slumming back to us here on the radio. We're here

on Friday.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
She did, she did, definitely, Yeah she did.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, shook us off.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
And here we are, weekend away from you lost a.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
Long weekend away on weekend and here we are.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
Here we are morning Rio, Good morning, and good morning Alex.
Good morning. Now, before we crack into today's show and
we'll get into three world weekend, we have some well
I think it's kind of good news for somebody on
the show, but sad news as well. Alex. Why don't
you share your news money.
Speaker 6 (02:23):
Yeah, it's a difficult morning this morning, but a joyful
one and one filled with gratitude because I just want
to say this off the bat, I thoroughly enjoyed my
time at this wonderful show, the Christian O'Connell Show. And
I mean, the last year, it's been so much fun
juggling these three kids, my three young children, and two jobs.
Two jobs. It's been chaotic, but a whole lot of fun.
(02:47):
But I just want to say working with Christian and
you guys, it's been a privilege. It really has. I
want to really focus on that. It's been so so fun.
I've had so much fun.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
We have to it's really been wonderful.
Speaker 6 (03:00):
But look, the grind of holding down two jobs at
both ends of the day was proving too much. It
really was, and something had to give. Some really serious
conversations with my wife Bonnie, and I've decided to well,
the time is right. I've decided the time is right
to put that early morning alarm clock away for a
while and concentrate my life. It's on my TV roles
(03:22):
and my very very very energetic young family. You guys
know that. Thank you to Christian and you guys for
the laughs, the joy. Thank you to our wonderful audience
as well, oh wow, you guys are amazing. You tune
in every day and it's an honor to serve you.
That's what we do. We're here for you, guys, the listeners,
and so I just want to wish Christian Rio, Pats
(03:44):
and the team Caitlin all the very best and the
continued success, and I'll listen on with the fondest of memories.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
So that's it for me today. This will be my
last day and I'm going to go out with a bang. Folks. Hey,
let's do that first. We're going to miss you. I
did think when you initially joined the show, I wanted
how long you better do it? Because it's a lot.
You've got a young family, three kids under age of six,
holding down two jobs. Some of you might not know,
but not only does that, it's work on this show
(04:12):
as ways I saw on Channel seven five days a week.
So it's it's a lot. You've got two jobs and
the most important one is your family. That's it.
Speaker 6 (04:22):
And it's it's been very hard on them, it really has.
And Bonnie as well, So we've got three jobs. Really
Bonnie as well, she's working full time for the Strain
and Financial Reviews, So and I told the kids yesterday.
I sat them down, I said, guys, Daddy's not.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Going to be doing breakfast round now anymore. And they
were so pleased.
Speaker 6 (04:40):
The kids, the twins are, oh, daddy, you were going
to get to.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Break series hoping not to be doing breakfast ready and
more Friday, but sadly.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Next next time, next time.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
And also they're probably site because now you've become full
time player coach for the Hoop Fairies exactly coach, player coach,
and I can join in the stress of the school
mornings and drop them off and it just been there
for breakfast and well, it's it's been a deep joy
working with him. Get to know you, Alex, Yeah, I
think you're one of the kindest and loveliest people we've
ever had on the team, and so we're really going
(05:14):
to miss you, mate. But I totally understand any anytime
you make a decision about career and work and the
most important thing is keeping your family and being present
for them, you're always going to be making You're on
safe ground. You're making the right decision, thank you. So
I don't know many people who would actually get up
to come in and say I'm leaving at six am.
I half expect you could just read this out. I'm
(05:35):
want to begin that lie in now, you know. Fair
play for actually showing up the storing and saying I
thank you. Not many people come in on their last
stage to say goodbye, see to send an email, So
still show up today says a lot about the pro
you are as well. Alex. We are really going to
miss you, but we also wish you all the best.
(05:55):
The one thing I would say is the moment you
finished with us this morning, turn your phone off because
in the morning, because obviously Pats is now probably back
on sport.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Ron Garosh.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
And then we've got the World Cup. So many foreign names, God,
so many foreign names, Amica nations, soccers as wells going
to be a bumpy old road audience. All right, Coming
up next, we're to get into three word weekend. Alex
(06:29):
is obviously already jumped the gun and done. I'm out
of here as.
Speaker 3 (06:32):
His Christian O'Connell show podcast.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Right though, Look, tell us about your weekend is three words?
How is your weekend? Text me oh four seven five
three one oh four three Ria, what happened to you? No?
I you Friday? You were heading off to Byron.
Speaker 7 (06:48):
Yes, I was so excited, and now I come to
you on Monday as a broken man.
Speaker 4 (06:53):
My three word weekend is hobbling.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
On holiday, we went to Byron with some friends from
Friday to Sunday. On the Saturday morning, I made what
now looks like idiotic decision to do exercise on holiday.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Which is stupid to begin with the train, stay in
the super.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
You bring them thinking exercise, but I actually did.
Speaker 7 (07:15):
I woke up a bit early, said I'll take myself
on a lovely jog up to the lighthouse. But then
as I was getting maybe like one k from the lighthouse,
there's this beautiful the vista sort of opens up.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I'm looking out.
Speaker 7 (07:27):
There's all these influences around filming content, obviously because it's Byron.
As I'm running back onto the path, I missed the path.
