that's a thing that that that's a mental advantage that
you no longer have even if you're down by three runs.
I mean, what inning do you walk in thinking let's
get three this inning. But when you have someone like
Kimbroll or Jansen or Hater on the mount, Hey, these
guys are great. Nope, we can get three off these guys.
They like to walk people. They have bouts of wildness
and ineffectiveness. No, we can get three in this inning.

That's hard to get past. It's you look at dominant
closers and they means so much because their specter hangs
over the entire game in the playoffs. So, like we
said last night, the Dodgers big issue this year is
going to be starting pitching, because you go from having
all kinds of great starting pitching too well, when guys
like Gonsla and Anderson are blowing past their career limits

and wind up getting hurt and being ineffective. Uh, you're
not relying on your starters like your thoughts, which means
you gotta rely on your bullpen. And when that's the
guy in the back half of the bullpen, you see
how that domino effect goes and teams come into that
ninth inning going yeah, we can get three in the
ninth there and beat the Dodgers. They are not invincible.
This is not an aid in game. This is not
in the sixth inning. We're already looking ahead seeing him

coming into the ninth and going, how are we gonna
beat this guy? Uh? Yeah, you are really fallible when
you don't have a guy that can close. And this
is a preview of the playoffs for the Dodgers. Well,
think about it. The other day we we celebrated the

Jansen and uh and Hater. Yeah, all three with perfect

certainly played some hypnotic songs to get you to mindlessly

Major League Baseball, there are two quarterbacks who are close
to losing their jobs in the NFL. One may lose
his job halftime on Sunday, and yes, that is Joe Flacco.

The last couple of days have been really interesting. After
the Jets loss opening week to the Ravens, which Joe
Flacco threw the ball eighty nine times and completed four
of them. Uh, Robert sala had to say, yeah, Joe,
we think Joe is gonna be our start. We're leaving
things open. We evaluate things every week. This is a
far cry from Joe's to starting quarterback in this league,

and Joe's our guy. Uh. They had to announce again
today that Flacco is gonna start Week two against the Browns.
He has one half, he has a half, and if
he's bad, and if other things happen, it's gonna be
Mike White. We're gonna be back to Mike White. Mike White,
if I could be Mike White, We're gonna be back
to the Mike White Show. Jan Yes, if we were

to see Mike White come out and lead the Jets
in the second half of this game, would that speak
to the sheer and utter desperation of Robert Sala in

What happened the Cowboys office? Well, I wasn't very good
and Bledsoe was a statue. So by necessity, hey, Romo
has got some escapability. He can get outside the pocket.
Our offensive line stinks. If we put Romo out there,
he'll be able to evade the rush and maybe make
things happen. And then Todd a Pro Bowl career started.

The Cowboys backed into it, but it was a change
made out of necessity. Same thing here. Flacco was a
was a standing target in the pocket last week. That
all kinds of pressure on him because Flacco doesn't move.
So if that's the case again on Sunday, Yeah, the
combo of Flacco not being the he once was, but
more so that if he's gonna stand in the pocket

and get sacked, Mike White, who's got a little bit
more athleticism, a little bit more escapability, gets rid of
the football a little bit faster. Yeah, he's gonna be
the quarterback and Mike White's gonna come in. And it
looked again it could be as quick as Sunday at halftime,
and and and and maybe even if I'm going a
little bit more than that. At the end of the
Jets are oh and two and they haven't one. Guess

what we're gonna get Mike White for a game or
two until Zack Wilson comes back. Well, Zack Wilson reportedly
back at practice, So see how quickly he gets ramped
up back into things. But certainly Mike White a guy that, uh, well,
set your hair on fire, what's left of it? Um
your eyebrows, We'll say, your eyebrows. Sure, I set those

editing staff and our our imaging department actually made an
open celebrating the virtues of Mike White that ran for
far long past his expiration data. We're gonna use that

thing against a very tough Cleveland front. Uh that you
don't want him meeting the wrong side of Miles Garrett

you're headed? I mean it might look as bad as now,

I can't look like what Naggie didn't have justin fields
last year. But it's the same kind of concept of
get the ball out early, avoid the big hit. This
is worth timing and a quick past offense is the
only thing that's gonna help you trying to keep those
pass rushers on their heels. So the other guy who
is close to losing it. I know you you're not

gonna like this. You're not gonna like this, but I'm
telling you, buddy, is it Daniel Jones. Yes, it's Daniel Jones. No,
and it's not Trey Lance. But buddy, your guy, Mitchell
Trabinsky is close to losing his job to Kenny Pickett. No,
he won. Look, he won, Yes, he did. He did victory.

