Let's give this part you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Greetings and welcome inside final hour tonight to The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, live from
the ti rack dot Com studios tyrack dot com. We'll
help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free roadhazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers tirack
dot com. The way tire buying should be. Well, another

(00:51):
way that I'm going to continue to make a lot
of money. The Jason Smith Off Season School for Coaches.
What did I called the Time Management My time management
seminar that I have every off season. Well, I think
you've co opted to TV. Y Okay, this one a
little too serious though. You're very upset. Just think you

(01:13):
just don't know what dude, He's an NFL and other
people on the sideline should tell them, wait, what are
we doing here? I mean really, I mean they went
for the first down, they went to the silence. Normally here,
normally you're right this one. You're underestimating who the hell
you're dealing with. Man and the stakes. I've told you
for a long time, I can make a lot of
money every off season. I have clock management and I

(01:37):
and it's it's a whole big thing. I have it out.
I'll rent a hall, I will rent fields, and it'll
be like Top Gun and all the coaches that struggle
with time management in the final two minutes of the game,
you come out. We do chalkboard stuff in the classroom,
and then just like in Top Gun where they fly
real lessons, we we go. We put it on the
field in real time situations, so you can understand what

(01:58):
clock management is all about, and what you're dealing with,
and how many head coaches what I have. If I
charge fifteen to twenty grand to pop, I get everybody. Now,
I get Matt Eberflus because he might need it more
than anybody else. And now there will be golf as well,
because I know they don't want to come and just
do stuff all time. So it'd be like a three
day thing. There would be there would be lessons in
the classroom, then there would be lessons on the field,

(02:22):
s'mores at night, and maybe a day of golf. We
would have that. Okay, yeah, but my time management off
season course twenty grand a coach. Maddie flips the next guy. Yeah,
I just think he's the next guy seeing you way
more than a cho It is because he's an NFL
head coach and he clearly didn't know the situation or
wanted to lie about it and say, ah, here's why.

(02:44):
But no, I'm sorry, I'm going to call you out
on it, or he misspoke. We want to take this back.
I don't know that he misspoke. You're a pretty good
explanation trying to help the guy. So here's the deal, right,
here's the deal. I mean, NFL head coach, think about this.
I don't know who else is going to talk about this.
So we're team dare you. The Bears have the ball
and they're up by a field goal with a minute

(03:05):
twenty six left to go. They're just just run too right,
they just run two plays. They're just inside of midfield.
The Panthers call their last time out with a minute
twenty six left to go, right, so no timeouts left
for the Panthers, no timeouts left. What you should do
in that situation is you run the football. Because you

(03:25):
run the football a minute twenty six and I went
and I watched the play that they actually ran, and
the forty second clock started about a buck eighteen. So
let's say that's the case, so you run the ball.
Let's say you don't get the first down. Well, forty
second play clock would start with about a minute eighteen left.
Bears would take that all the way down to the end,
call timeout, and then they would punt the ball away.

(03:47):
They would probably pin the Panthers deep, if not in
the end zone. By the time that happened, you're talking
about a buck eighteen forty second play clock. They punt
the ball away, the Panthers would have gotten the ball
back deep in their own territory with less than thirty
five seconds left to go in the game. Right, less

(04:07):
than thirty five seconds left to go on the game.
So what's the right strategy run the football in a
game where defense is obviously the king. Uh punt the
ball away and don't give the don't give the Panthers
a chance to win the game, right, you punt the
ball away, You give it to them on their own
twenty yard line, worst case scenario, with thirty three seconds
left to go, in no timeouts. Are you really getting

(04:28):
down the field. Of course not, you're winning the game.
But what the Bears it instead was they threw the
football on third down, which is what could cost you
to lose the game. It's third and long for the BA.
This is what pissed me off about it is the
strategy actually turned out. They throw the ball with a
backup quarterback and not even to their best receiver, not
even a dj more. They throw a Darnel Mooney who

(04:49):
almost was off the team two weeks ago, and they
throw it into double don't make it sound like they
were off the time. Almost No, no, no, they almost traded him.
They almost trade. Don't be dishonest here. They got plenty
of folks in this business. Almost traded. They almost traded them.
They throw to him, he catches the ball for the

(05:09):
first down, Bears go on and kill the clock. Good throw,
good right the play I'm not saying no, the play
was executed well, but that's the play you call when
you can punk the ball, play defense for thirty seconds
and win the game. That's what every coach would do.
Nobody's gonna throw the football in that situation because the

