Speaker 3 (01:38):
Who are Christian O'Connell Show Podcast?

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Good morning Rio, Good morning, Good morning Pats Money, Good
morning Alex. Happy. State of Origin? Yeah, big day, fever Pitch.
We've got an update about state of Origin. All I've
been told the last couple of months is just you wait, Christian,
that Wednesday, the atmosphere is going to be thick in Sydney.
We're here in Sydney this week to fill this fever pitch.

(02:02):
And the first thing I hear from the producers morning
is are the person going to be arm wrestling against
the Queensland has bottled out? Where is the fever bitch?
At the moment, there is one Queensland coming in to
wrestle nobody. So he then wins.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
By default, which is actually a pretty accurate representation of
state of origin over the past twenty years, it's.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Just getting so it's quite a kind of accurate prediction.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Yes, we've just been smashed.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Like why it's one team wrestling with themselves ultimate. So
if you listen to this you're in Sydney and you
want to go to the State of orangin tonight opening game,
there is a spot you just got to arm wrestle
a dude from Queensland and particip Caitlin and perhaps you
know what she's like, quite blunt lady. She goes this morning,

(02:46):
she whispers to me even though it's just me, just me,
Rio and her and intern peak. He was a small man.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Oh you know that.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah, Look, it's a lot to expect someone to rock up.
And also, you know nine o'clock half nine, when we're
doing on the show today, that's a couple of hours
into our day. All right, that's the start of somebody
else's day who's probably got to ring a boss and
going I'm gonna have to come in a bit late.
If you've got physiopoint is it a doctor's thing? Yeah?
Are you doing something at the school? No? Arm wrestling?

(03:16):
Another man on the radio, do you arm wrestler?

Speaker 3 (03:20):
No?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
For State of unger tickets. It's just a lot for
any sane person to do it. So either if you
don't hear it happening a half nine, you'll know why
we couldn't find another Stooche to do it this morning.
But you know what, there might be someone listening right
now that really is up for this. Give us a call.
The spot is there thirteen fifty five twenty two. All right,

(03:42):
on a Wednesday, then we always kick off the show
with three word Wednesday. Tell us the story of how
your week is going so far? Rio, what's it for you?

Speaker 4 (03:50):
Yelled at Hoon. I took my very first step into
becoming a grumpy old man.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Yesterday you really arrived. You know. We do a weekly
thing on the show called Signs Your an Adult bang Bingo, and.

Speaker 4 (04:02):
It felt good. Let me tell you that I was
going for a lovely afternoon walk and there are these
three maybe fourteen fifteen year old skateboarders tearing up and
down the footpath, which is fine, fair enough, But then
they started doing their little skateboarding tree.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Pecor on the board, yes, grinding or whatever they do,
grinding all these no it's noisy, it's noisy.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
It's dangerous and They were doing it on the side
of a highway, doing the grinds on the gutter, and
they were weaving in and out of traffic, and I
said the words came out of my mouth before I
could even realize it was happening.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
I said, oh, get off the road, your bloody goose.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
That is very UNNUW. I know, it just it just
came calling someone a goose. That language stood out. Yeah,
I know.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
I don't know where it came from. It was before
I even had a chance to process what I'd done
or what I thought. And I was like, oh no, I'm.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Like, it's not just a sign you're a grown up.
It's just and a lot of being a grown up
is dealing with your day to day crankiness. There's just
a low grade of crankiness about why the world isn't
the way it should be.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
It's not about the skateboarders, to be honest, it's about me.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Back at you.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
But you're projecting start You need to do some simulation.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
This is some rogan man. What did they do? Did
they stop the behavior.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
Just carry they didn't get the crap? They just kept
going on, looked back at me with some contempt.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
So they're just going to think, what's an adult doing
strolling around in the middle of the afternoon. I think
they're more judging. You like, go and take a long,
hard look at yourself, not us. We're just teenagers. Why
are you so going for a nice stroll and on
the side of a highway? I just like eating lead
and the fumes in the middle of the afternoon, just
before school time. It's got the Pacific highways and busy roads.

(05:57):
Well everybody, and the crow's nest is lovely.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast, we have.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
A arm wrestler to represent New South walesat a man
who is leaving his home now and it's about a
two hour drive. He's from the Highlands. Oh my lord,
two hour drive. As Rio said, I hope he wins.
Oh he's going to destroy the studio. Fever pitch fever,

(06:28):
pitch guys, all right, Three word Wednesday, Patsy's Patsy wash.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Yours lost garage clicker.

