you what I tumbled into the pit of despair. I
don't know, Bush, it's a hot move. It's a hot move.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
I don't mean to bring up a negative. I think
this is the worst we've ever done it, the worst.
I think we've only got one right out of everyone.
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (06:43):
As a poor one?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Can I think?
Speaker 2 (06:46):
Have we changed your microphone or the cracking technique or something.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
I did say before? We've got two. We've got two
cam which is still incredibly like I did. I clipped
my fingernails today, which can.
Speaker 2 (06:57):

Speaker 4 (06:59):
But again, you ready to go?
Speaker 6 (07:01):
I'm alright, Le, How.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Are you feeling? Leanne like? You're the last player today?
I'm going to call it. You're the last player. You've
heard the last twenty minute. It's been abysmal.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
I hope I can do better than everyone else.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
We hope, so, Leanne, We really hope.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
So I'm convincing, does it?
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Are you gonna Are you gonna do well? Leanne?
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Convince me, yes, I'm going to do well here at.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Least at least it's with one here.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
It is.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Soda.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
Oh my god. But it'll be back next week.
Speaker 11 (07:45):
We will.
Speaker 7 (07:50):
By fire.
Speaker 11 (07:52):
Season three of the HBO original series House of the
Dragon premierees Monday only on HBOS.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Okay, very glad, analyst has been removed from that opener.
It wasn't elm I telling us to sacrifice something by
burning it, because it didn't it had no malice in
it words. This is actually quite a malicious thing that
we're doing. We're asking you, guys thirteen one oh six five,
to nominate something that you would like to sacrifice, and
(08:20):
it's a it's a legit sacrifice. We will be setting
that thing on fire. We will be burning it. There
is a pyrotechnics crew that will be down there. There's
probably a flame throw I've had to organize the fire
brigade to come down. It's all very We've got the
permit permits for all the permits. No, I've had a
couple of permits that have missed subsuberf so yes.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
Not with us, No, never with us.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
But we are a well drilled unit. I will be
holding the flamethrower.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
No, I will, Yes, I will be.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
I've been talking to a lot of people about that.
I'll be holding the flamethrower. Currently in the lead. We
have got Kelly.
Speaker 7 (08:52):
So.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Kelly currently has the ten grand because she is willing
to sacrifice her personal diaries from when she was a
kid wrapped up in her wedding dress. That's a great
little package. Let's go to Chantell here. Chantelle, you think
you've got something more sentimental to you that you are
willing for us to burn?
Speaker 9 (09:11):
Yep, I do.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
What is it?
Speaker 8 (09:14):
So?
Speaker 9 (09:14):
When I was growing up, I was passionate about playing
the trumpet. I want a lot of competitions and stuff
with the town band. And then when I got to
high school, I got bullied hardcore for it. Apparently it's
not the coolest thing to do.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
Yeah, sorry to hear that, Chantel. It is jealous. It's
just jealous, Chantel.
Speaker 9 (09:32):
Go on, Yeah, jealous of my skills.
Speaker 6 (09:35):
I guess.
Speaker 9 (09:37):
So I've kept that trumpet all these years, because I'm
actually quite gutted that I stopped doing it over some bullies.
So it wouldn't really be burning the trumpet. It would
be burning the regret of giving up a passion I
had just because of what people thought.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
Got a little bit of undertone to it.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
It's a good sell though. I think it was a
great selk. So I can hear your emotion.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
There, Chantell. So you want us to put that trumpet
in flames?
Speaker 2 (10:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Put it to rest?
