Speaker 1 (00:10):
I Heart podcasts, hear more gold podcasts, playlist and listen
live on the free I Heart app.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Got anything good?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hey, this is the Christian O'Connell show podcast. Now we
need you all to listen very carefully to my words.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Two years ago, the show was under attack.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Two years ago, the radio landscape looked very different. Let's
go down memory Lane, Memory Lane, Memory Lane, Memory Laneane
suddenly coming into our city when we're just in one city.
The Christian O'Connell Show been in Melbourne, another show was
coming in from Sydney.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Rip Carlo Jackie O.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Now we work for the same company, and they asked
my marketing money and gave it to carl and Jackio.
So they could have literally bought the town Gleman. They
were posters everywhere. Literally, they had their own coach at
one point, that great big coach.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
And the best part about all that marketing money was
it worked so well, it worked very very well.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
So well they've now retired, they don't need to do
radio anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
So we couldn't have afford any billboards.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
And so one day was driving and it was Binda
for the suburb that I live in, and I suddenly
saw all these bins being wheeled out faceside. We all
know how to wheel the bins out face side on
the streets. You see bins, bins, bins, bins, bins. Now
that's a bit like billboards the straightaway. I thought, could
we get some cheap stickers and use bins as bin
boards And the Rebel Bin Army was born and we

(02:01):
managed to hold the line here in Melbourne. Yeah, but
now the show is in Sydney and adelaide from Brisbane
and Berth. We are in nash show. But the real
battlefront at the moment is, of course Sydney. It is
in free fall when we're in Sydney a couple of
weeks ago. All the other rival shows trying to get
the number one spot. They've got their adverts all over

(02:21):
the billboards.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
We need the bins to come.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Back, yes, And like any military campaign, okay, there's always
the fronts that you're fighting on. Where is our straight
off HomeOS, it's Western Sydney. As soon as we start
talking about the national show, our boss south Vader, she said,
you've got to take the west. If you can't make
it in the west of Sydney, you won't make it.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
She had like a war map out on the Aarrametta
Black Town. She was like naming these suburbs all the west.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
She said, if you can make it in the West,
the rest will fall.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
It's a catchphrase here in Melbourne.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
I think the mission the battlefront here is about holding
the line. Been here for eight years. Okay, this city
made this show made me so in Sydney, we need
our commander on the ground. There boots on the ground,
and that is you, intern, Pete.

Speaker 4 (03:15):
Yes, I can do something for the show that you
gotta love.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I hope. Well that's just anyway. Sorry, Yeah, thank you.
Great start. And Carl still hasn't called you and offered
you a job on his podcast.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Keep messaging Cargo and he can take him on a
free transfer. You definitely don't need him on that podcast.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
You don't only get the commander from the army that's
sort of left and you pick up him and say, oh,
he's our commander to take us on.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Yes, you know, so we need you to run the
operations in the west, Pete, Okay, to help us take
the West and spread the word. This isn't just in
We understand about trying to get the show to number one.
That's not what we're about, the bright Solilidal. It's just
about spreading the word. The number one thing we hear
from new listeners who are finding us in Melbourne or
Adelaide or Sydney is I didn't know there was radio

(04:02):
like this. We do it differently and it's up to
you whether you prefer that or not. But we just
want to spread the word. Now it's hard to do that.
Everyone's saying, you know, Triple am good. People want to
listen to that any morning in Sydney. I mean, that's pop.
We've given up on life, isn't it. Come on, there's
got to be another alternative. It's us And I think
if you're driving around and you suddenly see some advertising

(04:25):
promoting a radio show on the side of a bin,
you go, that's my kind of show.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
But they've got bin mates.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Yes, we have great bins here too, like we have
so multiple I.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Know that's a lot of rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne.
You're now going to lord Over saying you've got better bens.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
We got some goods here in Melbourne as well. Have
you seen the mcg bins, the bins of Great Ocean Road.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Ah, they are good too.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Aren't they.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
You've got great recycling down there too, We do as well.
Just anyway, nothing about the bins. But I'm just excited
to be a part of the program.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
So all right, so here's what we need right now,
Melbourne represent show up. We can we have your bin.
The other shows are taking the billboards, we're taking the bins.
All we need from you to help spread the w
of the bright side is your bin calling now? Thirteen
fifty five twenty two, Pete, you have five shows to

(05:16):
get a Christian O'Connell's show binsticker on the bins of
the Prime Minister got five shows so much too much time.
You get down a kirabilly house, you use that charm
of yours. Yep, you use that charm of yours and
you get Albo to ask if you can put the
stickers of the show on the bin.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Question for you, though, we're happy with Kirabilly House. Or
do we do the lodge or do we do the
one that's out near Dalis Hill. He's got three you know,
we'll do all three bins bagrret. We're doing all three
if that's okay with you? Yeah, all three?

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (05:49):
So look two years ago the Rebel bin Army. We're
not on an army of war. What are we now
with the bright Side of the Diet? Okay, so it's
now renamed the Army the bright Side Battalion. So you're
joining the bright Side Battalion now, now, guys, I've had
to think about this again, had a long time on
a plane. I don't know if I've first told you
about this in between tucking into Poor Patrol. I've got
new in the bright Side Battalion. Okay, all right, I'm

(06:12):
the Rebel Captain bin Solo Rio. I rename you now,
Chew Binker. Now, in the Star Wars movies and that universe,
there is a simple farm boy made good.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Now that is Luke Skywalker. Who is a simple farm
boy in this show. You're already there.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
It's Luke bin Walker, Pete, you are now Luke bin Walker,
Luke ben Walker, the farm boy made good? All right,
join the bright Side Battalion, Christian. I'd love to join
the bright Side Battalion, Christian. When you recruit to the show,
I love it. Now it's hesitant at first. That's from

(06:49):
Vicky Christian. What about Patsy in the bright Side Battalion
bin Cess Leier.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
Love it, love it, bro. Just don't make me wear
that Bikinia please.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
I don't think that's work safe. Christian, I drive a
garbage truck.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Four.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
We want to take the western Sydney. Hold the line
here in Alburn, Black.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Town Council, Big one, Big one. We have secret agent
in a way. It's got man on the inside. We're
still blower.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
I'd love I'll take some because bin stickers and get
them done for you, Christian, Christian, welcome back might being
what about w a Mandura very west. Yes, he wanted
the west, not that west, which we'll send some. But
we've got to focus which west. It's the west of

(07:39):
That's what the boss was on about.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
If you can take the west of Perth, you've made
it in radio in Australia, once you've got Rottenest Island.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Yeah, all right, there's chatter two.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
Some people want to join the binfan tree. That's the
entry level.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Here is yeah, you know that that there's more lots
time in the year join the binfantry and then if
you sticker five bends or more set us photographic evidence,
you get promoted to the highest rank in the bright

some of the infantry. Carol, good morning.

Side Battalion. You can give us your bin.

Speaker 2 (08:28):

two more. I need more stickers.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
You got a spare bean or a second bin? Yeah,
you got the recycling or list to general one.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
The recycling and the garden bin. But I'm also living
a court, so therefore I could actually campaign to get
the rest.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Of the corky and then of course five more and
you get you geral.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
I do put the bin out on a Wednesday night.
Sometimes I get a beep because I live on a corner,
and I'm not too sure that for the bin sticker.

No, no, it's a fellow lestener. Well I think I
said to you go beat the bin to a fellow

our secret code. That's when we know each other's resistance
