(00:51):
should be. Now, that's what I call a bleeping show.
The Chiefs have held off the Ravens twenty seven twenty.
When we last spoke, it looked like the Ravens had
tied the game on the final play of regulation with
a ten yard touchdown pass and Lamar Jackson to everyone's
new favorite fantasy tight end, However, while the touchdown looked
(01:15):
likely TJ, it was unlikely to be upheld upon further review.
The pass to the back of the end zone one
play after Lamar Jackson misses a wide open Z Flowers,
which we'll get to that play likely catch it comes down,
it is called a touchdown on the field. However, when
(01:37):
you looked at it following and they went and looked
and you saw there was I mean, it was so close,
but it was still obvious. Isaiah likely's the I would say,
what two inches of his foot, maybe three inches of
his foot at most were on the white out of
bounds in the back of the end zone. Is an
(01:57):
incomplete pass and the Chiefs twenty seven to twenty. It
is that close. Waffer thin, I feel like Looney, I'm
saying this close and I'm holding my fingers this close together.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
Now I would say this now. He's the co host
of Betty Versus the Penny with our guy Ben Maller
there on Peacock but former Fox Sports Radio colleague here.
This reminded me go back to twenty twenty one, remember
how razor thin the margin was between the nets and
the bucks, and then Kevin Durant hit that three pointer
(02:28):
that got reviewed and overturned. I really hope Isaiah Likely
wears a cleat that is the actual true size of
his foot, because otherwise he's gonna get clowned for his shoes,
just like Kevin Durant did in the days following that loss,
because the three was ruled a two, and then it
became very publicly known Kevin Durant wears a full size
(02:51):
larger shoe than he needs.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
To on the court.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
And here with Isaiah Likely, he brought it down and
you and I immediately looked at each other, go.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Oh, well, I don't know, but is that enough that
one size shoe smaller means he's actually in bounds.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
I don't know. I don't think.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
It still might be. It might be, it still might be.
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I go and I just hope he's wearing the true
size shoe, because if it's too big, they're gonna say, yeah,
if you wore your actual.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
Shoe size, it would have been a touchdown.
Speaker 4 (03:20):
Never mind that he was single handedly all right, well,
it was him and Lamar Jackson, the two guys that
carried their access to that point in the game.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
But you could see it and there's no doubt, there's
no question. Yes, it is really close, but you'll see
it by about three I would say maybe three inches.
That's probably about what it was that he was out
of bounds. Here's what the call sounded like on the
Chiefs radio network.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Third down, but it's moot.
Speaker 6 (03:47):
Five seconds left to go in the game, Ravens trailing
twenty seven to twenty to the Chiefs. Five seconds left.
Raven's at the ten yard line of Kansas City. She's
trying to play picket fence defense at the goal line.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
Jackson's been elusive in this game.
Speaker 6 (04:02):
Big rush by Kansas City, spinning around his Jackson. He
will throw it late at the back of the end
zone and the pass is god. It's a touchdown for
the Ravens nine yards deep in the end zone by
Isaiah Likely. And what a great play by Lamar Jackson
to keep the play alive and find Likely at the
back of the end zone.
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Now will the Ravens go for two to try to
win anything.
Speaker 7 (04:23):
On the field as a touchdown?
Speaker 5 (04:24):
The ruling of touchdown is under further review.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
After further review, the ruling of a touchdown was, of
course overturned. Chiefs win twenty seven to twenty and yes,
that really quick right there. John Harball was putting out
two fingers. They were gonna go for two if that
was a touchdown, It's not gonna be going to overtime.
(04:50):
They were gonna go for two if that was a touchdown,
except they went and looked at it. Obviously all the
scoring plays going for the review, but that was gonna
be an all or nothing play for the Ravens to
avoid overtime. Going for two.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
We got robbed. We got robbed that look we got
last second. I mean, look, think this is just one
of two seventy two.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
I know.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Look, okay, I will tell you this though, as great
as this was, right you loved it. I loved it,
The world loved it. This was so bleeping excit. I
almost cursed. This was so bleep and exciting to watch.
