Speaker 3 (01:00):
A Christian O'Connell Show podcast.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
Morning Rio, Good morning, Good morning, Patsy Morning.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Yesterday afternoon, I watched back the World Cup final. We
had it on during the show yesterday and the most
important thing for me was just checking that Argentina didn't win.
And I watched it back yesterday and actually was horrified
and we could see it in the background. But obviously
we're doing the show just how badly behaved the Argentinian
team were too, losing literally like a load of brats.
(01:30):
I've never fighting. One of the coaches punched one of
the Spanish players. You cannot do that. Another one went
for it.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
You cannot do that, said coaches should not come on.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
It's not I mean in Australia that behavior is encouraged.
But on the home of the world's great game, the
beautiful game of soccer, it was a really bad look.
Speaker 5 (01:49):
Right at the end of the biggest event in the history.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
And it's been such a lovely I think it's been
a great spirit of bringing the world together. One hundred
and four games countries we've never heard of before, you know,
playing there as well, like Capo Verde whate an amazing moment
for them, almost producing a big upset. I think. I
thought it was a spectacular World Cup and I thought
all the host nations did a great job. But that
I've never seen a team behave so badly. Someone's got loose.
(02:15):
Was because you got the world's greatest player ever, doesn't
mean you have to win it.
Speaker 5 (02:19):
It was the least graceful.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
After the whistle and then a Spanish guy's going to
celebrate and this little Argentinian guy sucks him in the spanis.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
It was wild. And then I also watched the halftime show.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
I gotta talk about that now.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
I love Chris Martin. Have interviewed Chris Martin lots of times. However,
I found out he was the boss of it. They
hired Chris to put it all together. It had a
whiff of Chris Martin fingerprints, cold Play video, the the Madonna,
the car, and the two Ronnies. Ronaldo and Ronardino just
stood around awkwardly pretend to be sort of doing side
(02:56):
to side dancing in the car. One of the most
cringe worthy. But I couldn't stop watching it.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
It was like they'd never stood before it.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
They didn't like they hadn't rehearsed a bit where they
stand there where put our hands and put them in
our tracking dap pants the pockets.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
And instead of making some sort of decision, they just said, no,
We're just going to stand their arms by our side
and not move for ten seconds.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
It was so I've never seen such an odd The
whole thing was like a feverish dream.
Speaker 6 (03:24):
Because it was so jarring as well, because it goes
from Madonna into K Pop into the ten Lasso skits.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
What an absolute shocker. And then of course you know
Infantina had somehow managed to be out all one hundred
and four games. He seemed to materialize himself at every game,
whatever game I was watching, he was there. Whether he's
in Canada, America, I don't know how he what private
jet he had, he was actually all the games. But
(03:53):
fair playing to him. Also white trainers with a blue
suit as well as a strange from that age anyway,
him trying to get Trump off the stage to let
Spain have their moment and Trump go, I'm hanging out
with my new besties. Now. I love foreign people, people
absolutely love them was incredible.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
The Christian O'Connell show podcast.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
Anyone else listened to that last break? Get the impression
Pats was unaware there was a World Cup final?
Speaker 5 (04:19):
Get off it. I knew there was about it.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Oh yeah, Larry, Larry Messi was playing. Yeah, Tina made it,
did they that young boy? This happened when don't care much.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
For the soccer.
Speaker 7 (04:36):
Oh yeah, so shoot me down. Highlight for me was
tied less introducing Justin Bieber yesterday.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Four games to get to that, every team trying to
get in that World Cup final, not to watch Bibra.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
And why did he do the World's slower song?
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Clearly, clearly it looked like he'd been thrown together that morning. Yes, yes,
first dress, like just tell what and hey, Chris Martin,
you've got anything ready?
Speaker 5 (05:09):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Wait? No, no, no, I haven't got to get I
thought you guys were doing it and I was just
doing a minute. No, no, no, no, you need to get
on the phones. Man, But all I've got is a
crappy old guitar. I'm not very good with it. Don't worry.
Great run out of the two Ronnies, right out down, Ryandino.
Can you just get in your tracksuits? And this to
pretend to be in a toy car that the Wiggles
would like hang out in.
Speaker 5 (05:30):
And they played seven Nation Army not with white stripes.
The Muppets, the Muppet.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
No, the Muppets were the highlight for me.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
No, the Muppets was like a last and proper entertainment here.
They should have just done a half hour Muppet show.
Actually it kind of was a half our Muppet show.
Quest when you played Eelo this morning listening to the
words I swear there singing don't ring bring me down, Bruce.