Speaker 7 (06:36):
I have lost the buzzer to open our garage door,
which is really really annoying at four am.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
So God, that's a pain when he just ram it out.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
Yeah, you've got to I don't know where it is.
It's in one of my handbags or something. You don't
think we haven't had that dispute with my husband.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
I don't because I always say you need a landing spot.
I have a landing trade. Keys just going there. Then
there's no exactly what it works at peace rio Yep, yep,
you're flaming goose.

Speaker 7 (07:05):
For twenty seven years, this has been our main argument.
Chris is like, my wallet and keys go here. Why
can't you have a little landing strip of where all
your stuff goes?

Speaker 6 (07:17):
Anyway?

Speaker 1 (07:18):
So so is it like same with me? And said
in my wife it's constantly like ocause I haven't seen
my keys went this is? This is every day of
our life.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
I lose something every day.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
It's got the app and air tag And then it
sounds like horrible noise.

Speaker 6 (07:29):
You can't be at peace through the whole house.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Yeah, to the whole house.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
Glasses or a bag or a shoes every day.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Aren't you tired of living like this? Do you need
this drama? It is drama.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
It's in your head's just to mumble.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
Every pain though. But the clicker for the garage.

Speaker 6 (07:46):
The clicker for the garage so you can actually open
it manually. Right, there's a lever.

Speaker 7 (07:51):
So picture this at four am. There's a lever right
up the top. I'm quite short, so I had to
get the ladder out this morning, which was clunky and noisy,
and I thought, I'm going.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
To wake up. Ladders are I know, to be treated
with respect.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
Climbing up that. Then you've got to do the lever.
Then you get in the car. You have to revert
us and then put it in park and then close.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
It and do this whole procedure backwards. No patch, I
forgot no way to start your day.

Speaker 6 (08:17):
No, it's not.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
You're also then leaving a problem for Chris.

Speaker 6 (08:21):
Yeah, well I know. And the garage isn't properly locked,
so it's everything's out of a car.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Let him just deal with that morning and deal with cars.
Will be gone anyway. House has been emptied. But he
got to work. You got to work.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
I'm on the show.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yeah yeah, let's let's get the priorties right, Alex. What's
it for you? Moving never ends? My three words, folks,
I'm sick of it. I'm over it. I've had enough.
Just can we just you stood up packed with boxes?
What room we put in this one? And what's in
this box? Where does this go? Where does that go?

Speaker 8 (08:54):
It's a smaller house as well, so we're sort of
trying to get a lot of stuff into a smaller house,
which means we're going to have the color a lot
of stuff.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah, you'll be. You were going to the older op
shops dropping it off, and they are run by a
very tight unit as well. Probably it was heavily guarded.
Thing higher than I think border patrol are the old folks.
You talk about crankiness, that pro level crank do you
not dumb?

Speaker 4 (09:18):
No?

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Not taking furniture for the rest of the year.

Speaker 8 (09:23):
I made the mistake of trying to take some baby clothes.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
We don't take baby clothes.

Speaker 1 (09:27):
I think that people would really need that. There is sweat.

Speaker 8 (09:30):
No baby clothes, No, no, no, that was a bit
of a shock.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
But the unwashed ones were the heavily soil and like
sick and that piece.

Speaker 8 (09:39):
No thank you. But I found this some really high quality.
Yeah you find lots of stuff you haven't worn for
a long time. Well, I get this. I found my
old Today show gortext wet.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
I thought we heard the phrase high quality.

Speaker 8 (09:58):
Now what do I do with my Today's show logo
in blazoned across the frame.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
I think actually, sometimes if you want better seats at something,
turn up in that. See you're recording it for the show.
Camera Man's is coming. I just need to set up
here at the front row of the show. I'm no
longer with Today's show. If you don't want to know why,
just google it? But so.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
Do I whack it on Marketplace?

Speaker 4 (10:22):
You get a good puck. What is suggest?

Speaker 1 (10:27):
Do you know what? No? No, no, it's you know what?
Do your old mate has joined this radio station, Carl Carl,
get him to sign it that add another couple of
dollars to it, give it away as a price.

Speaker 8 (10:40):
He said, like why do you get a sharpie? And
just like black out the Today Show logo? Am I okay, no,
I say, I tell you what?

