Not a lot of time left window shopping, and some
news out about the Buckos. Now we talked about this
in a previous episode of the show. We have an
update to the Mallard monologue of a couple weeks back. So,
after months and months of rampant speculation about the status

of Paul's schemes and his future with Petsburgh Pirates, it
turns out the Superstar picture, according to the latest reports,
is not not on the trading market. The latest report
says there are two players two on the Pirates that

will not be traded. This according to Fox Sports Radio
alumni member former Cincinnati Reds GM and GM for some
other teams as well, Jim Bowden, who said that Paul
Skins and Andrew McCutcheon are the only players the only
ones who are not on the trading block according to

his sources around baseball. He says that one general manager
told him that the relief pitcher David Bednar and Dennis Santana,
both pitchers, are all but gone now. Bednar was in
the minor leagues earlier this year, got some nasty stuff,
but he's been hot and cold, and so they could

be traded together.

Let us discuss the question the Pirates have refused. If
you believe the latest reporting refuse to put Paul Skins

So my take on this, I've got the reverse choke hold,
compass and space junk, and we will combuy all of

I actually did some shows when when Jim worked here
back in the day, and he was a Fox Sports

worked in baseball. He still does stuff around baseball and
all that stuff. But I'm not buying it. The store

years ago. The first rule of the MLB trade deadline

is to not believe anything that is being said on
the record right any media leagues, any of that stuff.
If the irit brass tell you that the sky is blue,
I would check the forecast.

would become the highest pid pitcher in baseball, to the

They haven't changed that much, and so now they want
us to believe that they are.

you know, Sandy Colfax, Bob Gibson, whoever.

Please. This is a classic posturing move, is what it is.

And that's one of those teams that has always treated
any kind of success.

Like a contagious disease.

They're they're not, I would point out, they're not openly
shopping Paul Skins. And the reason they're not doing that
is because they don't have to do that right that
Skeins is stuck in this weird professional wrestling reverse choke
hold where he technically cannot be a free agent until
twenty thirty. Now, as I was told by someone who

works in baseball, the problem for the Pirates is he's
only got one more year before he's arbitration eligible. He's
like pre arbitration right now, and that's where the real
money comes in. So the Pirates, yeah, they could wait
technically and Paul Skeins can't leave until twenty thirty, but
year after year in arbitration, they're gonna have to pay

him twenty twenty five million dollars a year the way
the arbitration market's going. But make no mistake, when the
Dodgers and the Yankees, they come to the door and
they start knocking. They're knocking to the door, or they
they make the phone call and they say, hey, is

this the Pirates. Yeah, it's the Pirates. Yeah, hey, it's
the it's the Dodgers. Can we get our hands on
Paul Skins? Yeah, sure, no problem. They're not going to
hang up on them. They're not going to hang up
on them. And you know, I guess the question is
how many organs are you willing to donate if you're
the Dodgers of the Yankees and you don't shut the
door and all that.

Now someone offers.

Them the Godfather offer, which I'm told is now considered
the one Soto trade the Padres gave the Nationals for
that natitude that that is considered the gold standard. In
my position, a prospect is a suspect until proven otherwise.

then Paul Skins will be getting a new uniform and
he'll be starting at Dodger Stadium or.

believe it, and it's expect the unexpected. Right, Bregman on

He could not get the contract he wanted in the
offseason because there's a lot of stank on Alex Bregman,
because forever he is a cheating ah stro Right, So
Bregman's on a trial run, and by all accounts, he
was playing pretty well. He likes hitting at Finway, and

the team liked him, and they got rid of the
other third baseman to make way for Alex Bregman. But Bregman,
even if he plays well, he's obviously gonna opt out.
But even if he doesn't play well, he'll still likely
opt out and test the market again. The last time Bregman,
last time Alex Bregman was truly relevant, he was begging

on trash cans deep in the heart of Texas in Houston,
like he was auditioning for the Blue Man Group. Okay,
bang bang, whistle whistle. Now the Red Sox have a problem.
They have a compass that is busted. Their trade deadline
compass is busted. So I asked the question, who are

the Red Sox? Are they rebuilding? They've called up a
bunch of young players. Are they just retooling the roster?
Is that why they got rid of Raphael Devers? Are
they rebranding what they are? Do they even know what
they are? It seems like it's clueless the organization. They
don't know what they're doing there. Like at some point,

your lane, it's pick your lane.

the lesson of Alex Verdugo being dumped like trash.

Alex Verdugo was once the crown jewel of the Dodger
minor league system, and I remember reading the scouting reports
when Verdugo was in the minor leagues. This goes back
to like twenty eighteen, I believe it was, and he
was described as one of the best pure hitting prospects
in baseball in years that he had swagger and he

had a bazooka, an absolute cannon for an arm. So
he ended up being traded for Mookie Bets. No less, hey,
Mookie Bets, and so the Red Sox are like, well,
we got this great young outfielder, were made up, were
set up for the future.

Well the lesson.

The lesson is a prospect is a suspect and through
parlas and potential is not promised.

that's a weasel term. It's a whisper. That's how you
say somebody is a prospect.

also have the star dust or they could just turn
out to be space junk. And in this case, it's
space junk. And that's it. Verdugo. Now, don't don't.

He's not terrible, like he's okay. He's not great, he's fine.
And that's the issue. That's the problem. You depend on
these young guys and and oftentimes they turn out to
be a boondoggle where prospects.

