You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings and welcome inside. Today is a new day, The
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Just start singing the Boomblez song. Today is a new
day to new day.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
I have a new live. The only Boobleze song I
know is I just Haven't Met You yet, cause it's
on like in every store you go into.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
The live version with the Foo Fighters is pretty damn good.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
I think it's like the.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
Official, the official song of every store in the mall
that you would go in, like Sophora or Yankee Candle
or or you know something like.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
That, because I wander into Yankee kN.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Just haven met you. We're live at the Tirack dot
Com Studios Direct dot Com. I'll hope you get there.
An unmatched selection fast free shipping free, road hazard protection
over ten thousand recommended in stallers tirack dot com. The
way tire buying should be. So you had a better
day you did? You just celebrate that punt return repeatedly?
(01:24):
Do you know how many times I watch that? I
watch that Garrett Wilson touchdown too. I'm just so much
more impressed with that Wilson touchdown every time I see it,
just having the strong hand but the soft handed, just
deaden the ball and then tip it to himself. I mean,
he's a flipping super duper star, super duper duperstar. But
let me tell you this something I think you know
about me over the last ten years. The news today
(01:47):
that we thought was coming last night, Aaron Rodgers done
for the season with a torn achilles.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
Yeah, we already turned that page last week.
Speaker 1 (01:54):
It happened last night. And and for today, Robert Sala,
Jets head coach, you know, giving the somber news, had
to say, Okay, it happened. We're moving on and our
guy is Justin Herbert, who we've traded for the chart.
Our guy is Zach Wilson.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
We are going to look through some things, but I
do want to make it very clear to Zach's our quarterback.
We've got a lot of faiths in Zach. We're really
excited about his opportunity. But we're rolling with Zach and
I'm excited for this, excited for him and like I said,
this opportunity that he's going to get.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Oh no, we shuck again. Here's the thing for all
you guys. I have a pretty good well how do
I say this. I have a pretty good aptitude for
dealing with bad news and moving on and moving forward
rather quick.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Well with your sporting times, Yeah, well, because lifetime.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
I've had nothing but that. I've had nothing but bad
news with the Mets and the Jets. Yea, how do
we move forward? Let's move forward?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
So I'm a mystery team.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Team. So I'm past the injury. You know, I was
upset last night, but the Jets won and I'm looking ahead.
The season doesn't stop. No one stopped the old. The
old added you here all the time. No one feels
sorry for you, of course, but they want to beat
your brains in next season. The season, the season's not
gonna stop. It's going on. We won our game. We
look great in all aspects of the game, except for quarterback.
(03:22):
Obviously we lose Aaron Rodgers, but the offensive line played well.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
Look, they ran.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
Well, they fit well. Here here's the thing, you know
what you want to get into that those plays where
Aaron Rodgers got hit, those were supposed to be quick
hit plays and he held the ball.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
He should have got rid of the ball. Again, he
got hurt.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
He didn't throw the ball. He held onto the ball
too much. So don't sit here and say, oh the
offensive noo. Those were plays that were designed to be
quick hits and he held onto the ball. The offensive
line is still. They ran for one hundred and seventy
five yards last night on the Bills. I'm pretty sure
the offensive line one play though, but that was happen
though no nobody blocked for him. It's like the court
(04:06):
the win Dad, the seal that Vera Tucker put on
and and they put on on the outside with Beckton
and he was able to cut through. Yeah, when he
gets into the linebackers, he does the rest. But so hey,
just go by, just go by, just go by. So
just stop with that. I have a pretty good disposition
in moving forward because I was upset, but they won,
(04:27):
and what do I gotta do? I had a beer
and I took a shower, because that's how we do
it in the NBA. So I'm pasted it. I'm Jerry
and Jerry maguire. He finds out he's fired. He gets
a little woozy for like a few seconds, and then says, Okay,
I'm past it. I want all my clients back. Now.
That's where I am. Okay, Now I'm ready because we
won the game. We got a really good team. I'm excited.
(04:49):
We got young players that are coming back. Breese Hall
looks like he's one hundred percent, and that's awesome. He
could wind up being the best running back in the
NFL this year. Certainly, there's not any guys that look
better than him week one. So yeah, I'm pretty flipping
excited and I'm ready to go forward. It happens, it sucks, right,
But here's the best part is about being a Jets fan.
