Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (00:29):
Oh, let's go, stay go, big boy, let's go. Let's go.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
How is your Friday?
Speaker 5 (00:37):
Kind of fun to talk here on a Friday where
we typically do Sunday nights.
Speaker 4 (00:41):
Good day.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
I was waiting for the show.
Speaker 6 (00:43):
I was working hard all day waiting for you to
return all my text I'm ready to go.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Now, let's do it, my friend? What's going on?
Speaker 5 (00:52):
Even when I return your text? You screw it up?
I know, No, you screwed it up.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
Okay, let's let's let's bring this up right off.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
There twelve he's a doing the show, and you think
you get it right by.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
Now right, But again, I don't know how many You're
not my boss?
Speaker 6 (01:07):
You know what I want people to know, between you
and the producers and and the second producers, we allegedly
have and these alleged third producers. Guys, it's like I
get anything done for crying out loud.
Speaker 5 (01:21):
Well, once we can read your handwriting and on to
your texts that are like, are you there? I want
to take you back through this.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
I got to write an update real quick for the SEGA.
Speaker 6 (01:31):
I'm sorry, go ahead, what's your update you have to write?
I'm sure the SEGA wants my help too. I got
to do everything else around.
Speaker 5 (01:38):
Here, Arnie, you have Roman numerals with one sentence of
stories you want to talk.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
About, twenty of them.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Twent got worse to first on here for like the
eighth straight time.
Speaker 6 (01:49):
We have not done worse the first we do. We
do it every year. We've not done it this year.
Speaker 5 (01:54):
So I get a text from Marnie. The very first
text that he sends me this morning is this simple, right,
very simple, Bernie, last hour. My response works for me.
You give me a thumbs up now real quick. Before
you say anything, Patrick, just in any conversation, wouldn't you
(02:17):
assume that means that person has taken care of, say
a Bernie Frattle in this instance, coming on the last hour.
Don't you think in that kind of verbiage. It seems
pretty clear what's going on? Oh yeah, cluckly clear right?
Speaker 4 (02:31):
If you agree, you agree with that?
Speaker 3 (02:34):
I mean, I absolutely do.
Speaker 5 (02:35):
Bernie last hour I reply works for me. I get
a thumbs up the sager this is as cut and
I mean, I don't feel like I have any culpability
here because that to me, you're for too right now, Sager,
which way.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Would you look at?
Speaker 2 (02:49):
That?
Speaker 7 (02:50):
Seems clear?
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Clear? Right?
Speaker 5 (02:52):
So I send the tweet out for who's on the show,
Tyler Dragon's coming on. We're gonna be tight because we
got one of the bright young minds of the National
Football League on this is Arnie is about to lose
another bet.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
And I thought you and Bernie that's bothering the hell
out of me too, and Bernie Froud in the last hour,
Arnie's first text to me literally seconds before we go
on the ear is Bernie's coming on.
Speaker 5 (03:15):
I thought you had this set up. And then you're like, well,
Todd Furman's a regular on Fridays.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
Well, you said you at Bertie Frado, You're You're totally
not telling the truth. That's you. I don't know how
much more truthful that could be. I'll screenshot the text message.
Speaker 6 (03:29):
You you you told me, Hey, I'm not true, but
I think Todd Furman's a regular on Fridays on Friday.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
I first said that to you.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
You know what, I'm making it up now.
Speaker 5 (03:39):
I don't no office to Jason and Mike. I don't
listen to their show on Friday nights. I have no
idea who the regular is on their show on Friday nights.
Speaker 6 (03:47):
No offus, And I take it back. You didn't tell
me that. Bernie told me that.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
Except your apologies.
Speaker 6 (03:56):
No, I'm not gonna apologize. I told you if somebody.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Told me that. So Bernie told.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
Me that that Todd is uh as a regular on Friday.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
So so I changed it and got Todd for us.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
This really seems as if you're trying to point a
finger at me and make me the bad guy when
I am not the.
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Bad I'm sorry, you know, I'm sorry. I get I
work harder than everybody else around it. That's what That's
what I apologize for. I'm sorry I work harder than
everybody else. As for my picks, whenever I do bad
in the preseason, that just means I go crazy good
in the regular season.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
You know that by now, come, I don't know if
that's true.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
In fact, the last you had a good preseason last year,
the preseason being the free season.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
You did pretty well last season.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
It's killing me. The Giants were up twenty one to three.
My goodness.
Speaker 5 (04:46):
The year before that, the free season. You wouldn't even
pick games the last week of the preseason because it
was going so hard.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
I was so bad, Yeah, I was. I should have
been fired.
Speaker 6 (04:57):
I'm about to I started six and seven and I'm
about to lose both games for crying out loud.
Speaker 7 (05:02):
So let me get this straight, Arnie.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Oh, here comes the.