I hit my ankle on the gutter, roll my ankle
fall over and immediately immediately started blowing up like a
tennis ball. And I'm so far from home as well,
four k's from home. No one offered to help me.
(07:49):
Can I just say, none of the influence.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
They're just sort of looking at this too many.
Speaker 7 (07:56):
Yeah, I'm going put the selfie step down, you idiots.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
I needed it as a walking or something.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
It's a sprint for your leg.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
And then I had to call my friend to come
and pick me up because it's it's so fine, it's
so hilly to get back and I couldn't walk, so
I had to get my friends.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
You think you've broken it? Or what have you done?
If it blew up quickly, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
We'll find out.
Speaker 7 (08:18):
I got a physio appointment today to go and find
out what's wrong with it. But I can tell them what.
It's very very swollen and very very painful. At the
ice at the pub, I had to sit with an
ice pack elevated with my foot on a stool.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Welcome to middle age, it was bleed. Welcome to middle age.
That hits. And also so when you went outter you
run Saturday mornings? You going out for a big weekend
to Byron? Yes, had you been out the friday night,
had been out the friday night? You're rung? You're going
for a Ron hungover? No wonder you missed a step.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
I thought maybe it'd flush it out, but I didn't
do that at all.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Poor man.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Christian Connell Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Christian My Three work weekend is no more beans. We
had a vegetarian dish on Saturday with four types of beans.
What what do you think work chippeace.
Speaker 7 (09:08):
Chickpean broad being beans, Pidney beans maybe yea.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
And Christian things are still on the gas the end.
They will be for the other days and I feel
so if you work colleagues, stop offing at a sprits
on the way or something you can spray around the room.
But certainly one of those horrible plugging ones. Christian three
word weekend. I hate penalties. This is a very sad
Arsenal fan who went to a local hotel to watch
(09:36):
the Champions League final in the early hours of Sunday.
More than that would have been one am to see
Arsenal lose the Champions League Final on the cruelest way
to ever go out penalties. Oh three things about it.
So watch the game. I didn't get up live. I
saw the highlights in the morning. It is the biggest
trophy I've ever seen in sport, the Champions League trophy.
Have a quick google this morning. It's fascinating seeing basically
(09:59):
eleven millionaires trying to hold up a small child. It's
got big E's on it and you see these grown
men need two arms to hold this a trophy. I
mean the World Cup, which is less than two weeks away,
is smaller. It is rotesquely large. As long as saying
Bogan qualities. If Bogan's designed a sporting cup that's decided,
(10:22):
it is massive.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
And soccer players aren't the shoes.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
They're not like rugby lads, you know, they're tiny, eleven
millionaires only like two of them try and lift this
cup over their head. The other thing is the croolest
thing you have to do. It's not mandatory, but then
all the teams do. It is the loser's guard of honor.
What's that? Wow? It is incredible. So imagine you lose,
You lose the Champions League finals. So many things have
to go right over your season to even make it
(10:47):
into a final. And it was a very very close game. Okay,
Arsenal started early, got an early goal, then when one
all they get through extra time and then it's a
penalty shootout. Your one goal away from winning. Other than
the World Cup, the next biggest trophy in sport. One
hundred and fifty seven million people are watching it live
around the world. Is huge. You lose, and those are
one hundred and fifty seven million people. You go from
(11:09):
either being a hero or a meme immediately, and then
you have to make a guard of honor to clap
you being losers, to clap the winners getting up.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
Oh no, I'm not doing that.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
That's awful.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
I'm not doing that.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Isn't that. I've never seen it in another sport. Socker's
obviously invented by the British, but there's something crawled and
slough self sort of flagellation about that. The losers, God,
they see them all. Listen, they're all just heartbroken. And
they got to do the old losing.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
By screw up.
Speaker 6 (11:41):
I always said to my girl's humbling victory gallant in defeat.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Yes, yes, you know, yeah yeah, but then suddenly you
crash out on penalties too. Of the penalty takers did
this silly thing where they do like a stuttering run
up where they still and then screwed it up.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
You do that, you gotta nail it.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
They did. They did brutal, perhasly. What's your three word weekend.
Speaker 8 (12:04):
Yeah, breaking bad neighbors. So you know, on one side,
we've got new neighbors. But they haven't fully moved in yet,
so we've been well, this sounds wrong, but you know
they're news. So we've been have been looking, not over
the fence, but keeping a close eye on what they're doing,
like are they going to renovate and.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
You've got the new you got the new cameras up.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Now have you got the new cameras? But it's not
pointing at their house.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
The ones that are probably found in Sydney fed out
the sky on the Laser Show.
Speaker 8 (12:35):
But every morning we wake up there's something different that's happened.
So my theory is I reckon they're working during the
day and then they come at night and do their
painting or whatever. They're clearly doing painting because they've just
over the weekend they put up black plastic over all
of the windows.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Sus well the rest of the family mainly.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
I think it's trying to keep out the drones, the camera.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Well, the love God's very suspicious.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
He goes, it's a lot of breaking bad in there,
like what are they quite aggressive?
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Look black ben finliners on the windows.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Every single window. And I said, it's not suspicious.
Speaker 8 (13:13):
They're clearly painting. Of course they've got he said, But
you don't put black.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
They were probably the neighbors of water white. Yes, that
guy really, I was going out camping.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
I tried to explain.
