Speaker 1 (00:58):
Well, we're gonna have more on Tommy DeVito, Tommy Cutlet's
and the Giants coming up in a few minutes. But
Mike Harmon, you havesked a very important question a few
minutes ago, and I want to get to this before
we get to Patrick Mahomes. They kept showing Tommy DeVito's agent,
whoever it was on the sideline of the game tonight
with his family, and the guy comes all geared up

(01:19):
and dressed up, you know, leading look my father Guido Sarduciyeah,
leaning into the Italian heritage, which is what Tommy dv
does said he does.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
He had the black hat, the pittstripe suit, the Jane.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
He is his agent, and his agent's name is Sean Stillato.
That's the guy's name. That's a perfect name. Hey, there
is Tommy DeVito's agent. You gotta talk to Shawne. Stillato.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Shawnie's his head.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Me and Shohnny go way back. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
Yeah, but you got to try to get through all
those other guys to get to him.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
Yeah, you want with.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
His agent, Dude, I know Sean. Shawnie and I Seanny
and I go all the way back to middle school.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
I'll tell you Seani. Seani was great. He's a fun doing.
I'll tell you what Seany was fun.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
He was fun, insane.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
Now we know who he is. The and the New
York Post has the uh the expos on it with.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Everything they have they have this Yeah, okay, yeah, where.

Speaker 5 (02:11):
Do you think there's gonna be? This comes out of
the Des Moines Press. No, not a New York.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Post, that US News and World Report.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
We had to get that Tommy DeVito story in here, right,
all right, all right, all right, all right.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Uh, but we will have more on this game and
both Monday night games, which were incredibly entertaining and did
not go the way we thought they were gonna go.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
Uh, coming up in a few minutes.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
But you know, it's hard to be surprised in what
we do for a living because we see a lot
and and even things that seem like they're unexpected. Well, okay,
well I could see why this coming. I can see
why this coming. I did not see the Patrick Mahomes
meltdown following the Canarius Tony play last night coming. I mean,
this was this was It was to the point where

(02:55):
it's just embarrassing. Sure Mahomes right, It was so embarrassing
for the guy because he's got to grow up, like like, dude,
what are you talking about?

Speaker 5 (03:02):
Man?

Speaker 1 (03:02):
So you know the play that we're the play that
gets disallowed, the Travis Kelcey across the field lateral uh
to Tony for a touchdown nullified because Tony lined up
offside and Mahomes was mad after the after they didn't
get the touchdown. He was yelling at Carl Cheffer's. He

(03:23):
talked about how upset he was in the in the
postgame press conference, and he even got into it and
not he got into it, but wanted to tell josh
Allen how bad a call it was midfield each other.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
I mean, this is this is.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
This is the most embarrassing part of it for me
with him, is that here, let's play the Mahomes if
we get Mahomes because if you remember, if you lose
a long show, we did this earlier.

Speaker 5 (03:47):
We didn't get it. Uh.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Here's Mahomes talking to josh Allen in the middle of
the field when they say goodbye at the end of
the game.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
Good game, good game.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
And this is what Mahomes decided he wanted to say
to josh Allen when they congratulate each other after the
game was over.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Okay, cut, cut, all right, I've had it. Listen stop.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
I'll never find out what makes people angry because nobody
will stop long enough to talk to me.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Okay, Yes, he was very angry.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
He was animated.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
I mean turbot really, uh, and Joshua or Pat Mahomes
there and now I got Josh Allen and the brains,
you know, as the recipient of that rant.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
I mean, that is just a tough way to go.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
You're fired up because you really want a good angle
at it too, right, So you know you're angry because
you called this great. Whether you called it, you practiced it.
The excellence of execution was certainly there. And I was like,
all right, I want to go to the tape. I
want to see something real. I suppose the imaginary.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Line you'd lay down? Was he Julie offside?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Come on?

