(00:45):
com the way tire buying should be. Now say this
right now, Brady has never been hot. We've had a
big night with anniversaries, and I know what the play
of the night is gonna be later on this hour,
and I am just cringing having to listen because I
know what it's going to be. No, that's not the anniversary, No,
not that something else. And I'm cringing because I know
(01:07):
what it's going to be, and I really I want
to hit fast forward and get past it and be done. Okay, scared.
I mean there's a lot of anniversaries and celebrations today.
Well we're talking about it watching this thirty at anniversary
of Raw. Right now, you've got Rick Flair. He's a
walking rorschach Test with this suit he's got on. Yeah yeah,
(01:27):
happy Birthday, the Tiffany Amberthesia and so many other things.
So we'll have that and yeah, it is a great suit.
That is. But before we get into the team whose
super Bowl window is closed, we don't want to mention
this because it was a big trade today because potentially
this could help vault the Lakers back into contention. Uh,
big time contention in the Western Conference. That's a big
(01:49):
time contention. I mean a team that can finish in
the top six or top eight. I like the vaulting. Yeah, yeah,
look at immense. This is because we knew they only
had one trade to make, right, the Lakers only had
one trade to make because they didn't have the assets.
And they make the deal today. They trade some second
round picks and Kendrick Nunn for Rui Hachimura of Washington.
(02:10):
And he's a guy that ostensibly for them, is going
to be able to hit threes and help and hit
some mid range jumpers when it becomes difficult for the
lakers to get some space on the floor. Lebron's wanted
a shoot her. This is a former lottery pick who
has seen his way to start them blocked U in Washington.
So I like the trade. I like to you know,
the Laker. They had one bullet to fire and this
(02:32):
is it. So they must really like him if they're
gonna because their plan is to sign him to a
contract in the off season and keep him around a
younger player there, So they must really like him. So okay,
if this is a guy they've been they spent some
time on and and trying to figure out. I like
the move. Now this means Kendrick Nunn is gonna go
be a triple double guy for Washington in like games
is gonna be. Boy, he's a fifteen, ten and twelve guy.
(02:54):
Look at what happened at Kendrick Nunn. But I like
this deal so much for the Lakers. I decided to
try to put together how would Chris Berman announce this trade?
How would Chris bur I did not see this coming
at all. In there like, all right, Ruey Hotchbury, he's
had some injury issues. He's gotta cost probably fifteen million million.
(03:16):
So what does this do to affect next year as
you're trying to have the back end of the Lebron
James window. Nah, you immediately just kicked me in the
back of the net. Jason, you keep Chris Berman's name
out the Lakers about and you made it about Berm
and he slides into the desk. You're ready, you're ready
for this is a surprise for you, Frostburg, since I
(03:39):
know what the play of the night's just come punch
me in the t J. It's not quite the Midwest,
but the Lakers reach all the way to d C
for the spirit of st Rui oh Man, t Jane, No,
you'll love this one. Now they can listen careful for
this one. The Lakers hope Ruey's arms strong enough to
(04:05):
make those threes I'm thinking about. I'm gonna give him
a Goldberg spear here, Ruey armstrong. Ruey's armstrong with you
must remember this, at six ft eight inches, he's no shrimp,
Ruey t j The Lakers said, Ruey, Ruey, Oh baby,
(04:30):
we got a trade now t J. Bed dear nude it,
dear nute it. Wow, oh t J again, I don't
even know what to do with that one. You crumple
it up and your toss. This is for all your
musical theater fans, big one, t J. A wicked trade
(04:55):
for the Lakers for a wizard and I have the
details though, And there you go, bringing out our musical
theater nerded him. I'm going to see Mean Girls on Saturday.
That's how Regina George died. Ready for the last one.