I hope you hear this well. I think we've had
this on the Mishard lyrics before. It does sound like
(05:59):
out there just sounds exactly what they're saying, don't bring
me down, Bruce. But actually they're supposed to be saying,
don't bring me down, Bruce. Oh. It was just a
word Jeff Lynn made up in the studio and a
German engineer said, oh, right, do you mean that because
there's a German word it means greetings, and he going no, no,
I just I wasn't well what I said, but it
just stays in the song. Now everyone just think it
(06:19):
does sound like Bruce, don't bring me down, Bruce. Barnamy
Joyce is producing the show today is quite straight to
the studio here amazing one, amazing. See all right, here's
how we go. I want to try this morning as an experiment.
Yesterday I was being interviewed. The guy asked me, what
(06:40):
do you think the audience are up to while you're
doing the show. I said, I'll presumely getting ready for work,
but I thought, hang them, actually not everyone is going
to be getting They're not all getting ready for work.
There'd be people right now at work. There'd be people
on the way home who've done an overnight shift who
are going home. There'd be people who are lying in
bed trying to get the energy together to get out
(07:01):
of bed. There'd be families right now, probably having a
quite that quiet cup of tea or coffee in the morning,
staring into the void before all they have to go
and deal with the school run, getting the kids up.
There'd been so many different things that people being up
to right now. I want to know exactly what are
you doing right now? So if you were to take
a polaroid photo, what would we see? What are you
(07:22):
doing right now?
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Christian O'Connell Show podcast, So.

means you're playing with the dog and they've got a
chew toy, not the you know. I don't know, Christian,
(08:30):

more importantly, what I was wearing. And they were like,
(17:38):
oh my god, what are those trousers you're wearing? That
that are baggy with pockets around and air went hey, kids,
cargo pants and they were cool, Jim and cargo pants
for guys.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
Three quarter pants were really in follow the knee.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Yeah, those pockets just below the knee deep, so deep
to riach for you. You know how most fashion comes
back around. I'm not sure cargo pants will ever come
back around. Can you ever see cargo pants coming back around?
Speaker 5 (18:05):
But I do like the idea of the chain wallet
coming back.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
I wish I used to love that look. Now it's
normally on a middle aged guy who's got a skateboard
or an e scooter and he's clearly going through a
marriage breakup. When I see a guy like that, I
want to hugu him and go, hey, let's talk about though, Yeah,
let's talk about the chain.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
My friend It's going to be okay.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
Thank you very much for joining us. Brilliant email about
the World Cup and that halftime show from listener Dean.
This he makes a very very important point. Hi, Christian,
I feel compelled, as an Australian citizen and defender of
our cultural heritage to point out the recent World Cup
(18:48):
entertainment featuring Madonna riveing in spectacular fashion was hardly groundbreaking.
Excuse me, the world seems to think that they've invented
grand sporting theater. Excuse me Australia calling. May I respectfully
direct everyone's attention to the true pioneer of oversized sporting entrances.
(19:08):
Angry Anderson nineteen ninety one AFL Grand Final, The Batmobile.
Oh yeah, do you remember this?
Speaker 8 (19:16):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (19:17):
What a moment. And you know what, Dean, You're right
to defend that, as you said, cultural heritage, it should
be hanging a bit of hanging in a gilt edge
frame in the louver. Angry Anderson nineteen ninety one AFL
Grand Final, The Batmobile, thirty five years before the World
Cup decided to wheel a global superstar into a stadium.
(19:40):
We had Angry belting out bound for glory while emerging
while emerging like Batman's company car after a rough night out. Original,
absolutely subtle, not even wrongly forget Madonna. Shimidi followed the
blueprint established by a bald Australian rocker in leather standing
blue batmobile in front of seventy five thousand slightly confused
(20:03):
football fans. As we say down here, Christian, if you're
going to buy an idea, at least knowledge the inventors
cultural appropriation out of time. Absolutely, Christian, you want to
hear that the show is prepared to recognize Australia's rightful
place for the birthplace of spectacular, over the top sporting
entertainment crime regards. Dean, a proud Australian defender of the
(20:25):
Batman Bill legacy. Dean, we salute you and Angry Anderson.
You know they really should have just had some kind
of nod to the groundbreaking work done by Australia, and
I'd forgotten about that high water mark in Australian culture.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Dean, thank you very much for you're important reminder.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
All right, the Bin Infantry Army needs your bins to
help promote the word of the bright side. The die.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
We just need your bin.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
We'll send you a ben sticker. This is the big
marketing this show is getting At the moment I get
about the billboards. Every single radio show is spending on
the billboards in Sydney and Melbourne.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
We just need your bin.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
It becomes a bit more to promote the bright side
of the dial. Now, yesterday the team were getting very
excited because they reckon that there's a lot of if
you live around the corner or you have a famous
person and I'm fame these days is a greasy, old
sliding scale, isn't it. It's never been looser the definition
(21:29):
of fame. But if you do live near someone who
is famous, you all know about that. Everyone in the
suburb knows. That means it's a significant bin. Bins of
the famous is what we must concern ourselves with right now, Patsch,
you have been of famous people around your way.