Speaker 4 (10:05):
All right? Interesting, Chantel, thank you. Let's got a Nick.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Trump melt melt just a scientific question.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
We need to melt the metal, which they have to
get very hot. And I don't know. I mean, I'm
mean in touch with the pirotechnics company, but I'm getting
told to move on. Nick on thirteen six five. Nick, boys, I.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Have something that's not just a value to me, but
of value to everyone arguably, and that is a three
hundred year old piece of English literature. It's an old
old book, first edition, only edition. There's very few copies
left of it.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
On the gold neck.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
It is called the genuine Works in verse and prose
of the right Honorable George Granville, first Baron lansdown.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
That's a real mouthful. It's a real mouthful.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Well, a genuine the first edition. The genuine works in
pros of.
Speaker 1 (11:01):
Who I Mate, I lost enough for the first two.
Their marketing team needs to sort that out. Nick, Why
have you got that book?
Speaker 3 (11:08):
My grandfather brought it across from the UK. Give it
my father, give it to me. I was going to
give it to my kids.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
But you know, burn it.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
I can tell you what.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Your kids will definitely prefer ten grand over an old
book that no one knows the title.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
I'm having a look at this now.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
There's very few copies of this thing left in the world.
It was written.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
It looks like I can pick one up on Amazon
seventeen thirty two. It was written, Nick, Yeah, you might
not have the first edition.
Speaker 4 (11:37):
There though, that much telling you right now.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I can definitely pick one up for twenty three dollars
ordered before fight all right before seven o'clock tonight. Amazon's amazing.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Hold the line, Nick, hold the line, I don't reckon
that's first edition. That's my first edition, Mate, that's.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
Got Louis here, So Max for the Louise. What would
you like to burn? It's got to be sentimental? Towards you,
Louise currently, Look, I still think it's the personal diar
is in the wedding dress. What have you got to
offer us, Louise.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
Well mine my wedding album.
Speaker 4 (12:10):
Oh and in all the photos? Yeah, are you still
with Hobby?
Speaker 7 (12:15):
I'm not.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
But the photos capture emotions of loved ones on the
day for the kids to look back on.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Woh any digital backups of these?
Speaker 2 (12:25):
Lowis?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
No is the only These are the only photos of
your wedding and you're willing to throw them into a fire?
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Yeap?
Speaker 5 (12:32):
And I might even put the video in as well.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
What do you hell she is going? Luise? Let's go
to Julianne. Julianne, what are you willing to sacrifice for
ten thousand dollars?
Speaker 4 (12:45):
Julianne?
Speaker 9 (12:46):
Oh?
Speaker 12 (12:46):
Hi oh?
Speaker 5 (12:48):
I have love letters from somebody in the war in
nineteen forties and they're very close to my heart. They
were my aunties. There's about thirty letters that I was
going to give them to the war memorial. Oh there's
potos and everything.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Oh, this feels wrong. That's a piece of I don't
know if I have no.
Speaker 5 (13:16):
I have fourteen grandchildren that I need to care for.
I have a kind of kidney disease. I need ten
thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Okay, Julienne, Okay, Auntie letters?
Speaker 1 (13:25):
Yeah, so did you Auntie end up marrying the guy
that she was writing love letters to in the wall?
Speaker 6 (13:31):
No?
Speaker 5 (13:32):
No, the letters stopped.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Letters stop.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
You could easily write fascinating.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
Fascinating, Julianne, appreciate itank.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
You, Julianne, all right, she will.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
That was loaded.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
I think that it is sentimental, though we can't. I
can't conscionably burn is this house to the dragon man,
I need to, you need to. You need to put
your pants on, to put your big boy pants on.
We're burning something sentimental. This is what this whole bit's about. Yeah,
we can't be getting feeling guilty about this, but I
don't do that.
Speaker 4 (14:08):
And how the dragon let us.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
I imagine the poor bugger who's in the trenches writing
these things and we're going to burn them.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
He's dead. I'm sorry. This is this house of the.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
It's all about death, and they do it very well
with me. They do that, and after the Dragon they
do a bit of that.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
But also the wedding album I think is interesting.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
The only photos from a wedding that that's that's that's
as she said, it captures an emotion.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
I think I don't think she gives it.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
Well, you want the three hundred year old book. No,
you want to keep Kelly. You don't think anything bad Kelly.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Look to be honest, I think let's stay with Kelly.