There is one person who hated this.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
One person.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Find out to search your mind. Who's the one person
who hated this? Who hated this game? How great it
was comes down to the final play, Chiefs win. They
look at it, touchdowns overturned. We're gonna talk about this
all kinds of drama. Who's the one person in the
world who hated this outcome the one person. One person,
(05:47):
And I'm gonna say, you're gonna go, oh, of course,
of course this person hated who.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Could possibly have hated I'm telling Greatness that we saw
one person.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
I'm gonna say, and you're gonnay absolutely right. Right now,
Remember this is Thursday night football. Yeah. Who normally calls
Thursday night football games during the year. Oh yeah, that's true.
It's not an Amazon game. So yeah, how bissed is out?
Speaker 2 (06:15):
My?
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Oh no, you know they're gonna give me the crap
ones now after this, Ah, he's like turning off the
television shooting it like Elvis did.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
Right now, the guys, this ain't no good.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
No, that is a very good point, very very good point,
because then we get tomorrow is on Peacock. He's not
part of that broadcast either.
Speaker 5 (06:37):
He didn't go to Brazil. No, no, come on, is it? So?
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Yeah, so he'll get whatever the first of the Thursday games.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Now he got screwed because we chronicled it throughout last season,
about which point in the year he lost his mind
doing those Thursday night games because we used to turn
the volume up during commercial breaks because the saltiness effect.
Like normally, it's like we sit here, like we're in
the Fox Sports radio studios here in Los Angeles. We've
got a number of monitors on and we're watching the
(07:08):
games and watching the alternate feeds. Right when we get
the Manning cast and whatever else. Close captioning is up
and whatever whatever we do, but we've got no sound.
But we went out of our way as the season
won war on, Like, all right, let's listen to Al
for a little bit.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
You know, I'm not getting anything like this all year,
all his friends he's talking to the next couple of days.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
Hell, how you doing see that game?
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (07:29):
What again?
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Did I do it?
Speaker 1 (07:31):
You think I want to talk about this game? You
know what I'm gonna get. I'm gonna get Titans Jaguars.
I'm gonna get games that are sixteen to seven. That's
what I'm gonna get. I'm not gonna get this. Yeah, No,
that's why do I still do it? Why do I
still do it?
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Yeah? It's look, overall, there was a lot to be
desired from this game, right, we talk about the receiving
gors Rashi Rice is gonna be a star Xavier Worthy
if he gets any hint of daylight. You're not catching him.
I do fear that eventually he does get caught and
he gets broken in half. It's not a very stout man. No,
(08:07):
not anybody's fast as all. He's He's basically the flash.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
So there you go.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
We'll bring all the superheroes in that we can. And
Mahomes made his plays, but Checko ran hard and and
gave you some moments. Kelsey was mostly invisible on the
Baltimore side run game except for Lamar Jackson was pedestrian
at best, mostly invisible, and they went away from it,
and then Zay Flowers finished with the six catches for
thirty seven yards.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
He haded after.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Do you think if Isaiah likely had no toes he
would have been no toe?
Speaker 4 (08:39):
No, if we're going back to like old Kicker where
it's got the snub nose, yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Like if they cut his toes off before the game,
does he wear smaller cleats and he maybe? Yeah? Okay,
all right, I'm just saying I mean, no toes.
Speaker 4 (08:54):
I mean sometimes, I mean I don't know that you're
necessarily going to be able to have the same footing
to be able to make that without the toes. No,
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Al Michael's going great.
Speaker 5 (09:04):
They're making toe amputation jokes. I'm not even gonna get that.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
No, you kidno know. I think my first game is
actually Panthers and the Cardinals.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
How do I think I got it twice?
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I think it's back to back weeks. I have Panthers Cardinals.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
They didn't even play in the same division. It doesn't
matter they penalize me.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
No, But look, here's a big point coming out of
this game. Obviously the likely play. We'll talk to Jay
Glazer coming up in about ten minutes, who's got all
the latest making his return with us. Yeah, because his
knuckleheads he did always says that about us. Is that
this is what's amazing for the Chiefs and yet it
is so disheartening for the other thirty one teams. Is
(09:45):
that here's more evidence because last year the Chiefs, it
was an unexpected super Bowl. They were not the best
team in the NFL last year, but they walked away
with the super Bowl because they were able to navigate
the playoffs, navigate the downtimes, and do just enough. This
is not an incredibly talented Chiefs roster offensively, their defense
is very very good, but it was an unexpected Super Bowl.