Speaker 8 (13:26):
But now when people paint, they've got like the spray gun,
haven't they like the air gun? I said, that's why
the black plastics are.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
But it's not like old so I'm sure it's completely legit.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Or it's not. There're a water system there as well, hydroprodics.
Like my three word weekend is late anniversary dinner. Oh
so last weekend it was my wife and I was
twenty eighth wedding anniversary. And I was saying, last Monday,
how I booked dinner to go out on Saturday morning.
(14:00):
My wife is well come, so I can't be bothered.
I can't be bothered. To dry my hair now my
wife has I would say it's long long hair, but
medium hair length.
Speaker 9 (14:09):
Would you say it's thick? It is quite kind of
like a young frizzy frow. Oh no, no, no, she
knows if she doesn't get it dry completely dry it.
I've never and so it takes an age for her
to dry her hair. For me, it's not that big
a deal. Okay, I'll have a beer and I just
wait and wait and wait.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
But for her it was just simply too stress for
to go instead Ofbate twenty eight years ago. That's so
get back from Sydney Friday, and I surprised her. I
moved the restaurant booking back a week and we went out.
She had no idea, and I said, we're going now.
Oh hell, loo's great, it's very dry. Don't go in
here and shower, woman, Please don't have to shower now.
(14:50):
I said, we're going now. I said, you've got five
minutes to get whether she hated it. We got into
a mild argument. Yeah, you don't know what it's like.
I'm like, oh my god, how can I surprise someone?
And I'm getting told off. This is twenty eight years
of marriage. I'm still screwing up. Even a surprise is
a bad thing.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
I hate surprise.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
So she said to me, do you like it? I said,
I'm ready to go at any moment for a surprise dinner.
Now you can wait now, I reckon, you can wait
me at at three am, give me two minutes.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
What was she just in her gym clothes or did
but I said, listen, no one cares.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
What you're wearing.
Speaker 8 (15:28):
Oh no, you don't say that.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
No, no, no, I'm still making mistakes. After twenty eight
years of marriage. I actually think I've learnt nothing.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
Christian O'Connell shown podcast.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Christian, My five year old sister scored in her first
goal playing competitive soccer. The joint on her face was amazing,
Christian triple threat win. Not only did my AFL team win, finally,
my NRL team, Go Dragons secured their first win Christian
maybe even ever. And my club soccer team went on
(16:01):
to win our game yesterday. Smiles all round, Emma. That's huge.
All right, Monday Menders, did you mend you think of
the weekend? If so, you can join the most exclusive
club there is, the Monday Man Bond City Men. Yes,
I did, guys. After a couple of weekends that I
(16:23):
have been pretty quiet in terms of the mending. Im
back with another huge victory, Lamb. A little bit of
a disgusting situation at home. Our big cat Larry has
been maintaining our dirty protest oh okay, okay, yep and
leaving a puddle of yeah and it's rotting the floor.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Oh my goodness, graciousness, why have you not cleaned it up.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Oh no, it gets cleaned up. But he does it
while we're asleep. What a menace? I mean, I wake
up more like, goddamn it, man, you got your trade?
What more do you want? Go over there? Now he
knows how he's a during today, but he's annoyed that
we're asleep. So it's this horrible, horrible thing I have
to navigate every morning. Oh my hands in these guys
(17:06):
four fifteen mopping his pee up? But what are his man?
Speaker 4 (17:09):
So that's his protest. Is he demanding that you guys
stay up all night with him and play with him?
Speaker 10 (17:13):
No?
Speaker 1 (17:13):
No, no, he wants to go outside, right fight. We
moved six months ago. There's a rival cat and during
the day suddenly I'm on a business call. You hear this,
Larry Larry, and there's this other mega cat. Obviously battle
of who's the fattest cat in the neighborhood. It turns
out you can't have two fat cats. Who's got a
(17:35):
trim down? There's only room for one fat cat on
this block, literally, and this other cat is like it's huge, right, well,
I'd love to see him go ahead. Oh my god,
it's on. It's like you have seen similarly. So my wife,
I think, maybe get a cat flat. But I said, hey,
when we're a kid, we had a cat flat, right,
and what would happen? We get woken up in the
(17:56):
early morning. Other cats would come in and they would
use the kitchen as a kind of octagon, so you'd
have three or four rival cats fighting fin our kitchen.
And she goes, no, I'm pretty sure they can. You
can get a cat flap now with a code. I went,
what he's going to take He's going to tap his boss.
What's my dating for? Oh three? Oh three? Oh god,
(18:20):
damn it? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, Larry, No, Larry,
what is it? Oh god? Is it a hashtag? Was
it hashtag?
Speaker 10 (18:30):
I did?
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Oh god, Larry, you're trying me too clever with the password. Anyway,
I've also done some research into AI that smart. Why
is the cat suddenly doing this? Once they do it?
Once they think this is now an area of interest.
I will come here every night and do this. And
so I brought the spray yesterday, oh yeah, to spray.
And I got up this morning and guys me cit men,
(18:58):
ain't no peace for Larry. He was just sat on
the couch like an angry owl staring at me when
I woke up. You don't like this smount of citronella?
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Ay, Larry, you still got the running floor boards?
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Doesn't matter, all right? I'm not a flora?
Speaker 3 (19:13):
Is it a flora?