I saved this one for last. I say the best
(05:15):
for last. Yeah, you say that every time and then
it sucks. No, no, no, wow, look at you, t J. First,
t J. Sorry, t J. T J. First, Joanie loves
choc and now Genie loves Hotchi Mora and it's happy days,
(05:35):
t J. J. More is gonna kick your ass. Keep
his girl's name out. You like that one, right, Joanie
loves now Genie loves Hotchi. Because you can't hear that
line without thinking of Ben Stiller, Joy loves Are you
(05:58):
ready for the hurricane? Happy days for the Laker? All right,
enough about the last It's a hell of a movie, Okay,
Like I said, I'm made a trade and god, very
exciting stuff. I am hanging the banner straight. They made
was for Palcasol, alright, so it's a long time it
(06:18):
worked out really No. In this case, you got a
guy who started his career strong first two years starter
and it was starting to show that that he could
be uh near a double double guy, pretty good outside shot,
and then some injuries have taken back in this year
he's been a sub and so now maybe some more
minutes and he is six eight. Be sure to catch
(06:40):
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio Whip and Strip.
But what what is Lebron James complained about quite a
bit this year is that they got no no depth
when it comes to height with Anthony Davis out, so
(07:00):
you at least get get a guy who can can
battle in the low post a bit, big moves, So
big move for the big move for the Lakers. They
get a wizard and I have now we got Jason
lackin Ford coming up in a few minutes. All the
latest in the NFL, uh the latest and the Tom
Brady drama. What's next for the Dallas Cowboys? Is there
anyway the Chiefs can beat the Bengals? But before we
(07:24):
go further, I know it's tough to hear this, and
it's probably good news for a lot of a lot
of fans, but it's bad news for this fan base. Uh,
the Bill's window to win the Super Bowl is now closed.
I would give it. It may be a cracked open,
but it's certainly you're gonna need more than a stiff
breeze to open that back up. Not with this team,
(07:44):
because they were exposed yesterday at home in snowy conditions
and they were out everything by the Cincinnati Bengals. It
would have even been worse had they adjudicated the touchdown
past Jamar Chase right, But you know, hey, what can
you do? This was a Bill's team team that what
you saw happen to them, all the changes they need
(08:05):
to beat elite teams to be a Super Bowl contender.
It's too much. They're a good there are a great
regular season team. What happens again the playoffs they struggle
because they have too many needs against the best teams
in the league. We saw the entirely new offensive line.
They got demolished by the Cincinnati Bengals, and Josh Allen
got hit so many times. He shouldn't be getting hit
(08:27):
as much as he does, but he does. You need
an entirely new offensive line. All the moves you made
there have all backfired. So that's number one. You need
another wide receiver, another star wide receiver, because Gabe Davis
and company aren't enough. If you shut down Stefon Diggs,
you shut down the Buffalo Bills. So now there's another
wide receiver you need. Defensively, you need a lot of help.
Right you had injury problems at safety. Do you resigned
(08:49):
Jordan Poyer? Who's an Who's who's hurt? All the time?
Von Miller got hurt? You thought he was gonna be
the big teeth in the defense. He's been out for
the year. Defensively, they got beat and you had you
had you to Cincinnati Bengals offensive line missing three starters,
and you still got boat race that way. The era
of the Bills being a Super Bowl contender is over,
(09:09):
and their era as being the top team in the
ANFC East is ending as well, because everybody below them
is getting better. The Jets just need a quarterback. The
Dolphins probably would have would have gotten there, had to
and not gotten hurt down the stretch. And the Patriots
without a quarterback have been five hundred. You know, they're
gonna go out and get a quarterback in the off season.
They'll go big game hunting. Everybody else is coming up.
(09:30):
It's been a great run for the Bills the last
three four years. Right, it's been a great run. But
as you can see, they don't have enough, so the
window for them to win is closed. They need to
reboot and redo this team in a different way because
what they've done so far great in the regular season,
but get to the playoffs and you see all the
issues they have with beating elite teams and being Super
Bowl contender. Not winning games the regular season, but being
(09:52):
elite teams and being a Super Bowl contender, well a
lot of it is the all Right, Josh Allen is
gonna figure it out and make another play with his legs.