All but, Jason, you're not grieving. You're probably out of control. No, no, no,
(05:10):
Jets fans, you start with acceptance, all four of them.
You start at phase three. You don't go phase one
of denial, phase two of anger. No, you started phase three.
Speaker 3 (05:20):
Shrug because all right, we've been here.
Speaker 1 (05:22):
You're dealing with it your whole life, so you accept
I already I started phase three. I jumped past phase
one and phase two. No, no, we watched I started
phase three. I mean, you know you were last night.
You were uh Ralph Wigham in the Choose Me episode.
You can see his heartbreak but here, but I had him,
like I said, I had a few minutes and then
now I'm going forward, and then you lost your mind
(05:44):
and now.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
I'm going wish I had videotape in the hallways. I mean,
if we can get that security oh.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
That video of me when I called Gibson's punt return
for a touchdown. It's one of those things to retire for.
Speaker 3 (05:54):
Pretty the windows to shatter, because I'm sitting here in
a sound proof room and.
Speaker 1 (05:59):
I can hear it out for like twenty seconds. I
don't know what happened to my drink. I don't know
what I yelled. I know I was banging on the glass.
It was so flipping exciting. But so I'm past it.
And now you heard Robert Sala and yeah, Aaron Rodgers'
injury is still the biggest story. And sure they didn't sleep,
and you know it's It was kind of fun today
to kind of see the Wow Brady, Chad, Henny maybe
(06:22):
and and Philip Rivers and Hey, where can I get
all these greatest quarterbacks of the two thousands all in
one place for one low, low price? Well, you want
to come to Flora Park to watch the Jets because
they're gonna try out a lot of these guys coming in.
It's not woll Notes, it's the guys from from.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, nickel back through the two thousand?
Speaker 1 (06:47):
No, no, no, no, Can I get all these songs
in one Where can I get all these washed up
quarterbacks in one great place? But you know what's funny
is that Matt Ryan. You see all the names go
up on the screen. Matt You see the highlights behind him.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
It twenty eight to three comes drifting across.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
Maybe it's Matt Ryan. And then as a play by
play of Matt Ryan, the other guy says, ah, so
many great names that you've probably forgot about. You know
who's not in the league anymore, Carson Wentz. And Carson
Wentz his name lights up coming up the screen when
they would.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Do that, and then they say it's a picture of
his statue.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah, all fuck.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
But you go through all of that, right, and this
is my day. I got offline for a bit, went
for a nice walk, dog and I and we did,
you know, coffee on the porch, just listening to music
and just getting away from the world. And then I
finally get online a little bit later, right, eleanor my
older daughter comes downstairs and like, ah, let's have breakfast.
(07:41):
And it's like, as she's cooking and we're talking, I
go to scroll on X in my social media and
one after another ascribing day everybody in our business analyst
says the Jets should get Tom Brady. So I finally
had my George Carlin breaking point Tom Brady.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Tom Brady says, Tom half.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Tom Brady's great, you know what, blank Tom Brady. But
he's kind of skinny now to play quarterback in the NFL.