Speaker 7 (21:48):
Doesn't get much more famous than mine. This man was
a child star who Elvis asked to meet and toured
with Liberaci back in the day. And I'm talking about
Jamie Redfern, former member of Young Talent Time Elver.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
He's got on Elvis connection.
Speaker 7 (22:04):
Yeah, I all know that he was huge in the seventies.
Elvis actually asked to me him when he came through Vegas.
He was so famous, Jamie and leaves around the corner
from me. I often see him at Woolli's.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Do you have you ever said hello? No, I haven't
on he must know he lives around a corner from
Golden news reader Petrina too.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
I don't think it even know who on.
Speaker 1 (22:28):
Come on now, don't be a koy kitten. It's not
becoming of you.
Speaker 7 (22:33):
The girls at the Woolies DELI know who I am.
But that's about it, I think. But yeah, Jamie, you
see him out the front mow and his lawns.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
First, you've done a drive by several times mowing his lawns. Yeah,
if you're driving by slowly salivating.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
That, how's that?
Speaker 9 (22:47):
He?
Speaker 7 (22:47):
He was just around the corner. He toured with LIBERI
toured with Liberamy yet around the world.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
I know he was massive in that he fell about
drop knocking on his door this week and ask him
would he put a bend stickle.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
You're not good?
Speaker 5 (23:01):
Not good?
Speaker 1 (23:02):
I wonder you care for the show.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
I might when on walking the dog, maybe like put
it on myself. But I wouldn't actually not on.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
His that's the worst. That's actually trespasses. That's far worse.
You can't get those stickers off. You cannot get the
stickers off. I get in trouble because obviously put the momonbians.
But we moved house and the new people they didn't
want that sticker on there.
Speaker 5 (23:24):
They want no connection.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
You can't get them off. They're on there for life.
Speaker 5 (23:32):
It comes with the house.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Even if you stop listening to the show.
Speaker 5 (23:35):
It's a life sentence.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Now, Team Particikatling and intern Pete. You know some famous
people near you, guys that you could put maybe ask
them if they put a sticker on their beins.
Speaker 10 (23:45):
I reckon I can actually get Oh my.
Speaker 1 (23:47):
God, hang on the way crossing live to the International
Space Station spaage on nine.
Speaker 10 (23:54):
How does this sound? Does it sound weird?
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Well, you're six feet away and you sound like six
thousand miles away in space.
Speaker 10 (24:00):
Okay, what about here? Is that better mic technique?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
No? No, you sound like you're about to do a
jet style the safety.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Coming to live.
Speaker 10 (24:09):
Ah, So the famous bin it was in my own Where.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Did we get this JB high find microphone from?
Speaker 10 (24:15):
It was in my old suburb. Does it sound that bad?
Do I need to come in studio?
Speaker 4 (24:20):
No?
Speaker 1 (24:20):
No, I'd rather you have be on a terrible microphone
that sounds comediateally bad than step into the studio.
Speaker 10 (24:30):
All right, all right, So where I used to live
in Melbourne? Piare Miranda?
Speaker 1 (24:36):
And I don't she lovely? She's so nice?
Speaker 10 (24:39):
She won Survivor, But previously.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
She toured with Elvis? Didn't She probably went out with
Liberaci plot.
Speaker 10 (24:46):
Twist, famous for looking for Ala Brandy. So yeah, I
can sort that out. I can get that done. I'm
not a woos like Patsy.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
In term people you are. You are very connected to showbiz.
You must know several bins.
Speaker 9 (25:02):
Yeah, do love a bit of showbies and a bit
of a flex for this one. And I've always wanted
to name drop this person, super famous director movies like
The Great Gatsby, Elvis Basman around the corner from me,
what's the big Pearly Gates in Sydney, Australia, Baz Luhrmann
And I feel he needs a beIN sticker.
Speaker 5 (25:23):
Have you ever been over because I've heard that he
throws amazing house.
Speaker 1 (25:27):
You can imagine, can't you see that? He's a very
extravagantly dressed man, isn't he. He's got a really great
iconic look about him. He's never just in trackie dacks,
I reckon when it's bend. He's coming out in some
amazing like sparkly jumpsuit when he goes down Bunnings, for sure.
Speaker 9 (25:44):
So yeah, I mean I I can imagine he would
want a bin sticker almost.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Just a classic guy like he'd love a Ben Sticker.