(05:29):
only two things gonna happen. Three things happen when you
throw the football, and two of them are bad. So
if you throw in complete, now you're putting the ball
back to the Panthers, and the Panthers will have probably
about a buck fifteen left and no timeouts, which is
enough time to get down the field and kick a
field goal. So in that scenario, if you throw the
football and you throw an incomplete pass, you're giving the

(05:50):
ball back that they have about a minute fifteen, right,
So the right strategy is to run the football and
punt it down there. Now, it worked out for them.
Here's Matt Eberflus following the game because he was asked
why they threw the football on that third downplay? Right,
here's the question, and then you can hear Matt Eberflus
respond to why they threw the football on that third

(06:11):
downplay to throw out of the area. Yeah, what was
the discussion like? And a couple of players are there.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
They said, no, I mean, there's really a decision there.
You have, right, you know, so if you decided to run,
you know, at that time, then you've got a punt
and pin and they would have they would have had
minute ten with no timeouts, you know, and hopefully on
that ten yard line if we if we punt it right,
you know, So that was the idea there. We liked
the play call, you know, we like the play call.

(06:41):
We discussed it and we went for it, and we
thought that extreeted well moving made a beautiful catch and
you know he's one yard, passed the stick and sealed
the game. So really good play call by Luke, excellent
execution by the old line of the entire offense and
Moody on the catch and Beijor on the throw.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Dude, dude, what do you mean they would have had
a buck ten left, They would have had less than
I'm two thousand bleeping miles away sitting next to you,
and I knew they're gonna have the bull. They're gonna
punt the ball here, and he says, no, they would
have had it with a buck ten. In what world
if you call the time out and punted and give
it back, No, No, in what world. In what world

(07:20):
he didn't know the situation and his coaches didn't know
the situation. That's what went on here. He didn't know,
they didn't know, or he overruled them saying, I still
want to throw the football. Whatever it was not only
was it a bad decision that just happened to work out.
Somebody didn't know the situation, and it was still that.
That's the way. At the end of the game, they thought,
for some reason, we're gonna give the ball back to
you with a minute ten left. Instead of we run

(07:41):
the football no timeouts, we punned it away less than
thirty five seconds. I really, really, dude, I'm charging him
forty grand to come to him. He needs it more,
He needs it more than anybody else. Goes back to
the Mike Harmon school of let me debrief you on
the questions that are about to come your way, and
here's your h or you want to give. We wanted

(08:02):
to put the ball in Tyson's hands, and we liked
the play call because we wanted the first down and
we wanted to stick the dagger in on this game,
and they executed it perfectly. Boom. You don't have to
touch anything about I don't know what's up yours. Yeah,

(08:24):
the last forty eight hours. It's the chuckle hut one
unintended today. Oh he was jesty.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
I just love the fact that Jason shocked that Matt
Eberles has no idea what.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
He's talking about.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
You.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
It's still the NFL, and there's I mean, all right, hey,
Thursday night, you stop just because your team's actually won
a couple of games, all of a sudden, you're all
chesty over there. Well know where my team's out on Sunday? Okay,
how does it Nobody Mike Singletary is there. How does
Mike Slitary not say, hey, coach, I'm I might not

(09:00):
want to do this. Can't win with him? Can't do it?
Would do his evaluation of Matt eberforefs coach, you can't
win with him? I I really it's I mean this,
I mean this is the NFL. And he comes to
the press conference saying, yah, they we had it with
a buck ten left. No, you can't just do that.
You can't just say stuff and say, ah, what are
people gonna care about? It's late at night and no, no,

(09:21):
I'm telling you, man, we're saying it now. And I
guarantee you it's gonna be talked about a lot tomorrow. Yeah,
but here's the thing. Right on the third down play,
who's to say that, you know, whether it's Roshawn Johnson
or or Deontay Foreman, they don't pick up the run
and the first time, I like the boldness of the
play call. Man. I liked a bold play call, and
it worked. All of those things he is saying is correct,

(09:43):
all those same Yeah, it was a time call, the
time in circumstance surrounding the timeouts. Obviously it's dopey, and
I actually commented it live in terms of the telecast
as to how the graphics are. Until the first bars disappears,
you just think it's you know, all right, there's a
cool outline that they into the graphics over the team
nams and everything, and then hey, one of those going

(10:05):
away like a power part of video game. Okay, cold,
they're down, and then the last one gets called at
one twenty six.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Jason, this is the same guy that didn't know if
his quarterback was dealt for or out. Man.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
But there's the thing is there's other people that could
help you. He doesn't know what happened Williams. Wait, Jesus
or the Jesus, the Jesus. Okay, this is I I
It just it baffles me that he that he's able
to come to the press conference and say it, like, yeah,
we debated it, we debated it. They've fired two guys.