But it was the all right, captain obvious, let me
send you a hat so you could.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Just wear it as you make this take. He is
head and shoulders, even in his emaciated stage. Sure every
other quarterback that we're talking.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Would get you some bigger shoulder pads. You need to
look good out there, Tom.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
He kind of looked like he was wearing the little
shoulder pads when he was on the field the other day,
didn't he. But we go through the list of available
quarterbacks that you said, we're on that infomercial you were
watching late last.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Night, and every one of these names, but every one
of them taking them wow.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
To a team though. But you're going through and it's
like this guy Tom Brady, and I go front page
of Yahoo. They should get Tom Brady over on you know,
New York Boasts. They should get Tom Brady's Like, no
kidding people that don't know anything, Yes, make the nod,
say call Donye, okay, and then let's talk about the
(09:07):
real solutions that may be available to the Jets. Yes,
that's the pie in the sky if everything and candy
and rainbows and you can have a time turner and
make everything work. But the reality is you're picking from
a bunch of all serands. Most of them are in
a broadcast booth who are out of the league and
(09:27):
have been out of the league, or guys that are
the third quarterbacks that even their sorry teams don't want
because I saw the thought piece, looks they should trade
for Sam Donald, Like, yes, San Francisco is gonna give away,
Sam Donald, nobody're you know what I mean? Like we
talked about it last night in terms of backup quarterback,
(09:47):
like it was just an asinine exercise. I'm like, all right,
I get it. You have a column to do and
you have like fourteen writers and producers in a room,
and that's what the best they gave you.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Move on. I can't, and I'm being honest, I can't
tell you how many people, how many analysts what I've
watched today and saw today, how many people that have
played football that are on TV that pass themselves off
as analysts, are just stupid. Because everybody who's got this, Hey,
the Jets should go get your stupid And I don't
like to, but you're stupid because you're just looking for
(10:20):
an angle that doesn't make any sense. As you said,
these guys are all unemployed for a reason, whether they're
at the end of their career and they retired or
they're let go and no team has signed them because
they stink. If you think the Jets would better off
signing one of these guys, I'm sorry, you're stupid. If
you think sticking with Zach Wilson's a mistake, I'm sorry
you're stupid, right. I'm not a big Zach Wilson fan.
(10:43):
You know what I said about But I've never said
anything bad about him on the radio though. No, I'm
not as Zach Bay but I'm not a Zach Wilson fan.
But this is somebody who now has been in the
system knows the offense is gonna have Aaron Rodgers over
his shoulder helping him. You're telling me, Matt Ryan coming in.
These guys all stunk, they stunk. The Jets only way
forward is Zach Wilson. Yes, they're gonna sign one of
(11:05):
these guys to need a backup, because you can't sit
here and say, well, Tim Boyle, who they just got,
is gonna sit around and he's gonna be your No,
they're gonna go get somebody because they have to get
a body to come in and learn and be a
veteran backup. But to say that somebody else, somebody else
who don't give me sticking with Zach Wilson, say give
me a name, give me a name that you're gonna
go out there and say that's a guy. That's a guy,
that's a guy that's gonna be No, you're stupid you're
(11:27):
stupid because you're either just want to pile on Jets,
wile pile on Zach Wilson, who, oh, by the way,
had some pretty nice throws last night. The interception was bad,
all right, I'm not gonna say it's not. But they
won the game. He let him down to the points
when they needed it, and they won. And he came
in with no reps on to the fourth play of
the game, when you know that the stadium is ready
to flip and just explode. Look at this, all six
(11:50):
months of Rogers Rogers. Rather it just went out the window.
And you know what, it would have been easy for
the Jets to turtle and lose that game, easy for
Zack Wilson to just suck you know what. They and
he didn't play half bet Was he great? No? Was
he the reason why they won?
Speaker 5 (12:04):
No?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
But to come in and not lose the game and win,
that's a w right. He's the guy that's been in
the offense. He's the guy that they've they've invested it.
He's the guy. If you're gonna win, he's gonna be
the quarterback. If you say somebody else, it's great to
just say, oh, the Jets are done. No, No, let's
advance things right, let's advancings a little bit.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Who do they get?
Speaker 1 (12:21):
No, the answer is right there. That's the only answer,
is Zach Wilson. Do I love the answer? No, but
it's the best answer. Then then case Keenum or Matt
Ryan or Philip Rivers who's been coaching high school football.
That's a couple of year. It's a bet there's no
answers there. Tom Brady's not coming back to play for
the Jets. I'd love to see it. I love the
photoshop that Frauford sent me with him in the twelve
jurf That's that's not happening.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Here's your eighteen second analysis of Tom Brady, and that's
all it deserves. Right, the resiny you know called Tom Brady,
and you can do this and this would solve this.
And you know he runs a different offense than Aaron Rodgers,
so you would have to retro fit this. And they're
not his guy, like, shut up, shut up, men, toll Well,
(13:02):
I don't know, it's too early in the night to
use the term. I think that I want to there,
So it's just a waste of time. And all of
these other guys Yeah, they're warm bodies in the event
that Zach Wilson is absolutely atrocious and it's an untenable situation.
But if you can run and play out like you
did last night. Look, Josh Allen's not going to be
there every week to serve up a couple of turnovers
(13:23):
for you. Hot warm four four four, Not a couple,
it's a four. It's like buying a couple is two four.