I want to go with Julian, but it's just I can't.
I'm going to like I think we're going to get
haunted for that. That's the sort of thing you get
haunted for. You're going to get haunted. You be haunted.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
I want to be haunted.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
No, well that's strange.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Now, okay, so we're staying with Kelly.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Think, okay, this works, guys, we don't I think there
was anything more sentimental than Kelly.
Speaker 7 (15:10):
You reckon.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
I think it's all right, Well, let's go the photos.
Speaker 11 (15:15):
What his choice spirits Juliet, and we're going the photos
for nineteen forty the love letter? Y really well for
now you've now you're currently in the league, but we've
got a whole week of this next week, so someone
might beat you to the punch.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Oh, I can't see how nineteen forties really.
Speaker 11 (15:34):
You've already sold again, Thank you so much, been very good.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
And we're risking Haunting.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
Season three. The HBO original series House the Dragon premieeres
Monday only on HBO Max Woods. Yesterday I spoke at
length about some chairs that I bought and we're done
with that. Promised that I would be done. Now I've
got to bring it up again. No, for your sakes,
I think you're going to have a laugh. I think
you're going to have a laugh. Will you. Guys have
been part of this all week, deciding which character or
(16:02):
who what he's going to become for this date.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
I want to be the sexiest character possible.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
I want to I want to blow my wife's mind
when I walk into that restaurant and meet her for
the first time ever. So again, thank you to all
your suggestions. We have got it down to two. It's
either vampire or ice hockey player. Yes, we put this
as a pole up on our socials on Instagram.
Speaker 4 (16:27):
Sexy. You've got the results of that pole between vampire
and ice hockey player?
Speaker 2 (16:32):
What is it I do?
Speaker 13 (16:33):
It's actually between three, it's Fireman, vampire and ice hockey player.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Okay, what were the results like?
Speaker 2 (16:39):
So fire Man dead last?
Speaker 4 (16:41):
Yeah, Okay, that's good. That's good. We didn't like Fireman.
We didn't like it.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Most people say fireman. And then in second we've got vampire.
Speaker 9 (16:48):
All right, amazing.
Speaker 6 (16:50):
Third we've got the ice hockey Player, which is actually
fifty percent of people thought you should do ice hockey player.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
There you go. That's interesting. That's interesting because the over
on the analogs, on the text line, yes, this also
went a few different ways.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Okay, so.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
It was it actually they look, I don't know where
so hockey player came in at thirty one percent. Oh whoa, oh, whoa,
oh whoa. Yeah, Vampire came in at sixty seven percent.
Speaker 4 (17:25):
Whoa, hang on, hang on a second.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Out of nowhere, that's two percent, suggested Ellen. De generous,
very good. I've had nothing to do with that. No,
but so, so vampire takes the cake?
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Well hang on, well so hang on, but so but
didn't not on socials, didn't ice hockey player win?
Speaker 4 (17:43):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Well yeah, so it's a it's it's yeah. I don't
know how many how many? How many people voted on
on the on the poll, Dart, how many texts do
we have? Button busher tell me thirteen?
Speaker 7 (17:55):
Can't be honesty?
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Well, god, this was supposed to so we also had
that text. That next text there as well. Oh there
was a suggestion for a vampire hockey player.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Oh, I think it's convoluted. My wife is, she's it's funny.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
I didn't bring this up at home with my wife
at all, because the whole thing was like, let's surprise
each other.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
She's obviously across it. She she's heard it, and she
was like, she's like, this is all.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
It's great. Fine, you're doing that to find your character.
She's like, I want more sexy than silly. So like,
you know, take it seriously. So my question would be, then,
given that the pole has not helped us at all
because the socials went against the text line, I think
vampire might be creeping on silly more than ice hockey players.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Oh well, analysts got a bit to say about that, analyst.