(10:36):
But if they've debated guys from his staff, they've had
to remove from Nobody made the decision to bring them in.
Nobody in the debate, says coach. You know it's not
a minute ten right, if we run the ball, it's
like thirty five seconds. And man, they're acting in that moment.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Do you know that?

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Right? There's a lot going on. Don't we have a
clock coach? Don't we have a clock coach?

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Right?

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Don't we have so much of that? He's a hero
right now in Chicago. You want to know why?

Speaker 4 (11:03):
Why is that they now have a forty three chance
at the number one pick after tonight's man.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Of course, Tyson Maajen. Here's the stat that's going around though,
like he's one third of the wings toward towards Justin
Field's total. Now a well, well, now the biggest well
and yeah, now instead of picking first and second because
they like now they could pick first and fifth. Well,
that's the saying you don't know what's happening. You know,
Arizona's bringing back Kyler Murray. You got the giants that

(11:31):
are flailing, you got the Patriots and whatever that is.
We export that to Germany this week. Yeah, there's a
lot of chaos at the top of the heat. But yeah,
the fact that you are really shocked at Eberflus, not
knowing down distance, timeout scenarios, and the clock, it baffles me.
I mean, you've been what you've listened to me rant

(11:52):
on this fortitude, but this is But we're in a
studio two thousand miles away in sweat pants and T
shirts eating Burritosa burritos. I wish they you know, they
charged your extra cheese. I got no cheese in my burrito.
I mean, come on, man, I think we all got
punished extra cheese put cheese in. I want more than
extra regular cheese. I did not only get extra cheese,

(12:13):
I didn't get regular chill. But that's the problem though.
Maybe that's why I'm salty so much about eber Flues. Well,
because you didn't get the salt of the extra cheese.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (12:20):
We're two thousand miles away and I can see it
and say why would they do this? And then to
get the explanation, Yeah, you're in the fire in the moment, right,
That's why you talk to other coaches. That's why other
coaches say things. Why most teams have a clock coach
even though it's not that big a deal to figure
out the clock. But nobody, nobody knew, not one person
on the sideline and said, hey, mister eber Flues, I

(12:43):
like checked and if you run the football, they'll get
it back with less than thirty five seconds left. Well,
I went back on, you know, because we were live
on air watching it as it transpired. The boldness of
that third and seven throw into double seven, it's gonna
shut up and Darnell Mooney coming down with the ball,
taking care of business and getting that first down. On

(13:04):
the broadcast, they were so done they made no mention
of why did they throw on thy seven with it? No,
Kirk Kersey just said, wow, and now they're gonna win
the game. That's exactly what they said. It's like, that's
it all right, that seals it for the Bears. But
no talk of wow they threw on that. Wow, that
was that was crazy. Wore a clock management like you

(13:25):
would normally do. It's like, all right, take away this.
The Panthers should get the ball back dot dot dot.
Now that was out the window. My NFL off season
clock management seminar forty grand for Ueberflus, twenty grand for
everybody else. Forty grand because you really need it more
than everybody else does.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Man.

Speaker 1 (13:44):

What song is just Timberlake? Well, I know it's Jay
Dad to know the song? Oh, I don't know the Oh, okay,
I don't know the suit and time. There you go,
suit and tie. Okay, alright, very good, Okay, I mean
I know the lyrics.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
I didn't know that.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
And then we get to the course. It is something
Jason never wears for a thousand Alex, I can't tell
you the less our worst SUI probably a wedding, I know,
thank you? Alright, ready for this? I am officiating a
wedding next spring. Wait? Wait, wait, I am assiciating a wedding.
Hell is letting you do that? Two of our best

(16:25):
friends of that Pam and I friends our whole lives.
Their son is getting married and I'm officiating the wedding.
This could be like a like a like a side
hustle for me. They lose a bet to you, or
they want me to do We have to learn how
to speak kling on or something. He said, No, we
want you to be you and and we want you
to do it. I said, wow, Jacob wants you to
be you. I go to be Jason Mason, be Jason Smith.