There were other more talented teams than them that should
(10:08):
have won. Last year roster's more talented. The Niners roster
is more talented. You could argue the Bills roster last
year was more talented, the Eagles roster was more talented,
yet none of those teams won. It's it's it's just
got to hit you between the eyes when you go,
here's week one where I can watch Lamar Jackson play
like it's the middle of the season for him and
(10:31):
still the Chiefs with a B or B minus game,
because that's about what it was. Wasn't an awful game.
It was about a B or A B minus game.
Still win by a touchdown. Yes it's one foot, but
it doesn't matter. There's two columns. There's a win column,
there's a lost column. The Chiefs can still play a
B or B minus game and beat fantastic teams as
(10:52):
a result. That's a tough thing, man, that's a tough
one when you're talking about hopes and dreams for your season. Yeah,
we think we're good. We're loaded up absolutely everywhere we
got we got Pro bowlers everywhere in the defensive line,
we got Pro bowlers at quarterback, we got Pro bowlers,
a wide receiver, we got guys everywhere. What about the Chiefs, Well,
we got a great quarterback and a really good tight
end still, but he's slowing down.
Speaker 8 (11:13):
Eh.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Our offensive line, our running backs, rest of our receivers,
not a lot to write home about. Our defense is
pretty good. Yeah, and we'll still beat you. We'll steak,
We'll still take those gutt misteak. We'll still take those guys,
and we'll beat you. That which lost a rough beginning
of the season for every fan of the other thirty
one teams around the league.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Und but credit to Bagnolo and the defense for being
able to do what they did. And like we're trying
to take both sides of the coin right as we
break down what the Ravens receivers may be over the
course of the year, and Bateman had that big catch
down the stretch to at least give them that shot
at the would be likely touchdown. But the secondary loss
(11:55):
sneed he's in Tennessee, right, he's gonna be covering up
on DJ Moore or whatever this So even with him gone,
you're able to cover that up. And we know the front,
you know, Front seven is going to do the work
just like they did a year ago. Right, That's how
they were able to weather the storm over the course
of the season. Slow start from Rashi Rice and then
(12:16):
he came on in the second half of the season,
and what happened when it was all said and done.
As long as fifteen eighty seven are upright, you're getting
some contribution from the run game, and Isaiah Pacheco has
acquitted himself as a guy that you can trust as
a runner and as a receiver, and now you add
more depth at wide receiver. Yeah, this is the work
(12:38):
in progress, and this is week one and you still
saw explosive plays and opportunities that were missed because Mahomes
missed a couple of them as well, so that it
did have drops. You did have him make a couple
of misses. This is, like I said, it's still a
Beer B minus game. You have to think, Okay, we're
talking about a huge rematch from a year ago in
the playoffs, and and okay, if you have a BAM
(13:00):
minus game and our quarterback has an a game and
he made one mistake, right, the past is a flowers
which we'll get to that. Really, that's what's gonna keep
Ravens fans up nights. But he made one mistake and
other than that, nearly three hundred yards passing one hundred
and twenty yards rushing, and we still lost the game.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
And we still lost. I mean, it's tough for me
as a Jets fan, it's tough for you as a
Bears fan. Stuff for every I mean, I mean not
not the teams that are gonna really stink, like the
Patriots don't care because but everybody else it's just recognition
and how when is this gonna happen?
Speaker 2 (13:28):
When?
Speaker 1 (13:28):
When are they gonna be When are we going to
be able to overcome the Chiefs playing a less than
stellar game against a really good team. Not that not
the times when you play BE or B minus game
against a lower opponent and you say, well, we didn't
play great because we were a little flat, but we
found a way. This was still winning against a team
that we think is still really, really good.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
And the Ravens will be fine and they'll have a
great season. Chiefs, we are a narrow favorite in this one.