Speaker 1 (19:14):
Are they called Flora's?
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (19:17):
I'm not a flora. I'm a menda. He doesn't like
the smell of sex, Sanana, and the whole house thinks
clipping that I ate it. Now we're all going to suffer, Larry.
We're gonna just wait this horrible sick game out until
you remember a code, Larry, and we get you a
cat flow. Patsy, what's their love? God? Her husband been
up to over the weekend?
Speaker 8 (19:36):
Oh, you just assume that he's fixed it. I do
fix stuff, but he did fix this.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
I can't win. It's because you told the producers, Oh,
Chris mended something over the weekend, and I walk into
a trap. You would think that, Oh, you wouldn't think
that because the producers told you have it. Turns out
I have got that story and the men did fix it. Yes, sure,
But tell you what, though, Patsy, would you'd win this
feature if we did Monday Breakers?
Speaker 8 (20:03):
Well? It seems to be that it's past it on
to my daughter. So am I nearly fifteen year old daughter.
She's got a blind on her bedroom window that she
just managed to just like rip off out of its
hinges about a week ago.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
In line, they are to be fair, they are feedly things.
That was blind. This isn't this is very simple. That
draw thing it's got the rigging a ship.
Speaker 8 (20:26):
Oh God on the honestly, she just ripped it, just
ripped it out of its brackets. So we thought, now,
I've got to get a man to fix that. Anyway,
the love God said no, I'll fix it, and he
did at the weekend. It took him about two hours,
huge choice words coming out of there, but it's done
and it's fixed.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
All right.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
Are you a Monday Mender? Did you mend anything over
the weekend? Are you a flora? Because I'm not hoping.
We've established that this morning already on the show.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
The Christian O'Connell show Podcast.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Of the weekend. Did you mend anything? Then you can
come join the Monday Menders.
Speaker 10 (21:02):
Club fit mended by.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Yes, I did Christian on a Monday mender this weekend
onmanded my parents coffee grinder that said it wasn't working.
Turns out there were no beans left in it. Easy
ment that would easy meant that would? I hope you
start banging it around? Made out was a really big job, Christian,
Monday mender. I just had to pull over flat tire,
changed it all by myself. Oh that's this huge thing
(21:29):
to do before seven o'clock on a Monday. Christian. You
can get a device to hang on your cat's collar
that allows only him to access his cat flat. Hey, listen,
he doesn't wear a collar. He lost his he lost
his mind. He refused to wear a collar. Really yeah, no, no, no,
you can't collar that cat? Sorry, no, there were no
can do that? Can he put it on his wrist
(21:51):
or chi?
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Can a ankle tag or something like a criminal?
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Yes? He kind of is like that, Christian. We have
the same problem as our cat. What is the name
of the spray please? That's from Jane. I find out
the rest of these are mainly cat flat related anything
to do with cats. We just get so many messages
about this. Thank you very much about the cat fat love.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
The Christian O'Connell show podcast.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
The first pub gets nominated and gets them money five
thousand dollars. Five pubs get five thousand dollars each this
week on Save our pub The other big thing is
happening Thursday. This Thursday is June and fourth. That is
a very very special date for me, the team and
my family as well. On June fourth. In twenty eighteen,
I started my first breakfast radio show, The the Side
(22:41):
of the World. Two years after I said goodbye to
twenty years on UK radio, I ended the other side
of the world and started this show. And in fact
me and Patsy the only survivors. And that is the
way you talk about breakfast radio. It really is like
swimming with sharks. And in fact even eight years in
breakfast radio years is like one hundred years in any
(23:02):
other job. Yes, a survive eight especially as let's just
same muscle. Talk about the whitelef of the room, not
from round here, not from a round here, which was
made very very clear to me in the first eighteen
months two years of the show when I started in
twenty eighteen. Get this in twenty eighteen, Dune the fourth,
when I launched this show, about a week into it,
someone was in a meeting room at Triple M headquarters
(23:26):
and said there'd been a meeting about me and someone
in that room had said he won't make Christmas, and
I've got to be honest, I kind of agreed with him.
I wasn't sure for various personal reasons, me and the
family would even make it six months to see our
first Christmas here at the end of twenteen. But thanks
to the huge generosity other people that gave this show
ago and still are almost eight years on, the show
(23:47):
is still actually incredibly coming strong and it has changed me.
And without the show going well and you guys listening
to the show maybe telling your friends about it, there
is no life in me and my family here in
Australia as well. So it really is this just about
the radio show and my job. It actually is is
something my family are all excited about Thursday and eight
years of doing the show and so ays of doing
(24:07):
the show isn't about eight years to me, it's each
of those shows. That's what life comes down to, is
how are you showing up the best you can every
single day. So when we start the show Thursday, it
has actually show number one thousand, five hundred and twelve
and in the last couple of weeks, so We've been
thinking I want to do something to say thank you,
(24:28):
to give you something. How can I give away a
lot of things? And a couple of weeks ago we
gave away one hundred Viennettas. And the reason why we
were talking about when you were a kid, what did
you think was fancy? And the number one thing you
said was Vonettas. So it's a team. Why don't we
give away a load of Vinettas? And since Staton, why
don't we give away a lot of Vienettas, Let's give
away one hundred. It blew our minds what a thing
(24:51):
this became. It became oddly a very moving experience giving
away one hundred Vienettas. It was one of the biggest
things we've done in eight years of the show. And
so how am I going to thank you for those
one thousand, five hundred and twelve shows giving away one thousand,
five hundred and twelve Vianettas. Yeah, Yeah, one thousand, five
(25:13):
hundred and twelve Viennettas will be giving away this Thursday
from six am.