If you're one of the top two prospects in baseball
and you're hyped up as a star and you're just
roster spam, something's gone terribly wrong. Verdugo was never that guy.
He wasn't that guy with the Dodgers. He wasn't that
guy in Boston. He wasn't that guy with the Yankees.
He certainly is not that guy in Atlanta. He batted
two thirty nine with the Atlanta Braves. And if you

believe in the winds above replacement stat, the war stat
I had no home runs and a minus zero point
two war which means that he was actually worse when
he was out there than if he hadn't been playing.
So that's how you end up getting fired. Now he'll
he's a carpetbagger. He'll find another opportunity around baseball. He'll

be a fourth or fifth outfielder on another team. How
many jerseys is he going to rack up here? He's
bouncing around. Alex Verduga, have a mediocre bat, have a
pretty good arm and a bad eye at the plate,
and you will travel around Major League Baseball. You're gonna

news out about the Buckos. Now we talked about this
in a previous episode of the show. We have an
update to the Mallard monologue of a couple weeks back. So,
after months and months of rampant speculation about the status

of Paul's schemes and his future with Petsburgh Pirates, it
turns out the Superstar picture, according to the latest reports,
is not not on the trading market. The latest report
says there are two players two on the Pirates that

will not be traded. This according to Fox Sports Radio
alumni member former Cincinnati Reds GM and GM for some
other teams as well, Jim Bowden, who said that Paul
Skins and Andrew McCutcheon are the only players the only
ones who are not on the trading block according to
(03:23):
his sources around baseball. He says that one general manager
told him that the relief pitcher David Bednar and Dennis Santana,
both pitchers, are all but gone now. Bednar was in
the minor leagues earlier this year, got some nasty stuff,
but he's been hot and cold, and so they could

be traded together.

But that's not the story.

Let us discuss the question the Pirates have refused. If
you believe the latest reporting refuse to put Paul Skins
on the trading block, does this close the door to
him being moved between now and the trade.

So my take on this, I've got the reverse choke hold,
compass and space junk, and we will combuy all of
these things together and we were gonna make the Fetichini

is to not believe anything that is being said on

I would check the forecast.

This is the same franchise that traded Garrett Cole, who
would become the highest pid pitcher in baseball, to the

They haven't changed that much, and so now they want
us to believe that they are.

Around Paul Skins And he's the second Coming of U,

Please. This is a classic posturing move, is what it is.

And that's one of those teams that has always treated
any kind of success.

Like a contagious disease.

They're they're not, I would point out, they're not openly
shopping Paul Skins. And the reason they're not doing that
is because they don't have to do that right that
Skeins is stuck in this weird professional wrestling reverse choke
hold where he technically cannot be a free agent until
twenty thirty. Now, as I was told by someone who

works in baseball, the problem for the Pirates is he's
only got one more year before he's arbitration eligible. He's
like pre arbitration right now, and that's where the real
money comes in. So the Pirates, yeah, they could wait
technically and Paul Skeins can't leave until twenty thirty, but
year after year in arbitration, they're gonna have to pay

him twenty twenty five million dollars a year the way
the arbitration market's going. But make no mistake, when the
Dodgers and the Yankees, they come to the door and
they start knocking. They're knocking to the door, or they
they make the phone call and they say, hey, is
(06:56):
this the Pirates. Yeah, it's the Pirates. Yeah, hey, it's
the it's the Dodgers. Can we get our hands on
Paul Skins? Yeah, sure, no problem. They're not going to
hang up on them. They're not going to hang up
on them. And you know, I guess the question is
how many organs are you willing to donate if you're
the Dodgers of the Yankees and you don't shut the
door and all that.

Now someone offers.

Them the Godfather offer, which I'm told is now considered
the one Soto trade the Padres gave the Nationals for
that natitude that that is considered the gold standard. In
my position, a prospect is a suspect until proven otherwise.

then Paul Skins will be getting a new uniform and
he'll be starting at Dodger Stadium or.

Alex Bregman, who's injury coming back from injury.

All right, so I am going to buy this. I
believe it, and it's expect the unexpected. Right, Bregman on
a He's essentially on a dummy.

He could not get the contract he wanted in the
offseason because there's a lot of stank on Alex Bregman,
because forever he is a cheating ah stro Right, So
Bregman's on a trial run, and by all accounts, he
was playing pretty well. He likes hitting at Finway, and

the team liked him, and they got rid of the
other third baseman to make way for Alex Bregman. But Bregman,
even if he plays well, he's obviously gonna opt out.
But even if he doesn't play well, he'll still likely
opt out and test the market again. The last time Bregman,
last time Alex Bregman was truly relevant, he was begging

on trash cans deep in the heart of Texas in Houston,
like he was auditioning for the Blue Man Group. Okay,
bang bang, whistle whistle. Now the Red Sox have a problem.
They have a compass that is busted. Their trade deadline
compass is busted. So I asked the question, who are

the Red Sox? Are they rebuilding? They've called up a
bunch of young players. Are they just retooling the roster?
Is that why they got rid of Raphael Devers? Are
they rebranding what they are? Do they even know what
they are? It seems like it's clueless the organization. They
don't know what they're doing there. Like at some point,

your lane, it's pick your lane.

minor league system, and I remember reading the scouting reports
when Verdugo was in the minor leagues. This goes back
to like twenty eighteen, I believe it was, and he
was described as one of the best pure hitting prospects
in baseball in years that he had swagger and he

had a bazooka, an absolute cannon for an arm. So
he ended up being traded for Mookie Bets. No less, hey,
Mookie Bets, and so the Red Sox are like, well,
we got this great young outfielder, were made up, were
set up for the future.

The lesson is a prospect is a suspect and through
parlas and potential is not promised.

roster spam, something's gone terribly wrong. Verdugo was never that guy.

He certainly is not that guy in Atlanta. He batted
two thirty nine with the Atlanta Braves. And if you

he was out there than if he hadn't been playing.