Looking at a field goal was spread, so they cover
the number, you get, you eke just to the over
with the twenty finish. So the betters that listened to
us yesterday, if you're listening to us for such things,
(14:08):
then we at least took you over there. But when
we look at the league as a whole, we compare
it back to say the NBA when we watched the
Warriors in series, and there's games where they look uninspired.
Obviously in football it's a one and done scenario in
the playoffs, but I think the comparison is app of
there were times where it's lackluster and then you get
(14:31):
a five minute barrage that gives them the distancing for
the game. Right, even go back to the US men's
Olympic team, if you want to do that, Let's take
Steph Curry and the barrage of three pointers down the stretch.
Were they ahead, sure, but each possession was a grind
and then they blew it wide open with the Chiefs.
So long as those component parts are there for the playoffs,
(14:52):
it's awful hard to pick against them.
Speaker 1 (14:54):
Right.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
It's like Brady and the Patriots. It wasn't always a symphony.
They didn't always look pretty. Hell what it was prettiest.
They didn't win. I mean, they won a lot of games,
but they didn't win all, just like the Warriors in
their seventy three wins balls, but it's it's that kind
of thing where you get your shot. Last year was
(15:15):
the most imperfect of the teams that we've seen during
this dynastic run, and I think we could say that
and here week one, with those wide receivers, it's only
going to get better.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
So good luck exit out about a Fresca exit swollen

The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon
Live from the Tirak dot com studios, where we just
watched a thriller, Isaiah Likely's toe about three inches out
of bounds on the final play the Ravens game tying
touchdown is not a touchdown, and the Chiefs win it
twenty seven to twenty. Joining us now on the hotline,
(17:16):
a man who summed up this game with two words
on social media about a half hour ago.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
Holy Schnikey's nicely done.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
You can follow on Twitter at Jay Glazer NFL on
Fox in Snyder Jay Glazer, who watched this game tonight
with Brett Michaels and a bunch of other people. Jay Glazer,
what's happening, buddy?
Speaker 2 (17:36):
What is that? Brett Michaels and Mike Tomlin's son, Ooh,
Mason Tomlin who is now opening up for Brett Michaels
when Brett goes on the road.
Speaker 5 (17:45):
How about that? Here you go a wow?
Speaker 2 (17:50):
And another guy named Jay Huran who is Raheem Morris's
college roommate, and he's since gone on to win the
Militor Welterwitch Championship of the World fought in the UFC. Now,
he's like every like every time you see a movie
and you need like a drug lord or a guy
in jail or gun member your guy.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
So, I mean, look, there's plenty of movies, TV shows
and you know, just news stories.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
That's the way he watched in my house for me
when I'm gone. So do you want to rob this out?
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Good luck?
Speaker 4 (18:27):
All right?
Speaker 1 (18:27):
So are you guys still hanging out, like, is Brett
Michael still there? I appreciate you taking it.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
I gotta I gotta work. I gotta kick him out.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Get out. I got work to do.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
You kicked out a rock star at nine thirty at night,
like this is when they start their day.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Sorry that I'm working with the now.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
All right, so hey, obviously an unbelievable thriller. First thing
I want to say, if you worked with Isaiah Likely
and Unbreakable, could you get his shoe sized down a
couple where that would have been in bounds?
Speaker 2 (18:56):
No, I think that's the that's kind of breakable living it. No,
it's not a really good brand. And I tell you
what though, it definitely felt like the energy of a
playoff cam, like you're looking at there's certainly look the
chief offense. I mean, this is week one and they're
(19:17):
not even clicking all the cylinders. They're even gonna get better.
They're gonna get Hollywood Brown, Like, I don't know how
you're gonna stop this offense is ridiculous. The Ravens, they're
gonna click better. But I'm just thinking the energy of
the game was so it's so like a playoff cam.
I thought the early calls with Ronnie Still and the
(19:39):
other tackle was cool garbage, if you want to make
a point of it. I didn't really understand it was
really really on the edge there. I thought, you know,
the Ravens got funny gets to get the Chiefs. But
I do, you know, I look at it and go,
will these teams be facing again each other again in
the playoffs? Yeah? I would certainly thinks, you know, for
damn sure you will.