It was yes, And he actually said today the offense
needs a killer mindset. Okay, hang on a second, dude,
this is why you're gonna lose your job. The Steelers won,
and it was a great effort, but their offense scored
ten points and the Bengals turned the ball over five times. Alright,

of Fitzpatrick. I watched Rabinsky. He wasn't accurate. Some of
the guys had to make incredibly athletic plays to pull
the ball in Johnson pickings. I know you've watched that
Deontae Johnson play quite a few times. Well, yeah, because you,
you and I both have him in Dynasty. So I
was always more interested in what he has to do.
But he wasn't accurate. And it's not that he played
so terribly. But if they're not gonna go downfield, and

they're not, and the game plan clearly for the Steelers was, Hey,
we're not gonna go crazy. We're gonna try to win
this game our way and and not try to go
up and down and get into a shootout with with
with the Bengals. If you're gonna try to win that
way and Trabinsky can't take advantage of five turnovers and
score more than ten points, why aren't you going to
Kenny Pickett? If you're just gonna play that way anyway,

why not put him in there and and and give
him his and give him his reps and let him
take his lumps and games when okay, we're good enough
for true for Kenny Pickett to come in and play.
Maybe he can make a few more throws, Maybe the
offensive line isn't as bad as we thought it was
going to be. So if you're gonna play this way anyway,
if you're gonna play really conservatively and Trabinsky is not

gonna put points on the board, well we can we
can we can fail and worry about those kinds of
growing pains with our future quarterback and why are we
wasting time with Mitchell Robinsky. So it's not so much
that hey, he was so terrible, Like, look, he wasn't
great and they won the game, and that's awesome. He's
got a winning record as a quarterback, but uh, you
want guys can make a little bit of plays or

like like I said, if you're gonna play this way,
why not give Ketty pick of the chance? Yeah, I
would say one of the things that really stands out
from week one, and it's not a Mitchell Robinski apologists speak,
it's the you want to run the ball and play defense.
You're running back was ten for twenty three on a

bad foot. You were joking about Dak Prescott and doing
the arm transplant thing. So they need a third foot
to come in for Nagy. Harris says he's gonna go.
He's that guy and wants in. Um, I'm looking at
it as I think it's a little longer stretch before

mean New England could still play defense and Mac Jones
expected to go. We're not expecting fireworks from the new
England offense. It's gonna be another slug fest and now
it's a question of can you get creative? They used
Chase Claypool six times as a runner, you got Jalen

he didn't urinate down his leg. I wish you had

a better assessment of your guy. But but that's still
a positive though, buddy, I mean that's true. You know,
he didn't look like he didn't belong on the field.
I guess, uh so he looked good in the uniform.

be pretty. But I think Mitchell does enough to keep

the job. I'm not saying that the you know, the
sort of Damocles isn't hanging over and people aren't waiting
to be running around going canny canny, But for now,
Mitchell remains your guy. Uh just watch and Trey Lance,
like we talked about him last night, don't worry he's

part of the biggest trade of the off season, met
the media for the first time as a member of
the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he had a lot of things
to say. He talked about how he disputed Danny Ainge's
take that the Jazz needed to be broken up. He said,
wait a minute, I wanted us to keep me and

Rudy go bear wait all this, I that this is
all a lie. But then he also said that I
also didn't really expect to be in Cleveland. What is
or was your interest in going to New York? You
know obviously you know all summer I wouldn't say much,
but you know, for me, it was once we really
got traded. You know, I kind of saw the writing
on the wall. I think we all did, you know,
and I think we understood we had it, We had