Speaker 10 (25:19):
We all needed more than ever an ice cream cake
with Franchie Setter callin me an instant Winna Christian's given
you a Vanetta.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
You need to say birthday Diannetta and then try and
wrap in one thousand, five hundred and twelve twelve twelve
twelve twelve? Do you get it anyway? Borthday vanettas now
not an easy thing to sort this out? Not an
easy thing to sort this out. Last week we recruit
a new member who's come over to Bright Salvadal from
(25:51):
the Carvan Jackio Show, also human being in turn Pete.
That's who I challenged this with when we were talking
about joining the show. Was he going to go? I
gave him an impossible mission to secure one thousand, five
hundred and twelve Viennetta's Pete, thank you? Have you done it? Yes?
I personally I want to say, I'm okay.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
We have one thousand five.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
P and I checked over the weekend. This is actually
going to go in the Guinness Book of Records. It's
the biggest ever single radio giveaway. Obviously, big sums of
money been given away. They're not individual things, not one
thousand and five vo thon twelve of any one thing.
So one thousand and five Vigon twelve Vanetta's You'll have
ready to give away Thursday?
Speaker 11 (26:35):
Yes, And when I say ready there is a few
logistic things back in, so we as I have no
doubt we will be good to go. Obviously a little
bit in quotation marks there, there is a couple of
little things back in that we do need to sort.
We need to sort freezer space here, let's call Vanetta
HQ if we can call it that.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
We've only got a couple of like just work fridges
crammed with people's food.
Speaker 11 (26:56):
Yeah, okay, So Friday afternoon to go behind the curtain
a little bit, I was like, we're gonna need freezer space,
so obviously, well, I was like, we're gonna need maybe
four to five freezers here there, everywhere wherever we need
to just basically keep is cold. So I've got a
couple so far, which is good. I was asking around
to the office managers what we could do to I
guess make them accessible to put to basically just store
(27:20):
them everywhere, and everyone was a bit like, I'm not
sure about freezers in the workplace and all that sort
of stuff.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
And you know, there's a lot of building rules and
all that sort of stuff. So at the moment we are,
I'm thinking that we just put a I'm hearing enough
at stumbly and mumbley. You're not talking to King Carle. Sorry,
we're talking about vings, mate, take a breakth It's okay.
(27:46):
You're not going to get thrown through a windows. I'm
not worrying, don I'm just letting you know.
Speaker 11 (27:57):
I know it's going to be fine as long as
we have enough freezer space. That is my issue with
my concern the listeners. Don't ever come on this show
and also close that curtain. The worst bet of the
Wizard of Ozma because we see that knacked old man
behind the curtain. Keep that curtain to now shut. I say, oh,
by apologies, sorry, I was actually checking for a legitimate
curtain behind me.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Now realized that was anywess doesn't matter. What I'm saying
is we're getting good. Are we going to have these
Vanessa's one thousand, five hundred and twelve. Absolutely? My genuine
question is how how are we getting these out there?
One thousand listeners? She's going to write no, no, no, no,
okay about that.
Speaker 11 (28:37):
Yes, if there's anyone that does have a fair caurier
business as well, that would be absolutely spared.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
He's got a career business. I'm easiness one of the moment.
It's gotta spare one who's got a side hustle. Sorry,
delivering frozen goods. I'm not to freezer trucks back. You know.
I woke up at three in this morning went wait,
oh my god, I just remember this company I work for.
If they can save a butt, they will. They're not
(29:03):
expecting the people to come in and get their own
viewettas are they. We can work these things out. I've
ruined my birthday Australian Radio. It's my first big project.
You've given me an carry a last one if you
have any more freathless place at the office the office managers. Well, yeah,
(29:24):
so I can say I did us somewhere right now
in Sydney in a very very very very very very
very large house. King Karl has his feet up right now,
smoking a big old cigar, laughing, going he's your problem now, Christian,
he's your problem now. Bye bye Pete, Okay, goodbye.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Christian Connell Show Podcast.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
So the big news on the show's birthday, turning eight
years this Thursday. It would come when we start the
show Thursday, Show one five hundred and twelve. We're giving
for each show a Vionnette Away one five hundred and
twelve Viennetta's and obviously a huge amount. That's more than
any massive supermarket would have. I'm only having the average
(30:07):
freezer there twenty Is.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
It more than seconds we have on the show that show?
I wonder if it actually there's I don't know if there's.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Actually literally enough time to give it away.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Well, here's what I'm thinking. We start the giveaway bang
straight away six am on Thursday. Okay, that's the show.
We turn eight, and then by the end of the
show Friday, they all must have gone.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Yes, because we can't keep them.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
We've got to start shipping them out. Christian, maybe Intern
Peint could hire a mobile call room on wheels for
the via nettas he's going to need more than one.
I mean, I don't know how actually can stor in there.
A lot of you have got various options. I tell
you what would really help as well is some of
you in your garages will have the big deep freeze.