(16:48):
You had on hats after the ceremony. Are we are
we getting married? Why is he talking about the Jets
and Zach Wilson. I'm done with the Zach Wilson stuff.
And you know it was like in week three when
Zach Wilson had to walk through fire after the injuries
to stained. I don't know what I can take more serious?

(17:08):
Jason his best conference? Wait, what about Franke Reich and
the debate of the weather to uh blank him kick
a field goal or go for it on fourth for ten? Hey,
you know we had a better percentage hitting that fifty
nine yard field goal. Actually, what do you want me
to wear? Can I wear sweatpants and the T shirt?

(17:29):
And you went, I'm kidding, I'm kidding, of course, Jake Dorton,
maybe I'd like to They want you to be you.
Maybe you could be his ensconstin velvet. You can get
one of those sweatsuits like the Stanza.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Nothing says Jason Smith, like raggedy old uh sweats and.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
This is beautiful? What is this velvet? You know? Right?
No sleeves. You wanted me to be me? This is
me being me. I'm going full full me. There's there's
no fifty per. We don't have asset here. We're going
and I I gotta go to like preschool and stuff, right,
like to do this, like I gotta online classical not
allowed near a preschool? Yeah, but no priest priest school. Okay, no, no, no,

(18:09):
you just have to fill out that ad from the
back of the rolling sh Is that all you gotta do?
Pretty easy? You get asked all the time. Really, yeah,
anime world, are you getting me? Yeah? Wait, like he's
going he's trying to work a deal right now where
he gets flown to Japan to take Are you marrying
two anime characters?

Speaker 4 (18:28):
No?

Speaker 1 (18:28):
People that are cause playing his anime characters? Oh really yeah?
Okay I could be in for that, you think so? Yeah?
How much do you make?

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Pretty good?

Speaker 1 (18:36):
Yeah? How pretty close, Like, where are we at? Okay?
All right? Because I could be a good side hustle
for me. You know, Jason's but radio guy. He's a
he's a justice atacteds up as Elvis for that. No,
he wears a Freeman McNeil throwback jersey. He marries everybody.
He has his own chapel. What's it look like? That's uh,

(18:59):
you're a Jets fan, do you How are you gonna
do this? What do you mean? Oh, it's in the spring,
it's and it's not during the draft, so it's fine. Well,
that's not what I meant. What do you mean? You're dirty?
I mean I'm dirty. I mean what do you mean
I'll take a shower? What are you talking about? You're
like your soul? No, wow, wow, I do good things

(19:20):
all the time. I just told everybody what a bad
head coach Matt, even like they didn't know that already.
Some people need to be you know, you gotta lead
people to water and make sure they drink it. Yeah,
you go by this point, don't always drink it. By
this point, anybody who's even a half assed NFL fan,
they're drowning in the ear at this point. I mean,

(19:41):
he didn't know how much time was going to be
left if the Pits got yes, because it's still the NFL.
I'm also I'm still just mad at the pr staff
though they should have briefed him on this. Coach, We're
gonna keep you from your mouth when they ask you
about that. You would have had about thirty three seconds left.

(20:02):
So uh, when they ask you that question, just make
sure that you uh don't say a minute ten, say
they had it with thirty three seconds left. No, no, no, no, no,
Steve in the back.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
No.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
The better way to even say it is, as I
laid it out before, it's all about the trust in
your defense to that point that you were going to
be able to defend those twenty five yards if things
didn't go your way. Or you talk about Tyson Bagent
and how this was a big test moment for of course,
and it's oh, those things are great, but he said

(20:30):
none of them point because he wanted to pretain you.
He wanted to pretain he knew how much time was left,
but he didn't know how much time was left and
how much time the Panthers would have if they got
the football back. No, dude, you're going hey Eberflus is
an idiot. I say facts already in evidence. I think
if we did this at the wedding, this would be
a pretty good wed You know what, would ever forget this?

(20:51):
The bride group could sit down? Yeah, I got cause
I could down, take up to take a breath. Here
check my phone. Yeah, Jason, while you're doing that, claws
down and I kind of break it down from a
time perspective, And you're gonna have to start calling me
like reverend and stuff. I don't know what's up your sleeve?
What's up your sleep? You have to call me the Rev.