Speaker 7 (05:06):
The guys that you heard of were doing well in
the game, and then the rest of the night, guys
you'd never heard of were playing, and you're upset that
it didn't go well.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Like you had picked it right whenever the good players
were in the game.
Speaker 6 (05:19):
Of you, guys, do you guys understand that jobs are
decided Like dtr the quarterback for.
Speaker 7 (05:26):
I think he's got a job.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
I think he's why Why because he looks so good
in the game, right, the sager?
Speaker 7 (05:31):
How about that? No, No, I'm talking about the Giants. Literally,
guys we've never heard of were playing. The bulk of
the game tonight.
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Wy do you turn this to another game? Arnie?
Speaker 6 (05:41):
Well, it goes to show you're you're like all the
other shows tonight, Arnie, not last night.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
I don't care about the preseason show? Do you do?
You guys even like football? Do you like sports?
Speaker 7 (05:53):
I love NFL football, which is why I don't like
the preseason. It's not NFL football a little.
Speaker 6 (05:58):
Bit frustrating after you go six months of not having
any football.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
You would take it, you know.
Speaker 6 (06:03):
It's like if you've been on a desert island and
you haven't eaten for six months, and then I give
you a burger, but I drop it in.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
The sand first. Still eat You brush the sand off
and you'll eat it and you'll enjoy it too.
Speaker 7 (06:12):
How about that? I just like I watch a quarter
of every game in the preseason.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Why are you silly?
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Is this all about your picks? Which is why you're
starting so confrontational. You screw up the guests for the
show tonight, which, by the way, Patrick, nice say, Buddy
Todd Furman is coming on tonight, and I think Bernie,
we'll still join us as well.
Speaker 7 (06:30):
Got it?
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Wait up, pick it up, big dogs? Gee, wait and.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Go mister producer, whatever your name is.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
And then there is this Atlanta Bingles pick that's about
to go against you too.
Speaker 7 (06:43):
What are these based on, Arnie? Exactly? Good question is
you're picking one team over another based on what?
Speaker 3 (06:50):
Based on what?
Speaker 6 (06:51):
When someone says, hey, Patrick Mahomes is playing the entire
first half, I'm saying to myself, hey, you know there's I.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
Can't understand that. But like the Giants tonight, all the
players we knew stop playing after they were leading. Therefore
the other team came back.
Speaker 6 (07:07):
You know what kicks you when you're down. You weren't
talking like this when I was picking it. No, you
weren't talking like this when I was picking like eighty
correct every year one year at no, one year out
of the last ten.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Well, if you wish every year.
Speaker 7 (07:24):
The question remains, your picks in the preseason are based
on what?
Speaker 4 (07:29):
That's curious? Wait, hold on, hold, can I ask a
question understatement?
Speaker 6 (07:33):
This is like the one bad year I've had in
the preseason out of the last This is what Arnie
she should do, is hair?
Speaker 3 (07:40):
When I started doing.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
This baseball picks, there's such a thing as you can
pick what's the score after five innings? They should have
that for preseason football.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
You could do half time pats. Yeah, you could do that,
well first quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
Look, let's go back and reset your record at halftime
with these.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Oh so you mean I get to adjust my record
to better and what it is? Yet you'll do that? Yeah,
No you're not.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
I'm trying.
Speaker 6 (08:04):
You're You're in a good one. You love when my
picks goes south? You like send me text. It's like
it's like it's it's like a like finding a pot
of gold for you or something like that.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
Well, I can we be real clear for a moment.
Speaker 5 (08:18):
If I knew Arnie was picking real money or putting
real money out there on this, I'd be a little
bit more sympathetic. I love it that it's it's all
about his excited he is about picking games.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
Right, No, I do put real money on it. But
just don't tell my.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Wife on that. How about that?
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Okay, Well that's fair enough, that's right.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
It's goodness she doesn't listen to the show.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
But I can get away with about anything because I
don't know if my wife has ever listened to me
on the air. It is a final though, Arnie, as
we come to you live from the tirack dot Com studios.
The Giants have beaten the care almost said the Pittsburgh Panthers.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Of the USFL.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
The Giants have beaten the Carolina Panthers twenty one to nineteen.
Speaker 7 (08:57):
It's a two point play in the fourth.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
And we should add we saw some starters for a
little bit tonight for the Giants.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Shocking, which is what I've been telling you all this time.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Daniel Jones eight of nine for sixty nine yards.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
What does that mean? It means according to you, and
that means nothing.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
Yeah, this is a good first quarter.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
No, it means the first series was very much worth washing.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
That's right, Darren.
Speaker 7 (09:19):
Darren Waller was all over the place.
Speaker 6 (09:21):
Oh did he look good? That pretty good move there.
Huh uh plank.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
I am not in a bad mood.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
I get so triggered. Look here's the thing I'm watching,
Derek Carr on Sunday. I'm watching Darren Waller tonight.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Car looks like MVP.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
But go ahead. They just look so happy.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
It's like these two dudes, they look like they're having
the time. At Waller's wearing twelve. He looks like a
damn wide receiver out there. Derek carr Is his teammates.
