41:47):
Have a good run.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Thanks, mate.

Speaker 9 (41:49):
Have a good run. What a legend.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
How about those road closures? Yeah, I know. I can't
stop thinking about it, mate. I know.

Speaker 2 (41:57):
It's image of the day, really, isn't it? It's in
our hearts. You know, when you think about a marathon,
you think, how many road closures does that actually have
up there?

Speaker 1 (42:09):
Just to reassure listeners, we're having him hypnotized today.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
Yesterday, as the world reacted to the great Dolly Parton
and her passing, there were just so many beautiful tributes.
And outside the front of Buckingham Palace, what an extraordinary life.
She goes from a real dirt poor background, and then
the day that she passes away, outside Buckingham Palace, the band,
the Coldstream Guards, in their full Beefeater outfits, do one

(42:38):
of your songs. Their version, a military band of 9
to 5. Doesn't it sound great?

Speaker 10 (42:46):
This is a banger version.

Speaker 11 (42:50):
Who needs pitbull?

Speaker 10 (42:52):
You've got a marching band.

Speaker 1 (43:12):
Last show of the year for Christmas.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Can we have a marching band playing instrumental versions of
just songs? Christmas songs and just great Aussie songs. Last
show of the year. There must be so many great
marching bands of Australia. Maybe we could do an audition.
Marching band idol.

Speaker 1 (43:33):
Golden buzzer.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
All right, signs you're an adult now. You appreciate a
good marching band.

Speaker 9 (43:40):
That's so true.

Speaker 1 (43:41):
The brass on this. All right, signed, you're an adult.
What is it for you, Patsy?

Speaker 6 (43:48):
Yeah, I lay foil.

Speaker 5 (43:50):
When I use the stovetop, I lay foil over it
so to keep it clean.

Speaker 6 (43:55):
And it just makes, like, clean up so much easier
after you've had dinner.

Speaker 1 (43:59):
What a great idea.

Speaker 6 (44:00):
Yeah, it's a bit kind of nonner, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (44:02):
It doesn't matter.

Speaker 5 (44:03):
I do find it really helpful because I just find
that such a pain to have to do a greasy stovetop.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
Yes, yeah, it is. How do you do that?

Speaker 9 (44:11):
How do you go around all the burners, though? You don't.

Speaker 5 (44:13):
You kind of just have to do it, you know,
because the burner's around, so you just have to get
as close as you can, so you kind of crisscross.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
Right, okay.

Speaker 6 (44:21):
You know, like a noughts and crosses sort of game.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
Quite an arrangement, isn't it?

Speaker 6 (44:25):
It is a bit, yes.

Speaker 10 (44:26):
By the time you do that, is it not just
easier to scrub the stovetop?

Speaker 6 (44:29):
No, I kind of hate it.

Speaker 9 (44:31):
Yeah, it's the worst job.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
I don't like it. No, the worst one is the trays.

Speaker 9 (44:36):
Oh, the oven trays?

Speaker 1 (44:37):
Yeah. Yes, that is the worst job. They do not
want to be cleaned. No. Oh, my God.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
Once you put something there for an hour, hour and
a half, they just, it's, so you can do that
thing of like soaking. That's what I did last night,
soaking overnight. When I looked in the small, like 80
hours later, nothing's moved.

Speaker 9 (44:52):
And it's festy when you come the next day.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Oh, God, you're like, oh, no. All the fat has
come to the surface. Oh, no.

Speaker 6 (44:59):
I was going to say, don't you just chuck it
in the dishwasher?

Speaker 2 (45:02):
No, because I'm worried it takes some sort of protective
layer off them, and I'm left with a kind of,
it loses some sort of coating.

Speaker 6 (45:10):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 10 (45:11):
We did get a great tip from a listener last
year who says, put a dishwashing tablet in your dirty
oven trays. Just put it in with some boiling water
for an hour, and it actually does work a miracle.

