Speaker 1 (00:10):
My hard podcasts, hear more kiss podcasts, playlists and listen
live on the free I Hard.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Ah, the Will and Woody podcast would row I'd like
to know thirteen one and six five, or even text
USh four nine, thirteen one and six five.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
We're loving the text, guys, so so keep them coming.
Speaker 4 (00:32):
We are.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
We are really loving your text. What is the oldest
thing in your fridge and or pantry is what I
want to know.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
It's been eighty four years.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yes, Yes, we once got a call of someone who
had a fish in their freezer for twenty five years.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
Yes, there's the bar Australia.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
We we actually wanted to eat it, but the lawyers
got involved.
Speaker 4 (00:53):
Yeah. We told it would be lethal. Yeah, and I was.
They didn't want to do that.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
They didn't want to dead on air crew, which I
which I maintain would have been a hot bit huge
for hit would have been a hot hits online, could
have played the funeral on air, would have been great,
absolutely shame opportunity opportunities. But right now, though, there are
some people who have got stuff that's that's really really
still in their fridge.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
That is I think there's always one person.
Speaker 3 (01:17):
In the relationship that holds onto the things in the
fridge that doesn't clear it out. Yes, yeah, my partner
sem doesn't clear it.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Out right, So you want to you always want to
go the big cleanse. Yeah, I'm like, why are we
keeping that? It's still good? I think I've realized on
the keep be souse. I've got to be definitely for
the keep up.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
There's nothing worse than when you get home and you're
looking for that you know, for geoe a jam that
you haven't had for fifteen years, but maybe you've got
a hankering for it, and you realize that your partner
has cleared it because it's.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
And you need space as well. You need the space.
But it's a conversation.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
I think you can have a pile, you have a
pile somewhere and go, hey, I'm wanting to get rid
of this, but I need to have an opportunity to
save my forgo a jam.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
It's always the condiments as well, yes, all and which
which you know?
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Are you right?
Speaker 3 (01:57):
Because they go missing for a while and you haven't
had the thing. Yeahbody's looking for it.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I understand you might be hungover or saying you like
all of a sudden need for Joe A Jam.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
There is a story on read about a guy I
don't know if for Joe A Jam is stop saying it.
A guy on Reddit who's kept cool Whip cool Whip
in his fridge for fifteen for eleven years since twenty fifteen.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Cool whip? Is that dairy cool whip? It's like frosting. Yeah,
it's dairy for sure.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
So yeah, I mean that's eleven year old dairy. That's
that's got to be bad news.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
The cool thing about it is that because this there's
a Reddit thread that really popped off where they're using
the oldest thing in their fridge as like a time
capsule to remember what that thing has seen through.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
So what's the cool whip?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
So the cool whip has seen Donald Trump's what's happened
since the cool Whip was, you know there, Donald Trump
becoming president. But the cool Whip was there when Obama
was around. Oh cool, for the origins of the Me
Too movement. The cool Whip was there for Brexit obviously,
it's it's been through COVID, oh wow. The cool Whip
(03:05):
was there when Uptown Funk, when people were doing those
music videos to Uptown Front.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Whoa so that's that's that's funny.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
As soon as you start saying that that, now it
feels like, oh, well, that cool whip has been around
for a while.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
It's a very cool whip. There's no doubt it's a
cool whip.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Just now it's actually a wonderful I mean, before I
throw the food out, now, I'm going to take a
moment just to be like, wow, this is this is
what you've been through. Excuse the oldest one in our
fridge had a look this morning.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Yeah, talk to me.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
We've got a chili jam from twenty twelve.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Oh yeah, I think a chili jam plays though. I
think as soon as it's a jam, this, I mean
this is I'll bring back the I think as soon
as you jam it, it lives for all their preservatives
in jams to keep it going.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
But this, this jams in their bunkers.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
This particular chili jam has been there for so long
that it's crystallized.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
That's tight. Is that? No No mold though, No, no, no,
no mold. Crystals no mold at this point, did crystals
in your chili jam? But if I wanted to use.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
The chili jam before I threw it out this morning,
and I did throw it out thirteen one of six.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Five was the oldest side.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
I'm in your Free Gender Pair Chili Jam biggest song
in twenty twelve. It was alive when somebody that I
used to know was rocking, impressing.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
What's what's got to air up to these days?
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Wally Devaka, I don't know he's Actually he's.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
A very interesting man. He's a philanthropist. Last last I
knew he was.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
He donated half the win like the royalties from that
song to a charity which defended park rangers in Africa
who stopped poaches from shooting animals.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
He's a very interesting guy. Anyway.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Betty White was still alive when My Chili Jam was
still rocking. I remember Betty White, gossip Girl was still
on TV. The One Direction Mania Analyst was still sending
her videos out to the One D boys.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
I was how old were you in twenty twelve? Analyts twelve?