He's like telling things to the young guys. He's waving
to the fans. He's rooting for you guys.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
Oh you're watching. No, he's still rooting for Vegas. He's
still rooting for the Raiders. You know that. Well, that's
awfully nice of him.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
I'm seeing that the Raiders just let him walk away
while Carson Wentz pulled a first round and a second
round pick, and so did Sam Darnold. But we let
him walk away for nothing. That's fine. Yeah, Darren Waller
did look really good tonight. Three catches, thirty yards. Do
we have any more concerns, Arnie? Now, you had already
ended c J. Stroud's career. He was a bust after
(10:25):
his first quarter. Do the concerns ratchet up after another
less than stellar night from Bryce Young?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Oh? Come on, you already know the answer to that.
Stop it.
Speaker 6 (10:33):
Don't play stupid. You know what's going on. You're reading
Twitter just like I do. He looks horrible out there, horrible.
Oh my goodness, man, we just stopped that. I'm telling
you this, I betting against Carolina every game and pull
the bus off over. I'm off the bandwagon on that
for a while.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
I think they should start Matt Krouch. You see how
good he looked tonight. I'm just decided. I've got a
new philosophy on all you. I'm just going with you
on every hot take. You think Bryce Young has done great?
Speaker 6 (11:05):
The gmright, so I'm wrong that you you have not.
Obviously you're not read. I'm agreeing with you one ndred percent.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Did you see how badd he looks?
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Well, if he's not gonna start, who's gonna play Matt.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
He's gonna start. He's gonna have a lot of growing pains.
Speaker 6 (11:20):
That's why I'm telling everybody right now, bet against Carolina.
They're not winning their division, their their seasons already.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
O v e R. It's it's done all for them.
Speaker 6 (11:30):
They're not doing any Bet the under every game against
them too.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
That could probably be some of the best news that
Panther fans have heard tonight.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Now they'll be pretty upset. It's gonna be a long
year for them.
Speaker 5 (11:41):
Sorry, you know what I'll go I'm with you on this, Arnie,
he looked terrible. I would sit down and talk to
the GM think about going in another direction.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Who thought he should be the first pick in the draft.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
H Tubby, you like what you saw then, so you're I'm.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Agreeing with you.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Why do I need to see any more than hold
on twelve passes from the number one pick in the
draft in the preseason, in the first quarter to know
that he's a freaking bust. Get rid of everyone. You
got to start over after these two. I'm with you, dude, Like,
like the Seger said, this shows tonight.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
That's right.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
I'm not just now I agree with you when you're
getting mad at me most being sarcastic.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
But let's be honest. He doesn't look very good.
Speaker 8 (12:22):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
You could tell that this is going to be a
problem way though.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
He goes up against number one defenses that are coming
after him full speed ahead.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
It's not going to be a pretty year for this guy.
I promise you that.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Those teams playing half speed tonight and he still couldn't
get it done.
Speaker 6 (12:36):
Played against you know what I was in the lineup
against tonight. He was playing against people like me.
Speaker 4 (12:42):
The Giants did at least play their starters.
Speaker 5 (12:45):
We're waiting for a final and literally, I think the
only concern here is for the gamblers, because what was
the number in the Bengals Falcons game because it's ten
to six, Atlanta has the football back with eight.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Wow, is this game taking so long?
Speaker 3 (12:59):
I don't know. Atlanta was favored by six and a
half is what it was, so they have to score
a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
So you need them to go down and score for you, right.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Yeah, they got a score otherwise it's done.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
So for me, Well, they have the football and it
doesn't look like they're trying to matriculate it down the
field too quickly.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
No, they're killing me. They're going to kill me.
Speaker 5 (13:17):
But if Atlanta can get down the field and score,
look out, you'll get a win tonight. Ten to six,
just over what five and a half left in that game,
So Giants win. We'll talk a little bit more about
how they look tonight. Daniel Jones had that first series,
more struggles for Bryce Young and as we mentioned Atlanta,
I still don't I mean Desmond Rinderd or Desmond Ridderd.
(13:38):
The numbers looked okay, But that was a bit of
a bone crushing interception. So we'll get to that coming
up later on in the program. Plus, there's a little
baseball in the docket tonight. Arnie wants to talk worse
to first in the NFL, and we got a rockstar
Tyler Dragon joining us. Next, we mentioned we're coming to
you from the tire rack dot com studios and shopping

We're joined by Tyler Dragon. Great follow on Twitter at
(15:29):
the Tyler Dragon covering all things NFL for USA Today.