Speaker 9 (25:51):
God, we could even make a bin sticker suit for
him if he really I guess right.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
All right, So team, if we're asking our listeners to
corden this morning and tell us do you live near
someone famous? I need you guys, Caitlin and Pete, will
you go and ask those two Pia and also Basa
if they will they put stickers on their bins.
Speaker 10 (26:11):
Absolutely absolutely immediately down that microphone.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
I can't get enough for it. I won't to ever
go in a minute. It's just like so much fun.
We should get away. It's a price. You can speak
to us. Come and watch the show and speak to
us for a really bad microphone. Amazing Christian Color Show podcast.
You can join our Beinfantry Army on the bright side.
Ben battalion. We need your bins. We have ben stickers
(26:36):
to promote the bright Southern Dial. That's what we call
this show. Can we have your bins as part of
our campaign in Sydney and Melbourne? If you live near
someone famous and you'll know if you do. Everyone always
talks about it, don't they? You tell people, don't you? Oh?
Someone said is one it's a flex You somehow think
that you're connected to them just by pure luck they
(26:59):
live around the corner. We need to know about it
as well, because, like I said, everyone knows the famous
person's house, so really they're going to be doing a
lot of drive by is that house? Like Patsy going
around around around constantly going well Tuesday is normally when
he cuts his is grass that tight white T shirt
and it's Budgie Smugglers. So really it's a high profile bin.
(27:24):
We need to speak to these celebrities. So do you
live near someone famous? Have you got fame in your suburb?
Thirteen fifty five twenty two. Good morning, Melissa, Good morning,
how are we king? I'm good Melissa. Welcome to the show. Now, Melissa,
who do you live.
Speaker 8 (27:39):
Near Jim's from Jim Mowing?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Wow, we've just landed the Great White Can I.
Speaker 6 (27:51):
Just say I didn't know he was a real person.
Might have been McDonald's situation.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
No, no, no, no, he's real real.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
There's an actual gym, yes, yes, and that is so busy.
He's got.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
Stay in state. Yeah. Wow, that's not just that he's
washing all those dogs as well. There's no downtime. It's
the hardest walking man in the world.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
There's a real gym, that is it, Jim.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
Anyway, and listen, that's a great one.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Stay there.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
We were sending some stickers.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Thank you very much for calling as good at Ash
Now morning Ash, Hey.
Speaker 11 (28:28):
Good morning Christian. The crew he's doing today.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
We're good. Welcome to the show. Thanksgiving us a go. Now,
who lives near you?
Speaker 11 (28:34):
That's famous Ash, I live to four time Premiership in
a role winning coach Ivan Cleary. He actually lives in
my street.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Wow, that's a bit closer than round the corner. This
is this is big time. He's a very successful coach.
So direct. Do you know him? Have you ever said hello?
Speaker 11 (28:50):
No, I don't know him. Occasionally I've seen walking around
in the Pean River. Yeah, but yeah, he's a pretty
busy man. Coaching Steve. He's in a roll team there.
But yeah, now I really see him.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
So can I make a suggestion on behalf of the
show as an icebreaker? You're knock on this guy's door,
and he said, listen, you're a busy guy. You haven't
got time to put your bins out, Jim. I'm happy
to put your bins out on the correct day. All
I need is this a side of this bin where
I could advertise a breakfast show that you might like it.
She's in his mid fifties. We played the kind of
music that fifty year old men like.
Speaker 11 (29:22):
He's the same why you'd be a bit younger than me,
But yeah, I reckon. He probably listens to your show anyway, mate,
he doesn't need any committing Okay, all right.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Well listen if we send you some I send you
some stickers to your bins, begin with anyway.
Speaker 11 (29:32):
Ah yes, And I'll try and get a photo of
him putting stickers on his beanis please.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Do please do HeSE do. That's great. Thank you very much, Ash,
you made us a day and you.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
Take care and Christian O'Connell show go on podcast.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
What are the signs you suddenly realize you're now an
adult Christian. My name is money. I've listened to you
since twenty twenty and twenty four. When I first got
my license, I had you all on. I was told
listening to Gold now makes you an adult. It's the
station for grown ups. You know, if you're a child,
(30:08):
then you've got over. You know Christian signs and now
you get over excited about visiting a coals or Woolies.
That isn't your normal one. Oh my god, that's so
true when you're on holiday. Oh, they have the aisles
here like this, they have selections that we don't in
my one, extra extra excited if it's been recently refurbished
(30:31):
as well. Oh my god, Kate, that is such a
brilliant one. So pertas you will be saying, Mary, No,
I was just going.
Speaker 7 (30:35):
To say, every time we go to Hamilton Island, the
favorite part for our teenager is the IgA there.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
I know.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
It's the same with my daughters when we go away anywhere.