Speaker 5 (19:59):
Yes, you're watch it.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
Jay.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
Obviously, the one man gang that is Lamar Jackson Isaiah
likely comes up monstrous.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
I'm just wondering if.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
I balanced him more. Also, I know Lamar, you know,
he came to this game chip on his shoulder, But man,
you got Derek Henry back there too. I would certainly
start balancing him more. So it's picked your poison. Like,
if you're gonna load up there and try and stop,
you know, Lamar, then Derek's gonna get you. But if
you're gonna sit there loaded against Derek d is just
you know, chugging, then it's gonna open up so many
things for Lamar. But it's just per camp, per camp.
(20:32):
But I think if you get those two guys clicking.
And then again if you want to load up on
those guys and Dave Flower's gonna get you, and then
you know the two tight ends are gonna get you.
Like you know, the Chiefs offense just seem like looks clicking.
Raven's offense once it does click fully where everything's involved
like and the Chiefs difference. I mean, if the Breaknan's
defense did a phenomenal job even though you know the
(20:56):
Mauls is moving that they were moving quickly, Raven's defense
did a phenomenal job against an offense. I just think
it's going to be it's gonna look unstoppable and many
times during the season, you know, and.
Speaker 1 (21:05):
The thing is Jay if you had to say who
was his best player on the field tonight, I don't
know if it was the weight loss, but Lamar Jackson
looked like this was week eight or week nine for
him and he really stood out.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
From that he did on the ground, but there was
also a lot of like a lot of paths that
words just missed. He's got nothing a lot in camp,
a lot of guys who weren't available in camp, and
you could see some of that, you know, especially in
the end zone. There to say flower right, it's wide
open right behind him, and it's likely right before us.
So there were some times that he was off. But
it's like I'm saying, they're gonna gel a lot better.
(21:37):
But he was the guy that he's a you know,
he's a human Joys sext prediction. He's definitely you know,
video game esque. But everybody test to stand the route.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
It's a hell of a huge Lamar got huge.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
But you know, I think with somebody like him, because
you have to improvise so much, you gotta do it
x you got to do a lot more work with him.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
No, And that's just it right timing and we were wondering,
you know, receiving core, you've got Flowers and you got
the tight end whether you have that extra guy and
then Bateman makes that catch down the stretch, Like all right,
maybe timing there, Uh, that'll get better, but it remains
to be seen.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
Yeah, I think, like I said, I think if you
start loosening up the defense too with Derrick Henry a
lot more than those who open themselves up even more.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
All right, now, Jay, away from this game, I gotta
think you got some kind of insight infro from Mike
tomlin Son on what's going on with Russell Wilson as
CAF injury and just.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Talking about Sunday.
Speaker 5 (22:35):
That's a tease.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
That's a tease for Jay's block as the NFL on
Fox return.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
The Family returns again.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
All right, So without the inside info from Mike tomlin Son.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Hey, no, no, no, I don't know. I don't know
how Wilse was gonna wake up tomorrow. I've toured my calf.
It's awful, but it also just always grabs. I don't know.
But even Russell Gough was also guy, we're gonna play
both quarterbacks at least have the plan. We'll see what
happened going into the game, and the plan is to
get both from out there. But yeah, I can't. I
(23:12):
can't answer because I don't know if he's gonna it's
gonna he's a wake up tomorrow and it's to be
locked up or he's gonna do you know, whatever the
treatment they're doing it works. I can't tell you that Thursday.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
There you go asked and answered do you want? You
wanted more? Russell went good time.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
I'm going to look at that video that Jay put
up of Brett Michaels and Mike, Tom. I'm gonna see,
like how Tomlinson is sitting on the couch if I
can get a clue from there, just something from there
for Sunday.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
I'll nod your head if you want to give me
a little bit of love to go through that. So, Jay,
as as you did your training camp tour and now
you have that that last minute, you know, getting ready
to be back with the family.
Speaker 5 (23:47):
You guys on set, you did the stuff.