(16:58):
a good run. I kind of feeling I was gonna
get moved that. Like I said, I thought it was
New York. I'm not gonna allow to you, but you know,
and obviously who doesn't want to be home next next
to their mom. You know, I i'ven't lived at home
since I was like an eighth grade. I've been a
boarding school, but I would have been Guys, I want
to be next with my mom. Where were you got
boarding school? Oh well maybe? Uh he must listen to

the show because he said, you know, he had a

Danny Ainge was never never going to trade Donovan Mitchell
to the Knicks. This mix makes the Knicks look a
little bit better than boy, the Knicks. He found out

a way to screw up and not get a superstar
because it really well, yeah it doesn't he because doesn't.
He was killed him on both sides. No, no, no,
because Danny Ainge was never going to do it right.
Danny Ainge took this personally, like like like Michael Jordan's
last dance. I took that personally. He hated the fact
that the Knicks were felt they were so entitled to

getting Donna and Mitch like it was gonna happen. Look,
Danny Ainge, he's got that. He's a hothead, right. He
was a hothead as a player. He's a hothead now.
We talked to Rick Buker about the rivalries he still
feels he has with certain teams. Uh, he was never
going to trade Donna Mitchell there because he looked he
wanted to get rid of Mitchell, wasn't didn't want to
send him where he wanted to go, and didn't want
to send him to a team that had felt pretty

entitled when it came to Superstars. Right, you go back
to last year what the Mavericks are pissed at the
Knicks because their brass came to sit courtside during the game. Hey,
we're gonna get Jalen Brunson, like we're here to scout him. Right.
They didn't need to do that. So you get the
Knicks eight that's going on. So yeah, you think you're
getting Donovan Mitchell in when you subscribe to that theory
of that he was never going to trade him there.

(19:06):
Everything else falls into place, right, all the questions are answered,
because what did Danny Age say from the get go?
I want everything, seven first round picks, I want players.
Of course, the Knicks are gonna say, no, what, We're
not gonna give you that much? What are you insane?
But the asking price never really went down. There were
exchanges back and forth to the point where the Knicks were, hey,

they want five first round picks and these three players.
All Danny Ainge was doing was throwing out names and
and a at a price that was gonna make it
impossible to make a deal because the Knicks were going
to balk at every turn because it was way too much.
Now he knows he's got to get rid of Donovan Mitchell,
so he keeps doing this thing with the Knicks, and
then their feet start to drag. Other teams start to say,

(19:48):
maybe we can get involved because it doesn't seem like it. Hey,
we're gonna stay out of it because it looks like
Donna Mitchell wants to go to the Knicks. Danny Age
is gonna trade him there. That's where it's gonna go.
It's gonna happen. Okay, great, but then when it didn't
have happen, then the Cavaliers get involved, and what what
and what goes down? That trade right away? Instantly, that
trade happens and for way less than what Danny Angel

(20:10):
was asking the Knicks for three first round picks, a
couple of players. Colin Sexton, Yeah, let's do the trade.
Whoa wa wait? Really yeah? It happens that fast. Cleveland
gets involved and suddenly Donovan Mitchell's member of the Cavaliers. Hey,
it's wait for me to send you off the beaten path,
not sending you to a big media market. I'm gonna
send you to Cleveland. And I accomplish everything I wanted
to do. I was able to trade you away to

(20:32):
not trade you to a preferred market. I was able
to screw the Knicks, and I was able to get
some players and draft picks. Okay, mission accomplished. He was
never gonna trade Mitchell to the Knicks. The Knicks never
had a chance to get him. He was gonna keep
them dancing all the way through. Now you think about that,
everything that goes along with it made sense. There's no
more wondering why is Danny Ainge asking for this, Why