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Why don't you want to sell it to Lambo Man?
As a little mother.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Christian Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
My three word Wednesday is move your kids. That's why
I had to say to someone, he essay, move your kids.
I am in a lot of pain with my part.
I already hurt my part, and yesterday to have a
lunch with a cline and it was the worst possible thing,
but they were delightful, But it was just sat for
two hours, and it's physio. I had a physio session

(11:16):
yesterday and it was like, you cannot be sitting for
more than ten minutes. You could get up, move heat,
all the stuff you just have doing the stretching and
all this. So I had this two hourl lights. We
sat there and then had to get in a taxi
from the half an hour, and then I had to
move my apartment in this airbnb down two flights of stairs,
so I had to repack a suitcase everything that's been

(11:38):
thrown on the floor because Christian from four days ago
didn't have the bad back on Sunday, just chunking crap
everywhere I'm home alone. A man will go feral within
five minutes of being left alone. Seriously, it was like
breaking bad in there. Is this a meth lab or
is this a professional executive? It's this stuff Everywey's actually
annoyed with myself, like what did you do with this?

(11:59):
Like throwing it everywhere you wanted to go, bending down there,
had to cage to back it up. And then obviously
I've got a suitcase, and I suddenly thought, well, least
I'm going downstairs rather than trying to go up a
bit harder. However, as we know, force equals mass times acceleration.
And as I'm going down the stairs, the suitcase is

(12:19):
pulling me down because my back I can't. I've got
that ability to sort of pull back and jam up.
This is I don't want to lock it up. It's agony.
Is that these spasms that go all the way through.
As I'm coming down the stairs slightly out of control,
I've got only a suitcase pulling me down. My backpack
is on, so there's weight. There's a hat pushing me
down the stairs and a suitcase pulling me down as well.

(12:42):
And just that moment, the lady in the apartment, on
some mind is trying to get two small children out
of a double buggy, one of them because this is
what kids do, walks talk is looking at me because
obviously he would do. There's a man sweating in distress,
moving at velocity down the stairs who's not in control
of his own body. Why wouldn't a kid. Then he

(13:03):
moves towards the first run and puts his foot on there.
And that's why I go with your kids. I'm not
I'm coming. I'm coming down a rapid gaining of knots
as well. Otherwise I'm gonna I'm coming on top of him.
There's no stopping and maybe you maybe getting in that
double buggy and I'm not sure I want to get

(13:24):
out of that double buggy. Can I have one of
their little that retainers? Can I have the little dummy
or something? Please? It's kind of mas so. This poor
woman then reacted with the speed that only a mum
can do. This is a flashy moves him away, you know,
like you seen disaster movies. Yes, yeah, yeah, and sort
of shields him with herself to graze her and correct.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
She sacrificed herself.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
It's an incredible, incredible story. All right, three word Wednesday
from you guys just got engaged. Congratulations, that's what great news.
If you want shared in the details what happened last night,
someone else's three word Wednesday need to win. That's either
a stater of ologen Vibe or someone who's just a
supermarket right now wants to get working troney with four
working wheels. Why are the trolleys of Australia also shonky?

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Are they're not shunky in England? No?

Speaker 1 (14:16):
No no, no, no no no no, they're all there's
always one bung wheel, always one, number two, number three,
but it's always one.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
I thought that's just how they all came.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Christian O'Connell show podcast, Good Morning Christian.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Patsy talking about losing her keys and a garage kicker.
This has been solved. In my house. I have a
bowl on a surface right by the door. I call
it the swingers bowl. Tanya okay. Christian asked Patsy. Did
she leave it at the chemist? Did she share a
story once about a pharmacist that followed her home? Patsy,

(14:53):
everyone works for Patsy.

Speaker 6 (14:57):
We do have a bowl. We do have a system
in place, only I don't use it.

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Well, that's not a system. It's a system of the
system you just got.

Speaker 6 (15:05):
He's got a system, but I'm not using the system.

mission to save the pubs of Australia. Save our pub.
We've partnered up with four X. The Pub's calling. Somewhere
between the first sip and the last laugh, it's always
a four X to Good news is five local pubs
that you tell us about are going to get five
thousand dollars each. Start next week on the show, a

(20:59):
pub a day and then another pub gets the ultimate
pub reno. So tell us about your local pub. Head
to thegold website dot com dot a you.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
Went to our local We've been going to the years.

Speaker 9 (21:17):
At Laces eighteenth there.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
Where we had olberspies, but see better days. In need
to liquor pace. We need to help this joint com
me and all our mates.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
It's anybody say a Christ please save al Pup's anybody.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Gonna say a Christ please save album? All right? The
pubs of Australia need our help. In the last twenty years,
last two decades. You might not know that sixty percent
of local pubs aren't there anymore and they will continue
unless we go back to the local pubs. They are
worth fighting for. Tell us about your local pub. They

(22:01):
would love five thousand dollars right now. I don't think
we've heard about a single pub that doesn't need at
least a liquor paint. Whoever painted the poor pubs of
Australia has ripped them off. Is there a cheap The
weakest paint known to mankind is pub paint. This is
a water down, cheepy, cheepy paint.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
Very thin layers.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
It's house paint all right head to the gold website
dot com today. You can also call us right now
thirteen fifty five twenty two. Joining us now and us
about her local is Rochelle. Good morning, Michelle, welcome to
the show.