(21:11):
The Rev. Jason Smith, the Rev. The Rev. I know
you want to leave me. Yeah, before I pronounce you
man and wife. Look at my triceps, look at him?
And now we hear a big wedding song in the
Garden of Eden by Iron Butterfly D and then and
then and uh, you want to know who the door

(21:36):
is open for for NFL m VP guys were getting
a lot of great run the last couple of days,
and rightfully so we get no. I went through the
John Stama story earlier. I talked about what Yeah, we
got it made and Tony Dan's out. We went over
to that. I missed it. We went through that. We
went through it. I mean she was saying, hold me

(21:58):
closer to ship. She said, we got it. Made uh last.
A few weeks ago we talked about Jared goff In
the path being open for him. And part of this
is with these new players, is that the quarterbacks now
that have the inherent advantage over other players, is that
nobody's having that breakaway year, that year where you have

(22:20):
to sit back and go, well, what they're doing is incredible.
Their team is really good. These guys need to be
the MVP. There's nobody that way, even Tua who had
been the leader for a while. Eh, Miami's not that
great right now. Mahomes is the favorite. Mahomes is not
having a great year. Seventeen touchdowns, eight picks. This is
not all. This is not a Mahomes MVP type scene.

(22:41):
So I would say the one guy that maybe crashes
the party is the non quarterback. Could be if you
get but someone's got to have an look at where
Tyreek Hill hill in two thousand yards seats he's at
sixty nine catches, eight touchdowns and he's at one seventy
six yards. You know, the address of my high school
was ten seventy six Road in Chicago. But there we're

(23:04):
talking one hundred and fifty catches and two thousand yards
whatever like whatever that number is. But he gets to
two thousand, we have a conversation like he's the guy
that's kind of the outlier. Yeah, you can't just have
a great year as a receiver or a great year.
You have to have something that is that is historically great.
But the rest of the quarterbacks are all bunched up
being good not exceptional. You. So let me tell you

(23:27):
now how the door is open for CJ. Stroud to
win NFL MVP. All right, Stroud right now is having
just as good a year as anybody else. Fourteen touchdowns,
one pick, right, his completion percentages with the leaders, his
quarterback ratings with the leaders, his yards per attempt, everything,
one interception all the other leaders. Six seven. He does

(23:50):
not turn the football over, and he's aggressive and he
goes downfield and they put points on the board. All
these other quarterbacks you want to talk about all have
real good supporting casts. Now, some supporting casts are better
than others. To a supporting cast is fantastic. Mahome supporting
cast is pretty good. CJ. Stroud has Tank dellright, who's

(24:11):
a rookie receiver who's had a couple of really nice
games in five years. He's the only guy I can say, Hey,
he's still gonna be in the NFL. They can't run
the football at all, right, They haven't be able to
run the football all season long. Damian Pierce, Devin Singletary,
doesn't matter. Can't run the football, rex Burg Head nobody
can't run the foot, can't do it. He's got a

(24:32):
bunch of jags at most positions weapons wise, but he
is still found a way to be this good, and
more importantly, have the Houston Texans who are starting over.
And oh, by the way, I'll double down Demico Ryan's
coach of the Year in the NFL. I don't know
there's anybody else better than him right now either, as

(24:52):
long as he gets the Texans into the playoffs. Doesn't
need to win the division, does it. This is a
season where the Texans are starting over and he gets
them into the playoffs at nine and eight or ten
and seven. Yeah, he's the NFL MVP. If he throws
thirty touchdowns with two interceptions and Mahomes throws thirty five
with with thirteen interceptions. Guess what who had the better year? CJ.

(25:15):
Stroud had the better year, right, And that's the big thing.
It's not that Stroud is doing something better than all
the other quarterbacks. He's just doing something at the highest
level that all the other quarterbacks are at. Now. Joe
Burrow and Lamar Jacks are starting to get a little
run now. They've been playing a lot better, especially Burrow
in the last month, but over the course of the season, CJ.

