Speaker 3 (00:44):
His name is Mike Harmon. Rogers. They keep showing Aaron Rodgers. Rogers,
it's been the Aaron Rodgers Fest. Like every once in
a while they actually go back to the games and
cons puncher. Now it's look how regal he looks on
the side.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
We're live at the Tirack dot Com Studios. Tirec dot
com will up you get there an unmatched selection, fast
free shipping, free road has a protection and over ten
thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot Com the way tire buying
should be NBC doing the right thing. We are showing
a long interview with Aaron Rodgers that's going on on
(01:26):
the sideline, not showing the game. What do we tell
what I tell you the other night was gonna be more,
more impressive and better and Aaron Rodgers interview during the
game or the game itself.
Speaker 3 (01:35):
Rogers getting interviewed. I don't know and have no idea
what he's saying. They're bearing the lead of Wilson. Now
we'll get to Zach Wilson and his brilliance Rogers. But
he's smiling like a little kid. I just got it,
bought a ten million dour house. He's wearing Jets gear
like it's real.
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Like, Okay, I know I saw him in practice gear,
and I know he signed, But seeing him on the
sidelines in Jets.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Gear, laughing, doing the interviews, it's like, oh, it's real.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
It's really still in practice, really real.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
It's like, oh, I got it so much fun. I
mean it is still practice when it's all said and done.
Uh so you haven't seen him do anything real just yet.
He just did an interview for like that's great, But
this is all stamina is good. Well, we know he
can talk. Did he do anything like Sean Payton where
he just started blasting everybody he used to know. I
don't know that.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I'm fine watching it without sound, with sound here in
the studio, but.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
I'm staring at the bus and Canton, the long slow
walk where one day he'll be there. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
we know this. Rogers Rogers, rog Rogers.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
I was more annoying, Mike. The woman are are Jason Rogers?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Rogers? Jason?
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Wait?
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Who the woman in the commercial.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
It's a dude. It's a big burly uh pot belly dude.
Thanks for knowing the commercial, Frostburg. If you're gonna, if
you want to, you have to at least know the commercial.
Er Roger, I mean he kind of looks like Smith what,
he just has more hair.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
They called me for and said, listen, you know you
don't to present yourself as a Jets fan enough.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I was like when Eric stone Street got all those
purple guy Northwestern ads. Yeah, I was on campus. I
was in a video game. Yeah you bypassed me for
stone Street. I could have been on Modern Family. I
could have been a big deal. I could have been
Fizbo could have been Fizbo. You would have coached the
football I would okay, all right, I would have coached
(03:34):
the hell on our team and would have fought with
Will Sasso. I would have had all sorts of advance
because Jesse Tyler Ferguson would have been taller than you,
and he would have been very happy with that. I
think he would have been very excited for that.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
This guy, that's great. Look at this right now, Hall
of Fame game. No, no Aaron Rodgers, but a dose
of Zach Wilson. The Jets lead the Browns right now,
sixteen to seven. Offensive woes already, and it air's a problem.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
And no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
If this is your final score, just canceled the season.
This means that Jets are winning the Super Bowl. If
the Jets win the first game of a year sixteen
to seven, which was the score of when we won
Super Bowl three, that's it. It's over, Arian fostered script.
Just hit fast forward on it all the way to
the end and go all the way through. Jets are
winning the super Bowl sixteen to seven.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
I appreciate your excitement. That means that the crash will
be that much sweeter when it falls to hell. But
just as you try to count your chickens before they
come home to roost, Bobby Bouja, we got a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Well, there could be a penalty though. There could be
a penalty. Are you outside they be a penalty? Could
be a penalty.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Because they had that third down quote unquote stop where
they'd be a penalty could be a penalty.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Yeah, Browns are in the end zone now extra point
pending may get sixteen thirteen in a game where Aaron
Rodgers did not play. Look, no starters for the Jets played,
no starters for the Browns.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
The less for the Browns. I mean, it just kept going.
He did get attitude is bad. I think Joe Tom
actually played a few bad. I'm gonna play and then
I'm gonna do something one more time. Hello.
Speaker 1 (05:04):
So yeah, look, but football is back and number one,
whether you're a Jets fan, whether you're a Browns fan
with a football fan. We made it to another year.
We're watching real football with real uniforms, and it's happening.
And we saw a former starting player play tonight in
Zach Wilson. And that was the headline for a while
until they just kept showing Aaron Rodgers on the broad Doss.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Rogers, look at Rogers. Hey, DeMarcus ware had the national anthem.