Speaker 10 (22:35):
Good morning, how are you.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
I'm good, Rochelle. Thank you very much for give us
a call and telling us about your local pub. So
what's the local pub? Where is it and what do
they need? Okay?

Speaker 10 (22:44):
So our local pub that we really like at the
moment is called the Family in at Ridlemere. So it's
a little treasure that we just discovered a couple of
years ago. And whenever we go there, we always have
a really great time. It's a really positive vibe. A
lot of young staff there and nothing is a problem
for them. So my husband loves the steak, I love

(23:08):
the sh it's all. And you know, we have like
you know, like sometimes it'll be like dinner with wine,
or it might be you know, lunch and a coffee afterwards,
and yeah, we just we just always enjoy there and
we always see like lots of different people there. I
think that's one of the things we like about it,
Like we see you know, the mates in the outdoor areas,

(23:30):
having you know, having a beer, and we see the
young guys inside playing pool and you know, ladies with
their wine, having a little gossip, and you know, it's
it's just it's just somewhere that anyone could go through
and feel really comfortable in.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
Yeah, that's beautiful, beautifully said. That is so true. That's
the thing about these pubs. There not just a building.
It's a place where people get together. And that scene
you just describe so vividly there, there are all those
different people that actually we need to get around each
other and be with each other. We were in mind
that because these days were so separate and so isolated
on our phones at home streaming on our TVs, we

(24:06):
don't get to see and be with each other enough.
I think that's why you described it as a little treasure.
And I think that's part of it. It's probably not
just a nice food and the drink and the wine.
It's also being around other people, isn't it that you
might not normally see.

Speaker 10 (24:19):
Yeah, And that's right. Like I know we've gone there,
like you know, we've taken like older relatives there. They
feel really comfortable. We've taken we've got like some older
teams with like bottomless stomachs and they always come away
satisfied members. Yeah, you know, and yeah, so it just
it just seems the place that's welcome for everyone. Sometimes
my husband and I just go like to get away

(24:40):
from everybody else and you just walk in the door.
You just like breathe out and your shoulders relax, and
then you just feel like I'm just here and you know,
I can just relax and enjoy myself and everyone else
around you is doing the same.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Yeah. And I think that's a definition of a good pub,
isn't it. It's the atmosphere. There's a vibe there and
you describe it feels up the Australian version of the
chairs bar.

Speaker 10 (25:07):
Yes, a little bit like that, but yes, slightly different.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
Now what do they need? What do they need help with?
You think?

Speaker 10 (25:12):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Is?

Speaker 9 (25:13):
It?

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Is?

Speaker 8 (25:13):
It?

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Is it the paint? What needs sprucing up?

Speaker 10 (25:17):
Yeah? I think like the indoor area needs to be
the sprucing up. So when I go there and like
you know, have like lunch and a coffee and like
there's some lounges in the corner and like I would
like you know, and new lounge, you know, just something
a little bit more comfortable.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
We all love a new lounge, like like a new
l shaped lounge. We all would. Let's help this little treasure,
the family in get a new lab.

Speaker 10 (25:42):
And like, yes, that's right, yes, And then yeah, because
my husband nice sort of fight over you know, who's
getting to get you know, so we want you know,
we'll keep trying to keep our davistic arguments out of
the you know, out of public player bring them to
the pub.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
It's always nice to see a couple losing it with
each other in the pub. It is now, it is.
You're just grateful it's not you for once, Rochelle. You've
done such a great job telling us about this pub
and really just speaking to what are so special about pubs?
That phrase a little treasure then all the people there,
the different members of the community, is great, really really lovely.

(26:20):
Thank you so much for taking the time of speak
to us today and tell us about the pub. It's
exactly why we're doing this our places like that the fact,
am I getting it right? The family in, Yes, that's.