Vampires aren't silly, mate, people take them seriously.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Don't you dare say that about tell you.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
But like in his world, in his world, like sure,
vampires are serious, but vampires don't exist.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
I'm sorry to break it to you, hockey player fad,
it's a fad.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
Vampire time timeless.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
I get that, but I'm not planning on being an
ice hockey player for the rest of my life with
my wife.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
It's just for one night, so I could. I think
I should lean in.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
But that might be a meme in the future, or
is a vampire won't ever be a meme?
Speaker 4 (19:07):
Oh yeah, do what you will.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
You're the other king of sex, as you often say
amongst friends.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
What do you reckon between ice hockey player.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
And for me? For me? I mean you said before
she doesn't want it to be silly, Yes, right, Nothing
is sillier to me the new rocking up to a
restaurant in roller blades with nick and a helmet.
Speaker 11 (19:34):
So I reckon it's gotta be the vampire.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
I'm going to way too excited, way too excited, all right,
we'll find out next week.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
To celebrate so much.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
I just want to finish off something I have been
speaking about. A chair, two chairs, two arm chairs. We've
got to wrap up chair that I had to that
I had to return.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
We've got to wrap up to you spoke about chairs
for twenty five minutes.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
I think we've had enough chair chat for the whole quarter.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I just think everyone's going to enjoy what I have
to say about the chairs now because everyone has enjoyed
me suffering. Basically got the chairs too big, tried to
send them back, got told that in order to send
them back, I had to dismantle them and individually wrap.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
Each piece of chair with thirty thirty meters a glad
wrap already a glad rap.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Don't forget. We also received that text message from that
person who said I prefer Will McMahon sitting on chairs
rather than talking about them. It was brutal feedback, brutal
life feed and hence pretty courageous for me to bring
back not even a day later.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
How angry is that person right now?
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Told we lost, we lost, we lost a listener, There's
no doubt about that. But I've just given how much
I have bent, banged on about this and given them.
It has taken me three days to individually wrap each
piece of chair. Yeah, yeah, and then send them off.
You seemed courier. I had to courier them back.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah, but you did this morning. Yes, you seemed relieved today.
It felt like a weight was off your shoulders and
it felt like the chairs we're out of They're out
of the house.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
I'm done with them, thank god. Yes, and then you're
already laughing because you know what this is about. Woods.
But the person who has enjoyed this more than any
of you bastards who have been laughing at me about
this is my wife Sem. She has loved this. She's
loved every second of it. And today today she's having
a tough day at home with the kids, but she
called me just to tell me how much she's enjoying
(21:22):
this final little cherry on the cake of the chair chat.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
I could hear her laughing at you through the fune unbelievable.
Speaker 8 (21:32):
Hello, oh, hello, hello.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
He I was just calling n to cover off him
for what his sake. The thing that arrived in the
mail that.
Speaker 7 (21:52):
You felt very funny, we didn't know.
Speaker 1 (21:57):
Well, I've got somewhat like some wind of it.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
We're going to get this over with because I know
you're going to laugh about it at some stage, so
get it done with.
Speaker 12 (22:06):
He went to the supermarket to extra glad rep came back,
realized that one.
Speaker 8 (22:12):
Role wasn't enough. They was like, oh, I got to
get you bunnies because I've got.
Speaker 12 (22:15):
To get like plastic bags. And I said, I'm like,
you just got to get these heavy judy large bin bags.
Speaker 8 (22:22):
He comes back with kitchen tidy bags.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
Lemons, you idiots, you idiot, god, go on, go.
Speaker 8 (22:30):
On, that didn't fit. I think he had to put
four bags open, cut them open on the side, like
one cushion times forty. Anyway, it is so he's been
doing this Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday morning. We had
these countings here with Sage and he's still while we
have this jet, he's still rapping these lemons. Sent a
(22:53):
tidy bags, writing bloody freeloads.