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Uh, this is Mahomes talking to Josh Allen on the
field after the game.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Hey, to talk about the word in. They see these
two doors back here. Well, this one here has the
word in written on it. Okay, Now that's so you
will know that this is the door you use when
you want to go in.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
Okay. So he told him how to get into the
locker room, apparently talking.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Talk to me like I'm a five year old. Make
me understand it.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Explain it to me like I'm five. So again again,
if you listen to the show, you know what, I'm
just not going to get that. So he talks to
Alan after the game and he says, you know, worst
call I've ever seen, man, worst call I ever seen,
worst call I've ever seen worst, and Alan kind of
tasks it, yeah, great, great, walks away, like, dude, what
are you talking about?

Speaker 5 (05:36):
What are you doing? Man? What do you do?

Speaker 1 (05:38):
And it was just so embarrassing for Mahomes. I was
I was embarrassed for the guy because I'm like, dude,
first of all, it was a penalty. I get you
don't like the call, but it was a penalty. And
even Andy Reid afterwards said, hey, yes, it was a penalty.
I know, sometimes the referees tell you when you're lined up,
if you're off sides, I tell the receiver you got
to move back a little bit, but they did this case.

Speaker 5 (06:00):
It was a penalty.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
And here's Mahomes melting down over the fact that, oh,
they should have told us that he wasn't on side, Like, okay,
so you want to commit a penalty, but be told
that because in seven years you haven't seen the call.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
Well, and that's the thing, right, I think I saw
it somewhere. The Andy Reid in all his play calling,
going back to Green Bay and everything, he's never had
that call. So he's kind of raised a handover the
check normally works, and then you got the subruna film saying,
well did he check?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Maybe maybe not, but either way he didn't move one
way or the other. So a situation.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
And remember how he got a fell victim to the
play three years ago in the n AFC Championship game
where Brady was able to get another chance because he
threw a pick but d Ford lined up offside and
it was it turned out to be. Instead of an
interception for the Chiefs and they were going to win
the game, it was a penalty and the Page's were

(06:56):
able to go down, get a touchdown and win the game. So,
I mean, remember a couple of times that has happened. Now,
I get that, and I get the year upset about this,
But a penalty is a penalty. What can you say
the guy lined up offside? I mean it was clear
his day he lined up offside. So you can be
upset that all the rest didn't help us in do that. Okay,
you know what, but it was still a penalty. And
you know, and I get that that officiating.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Has been terrible.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
I mean, the officiating has never been as bad as
it's been this year. Right there, were four plays in
the first half of the Jets game yesterday. I just said,
we're never gonna win. It's every time the Jets do something,
we're throwing a ridiculous flag, right, And there was one
ridiculous one of the Texans for offensive pass interference. You
have many players now every game every week saying officiating trouble,
Miles Garrett saying, O, how terrible.

Speaker 5 (07:41):
The officiating is. But this is different.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
This was a penalty and in previous years the Chiefs
would have been strong enough to go back down the
field and score, but instead that was it, and Mahomes
lost it because he's just frustrated that he can't do
and the Chiefs aren't the same team that they have been,
that they can't just go up and down the field
with ease and score when they need to score.

Speaker 5 (08:02):
And the legend of.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Mahomes is taking a hit and he's not having the
year that he normally has, mainly because the wide receivers
they have stink. And there's no better play that illustrates
the chief season. Then here's an incredible play, a long
pass to Travis Kelce who throws it across for a touchdown.
But the wide receiver lined up offside like that's the
entire season in one play for the Chiefs. But Mahomes

(08:24):
is just frustrated, and I get it, but it's embarrassing
and he needs to grow up and say, you know what, Sorry,
you can't see. I mean, you're gonna sit there and
complain about that call that didn't end the game. It's
not like that was a call was a touchdown? No,
you had chances, but you couldn't get a first down.
You couldn't get it out of your head. It should
have been a touchdown. You're upset about that call, right. Meanwhile,
have you seen the call? Have you seen it? No,