He likes tend to play, and you got to go,
I mean, we we've we've been talking about this for
a long time this year and it it really came
to fruition here of trying to figure out that balance
didn't think they'd get punched in the mouth the same
way that they did, right, Cincinnati, chip on the shoulder.
(10:16):
They love to use all of the motivation. We we
joke about it sometimes, what does this really mean? No,
those guys were pretty piste off about the way the
a f C title game was being handled, the fact
that tickets were already sold, Like they all had their
one liners ready when that ended. And it wasn't just
Eli Apple, No Joe Burrow had one. Joe Mixon was
doing a lot of chirping like everybody had that. Matt
(10:37):
Milano said, you know in the post games, like there
was no juice in the place. They got punched in
the mouth so fast by the Bengals. They never recovered right.
No matter what they did to try to hype up,
it didn't work. And you had no balance in the offense.
You had Alan getting hit, didn't no design runs early? Right?
How about little creativity? That miss on that pass? Two
(10:58):
digs will just taunt them forever because that would have
made it a game. How much you want to bet?
That's what Diggs was yelling at. How about that pass? Man?
But I got four paths in the thirty five yards
ten targets, and then a couple of times where there
were opportunities maybe to try to force it what you've
done before, and he chose not to chose, like the
(11:20):
late throw to Gabe Davis instead of digs towards the
back of the end zone, throws he would normally make,
he didn't attempt. So there's there's a bit of a
disconnect there. The run game, James Cook looks like he
could be a solid player. Singletary and he combined pretty nice.
But you don't have that one go to guy in
your backfield. Dawson knocks good when he plays injury prone defensively.
(11:42):
As you mentioned, you've got you got beat up on
both lines. You've got to figure out both both lines.
You didn't hear Ed Oliver's name really mentioned at all?
Did you? I heard Al Oliver's name more than so.
You go through and when you're trying to play bullyball.
I mean you mentioned all those teams. What about Baltimore?
Whatever they figure out, if Lamar's there on a franchise
(12:02):
or they bring in somebody else, they're always a solid team.
They're gonna fight you to the nail. Pittsburgh towards the end,
Kenny Pick. It's interesting and again, a team that's always
in the hunt at least in that five hundred good
enough to mess things up for your season and maybe
knock you out of your home field advantage. Kansas City's
not going anywhere, the rest of the West, Denver is
(12:23):
not going to be as bad as they were this year.
Where I mean, the Raiders are still gonna stink, but
the and I say that just because I know that
draws the ire of Raider fans. But the point is
in the A f C you don't have a lot
of margin for error. So McDermott and company need to
take a look. And yes, if if you really wanted
to go down that rabbit hole, could you say, all right,
he's got six years And this is where we're at.
(12:45):
A two B, who's the B? Two C? Guys, the
question that window shut you're using a clapper on a
TV or film set. Joy loves Chute. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific, Fox
(13:08):
Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon talk a lot about anniversary Tonight anniversary of Raw,
ninth anniversary of Hulk Hogan winning the w w F title,
pinning the Iron Chic those boots. Five minute match was
shortest championship matching WWF ww E history, and he started
(13:29):
running wild. But I know the play of the night
is going to come from something that happened forty years
ago today, and I've been dreading it since I knew
it was coming at like noon today, Dick Enberg, NBC Sport.
(14:00):
It's on the call. Forty years ago today. A J.
Dewey of the Dolphins intercepted Jets quarterback Richard Todd three times,
part of five turnovers in the now famous mud ball.
Not well except making a f C Championship games. That's
at least hailed up. Though the other do we Dowey
defeats Truman, that did that was wrong? I wish all counting.
(14:23):
I wish that was right, and this one was wrong.
And I'm watching it here and watching the replays, and
you gotta put a t J on that. You know,
the thing is about the mud ball. If you see
the field, it doesn't look like what you would expect
it to remember, like you you expect this entire field
to be mud and it was it was the middle
of the field was muddy all the way down, up
(14:43):
and down the middle, and it was there because Don
Shula did this and the NFL let him do it.