Speaker 12 (22:56):
And then on the way out, he goes, oh, sir,
I've got a package. I don't really know what it is.
So I'm like, so, I say the megs. I'm like, Max,
guy's got a package. You want to He's said, yeah, yeah, yeah,
and she unwraps two massives plastic heavy judy bags from
this company.
Speaker 8 (23:15):
Turns out they sent you the bags.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
It was all for nothing. It was they provide a
very large bag that you just throw over the top
and you on your porch.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
What a great company, what a well thank you.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
We've all had a good time. Yeah, because normally I'm
on top, I'm killing it, so.
Speaker 12 (23:45):
Yeah, but you know, this is a great thing.
Speaker 8 (23:48):
You were so happy with your.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah, he was texting me to texting me photos being like,
how good is this?
Speaker 7 (23:56):
Look?
Speaker 2 (23:56):
A shot up?
Speaker 7 (24:00):
All right?
Speaker 8 (24:01):
Will? I mean that's what you know how to do?
Speaker 12 (24:04):
I love you for it?
Speaker 2 (24:05):
Send me quick question for you before you go. Question.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
She knew it was going to do it to her
so much as.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Would throw the easily the most advertising we've ever had
in our careers, and yeah, has happened recently. Yeah, never
created the billboards. But we are in every chemist ware
house all over the country at the moment, and.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
Like every aisle, like ten times an aisle, and then
some big ones at the start of each aisle, and
then magazines that you can grab on your seeing all
the great deals in chemist ware has get in there.
You pay less for prescriptions, et cetera, et cetera a bit.
But I genuinely love Chemists Warehouse and to be promoted
in Chemists ware House is truly a dream come true.
I went in there the other day. I was actually
(24:57):
a little bit devastated. I kept asking all the workers
for help with things. None of them said anything. Oh you,
I was like, excuse me, where's the hydra item? They
didn't mention it, And you were hoping that they'd say,
you're the guy from the billion posters that are around here.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
They didn't say anything.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Oh I didn't say it.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
I even took my hood off at one point. I
took my hood off and I was like, you know.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
I'm right here. Well look we own e have a
chemist whare house. And again it's not a sponsored bit,
it's because we're doing some stuff with Gotcha for Life.
We actually got approached by Gus walland who's if you
have a look in chemist Warehouse. He's the other super
trim young guy who's in the photo with us.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
I wouldn't keep it.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Together there, Gussie keep it together And he's on the
phone now to talk a bit more about it.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Gussie, thanks for coming on the show.
Speaker 6 (25:45):
I was keeping it together and who you said? Young
and trim and you're just back of the absolute mickey there.
But I actually went into Chemists Warehouse in Paramatta in
Sydney to that and I didn't exactly the same thing.
I went, Hi, how are you going? Just wondering if
I could you could show me where the foodth paste is? Yes,
And they're like yeah, just down here, and I'm like, yeah,
you sort of recognize me, like I'm on twenty posters
(26:07):
literally as far as you can see. But no one
stopped at me either, So you're a little disappointed.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
And you look like a bit of a freak, don't you.
Speaker 1 (26:13):
You know, because I kept standing there and pausing, just
waiting for them to have the moment, and then they're like,
is that it, sir?
Speaker 6 (26:21):
Awkwardly move on exactly. No, it's great. I mean it's lovely.
We had a lot of fun doing the shoot, and
it's nice to see that the posters now and Chemist
Warehouse for got your full life my charity. We've been
going ten years. I've been with us right from the start,
and I just could not do the work we do
without them. And then when Blake's like you come on
and say I'm happy to help, it's it's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
So thank you boys, Well thanks for inviting us.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Gus.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Yeah, it's always been awesome ever since we sort of
met you and started talking about this stuff. I mean,
we speak to a lot of people in this space,
but I think you, of all the people talking about
particularly men's mental health, I think speak better than anyone
I've heard in the country or in the world. To
be honest, I reckon you continually hit the nail on
their head and you speak with the way in a
way that's super approachable, but also you know, it gets
(27:08):
down to the core of it. And I think that
probably kicked off, well, your journey kicked off with it
when a maid of yours actually took his own life.