Speaker 5 (04:55):
What?
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Yeah? She was twelve years old years.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
After One Direction formed. But in July twenty third.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Wow Analyst was in year hang On Analyst was in
year six. Yes, when you bought that childre and I
bought the chili Jam?
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Really wow, Holy Wow, holy wow.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
That has it survived multiple houses? It would have been
in Perth per second.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
A second when you moved from Perth to the East coast,
brought your chili.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Jes and brought the whole thing because we had a
whole fridge for the condiments.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
You're empty your fridge. Also leave your fridge in Perth. No, mate,
I actually brought the fridge back all right.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
So clearly the company was for the moving costs. Bubble
wrapped everything. They bubble wrapped everything. I would love a
live sniff, by the way, if anyone's at their home
or about to get home, if you're going to open
that thing for us, what about a lick again, mate,
the sauce, no lick, the horn, keep it in your pants.
You've got ten minutes you're doing your topic. Little lick
(05:57):
Eddie is called Eddie.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
It's just going on, Eddie.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
What's the oldest thing in your fridge? Anual pantry?
Speaker 7 (06:05):
I've got pickle juice. I've got pickle juice that's moved
to houses over six years with me or if he
used to get rid of.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
It, how old ed? How old is it?
Speaker 7 (06:14):
Six years old?
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Twenty? So?
Speaker 1 (06:16):
So? Why you are you refusing to get rid of
it because there's a I mean pickle juice I think
is pretty good for cramp and stuff. Is there like
a big run coming up or something that you're saving
your pickle juice for?
Speaker 7 (06:27):
No? No, no, these are some awesome pickles that I bought,
and I must smash the pickles. And I've always wanted
to buy another jar of those pickles, so I kept
the jar to remember what pickles I had. And every
time we try and clear out the fridge, my girlfriend
wants to get rid of it because I never bought
another jar of pickle.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
It's become a bit of a legacy item in the fridge.
Your fridge feels strange without them. They're the talisman. But
there's no pickles in the jar. There's only there's only
the juice, Eddie. You could take a photo of the
jar to remember. I could. Lara's Lara's cooled on thirteen
(07:05):
one and six five, Texas, Oh for two nine thirteen
one and six five. Oldest thing in New Pantrion or fridge, Lara,
what'd you got?
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Well?
Speaker 8 (07:12):
I actually hurt my ear over the weekend and went
over to my father in law's house and he goes
no worries. I've got something for that and pulled out
ear dropped from nineteen ninety two.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Whoa, this is the biggest song from ninety ninety two?
Button push you to tell me? Wow, he's on it?
How look at that?
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Wait?
Speaker 3 (07:32):
So forty what forty four years old? But I don't know,
thirty four years old?
Speaker 4 (07:37):
So thirty four years old?
Speaker 1 (07:38):
So, Lara, am I if he wouldn't, if he wouldn't
fetch that for you? Am I to assume that he's
been dropping those bad boys in his ears recently?
Speaker 8 (07:46):
Well, when I showed the expiry date, he was like,
don't worry. I think I've got another one. And that
one was two thousand and four, so probably.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Wow, medicine cupboard does get a bit slippy. Wow, that's intense, Lara,
nineteen ninety two. I mean they've seen some things. They've
seen some of those seen. What was in ninety ninety
two is boring, to be honest, fair enough saying before
the Google aiye is awful.
Speaker 4 (08:11):
I've said.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Biggest things of nineteen ninety two, what's it gone to?
Los Angeles? Riots?
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Hurricane Andrew? Oh geez? The Summer Olympics in Barcelona. I
mean it's seen something summer limpics in Barcelona's seen some
things A long time ago?
Speaker 9 (08:25):
Was it?
Speaker 4 (08:25):
You were mare four years old. Let's go to debt.
Let's go to debt. That might help you out a
little bit. First Gulf War. I'm here in here, it
feels like ages ago. Let's go to the.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Problem is when you say what's happened in that year,
you do often get the really hectic ones. Yes, you
get the really hectic ones, which is just you know
you're not going to read them out on radio. I mean,
atleast you I feel like you've been you've been mining
over there for some big things that have happened.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
Well, it would have been around for the first Jurassic
Park movie being released in nineteen ninety that's.