Hoogie beer comes in a four pack, but.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
A couple is two four four, twice as many. It's
twice as many, twice as many. Solving problems you way,
do you see how many turnovers Dak Prescott has next week? Yeah,
but Jordan White had already made like a three hundred
million dollars three fifty dollars. Good for him here three percent.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
He said that to the girls when they talked about
They asked me about the game. It's like, what was
the highlight? I go, guy earned himself an extra quarter
million dollars. Zach tame.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
It's Zach attack. That's it, back attack, going forward. I'm
past it. We're going to the playoffs. It's all there,
it's all happening. Zach attack.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
All right, you went a little further than I thought.
Speaker 5 (14:06):
You.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Oh, we're going to the playoffs. I take still still
got a great team, but we have time for that.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
I'm sorry, tysher. Do you think this is air Supply?
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Okay, all right, making sure. I remember when air Supply
did rock Sand's big hit, huge, big hit.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
You know she was making love out of nothing at all.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that was in the nineteen
hundredth Right, that was that was that was the do
Doodoo Do Do Do Do? That was that song. Yeah.

(14:52):
I love how Ernest tyshirt is. When he said, yeah,
I love how Ernesty is. Noah, he's tired up, he's
jacked up about it. Air Supply, Yeah, sure to?
Speaker 3 (15:00):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Sure? Be all out of love? He said, Ernest, Ernest
going to jail or no camp.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
I don't think he's going anywhere anymore. Wow, why do
you gonna?
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Why do you gotta be so just killed him all.
He was very young when he passed away, Jim Varney,
and now you got to bring up Yeah, he was
like fifty three or something. Really, he was a good
road man. You go to jail, that's a good road. No, well,
first he went he got to do it. First he
went to camp. Then he went to jail, right.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
And then he had a Christmas movie too, didn't he?
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Then it was but no, I think Christmas was in jail. Yeah,
it was like the Christmas Chronicles. He got a great run.
He did that song, and he did in fifty I
think fifty three is not a great run any movie.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
He saved Christmas. He went to school, He got to school.
He was in the Beverly Hillbillies, right. And the thing
is he filmed all those movies over the span of
eight months.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
He was in jail.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
Here's one I wonder how plays in nineteen ninety From
nineteen ninety seven, Ernest goes to Africa.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Oh yeah, Oh I didn't see that one.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
No, I didn't, I didn't even I didn't do it.
Just really Yeah, Ernest rides again. Ernie, he joined the army.
He was I didn't I run? He was in Toy
Story two, well the Lost Empire. But I mean prolific
any earnest movies, I proty just like the three or
(16:22):
four of them. Boy, they really ran and they ran
one out like every year, like a decade. I mean,
he's did more movies than Hell of a Run.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Wow. Uh. Now, before we get to now the quarterback,
we're gonna end up talking about with Aaron Rodgers being out.
Let me just say now, to reflect on all these
fun little things going on in the internet. All, let's
take a look at Aaron Rodgers highlight reel from twenty
twenty three, and it's him running out with the flag
and him running for his life on those couple of plays,
and then you know, sitting on the ground. Yeah, no, no, no,
let's be let's be real, let's be fair. The biggest
(16:52):
thing Aaron Rodgers the highlight what he did in twenty
twenty three, The man single handedly solved a huge cable
tellvision disputed because Disney's not coming to terms with Spectrum
for ESPN and everything else unless the Jets and Aaron
Rodgers are playing on Monday night football. It's the highest
rated Monday night game ESPN has ever had. Think about that,
(17:16):
the highest rated football game Monday night FOOTBA ESPN ever had.
And if you had the injury, you had a close game,
you had what was next, you didn't know how bad
the injury was. You had everything you needed to in
the drama. And his last gift of twenty twenty three
was I solved the cable dispute because if the Jets
are playing that game and it's Zach Wilson coming in
(17:38):
and playing that game, that you know what. Yeah, hey,
people in Spectrum still don't have ESPN. They don't have
facts where I STI don't have facts though, but they were,
they were stored ESPN. They we don't have it. His
the man single handedly solved a cable dispute over hundreds
of millions of dollars, single handedly. Aaron Rodgers did it well.