Is that right?
Speaker 6 (27:17):
Yeah, that's right. Yes, It's gone on over twenty years now,
and I did nothing about it for many, many years
to eventually I was on another radio station's breakfast show
here in Sydney, and I was brave enough one morning
to say to my co host, hey, guys, we need
to talk about something that's not just footy and fun
and giving away tickets and all the stuff that we did.
Could we talk about something that has been troubling me
(27:39):
for a long time. And the boys one hundred cents
supported me, and from that moment on we had ninety
minutes of phone calls, people phoning into the show going
me too. You know, I've had a problem with my family,
my school, my sports club. And I realized how many
people are out there, boys that are worrying alone, and
there'll be people listening to us now that are worrying
alone about something. And we've got to be better at
(27:59):
being a little bit vulnerable, seeing vulnerability as a as
a strength. Because we've been fed to lie us men
for so long now that we need to man up
and shut up. It's ready timed now to man up
and speak up.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Hey, guys, can I talk to you specifically about that,
your friend, if you don't mind, who took your life
twenty years ago? Because it is I think the specifics
of the story when you when I first heard it's
really rattled me because he was something that you knew
very very well, and then you had no idea that
this was going on with him, which is so often
the case, and particularly someone as emotionally intelligent and as
(28:33):
empathic as you are. And then was it right that
after he did it, you'd seen that he'd actually circled
the date in his diary from a long way out.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
Yeah. Yeah, he took his own life on the day
that his third and final child finished their HC in Sydney,
which is the year twelve exams, and he left drinks.
I went up to the pub where Henry was celebrating
with his mates, gave him fifty bucks to make sure
you saved ten of the fifty to get home safely
and by everyone else a drink, and yeah, we never
(29:03):
saw him again alive, and a thousand people at his
funeral a couple of weeks later, all of us sitting
there going did you have a clue? Did you have
any idea? And we didn't because he wore that mask
so tight and so many men do the same thing.
We just have been sold this lie that we need
(29:26):
to handle everything together. And boys, you heard me speak
before it. It doesn't mean we burst into tears every
five minutes or have big, deep and meaningful conversations all
the time. But we should be able to have something
in our arsenal, in our chat, to be able to say, hey,
I need your help. I'm going through a bit of
a tough time. And that's proper friendship, that's proper love.
That's what you two have been able to give each other,
(29:47):
as well as all the last But that's the really
important stuff. That's the stuff that you'll remember, that's the
real stuff.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
I need to add lifeline number. It's thirteen eleven fourteen
Lifeline Austraias available twenty four hours. If this conversation raised
anything for you, it's always emotional, it's always great to
talking you, Gus, I think there's lots of questions. I
think that a lot of people have about this because
it's a big problem.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
And Gussie, we did a lunch last week together, not
just a social lunch. We spoke at a lunch about
mental fitness and about you know, going through tough times
and whatnot. And something that was raised in that which
I think you had a really great answer for, was
the fact that some people will challenge you and say
that we're still losing that men and women as well
(30:27):
are still taking their lives and the numbers are still
terrifyingly high.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
And I think you had a great response to that.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
Yes.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Yeah, for the people that don't know, seven men a
day and two women a day, so that's nine Aussies
that woke up this morning won't wake up tomorrow and
they would have taken their own life. And every eight
minutes in this country someone attempts and most of those
are women. So it's not a men's issue, it's a
real human issue. And I did get challenged at a
dinner a couple of weeks before our lunch last week
(30:54):
by a guy who said, look, what's the point mate?