They want to go to a local ida to go
and get your holiday snacks.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
We've got different stuff.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Yes, that's it. Yes, there's a great Katie. The joy
you get from using a ben shoot. They should have
them in amusement parts. Sometime have further the grown ups
brad the joy of using a slow cooker. I felt
so bad. I still use you're the air fryer. Everyone
was all involved in air frys. I still have the
(31:12):
air fryer. But I feel so bad now because I've
returned to my true original love, the slow cooker. Wondering. Yeah,
I got I just got bedazzled by something else. Aaron
got gifted a mop for my birthday. I was happy
about that. Emma Christian. I've started moisturizing my elbows and
(31:33):
kneeds now. Right, there's a certain age where you have
to do that. You get dry elbows.
Speaker 5 (31:40):
You never buy hand cream as a sixteen year old.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
Oh you don't do it.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
No, no, no, no, that's a game for grown ups.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
You have a lot more lotions and potions. The older
you get, the size of the medicine cabinet this gets bigger.
There's things to keep you lubricated. And just now, I
have a drawer in the kitchen my wife and I
do for all of various vitamins, a whole drawer. I'm
we're getting on fictional. Can you get some more?
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Have you had my nighttime magnesium.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
All right, signs you an adult. You have very strong
opinions on mattress and pillow firmness. I checked into the
Airbnb Sunday. The first idea is sit on that bed.
Oh no, no, no, it's a soggy one. I've been
paying a price for this. I already booked in to
see my chiropractic.
Speaker 5 (32:28):
The older you get, the firmer, the.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
Just been sleeping on the floor within years.
Speaker 5 (32:34):
Caitlin and I. So we're staying in a hotel.
Speaker 6 (32:37):
We made a special trip downstairs to the lobby to
see if we could get a thinner pillow because we're
worried our next would be at too sharp of an
angle for our sleep, and so we did.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
They gave us.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
I didn't know it's an option because you could ask
for thinner pillows.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
Said hotels, there is a pillow menu.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
I think I'm very close to taking my beloved spinally's
pillow when I leave home. Now I miss it. And also,
there's nothing worse from a pillow. There's barely a pillow,
you know, it's all it's all just lost its pillows.
Speaker 5 (33:06):
As soon as you put your head on it, just it's.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Like it's like marshmallow, Patty, what's if you sign you're
an adult?
Speaker 7 (33:15):
Does this make me old and an adult that I
still use iron aid in which to you know, like
fabulon and the like to iron?
Speaker 1 (33:22):
No, no, I still use that as well, Patsy. Yeah,
now I use it for whenever i'm mining a shirt.
You're right, it's got to reassuring smell to it.
Speaker 7 (33:32):
Love we sent I've got my fish.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
I always smelled like it. It smells like I imagine
I'm running a dry cleaners. It has that smell. Now
I'm the same. I still use that.
Speaker 7 (33:41):
I'm not sure if people are because I had to
go to three supermarkets yesterday to find the stuff.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Do you think people aren't using it anything?
Speaker 7 (33:47):
I don't think people are using it.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
The young generation these days, they don't mind that. They
don't want to starchy, well pressed iron shirts.
Speaker 7 (33:55):
Aout out ironing.
Speaker 6 (33:56):
I've never heard of it as someone from a younger generation.
I've never heard of iron.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
But would you iron a shirt? Yes you would? What
would you use?
Speaker 5 (34:05):
Just the iron?
Speaker 10 (34:06):
No?
Speaker 6 (34:08):
Done?
Speaker 5 (34:09):
And the iron's got the little squirt.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
No simply water no no, no, no spray stars. Get
a nice starchy collar, young man, wouldn't make it too.
I want it, cris I want it, Crisp. I want
it like I'm in a wall of Wall Street. Yes,
I want it, Crisp. I reckon that they're they're they're
phasing out because people aren't using it notugh anymore.
Speaker 7 (34:33):
No, well they're obviously not.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
You know, I blame a to get too.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Busy on a iron shirts.
Speaker 6 (34:39):
Hey, while we're on iron chat, I've actually bought a
brand new type of iron.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
I never knew.
Speaker 5 (34:45):
No, I have.
Speaker 6 (34:46):
A wireless iron, cordless iron.
Speaker 7 (34:50):
Oh, I've seen that.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
What do you mean it won't have so much power?
Speaker 5 (34:54):
It is actually pretty power.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
No, No, you've got no spray starch and you've got
no power.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
It means you know what you are real, you're a
cordless iron.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Well, it means the cord doesn't get tangled up in
the But it's I like the fact that the iron
is a really unfriendly experience. It's a hot it's actually
pain in the backside. You go get that old ironing
board out and that flimsy legs and jack it up
and hook it in.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
As soon as you get it right, then the cord
gets caught.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Yes, it does that. Thick old cord as well a
big old brown snake. You've got to wrestle with. I
like all that. It's all part of it. Try the
cordless iron power, no power.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
I get I gets hold.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
It won't get hard. Your generation don't, can't is the
real one. Anyway.
