close game. I think we were stuck and stuck in

How would you review JoJo's game?

I thought he played pretty well considering the conditions and

his job and done what every winger should do is
just take those tough carries. So yeah, I thought he
played really excellent.

It was tough on the ground, I think, especially because
it's your fallback as well, so the winger's got to
work a bit more and obviously been one of the
wingers I was. The lungs were starting to go a bit,
but the boys stuck in and they gave it the rule,
but we didn't get there in the end. They got
us in the last minute. So yeah, no, I was
happy with the boys efforts and yeah happened again. I
think we'll be.

I think just sticking to our foundations, our skills, and

to hard work and determination, and I think we've definitely

we need to do, and just working hard for each other.

you're pretty patriotic and I think that's what means so
much to us. So yeah, it's pretty special and everyone
rides the emotion with you and it makes you want
to win even more.

Caitlin and I were trying to figure out the difference
between a Queensland fan and a New South Wales fan,
just in terms of the passion. Now you don't I'm

words are that Queenslanders are far more feral than New

happy with the boys efforts and yeah happened again. I

you're pretty patriotic and I think that's what means so
much to us. So yeah, it's pretty special and everyone
rides the emotion with you and it makes you want
to win even more.

Caitlin and I were trying to figure out the difference
between a Queensland fan and a New South Wales fan,
just in terms of the passion. Now you don't I'm
go going to put words in your mouth, but my
words are that Queenslanders are far more feral than New
South Wales fan in a good way, yep, because it
means more to us.

I don't know. Why do you know?

Why do I know why? I'm going to say, just
the adversity we face. I reckon whether it be droughts
for all the farmers out west, cyclones up north, floods wherever,
just we just get about business and get down to it.

So I reckon the adversity makes us a little bit
more rough around the edges, but that's why we love
being from where we are.

Pressure makes diamonds, And can I just say perfectly. That
is the perfect answer.

And I swear my question before wasn't like a leading question. However,
it would be remissive me not to really lock in
and focus on the Grand Final from last year because
it was one of the greatest days of my life,
was it for you?

Yeah? Especially probably experiencing a heartbreak in twenty twenty three
being on the other end in twenty five was pretty special.
So actually, yeah, my motivation was probably like not to
break Brisbane Broncos fans' hearts again. I know twenty twenty
five was like a dagger in the heart, then twenty
three might have been like a dagger in the back.

And when Melbourne were coming home obviously I was like,
oh my god, please don't do this them. So yeah,
I was very grateful and that was a pretty special day.

How does it how like to full disclosure? Full disclosure.
One of our favorites on this pod and just in
life is Harry Grant. My last text that I sent
to that man is me wishing him not luck for
the Grand Final, and I think he hates me now.

So I feel, how do you go at seeing each
other again after you know, such a victory for us
and disappointment for him.

Yeah, it's tough. It actually is tough. I mean it's
like something you work your whole life for. But then
you come in these environments and you know someone like
h and I or Munster and those sort of guys
like Harry and I have been playing together sinceil like
seventeen or eighteen, so we've had a lot of special
times as well, So it's tough. But yeah, I think
you kind of put that aside and it's like a

mutual respect. And yeah, I actually do remember sitting sitting
out the Grand Final like lunch sort of vibe not lunch,
it's like a parade, and thinking like we obviously lost
in twenty three Penrifline, Melbourne lost in twenty four and Penrifine,
and then we will playing each other in twenty five
and I was thinking, oh my god, one of us
(32:03):
are going to lose again. This is going to be
a tough bill to swallow. So yeah, you do think
for the boys because you care a lot about them.
But also works pretty hard for that moment.

How annoying is it to play against Nathan Cleary?
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeah, he's he's a good player. It really is a
really good player. And we've had some good days, but
I've had some tough days against Naith too, and now
I have a lot of respect for him.

Who are there other big guns? Like I mean, I
have my thoughts, but.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
In South Wales, yeah, well they've got a great team,
is very strong. Yeah, obviously him play at club Land
with pain so Painhass is pretty a special player and
there he is insane.