I mean they should pull it right back out now.
Oh yeah, hey, we're people don't need ESPN anymore. Let's
(18:00):
let's pull that. Let's pull that. Disney doesn't pull out, Mike,
let let let let let's pull that.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
They do fight.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Let's pull that now. Yeah, that's right, because Colorado is
the official big Nude kickoff team for Fox Sports. You
say new the Big Nude, the Big Nude Kickoff. I
like that from Pete Futech, The Big Nude Kickoff. Yeah,
I mean it's a big nude kickoff. We have like
part ownership now the Colorado I think Colorado is the
official big Nude kickoff.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Team several weeks in a row.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Now every game they're gonna play it. Now.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
I think we've got a Jets and Shark situation this
week and that other place coming coming into Oh.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Well the game you're gonna be banished on the other
side of campus.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
They're so interesting to see where they get to do
the show from.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
They said Van Pelt, so we can fight out.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
They're gonna be so congratulations. The big highlight Aaron Rodgers
single handedly ended a cable dispute.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Yes he did, right, because we have to do we
have to acknowledge that because that happened yesterday and it
was a little bit of celebration. Then as soon as
the kickoff came and four plays later the injury and
that's it, Like it just pushed to the wayside. And
now it's like, all right, next orders of business, of fights,
more lawsuits and everything else between conferences and their remaining
(19:09):
standout members. But yeah, it's said chaos. But Aaron Rodgers
helcause we are the world moment and none.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Of us have to pay any more money. That's the
whole thing. It's not like, oh hey yeah we're putting
it back on again. No, none of us have to
pay it.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
I didn't have that.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
What are you talking about? The price went up three
dollars a month if you buy, if you get the
next level of the ESPN No, no, no, Kisney Plus has
went from ten to thirteen. You're getting charge three dollars
more more for Disney. Yeah no, no, no, no, that's just XPN. No no,
But it's like anything else. You're gonna go find the
dollars elsewhere.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Now, it's still whatever it is in your carriage, right,
what is it like seven sixty two or eight bucks
or whatever it is? But yeah, so you might not
feel it just yet, but no, they'll get you.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
It's true.
Speaker 3 (19:51):
Hey, you know it becomes a surcharge, right, It's like
when you go to a restaurant. Now it's the how
am I paying my for the employees benefits. Oh, there's
just a random search. Arge, Like what am I paying
for here? Like the air you breathed?
Speaker 5 (20:06):
Jason's fee didn't go up because he steals JJ Abrams' WiFi?
Speaker 1 (20:09):
You just you what am i? Tom Selleck? Now I'm
stealing stuff from my neighbors?
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Come on, I wish you had a mustache like Tom.
He'll find you.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
If I could take a pill and never have to
shave again, I would do it. If they say, hey,
this pill, what are the side effects? Side effects include death,
dismember me, unable to breathe, your head falling off.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Would you would you be a long haired hippie if
you let it grow?
Speaker 1 (20:29):
You have to have hair? No, no, no, no no.
My hair I really wanted it to go really grow
really long in the back, but it would just grow
because I had a big afro when I was a kid,
and my hair would just grow out and that was
all things.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Your secret.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
It's a lot growing out. Yeah, like my bag. Like
if you had a baseball card for me when I
was a kid, it would be like what Gary Maddox
right had the big great.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
As the oscarmble.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Oh yeah, my afro was I loved it. It was
so great, but it was a seventies. It was a seventies.
That was the time. Uh No, that's how my hair
would grow. That's what my hair would grow, So I
would of it. I always wanted to have long hair,
and I'm a long hair guy. I'm the bad boy.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Yeah coming back here.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
Uh at some point, at some point, there will be
instant hair and then maybe maybe I fall down that
pit again, but maybe I don't. Maybe I do it
to celebrate the Jets winning the Super Bowl. Maybe I'll
do it there it.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Happens, but like a hockey beard, so that's never happening.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Yeah, we're going to the playoffs this year. Well I
will wait. We'll have more on that. I'll be waiting
years with Rogers out though the conversation. Look, we told
you before the season, there's three players that are going
to gain the lion's share of the conversation every single week.
And number one on that list, there's three players always
are going to get more. That's where all the conversation
(21:40):
is always going to go. Number one on the list
was Aaron Rodgers. The guy was the story in the NFL.