(08:45):
Mahomes didn't see it. There's no way he was able
to see what the play was. But he wants to
go crazy Yellow Carl Cheffers because he couldn't convert and
he couldn't make the play and he's mad at himself
and he wants to come out here and all he
did was embarrass himself. Quite honestly, because I can't believe
Mahome stooped to that level of I'm gonna sit and
blame the officials on the field. I'm gonna yell at
the referee then I'm gonna say it in the press

(09:07):
conference after. I'm gonna say it when I'm congratulating Josh
Allen after a game. I'm just embarrass myself. I mean,
that's all he did. That's all Mahomes did was like, dude,
just grow up. Take the loss. You lost.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
The game was a penalty. Move on.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
And maybe that's why Andy Reid came out today and said, hey,
seeing it again, it was a penalty.

Speaker 5 (09:22):
Then let's move on.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Let's continue to move on, because the Chiefs got issues, man,
And we told you last week not going out and
getting receivers at the deadline and trying to make it
work with the same type of crew they made it
work last year with, and it's not going that way
this year. Last year they were able to do it right,
the wide receivers able to figure things out. Now, Hey,
we got a draft pick in Rashie Rice and sky
Moore might be really good and maybe here comes Justin

(09:46):
Ross and oh Canarius Tony former first round pick, and
we can make it. No, it's not the same and
it's not working, and Mahomes is frustrated and the Chiefs
are not nearly as good as we thought they were,
and their offense is not as good, and all of
it came to a boil with Mahomes in that instant,
and he looked really, really bad and was the first
time I could say, Patrick Mahomes, I don't know what
the hell you're doing, man, and that that's like he

(10:07):
doesn't get a lot of criticism that often, but that
behavior there that was.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
Just embarrassing for him, was embarrassing for the Chiefs.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
The old Mount Vesuvius right bubbling under the surface. Coming
into that game, they led the National Football League with
thirty two drop passes. Justin Ross who you reference, Hey,
he's finally going to be eligible coming off his suspension
in week fifteen, NBS. You had the play last week, right,
go back to the pass interference that wasn't So it's

(10:35):
been boiling, right, it's been bubbling under the surface, and
Mahomes has kept us cool last week, kept us cool.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
This week, No, it finally erupted.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
And you had more drops, you had more issues, and
then obviously you have the call that is what was
it eleven times this year? The point of emphasis as
it comes out, but again showing how for many many
years it hadn't been called end of the eleven this year,
it's either sex it or eight are on. You know,
the quarterback sneaks, brotherly shoved type plays where offensive linemen

(11:11):
are lining up in bad spots right relative to the
line of scrimmage and getting flagged for it or trying
to get that initial surge where you're moving before the snap,
all of that. So it's actually against wide receivers. Been
very little called in that respect. So yeah, I get
the frustration. Taking it out screaming at Josh Allen makes

(11:33):
no sense, going and trying to say, well, this takes
away from the greatness. I mean, come on. It was
another great thing for Travis Kelcey. This should be in
his Hall of Fame video, Like the hell are you
talking about? So penalty and it doesn't count? Someone give
them a hug. And I get it. It's a frustrating
season because it's you're living on the margins. You're not

(11:54):
having the same explosive plays with regularity that you have
in the past, and some of these depth sits and
when you go into some of the lulls offensively, the
road back is a lot harder. And obviously not having
Isaiah Pacheco is a huge loss. He'd been twenty or
more touches three straight games, and you'd seen the productivity

(12:15):
start to give you at least a little bit of
an option in terms of play action and things for Mahomes.
But those margins aren't there. The defense isn't shutting things
down the way they did early in the season, much
like we were talking about with Jason locking for related
to the Cleveland Browns and others. It's hard to sustain
that for a full season. Right now, you see what

(12:35):
Denver and Chicago and their defenses have done. Denver with
some subtractions and just guys getting healthy and fortification of
their back seven. The Bears going and getting Montes sweat
changes your fortunes. For teams that didn't go out and
make those big pushes and additions, you know what, Guys
are tired, Guys are hurt, and guys are grinding through

(12:55):
and it starts to show and wanes over time, particularly
when you're off. Offence isn't operating at full capacity. And
so for the Chiefs where they're at right now. Yeah,
this was all just all the frustration of a full
season for Patrick Mahomes and it bubbled over and I
loved all of the overdubs of the crying children exit.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
How about a Fresca exit?