(25:35):
Stroud's been better than both of them, and with a
much less, much worse supporting cast Ravens have a terrific defense,
They have a thousand guys who can run the football.
Theyount may have found their own demn h Chan last weekend.
These are all good teams. These are all good teams
that have good weapons and good players around him, and
Stroud has the worst. If he gets them into the playoffs, yeah,

(25:56):
it's wide open. He should be the MVP. So because
of the of the way it is with the quarterbacks
not leaping out, the best players not leaping out. Look
at what some of these guys are doing. It's still
open for Jared Goff to win right, it's not half
the season left to go. The Lions could be a
team that wins their division that cuts through the clutter. CJ.
Stroud cuts through the clutter too. You're I mean with him,

(26:16):
if you're projecting him for the rest of the year
and you're projecting the Texas into the playoffs, Yeah, that's
the MVP schedule is going to be interesting for him
down the stretch. I like the idea of one hundred
to one shot and sitting here at the midpoint and
trying to ascertain and trying to read the tea leaves.
You know, assuming that these other guys that are established

(26:39):
and we have some history with don't suddenly go on
a tear right that's suddenly in the bye week, you know,
Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes don't have an AHA moment
and suddenly that offense kicks off, or you know, Trevor Lawrence,
who's been pretty good at times. I would argue that
Etn's been your MVP of that squad to this point,
and I things we've seen Mahomes MVP and have better slit.

(27:01):
But this is where it goes to your storyline situations.
Where we sit right now in terms of stats for CJ.
Stroud sixty two percent completion rate, well, that ties him
for twenty fifth. There's a couple of guys that have
only played a few games that are in that mix
ahead of them, Aide O'Connell and others, but that ties
for twenty fifth. Fourteen touchdowns ties him for seventh with

(27:23):
Sam Sam Sam Howell, and his QBR of sixty two
point three ranks twelfth. His Quarterback Rating different Formula ranks fourth.
So there's there's a lot to draw from here, and
certainly the touchdown to interception ratio is intriguing. I like
Nicocollins and Dalton Schultz. Particularly Dalton Schultz. I thought he

(27:45):
was the the great addition that was going. He's up
and down. It took him a while to get hurt,
and you know other but like when when we break
it down to brass tacks throughout our run doing fantasy
and just fantasy football, and then obviously doing our run
here at Fox Sports Radio and and the other pathways
that brought us here. In the tight end is usually

(28:05):
your young quarterback's best friend. So I would expect if
he stays healthy, Dalton Schultz is gonna see a lot
of action here weeks, but you look at last year
was an amazing last week was amazing week for him.
Week before that he caught two passes. But that's just
and still there scoring, It's still there and still Nico Collins,
He's okay, He's pretty good. He's a pretty good receiver. Uh,

(28:27):
Tank Della is almost he's the guys just fast. But
he's but but when you play the slot like that
doesn't matter. He's borderline dupable at times. Look at you,
I like Tank, Well, you loved him before the season.
Now you're just Tank. Tank's gonna do everything you can
to accelerate your your love fest at him. Tank. But yeah,
we've had the storylines every one of these other quarterbacks

(28:50):
that would be up at the top, we've had got
up their their story arcs where they've had everybody get
excited about whether it's Dak, whether it's Jalen Hurts, whether
it's Josh Shallon, who even though folks don't want to
admit it leads in a lot of big categories and
and more advanced metrics like how he's got all those
interceptions several of those were punts. Yeah and hoping, Hey

(29:13):
if Diggs runs under it, great. If Gabe Davis runs
under it, great, If not, they catch the ball at
the three yard line and as long as we tackle
them back there doesn't matter. Kind of like you're playing
street football, pod Jay. But you know so so in
a lot of those you know metrics, he he still
rates among the leaders. But again we've had their storylines,

(29:35):
we've had their arcs and builds, their villain backgrounds, whatever
the case may be. So for CJ. Stroud, you know
we talked with Jay Glazer about it earlier. Remember uh,
he was very adam and saying, look, I'm not a
great test taker. Just wait till you see me on
the field. That c J. Stroud man too bad justin fields.
Jets could have had him. Oh no, we couldn't have

(29:56):
Jets could have had him. How can we have had him?
They picked second this year. You could have had the MV.
We could not have gotten him. Could have found a way. No,
we couldn't get creative enough. We spent money on a
guy that had broke and this we picked second the
wrong year and thanks to Frank Gore getting first downs,
we didn't get Trevor Lawrence. We had to get the

(30:16):
next guy boy, that was a great game to with
you that day, Frank Or Falling backwards with The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Coming up next,
the Play of the Night, and we're gonna get to
talk about a museum. This belongs to a museum. I
didn't think I'd wake up today say we have to
talk about a museum. But we have to talk about

(30:36):
a museum. Coming up next, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
We have to play the Night. Come in your way
in a couple of minutes. But first we got to
talk about a museum. Uh, there is nothing more peak
and on brand Lebron James. Then the story that came
out today that the Lebron James Museum is going to

(31:11):
open soon in Akron, Okay. It is a museum that
is set up by his foundation and all of the
profits that they make are going to go to the
the the city of Akron. Oh. That's good admissions twenty
three dollars, you know, Lebron's jersey. Now you can make
it six special day like museum days, six dollars edition.