Is there any way is there any room in there
(30:51):
if you shove down maybe some of the meats you
got in there, maybe you want to meet trail something
squish it aside. Can you just free up some room
for intern Pete to drop up some Vinettas around yours.
Speaker 7 (31:00):
And are you okay with random strangers coming into your
freezer and retrieving them if they do win them throughout?
Speaker 1 (31:06):
If that's a tick to all of those please And
also you know not everywhere in Australia is warm. Do
we have listeners who live up mountains?
Speaker 7 (31:15):
It's chili up there, that's true, you know any our
highest listener, yes, store.
Speaker 1 (31:22):
If you live in a chili part of Australia? Can
we store some Viennettas there?
Speaker 3 (31:27):
Christian o'connells show podcast.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Radio as biggest ever giveaway begins six am this Thursday
on the show one thousand, five hundred and twelve Viennettas
to mark one thousand, five hundred and twelve shows this
Thursday as the show turns eight. We have some small
issues just in terms of how do you store a
enormous amount of vignettas. I mean even in supermarkets, how
(31:53):
big they are, the resources they have, coals and woodies
and stuff like that. I'm gonna actually go and check
out my local ones today. How many are they storing
it in a freeze? I reckon ten twenty thirty we.
Speaker 4 (32:04):
Need quite a few suburbs of coals to fit this.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Yes, Christian, Vinetta is my husband. One of my our
wedding cake. We get one every lover. Hey, it's fancy.
It's still fancy, my friend. It must be Vanetta Christian.
It was our wedding anniverse. We sorry, it was our
wedding cake. We get one every year on our anniversary.
(32:28):
Can we put down the first pid? Don't forget you
can't just have one? No, no, no, no no Christian
wants no, no, no no. The rules are apparently I
don't know who signed off on this. Everyone must have
at least five.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
You're having five weddings with five VANETI Christian.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
What you need is an ice drink. Get on the
phone page. Their words, not mine.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
Well, there's Disney on ice.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
We've actually got tickets for them at time was stuff
maybe donald.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Also those costumes during the day, the big heads, and
that they're not being you shove some Vonetta's in them
as well. Also, has anyone got any room and warehouses a.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
Really cold warehouse or a farm a cold farm?
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Yeah, you know, you know the cold farms, but they
store the milk in the cows. I don't know that. Yeah,
Will Good morning. Will good, Chris, I'm good. Now, Well
you might be able to look after a couple of
a couple of Vianetta's for us.
Speaker 12 (33:26):
Yeah, I want to freezer aft you a couple of
years ago on your show, and it's sitting mostly empty
at the moment, so I could probably take a fee
for you.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Brilliant. This is remember giving away?
Speaker 4 (33:38):
Do I freeze?
Speaker 1 (33:40):
What was the competition?
Speaker 12 (33:43):
I was the Father's day thing where I had to
guess who was saying what? And I'm a staff fader.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Shut shut sure, wow we I mean nothing says being
a father like a freezer.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
It sounds like you.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
It sounds like there's always the thing you think about
what we dons it. I know we'd love a new
chest freezer. He just hit that guy. He loves a freezer.
The other big news today is we get away a
freezer from fathers. Hey listen, I didn't say it's been
a great eight years. I just said it's been eight years. Yes,
Well we'll take you up on that. Let's go to
Ian now morning Ian. Yes, Christian Ian, how can you
(34:23):
can can we store some Vanettas around at yours?
Speaker 12 (34:26):
Well, I've got one, Benefitia, I've got a forty year
old chess freezer. Probably a little bit over hip hip.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Sitting at home, my pitching, not doing a damn thing,
but sitting there it doesn't get used.
Speaker 12 (34:36):
You're more than logen. They come pick it up and
have it.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Milky human kindness right now, this is a lot of
actually just hearing all these offices or chest freezer space.
Ian will take you up on that.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Thank you. The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Christian, I currently have my daughter and three kids squeezed
living with us. We're in Sydney. We have a deep
freeze in my Garantee can definitely fit in five Viennetta's
and if you more, if needed, we would definitely smash
all five over the weekend. Shelly, I'm putting you at
the top of the Vnetta weight list. Christian. We are
(35:16):
moving from freezing cold Victoria to sunny Queensland. The only
problem is the kids eat ice cream like it's bread.
Now I'm happy to take fifty Vinetta's, which will only
get us through fourteen days. Dom, I'm adding you to
the Vnetta weightlist. So good news everybody. The World Cup
is less than two weeks away. A week Friday when
(35:39):
we begin the breakfast show. A week Friday, the World
Cup would have actually begun the opening game, Mexico's opening game,
the Azteca opening game would have happened. Then a week
Sunday SOCCERUS begin their big World Cup campaign taken on Turkey.
That is the one of the few games that's actually
a daylight time. That one's at two in the afternoon.
Don't get too used to it though. Over the weekend
(36:00):
I heard as people now are getting more and more excited.
Obviously the soccer who's played yesterdaygainst Mexico. Don't worry about
that loss four years ago. By the way, everyone was
getting very upset about Graham arnold lack last year performances.