Speaker 4 (08:55):
A great one.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Good for you in nineteen ninety two. These ear drops,
by the way, what she said they.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
Were ear drops? What is an ear drop? You know,
like for aqua ear? You put them in and they
help out with like an infect in your ear. Yeah,
you've never had an ear infection? No, I never had
an ear drop. Oh you know aqui even aqua again,
he told to move on. We don't talk more. About
aqua guys.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Mel Gibson and Robin Moore was still together in nineteen
ninety two. Anali voted at it's ten years before she
was born.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Man, she's got no idea. She has wrote.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Deb's called deb, Hi deb. What is the oldest thing
in your fridge?
Speaker 4 (09:37):
And or petry?
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (09:39):
Okay, not my fridge decay, total disclosure.
Speaker 9 (09:42):
Not my freezer. I was visiting my dad and my stepmum.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Yeah, and she was.
Speaker 9 (09:48):
Going to get something out the freezer. I'm saying A
dog in this?
Speaker 4 (09:53):
A dog, A dog, A full dog.
Speaker 10 (09:57):
A full dog wrapped in a plastic bag.
Speaker 9 (10:00):
Oh, I she said, I was bringing this.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
Wow, just she just doesn't know what to do with it.
Speaker 9 (10:08):
Well, she's gonna get in taxidermic, but I hadn't gotten
around to it.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
I've tried to taxi down me a number of things.
It is a it is a it is a treacherous task.
So so this was this was intense.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Is this a pet? Or did she find a dog?
Speaker 11 (10:23):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (10:23):
That was a pet.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Should just find a dog. That's why I asked the question, mate,
what's the dog's name? Missy? Miss And so what breed
is Missy?
Speaker 9 (10:33):
A little.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Cherry yeah, and so and so another question for your
dev So like, if Missy is in there, that's a
dead dog and she flagged.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
It, by the way, she wasn't like, I go to
the freezer just so you know, dead dog in there.
She was like just going, didn't it?
Speaker 1 (10:49):
So then my next question is there other things in
the freezer? So is Missy like next to the ice cream?
Speaker 9 (10:55):
Yeah, well she was.
Speaker 5 (10:57):
I bought a new.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Freezer fair enough.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
So sorry, she was living her life and she was
going vanilla ice cream just under the dead dog.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
We received a wild call yesterday.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
I just I don't know how someone feels comfortable enough
to call a national radio show and make a confession
like this. She did remain anonymous. I mean, I would
imagine a lot of people would have figured out what
her voice sounds like.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yes, we tell her we put the voice distort her
on and didn't do that, because I feel like that's
I think.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
We said that, didn't do that. But you would never
do that, done it before? We would never done it before. No,
will we have before?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
What are you talking about? Will we are? We are
a professional unit? Anyway? Enough about that. He was the
wild call.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
The confession we received yesterday.
Speaker 8 (11:47):
She found a boyfriend a couple of years ago, and
I had the biggest crush on him, and we actually
hooked up one night and they're still together. We're not
as close anymore, but.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
It definitely.
Speaker 8 (12:03):
Yeah, yeah, go on, I told her that I liked
him first.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
Okay, just because she's in the wrong, I agree.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Flip it anonymous, Okay, And that's her defense.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
Wild.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
We can all breathe on that for a little bit.
Totally wild. And she has never told that friend that
and they're still that.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
It's wild. Her defense, though, doesn't sit world. Is it her.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
Defense which I want to explore just a little bit here.
She thinks that she got DIBs on the guy. Yes, well,
she said she found him attracted, said, in my defense,
she had that conversation with her friend. In effect, she
is enacting the DIBs law, which I think amongst friendship groups,
I think that can happen at times when you go
(12:50):
out and you see a guy that you like and
you tell your friends, Hey, DIBs on that guy or
DIBs on that girl. My question right now, because it's
been a while since I've been out and about single
in the community, in the.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Guy that gunds a bit safer of the tiger. I
want to know.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
I'm third one six five, Yeah, yeah. Can you call
DIBs on someone? Do you have to respect dibbs if your.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Friend goes I'm into that guy. Back off.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
I had DIBs on an old primary school crush. Here
we go from a school crush of mine. Yes, you
hooked up with.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Her many many years later, many years later.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
I told you before you went to go and film
the thing with her, just say no, mate. Old flames
still hold a bit of a candle in my heart.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
There there was a lot of There was just a
lot of chemistry on the set that day, and I
couldn't control it.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Mate, I couldn't put out that flame. I'm sorry you did.
You extinguished extinguished the flame in my heart. There's a
lot of passion there. Female perspective an a least if
you're your perspective, good deflection. You're filming a music video
with her. I couldn't do it. I couldn't be there.
So I said my buddy, would he He'll be great.
(14:02):
That music video exists, by the way, you can find
it on YouTube. Sexy. No one wants to say it.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
If you look up Arlene's it's a Drake song. Just
come home. I'm coming home. What's that one? Look that
one up? Don't give me that face bank find it.