That's great, But looking Aaron Rodgers on the sideline, Rogers,
Rogers on the sideline, it's glorious, it's so just so. Instead,
I like what I like happiness, Evan, this kind of hope,
and well over a decade, well, no, you haven't had
this kind of hope since I don't know when. Did
(05:44):
they start spending all that money with the Mets. No, no, no, no, no,
the Jets, because it all bleeds together, because you can
ride out bad seasons with the other teams if one's
doing well, and you add all your eggs, the proverbial
eggs will actually no, you did it twice with the Jets.
You did it with Sam Sam Sam, and you did
it with Zack Zach Zach, and then we at least
had his mom. That was entertaining for a while. Ys
(06:06):
that kind of crumbled. But now this year, but that
was more hope. This is belief, This is well, this
is Rogers. Still a lot of hope, Rogers. But then
you had the Mets spend all that money, and then
you had to really convince yourself how great it was
that they divested themselves of those pieces and saying, what
a great day this is. Meanwhile, the season is a
(06:30):
colossal failure on so many levels, and hope is not there.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Wine, you did sweaty Max Scherzer, who was one play
away from getting knocked out by that game.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Boy, that first inning, that was the most entertaining White
Sox baseball. Have you seen? I watched it? You know
what he is.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
I just want to say this, Max Schurzy, Yes, his
first stop one today for the Rangers, gave up three
runs in the first and was getting racked around thirty
seven pitch in the guts. He's seven the biggest play
of that game. He is a base hit to start
the second inning, and then Tim Anderson rips one. That's
a base hit, but because the second baseman Simeon is
(07:09):
playing so close to second, he's able to make a
great spear double play. And then instead of first and third,
nobody out, it's nobody on two out. Next batter gets
a hit, next batter walks, and then Surezer gets out
of the inning. He is that one defensive play away
from not getting out of the second inning at all.
So yeah, kind of a mixed bag for sure.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
And the Dodgers are forty five games over five starts.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
But stop, it doesn't mean this is about Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
You can't play the game like that.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
That guy's gotta get right to Yeah, we're not talking
about talking about Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Wilson's fifty.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
Rogers. We'll get to something Rogers can't do, squeaky at
the end of your first year. Discover credit cards. The
end of your first year, Discover credit cards automatically double
all the cash back you are And that's right, everything
you word is doubled. Seriously, see terms it out for
yourself at discover dot com slash match. So while Aaron
Rodgers is busy doing interviews, we're gonna break down what
he said, the inflection he used, some of the words
(08:09):
he used. Zack Wilson started for the Jets tonight right now?
Is that the only guy that anybody really remembers or
has heard? Oh yeah, Zach Willson's play. I mean, if
you're a big college football fan, you remember Kellen Mond
a little bit. But Zack Wilson who started for the
Jets of last year until the Jets realize, okay, he
stinks and now we have to move on. U. This
is the absolute truth that I will tell you about
(08:31):
Zach Wilson tonight and look watching him play. I'll tell
you a couple of things. First, Oh, dude, do we
have the big fifty seven yard pass from Zach Wilson?
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Do?
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Yeah? We don't have Zach will Really, who the hell
is not working? We don't have Zach Wilson's fifty seven
yard pass? Is this a real game? What do you mean? Yes,
it's a real game. People want to hear football highlights.
Does it matter if somebody wins? I'll just have to
make the call. Oh, look back to pass. It's Zack
Wilson's throwing at someone you've never heard of, fifty seven
yards in the yard. Its complete.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
You know who can't throw fifth seven yards? Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Aaron Rods could throw it one hundred and fifty yards
through a mountain if he wanted to, not over mountain,
but threw it right through a mountain. So now I
got to go talk to our staff that we don't
have the Jets highlight.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
We have the Jets touchdown. I do want it.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
We have the Jets touchdown. If you play the butt
fumble I'm gonna come in there and we're gonna fight
exactly what you said, my passionalism. There will be no
pizza tonight. I will not buy pizza tonight if you
play the butt fumble. I want the touchdown in at
least six different languages. Hey, I want it in English.
I want it in Spanish. I want it in French.
I want it in Portuguese. I want it in Cantonese.
(09:34):
I want it in Boy. I'm running out of languages.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
I know. I want it in in uh Huan. Russian? Yes,
why not? I want it in in sure? Is that
language like in Sweden? Remember this, though, when you threaten, hey,
no pizza, you're talking to the wrong guys over there
doesn't mash neck brace and I want it made out
of yams. I mean, yeah, pizza. So threatening them with
(10:02):
no pizza that that's not a really great threat.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
But Frostburg still gets something from the pizza place that
doesn't have cheese and ty Shirt gets well on.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
My pizza instead of uh crust and bread, I would
like seaweed and instead of cheese, I would like a
shredded squash if I could have that on my peza.
Pretty good, though, I had a nice seaweed salad earlier.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
All Right, all right, all right, you want to you
want to touch down from the night?