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Swell one, don't now, I'm told by Frostburg we actually
do have Mahomes' interaction with Josh Allen following the game.

Speaker 5 (13:26):
Okay, let's hear it. Well, what are you doing here?
I am the now allway that operator.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
I got the job this morning.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
Wonderful, Yes, and I'm going to love it because I
get the county floor. I'm just picturing Josh Allen talking
like the count.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Well, if you want to you want to hear that audio,
you're gonna have to find it on the internet.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Yeah, by the way, just to take the other side
of that really fast. What a huge win for Buffalo
all the backing of McDermot in the locker room after
the week of stuff coming out from four years ago.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
May not like it, but a win is a win
for a squad.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome.

Speaker 1 (14:11):

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jay the Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon Yo live from the tire Rack
dot Com Studios. And boy, did we really get the
opposite of what we thought we're gonna get on Monday Night?

Speaker 6 (16:11):
Right?

Speaker 1 (16:12):
We thought, okay, we got the Giants and the Packers,
and yeah, okay, Tommy Cutlets is fun.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Oh I thought you might well that too.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
I thought we'd get a good game with the Packers
and Giants. I thought it would be but I thought
going in it would be close. The other game was
a thirteen or fourteen point line, depending on where you
got in. So you're expecting the Dolphins to do what
they they'd shown us capable of in the past.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
But you know, we do the whole thing with a
with a with a question mark, and you're expecting the
Dolphins to give us what they name.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Best Ron. I've got a fuck.

Speaker 6 (16:49):
No, it's the I'm starting to talk it out, and
I'm like, you know what, we got to talk about
Tommy Cutlets first, yet, because he is the bane of
your existence in this.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Tommy Cutlets is out. Jordaning Love, Jordan and Love. All right, well,
Jordan Love first, Jordan Love is fine, all right. He's
played really well. The middle of the season has been
done very well for him. This is exactly where I
expected the Packers to be, right around five hundred, contending
for a playoff spot, and Jordan Love was gonna show that, Hey,

(17:18):
I can move this team and I can be the guy.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
Did not have a great night tonight.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
However, he got them down in the final two minutes,
got them in the end zone, and they.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
Took the lead.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
They didn't get the two point conversion, but you know,
they ran some crazy reverse play and it wasn't even close.
The Giants sniffed it out. So for all the Jordan
Loved to, Jordan Love did what he supposed. Not every
game is going to be a great game, but he
goes down, gets him in the end zone, and they
had a lead, and the Packers played soft defensively and
Tommy Cutltz drives the Giants down to win. I feel

(17:48):
the sandbout Jordan Love as I did a week ago.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
He is fine.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
You can continue to play. I'm sold on him. Bring
him back next year, let him keep going. You know
you want to bring a developmental guy, that's fine, But
I'm sold on Jordan Love. He is still shown this year.
He is worthy of continuing to play this year into next.
He got you down there tonight. It's not his fault
that well.

Speaker 6 (18:09):
Go find yourself an A one running back in the marketplace.
I love aj Dillon right, quad Squad, University, all that
fun stuff.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Aaron Jones can't stay healthy anymore.

Speaker 6 (18:19):
No, he was ineffective, and he was ineffective when he
was available. And Dylan has his spots, and you saw
tonight a little bit run after the catch, had a
couple of good runs for them, finished with fifty three
yards on fifteen carries.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
You need more, you need more.

Speaker 6 (18:34):
So it's the first order of business is to go
find yourself another running back to compliment it, because that's
the style of football you wanted to play, unless it's
going to be an all out air raid with Jordan
Love next year, which I don't know that that's necessarily
the past.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
You're looking to go.