All right, so, just based on tonight, I know you
wrote an article this week, Tyler, about and thanks for
coming on with us. I know you wrote an article
this week about Derek Carr. Is it possible, after what
we've seen so far from Darren Waller that the Raiders
could lament moving on from Waller a little bit more
than Carr? It just seems as if Brian Dayball has
(15:52):
it dialed in how he wants to use how he
wants to use Waller in his offense.
Speaker 8 (16:00):
So the Raiders, I believe, are going to take a
step back this season, not only with Derek losing Derek Carr,
but also losing Waller. I believe Derek Carr is a
better quarterback than Jimmy Garofolo and Waller is one of
the best tight ends in the National Football League, and
they're all wearing different uniforms this coming season. So the
(16:20):
Raiders are going to take a step back. I have
been possibly at best finishing third in the AFC West,
maybe even fourth behind the Denver Broncos. And as far
as the New York Giants go, he's the best threat
that Daniel Jones has on the outside. Last year it
(16:41):
was definitely take Kuon Barkley and Sakewan Barkley is a
running back. So now Daniel Jones has a legit pass
catching target at tight end, and I expect him to
have a big season in New York.
Speaker 6 (16:53):
You know, Tyler, I've got the rags to riches story.
I said that the Saints would going to the Super Bowl.
I got car having a big year I think I
think they can get the number one seed, of which
it gives him a big advantage. I think he's gonna
have a tremendous year. I think he's bouncing back in
a big way.
Speaker 8 (17:10):
Well, you're partially right. I would say going to the
Super Bowl is a little bit extreme. However, winning the
NFC South, I think you're on track with that. You
look at the quarterbacks in that division, and Derek Carr
is easily the best quarterback. They have a top ten
ring defense. I really like their receiving corps, and then
(17:32):
when Alvin Kamara comes back from a suspension, he's the
best running back in the division, especially the most experienced.
So I really do like the New Orleans Stace and
the NSC South, and they look pretty good going up
against Joint and practices against the LA Chargers this week.
I was there for a couple of days and I
(17:52):
saw them up close and personal, and they performed pretty
well against one of the best teams in AFC.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
I saw one of the Raiders beat reporters talking about
watching the Chargers and Joint practices and he said, I
watched Justin Herbert, and the thing I came away with
was wondering how.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
The Chargers ever lose a game.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
How impressive does it seem the progression now they get paid.
I mean it's do or die I think for that
coaching staff. But man, with what the Chargers have in
Herbert and what the Chiefs have with Mahomes in that division,
We'll see with the Broncos if they can get anything
out of Russell Wilson. But at least at the top
of that division. Boy, that is a one to two punch.
It's going to be really tough for either the Dodgers
(18:33):
or the Broncos to try to overcome for not the
next two or three years, like for the next decade,
Tyler and I mean, Herbert's just ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
They just haven't been able to put it together.
Speaker 8 (18:44):
Yeah, I mean, Herbert really has all the tools, one
of the strongest arms in the NFL. He's six six,
and he's a mobile. He doesn't get enough credit for
actually being a mobile type quarterback can make all the throws.
You look at the Chargers, they really do have all
the talent in the world to compete and not only
in that division, but be a legit Super Bowl contending.
(19:07):
You have all pros and pro Bowlers across the offense
and the defense, and so they just need to really
learn how to win. And there's something to that because
a lot of those players they haven't really been in
those bright life and big, big playoff games, and there's
something to learning how to win. And I think with
(19:28):
the last couple of seasons, the Chargers lost to the
Las Vegas Raiders in a must win game to get
into the playoffs. Last season, we all know they had
that collapse in Jacksonville in the playoffs. So this is
the season where, Okay, learn from those experiences and see
what you can do this year. I believe it's a
playoffs or bust at minimum for the LA Chargers. Now,
(19:50):
are they good enough to beat the Kansas City Chiefs?
On paper, they can compete with the Kansas City Chiefs,
but the Chiefs have the best quarterback in the NFL,
one of the best tight ends in NFL history, and
one of the best coaches in NFL history, and they
know how to win. They prove they know how to
win by being most multi time Super Bowl champions. So
(20:10):
you have to be able to prove that you can
go up to Kansas City and beat Patrick Mahomes Andy Reid,
Travis Kelcey and company and the Chargers. They have the talent,
but it's going to be difficult because those guys have
the experience and they have the X factor, which is
the best player in all the NFL. And Patrick Maholls Tyler.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
The bigger signing or should I say the better signing
Ezekiel Elliott to the Patriots or Dalvin cook to the Jets.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Who gives them the better of the two signings?
Speaker 8 (20:41):
Well, have you seen Ezekiel Elliot the last couple of years.
He looks like he's a little bit long in the
tooth and his best years are behind him. And that's
not a knock on Ezekiel Ellie. He has had a
fantastic career, but the Dallas Cowboys just kind of wore
him into the ground. You kind of see it. He's
(21:01):
passed this prime. I do believe that Dalvin Cooks Steele
has a couple of really good seasons left in a tank. Definitely.