Just don't worry, I'm coming home. What's that Drake song?
Speaker 4 (14:21):
What is for? I don't think it matters. I'd leave it.
I'd leave it.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Sexy thoughts on this and you're still You're still in
the swimming around in the in the pool.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
Yes, I'm still single. Thank you for reminding me. So
I don't make it like that. I think there's very.
Speaker 6 (14:39):
Delicate, thank you. I have two perspectives on it. I
think if it's like on a night out and you're
both going like, oh, he's hot, I think it's you know,
whoever makes the approach first, and if it's meant to be,
it'll be like if they end up going for your friend,
then that's it, Like it doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
But you don't respect the dips.
Speaker 1 (14:58):
So so if your friend walks up to you and says, hey,
I'm really into that guy, I DIBs him and I've
had a little conversation with him already.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
Then I'm not going to go there.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
No, what if the guy then approaches you and is
quite clearly into.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
You, and I think he's hot. I think that's a
conversation with my friend being like, how in in this
are you? Because if you're not super deep.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
Into it, it's going well for me. It's going well
for me.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
I'm starting to until I've had that conversation okay, that
she says, yeah, I'm really into him, but then that
guy keeps making advances on you.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
Then I'd be like, well, you can't. I don't think
you should go there because he's really I don't think
he's worth it. He's coming for me.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
I don't think he's worth it. I want to hear well,
I think it is interesting, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
It's interesting if you walk into a place and you're like, Wow,
that person's like gorgeous.
Speaker 4 (15:53):
I'm into them? Can I think?
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I think I think you can have DIBs on first crack? Yes,
I agree, surely I get the first run. I get
the first run at it?
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Is there a time limit? I feel like I feel
like analy.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
Has had DIBs on Collingwood footballer Isaac quannor for five
years now, so I have no time them are there?
Speaker 6 (16:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Have you made the move? No, I'm not making a
couple of times.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
So if I was your mate, i'd be like, statute
of limitations probably over now, do you know what I mean?
Speaker 6 (16:22):
Yeah, And I'm happy to give that up.
Speaker 4 (16:25):
I'm going to save you. I'm going to save you, anlyst,
I'm going to save you. I want to hear your opinion.
She doesn't need saving.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
She's fine, She's fine, Absolutely, I'm fine. Thirteen one O
sixty five is the number dibbs?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (16:38):
Can you call DIBs on someone when you're out? Can
you respect it? How long do you have to give
your friend who's called DIBs.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
I'd just like to start this conversation by saying, but
I think it's incredibly.
Speaker 4 (16:51):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
I think it's incredibly misogynistic and patriarchal to be calling
DIBs on women who are who, at the end of
the day, just other human beings. I'm not. I'm on
an equality horse. That's what I'm on, and I know
it's true. Though, I think that's disgusting language and I
would never use that, and I think arguably disgusting phone topic.
Speaker 4 (17:12):
Sorry, but I think I think produ think produced.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Aroundase as someone who's still swimming around in the pool.
She brought up the fact that if a friend of
hers a friend of hers started talking.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
To a boy or a girl analse.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
I mean, at the end of the day, couldn't matter,
It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. If they were then
you would give them the space to to shoot their shot.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
But as the kids say, so would you.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
So if they if it wasn't going well for them,
would you ever then make an approach yourself if you
also thought they were hot.
Speaker 6 (17:41):
And if they were done there, then yes, yes, I
would you would.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Okay, how do you know if they're done? Are you
just asked? So you asked them, you probably would, wouldn't you.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
I actually had a dip situation with my now partner
who I met at a music festival.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
Disgusting. Will how dare you try and get owner ash On?
I've seen.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
You ash You good, mate, We're good.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
You had an arrangement with your friends around DIBs.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
So we had a pretty big group of mates, and
over the journey there's been a variety of girls come
and go. We set up a we called it the
rule amongst us boys. So at any stage you could
have the rule on one girl, which meant she's off limits.
At all costs, but every other girl is on the table.
So there was plenty of stories of dudes, you know,
(18:39):
you've got the rule on one chick for a long time,
you're trying to date or tune up for a bit,
and then you know another equally as attractive girl had
come into the loop, and dude to try and shotgunner
or have DIBs on her, and it'd be like, bad luck, mate,
You've already got the rule on one chick. Did you
been working for however long? She's fair game. And it
was sort of acknowledged amongst a big group of US
(19:00):
boys that you could have it on one chick and
everyone else was on the table.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
Yes, you've got it there.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Good.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
I'm going to get us out of there, because it
does like we've entered a frat house. Did There's there's chicks,
and there's DIBs, and there's on the table and working
and tuning and uh, all the language, all the language
that we are really trying to avoid.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Just note the projects and female callers. Wow. Wow we Yeah,
I took a turn. Wow took a turn. Wow we
I feel like we're in the movie American Pie for
a second. Yeah, that was all happening. Yeah, thanks for
their appreciate your opinion. Here we go female. Let's go
(19:42):
to a lot of across. We don't call them females.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Yeah, it's just women's yes, just women girls.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Girl, you want ladies, ladies, ladies. Sorry about that, My bad,
My bad. Thank you for pulling me out. Let's go
to Amy here on thirteen one six.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Yeah, you off a little bit of a training course
of some sort of cards last week, Amy on.