Speaker 6 (18:52):
Yes, yeah, no, you didn't have Kristin Watson in this
game either, which he's become a big target for you.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yeah, you need if this is how you're building the team,
you need to bring in more weapons and continue to
do it. But the Packers, you're fine. You lost this game, Okay,
you should have won. It was a Monday night on
the road. You're in position to do it, and your
defense gaged it away at the end because you weren't
aggressive enough. Okay, it happens now for Tommy cutlets this
is what upsets me.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
Okay, this is what upsets me. All right.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
I'm not upset that Tommy Cutletz has become this big
cottage industry now right. He's leaning into Hey, my Italian
American heritage and everybody.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
Look people his agent at.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
The game tonight, kissing his dad on the cheek, the
dad kisses him on the cheek. They're gonna play Godfather
music every time he comes into the stadium. I mean,
it's awesome, but this is what kisses me off, And
you think it's.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Gonna be the other one.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Yes, Tommy DeVito is just the latest quarterback that any
other team in the NFL not named the Jets can
just pluck from obscurity, put in the lineup and can
do well.

Speaker 5 (19:54):
Apparently everybody can do that, but the Jets.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Everybody can just get guys off the couch, like it's
Joe Flacco, who the Jets actually already.

Speaker 5 (20:01):
Had and now we'll bring it back. Now.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Apparently anybody else can get a quarterback and find them
from somewhere from their practice squad whatever is.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
Everybody can do it except the Jets.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
So yeah, I'm a little salty to Tommy DeVito's the
latest guy to go from hey, im an undrafted free
agent into saying, hey, look at me, I'm the toast
of the town. And Zach Wilson finally has the best
half of his life and all of you. But he's
gonna be able to talk about his me for the
next week because I'm Tommy bleeping cutlets.

Speaker 5 (20:27):
But that's not what makes me upset.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
What makes me upset is that the guy couldn't keep
the starting job at Syracuse.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
Mike Harmon, he was brought in to be the next
great quarterback.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
You're going all the way back to his villain origin story.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
I'm going back tonight twenty eighteen when Eric Dungee graduated
the Syracuse won ten games.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
Jason, what if I were to tell you he was
too good for Syracuse?

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Well, first I got to explain the millennials about twenty
eighteen Syracuse winning ten games, Like that's like, doesn't all
I thought you.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
Were gonna say, you got to explain the millennials what
Syracuse is.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
Hey, we beat Georgetown this week and I a great weekend.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
So he couldn't stay the quarterback at Syracuse when he
was a huge he was the biggest quarterback recruit.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
They had had in years.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
Like I want to say since Donovan McNabb, like he's
been that. He was that guy couldn't keep the job
at Syracuse. Has to go finish at Illinois and has
a pretty decent senior year, but not unbelievable. He's still
undrafted and now here he is starting in the NFL,
and the Giants are now looking over Daniel Jones' contract, going.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
Anyway we can get out of it? Can we get
out of it? Anybody want Daniel Jones? Who wants Daniel Jones?

Speaker 1 (21:30):
The guys become this guy, And really I'm more upset
that my college he couldn't stay the starting quarterback at
my school.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
Then I ended.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
Here's because I've seen lots of guys show up out
of nowhere to say, hey, I can ball as long
as I'm not on the Jets.

Speaker 5 (21:43):
I've seen that this I have not seen.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
He couldn't stay in the starting quarterback at Syracuse, and
that's why.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
We have new head coach and new coaching staff Mike Harmon.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
Well, they weren't able to maximize the prospect he was
to become. Sounds like the Jets franchise. So it sounds
like you've got an institutional album with places you, uh,
you love when you look at Syracuse and the Jets.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
Of this is being done to me, No, this is
being No, it's perpetrated upon you, done to me. Yes,
this is not being done to anybody. It's being done
to me.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
But it's your fault. You could have You could have
gone to a different school. You could have chosen a
different team. You could have been a Giants fan and
Tommy Cutler would have been your guy. You could have
been celebrating Tommy Cutlet's tonight.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Honestly, I was either going to Syracuse or Soony Buffalo
Syracuse or Soonie Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
See there you go. So well, yeah, mean, I still
think you made a pretty good choice. When it's all
said and done.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
Oh yeah, well I got you back. I paid back
a hell a bigger student.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
I mean, you did get that one national title for Beaeheim.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
Yeah, dude, that's what I got.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Well, so what did you get, Jason, since you graduated
in nineteen ninety two, what'd you get the last thirty years?