(20:54):
are they not doing that? He was never gonna trade him.
There wasn't gonna happen. Well, it is kind of interesting
us to if you break it down from a straight
business perspective that if I'm running the Utah Jazz, I'm
pissed because I know that there there's that psychological edge
to Danny Ainge. But if legitimately that's not the best

offer you could get, then you've kind of done us
a disservice for your own egomaniacal gains. Right, you can
look yourself in the mirror and said, I didn't give
in to James Dolan. But if legitimately they had the
best package for you, and there in the other conference,
not like you're gonna see them a ton you're both

making a run to the finals. That yeah, that's not happening.
Uh That it just seems silly that this becomes, uh
that kind of issue. Um I I just chuckle it sometimes,
you know when the business world at large, because I
know where some of the uh the great stories are

from my days that Yahoo and and missteps and loyalties
and stuff that got in the way of the business.
Even though it was a publicly traded company. You're going
that that's just malfeasance, malpractice, mal anything where Mal is
in front. Why because Mal is bad? So it's well
the Descendants, Mal was bad and he was good. Bompomp,

that's okay, bomb teenage daughters, that's what we have America

of the famous Disney villains and they're all exiled to
this island and Ben, who was the son of the Beast,
Beauty and the Beast, decides to open up the uh
the portal to bring the villains to live with transfer portal. Yeah, yeah,

the transfer portal. They get the end they get big
n I L deals and they all get to go
from the the island that they've been um uh sent
to Eggsile too to live with all the kids of
the heroes from the day, and the hilarity ensues. Yes,
and the oo o oh yeah you get that. Sure

wow uh it's kind of the same thing. Yes, yeah,
very very similar. They all start killing each other too.

have some of that in NBA boardrooms, there's no question
about it. Yeah, some folks are confused. Other folks are
going I'm not the only one that had to watch

it's it's both sides of well, we we are obviously
operating in a way that it's at least distasteful to
one team. And you look in the mirror, is this
gonna be off putting? And why we can't make deals?
What are we doing where we can't get free agents
to come here? We're in New York. Why can't we
get this to work? So you get introspective, and then
you've got the the other side of you know what,

what is it with the rest of the league that
the best deal is so distasteful to send someone our Like?
How are we operating that we're we're untrade untradeable, Like
we can't be trade partners because so many teams look
at us and say, blank them. It's not like we've

been winning for the last fifty years. Almost now I
would say I've been missing it, Bob, Yeah, no, Look this,
this whole thing comes to prove that once in a while,
a star player doesn't get what they want, right, Because
think about that, star players always get what they want.

Mitchell wanted out. He did everything you need to. Okay,
we're gonna trade you. But when you don't seize power,
you're going to allow a team to control the narrative
of what happens, right Like k D never allows anybody
to seize the power. Right. He's more, He's bigger than
the organization. I'll go even go back to the Nets.
Oh okay, great, Kyrie is always above the organization. Janice

is above the Bucks. They all are. Donovan Mitchell, as
big a star as he is, allowed this to play
out and allowed Danny Ainge to drive the narrative of this.
And whenever you lose power, you allow somebody else to
drive the narrative what you're not gonna get what you want.
He needed to get in there and say it's New
York or I ain't going. And because you think you
don't have, yeah, you do, because Danny Ainge knows he's

got to move on. He's gotta trade you. If you
had said it's New York or nowhere, guess what, you're
a nick and you're not doing this press conference sitting
there in Cleveland going I'm excited about what we have
to build here. And I just let let me throw
that up as well, because and it kind of made
you throw up, I think, which is why you're able
to go back, uh and continue your gluttony later on,

because you empty the chamber. Uh. Is the idea that
Mitchell started talking about how he knew more than he
can tell you about what went on with the negotiations
and keeping him out of New York. That's the other
part that that needs to be stated in all this.
In that interview, it's like Oh yeah, I know more.
Oh yeah, dirty deal done dirty. I voted uh the