I can see another thousand yard rushing season for him,
and he had the sea factor. He's one of the
fastest running backs in the NFL and he's playing a
New York Jets team with the better quarterback and Aaron
(21:23):
Rodgers and you got some weapons on the outside. So
I have Dalvin Cook having a better season this year.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
Tyler, we know you got to get We appreciate your
time on a Friday night, Tyler Dragon at the Tyler
Dragon on Twitter. Thanks for the inside, but we'll talk
to you and soon.
Speaker 8 (21:37):
Thanks for having me on th bad debut.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
I like that.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
Like that, well, I just wanted to. I was gonna
ask him. You let him go so quickly. I want though,
who he liked, the AFC East and if he's told
me the Patriots that are going to be in last
because the Euzekiel Elliott is no big sighting. And by
the way, if they're going to finish in last, I
already think that this might be Belichick's last season coaching
the Patriots. I could definitely see him next year. Him Belichick,
(22:03):
Tom Brady, Caleb Williams all in Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Oh, would you be in dreamland with that? Uh?
Speaker 4 (22:09):
I'd be so happy. You wouldn't You really wouldn't be great.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
I almost there was a part of me that wants
to start believing that Belichick is on the hot seat.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
He's on the hot seat.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Then Why is it Mike Tomlin on the hot seat.
Speaker 6 (22:24):
Well, because there's there is a difference. It's not so
much about the wins and losses. He's not so much
on there about that. But let's you know, let's be honest,
and you know better than anybody with the ownership of
of the Raiders, it's the passing of the torch, you
know what I mean. It goes from uh, you know,
the father to the son until you start, you know,
you want to run it your own way, you want
to bring in your own people. We've seen that a
(22:46):
lot with the Yankees and Steinbrunners when it was past
fully you know, there was always that two or three
year stretch where you pretend like you're doing it together,
but it's really the kind of like with Jerry Jones
and Steven Jones. Uh, you know, Jerry pretends like he's
really running things, but it's it's really Steven. But you know,
Jerry's not gonna give him one hundred percent control as
long as he's alive.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
So you know that's part of the reason too.
Speaker 6 (23:09):
You from Robert Kraft to his son, maybe his son
when he gets full one percent, he says, hey, I
want to do it in my own way.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
You know, enough is enough?
Speaker 4 (23:18):
So are you?
Speaker 5 (23:18):
Are you theorizing before we get to our trending update
with Steve de Seger, that it is Jonathan Kraft that's
now making all the calls for the Patriots and not
Robert Kraft. Is that kind of what you're theorizing here?
Speaker 3 (23:32):
You? You? What do you kid me?
Speaker 6 (23:35):
You you think Robert Kraft is deciding all the thing's
going on with the New England Patriots?
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Are you serious about that?
Speaker 6 (23:41):
At his age and what that guy's been through the
last couple of years, maybe he makes you know, he's
like more like a figurehead. There's no way this guy's
making one hundred percent decisions on his own.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Is just not happening.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Then, Okay, Jonathan Craft isn't a I mean, Robert Kraft
is the only guy that's been out and saying, well,
we want to win. We're not about chasing win records.
I feel like you're putting a little.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
Bit more on what Robert Kraft has said than theorizing
that it's Jonathan Kraft wanting to to blaze a new trail.
I feel like the younger Crafts love Bill Belichick.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
Maybe I'm wrong.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
I mean, I was reading an article on this because
I'm real fired up about this for some unknown reason,
I have no idea, but I can't because if Bill
Belichick is in, say, none of us are regardless of
what we do in life. I mean, everybody can be
fired in a heartbeat of Bill Belichick's on the freaking
hot seat because three years without a Super Bowl title.
But I feel like this has all been started by
(24:33):
Bob Kraft and kind of running his mouth. So now
you're telling me that you don't even think it's his decision.
You think that it's the younger Crafts who haven't said
damn thing about isn't.
Speaker 6 (24:41):
Any different than when Jerry Jones runs his mouth a
little bit and ends up causting his team like exter
you know, all that stuff he used to say about
Dak Prescott and he ended up signing him anyway for
the big money. Not that they want to give him
an extension, you know. Again, So they just sometimes say
things they shouldn't have said, or they have their own
radios show or whatever it is with social media nowadays.
(25:02):
But no, there's no doubt in my mind that the
younger kids are certainly calling the shot.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Look, how many younger kids. We went we just went
through on the list that have taken over for their fight.
I didn't even bring it up earth say, but that's
been for a while.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
Now, you know, that's been a that's been a minute.
I think we're on like forty years on that one now.
But hey, as we come to you live from the
tire rack dot Com studios. Thanks to Tyler Dragon for
joining us, ladies and gentlemen, the most important piece here
at Fox Sports Radio, Steve the Sager is in the
house to get us caught up on everything going on
in the world of sports.