Speaker 10 (26:30):
Right, And I hope anyone who's anywhere near that area
will go.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
And visit them in the what is the area? Sorry,
I don't think we caught that. What is there? Because actually,
if you're nearby, pop in this weekend have a drink.
Just watch out for that lounge though, make sure you
pop your backside on the decent emits your partner can
sit on. The spring will be out there.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
It's right on me here. It will be out there
tonight for the state of origin.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Oh right, we should drop in there. Oh brilliant. Thank
you very much for speaking to us. Great to talk
to you, all right, take care, Rochelle. So tell us
about your local pub you know somewhere like that. Please
let us know. Head to Thegold website dot com dot
au and then next week, every single show next week,
one pub gets five thousand dollars.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
It could be yours Christian Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
And I want to know what is in people's boots.
So much stuff is in the boots of our cars.
I think there are two types of people in this world.
There are people that have a spotless one right, it's
actually really clean. I'm not one of those. And there's
people there's stuff that's just in there. Some of it's useful,
some of it is this other stuff that you never
got round because it's outside out of mine, it's probably
been in there. Like for me. There's a bag of

(27:37):
stuff from my recently departed mother in law from two
years ago. I took a lot of her stuff to
the op shop and there was one bag. I just
never got around to do it. It's still there. It's
three of those old people grab us all right?

Speaker 4 (27:51):
She had three of them.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, weekend one and two midwek cheeky ones.
There's just so much junk in a car boot. Inter
and Pete, what is in your carboo way too.

Speaker 11 (28:01):
Much when we're talking about this yesterday, because I was
revealing that my entire family.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Always always has shovels, and we all have shovels. Bit
with farmers, right, And I live in the city. There's
no farmland where you live. You don't live anywhere near
you're at least an hour from farmland.

Speaker 11 (28:15):
You know what when you said I could not be
any more city, yes, there like it.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Literally there's no need for shovels in the boon unless
you're up to someone else. So I thought, what is
in my boot?

Speaker 11 (28:23):
So I opened it yesterday. I've taken a little photo.
I'll hang that to you. Look, I have a lot
of things in here. I have a bread crate and
I can't remember why I entirely have.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
It's a gigantic what It's a good storage thing, isn't
it probably probably keeps the boot clean? The thing? That's
not all about the crake. There's an entire stocked cutlery drawer. Okay,
the most ambmbs don't have. Why have you got all
that silver?

Speaker 11 (28:46):
They were my grandmother's and my father gave them to
me about two years ago and he said, I want
you to have this cutlery and.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Keep it in the boot next to the shovels. That really,
I don't know.

Speaker 11 (28:56):
I don't know what to do with this cutlery because
it's not endorsed. Well, I don't know where to put
it in my it's really look.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Yeah, but isn't it nice cutlery? But that probably heavy
silver work.

Speaker 11 (29:06):
It needs a good polish though as well.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
You've got time the last couple of months. You've had
a lot of time in between projects.

Speaker 11 (29:13):
Things going on behind these things, of course, But I
don't and I get I mean, I'm asking your opinion
this cutlery it is it looks expensive, if it looks fancy,
it needs a.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Really you were. We're now sort of accidentally fall into
an episode of Antiques Roadshow. Just because of English doesn't
mean I know about antiques. People always said, oh, you'll
love this is a very old bit of furniture. Your
homeland is mainly just old furniture and nice and forks.

Speaker 11 (29:34):
I know, my booty is a little bit of There's
some Indian spices there as well, which I think, again,
what's that for? It was a pr gift from the
radio station. I was like, I'll take that and cook
with it. That was maybe three years ago.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
You're on the radio show. I wouldn't say it was
like spicy like that strikes me as more butter chicken
flavors in there? Way? Do you want that? If you
love Indian food, I'd love that. I love Indian food. Yeah,
I'll have the spices. Yeah. Do you want to have
a bit of fun? Ask Patsy to pronounce what that's called.

(30:07):
Oh no, no, some fol what they called cuttley? What custlery?

Speaker 6 (30:13):
Did I get it right?

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Google? Google Translate right now? That d in there. Pete.

Speaker 7 (30:22):
However, and I'll finally learned as a news reader in
nearly forty years that it's.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
So many news stories involved stolen silver ware cutlery. They
will be to cutlery thieves. The hoon's made off.

Speaker 11 (30:35):
I'm sorry my books are and I'm sorry for you
Patty as.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
Well with atsuy. What's in yours as yours? Well, I'm
imagine your will be quite tidy.

Speaker 6 (30:41):
Oh god, no, it's like a storage unit.

Speaker 7 (30:43):
So I've got about fifty million of those reusable shopping bags.

Speaker 4 (30:47):
Oh yeah, yeah, bag for like, I too have an
p shop.

Speaker 7 (30:52):
Big garbage bag that's been in there for a number
of months. I keep forgetting to drop it off.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
I reckon that would be during the next twenty minutes.
I reckon that's going the most common ones. And also
those what's those you blue utility Ikea bags?