Speaker 1 (45:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (45:22):
I'll tell you what I do use that technique for,
to clean my, this is so sad. I like, I
can't believe I'm actually saying this out loud. I like
a really clean, sparkly-looking sink.

Speaker 4 (45:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
So what I do is I fill up with boiling water.
I fill the kettle like three times. Fill up that
sink with boiling hot water. Put a dishwasher tablet in
the sink. Let it in there for about two or
three hours.

Speaker 1 (45:47):
Drain it. It's obviously cold. It is spotless, sparkling, like
it was a brand-new sink.

Speaker 6 (45:53):
Wow, what a.

Speaker 9 (45:55):
Great use of time.

Speaker 6 (45:56):
Well, you could just use Jif in 30 seconds.

Speaker 4 (45:58):
No, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
I like it marinating away.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
All those coffee stains at the bottom, they build up
over time. I cannot believe I've got so much to
say about the passion I have for.

Speaker 1 (46:09):
A clean sink.

Speaker 9 (46:10):
Although, Patti, since you're an adult, I love the smell
of Jif. Yes, isn't it great?

Speaker 1 (46:15):
Jif and gumption. Yeah, I'd be happy with a body
lotion of Jif.

Speaker 9 (46:18):
Chemist's Warehouse.

Speaker 6 (46:21):
I think they do sell it.

Speaker 1 (46:23):
A nice body butter. What is that? It's Jif. It's
got that nice creamy granular feel as well. Can I
use it as an exfoliant?

Speaker 4 (46:33):
Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
Signs you're an adult. What's it for you?

Speaker 2 (46:38):
Christian, I enjoy buying storage containers and baskets to organize things.

Speaker 6 (46:45):
I love a storage solution.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
Storage solution, that's what we want.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
It's solutions, guys. Signs I'm an adult.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
The joy and happiness when you manage to finish mowing
the lawns before it starts to rain.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
For me, it's not even that, Santo. It's actually just
looking back at your work.

Speaker 2 (47:01):
Seeing the satisfaction of the stripes perfectly aligned, I'm now
heavily into Insta Reels of mowing.

Speaker 1 (47:10):
I'm not even joking.

Speaker 9 (47:11):
You're in motor.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
Oh, God, it's just good. Deeply pleasing. Ride-ons, push-alongs, whatever
it is, mowing.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
There should be just a 24-hour TV channel of just
mowers from around the world just mowing.

Speaker 10 (47:22):
You should be able to go off and just do
a higher, a ride on just for like 30 minutes,
an hour.

Speaker 9 (47:29):
I've never had that privilege.

Speaker 1 (47:30):
Somebody's got acreage. Yes.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
Just let me have a go. Crank her up, fire
it up.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
What are we doing? Close cut or a quarter cut?
Imagine that's what they say.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
Christian, there are so many brass and concert bands around
Australia and regionally as well. The reason is I was
just playing this. This was outside Buckingham Palace yesterday. their tribute,
the Coldstream Gods, their tribute to Dolly Parton.

Speaker 1 (47:54):
How good does this sound?

Speaker 2 (47:56):
I don't know what it is. The sound of the
brass instruments just moves you.

Speaker 4 (48:03):
It's so warm.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
It's a Christmas sound to me. That's what it is.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
Last show this year in December, I've decided we're going
to have a marching band playing hits.

Speaker 10 (48:12):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
Let's start with this one. Christian, you've got to get
your act together now. They book up.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
Now for Christmas.

Speaker 9 (48:23):
Candles by Candlelight.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
Yes, yes. Most are finally highlighting Christmas gigs over the
next week or two.

Speaker 1 (48:30):
Shout out to my band.

Speaker 2 (48:31):
City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band.

Speaker 1 (48:35):
I will see them.

Speaker 9 (48:35):
I'm seeing them December 10th. Oh, maybe December 12th.

Speaker 1 (48:40):
What are the odds?

Speaker 9 (48:41):
Meredith, yes.

Speaker 10 (48:42):
They play Meredith December 12th in the morning. It's the
last day of the festival.