Speaker 4 (23:49):
Uh, you know the retreat that that happens every year,
the Fox family getting back together. What's that moment like
after being away from each other for those months?
Speaker 2 (23:57):
Oh man, he's got in my family. He's my twenty
first year and you know how wee trry their thirty
first and Kurt's nineteenth and Straight seventeenth. And now we
get this rookie who was ever heard of? It is
coming chewing ups up working or something. But it's like,
but even him, he is like tap Day, like we've
(24:18):
all known him for a long time. But Nanty sits
like Tom fits. Our our crew are crazy and but
we're we're away from each other for so long. Yeah, guys,
we're like we all get together right after the draft.
You know, we get together obviously, and that's just us
like our pregame show and our age crew get together
(24:38):
and we go away. We go to Vegas, we go
to the Bahamas. We're also like I said, we're we're best
man at each other's weddings. There's no a lot of
suits and weddings. There is, Uh, We're got the godfathers
of each other's kids. We spend most holidays together like
we are. We've just spent Thanksgiving and Christmas and like
everything together. I can't get them enjoy me for young Ki,
(25:00):
but that'll change. But it really is the most special family.
And like, man, I've talked to you guys how much
I need my team between my ears, and they make
it so much better for me. It's so much better
when I'm around my crew. Man. We're we're all getting
together tomorrow night for dinner. Like we just can't wait now.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Because this is the first time we talked to you
since you got married. To give me the one biggest
thing you've learned in the last few months since your
what what's the one non football, one biggest relationship wedding
marriage thing you've learned the last few months?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Oh, date your wife date your wife, like benk she's
your best friend, you marry you to them for a reason,
like she's right there. You got your best friend to
go out with every night, date her. And but I
also I never, I never thought it would happened for me,
and I did so much work. And it's the other
thing is never too late to find love. You got
(25:55):
to do the work on yourself when you are alone,
is to present the best person you're know, to be
available when you're when you're ready. I thought I was
ready all these years, but I was, and I sabotaged
everything because I didn't think I was worthy of it.
And that's what my you know, my mental health stuff
always told me. So I either chose people that I
knew it wouldn't work out with. If something was good,
I would sabotage it because I knew would end at
(26:17):
some point, and I would I would just the pain
for me of what it was going to end. Living
in question was harder for me than attended, so I
would speed up the end. And I don't got to
do that. And my wife was a she is a man.
She's a walking throughs act. She is incredible, and I
never knew I could I was literally texting Stray and today, Man,
(26:39):
the best training camp ever had in my life because
I did everything this camp, and I did a really camp.
Like I go to these camps. I got my own
set of rules, I work out in the teams, I
got I eat. I'll go eat with them and do
my how dream. You know, I looked at them. I
do everything, but everybody could tell like it was like
the way that the world's off my shoulders because the
first time in my life, I'm like, yeah, I'm I
(27:00):
deserve to be loved. I just never felt it till now.
And I'm able to like tell my wife when I
have my meltdown, this is what I need and she
does it. She's like, I'm I going to nowhere. I
got you back. And man, I'm a different I don't
say I'm a different guy, but I have different motions
in different levels of joy that I ever knew I
could I could ever achieve in my life because I
(27:22):
did the work. So do the work.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
The unmistakable voice our friend, longtime family member here positivity
radiating through the microphone. Unbreakable performance mental health warrior, founder
of MVP, obviously Fox NFL Sunday you've seen him acting.
He posted the picture of himself with hair from the
press booth. It's our guy, Jay Glazer at Jay Glazer
(27:45):
with Jason Smith and Mike Carbin here Fox Sports Radio.
So Jay, so all the camp stuff, the usual shenanigans
and stories and pranks and all. Who are the teams
or individuals that impressed you most.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Back? Man? Oh my god, man, it was forty one days.
I've been gone. Yeah, I can't think. Well, I could
tell cultures, so okay, you know culture. Look, look I
went and spent family, the Chiefe and them and know
they Andy read. I went to dinner and went to
walk through with him and most teams when they are
(28:21):
like winning guys of the Patriots on their rumble. When
teams win, it's it's hard to always go back and
everybody comes in. It's like I'm the reason we want.