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Paid backs?

Speaker 5 (22:49):
I got?

Speaker 1 (22:50):
I got a national title in two thousand and three,
and I got the uh the Basketball Tournament championship a
couple of years ago.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
And I learned all about compound interest and student loans.

Speaker 6 (23:02):
But so, when you look at the development of these quarterbacks,
we always wonder about the never weres, Guys that didn't
get a chance, Guys that came in with high pedigree
coming out of college. Well, wow, he never really played
in the NFL went to a team where the opportunity
didn't jump up right, where maybe your starter didn't get hurt,

(23:23):
maybe you were just the third string guy that just
never got enough reps, and the way things cycle out,
you didn't get to hang around. Now you got guys
that carry clipboards forever and have the opportunity to linger
around the league. Why, because we're going through quarterbacks all
over the place. Right, we're in the mid fifties in
terms of guys starting at this point in the year.

(23:43):
With a couple of weeks left, we'll see how many
if we can turn the dial to the next ten
one more time. But opportunities present themselves. So guys are around,
and if you get into the right system, the right circumstance,
I e. Hey, this season is loss. So maybe the
offense we were trying to run the first six weeks,

(24:05):
maybe we're opening up a little bit, just like your
Jets did with Zach Wilson. Right, that didn't look like
the same thing you were running most of the year.
And part of that I think was Zach Wilson saying, blank,
you all you can do is bench me again. I've
already been embarrassed enough and the other is, Okay, let's
really lean into him, which is what we preach and

(24:26):
have been since you and I have been doing the
show together and years before that. It's like, if you're
gonna draft a guy in square peg round a whole
kind of thing, it's like, go figure out what he
does best and bring that to your offense as opposed
to you know, I'm the delicate, genius offensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
You'll run how I run things.

Speaker 6 (24:45):
Very few places has that actually worked where you've been
able to go quarterback to quarterback without making huge adjustments
to your systems and how you're play calling. For Tommy DeVito,
you got the perfect alignment of things. Expectations, low backstory,
fantastic every win, you become a folk hero ingrained in

(25:06):
New York loar forever. I mean he could be if
this was a couple of years ago. I mean, he
could be like Jeremy Lynn where he's suddenly on sports illustrating.
Oh yeah yeah, but now he don't say I sports illustrating.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Yeah, de Vito sanity. That's what we got going on
right now. It's it's the same thing.

Speaker 6 (25:24):
And how many guys are gonna dress like his agent?
Like if Halloween was coming now, I mean think.

Speaker 5 (25:29):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah. If Halloween was now, everybody
would be DeVito's agent.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
Yeah, but of course everybody our agent is going your
father Guido Sarducci from Saturday Night Live.

Speaker 5 (25:38):
This is a father Guido Sarducci man in.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
The stream ically done.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
The Jason Smiths who with Mike Harbon Live the Tirec
dot Com Studios.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Now let's get to the Dolphins.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
The Dolphins who I'm telling you, if I was a
Dolphins fan, I would not sleep tonight. I've had losses
like this where I've said to myself, I can't believe
what I just saw from the Jets or the Mets,
and I'd be up until four in the morning, laying
there at the.

Speaker 5 (26:05):
Ceiling, go how the hell did we lose this game?
How did that? Was this kind of game?