Running into the World Cup. You had one of your
best World Cups. Ever, it doesn't say too much. It's
the team just getting used to each other now. Leads
me to a challenge that I have for you real
(36:22):
over the weekend. Obviously, I'm a big soccer fan and
I love the World Cup. It's a chance for Australia
to get around each other. You imagine a couple of
years ago, do you imagine the joy that we had
getting around the runaway joy that was the gravy train
that we all jumped on with the matildas. The soccer
hos are representing this country and in this country, sport
is actually a chance of division. If you're in Victoria,
(36:44):
we don't care about anyone else. When you're in New
South World, we don't want to hear about the AFL
as a Victorian sport. It divides more than it brings together.
But the thing about things like the Olympics and also
the World Cup is that it brings Australia together. And
so whether you're not you're a big soccer fan, or
you don't even like a sport with a ball shaped
like that, it doesn't matter. Australia playing it's the biggest
(37:06):
game in the world. Getting around the soccer use it's
like you're being invited to the world's biggest party for
the next couple of weeks. What's it going to be
like in America. I don't know. Let's grab a bucket
of popcorn and see it all unfold. But all the
countries are getting very, very excited. They work really hard
to qualify and Bosnia released over the weekend their World
(37:27):
Cup song It is a Banger.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Him from.
Speaker 1 (37:35):
Say you guys, get back in sho you know, take
me to United States? Bang all weekends this slap you
want to you want to stab your feet a bit,
don't you? This is amazing. How could they not run
(37:58):
out there and do the best they care for their
homeland when they've just been smashing this on repeat in
the changing rooms.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
I suddenly feel so proud to be from Bosnia, even
though I'm not from.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Eurovision. Hey, alex is that evented this song in Eurovision Colorisco?
Bosnia would have won this song very literal.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Yeah, I'm going to America.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
But where is our anthem? We have nothing? But come
on now.
Speaker 10 (38:34):
Are you?
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Are you a proud Australian?
Speaker 10 (38:38):
Are you.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Going to wait? Already? Is started to music is coming
through you? Who is our music man on this show? Teane?
Who is it? Pointed the music man that show rio chuckle, sisters,
who is it?
Speaker 10 (38:56):
Yo?
Speaker 1 (38:58):
That's enough of me, He goes to that.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Okay, I do love people.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
The moment that there's nothing Bosnia already, and if.
Speaker 7 (39:06):
We come up against Bosnia in the next round and
we're running out to this and we're running out to nothing.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
A chair on those little tiny Bluetooth speakers on JB
High Fight, otherwise it'll be Ozzy. We need our version.
The team needs a song. We need a song to
play as we're watching it and cheering on the soccerws
over there in America, Mexico and Canada for their campaign.
(39:33):
You have until next Wednesday. Next Wednesday on World Cup Wednesday,
the world first play of your song for the soccer ups.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
Bring it on Bosnia.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
Yes, the Christian O'Connell Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
That Thursday, the show turns eight years of age and
we are celebrating that by giving away one thousand, five
hundred and twelve Viennetta's why you ask, because we will
come when we start the show Thursday. We will start
show one thousand, five hundred and twelve. Still not enough
and justification doesn't matter. This is the one of the
when you get your own radio show, you can make
(40:10):
up as you go along. You know, literally, you're in
a meeting one d only say get one thousand and
five old Vinettas and suddenly someone our intern beat has
to actually make that happen. Christian and Gangs. My dad's
eighty third birthday and we couldn't get to see him
last Thursday at the nursing home. They had a rhinovirus breakout.
I hope everyone's okay. I'm sure the nursing home is
(40:30):
space and the freezer. They have one hundred people in
their nursing home. Oldies would love. They will smash at
least five Sonya. Yes, we give you someone anty to
the Vinetta wait list. Christian, I'd happily take our fire
and vive Viennettas. I'm turning seventy on the eighth of June.
I'm having a big seventieth birthday party. I'm sure my
guests and I could easily take five Viennettas on the day. Christian,
(40:53):
thank you for talking World Cup and gold. I love
the realnd ball. By the way, can I have three
Viennettas that This Viennetta weight list is getting bigger and bigger?
Speaker 4 (41:01):
All right, sorry, you have to take five? You cannot
just take sorry?
Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah, yeah, if you wonder what bloody people have been
a bit greedy? He is joining us. Are you have
to have five? I guess otherwise we're going to be
here for the rest of the year. Exactly, Knee deep
in listeners, donations of freezers to store the Vianetta's. It's
just another miss Herdman day, Christian O'Connell's miss hurd lyrics.
All right, miss hurd lyrics, you do this every Monday
(41:26):
on the show. We pay back your mishurd lyrics if
we agree what you think you're miss hearing, You're here
this if we don't hear it. And for the really
great ones, Hall of Favor. Last week we had Hall
of Famous from listener Steph Dance with me my chop
tops in the parking lot, and then one of you
(41:46):
was hearing one of the world's top performance coaches, Ben
Crow's name mentioned in this song. Comes straight for the
Yessa Crows, going straight for the assets. All right, brand
new Miss hurd lyrics. Let's here, We've got Maggie's been
listening to bon joviing living on a prayer. Baby, It's
okay someday classic line. Or is someone in John's crew
(42:14):
a little bit salty? Baby? It's okay salty. The way
(42:34):
he's saying that is the way he used to wind
up a brother's sister. All right salty. Ah, Yes, Maggie,
we like that one. Cam's got uptown girl, Billy Joe.