And that's and and look, and that's what sucks not
for just me jet fan, because it does suck for me,
but it sucks for everybody because this was the biggest story.
It was a huge soap operar. What does Jay Lazer
already saying? The NFL is the greatest reality show ever invented,
and it's it's full of twists and turn and loop
de loops and all kinds of crazy ass stuff. And
(22:03):
that's what the NFL is. And we lost the number
one attraction. It's like going going to the circus and
I oh, I can't wait for to go on Lightning Loops.
That's the best ride ever. Well, we still have a
lot of great stuff, but Lightning Loops is closed. It's like,
oh man, but yeah, has a lot of the cool stuff,
but I really like Lightning Loops. No, sorry, Lightning Loops
is close.
Speaker 3 (22:20):
Wait is that the one that sets up in the
mall parking lot? Now you're going to No?
Speaker 1 (22:24):
I mean like you want to You sure that's on
the ground. Yeah, yeah, just get on, get on go.
You're all good. But the number two guy, now who's
going to gain all of that attention is Dak Prescott.
And if you think for a second, he has dodged
anything or anything has changed even after the Cowboys blowout,
You are sorely mistaken. Do you believe me now about
(22:48):
the pressure on Dak Prescott this year? Because what did
you see coming off the Cowboys dominance of the Giants? Right,
a forty zhering game where the defense played incredibly well,
the offense moved the football, special teams was great, everything
was great. But what did you see from the media,
from fans, what did you see from critics? Hey, well,
(23:09):
they're lucky. Dak didn't have to do anything in this game, right,
Dak didn't have to do anything. The defense is gonna
have to carry Dak Prescott? Can the defense carry Dak Prescott?
Is there an offense versus defense intra team battle? The
Cowboys win forty to nothing, and it was well, all right,
Dak didn't have to do anything because the defense didit.
This week? What about a forty nothing win where the
(23:30):
Cowboys supposedly announce themselves a Super Bowl contender, and still
the reaction is, hey, Dak Prescott's got to come through, right,
this is the pressure he is under.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
It.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
You would think a forty to nothing game on the
road against a divisional rival to open up the season. Hey,
that's gonna buy a little bit. Nope, it's still the
I don't want the anticipatory hatred or the desire to
hate Dak, or the desire to come down on Dak
from the media, from the fans, from other players around
the league because they're jealous of the attention that he gets.
Because he does get too much. Attention is immense. It's
(24:00):
only growing with as well as the Cowboys play. This
has now become what Jerry Jones said, this is not
This is a super Bowl or bus season now for
the Dallas Cowboys and the pressure on Dak. It's a
failure if he doesn't get there, and if they don't
get there, guess who's gonna get the blame. He will
forty to nothing. Hey, well, well, Dak didn't do anything.
We'll see what he does this week. Dak could throw
for three hundred and seventy five yards and four touchdowns
(24:22):
in the Super Bowl and the Cowboys can lose thirty
eight thirty seven. It's gonna be how come Dak didn't
get that field goal before halftime? How come Dak through
that one pick in the third quarter. He's someone that
can't please anyone, And unless the Cowboys win the Super Bowl,
it's gonna be a failed year for Dak Prescott. You
can see it. You can see the mountainous effort just massing.
(24:43):
It's like this big snowball going downhill of Dak Prescott, Hayton.
Whatever he's doing is not enough, and it just gets
bigger and bigger and bigger. And you would, again, you
would think, coming off this win, hey man, we feel
great about ourselves. Nope, it's Dak better not let the
defense down. Dak. I don't think that Dak Prescott really
knows the pressure he is under this year. The Cowboys
(25:03):
put him under a lot because of the failure against
the forty nine Ers. We've documented that things change with
their perception of him after that forty nine Ers game.
But now you would think, Okay, they got it going. Nope,
it's even more now because now the stakes for the
Cowboys are higher. It's no longer hey, let's win the division,
Let's get in the playoffs, Let's win a couple of games,
maybe make it to the NFC Championship. In now it's oh,
(25:23):
we're a super Bowl team. We're the best team in
the NFC. Nobody looked better than us the first week
of the season. We're a super Bowl team. This is
all really rough news for Dak because it's going to
get just more difficult as the season goes on for him.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Well, the thing is, coming into the year, you had
three teams in the NFC that were anointed, you know,
the holy Triumvirate rising above all others. Forty nine ers
next round Brock perty year guy and all of those
players led by McCaffrey who had himself a great game.