Speaker 3 (10:25):
No, no, no, no, would like out to the crows.
Kelly cut it hit the two the one he said,
shot Kelly, John Kelly one anchor. John Kelly does a
game show? Does he really? I worked with he worked
in Chicago? Okay, this is junior. Yeah, uh no.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
So no Jets touchdown, played a touchdown, No Jets touchdown?
Speaker 3 (10:50):
And I know who the Jets are. Oh my god,
you are?
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Okay, okay, if I don't get a Jets touchdown or
that fifty seven yard back again, no pizza really, no pizza.
And and I'm breaking a window onto Sager's car. So
that's what's gonna happen, just because just because you watch
what that was.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
The best reaction. I mean, I'm that line'll pull the
fire alarm to off the thing, threaten that. I think
the vandalism was Steve's long drive there on the show.
I mean, welcome in Steve here.
Speaker 6 (11:24):
I was in supportive you getting the score in all
these languages. I was about to suggest Punjabi.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Actually, okay, we could do that, but I know if
no I guess you can.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
I think it's acceptable.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
No, But if I do that, Steve, I know you'd
be on my side even more because you don't want
to break through your window.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I mean for no reason.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
You mean here the studio window because we can't see
each other.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Now, Oh no, no, your car window, like the Fox
have to pay for that. It'd be your car window.
It'd be and Tight Shirt. He would have no tires
on his car when he went there at the end.
Forget forget about key and a car. You got where
are my tires? They're gone tires.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
It's a good thing. He's got Tirack dot comn gone.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
It's come full circle.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
That's a producer in action right there.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Not if I call Tirack dot com and say, you
know what, I know you have ten thousand locations around
the country, but Tight Shirt's not one of your locations.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I'm sorry. No, just to get it. Well, they took
me up with some Bretta Stein or some good years,
so it's okay. It could yeah, it could be General Tire.
Sure they give you something a right.
Speaker 4 (12:16):
Speaking of Michelin, how about you do the read?
Speaker 1 (12:18):
Hey, how about I get it? How about I get
a good positive Jets play from tonight.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
How about warning on? How about I get one of those.
Speaker 5 (12:25):
For the Jets.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
For the touchdown?
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets. Mike Tarico
NBC on the call, the first touchdown of many on
the year for the.
Speaker 6 (12:39):
Jets, honestly thought he was going to play the Yankee
Stanton highlight with the home run tonight because it just
went final Yanks.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Far it is why? Oh he hit something good for him? Yes,
I want that. Yankees. They wear King tried for the
double play and threw it ten feet behind the bag.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
He wasn't even near the It's the winning pitcher tonight.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
That's what I want to see. Uh, he's in the neighborhood.
We are warming up here.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
We are rolling obviously Hall of Fame game two and
a half minutes ago. On the third quarter, Jets lead
the Brown sixteen fourteen. That exactly doesn't matter. Your first
loss in the year, sudden, it doesn't matter. Now it's
a practice game.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
The Jets third and fourth stringers were fine, and we're
getting interviews with Aaron Rodgers. That's all. As soon as
felt and hit the end zone. That was it. It
doesn't matter. It's like it doesn't matter the I think
the Browns put all their you know what, you know
what happened all you thought sixteen seven was going to
hold up. You gave me trash immediately there's a score.
Remember that messy situation last night that goal got disallowed.
(13:38):
Harmon's still right. You know that touchdown held up? I said,
the touchdown held up? It's okay, Yeah, it doesn't you
but you tried to talk it into like sixteen seven
was going to be the end. I just said, and
it's going to be great. I had to say it
was sixteen seven. I had to I can't say it now.
I had to say Walla was sixteen.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Rodgers didn't even have the stones to play tonight.
Speaker 6 (13:57):
Come on, by the way, the rookie quarterback on the
field for the Browns story and Thompson Robinson leading the
long touchdown drive apparently his nine years of eligibility at
UCLA finally over. I really did think he was gonna
have one more year at UCLA. I thought he was
hand that all down. In my notes for my comedy
Acts year, I had an interview that he was excited
(14:19):
to be moving to the Big ten. I'm surprised about that,
say as well, have more in this game. Yes, and
we'll get to Zach Wilson the night yet, I'll tell
you exactly the all kinds of stuff, all of his
social media. I'll tell you the night Zach Wilson had.
And yes, it's been another insane day. When it comes
to college football realignment, we have it for you. Coming
up next the Tirack dot Com Studios Jason Smith Mike Harmon.
(14:40):
This out of the Show brought to you by Discover

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Be sure to catch live edition so of The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
Five and a half to go in the fourth quarter,
the Browns lead the Jets twenty one to sixteen. Dorian
Thompson Robinson clearly showing that UCLA was good for him.
He has looked really good in limited actions so far tonight.