It makes me feel better about the Knicks that the
Dicks didn't totally completely screw this up. I feel better
because if the Knicks never really had a chance, how

you just trying to feel better about don't just don't
think about this. Think about this. Right, You've been hanging
out with a girl for a while, Right, you're hanging
out with a girl. Things are going okay, and you think,
all right, well, we're hanging out with I don't want
to get too much of the friend zone. I want

absolutely out of New York. You had the last couple
of weeks Yankee president Randy Levine do a podcast and
and say that we want Aaron to stay, obviously, but
it's gonna be up to him. Wait, wait, what it's
up to him? What do you mean you got to
offer a big deal? Man? You he turned down seven
years and two forty one million. The Yankees were telling you,

we're not gonna go and just do anything to keep him.
We'll make him a good offer, but it's not gonna
be as good as what he's gonna get elsewhere. He's
got to decide if he wants more money from another
team or if he wants to be a new York Yankee,
like the allure of the Yankees is like it's like
it's nineteen sixty seven and I gotta be a Yankee. Um.
And then you had this from Aaron Judge last night

following the series against the Red Sox. He he talked
about how much fun it is to play against Boston.
In Boston, the fans are always great, it's always fun.
You always want to perform well. And then he got
this question, if it doesn't work out free agency for
the Yankees, is this pace considered? Well, Uh, you know,

I get that. It's a fun answer and and and
it's it's the fun thing to say, boy, play for
the Red Sox. Uh. What Aaron Judge would say if
he was contemplating staying with the Yankees was, come on, man,
I play for the Yankees. I'm not going to play
for you guys. It's the biggest rival we have. I
want to beat your brains in every single game we
play you. I don't want to play for I want

to beat the crap out of you. Or you say,
you know, I love being a Yankee. That's my focus.
That's what I want. We'll see what happens at the
end of the year. No, there's not been one bit
of Aaron Judge where he has said any of those things.
I want to be here. We'll see how it goes.
It's been, we'll talk about it then, we'll talk about
at the end. When someone just says that it's never
gonna be good news. Right, when when you go to

your parents and say, oh, can I do this? Can

trying to just extend out the time. So whither you
forget about it, or to give them time to think
of what to say so they can tell you know,

can't get the divide and conquer approach. No, you're not

the talk that the Yankees have had going back to
the beginning of this season, Jason, they've taken the approach
of we're the big bad Yankees, and that's where they're staying, saying,
look at our marketing, look at our global reach, all
this other stuff. How would you want to be anything else?
In other words, we're not coming up with four million
dollars forget it. You want you want that money? Who

get it from somebody else? And he will and maybe
if he could sign an N I L deal he
could stay in New York. Hey, listen, my last name
is judge. Can I sign a deal with a with
a court of law? Yes, yes you can, yes, Lower
Fifth Court you can? Yeah, okay, great, sign with then

think about that man, all of a sudden, judges everywhere.
He's in the Supreme Court. He's debating things, going on, Hey,

guess I gotta give it a look. There's so many
things he could do. But if he was going to stay,
things would be different. And the Yankees are already pushing
the narrative of we wanted him to stay, but look,

he wanted to go. He wanted to chase money someplace
else instead of being a Yankee, Like that's what they
wanted to be. So the Yankees don't get blamed as much.
They don't want to sit there and read the New
York Post every day, one of those cities where people
still pay attention to the back page of the paper.

for Dodgers in victory. You know they don't want that.
They wanted to be. Hey, Aaron had his chance, he
said he wasn't he wanted to go for more. What
can we do. We're not gonna pay that kind of
money for him, and Aaron Judged his credit is saying okay, Mentally,
he's checked out, he's gone. I don't even know that
there's gonna be even a serious back and forth that
he would stay. I think he hits free agency. And

you might not even hear him being linked with the Yankees.
It might be Judge talking to Dodgers, Judge talking to
Mets that you know, Judge talking to Braves, Judge talking
to Red Sox, And it may even be a part
of it, because he may be that piste that you
low balled the beginning of the year. You're not gonna
talk to me now and you're gonna say I have
to take less if I want to stay a Yankee. Yes, sorry, guys,
I would here for a long time. I've played really well,

we haven't won. I'm gonna go someplace else where I
can get paid gobs and gobs of more money. And
I'm still gonna go to a big market where I
can be a big star. Whether it's l A or
I stay New York or someplace else, or I go
to Boston. I can go do this? How about it

gabble to announce his decision yes, no, and people had