She'll see I'm not so tough, or is it she'll
see I'm not so tall.
Speaker 4 (42:57):
And he is little, isn't he he is?
Speaker 1 (42:59):
I remember many years ago, it was like two thousand,
I went to see John Stewart do stand up live
and he was talking about this short lived show he
did an MTV and he made a joke about Bill
Joeld Joe. The next days when he had a bit
of a temp problem, came to the offices to find
John and obviously, because he's Billy Joel, MTV just let
him in up to John's office without warning John. Suddenly,
(43:20):
Billy Joel gets out of this, comes up to John,
got scared and there's he said, John's not tall. They said,
two little guys. One was chasing another one round round
an office. Thank you, Cam, We love that one, Thank
you very much. Gerrard's got think Aretha Franklin. Let your
mind go, let yourself be free? Is the original line?
(43:42):
Or is it Veggie might gonna let yourself be free?
It is there, Wow, Veggie might gonna let yourself be free? Now,
because that's Australia, it's the law we have to favor.
It's actually on Australia they take the passport off me.
If I didn't do that, Ni Carl's been listening to
(44:03):
Ed Sheering beautiful people Lamborghinis and they're rented hummers lamb
hummers or is it Lamborghini's and they're eating hummus? How
have you got to return this? It's only a loan
for a day or two. Hard to get that oily
little dip out Lamborghinis and they're eating hummers Lamborghini hummon? Yeah,
(44:26):
when Nicole world up all favor him has got this?
Imagine Dragon's bad liar, I'm a bad liar? Or is
he Dracula? Is he a vampire? Vampires? And we're in
a roll. Steven's got another spotting of France, the French
(44:49):
in a song. This Tomas the Food Fighters singing about
the French monkey Wrench food Fighters is the original line,
What did you when all your enemies are friends? Your
enemies are friend? Or is it what do you do
when all your enemies are French?
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Fred?
Speaker 1 (45:10):
Yeah? Yes? And of course Michael Botton two weeks ago,
how can we be lovers if we can't beat France?
Can we keep the street going? We know your enemies
are Fred? I hope so as always, whenever you miss
(45:32):
hey lyrics, email me. Thank you very much everyon who
installed us this every single day. Christian at Christian O'Connell
dot com dot au. Stay with us. You're going to
hear a pub get five thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
Next Christian Connell Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
Good Morning, save our pub. This is the big week
we've been looking forward to because this week five pubs
getting five thousand dollars each. Kelly, good news. You're one
of the winners.
Speaker 7 (45:57):
Are you serious?
Speaker 1 (45:58):
I am serious. It's not even open yet. You need
the five thousand dollars you've got. Your goal is to
be ready for Christmas. People coming home for Christmas to
have a drink at your place. You really need the
five thound and dollars. You're deserved winners.
Speaker 13 (46:10):
Oh, thank you so much, Christian and all the team
at Gold and four X. This is the actually the
first bit of money that has come in. Everything else
has just.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
Been like, yeah, a money pet. You brought a pub
that's a money pit. So happy that you've got some
money coming in before you open fingers crossed at the
end of the year.
Speaker 13 (46:31):
Yeah, that'll be so fantastic. We'll have to give the
cup cleaning mold guys a call and tell them the
good news.
Speaker 1 (46:37):
Made that the next call once you told the husband
some good news. Some money is coming in. And I
don't know if you heard. We had a lot of
messages of support for what you and your husband are
taken on and trying to give the community what they
really need. And all communities need is a place for
us to gather and get together, which is this great
pub And so I really hope someone offered to build
your website for free. Did you hear about that?
Speaker 2 (46:58):
I did hear about that. That's fantastic news.
Speaker 13 (47:01):
It's been fantastic've had quite a few messages of people
offering support and help since it went out on the
on the station. It's been so good, Like we've got
a lot of local support, so it's nice to get
the word out so much, far further and wider as well.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
So we just need to get you a free roof.
Can we go a marketplace? Is anyone selling an old
roof they don't need anymore?
Speaker 2 (47:22):
I think I'm selling an old roof.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
No, not a shit old roof they don't need anymore.
Speaker 13 (47:27):
They've actually got a batton over the top of the
roof because it's got spray on insulation that sticks the
sheets to the batons, which is fantastically difficult for them.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
Wonderful you can probably when you open, that can be
like a feature basically, you know, make that a thing
you're known for. I mean, come for the food and hospitality,
but really stay for the baton down roof.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
Yeah exactly. Yeah, Well we're hoping it'll be a bit
more than that.
Speaker 13 (47:52):
It opens out onto the Grandbridge railchowel, which is absolutely
beautiful little thirteen k railower. Oh wow, like e bikes operating.
See can book your lunch and a beer and an
ee bike and just really enjoy.
Speaker 1 (48:04):
That's a great idea. This is stunning way you guys are.
That is a beautiful of Victoria. It's beautiful there.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
Yeah, it's amazing.
Speaker 13 (48:12):
Every way, every single road you drive into the town
is just that rolling dairy country.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
It's gorgeous. What needs a good.
Speaker 1 (48:19):
And what we really want to do is over the
next couple of months, if there's any extra help you need,
you need the show, support me to get the word
out about anything you do. I really want to track
how you guys are doing. I really would love to
help you be open for Christmas. I think it's a
great goal to have that.