Speaker 4 (20:14):
To have to have a girl call on Dibbs Betty stand.
Speaker 9 (20:22):
So my situation is from very long ago. So these
days I would say, you know, if you're like, yeah, DIBs,
that guy or this girl or that person, it depends
on the night out. It's a night out, go for it.
You know, if it goes somewhere, it doesn't, you're good.
But my situation, my friend I met someone. While we
(20:48):
met someone my friend called Dibbs. I knew he was
into me, that I was too short, So I was like,
I don't know, like he's cute, but like not my type,
not my you know. And we've never been that situation
because we've got completely different types of guys. And as
soon as she's called DIBs. I was like, up, I'm
(21:10):
going after him.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
So did you So did you communicate that to her
or did you just like hear her have DIBs and
then just go against that.
Speaker 9 (21:20):
I told her no, I already been told that he's
into me. So if that doesn't work out, then by
the end of the night, it's your.
Speaker 4 (21:31):
So you had a night. How did you go that night?
Speaker 9 (21:34):
Well, it was the weekend, the long weekend, and we're
now married and have child.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Is your friend still into your husband?
Speaker 9 (21:46):
Well, she's now married, but the slurting and the being
into him went on for quite a while.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
Did you have to have a chat.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Did you have to say like, listen, listen the DIBs,
it's off, we're married.
Speaker 9 (22:02):
Yeah? I did, really, Yeah, she offered, you know, things
to be more people in a relationship.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Whoa she was going for a keys in the ball situation. Yeah, wow, wow,
holy wow.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Did you discuss that with your husband? Did you say like, hey, listen,
we've been we've been proposition for.
Speaker 9 (22:26):
He was pretty much there when it's happened and been suggested,
and yeah he's like, no, no, thank you. I made
my kid for the second I saw you, and I'm
sticking with it.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
So you all still mates, knowing that that office happened,
You're all still hanging out.
Speaker 9 (22:44):
We're not as closed as what we used to doing
just due to a few things. But we're still friends.
But yeah, I'm married to that guy.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
She did. So that was beautiful, lovely, wholesome in to
a bit that was definitely over the line in terms
of the fratness.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
We'll learn from that from that right now.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Though it is the hot take, I say.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Meat the ball, Okay, I genuinely think this is tempered,
which is good for me.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
You've had some bad ones.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
This is not This is not a skill of mine.
I'm not very good at hot takes. I love sitting
on the fence, live on the fence.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
I'll get to you on a sec here' to text
here from Tim from Indra Pilly, he said, boys.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
Tim from Indro here, Yeah, I Tim.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
My hot take is ketch up actually ruins a perfectly
good steak.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Agreed, agreed, Never put ketchup on a steak. If it's
a good steak, it doesn't need to ketchup. It needs
olive oil.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Though interesting that does work well with tomato with the sausage, though,
like at what point?
Speaker 4 (23:46):
What point are you ditching the do you know what
I mean?
Speaker 9 (23:48):
Like?
Speaker 3 (23:48):
What point does the meat get to a quality whereby
the tomato sauce becomes tacky?
Speaker 4 (23:53):
That's a really good thought.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
The quality of meat in a steak is far better
than the soft you got.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
A wagu sauce? Oh bloody hell, what are you doing there?
I don't.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
I think I'm just so ingrained in adding sauce to
a sausage that I think I have.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Really had a sasage behind. Oh yeah, did you want
to engage in sauce on sausage chat?
Speaker 5 (24:12):
No?
Speaker 4 (24:12):
I was thinking more we get into some more hot takes.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
I was thinking of carrying this over to five into
saying source on sausages?
Speaker 4 (24:17):
Where do we all stand anything but that? Who's that
a dry sausage? Is probably the next question? Please, No,
try snags after five. We'll do that now. Jenna's called Jenna,
what's your hot take?
Speaker 9 (24:30):
Hi? My hot take is an open concert officers or
a scam because they're supposed to make people collaborate, but
everyone just wears.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Yeah, that's a great it's a great take where John
play the music. She deserved it.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
The double pass to the movie for you, Jenna, I
couldn't agree more. I couldn't agree more. It's just a
license rather to use headphones.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
You absolutely bang on it, well done, love it. Where
does this sit? Well?