A couple of big touchdown drives from the Browns.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
A lot of experience, Buddy Brown, a lot of years.
He started fifty games UCLA. He's already into the crafty
veteran status of his career. And he's a rookie. I really,
I mean, the dude started forty nine games while he
was at UCLA. If you're not ready for the NFL
after that, you're not ready. Yeah, never happened for you. No,
that's it. Right, You've got as many games, man, that's
(15:47):
got to be a record. Right, Does that get you
a Guinness plaque? It might freek Guinness.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
How many games did Stenson Bennett plague?
Speaker 3 (15:54):
Oh, he's right there with him.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Yeah, he's still u He might have more because he
had Bowl games.
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Yeah yeah he had. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Well, Ben Bennett's also like thirty three years old? Is
Thomson Robinson I think is only twenty four.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
I think as old as Zach Wilson. Just think about this,
Zach Wilson says, old as this guy's rook Yeah. Sorry,
it's over for Zach. It's over. I just said that. Yeah,
you're mocking me. It's you're killing Zach Wilson. It's just
because he's been stuck in your horrid system with your
terrible team, terrible offensive line, and the tutelage has been
(16:28):
i mean Hackett like, and now he's on staff. Yeah,
you're gonna blame You're gonna blame him. I am.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I am not disputing every anything you said, but Zach
Wilson is terrible.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
I just like that. It's over. It's over for Zach.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
It's over a fifty seven yard bomb.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
It's over. He did have a great pass. He did
have a great pass tonight. Yes he did under I
mean justin I mean, it was really kind of shocking
how quickly he he moves on from these people You
and I have now been working with him for a
very long time. Wait till Rogers goes something hap Abu.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
I'll move on to Chris Streveler, if I have to
come on, I'll move on to Tim Boyle. I'll move
on to to Peter Boyle. I'd just I'll move on
to Doyle McPoyle from uh from it's always Sonny TJ.
Clearly not always sunny in Philadelphia for Trey Turner. The
(17:20):
last few weeks DJ. But look, here's the deal with
Zach Wilson right tonight. He's the only player playing tonight
that anybody's heard of. Everybody else is all backups. If
you're a Jet fan, you understand that. Okay, hey, the
running back they took in the fourth round is gonna play.
You're gonna see guys like Brandon Echoles who were fighting
to be the the nickelback with the team.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Uh, stupid, they just sold out a huge arena.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
Do you have any songs about darkness?
Speaker 3 (17:45):
I'm stupid, Nichols.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
There's players, there's players that you have seen that if
you're a fan of the Jets and the Browns and
you watch what, Oh that's great, that's cool. We look,
Zach Wilson is the only guy that's playing that has
any sort of relevance because he was the star for
the team a couple of for a couple of years,
and now he got pushed out to the side because
of Aaron Rodgers. And tonight, I'm honest, he looked a
little bit better and he had a little more confidence.
(18:09):
But the emphasis there is on a little now if
you want to go back, because now it's easy to
look at Zach Wilson from a wide eye lens on
what went wrong with him and why he's sitting right
now auditioning for other teams to be a backup quarterbacks.
He's never starting for the Jets. He's not gonna stay
when his contract is up because they're not going to
sign him. He's gone. He came in with a lot
(18:34):
of talent, and I told you what my fear was
was the Jets were going to ruin him, and they did.
You can't have a rookie come in, a quarterback come in,
put him there to start day one and not give
him weapons around him that's going to help him succeed.
Why do players come in his rookies and succeeded quarterbacks?
(18:54):
Because why did brock Purty succeed Because he's got Christian
Bleep and McCaffrey, he's got Deebo, Samuel brandon I and
George Kittle, right, none of When you can get the
ball to your weapons, that's pretty good. Could a lot
of quarterbacks succeeded in San Francisco with that, yes, one
hundred percent. But brock Perdy did, so you give him
credit for it. He comes in his first year and
the Jets running backs. They're trying to make it work
(19:15):
with Tevin Coleman. Okay, Corey Davis was their best wide
receiver and there was nobody else after done. Corey Davis
is lucky he even makes the team this year. They
didn't do any favors for him his first year, Right,
that's the first one. So that's on the Jets. What's
also on the bleep in Jets is that after the
first year, when they realized we're building our team, we
drafted Breeze Hall, we have a really good defense sauce guard.
To all of this, what did they do? They drilled
(19:38):
into Zach Wilson's head, don't make mistakes, don't make mistakes.
Don't make mistakes. Don't make mistakes. What happens when you
tell a quarterback don't make mistakes? If you're a game manager,
if you're a Cooper Rush type guy, hey, then you
can come in. Yeah, I know my limits is a quarterback.