(31:32):
It's six dollars during Olympic years. So this is there
is nothing more peak Lebron than this. I'm myself, my people,
I'm opening a museum about me. I'm opening my own
museum where you can see all kinds of things from
earlier in my life, Like they got lockers and sneakers

(31:54):
that he wore, the suit he wore to the draft
in two thousands. There's gonna be one exhibit that it's
going to be a remake the apartment he and his
mom lived in when they were growing up, which kind
of has a really weird ready Player one end of
movie vibe where they you know, they find the guys.
Uh he's hangings hanging out in his attic where he
lived as a teenager. Right, it's very very weird. But

(32:16):
this is so peak Lebron because here's something so incredibly
narcissistic and and and and elitist, but yet hidden with Hey,
it's not that elite narcissistic because I'm giving back to
the community, right, Like it's it's it's this is peak Lebron. James.
This is how he does it. There is nobody more
polarizing in the history of sports, because it's not like

(32:37):
he just acts one way. So you think, okay, well
Lebron does this and I like it. I don't like it. No, no, no,
here it is. Here's my museum about my life while
I'm still alive and while I'm still playing. Not while
I'm dead, not while I played forty years ago. No,
here's a museum. He probably pulled it the suit from
the draft, out from his closet and said, hey, put
this in the museum. So now he's still playing, there's

(32:59):
gonna be a museum. And east this is, this is blowing.
This is like it's been flummixing you all night. It's
everything he does. I mean, there's gonna be a big
hole in in sports when he retires, because boy, he

(33:21):
provides so much content and so much drives so many
opinions one side or the other. Looks still thirty eight,
thirty nine years old, and you're still talking with Tilton
Lebron James the number one star in the league. And
I get it. And I look at this today and
I say to myself, yeah, yeah, this is this is
this is completely on Brandy, not a not a a

(33:44):
a Reagan library that other people have to wait, oh,
look at this. Here's a second State of the Union
that was so famous, and here's this, and here's this. No, no,
here's all stuff from my life that I'm gonna pay
for to put out for people to come see it.
And then then then then the town gets the money.
It's like, okay, it's it's the whole thing with with
the decision. Oh it's a it's an hour special about
me where I'm gonna go play, but I'm gonna do

(34:06):
it for Boys and Girls Club. It's like, okay, like
I'm doing this to make you not hate me. So
I'm gonna give the money to here. I'm gonna do
this here. Like, but this is Lebron James. This is
what he does. No, you try to straddle that fence.
And certainly, you know, we had someone chime in about
this saying, hey, you know Yogi Barra had one while
he was like, yeah, he was sixty three, yeah, yeah,
And it was more a tribute to all the guys

(34:28):
he played with on all of those title teams than himself. Yes,
he's in the picture, but it's Look, I played with
Mickey Mantle. Look, I played with Roger Harris and Whitey
four and all these other guys. So you let's celebrate
all things a Yankee where I'm the conduit and he
was sixty three, I'm fight at a time where you know,

(34:48):
guys getting getting older. I had an opportunity to meet
Yogi a couple of times, some great stories now and
all of that was fit different, different Yogi Yogy. But
with this, with the ron, I mean I get it,
you know, I acron benefits. You want to show about
humble beginnings and all of those. I'm thirty nine years
old and here's a museum about my life. I'm thirty

(35:10):
nine years old. Well here's the thing, though, if you
had it in a storage locker, you know, those dirt
bags from that TV show might end up with it.
I heard it. I heard His jersey from tomorrow night's
tournament game is gonna be good. Should be one of
the first exhibits all his jerseys from the first playing
tournament opening game, right next to that space ship movie

(35:31):
nobody watched. I I I look, it's gonna be something
fun for fans to go see, and fans that go
look at But boy, I I just I just can't
get over this is this is a lot he putting
a statue of himself out show what's the post. There's
got to be a statue and no it's gonna be

(35:51):
pointing to go in and and go? Is it the pose?
When he was yelling at Jrs, here's how much time
is left yet it's just him mean muggin dun Brooks
to stare down here. You stand here in these footprints.