I'm the reason that that. And it's hypodergent. Man. They
it's like, hey, it's a business trip. It really is
like and they and Andy lets him have fun and
he's like your favorite uncle. You don't want at this
point that culture is great. The two cultures of violence
(28:45):
are around where the Steelers and the Ravens. Their cultures
are violence. It's still a violent game and they're the
most violent culture. I tell you who else I think
is gonna have a huge year as Jalen Carter with
Philly and this is going to be Goofspan. He is
going to be right up there this year and he
has the potential to have a Christians type of year.
(29:06):
Trying to think who else? Man, that's a lot of
drunken nice man, you guys.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
I know, buddy, I forget about everything I learned. It's
a few hours before he's got notes.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
I'll tell you the other thing too, probably the week
before from Fannounce Phone Nicks and the Starter, I went
out there and there against Green Bay for a day
and I went out there for a day and a
half and literally the first day I'm like, Sew, this
kid is not a kid like this dude's the dude Like,
oh my god, He's like and dwy Sean talk is
like buddy, trust me, buddy, He's like it's like, oh
(29:44):
my god, like and it was like this dude is man,
he is not a rookie. HiT's like I felt like
just his presence and this guy had been in that
locker room for ten years, so that was pretty cool
to see also, and then you know what, through the Bears.
I do like Bears. I love how taylorm is like
(30:05):
Caleb's presence over there all self. He is, yeah, thinks
about everybody's thoughtful, like no one really knows the guy.
So everybody has these stories that they're just lobbing up
there because you don't he really cares. But his teammates
freaking love him. The coaches love front office loves him.
So I think I think the Bear is gonna be
a pretty damn up team.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer, that is at Jay Glazer, Jay,
welcome back for another year. Congratulations on your happiness. Nobody
deserves it more than you.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Now.
Speaker 5 (30:35):
Now this still means Howie Long is still your.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Uber driver right well now I'm in California. When he's
over here in California, I still make him do some choice.
Speaker 4 (30:44):
Okay, good good, Some things have to stay tradition.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
He's like, he's my instacart now, nice something brought over to.
Speaker 5 (30:59):
See you, buddy, have went at dinner tomorrow night.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
The legend Returnslaer incomparable.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Howie Long Instacart. That's what it is.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
It's good when the family gets back together. I mean,
Jay's been part of the show since we started, so
very excited to get him back in the mix.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
And what a great story about his wedding and how
he feels in their relationship. And it was just an awesome,
awesome thing.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
There no just a lot of light, a lot of positivity, unbreakable.
Download it wherever you get podcasts. He's got one working out.
He and I and Michaels have a podcast they're brewing
up too.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
It's gonna be the Every Rose has Its Thorn podcast.
Oh wow, I think or the or the Talk Dirty
to Me podcast. Well, I think I'd rather listen to
that one. Well, I think you get a lot of
hits immediately. This wasn't what I expected. Doesn't matter. You've
already downloaded. You committed right now. A guy who owns
every Poison album on finyl. It's Steve de Sager with
(31:51):
what's trending. I have no comeback for that. I got
a little bit the cat dragged in.
Speaker 8 (31:57):
I went up and say, you already had the sticks
reference early in the show. I think that took care
of all our vinyl here. I actually have all the
Poison albums on vinyl. That's me the Poison Podcast. There
you go, Kansas City. What a thrilling NFL season opener
over Baltimore twenty seven to twenty And you know, it
was thrilling to see Lamar Jackson with the scrambling and
(32:18):
he had sixteen carries one hundred and twenty two yards.
But the man, the man scrambled on twenty percent of
his dropbacks tonight.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Ye.