And if the wide receivers continue to block like they
did downfield, they're gonna be a handful and then some
(25:59):
and great help to extend plays.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Right.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
But when we look at the Eagles, the perfect roster, right,
that's what it's been crowned. New coordinator struggle a bit
after getting out and getting some gifts early from the Patriots,
but we all presume they're gonna be there, the third
team in the NFC, and most folks, I guess, you know,
as we go through adding our Super Bowl picks or
(26:24):
just kind of looking at rosters as assembled, like, all right,
the Cowboys are there, so there's no free pass. In
the past, it was all right, maybe they make the playoffs.
Fighting out of the East, someone's got to win. There's
a new division winner every year. Right, That's been the
trend in the NFC East, all of those things. But
with that defense as assembled, with what we've seen from
(26:46):
Tony Pollard, if he's healthy, you've got at least a
number one in the backfield. I still think they probably
need to add another body back there, but that's a
whole other thing. Wide receiving court pretty solid, and Dak
cut down the turnovers in this case, what did he do?
Thirteen to twenty four, one hundred and forty three yards.
You know what the key stat is for me with
the Dak Prescott, it's a zero. Right, people got all
(27:07):
chesty out of this. Josh Allen's like, oh, there's the stat.
Look at Dak's not even on this graphic, Like, you
know what, there's expectations on the Cowboys. The bills are
the bills. I'm sorry, Like, folks still look at it
the same way. Right, the magnifying glass from a national perspective,
from a global perspective, is on that brand, and unfortunately
(27:30):
Heavy is the head who wears the crown. Right, that's
as far as it goes. So Yes, it's on him
to go and win and put up big numbers. And
that's what people are anticipating for you and for me
and for rational calm people. Yes, winning is everything. No,
how you do it, I don't give a damn.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Now, the other part of it is this, right, think
about that. That's going to be the pressure for Dak
from his team going forward to me. But just think
about how the knives would already have been out for
Aaron Rodgers, right, everybody's but now Rodgers is out, Okay,
Watch how much more the knives come out for Dak Prescott.
Watch everybody turn heel on Dak Prescott on television because
(28:13):
the Cowboys are good. Now, the Cowboys could be the
number one story in the league. Maybe they are a
super Bowl team. You watch how everybody turns heel, and
it's a it's just a feeding frenzy on Dak Prescott
not doing enough. You watch out all the shows, everybody
they're gonna turn and it's gonna be Dak didn't do this,
Dak didn't do this. Dak's not good enough. Dak's gonna
(28:33):
cost him. Dak, It's gonna get and it's gonna get
so overwhelmingly irrational with Dak Prescott. So you're gonna see
the pressure for the team. There's that, and then you
watch TV this story, you see what that reaction is
for Dak Prescott. I hope they all actually watch the
games you watch watch.

Aaron Rodgers' injury, clearly the last twenty four thirty six hours,
everybody's starting to come up for air now with some topics.
It's the air like air supply, like to see what
I did there? I did there. But in continued breakdown
(29:37):
of what we saw Sunday going into week two of
the NFL, you know me. I hate to say, I
told you so, right, I just don't like it. It's
very difficult for me. I feel weird.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
I feel it's been a week or two since you
really went down that. No, actually no, you did that
last Thursday into Friday when you declared yourself mayor of Detroit.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I told you about all the infrastructure issues, the plumbing issues,
the unrest about housing, and of course the rat problem.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
You seemed undeterred.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Yeah, no, I was, okay, I can. I'm still trying
to solve the rat problem. But being the mayor picking
the Lions to beat the Chiefs and them to go
to the super Bowl, I have a little bit of time.
I have a little bit of cashe a little bit
cache before they really start getting.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
Trying to run with that as long as you can.