Speaker 7 (35:41):
What we're talking, you're in steaming the laundry. I need
the windows all steamed up when I iron.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Okay, uh, let's take a break. We'll get little bit
steamed up in it now.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
The Christian O'Connell Show podcast.
Speaker 4 (35:56):
Okay, we're doing signs. You're an adult.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Christian. You know when you're an adult, one of the
most exciting part of a night out is getting home
and going to bed. This is me Friday Night Cinema,
Daughter's twenty second. They all went on clubbing. I went home,
put my tracked axe on, watch the Terrible Sports documentary,
and I'm so happy. I'm so happy being in light club.
It's too loud. I can't even have a conversation here.
I do know what these music is that these kids
(36:19):
are playing these days. What's that weird smell everywhere? Christian
signs you an adult? This is a brilliant one. Constantly
wondering about how much milk there isn't a fridge. That's
my wife and I. That's sex thing for us, Chris.
How much milk we got on the fridge? Do I
need to buy an leach on the way home?
Speaker 5 (36:35):
Chris?
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Can you get some milk on the way home? You
would think we just live on milk nothing else. That's
a great one, Well done, Christian. I'm twenty four. I
don't own an iron. I use a hair straight now
not this is the beginning of.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
The end of civilization.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
No, oh, Christian. And we recently won a holiday to Japan.
My husband and I spit up for the day. He
purchased a Pokemon merch and I spent my money buying
sushi and fish shaped sponges for our kitchen.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
Definitely signs us an adult.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
This is cam Christia, and signs you're when you find
the best car park at the shopping center. It's next
a place where people can't park and damage your car.
I know what you mean. Yes, Christian, signs you an
adult when you find a discussion about irons and ironing.
Speaker 4 (37:26):
Are they usually interesting?
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Even? Dare I say captivating? Hey?
Speaker 4 (37:31):
We exist to captivate Christian, good morning signs.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
You an adult looking at calendar seeing there are no
plans for this coming this weekend and getting very excited
about a weekend of planned and nothing.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
That'sten Chris Christian, you guess right.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
I did. I stepped up. I went for the brevel
for the toaster. We've got the same one. It's worse
stepping up for it. It's like I reckon, I could
run a small guest house with my Brevel toaster.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
See. I have a theory that there are no good
toasters in the world. I have gone through.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
What is up with you today? You're talking the morning
signs are there right now. Alarm bells are ringing right now.
When you've got wireless iron that's going to be gutless,
And now you don't respect a toaster.
Speaker 6 (38:14):
Humanity has not mastered the art of a toaster. There
are no good toasters on planets.
Speaker 10 (38:19):
Four.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
Babe, Revel is very good. It's a beast, it's it's
it's it's hotel grade.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
Is it toasting both sides of the bread evenly equally?
Speaker 5 (38:27):
I bet it's not just that.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
It's not just that you bring your best loaf of
sour dough round it will fit the whole thing in
now that is impesting, not just like you know, the
head sticking up.
Speaker 5 (38:36):
Hey, what about me?
Speaker 1 (38:39):
Flip and get your head down in there, sir.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
I've been through three toasters probably in the last six years.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
Well you're you're making full savings.
Speaker 6 (38:50):
I'm doing all my research, but none of them. I've
noticed you started chetting out.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
I don't know why. It's like it's fighting talk. It's
like when it's so I say to you, so wish
I had a pipe that I could point at you
right now to make a pertinent point. You, sir, are
talking nonsense.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
Every single one of them.
Speaker 6 (39:04):
One side will cook much more than the other side.
For some reason, you've gotten a toasters toasters.
Speaker 5 (39:11):
No I haven't. I have looked up you ever.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Had a brevel?
Speaker 4 (39:14):
And by the way, I paid for whack for my
rolls Royce of toasters.
Speaker 5 (39:18):
Okay, I haven't.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
I reckon if you broke into Buckingham Palace and don't,
but if you did, there'd be brevels everywhere.