I make plays when I catch. But Zach Wilson's a
guy that's coming to the league with a lot of athleticism,
a guy that likes to throw across his body, that
(19:58):
gets outside the pocket, will throw on the run off
his back foot. He has that kind of arm talent.
You take a quarterback like that, you gotta take the lumps.
And all they did was tell him, don't make mistakes.
Don't make mistakes, don't make mistakes. It's no surprise that
by the middle of the season his confidence was shot.
He didn't know what he was seeing downfield. Because all
it is when you have a coach saying don't make mistakes,
don't make mistakes, what are you do? You're gonna get
(20:19):
gunshy about throwing the football. You're not gonna see the
field the way you need to. You're gonna always take
the safe pass because I don't want to throw it
over the middle. And that no, no, you get nervous.
And that's what the Jets did. That completely screwed him
up because Robert sala is a defensive coordinator turned head coach.
And that's why I always am nervous when DC's become
head coaches because the era of the NFL now is
you gotta have a quarterback. You gotta have somebody there
(20:41):
that is that is shepherding your guy's career. It's why, hey,
Frank Reich works when he goes most places to be
a head coach. Why offensive coordinators work defensive coordinators. It's
a lot tougher. And you drafted a franchise quarterback and
you teamed up with a glorified defensive coordinator who didn't
know anything about developing a quarterback. And look what happened
the first two years of Zach Willis. It's what you
have to do. Well, we gotta go to a guy
(21:01):
who's gonna run the offensive side of the ball himself.
Let's get Aaron Rodgers and now duff Nathaniel Hackett. He's
the OCN name, only rod this is what I want
to run. Hackett says, Okay, we'll get those plays going on.
They did the right thing in that, but they ruined
Zach Wilson. When I look at what happened with him
and all of it. Yes, he could have been better,
and maybe he would never have been great, but boy,
the Jets did all they could to ruin him over
(21:23):
the course of the past two years.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
But even you look at last year, you had one
wide receiver of any consequence, Right, Garrett Wilson comes in
and he's all world your next leading target gatherer. Want
you want to play this game, Let's go down the
Jets leaders, Tyler Conklin, Yeah, yay, eighty seven targets for him.
You're next, Elijah Moore. I thought you're gonna say I
(21:44):
was next, Yes, I was next. I was next, Corey
Davis sixty four, and then Michael Carter, Braxon, Barrios pre
So you get the point. You don't have a lot
of viable wide receivers. You get into the tight ends
and running backs really fast and the occasional hey, I'll
chuck it up to this guy, and they're not gonna
(22:05):
win fifty to fifty balls. It's just not what their
number three guys on a bad offense, a poorly constructed offense,
and it shows you how good Wilson was in that
so and I mean Garrett in that way. For Zach,
I mean, I still have hope that you can get
him out of there, that you can extract him and
(22:26):
make him viable somewhere else, and that he can get
another opportunity. Just always just the curiosity, right is, especially
when you're talking about bad organizations historically, and you had
your your bites at the apple at the top of
the draft, including Zach Wilson, Sam Darnold's well he's going
to be the backup there in San Francisco after a
(22:48):
decent showing for a poorly designed Carolina offense that shed
some of its top talent last year, and Matt Rule
got himself fired because well, it was an underperforming, underachieving
system that he put in. So now you look to
the Jets and yeah, Aaron Rodgers is gonna be running.
(23:09):
But you know I'll be the most hyper critical, like
I was first to step out when I saw the
kickers running onto the field running. If the Jets kicker
comes out in any game of consequence when they need
to keep an opposing team off the field and punch
the ball in, then he's still useless to me.
Speaker 1 (23:30):

(23:51):
this game. Jets and the Browns again, about two and
a half minutes left to go.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
The Jets have the football down five Rogers is coming in. No,
he's not. Now that would be funny all of a sudden.
I'm just want to throw a couple of passes.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
Man, you know, we.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Gotta set the tone here in the preseason. I wanna
throw a couple. How many pass did you throw to
this guy in the first week and a half of practice.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
None.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
They bring him a chair just to take a nune.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
Are you good? Yeah, he's not even gonna wear pads.
He's just gonna go back there. Just throw it, don't
touch him.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
But listen, we talked about the PAC ten and the
PAC twelve, PAC ten, PAC nine pack, seven pack, three pack,
one pack, six pack. Yeah, yeah, uh. The big story today,
the Big ten is going to give the conference permission
to go get Oregon as Washington as members. And you
(24:39):
would think that after the PAC twelve is killed, because
that's what's happening. The PAC twelve is going to die.
It's just going to be a slow death. We're watching
it happen. Potentially it could happen for the ACC right now.
Some members North Carolina not happy. Florida State said, hey,
this model is not sustainable for us. We might want out.