Speaker 1 (48:48):
You're kidding. Well, you can audition them, mate. Please, for
the show. Get some cards.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
Do some deals, Rio. Also, you know what I was
thinking yesterday? What a great time to be a really
good Dolly Parton tribute act.

Speaker 4 (49:02):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 1 (49:03):
There must be some who had Gates book this weekend.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
You're just going to light up wherever you're playing this
weekend over the next couple of months, wherever you are
in Australia. If someone is a Dolly Parton tribute act
and they're playing, can you imagine this weekend?

Speaker 1 (49:16):
Oh, it'd be incredible.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
Christian signs you now don't want to make toasted sandwiches.
And while they're cooking, you put all the ingredients away.

Speaker 9 (49:25):
Yes, that is a great one.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
I love doing that because then there's nothing worse. You
feel like you can't totally relax and enjoy your toasted
sandwich because of all the cleanup stuff.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
Totally.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
The grease, the cheese, all going to be put away
in the food bags. Clean that spatula, guys.

Speaker 1 (49:41):
That's a great one, Warren.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
I had one of the greatest toasted sandwiches I've had
in the last couple of years yesterday.

Speaker 1 (49:48):
And you've had a lot. Have you ever seen Hugo's Deli?

Speaker 9 (49:52):
I know Hugo's Deli very well. Which one did you
go for?

Speaker 1 (49:56):
I went for the, it was the cheese, pesto and ham.

Speaker 4 (49:59):
Yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 9 (50:01):
The team and I go to Hugo's most Fridays.

Speaker 1 (50:03):
It is so good. Beautiful. Humbling experience.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
Seriously, I actually sat on those tables out the front, right?
And actually had a very deep think. Got my notepad out.
I had some deep thoughts. It was after that.

Speaker 1 (50:18):
It was a moving experience.

Speaker 2 (50:20):
I went in there and went, which one of you
made this? There's only like two of them working there.
And I went, this was a spiritual experience. They looked
at me like I was on something.

Speaker 1 (50:30):
They were like, okay, mate, have a good day. And
they were looking at each other like, weirdo.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
I thought it'd be nicest to pay back because it's incredible.

Speaker 1 (50:39):
Yeah, they are.

Speaker 9 (50:40):
But you do get the vibe a little bit that
it's like, you're lucky to be here.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
Oh, no, no, definitely.

Speaker 9 (50:43):
You're lucky to be eating our toasties.

Speaker 2 (50:45):
Yeah, it was like speaking to like a French restaurant.
I remember I was telling you when I was in
Paris the first time and I said to a waiter,
this is an incredible meal.

Speaker 1 (50:53):
And he went, yeah, okay. Yeah, it's good. Okay. Like
we don't need, yeah, we know. We don't need your validation, Angleterre.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
Christian Saint-Germain getting Christmas Day excited about new household appliances.

Speaker 1 (51:12):
Harriet then goes into block caps.

Speaker 7 (51:14):
The best!

Speaker 1 (51:16):
Christian Saint-Germain getting excited when.

Speaker 2 (51:17):
The Audi catalogue gets delivered to check out the special buys.
Like I do with a scuba tank and hedge trimmers.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
All in one, you say? Christian, tip.

Speaker 2 (51:30):
For stovetops around the burners. I work in real estate
and have seen some of the best and worst. Pie
cases with the middle cut out to fit around burners.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Pete, this morning at 9.45, you are being hypnotized to
help you get in the right mental state for Sunday's marathon.

Speaker 7 (01:00:50):
Very excited about this. We're going to film it, and
I'll have, I guess, all revealed tomorrow on what goes down.

Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
And have you ever been hypnotized before?

Speaker 7 (01:00:57):
No, I think they tried many, many years ago. It
just couldn't get me to calm, like, the calmness that
it needed.

Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
I think I was a little bit hyper. Let's, all
of us, spare a thought at 9.45 about hypnotherapists. Or Joel.
It might quit him. All right. We'll find out tomorrow
how he goes. Pete, good luck. Thanks, guys.