Speaker 1 (24:55):
So really quick, if you're listening right now and you
haven't read or seen Harry Potter and you're keen, just
just stop listening for ten seconds. Harry Potter should have died.
It's just it's just so clear to me that should
have done.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Yeah, No, definitely, yes, the last book he should have died.
He ends up in this weird place where he's in
purgatory at the endore crucks are the crucks? Yes, it
only makes sense and I think she thought about that.
But yes, yeah, it was a great hot take.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
I like it would complain the need meet the bar
an hot take.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
Okay, finding someone cringe is actually a projection of your
own security rather than the person actually being weird.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Who in the team always finds you cringe?
Speaker 11 (25:42):
I will.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
My god, my god, nobody saw it going that way.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
Woodrow. Yes, now, boys on this show. Thanks for coming on, Jess,
thank you.
Speaker 10 (26:03):
So much for having me. Honestly, like the most amazing
fun and it just feels so wholesome when I get
to chat with you, fellows, and it's just yeah, I
have the best time. I can't wipe the smile of
my head.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
Feelings very mutual, Jess, very mutual.
Speaker 1 (26:20):
I just want to make it so clear to everyone
listening right now that what you hear and what you
see is what you get with Jess Malboy. So the
team was discussing us re recording the show opener. We
were talking about the kind of voices that we'd want
to voice it, and Jess, your name came up immediately
as like a dream voice. We were like, I don't
think we've got a huge budget for this, but like Jesus,
Jess Malboy did it.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
That would be awesome. Jess.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
The whole team has told me since that the interactions
with you were so incredible. You didn't ask for a dollar.
You did this all on your own time free and
for those that happened, I mean you hear it twice
during our radio show.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
But here is a little bit of Jess Maulboys singing
our show opener.
Speaker 11 (26:58):
We got long hair, and weal is bald Buddy doesn't
care when.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
And what.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Will did want to bring up one thing though, just
about the lyrics that you sung.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Yes, Will, I've got hair now, oh, Will's not bald.
I don't blame new Jess, you're a professional. The producers slackers.
They got the updated script they were told and we've
been parting for six months. Will is bald, and now
I've got to do it. Yeah yeah, So now the
(27:34):
problem is, you know, I knows. My favorite part of
being alive is people walking up to me in the
street and going, excuse me, mate, you will from Will
and Woody can't be him.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Because he still still says he's bald in the song.
So and Will is not bald. We've grabbed that and
Will is not bald.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
And I think, and what he's just got normal length hair?
Now I don't.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
Actually have normal length hair.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
There we go. We're workshopping.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
So if you can get back in the studio and
just get that all legit, that'd be amazing.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
Jest, put me back in the studio, do it all again.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
In hindsight, I don't know why our theme song comments
on both of our hairs.
Speaker 4 (28:14):
Well, because different strange thing to be like. It was
the go for anything.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
It was the one thing though that we had, which
was everyone always says whose will, Who's woody? It was
our one thing.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Now identify now.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
Bold now is bald and she doesn't care.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
We're just from our brand, from our brand to your brand.
Speaker 11 (28:40):
Though.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Let' let's talk about you, mate.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
So the story of me to heading to Brisbane, Hobart,
Cambridge Along and Melbourne. Tickets on sale now if you
want to go and see Jess. This is like a
musical storytelling journey from from you and your life.
Speaker 5 (28:54):
It really is.
Speaker 10 (28:55):
And like and people who have been to my previous shows, like,
I'm really cutting out the full intensity of the production
and the lights and it's really you know, think of
it as a spotlight me being able to share images
and and video footage of the things that people didn't
get to see. And I think it's just like re
kind of imagining the classic stuff inspiration from like Disney.
(29:19):
There's a moment where I dedicate a classic Disney song
and I and I sing it and I perform it
and it changes, it changes here and there.
Speaker 5 (29:28):
But I.
Speaker 10 (29:30):
Just love that I get to be really fluid and
have that kind of banter with the crowd and have
some like comedy and humor. Everyone has to have a
break because they have to like top up there, the meter,
the car meter. I'm kidding, I'm kidding, No, it's it's.
Speaker 8 (29:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (29:49):
No, I've really condensed the showdown. I did a bit
of a teaser in twenty twenty five and that kind
of ran for like almost three hours, so I was like,
I can't have a three hour show.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
There's just no yeah, long journey story.