Speaker 6 (31:04):
Oh yes, they're brilliant, greatst bags in the world, aren't they.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (31:07):
So what else have I got in there? I've got
chump of leads, but I don't know why because the
engines now the car engines, yeah, they.

Speaker 7 (31:14):
Don't like them know how to restart. I don't know
if you can even see the battery. And I also
keep it for a little stash for prezzies. So Audrey's
birthday is coming up and a couple of her prezzies
are in the book, because I know she won't look
in there.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
I wouldn't think that's a safe place to store them.
In the boots broken into cars.

Speaker 6 (31:31):
Oh no, it's all right, she won't look in the boots.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Broken into Yeah, you've got your security cameras up everywhere.

Speaker 7 (31:40):
No, but I'm not cutting Cardier jewels in the back.
It's just a couple of cheap prezzies.

Speaker 6 (31:45):
It'll be right.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Christian O'Connell Show Gone Podcast.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
What is in your car boots? We want to know?
Thirteen fifty five, twenty two. A lot of people just
horrify by the sound of Intern Pietz carboot. Someone standing
Christians like Yellowstone meets Jeffrey Darmer. Is he ken in
the people with the shovel and then chopping them up
very slowly, carve them up with some antique cutlery. They

(32:15):
do appear to be linked. I also saw, by the way,
because he shared a photo of it on our WhatsApp group,
and you know, you expand the fight, so I saw
that he's got a selfie stick and a iPhone tripod
as well. Whatever he's going on in we just need
to be careful. Did we check any any sort of

(32:35):
police checks with him? We hired him with he was
damaged goods already. All right, so let's take some calls here.
We got Jody here more.

Speaker 12 (32:43):
Than Jody morning, Christian, how are you?

Speaker 1 (32:46):
I'm good, Welcome to the show. So Jody, what's in
the carboo?

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Well, I've got the.

Speaker 12 (32:51):
Normal stuff, you know, told up chairs, picnic blankets, hat towls.
But I've also got my in laws bronze plaque that
I haven't had a chance to put on their grave yet.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
When was it meant to go on.

Speaker 12 (33:05):
Probably a few months ago. I just haven't had a
chance to get to the people to put it on.

Speaker 1 (33:11):
No, no, no, exactly. We're just leading busy lives, aren't we.
And like I said, yeah, and it sits in the
boot and you forget it's even there. It's that thing.
Oh God'll get around to that in a couple of
weeks time, or at some point you forget it's actually
there because you can't see it. I think that's why
we put some stuff there.

Speaker 12 (33:26):
Well, I do have a day off on the eighteenth
of June, so I think I might be able to
get it.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Then, Penciler in then on your day off on the eighteenth. Okay,
it's good to.

Speaker 9 (33:33):
Do on that.

Speaker 12 (33:34):
Yeah, put it in my calendar.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
Yeah, put it in your It's a lovely thing and
appointment to put in there. All right, Jody, thanks you
going to miss it. Call have a good days. Bye, Sebastian,
Good morning, super seb Sebastian. Hello, yeah there you yeah, yeah, yeah,
all right, so thanks to call us. We're seeing a
car boot.

Speaker 9 (33:54):
Mate, I've got a v engine in my carboot.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Right, what it's a spare in case your car engine stops.

Speaker 9 (34:04):
No, we're working, me and my dad, we're working on
a project car. And yeah we put it in the
boot because we were fixing the car in Bendigo and
we had to get the engine down to Melbourne.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Yep.

Speaker 9 (34:17):
And yeah, there wasn't really any other place to put
it other than the boot.

Speaker 1 (34:22):
No, you're quite right, actually doing to put in the
passenger seat. You know, it's heavy and it's messy stick
in the car boot. It must weigh quite a lot though.

Speaker 11 (34:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (34:30):
The car is a bit on like, it's a bit
back heavy, but it got from it got from Bendigo
to Melbourne in one piece.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
So what are you planning to do with a V
eight engine though, are you going to Bathurst or what's
the plant?

Speaker 9 (34:45):
Yeah, we're building a Holden statement.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
So I love this project with you and that's great.
And then yeah, you're going to take it to the
car shows.

Speaker 9 (34:56):
Or probably Yeah, it's all sort of he says, it's
my car, but it's sort of his like guidance, so
you know, it's sort of a car where me and
him working on.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
But yeah, well this is like Star Wars, this is
like Luke and Obi wan Kenobi. Yeah, he's training you
up in the ways. I love this. Yeah, all right,
so asking good luck with it. Love his story, Thank
you very much for calling him.