Speaker 4 (25:35):
What's up Steve?
Speaker 7 (25:36):
Hello, gentlemen, it is so good to hear you on
a Friday night and you're still set for regular Sunday
night show.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Correct, that is correct.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
I gave you Sunday night off, right, I gave you
Sunday night off.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
Yeah, No, that's the correct answer.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Did I work at Sunday night?
Speaker 7 (25:51):
I am not scheduled for Sunday night. It hashing to
do with you. As of now. The Chargers home exhibition
against the Saints is on. But why would that even
be a consideration, do you X? Because there's actual weather
coming to southern California. Put it this way, there's never
been a tropical storm watch issued by the National Hurricane
(26:12):
Center for this part of the country. It has now happened. Actually,
it's currently approaching Baja California, Hurricane Hillary. It's due to
be a tropical storm by the time it reaches California.
It's going to be rain all day Sunday, day and night.
And already the three ball clubs in southern California have
had their games for this Sunday rescheduled due to the
(26:33):
approaching hurricane, so they'll each play doubleheader's Saturday instead. Today
it was about ninety five degrees and clear on the
way into the studio. It's not going to be like
that Sunday. The forecast for the Sunday night football again,
a Charger home game is rain and eighty degrees. So
what's the problem, you say, Well, it's not just that,
(26:54):
you know, it could be windy. It's the rate of rain,
and that'll be especially a problem more inland, like the deserts,
like Palm Springs for example. They're talking about areas like
that getting as much rain as they get in one
year and getting it in one day.
Speaker 6 (27:09):
Yeah, three years of rain in three days. I'm like,
get out of here. They can't be right now.
Speaker 7 (27:15):
Most definitely a risk of flash floods in parts of California, Arizona,
and Nevada once we get the actual storm arriving on Sunday.
So Sunday's two major league soccer games in LA have
already been postponed. UCLA Women's soccer defending national champs will
play Sunday morning instead of Sunday afternoon. But again, as
(27:36):
of now, the NFL game, which is probably great news
for NFL Network, is still on. For those who don't know,
NFL Network not only carries a lot of preseason games,
but this one is taking place at the stadium that
is quite literally a stone's throw from their studios. You
could literally take an NFL football and throw it from
their offices and hit the stadium that the Chargers and
(27:57):
Rams playing next door. So that would be bad news
for them on many fronts.
Speaker 6 (28:02):
To people would be at the game, like zero is
like nobody would go to the game.
Speaker 7 (28:06):
No, it's football. People will go and especially if you
can tailgate, you know that topical that is part of
the attraction for football. After all, I wonder if they
can even move the game up, because then what about
NFL network schedule. Everything's in concert with the two teams,
of course, not just TV. But keep this in mind. A,
(28:28):
it's an exhibition. B. The Saints and Chargers have just
played starters against each other today and yesterday in joint practices.
A lot of those starters won't be playing on Sunday night.
We'll see.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
Do you think that? So?
Speaker 5 (28:40):
In other words, you're saying, keep an eye on this
just might not happening, happen at all.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
I'm saying that although there is that translucent roof over
the stadium, as we know, it is open ended on
each side, which is why we had that Monday night
game with Gruden, and the Raiders have a weather delay
at the start because of lightning right though, and there's
no chance of rain falling on the fifty yard line.
So there's that. But it's also the people and the
(29:06):
workers that are involved in an NFL event. What is
it going to be like for them going in and
going out? I think that's maybe.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
We're going to be doing a vote. Then should the
SEGA come to work on Sunday if there's no games? No?
Speaker 7 (29:19):
Wanted to be No?
Speaker 3 (29:21):
What do you mean? No? Maybe? Let's take a vote
on it. We'll see what the people have to say.
Speaker 7 (29:26):
Well, it's completely clear weather at the moment, and at
Dodger Stadium, LA's one eleven in a row. By the way,
They're tied with Miami one to one in the top
of the second inning. In the late game, Rockies lead
twelve one over the White Sox, bottom of the seventh,
battle of two of the worst teams. The Orioles are
winning again, five to two at Oakland, bottom of the
third and also in progress in Anaheim, sho hey Otani
(29:48):
has hit a grand Slam against Tampa Bay, his forty
third home run of the season. The Angels are up
five to one on the Rays in the top of
the fourth.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Thy goodness, they didn't trade him and he'll just walk
away for nothing.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
Hey goodness, that's right.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
The Angels are only down seven games in the wild
card standings. Seattle bottom of the ninth, leads to nothing
at Houston. Julio Rodriguez has had an incredible week at
the plate. He had nine straight hits. At one point
he had his twenty first homer. Tonight, Twins lead five
to one against the Pirates in the eighth and the
Brewers have a six four lead at Texas, top of
the eighth earlier wins for Boston and Cincinnati reds on
(30:23):
a homer in the ninth and Boston sending the Yankees
to a sixth straight loss.