Speaker 6 (39:24):
I haven't tried the brevel, but I would like to
see photo evidence.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
Do you know what? I put a call through to
our friends that old Halvey Norman today see if we
can get ourselves hand on that four bay the four
bay Brevel, and you can try it tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (39:36):
I would love to put it to the test, and.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
I get ready for an apology at the same time.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Tomorrow we reconvene the Christian O'Connell show podcast.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Thank you very much for joining us, Christian O'Connell Show
for Chemists Warehouse. Christian signs you an adult when you
prefer to have a coffee in the afternoon instead of
a beer. You work out your backtime, what time to
start a two and a half hour movie? You get
a bed on time. Yes, gotta get those gotta get
those z's in and now toaster chat continues Christian. I
(40:05):
agree the Bevell is great, but you've got to try
the Kitchen eight. I'm not doing that because I'm very
happy with the Breve. I've told you my toaster, Christian
has electric elevators, so no lever pushing for this guy. Well,
I have wooden tongs that I used to read in
there to save my little dainty fader fingers. Right, Christian,
(40:26):
my toaster upgrade. Not only did I upgrade, I put
all of our gift vouchers from my fortieth birthday to
a kitchen aid toaster, kutl and blender. I figured it
was forty I'd earned it. You're right a life well lived.
Twelve years later, Christian, there I have eleven members of
the family. Thank you, Mary Lou. Christian. I've got a
Chelsea FC toaster. Oh it's blue in blazing with the logo.
(40:48):
The toast comes up with the Chelsea Football Club logo
on it. I didn't know this was an option. Can
we get Christian O'Connell's show toasters face? Well, now, I
think listen the logo or something like that. That's incredible.
I get an emails now about toasters.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
Christian.
Speaker 1 (41:05):
You need to try the Breve IQ toaster. It censors
eyes to toast by color aka brownness, not on a
timers who get exactly the brownness you want. And I'm
not sure about saying the word brownness, but I keep
saying it browness you want no matter what the type
of bread, even frozen.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
That's from Helen Mary mcshannagg Morning.
Speaker 1 (41:27):
Mary. I too went for the Rebel toast, and my
choice was because I had a crump it option chriss
and I've never regretted my decision.
Speaker 5 (41:36):
I'm willing to try.
Speaker 6 (41:38):
I am skeptical, but I'm happy to come in with
an open mind.
Speaker 5 (41:41):
Try.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
That's all I ask. That's all I ask. And now
I've got an amazing news story about a very brave
pet dog. This country, we are a country of dog lovers.
I remember I once every couple of months, I try
and read a book I wouldn't normally read when I
moved here. And I was like really trying to get
to understand Australia. I read a lot of books and
one I gave up halfway through. It was like, that's
(42:04):
enough kelpie chat for now. It was the whole book
about It was something like the history of the dog
that made Australia Kelpie dogs.
Speaker 5 (42:12):
We're very proud of that.
Speaker 1 (42:13):
You love those kelpies and TI book about the history
of kelpies. Halfway through I got enough. I don't need
any more kelpie knowledge. I'm up to speed with the Kelpies.
I get it. Very good, trustworthy dogs. So anyway, this country,
you love your pets. And I read the story yesterday.
It really cheered me up. It's nice to see good
news stories in the world. And it was about a
husky dog in America. That was a family dog and
(42:35):
it protected over the weekend six year old boy from
a raging bear got in the way of it.
Speaker 5 (42:42):
Wow, that is incredible.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
Ran husky is a big dog, but it's not as
big and fronacious as a bear. A rampaging, raging bear.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
Incredible.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
It's now getting honors like state honors in Connecticut for Bella.
This beautiful looking huskyies a lot of some state senator
is hosting an awards dude this Friday to give it
state honors. So Bella the husky mix, Yes, I don't know.
Does he get the freedom of the city? So I
(43:12):
think in Australia people must have stories right of brave dogs.
I doubt they're going to be cats that you don't
get often and getting used to about a cat saving
its own as life or you know, calling triple zero
wheen it had a heart attack?
Speaker 4 (43:27):
Dogs you do, don't they know?
Speaker 1 (43:28):
They start? But they trained them, don't They just to
smell heart attacks or when people are having seizures and
of that. The cat could be trained like that, but
it wouldn't be bothered to help you.
Speaker 6 (43:38):
Do you think your cat Fat Larry would save you
in an emergency.
Speaker 1 (43:41):
No, I think he hopes any day now I'm dropping
down and if it does, he will start to eat
me immediately. Even if I just tripped and fall in.
Larry does not death. I'm not their.
Speaker 5 (43:51):
Mad, Larry.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Wait your turn like all those other vultures. Aark, my children.
I think that actually there should be Australian of the
Year awards for brave pets, like a genuine like an
awards for brave and courageous pets. Yes, that we celebrate
and they come up. They get a treat to some
(44:17):
sort of the pigs there. They love love the pigs there.
It's not just dogs whatever. If there are brave cats
or parrots or canaries or I don't know what a
snake could do.
Speaker 5 (44:26):
Yees, snakes tend to be on the on.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
The other side, it's not really they're they're they're they're bad.
They are that the villain. Anyway, I'm going to call this,
and I want to be that the show that really
does recognize the brave pants of Australia PO Australian of
the Year.