It's rude that he's a new South Washman.

Yeah, yeah, there's a few them, Jimmy James, t Tesco,
Marky Mark.

The moment, So when he scores one of those tries,
is there just part of you that wants to clap
like no in the moment.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure you're just like what
the hell? But like he's a freak.

No, when you're playing against him, you're probably like why.
But when you're watching him and you are, you can
see how specially he does some of those things. Just
definitely like how I mean, I think he was blessed
with some skills that I wasn't blessed with. So yeah,
that's pretty special.

you could score a try and the decider not to
the wing, but like you know, just tries.

next to Tino and us just embracing. That was my

my attention, Patty, that we share something in common other

Well number three, let's round it out. We both received
an OP two correct from our high school years. Yeah,
so that also makes us pretty clever, not the cleverest.
How annoyed were you that you didn't get OP one?

Well, disappointed? Obviously you work pretty hard for it. But
two's like the awkward ground where you're like the oh,
you tried hard, but it kind of feels like this
just changed. Weird to say, but a bit like the
Participation Award, don't you think when you say you got
OB two? Most of the time people be.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Like, oh, yeah, we came fourth in the Olympics.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
Yeah, fourth in the Olympics. So it's kind of I
actually used to get I don't know how boy was
it forty first found out when I went to Broncos
and they thought it was funny just to keep like
teasing me about OP two, which was quite weird. But yeah,
it's like you're in that awkward in between. It's like
a yeah, fourth of the Olympics, what do you do outside?
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Of footy.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
What do I do? Oh my god, A bit of
everything here and there, like passion wise. Oh well, I'm
studying physio at the moment, so that's ticking away behind
the scenes.
Speaker 4 (35:44):
And then it's a very OP two thing to do.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
But yeah, yeah, it will be like OP one thing
would be medicine, so OP two things physio respectfully, so
I can say I'm do that. And then I got
a kelpie I named Tarley. Spend a bit of time
doing whatever, beach camping, but everything.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
So when you need to turn your brain off and
not focus on footage, can you do it? And how
do you do it?
Speaker 3 (36:10):
I can? I had to learn it. I actually live
a little bit away. I live on the Gold Coast,
but it's kind of my way of like disconnecting a
little bit and you know, the beach and getting in
the ocean. I kind of feels like my way to
reset sort of things. So it's like I have a
longish drive home and deal with all my very minimal
(36:30):
problems for the day and what's going on in the world,
and then get on with it.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
How would you describe your coach Madge not Madge Billy Billy.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
I just had to clarify it.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
That's also fair. I'm very intrigued about Madge, but we
can take that offline.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
But they're both great. Bill is Yeah. I think for
a lot of the boys here was you know, an
idol and a key part of you know, what the
Queensland Marines were when we're kids, So you know, the
detail and the trust that he puts in us and
his work ethic kind of is infectious and you nearly
don't want to let him down every time you step
(37:06):
on the field. So it's pretty cool to get, you know,
coached by not only him but some of our other
heroes in camp and it's kind of a nice reminder that, ah,
they're some pretty special people. So if you be a
good person first, you can also be a pretty good
football player.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Have you ever got start?

Like, oh, who was it? Who was it? In the
rugby league world? These guys are pretty up there. I
used to love Josh Josh Papali obviously when I was
a kid too, so when I think Tino was the same.
So when myself and Tino played with Big Papa for
the first time, it was like, there's a bit of
a pinch. He sort of it was cool to be

doing that.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
But with his vibe, he just felt like, then this
is me watching through a television screen. His energy just
felt like a hug.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Yeah he is, He's like that's he's the big, big poppa.
He's like the dad of the group. And but yeah,
those those early days and we got to play in
this arena together. Then obviously phone calls from Bill and
those sort of things to make your debut for queens
Land's pretty special because he had a fair career in
this Jersey as well.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Because we've earned it?