Speaker 5 (30:28):
Back to you, do we need to have a conversation
here from the tiraq dot com studios about Hurricane Hillary.
I mean, is everyone prepared and ready to go? We
take the necessary precautions. Boys, you feeling okay?
Speaker 7 (30:41):
People in southern California just aren't used to rain. Oh
so driving in regular rain is a thing. It's the
joke around is that the local news will actually go
on storm watch. You know, this is an actual storm that,
for the first time is making its way through Sunday.
So I I hesitate to think how local TV will
(31:02):
cover that. It might actually be like twelve straight hours
of local TV news.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
I had the CBS news affiliate from San Francisco up
right now, and they've got the radar while they're doing
Niners talk. Boys, we might want to start covering this
right now, how about you? Hurricane Hillary Arnie has been
strength into a Category four storm that happened earlier today.
It is expected to weaken before reaching California, but the
(31:28):
National Weather Service warn the system was expected to bring
significant impacts to the Southwest into early next week.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
I saw the monsoons in Arizona. Was it yesterday or today?
It was unbelievable. I've been in some of those, and
this is the hardest I've ever seen the rain and
the Sega's right. Regular rain, just a decent rain slows
down the freeways in Los Angeles to a grinding halt.
Speaker 7 (31:55):
And it's not just because of driver's reactions. It's because
the streets never get washed away from all the oil
and everything else that builds up. So trying to stop
in the first rain of the season or something like that,
it's a little bit different. But context I've been saying
the last couple hours. The National Weather Service says no
tropical storm has made landfall in southern California since September
(32:15):
of nineteen thirty nine.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Thirty ninety.
Speaker 7 (32:19):
That will change on Sunday. And by the way, I
don't know what Arny's pick was, but the Falcons kicked
a field goal at the end in a tie with
the Bengals thirteen all the final. Once again, overtime is
illegal in NFL. Preseason.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Now I am six and nine now on my picks,
and I started off three and oh, so wow, this
is a slump something like that.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
Here's one other number. Some areas we'll see two to
four six inch, six two to four inches, others four
to six and some parts of Socow will even receive
ten inches of rain. So you'all be safe out there.
Speaker 5 (32:57):
We'll be keeping eyes on it as Hurricane Hill does
more than play havoc with our supports schedule. All right,
when we come back, we mentioned there's some baseball going
on tonight. We got to dive into the late the
Dodgers looking to make it twelve straight. You notice one thing, Patrick,
the over definitely hit on the show tonight.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
I'm kind of surprised by it.
Speaker 5 (33:16):
It really did. Yeah, I'm blown away. We had a
bet Patrick had taken the under fifteen. I had taken
the over fifteen before you would mention the Miami Dolphins.
We're forty minutes in and I'm kind of shocked you
haven't brought up anything last anything about your Dolphins. With
a big injury to tear a Armstead yesterday, but it
looks like he's gonna be oldka He's just old.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
Season almost ended. Yes, I was crying. It was a
tough day, just to make sure that he was okay.
So I'm I'm okay. Now I feel a lot better.
I mean, gosh, that would have just crushed me to pieces.
The whole season would have been down the tubes.
Speaker 4 (33:51):
I thought offensive linemen didn't matter.
Speaker 6 (33:54):
Well, chip away everything, you know what I mean. Sooner
or later, something matters.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
You know what I mean. I mean, well, I mean
it does.
Speaker 4 (34:01):
Yes, That's what I've been telling you this whole time.
Speaker 5 (34:03):
And you tell me I'm an idiot that I don't
watch football because all you need is a quarterback. They
got a quarterback, and all you're doing is complaining about
a corner going down and a tackle going down.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
I mean, come on, Arnie, you're going against your own take.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Individually, maybe they don't mean much, but when you start
losing the scarf and the ear muffs and that hat
and the gloves, hey you start getting cold, Maybe you
could go without one of those things, But when you
start losing them all, that's just too much. Yeah. No,
get technology, Do you get that now? No?
Speaker 5 (34:31):
No, No, You're you're making my point for me, And
I'm grateful for it. I mean, it only took you
ten years to realize it. It takes more than a quarterback.
And oh, by the way, those coordinators really matter.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
All right.
Speaker 5 (34:40):

I was my specialty.

I told you I have so many times, have set Arnie,
I can take the first half for the second half,
Let's split it up.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
And You're like, Nope, don't want to do it.
Speaker 6 (36:38):
I'm here how are you supposed to get any better
if I do all the work?
Speaker 3 (36:42):
You know what I mean? Well, he's supposed to get
better as a host, I fight if I can.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
Okay, well, then how about this. Don't send me a
rundown on, Just don't send me a rundown. Here's the problem.
He can't not. I'm willing to bet when you did
that show with Husky last night, VJ, I bet you
sent him this aim rundown with the sloppy handwriting, right.