The Jets had a great offense and eighty two and
the Dolphins are winning by running the football and a
great defons year before they got down and picking up
the quarterback. So so what did they do? There was
a monsoon in the area all week and they didn't
cover the field because that's exactly what the Dolphins wanted,
(15:05):
was for this field to be so muddy where the
Jets offense couldn't do anything and taddah, we lose four
team nothing. Yeah, as you can tell him over it
forty years, forty years ago to buy him just like
when joined us earlier. I'm okay with the laws. I
mean I expected it, and then proceeded to speak for
ten minutes without breathing. It might be a record. The
(15:27):
Jets could be still playing the game. They still wouldn't
have any points, would he? Benett ex Jet ran for
a touchdown and that, yeah, well what he got from
you had a quarterback with two first names? Yeah, yeah,
Todd Richard, he was Richard he was Richard. They called
him Richard Todd Richard talk. I think other people might
have called they called him Richard. They when they thought
he was good, they had signs up in the stands.
(15:47):
It would say Todd is God well and then and
then once that went went south, he really went into
his other love as the frontman of Paying Floyd before
a successful solo career. Roger Waters still running wild. All right,
let's have the real play of the night now, brought
to you by Progressive Progressive, making things even easier. They'll
help you bundle your home and car insurance together so
(16:09):
you can save on both. Learn more at progressive dot
com or one Progressive tom more than an Indian aversaryship
Thanksgiving every night here. Maybe when we talked about Sanchez before,
so it's it plays at the anniversary jan It's not
(16:30):
anniversary together. The mud Bowl is the anniversary, It's not
the other one. A. J. Dewey. I think Richard Todd
had more completed passes to Dewey than he had to
his receivers in the game. I still remember watching that
game in my basement being upset, going, how are we
losing this game? We're better than the Dolphins of the Dolphins,
the Dolphins, State killer Bees defense me love, who is that?
(16:55):
Oh boy? All right, now here's the real play of
the night horn sound they walk up the floor winning
by thirty three. One is the final King's Radio Network
on the call the King's Thump the Grizzlies tonight. Uh.
They are now twenty seven and nineteen. Sacramento was in
(17:16):
third place in the Western Conference. And I'll tell you
what for a team that doesn't have any stars, they
have turned around. A team that hasn't made the playoffs
or finished over five hundred since two thousand and six,
you talk about a drought. I the Jets have been
to the playoffs in twelve years, m and over five
or gone to the playoffs when everybody goes to the
(17:37):
playoffs in seventeen years, And that trend is gonna end
this year. Here there are only a couple of games
back in the Grizzlies for second place. Again, everybody the
top of divisions, you have stars, they don't have any
Your coach of the Year in the NBA, and it's
not even close, is Mike Brown. Mike Brow By the
fact that you can go through in some bonus and
(17:58):
and go through Dear and Fox, and you've got some
guys that put up some numbers, right, six players averaging
double digits. This was their eleventh game this year that
they've scored at least a hundred thirty points. Let's go.
I mean, it's it's awesome because you had Mike Brown
who coached Lebron and it didn't work out and he
got fired. He coached the Lakers, it didn't work out,
he got fired, then he goes to Golden State staff
(18:20):
for a few years. Is in that winning culture with
Steve Kerry now in his first year. I mean, there's
other guys who are doing great jobs in the NBA,
but they all have superstar players. They have Yoka at
your Jaw or Jayson Tatum or Embad or Janie or Katie,
but nobody with this little talent is doing this. Yeah.
You know what's great is that, you know, to bring
(18:41):
it back to the other play of the night, they're
scoring a hundred and thirty plus in a lot of
these games. Your team scored zero in that game against
the Dolphins. Zero. If you'd like to be the new
co host of The Jason Smith Show with my former
best friend Mike Carmen. Send your resumes and Alex Tisher
will go through them and give you a phone an interview.
My name coming up next, hy buddy, Ben Maller, Richard Toddio.
(19:05):
So you have a dollar and I asked for cents