Speaker 10 (30:03):
You know what surprised me that nobody moved, like, no
one got up and left like normally, like you see
kind of people just like wondering and they're like okay
when you know, looking at the time, and but everyone
was literally still in their seats. And yeah, so I
have condensed the show a little bit more, and it
is it does surprise me because I get to also
(30:25):
not just play myself, but I guess re enact moments
and people within my life over the years who've built
that pathway for me to do what I'm doing today.
So very warm, very just like big, heartfelt, and yes
I do sing, I won't I will sing.
Speaker 8 (30:47):
I will sing eventually.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
That would be a real pivot if you're like and
no singing, just the conversation. It's just it's a lot
of interpretive dance that's all silent.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
A bit of a change of pace now though you
spoke in March on a podcast called Something to talk
About about the body shaming that you face throughout your career.
I'm sure there's be something that you can see in
Jess's show, The Story of Me. Tickets on sale now
and this included comments from people like Kyle and Australian
Idol saying to lose the jelly belly. How did you
deal with that, particularly as a young woman entering the
(31:21):
music industry in the two thousands, And has it slowed
down now?
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Is it still going now? And how's it make it?
Speaker 10 (31:28):
Yeah, it's you know, it hasn't kind of crept into
my life. I think what really surprised me the most
was are the people's reaction towards and they're hurt towards
the comment being made. You know, I kind of stepped
into that light and decided, well, I'm again talking about
safe spaces. I will be that safe space. I will
(31:49):
be you know, still have the desire and passion to
make music, and that's that was always on the forefront
of my mind, was that if I'm doing that, if
I'm writing it, and then I'm going out to perform it,
then nothing else matters, like and if that is exciting
people and that is putting people in space of like
(32:10):
reflectiveness and kindness and wanting to be a good person,
then that's all I want to.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Do in life.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
I mean, there are probably people listening now that may
have body shamed a public figure over the years, most
likely on social media. And do you have a message
to anyone who would still comment on things like that?
Speaker 10 (32:32):
You know, I think for people who struggle with their
body is to create an environment for yourself, you know
that is positive, that is confident, you know, whether that
is following people that are also in that space, perhaps
maybe not following the people that kind of make you
(32:53):
feel shame. Create those boundaries for yourself for people who
are being that person and being the bully and creating
that negative space. I think, really look at yourself, I think,
and I say that with such nervousness because I also
know your life. I don't know where you've been and
how you've been challenged, And I just think, step back
(33:15):
and worry about you, you know, worry about your lane,
and I think that'll get you to a very much
more positive space and maybe healing as well.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Well, said Jess love that you are the queen of empowerment,
such a good.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Just like this, Just in case you thought that wasn't
the case, she was in the middle of the MCG
singing with Snoop Dog like it just doesn't just doesn't
get any cool, It doesn't get any cooler. It wouldn't
be a just malboy interview with that you're singing. We
heard the other day Harry Styles forgot lyrics to his
song Cherry during your show recently, you had to ask
(33:55):
a fan anyway, I.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
Didn't know the first line. Guitar lost the first line
and had to ask someone.
Speaker 8 (34:03):
To know that so hard I feel I feel har.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
You feel like it happened to you before on stage, Jess.
Speaker 10 (34:09):
Oh so many times.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
And you know when it happens.
Speaker 10 (34:13):
It's when I've looked someone in the eye.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
You get lost.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
So we've got we've got some iconic songs that you
should definitely know.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
Okay, are you ready? I know?
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Okay, all right, So we're going to give you a
little bit of lead in and then the song will
stop and you just have to keep singing. Okay, you're
just now boys, So there's no backing track right. I
hope you're warmed up. Here we go, first song. You
might be made with these guys.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
Maybe maybe there we go.
Speaker 5 (34:49):
Let you down.
Speaker 11 (34:52):
This so untouched right now. I need you so much.
Somehow I can receiss you. It's not enough to say
that I miss you.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
Don well well done, very good.
Speaker 6 (35:11):
That's just so hard, guys, my brain is like hurting.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Don't worry this next one.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Know that was your auditioning song for your first Australian
idol twenty years ago, so you should know the words.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
I don't really need to look very much, father.
Speaker 5 (35:28):
I don't want to have to go.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Well you.
Speaker 11 (35:33):
I won't hold this back again, this passion inside I
can't run from myself.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
There's no word to her. We don't make make a
class one mother.
Speaker 10 (35:48):
I think that's what it is.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Yeah, very good, well done. Hey, that's not fair. You
can't spring Whitney on someone without a warm up.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
That was very that was cruel, that was really cruel.
You are the most beautiful person. You are jes maw boy.
We got a wonderful story. We love you. If you're
only go and see Jess. The Story of Me tour
is heading to Brisbane and Hobart, Cambridge Along and Melbourne.