I bet whenever you were sitting in with Mike Harmon,
who this is his show, I bet you sent him
(37:07):
the rundown of what you wanted to talk about, didn't you?
Speaker 3 (37:09):
Yes?
Speaker 6 (37:09):
I did, But first of all, not the sloppy I
set you a very good penmanship sheet today. I don't
know what you're talking about. Very readable I printed for you.
Sometimes I wrote some script. I very readable. I did
a very good job today.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
So do you know what I'll do? You know what?
I'll post this.
Speaker 5 (37:31):
Sure, let's post this, and let's see if I'm not
disagreeing with you. I mean, maybe this is a me problem. Right,
I'm the first one to tell you it might be
a mean young.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Guys don't know how to read. You don't know how
to read cursive. You can't write cursive.
Speaker 3 (37:44):
That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (37:45):
Not young, by any stretch of the write cursive.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
I'm curious.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
Absolutely, I can't. I have great cursive handwriting. I'm surprised
my kids are learning cursive writing in school right now.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Oh really, I thought they stopped teaching that.
Speaker 5 (37:57):
Well, my if, my nine year old might not be
getting taught, but she's learning it. I think it's one
of those where she wanted to learn how to do it.
She asked me to ride a Z for her today,
Capital one, Capitol Q. Took me a while, Arnie, I'm
not gonna lie. It's like you just just look over
there real quick, you like Google up on your phone,
try to figure it out.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
Let's hit some tweets because they've been really good tonight. Man.
Speaker 5 (38:22):
It's good to see you guys interacting. You got a
Friday night where you could be out with your girl,
your friend, your partner, whatever, and you're choosing to spend
it with us, and that means the world, all right.
I thought I thought this was pretty good because you
had gone and I'm not necessarily saying hot take you
on this, but I mean laid out your opinion. You
(38:43):
think that one Bill Belichick is on the hot seat, correct.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
And that's just not my opinion. You've heard about that before.
Speaker 5 (38:50):
Well, just because I mean you if everyone else jumps
off a bridge, is Arnie Span you're jumping off a bridge.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
Oh, I'll just wait for you guys to jump off
and see how you do. But no, I believe that
Belichick is on the hot seat, but not so much
that I think it's a perfect storm. He's a little
bit on the hot seat. They're going in the wrong direction.
They're going to finish in last place. We know they're
kind of changing of the guard in the ownership there.
Belichick's not getting any younger. Does he want to retire,
(39:18):
does he want to join Tom Brady who's a part
owner in Vegas? That will take effect probably after the season,
you know, and with a great young quarterback, with someone
like Kate Williams if that turns out to be true,
A lot of factors could decide into something like that.
So I think it's kind of like a perfect storm
with everything out there and the fact that they're gonna
(39:38):
finish in the last place this year.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Again, your opinion, right, you're picking them. That's not like
a done deal.
Speaker 6 (39:44):
No, that's a matter of fact. The SEGA should be
putting that in the update. I'll talk to him about that.
Tchruck or Joe Wright. Belichick won't get fired, Kraft will
move him up to the Well, he is the GM already.
Kraft will move him up to the GM. Then Bill
will hire his kid as head coach. I don't believe
Kraft will ever get of him unless Bill just doesn't
want to be there anymore or just retires. And I
(40:05):
bring up the fact that of why can't his kid
be the head coach? I did bring that up, and
you said, if they like Belichick so much, baby, they
make his kid the next head coach and he's around
for the next thirty plus years. I wouldn't say that's
beyond the realm of possibility. I would I could see
that maybe happening.
Speaker 5 (40:20):
My man, Scottie Oates writes, hearing you guys on Friday
night really throws my internal clock off. I was trying
to figure out if it was Sunday night already.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah, you missed the weekend. That'd be what hell of
a hangover?
Speaker 5 (40:32):
If that was true, I'll say Fox Sports Sunday at
some point tonight, I'm just oh, yeah, for sure, I'm
just calling myself before I have to, And Happy birthday
to our buddy Jason B. Diamond, who acts, who asks
how long does coach Prime make it before his players
revolt on him? It is fun to hear him talking
fights now, but I really, guys don't see it lasting.
Speaker 3 (40:53):
I heard.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
I think you guys were getting into that last night, right,
a little bit.
Speaker 6 (40:56):
Into that, you know, because he said, Hey, if there's
a some of your teammates are fighting, we're all fighting
out there, all ninety nine of us better be out
there and have his back. And I can understand, you know,
part of that theory. But do you really want all
your players running off the bench, going on meeting people
at midfield and taking off helmets and throwing down punches
(41:17):
and stuff like that. I'm not so sure he thought
about that one out.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
Maybe it was more of like a raw raw thing,
because I don't think he really wants something like that.
I bet you if there's a fight, he's not.
Speaker 6 (41:26):
Yelling get out there, get out there, he's out doing that.
Speaker 5 (41:29):