Speaker 9 (35:24):
Thanks you very much.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Have a good day, Josephine. Hello, hello Josephine.

Speaker 10 (35:30):
Good morning, Christian.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
How are you?

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Good morning as well? So who else is in the
car this morning? Are we on the school run?

Speaker 5 (35:37):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (35:37):
School right, Marcus, Christopher, Good.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Morning to Marcus, Good morning to Christopher.

Speaker 13 (35:44):
Good morning Christian. I've got a French.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
Horn in my wow oe.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
That is a rich, mellow sounding instrument, the French horn. Yeah,
and you play you have lessons?

Speaker 13 (35:59):
Oh yeah, I played lessons and I played in a
concert last night.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
Last night you were on stage playing the old french horn. Yeah?
What song were you doing?

Speaker 13 (36:09):
I was playing a song called Byzantine Dancers' Share One.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Isn't it? Uh?

Speaker 13 (36:18):
Yeah, it's a pretty old one. It's pretty tricky too,
but yeah, but I can't really play it for a solo.

Speaker 10 (36:25):
It requires other instruments, does it.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
I didn't know that about the french horn. You're right.
You don't get a lot of modern songs of french
horn solo until now, were you?

Speaker 9 (36:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:37):
And now is there any chance so you can't get
the french horn now to play on the show, so
we can hear that.

Speaker 13 (36:43):
I've got it in my hands right now. I can
play something to you.

Speaker 6 (36:46):
Were called Joe for Christian?

Speaker 1 (36:47):
Oh, this is great. It's a now it's a live
mini concept pulled over. Everyone wants to hear you play
the french horn.

Speaker 10 (36:55):
It's live from Kiribilly.

Speaker 1 (36:57):
This is like you're going to wake up the PM
french horn all right in your own time. Let's hear
you play the French one. Thank you for doing this.

Speaker 13 (37:12):
Okay, there's that.

Speaker 1 (37:25):
That's a lot. That sounded beautiful.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
Thank you.

Speaker 13 (37:31):
I've been playing the french horn for four years now.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Yeah, I bet it's a tough one to learn.

Speaker 13 (37:37):
Yeah, there are quite a few buttons and control. Christerph
you're going to say goodbye to question by Christion.

Speaker 10 (37:44):
I've got to go to school.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
From that, all right?

Speaker 1 (37:46):
So bloody Oh that's a tough start for day, isn't it. Yeah,
poor hope it goes well. Thanks for corning. Can we
have just one more blast on that French horn?

Speaker 5 (37:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (37:55):
Yeah, Oh.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
That's great.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
That is great. What a joint wants to speak.

Speaker 14 (38:11):
To you all?

Speaker 13 (38:12):
I can drop about that your place so he can practiced.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
No, no, no, we're all good here. God you brought
me to the world. You can hear in practice, all right,
Josephine and Marcus and Christopher, thank you so much.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
I'll just realize what I want to build her over
the next couple of weeks. I'd imagine right now on
the various school runs, there are a lot of other
kids like Christopher who've got a musical instrument in the
car for a lesson or performance or rehearsal that day
we try and build to a school run symphony. Oh

(38:49):
what a listen that'll be, I'll tell you what something
majestical at the grassroots level you would deny a young kid,
Christopher and the joy of the French. Thank you. It's
in the studio right now, Christopher. Just a beautiful, rich sound.
And would you want to hear that? Of various light

(39:10):
school runs, Mountman, Sydney, Charletts. Well maybe a little cheeky violin. Oh,
Marie's got the fiddle, that's what. So listen if you're on,
if you do the school run and once a week
one of the old kids says, God, that's the sweating
and want to look up. We'll keep that to sound,

(39:30):
shall we don't ever ask someone out on the radio.
I'm trying to censor myself. I one of the one
the kids once a week is in the car with
the musical instrument. We need them. I'm planning my school
run symphony. All right, a twenty not this morning. This
is back, I.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
Believe it or not. One of the yards.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
You gotta be justhing me.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
Like, were you a Cheryl who married a Hun who
was weird?

Speaker 1 (40:02):
The Cheryl.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
Who married a Hun?

Speaker 1 (40:06):
As well? Every Wednesday on the show your stories of
coincidence and chance? What are the odds?

Speaker 15 (40:14):
Years ago we were on a river cruise, we met
some other ossies and the elderly couple. Turns out they
had lived in the same street that my wife had
lived in as a little baby, and that they had
actually nursed her fifty years before.

Speaker 3 (40:29):
It was amazing.

Speaker 10 (40:30):
It was amazing, and it was more amazing seeing them
with six people.