Speaker 6 (26:09):
That was the big quote from Mike McDaniel's post game
He said, that should be every person in the locker
room and everybody on the coaching staff, because I can.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Tell you I ain't sleeping tonight, No, and you shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
You blow a two touchdown lead in the final three
minutes of the fourth quarter, you blow it at home
to a four and eight team uh after getting two
gift touchdowns to give you the lead. On fumbles that
were Jets like, you know, the fumbled punt and the

(26:40):
fumbled uh pitch on the next play. I mean, these
were Jets like fumbles.

Speaker 6 (26:44):
You see did you see the clip of the returner
going over to Brabel to try to explain what happened
on that play?

Speaker 5 (26:50):
Hey, my my arm got hit. My arm got yeah response.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
No, I don't care.

Speaker 5 (26:56):
Well that's why I say.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
It's you know, he's got to get away from the
ball right and get away from the ball at that point.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
But no, he did get hit.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
But it doesn't matter. It was an embarrassing fumble. It's
a Jets like fumble. Jets like fumble on the next
play and this game should have been over, but the
Dolphins just couldn't close it.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
And it's embarrassing. And not only that.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Now, if you want to say that the Cowboys all
they got to beat somebody for me to think they're good.
Sometimes it's unfair for the Cowboys because the Cowboys can
win eight games in a row and they would say
they got to win nine or here they are in
the super Bowl, Well, they got to win the Super Bowl.
But they won the Super Bowl. They got to win
two in a row. They won the last four Super Bowls.
They've not got five super Bowls in a row. Sometimes
it's unfair, But for the Dolphins, one hundred percent, they're

(27:37):
paper tigers, their pretenders. They have not They've beaten one
team with a record over five hundred this year. That's
seventy to twenty win over the Broncos in Week three.
All their other wins are against teams that absolutely stink,
and the Titans stink and they still blew this game tonight.
It's like the Dolphins are on too. They're just kind
of existing and they look like they're better than they are.

(28:00):
And when you have a game like tonight on National TV,
where you just shake your head and go, I don't
know what is up. I don't know what kind of
leadership you have. I don't know how you wind up
closing games with all this talent. Yeah no, I'm not
believing You're on my never again list for this year.
I'm never gonna pick the Dolphins do anything. I don't
care how far they go, because they can put together
stuff like this, but they're gonna eventually have to play

(28:21):
a team that's got a winning record, and they got
three games at the end of the season. They got
the Jets next week, so hey, that's great, they're gonna
win that game. But then they got three games against
teams that actually have winning records. And where are they
gonna be after that? Are they gonna sneak into the playoffs?

Speaker 5 (28:34):
Right?

Speaker 1 (28:35):
Are they gonna be a team that gets in? Are
they not gonna get in? And then it's gonna be
what happened to them once Mighty Dolphins? Not believing in
the Dolphins. Man, they're off my list right now.

Speaker 6 (28:43):
Yeah, I concur We'll keep an eye on Tyreek Hill.
He was missing a lot of that fourth quarter, wasn't
on the field snap count. Low did have a couple
of catches after coming back into the game, But you
get me a related and justin keeps saying, don't three game.

Speaker 5 (28:59):
Okay, No, not pregame meal related. No, you don't know that, No, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Listen, just because he walks in to the stadium tonight
with McDonald's doesn't mean his injury and performance was related at.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Or that he consumed it. Maybe it's a gift for someone.
As he was walking in yeah, I just said pregame meal.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
But it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
There's no correlation between eighty McDonald's and losing a football game.
Again said there's no correlation.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
Well, we're gonna start the sample size and see if
we can't see, you know, ferret.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
This out into a larger study.

Speaker 6 (29:32):
A couple of things, right, you got the defensive touchdown
that was their first touchdown when the offense was inept
and that was with Tyreek Hill on the field. And
then you get those two short field touchdowns after the
fumbles and lunacy. I will say this, it is appropriate
to have this sort of chaotic finish for the Tennessee

(29:52):
Titans twenty four hours after the loss of the architect
of the Music City miracle. So I raise up my
car feed of Frank Whitecheck and his memory. This game
had a lot of twists and turns and chaos as well.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
So salute exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome.