You know you're working hard, you're doing your best. I
get that, But you know, what's the point of the
work that you're doing? And I said to him, well,
imagine what the numbers would be if we weren't doing
what we did, if all these other great organizations out
there having a crack, weren't doing and weren't working hard
and weren't trying to do their best. So, yeah, I
didn't like that question. I didn't like where it came from,
(31:16):
but I sort of understood it, and I certainly hoped
I put him back in his box. And the blokes
at his table had to do that for me. Actually,
they went, he you know, everyone's having a crack and
doing the right thing here, let's give each other a
better space and a little bit of respect.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
So practically speaking, Gus, in terms of doing your bit,
you guys have got the mental Fitness Gym which is
up online. So where can people go if they're hearing this?
Obviously the lifeline numbers thirteen eleven, fourteen if you need
to speak to someone now, But if this is something
that you really want to work on your own mental fitness,
where do they go?
Speaker 6 (31:48):
Yeah, there's a couple of different things. If you go
to Gotcha for life dot org all the informations there.
But we do have a completely free mental fitness gym
app which you can get it wherever you get your apps.
That's completely free and that gives you sort of exercises
for your mental fitness, your emotional muscle, that gives it
to you every single day. You can get as much
information as you like there, So that's a complete free
being in something. I love your listeners to download and
(32:10):
have a look at. But you know what the most
important things boys is actually finding your village. Working out
who are the people in your life that you love
and adore and you can't imagine living without. Write a
list down of those people and then send them all
a text message saying, hey, I'm thinking of you. I
never want you to worry alone. Start a relationship that's
a little bit deeper than the banter that we tend
to have and where we're comfortable. The reason we feel
(32:32):
uncomfortable talking about this stuff because we don't practice it.
So we need to start practicing with the people that
you love. Fake it to your make it with whoever
else you want to. But the people that you love,
they should really know what's going on in your life,
and you boys doing your show and showing that vulnerability
will certainly help your listeners. We need more people doing that,
but as I said, we live in banter. That's great,
(32:53):
but it's great to have the skill to have a
deeper combo as well.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Hey, Gussie, zign else that we did at lunch last
week which I thoroughly loved is you get everyone to
take their phone out. And I know people are driving
right now, so it might be difficult. You might be
able to use Siri to do this, but you get
your phone out and Gus, you effectively say to someone
that you may haven't spoken to for a while that
you love them and you miss him. That's it, And
I just wanted to let you know, Gussie, so I
(33:17):
sent that message to the best man at my wedding.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
He's just had his third kid.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
I've had my second kid, and you know, life's gotten
the way and I hadn't seen it as much as
I wanted to. We caught up with it for a
beer on Saturday night and it was awesome because I'd
written that message.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
It was just like broke through that initial wall.
Speaker 1 (33:33):
That guys have got up where you can't get so
as soon as I saw him, big hug, you know that,
I love you to each other, and it felt like
it was two am, but it was only four in
the afternoon.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I had exactly the same thing. If that Len sent
a message. I had the most beautiful phone call from
the guy that I messaged. I hadn't spoken to him
in about six months. And maybe everyone should do that.
When you get home tonight, do the same thing. Find
someone you find, particularly a guy, because they're probably not
the person you'd message, because it feels a bit weird
doing it with him. I love you, I miss you,
and just see what happens. And I think that's what
Gussie's talking about. Find a way to get below the band,
(34:07):
to find a way to connect which is softer, gentle,
more open, and you only got it only gets better
from there. I know it feels a bit's scary. Yeah
that's good.
Speaker 6 (34:16):
I couldn't agree with you more. But if people do
get scared, and I get it. You know, to get
physically fit, it's tough to get mentally fit. It's even
tougher because we have to unlearn all the stuff we're
being told and now we have to relearn this new way.
So no one's saying it's easy, but to have that
clinical medical approach is much harder than sending a simple
text message and having a slightly uncomfortable conversation, at least initially.