Tickets are on sale now if you want to go
and see the Wonderful Woman performing all of her songs
a it's a five hour show.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
Get the overnight babysitter if you're going.
Speaker 12 (36:29):
Thanks, Jesz, we love you. We're talking love letters yesterday.
I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
This is just the job though, isn't it. You see
something you go I might look like a bit of
a deal here, but it's.
Speaker 4 (36:46):
A beautiful thing about you, vulnerable.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
So just just to confirm you have been sent by
a woman a love letter that you sent her when
you were both fourteen years old. Yes, good sign that
she's kept it. I think this is going to be
a pretty hot letter. Not every letter gets kept. I
get the feeling that this was in a binder with
(37:10):
a binder.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
Yeah, well this is I.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
Mean, this girl was definitely you had a bit of
a deliance with this girl at some stage and her sister,
I believe, But no one was saying this is.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Not about me. You cannot put the torch on me.
This is about you.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
So yeah, so the letter that I wrote her this was, Yeah,
we were fourteen, she was on a camp. If you're like, oh, yes, yes, yes,
she went away at her school, went away from.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Were you dating her? Not at all? Okay, so you
just pen poal, never got close.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Deep in the friend zone and trying really desperately hard
to just have some sort of connection.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
Classic you, I would say, and you always go to
the power of the pen that might mightier than.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
The sor yeah, yeah, yeah, you always knew you had.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
I don't know when I ever thought I could be
a writer, because the writing's awful, but it's funny, but
it's also pretty funny, and I think everyone will.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
Have a bit of a luck at my expense. You
mind if I set the scene a little bit. This
is a love letter.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
Do you mind if we you know, just here we go.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
I God, it's really tragic.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
It's really like, it's quite like my heart really breaks
for teenage me because I'm trying really hard and this
is really embarrassing. Save So just think about teenage me
when I'm reading.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
No one's judging you. Okay, A hey, sal.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
It's Will mcmahonton, full stop, full name, could be any
other world.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
You're right, gotta go full name. Surprisedly didn't go middle night.
I thought I'd write you a letter just to see
how you're going. How you are just the letter? Are going? Yeah, cool,
very cool? So dot dot dot how are you going? Lol?
Oh exclamation mark bad stuff.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
That's my teenage boys coming through as well.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
A little test you bot.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Life's all right in Melbourne, but sometimes I wish I
was on a camp like you, just just to get
away from it all.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Oh been much for fourteen year old. Will the big
smoke just get him out of the city. It's too loud,
you know, question mark?
Speaker 3 (39:20):
Not much happening, full stop contry. Are you going to
the races this year?
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Question? Nice? Nice change of pace. I'm pumped. Loll exclamation
mark loll. Yeah, it's lots of killing me. I know,
it's really it's really, this is actually really having me.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
I hope you're doing Bronze Medallion camp again next year.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
You are going for everything, aren't you. You want to
go to the camp. You hope she's going to the races.
You hope you Dow is just just going for everything mate.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Last year was pretty fun.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Do you remember on our testing day and we were
all about to do the run Swin Run and we
were on the starting line together singing that song relaxed.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
Don't do it?
Speaker 3 (40:04):
Oh? No, question mark, loll exclamation mark.
Speaker 4 (40:09):
That's getting a bed storkery. That was so funny. Alamation mark. Oh,
that's real storkery.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
Summer should be great. Exclamation mark. I just can't wait.
Exclamation mark.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Oh how did she not burn this in news?
Speaker 4 (40:24):
Up there? Question mark? Oh, how are your classes going?
Oh god?
Speaker 1 (40:33):
Twenty bucks says you didn't remember the song singing By
the way, did you ever assume you.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
Didn't get a letter back? By the way, But I've
told my friend Will that I would write to you.
He thinks that's pretty cool.
Speaker 9 (40:45):
Lol.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Exclamation mark again, he's the funniest guy. Exclamation mark. Well,
I G two g oh, hope you right back full stop?
Speaker 4 (40:57):
See you later, love, Will. It's just and you never
heard from her again? Just I can't yeah, oh god,
oh god.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Yeah, it's as bad as it gets.
Speaker 4 (41:13):
Sorry, it's just been an honest freend here like that is.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
But sure like didn't you read that one back and
go I'm going to go from the top. No, man,
you were happy with that center you were, yeah, center
and so and you and you never you never received
a letter back?
Speaker 3 (41:29):
No, well not until now, not until what twenty years
twenty two years later She.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
Looking at picture and you're sitting on red for twenty
two years.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
It's savage, savage. Was this the song you were on that?
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Yeah? Lo Lo so funny, Lo Long come a wait
for summer Long anyway, what's happening