Speaker 6 (30:52):
Congratulations to Tommy Cutltz. But you didn't say that truthfully,
said Maggy Man. You're sticking pins into a voodoo.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Doll right now. You're so mad about that guy.

Speaker 5 (31:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
We talked about the Dolphins and their choke, Yeah, right,
and how bad it was and all by good, like
I said, nobody would go to if I'm a Dolphin fan,
I'm not sleeping tonight. I'm up till four in the
morning calling overnight local radio shows, going.

Speaker 5 (31:21):
How do we not do that? What happened? What happened?
But let's just get into Tua here for a couple
of seconds, because.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
The general opinion of him by everybody who hates him
is that Oh, he doesn't have the arm, and you
can't have the arm, and look at what happens. Sometimes
he tries to throw deep and Tyreek Hill's got to
adjust his routes and come back to the ball and
all of these things. That's a load of crap because
if Tua really didn't have a strong enough arm throwing
deep to Tyreek Hill, he would get picked off more.

(31:51):
And instead Tyreek Kill is running behind the defenders all
the time. So I don't understand where where that's part
of it. You saw tonight he overthre Devon h Chan
on a play where eight Chan stopped running, which maybe
was why he got reduced snaps in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 5 (32:05):
But you can see that.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Okay, when he throws deep, Tua can get the ball
out there, but he does not have the strongest arm.
But where it manifests itself is in a different spot.
Tonight he was able to the Titans were able to
make him uncomfortable and make him move around the pocket
a lot. And when Tua can't hit his first read
or his second read or third read in the pocket
and stay there and throw it once, he's got to

(32:28):
move around, and receivers are all over the field. He
doesn't have the arm to just hey, I'm going to
throw a dart here to to a wide receiver for
five yards you know, at the at the stick or
near the sideline, or here's a running back who is
going to get three yards of this play. He can't
do that. He doesn't have the arm when things are

(32:49):
moving around him and to run and to throw on
the run and get something out there. He's too weak
of an arm and he'll get jumped by the defensive backs.
We'll jump in and either lay a big hit on
a player or break it up or pick it off.
That's where Tua's arm strength really hurts, and you saw
it tonight because the Titans were able to get pressure
on him, force him around to move around, and there's

(33:10):
a little bit of panic in him when he's got
to move around a little bit. So he's very indecisive
as well. So that's something he's got to work on.
But most quarterbacks if that happens, Hey, I got the
arm to make a throw. Zach Wilson's got the arm
to make a throw to get him out of a
situation like that because he can throw it off the
back foot like he's Jay cutler, but Tua can't do that,
and that's where his arm strength gets him in trouble.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
Yeah, Lolly pop throws right, gets a lot of air
under it. And when you're talking about the deep ball,
whether it's to hill or to waddle and just letting
them run under it or run back to it. As
you know, we've seen a number of times with the
way the NFL runs anymore, where you underthrow the ball,
either your guy comes back and makes a play or
he gets run through by a defensive back. Same result

(33:52):
forty five yards first down. So you have that thing
with two of that, you know, magnified a little bit.
Obviously standalone game. We're not watching it on a grid
with four other games or eight other games, or however
the hell you're consuming it is that he seems reticent
to tuck the ball and run. And maybe that's been
self preservation after last year I had all the talk

(34:14):
about concussions and taking care of yourself or whatever. Maybe
it's the save yourself for another down. But he keeps
pulling out, like there were a couple times where he
got flushed out of the pocket, started to step up
and then was still reticent to run rather thinking suddenly
there was gonna be a break in containment in the secondary,
and he got tripped up time and time again instead

(34:36):
of taking the five yard gain, sliding down and living
to see another tail. So that part of the game
has got to adjust as well. You've got good running
backs and now we'll see what Tyreek Hill's injury status
is going forward. But they've also taken some losses both
from the defensive side and that offensive line we know

(34:56):
has been cobbled together throughout the year.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
Time now for the play of the night.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