(34:37):
You know, I would love to have that conversation with
my mate that I'll never get a chance to have.
So don't don't don't just think that everyone's okay. Just
check in on them and be really, really really consistent
with it.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Yeah, it's a beautiful message you're sending, Gussie. You are
doing a wonderful thing, mate, And I know sometimes I
see you and I might jeezy, you look gassed.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
And that's not just because I never think that, Gus.
I always think, jeez, you look fresh, you look fit.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
You're doing the Lord's work, mate, Good on you gotcha
for after all, if you want to go and check
out the website, we want to see Gussie smiling face
with us. We are in every chemist ware house all
over the country now promoting a wonderful thing. So good
on your mate. Great to hear you, Yes mate, Bye,
lady Gussie Bye.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
A lot of people question the maturity of this radio
shut happens all the time.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
I think we had a lot of grief these days
from the producers.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
Yeah, from the producers, I think directly.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
The dude who suggests that perhaps we use our timeline
air to exercise juvenile frat muscles, that we may have
been hardboring someone from high school and we don't feel
like we can tap into it while we're at home
and fathers.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
Exactly right, and I think offense to that one hundred percent.
I take this job incredibly.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
Serious, standing member of the community.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
I am a professional, but Joe, you would agree that
you can be a little bit vigilant when it comes
to the the crass nature of some of the stuff
that we talk.
Speaker 4 (36:05):
About as instructed by the higher ups. Okay, to management.
Speaker 2 (36:10):
You passed the buck on that. Very good.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
Yeah, that's it. That's a handball from me, but just true.
We have and we have heard that for our entire careers.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
If I'm being honest, I want to prove to everyone
that we are very serious professional broadcasters because I'm going
to name I need you will please don't laugh.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
That's kind of humorous.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
Not going to laugh at of me, mate, Okay, good, Now,
what I'm going to do right now.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Is I am going to talk about something which I
think a past me would have found funny, and I
think past you would have found this really funny.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
But let's prove to Australia, let's prove to management, let's
prove to all the producers here that we are better
than that. Easy and we right, look at me, let's go,
let's go, let's go.
Speaker 9 (36:53):
Right.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
I just want to talk about the the name of
the coach who coaches the Curakow national team.
Speaker 4 (36:59):
Okay, now they lost seven to one to Germany.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
I heard about that, Yes, absolutely absolutely pumped.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
Right, they've got a Dutch coach.
Speaker 13 (37:11):
Oh yeah, h his name his name is Dick Advocate
and that is totally normal.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
And in no way I didn't know that was.
Speaker 2 (37:27):
I didn't know I was. I wasn't across.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
That funny that his name is Dick Advocate.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Is it Richard shortened or know?
Speaker 4 (37:34):
He goes by Dick. He was a previous player. Oh,
I just carry how he doesn't he does? He does
an understanding job.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
I think, yeah, and he's a he's an advocate for No, well,
I don't know that, don't don't don't take it that way.
Speaker 4 (37:50):
His name is Dick Advocate.
Speaker 2 (37:51):
That's great, beautiful m hm hm hm hm. Oh yeah,
Dick advocate. He pronounced that.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
Yeah, come on, isn't that Dirk.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
That's Dick.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Dick is a well, it's Dirk is his like legal
name on the birth certificate.
Speaker 4 (38:18):
And then he's chosen the nickname.
Speaker 2 (38:20):
It's a really really common name.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
It goes for Dick.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
It's a really common name. Sam's uncles called Dick Dick advocate. Um, well,
he's a man, so he's probably not against them.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
I've never I've never seen a combination like it he has.
Speaker 1 (38:38):
He has a nickname away from Dick, that is the
Little General.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Just he can't. He can't, and you challenge you thought
I'd be the immature.
Speaker 4 (38:52):
That forgets nicknames.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
The Little General. Alright, he's talking Dick on the Little General.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
Believable, I don't know, not funny, all right, it's really