If you think that we're going to stop after this
(25:02):
conference realignment finishes the way it does, I got news
for you, right because it sounds great. Okay, Well, we're
losing the Pac twelve, but they're gonna be living in
some form where Washington State is gonna be there in
Oregon State and they'll be a minor.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Yeah, it becomes a lower case. He'll like the Mountain West.
He haves to be the mountain. Like the Mountain West,
you rename it and move on.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Sure, you go back to the PAC ten. You can
pull out all the gear you still have from the
PAC ten. You've been in mothballs for the last few years.
You could do all that.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
But if you think this is now gonna end and
it's gonna be the SEC and the ACC, maybe if
they stick around and the Big twelve and the Big Ten,
wait till I don't know, maybe two years from now. Okay,
because anytime things change in college football all the time.
I still don't know if USC and USULA whoever really
joined the Big ten, because things could change. Things change
(25:51):
every five minutes. Wait until this TV deal and money
everybody is getting is not enough and wait until the
super League idea is floated, where hey, we get the
regional governors together from Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State and
Oklahoma and the USC and they say, you know there's
(26:14):
money out there if we form the elite super Conference.
Right like that, What was the guy the guy's idea
from Ted Lasso, the guy from VPA. Oh yeah, was
his name? Kofu? What was his name? They get the
big super league idea?
Speaker 7 (26:27):
Right?
Speaker 3 (26:27):
That guy's a phenomenal actor. He's so funny. He shows
up in commercials. Yeah, oh yeah, he's hilarious.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
Richard Split, Uh, wait till that happens in a couple
of years where you're gonna find out, Hey, if we
put all these teams together, you know how much money
I can get? TV money I can get and we
would have the real conference championship and the real National Championship.
I can get twelve teams in this deal, and our
TV money would be about seventy million dollars a year
(26:54):
per team because we're getting the best of the best.
Every week is Oklahoma, Alabama or or Michigan and Ohio
State or USC is gonna play LSU or Hey, we'll
put those top twelve schools.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Now, you still gotta have some patsy, We'll put those
top twelve schools. They don't care, No, they don't care,
because it's all about money.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
No one's gonna care. No one cares about championships anymore
anything else. It's all it's all about money. It's all
about money. And so in a couple of years, when
you say, okay, we're making thirty million dollars year here
and thirty million to here, they're oh, no, no, we
can make even more because I know, guess what, Fox
Sports one is gonna pay us money for this, or
it's gonna be big. Fox is gonna pay us, or
(27:35):
ESPN will pay somebody else. There's money there, fifty seventy
million dollar. Let's get out of this deal and let's
go to a big super conference.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
Why well, but that's the curiosity in terms of the
details related to the pack whatever they are, right, and
you've got all the regents, all the boards, everybody's meeting tonight.
We're seeing all these notices over the next twenty four
hours that everybody's gonna have their conversations to try to
hash things out. The ACC is a whole other mets like,
you know, you could have said that in a meeting
(28:02):
with us, we could have talked about this instead. Well,
you know, you can wait till you're twenty thirty six,
and you know, North Carolina is really all mad. But
for the PAC twelve, Like, one of the things that
was listed along with the proposed Apple deal was the
concept that you'd still be selling off games to ESPN,
(28:24):
ABC and Fox among others. Right, whoever else wants to gain.
So it's not necessarily an exclusivity deal. But so I'd
love to see the financials of that. How that pairs,
you know, like when we talk about players and all, right,
here's their base salary, but here's some incentives and whatever else,
Like what would the conference do in terms of dollars
(28:46):
and cents? Which games do they have to have protected
from Apple? So is it all just a bunch of
the also rans that would be available to these others?
Because how attractive is that after a while, Yes, you
still have to fill up your college football Saturdays from
nine am Pacific to midnight when Hawaii winds up. But
(29:09):
I think there's enough college football still being played that
you're not going to overpay for the ants. Larry and
lesser than product. You just wait, just wait two years
a we can put it all together right now. So
just like it almost happened to Super League in soccer,
just like it almost happened in Ted Lasso. Sorry spoiler,
whych If you haven't watched it by now watch college football.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Well, the Hall of Fame game is mercifully over. After
a light delay postponed the beginning of the fourth quarter
for a while. The Browns win it over.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
Zach Wilson and the Jets twenty one sixteen joining us
now on the hotline of men. Who I guarantee you
has seen the movie The Night the Lights went out
in Georgia. He is pro footb Paul Hall of Very
Good voter as we played the Hall of Very Good
game tonight, longtime NFL insider. Check him out on Twitter
at Jason Cole sixty two. It is Jason Cole. What's happening, buddy?
Speaker 5 (30:12):
You know who's gonna be the the charter member of
the Hall of Very Good. Zach Wilson. Baby, he's going
He's going in right now.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
He's gonna be very good. Wow, you even you even
like him more than I do?