Speaker 4 (44:45):
Thank you now once more.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
In case you're just going through a tunnel, deer listener,
I'm going to call this poor Australian of the Year
because Australian of the Year got their little pause and
the award is the Golden Paws. Yes they get all right,
(45:07):
So lines are open right now for the first ever
really kind of contenders. I need to hear about brave
pets stories dogs cats. I know the RSPCA in Australia
has the Purple Cross Award where they actually do recognize
and award brave pets, but I think between nineteen ninety
(45:27):
three and two thousand and more now they've only ever

Speaker 3 (45:39):
Christian Connell Show Podcast.
Speaker 1 (45:42):
We're looking for your stories of brave and courageous pets.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
Who we got here.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
We have Annie on the line now.
Speaker 8 (45:48):
Good morning Annie, Good morning, Christian, Good morning everybody.
Speaker 4 (45:52):
Welcome to the show.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Annie. So what is this? A cat, dog, parrot, cockatil
a cat? You've got brave cat story?
Speaker 8 (46:00):
Well, I'll say well, I'll say head all right, yeah,
but this is a number of years ago, and I
was working in hotels and pubs at the time, and
you know, said late night that sort of thing. I
got home to my apartment, and it was a winter
It was in during winter, and I popped on a
couple of logs on the open fireplace that I had
there anyway, you know, being tied, I went to bed
(46:23):
shut the door. That was the end of it, you know.
But then I was I was awoken by so this
banging at my door and my bedroom door about could
have been like two or three in the morning by then,
and I sort of went, whoa, what you know? And
and I sort of got up blindly, and then I
sort of opened the bedroom door, and I was hit
like a wall of smoke, and I was like, yeah, yeah,
(46:43):
And your brain's going, why what you just you're just
kind of fat on what's going on? And my cat
was mowing and banging at my bedroom door, and because
your brain is trying to sort of wake up. And
the thing is with some fires and smoke, there's a
lot of smoke in the apartment, and you get about say,
maybe five or six inches of like like air at
(47:04):
the ground level. And I looked down and he was banging,
sort of was banging every door and mowing at me,
and he kept lying down because that's where the air was.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
That's right, Because I remember years ago, these were TV
adverts trying to get down and trying to talk. That's
when they and crawled out to get to safety.
Speaker 8 (47:20):
Yeah, and the thing that's it, And I thought, why
this is like it was amazing, man, I was thinking
how to get out? And the thing was, it's a
really weird thing when you're in that situation because you
get totally disoriented, you don't know.
Speaker 9 (47:33):
You.
Speaker 8 (47:35):
Yeah, it was. And I'm sort of going, where was
the where was the way to exit? I thought, you know,
in my own place, you know. And and my cat
then was his name was Mitten. He was a ginger cat,
and he was basically he led me to the front door.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
I said, about godness cats when.
Speaker 8 (47:56):
You said that, I know, when you said that, I went, oh, no, no,
you know. And I haven't ended double to tell anyone
this because I thought, don't even believe me, you know.
But then the Fieries turned up. You know, I might say,
this is before smoke detectors, all right, so this is
like a number of years ago now, you know, when
I was much younger, so there were no smoke detectors
and what sort of things. So yeah, so the Fieries
turned up and they had to. They smashed in the
(48:18):
front door of the apartment. It was like what and yeah,
and they and my cat, who I thought would just
take off, he hung around and the firees actually helped
him with some oxygen.
Speaker 1 (48:29):
Yeah, oh god, they got little cat masks, say they
have a little teddy one in the back.
Speaker 8 (48:35):
Well, they actually had tiny little sort of things, maybe
for kids. I don't know at the time, you know,
And I was like wow, but I couldn't see because
there was smoke in my eyes.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
Were you lucky to be alive?
Speaker 8 (48:45):
Actually it was crazy and.
Speaker 1 (48:47):
Carbon poisoning or even just yeah.
Speaker 8 (48:50):
Absolutely, but at the time you don't even.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
Think of that, you know, you just like amazing story, Annie,
Thank you a much sharing. I remember a couple of
years ago seeing some fieries. Was up the middle of
the day trying to get a cat out of a tree.
So I pulled over, obviously to watch, and I went
up start and chanted them and they looked so bored
and irritated, and I went, I didn't know this happened
in real life, and they're like yeah, And I was like,
I thought you might be busy, and that she goes
(49:13):
not since smoke alarms came along.
Speaker 4 (49:15):
They were really.
Speaker 1 (49:16):
Annoyed about smoke alarms, not since smoke alarms actually ruined
this whole fiery game. You know, nonsense smoke alarms. No, No, sadly.
Speaker 5 (49:25):
Smoke alarm killed the fires, sadly.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