Speaker 3 (40:34):
And the husband of the lady said, oh, yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
Remember your father.

Speaker 10 (40:38):
He was He was silly as a wheeling. Your mother
was weird.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
Yeah, you remember that last week the French horn. Of course,
two people trying to tell the same story. We all
get into that situation, don't you. In the relationship. You start,
you know, completing each other's sentences and you end up
just correcting each other's memories. Wonderful love story. Then, all right,
so we're looking for your story. So what are the odds?

(41:03):
The lines are open now put donly French horns give
us a call. Thirteen fifty five. We start with Phil Christian.
Last Wednesday at work, I was in the office making
small talk with the boss. I mentioned that on Wednesday
nights I usually go to pub trivia with a few friends.
It's our weekly thing. We're pretty good and we usually
get a podium finish. My boss then decided to test

(41:24):
me with a few quick choir questions, first of which
was to name the full maiden names of all five
members of the Spice Girls Maids. I was able to
name three of them. Pretty good. I reckon google the
rest of the names as you do. Now we skip
forward to that night, I'm at the weekly pub trivia

(41:45):
lo and behold the first question of the night. For
five points, name the four names of all five members
of the Spice Girls. Said to say, Christian and easy,
five points. What a sorry, I love that one. What
a great want to kick us off with. Thank you
very much, Phil Marcus. He loved as well.

Speaker 3 (42:08):
The Christian O'Connell show podcast.

Speaker 1 (42:11):
We're running a little bit behind. We're running so behind
today I offer no apologies. You're saying you don't want
me to stop the show. And hear a young boy
play his French horn, then maybe we're not the show
for you. Good morning, Christian, this is Lee and Sydney.
My boot is full of equipment. We're talking about car
boots today. What's in yours? Christ In? My car boot
is full of equipment for older people to play walk, soccer,

(42:34):
fold up goals. I've got so not girls fold up goals.
It's a depth of every thing I do. Fold up
goals for sexy Land. I'm an ambassador fold up goals, balls, bibbs, linemarkers,
et cetera. We are volunteers around Australia, how Mays and
this is walk soccer to holp Older people. Women over forty,

(42:55):
men over fifty. Hang on a minute, we're not old, Tom.
How do we tapped up by walk soccer? Fifty three?
I think I struggled with my bad back today. Stick
me in the nets at least, Jog Soucker, Come on, yeh,
stroll stroll soccer to keep active fit. And so she

(43:15):
connected my playing a form of football which is no running,
no contact, no heading and no goalkeepers. We don't get
any funding from the government, so it's like the soccer
is basically and that squad is sending out to the
World Cup from Football Australia. Lee Pepper, what a legend
you are. That's fantastic Christian believe it or not. All right,

(43:37):
it's not called that, but we go with that. No,
not you again? What are the odds? In twenty eighteen,
when my daunt was eight, we were going from Melbourne
to Sydney to get on a cruise. She was obsessed
with the Norris Nuts at the time, a big YouTuber family.
She kept saying they live in Sydney. She might see them.
We told her over and over again, unlikely. Sydney is huge. Disembarking,

(44:01):
great word, disembarking off the cruise, walking through Sydney City
with our luggage. I here, I scream, oh my god,
it's the Norris Nuts question one of the arts. Wow,
they were doing a photo shoot shoot me down in
the Irons and I told you, but see then we
posted phones and with them.

Speaker 4 (44:20):
The Norris Nuts Nuts family.

Speaker 1 (44:22):
Right, Glenn's on the line. You got a story for us, Gleam,
Yes I do.

Speaker 14 (44:27):
I was doing some home renods. I needed some trusses.
I got given a contact named Dave by my neighbor Terry.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
I rang up.

Speaker 14 (44:34):
They said, get a Dave here. I got your number
from Terry. Terry the bricky Yep, he was just in
ordered the trusses. I said, my suburb. They said, where's this?

Speaker 3 (44:45):
They didn't know where it was.

Speaker 14 (44:47):
I had rang another trust company named Dave with the
same phone number, missing one number in a different state.
And the contact from another guy, Terry that they also
knew what.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
The same place.

Speaker 14 (45:05):
Exactly right.

Speaker 1 (45:06):
That is incredible. What are the odds? What are the odds? Yeah,
lovely story. Thank you very much, Glenn, Thank you, Sharon,
have a good day you two. Hey Linda, Yes, yeah,
h Linda, what about it? What's your story then? For
what are the odds?

Speaker 2 (45:23):
My sister's copying me? So there's a seven year age
chap between my sister and I.

Speaker 9 (45:28):
I married a.

Speaker 2 (45:29):