Speaker 5 (30:25):
I thought you were been going Zack, he's back. Baby,
we got two. We got two franchise quarterbash think that's.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
So meny oh something that told me talking to it. We
got two franchise. Guy, I watch him tode at fifty
seven yard pats.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
He's gonna be great now.
Speaker 5 (30:42):
All the baby there you go, beg by.
Speaker 7 (30:47):
Best judge quarterbacks seven Ready, Roger's number one. Den, It's
Zach Den, It's name is Tell me I'm wrong. I'll
fight you all right.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Sure, ain't Richard Todd no more.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
He's still had the best hair. No, Roger, just just
run how great? J call? Now, be honest, how great.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
You're all thinking. You're all thinking like, oh, if Rogers
goes down, we're set. We're still We're still crising the
super Bowl. No no question about it.
Speaker 7 (31:18):
No not no no no no no no no no no,
not after what you saw this.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
I'm watching the game. I'd rather have Mike Tarico playing
quarterback for the Jets. So he has to come in
after Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (31:32):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
He probably got a lot of insight in that long interview.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Hey, great, listen. There's so many great visuals in the
game tonight. All of them were Aaron Rodgers on the sideline.
I mean, how impressed were you by how well he
walked on the sideline?
Speaker 5 (31:45):
How you avow he.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
Avoided injury when the lights went out, didn't trip over anything.
I mean, it was pretty pretty impressive night by Rogers.
Speaker 5 (31:53):
Didn't get it, didn't get any turf toe, No, no,
yet he got more. We've got more airtime him or
sala Is it even close? No?
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Did he have more airtime than Tarico? That's the real quod. Yeah,
I don't know, man. I think it was him and
Joe Klecko who had the most airtime tonight.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Joe, There's nothing beats that interview with Clecco talking about
the technical side of football. Not a single person understood
what he was talking about, not one, not one.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
You know, the three technique was something I invented back
in nineteen eighty.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
Do this, oh please don't do this.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
But I'll tell you we made it to football. The
Jets look great, of course, their backups look great. The
Browns fifth string looks.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Okay, that's what we learned.
Speaker 5 (32:44):
Yeah, that's we learned so much about how the season
is going to play out from this one night. It's
it's the lessons are just they're so deep. Heyk Ellen Mond,
you know, just lighten it up like crazy. And whoever
the three named guy that had a quarterback at the
end of the game for the Browns. He was awesome, fantastic.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
I just want to tell you this. The Jets scored
sixteen points tonight. How many points did the Jet score
when they won Super Bowl three? Sixteen? I think in
Arian Foster's script, this season is done.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
Okay, yeah, stop stop, don't do this, don't don't do this,
don't count.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Well, let me go to actual football that you watch today.
Ja Cole, you're reporting watching the forty nine ers and
and everybody wondering what happens with Trey Lance when this
is all said and done.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
You know, it's a really tough tobate. In my mind,
they might have to keep all three and even keep
Randon Allen on the on the practice squad, you know,
the way that they got through quarterbacks in San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
Jeff Garcon. Yeah, they'll keep him, sure, Yeah, they'll.
Speaker 5 (33:53):
Bring him back. I just look the ghost of John
Brodie's thinking I can throw it around a little bit too.
I mean real wow wow, Okay, there y a tittle
you know coming back coming back as well from from
athletes and here we go, look Brock party like there's
(34:17):
not a competition. Okay, anybody who's thinking that there's not
any Shanahan pretty much that indicated that today and he's
kind of indicated it all along. But everybody keeps coming back. Well,
they've got a three quarterback, now they don't. They got
one guy who they're leaning on heavily because he knows
how to operate the offense, and they got two guys
who are you know, damaged goods in one way or
(34:42):
the other. Right, Like Sam Darnold has got a big arm,
but you know, not the smartest guy in there, and
you know in the in the room, let's just put
it that way, and not particularly athletic. Like they tried
to run one of those bootleg throws with him today
and he just couldn't turn his hips at all to
(35:03):
get behind this throw. And you know, he managed to
make the throw, which was kind of impressive because he
has a great arm talent, but it was not the
way you know, like you practice it right when you
do that little reverse food to the to the to
the left. I mean, so they can't run the same
kind of offense that they're going to run with Rock
Perty with with Sam Darnold. And then Trey Lance comes
(35:26):
in here, and yeah, he looks fine, and the ball's
coming out faster, and he looks like he knows the
offense and he's learned a lot and all this other stuff.
And then he's going up against the third string guys
and just throws an interception right in the middle of
the field, and you know, and they're in, you know,
like they're starting from their own twenty and he throws
(35:47):
it at like the thirty yard line, and that's probably
a pick six going back, or at the very least,
you're giving up points because you've given you know, the
other team, you know, the ball and plus and plus territory.