But free Muskrat.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
The one thing we said that we said, just watch,
just wait all the criticism for him, because oh, he
doesn't look as great in the preseason I don't know
if he's gonna take over for a legend. And what
did we see on Sunday? We talked about how big
this game was gonna be and how many points are
(30:42):
gonna be on the board, and what a game for
Jordan Love. We told you he was gonna be fine
because the Packers were building this post Aaron Rodgers team
a little bit differently. They weren't gonna throw the football
forty times a game. That's not how they're built. And
anybody that thought, oh, you can't step in, they're going
to do it differently. This is the offense they have
(31:02):
wanted for a couple of years. We want to have
a couple of running backs and carry the football. A
Ton wanted be able to throw the ball and we
have to. He can make plays with his legs. We
have depth at wide receiver and this is how we
want to win. This is how the Packers want to win.
Jordan Love on Sunday was fifteen out of twenty seven
for two forty five and three touchdowns. Passer rating was
over one twenty. He had a great game. Watching him,
(31:24):
he looked confident, he knew where he wanted to go
with the football. It didn't matter. Well, I mean, they
were playing the Bears and the Bears defense is not
very well. But what did I tell you he was
on the sketch?
Speaker 3 (31:32):
What did I tell you on Friday.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Yeah, I warned you, but I said, listen, if anybody
the Bears let me down to this game, because I
thought you would have more points. I said, there'd be
the most points in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
As I think I analyzed this game about as well
as you could.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Man, I was close.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
And no, Christian Watson, that's the other party. No, no,
And they didn't use Aaron Jones a time like, there's
a lot still to build on from what they did
to the Bears in this game.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Yeah, you're looking at You're looking at a bunch of
of of targets. You know, everybody caught a couple of passes.
There was nobody that had more than five. Love was
able to spread it around. They were very efficient moving
the football. He looked good. He looked like, Okay, it's
taken him three years, he should be pretty good with
this offense. The Packers knew what they were doing. They
knew what they were doing when they said this is
(32:17):
the direction we want to go on now. Is every
weeked to be like this? No, we're talking about on
the road with a new thing. You still want It
comes down to it before you kick off. You don't
know how good Jordan Love is really going to be
But this is what they expected. This is what I expected.
He's going to be fun. Is he gonna win the
passing title? No? Is he going to keep the Packers
in the playoff fund and play pretty well? Yeah, they're
win the division. They're not going to ask him to
(32:37):
do what they asked Aaron Rodgers to do, which was, hey,
throw us through into to victory every single week. We're
not going to throw the ball forty five times. They
threw the ball twenty seven times. That's about probably what
they want sometime between twenty five and thirty passing attempts.
They want to run the football more than that. Now
Aaron Jones' injury could affect that a little bit. It's
not that aj Dillon was great when he ran the
(32:58):
ball last week, but this is how they want to
do it. We told you he was going to be
good because the Packers were doing things differently, and to
compare him to Aaron Rodgers is not the right way
to go. But to compare what he's doing production wise
and then winning games, that's what you look at. Thirty
eight points week one, the week he had, Yeah, Jordan
Love is good. Well, you get Joe Berry's defense to
(33:18):
give you some turnovers, give you some pressure, and terrorize
the opponent. And look again, it's the Bears. But you
play the division rival, you play the long historic matchup,
and you go and you beat them down. Now I'm
mad at myself is that.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
You know, I had that bottle of champagne that I
couldn't crack until Aaron Rodgers took a snap for the
Jets and Jordan Love was actually under center. I mean,
because it was a celebration of a passing of the
torch and maybe the division opening up. That's not opening
back up. That bottle may never leave me now three
decades and now we're into the Jordan Love. So it
(33:56):
continues on. Yeah, the Jones injury, we'll keep an eye
on that, Dylan, it'll be fine. And you've got Patrick
Taylor as well. And let's not forget you do have
a lot of running backs in the marketplace that are
out there. And now you're past week one. So the
way contracts work and guarantees or whatever, it's a whole
other ballgame. So if there is more concern, then, yeah,
(34:18):
there's plenty of veteran bodies to get out there. But
you get Watson back, you got Musgrave. Yeah, this team
can still roll.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Told you there was going to be fine. It's fine.
Everything is fine. Exit out about a Fresca swollen dome.
Jason Smith, Mike Carmon Coming up next, we get back
into the biggest NFL story of the day. Keep it
right here. This is fuckx