It's just it's just hard to watch guys who you
know have a lot of talent but are missing something.
(36:07):
And both Donald and Trede Lance are missing something. And
I'm not sure how you picked between those two. Guess
if you're only going to keep one, well, no, I.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Solve it for you. Zach Wilson for Trey Lance. Boom,
done and it's done. Everything is done.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
I'm not sure if that's a good trade for the jet.
I gotta tell you that.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute. What have I been
telling you?
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Wait a minute now, listen, I've told you. Look, Zach Wilson, Look.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
Zack Wilson is no good Okay, but I'm not telling
you that's a good trade. So there you go. Okay,
I'm just okay.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Okay, so okay, so new so new trade. Then Zach
Wilson for Jonathan Taylor.
Speaker 5 (36:49):
Who says, now about about how about Zach Wilson for
Sam Darnold? How would that go over you?
Speaker 1 (36:56):
No, what I really want is the Raiders to trade
for Trey Lance, so they Garoppolo can have to have
Trey Lance looking over his shoulder again.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Well, yeah, the problem is that you know he won't
really be looking over his shoulder because you know, Garoppolo
is going to be down on his knees at some
point in time, we know, in pain, because he's just
going to get hurt. Oh God, poor Jimmy g To
be that good looking and to get hurt that often
is really kind of a Travis.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
You got a lot of people standing around trying to
make you feel bad.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
I'm sure said he's looking at merror, going, man, I'm
good looking. This just this body does not want to
cooperate with me, don't.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
I'm just I'm knowlto tell you, for all the rugged
good looks he got, the rest of that body is
made out of brittle. That is exactly what's going on.
I mean, he's got a chisel, a chisel chiseled face
that you know, looks like it's made out of you know, bronze.
And then yeah, the rest of it, We're not giving
you much equipment the rest of the way. Sorry, Sorry, Jimmy,
(37:59):
he didn't get a lot of good substance for the
rest of that body. Sorry. I know.
Speaker 1 (38:03):
I like how you sides that my big Zach Wilson
for Jonathan Taylor trade. But I mean, I think that works.
He wants out.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
I'm sure you think that works.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
You think Jimmery wouldn't say no. Of course he would
say yes, come on, of course he would say you.
Speaker 5 (38:15):
I think he wouldn't say no. How do I exactly
evaluate that? No, he would absolutely say no, that's just yeah,
why are we doing this kind of pretend trade? That
you know on the internet that we see like from
(38:35):
you know, from zappos dot com or something like that.
Speaker 3 (38:39):
That's where you buy shoes. That's an actual place.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
Yeah, it is an actual place. But it sounds good.
Is so you know made up spot?
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Well it's close to Bailey Zappi. Is he gonna win
the job?
Speaker 5 (38:52):
The reporters from Zappos who cover the NFL, I think
that the Zach Wilson Jonathan Taylor trade really could. We
could really sell them on that they need another quarterback
there behind Anthony Richardson. And you know, Taylor's not happy.
So because he's not happy, they're going to want to
get rid of him because he's going to be a
cancer in the lion. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Sure, Zappo's you got free returns. If it doesn't work
out the.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Right, we can always send Taylor back, you know, if
Zach Wilson becomes something. That's what we do.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Look, Zacho says, find popular shoes, clothing, backpacks and more
for kids and adults. Plus enjoy free shipping, risk, free
returns and a selection.
Speaker 5 (39:33):
How much are you not even charging for this spot
right now? Are you? That's the best part of it? Well, yeah,
I know, I did. This is my mistake. But you're
doing now the commercial for them a for free okay,
B Like, are you going to send him a bill
for this spot? You know, especially it's a live spot.
I give him charge him for that on the live spot.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
How much money have we funneled to the Pro Football
Hall of Very good by having you on every week?
I mean, the turnstiles just keep going. Yeah, I gotta.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
There's nothing that sells the Hall of Hall of Fame
better than you pumping it up every week. It's good
you're the spokesman for the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
Their kids.
Speaker 5 (40:20):
Hey, you know what if you could take Berman's spot,
If you can fly to Canton this weekend and just
knock Berman off the stage so we don't have to
hear his just insipid commentary for the whole day, like
wanting god, you know whatever, all that corc We just
(40:42):
can we not do that? Can we just not have
Berman do this? Can we just stop? Please? I'll pay
you to go. I'll pay for your ticket to go
if you just take ban spot. I really will, all right.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
So if I do that and then I just all
I say is Rogers, would that be okay?
Speaker 5 (41:02):
Yeah? Actually that was that's been my night, Jacol
Speaker 3 (41:06):
That's been my night, all night,