Speaker 8 (32:28):
That is the third highest rate for him in his
last four seasons. And how often do experts in this
sport say an NFL quarterback for all the athleticism, And
it's great to see that has come into that position
in the NFL. At some point you're gonna have to
be a traditional quarterback and make a throw for your
team to win. And he flat missed an open receiver
(32:50):
in the end zone late in the game and they
lost twenty seven to twenty. And yes, Isaiah Likely on
the final play of the game had his toe out
of the back of the end zone what would have
been a touchdown reception. Ravens lose on the road. Likely
did have nine receptions one hundred eleven yards. But Baltimore
on red zone Tds one for four, including zero for
(33:12):
two and gold to go situations. Chiefs rookie Xavier worried
Worthy thank you very much. Buffalo Bills had two touchdowns
twenty one yard run in the first half and a
thirty five yard touchdown catch. Xavier Worthy had three touches
in this game. Three and Kansas City is one to
zero and the Chiefs today gave backup tight and Noah
(33:33):
Gray a three year extension. Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson was
limited in practice with calf tightness. Forty nine Ers running
back Christian McCaffrey was limited with a calf injury. As
for the US Open women's semifinals were in New York tonight,
wins for Arena Sablenka and Jessica Pagoula. Two WNBA games
wins for New York and Washington. Alex Morgan is retiring
(33:54):
from soccer. Her final match will be Sunday night with
San Diego. In San Diego tonight, Detroit's one from the
Padres four to three on a Grand Slam with two
outs in the ninth so the Idol Dodgers first place
in the n West, now five games over the Padres.
Diamondbacks five and a half back after Arizona gave up
a run bottom of the ninth losing three to two
at San Francisco. Colorado won at Atlanta three to one,
(34:18):
So the Mets, who are idle tonight but have won
seven in a row, are now tied with Atlanta for
the final NL wildcard spot. Philly's won their fifth straight
five to two at Miami.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O. Coming up next,
we got more from this game. If you think the
Isaiah Likely touchdown is going to be the play the
Ravens rue the most ravensoh done. That is not gonna
be the play that keeps everybody up at night?
Speaker 2 (34:43):
What is?
Speaker 1 (34:43):
We'll play it for you next right here, Jason and
Mike Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith
Show with my bass friend Mike Harmon, live from the
Tirack dot Com studios. Now we're gonna hear from Lamar Jackson.
Come up in a little bit. We're all still buzzing
over the end of the Chiefs and the Ravens fourth
(35:08):
down play. On the final play of the game from
the ten yard line, Lamar Jackson buys time, finds Isaiah
Likely in the back of the end zone. He comes
down with a touchdown. However, on further review, Isaiah Likely's
foot and about three inches of his foot is clearly
out of bounds. The touchdown is overturned and the Chiefs
(35:28):
win it by the final of twenty seven to twenty.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Can't wait to hear from Lamar Jackson because evidently he's
also given an explanation on what he saw on the
play that has been dissected before that the incompletion to
Flowers that he's got an explanation that you're gonna want
to hear.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Now, that's the thing is that if you think this
is the play that's gonna keep Ravens fans up night,
So everybody's gonna look at Obviously, yes, a big play
on fourth down likely comes down he's just out of bounds.
That happens, right, if he came down with if his
foot was a foot what was ten inches further in
those plays happen because you're talking about a desperation play
(36:09):
on fourth down and Laar Jackson bought as much time
as he could. Likely who hey, the best news looks
like he's a huge dude, now, uh at a big
night almost was even bigger with that with that second touchdown.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
He also survived that play that looked like he might
have been hurt. Yeah, he was laying down and holding.
Speaker 5 (36:26):
Yeah, when's he gonna come back?
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Like he's back on the next play, just like after
he threw up and got back out of a veal.
So you think that's the play that Chiefs fan that
that Ravens fans were saying, Oh man, that's the play.
I can't believe that if got if his toe was
just a little bit. No, no, that's not the play.
It's the play before that's gonna keep everybody up at
night because this is the one that should have been
(36:49):
a touchdown. Looking for Za Flowers TNF. There's a night
football on the call, looking for Jay Flowers, who would
come open in the middle of the end zone. Lamar
Jackson was kind of rolling to his right a little bit.
(37:10):
Jay Flowers was also coming to his right, but Lamar
Jackson's throw behind Flowers missed him by a few feet.
You watch the replay, you see that Flowers is open there,
there's nobody with five yards on either side of them.
They kind of look at each other and smile, and
that's the play that would keep me up night. Not
not the the play at deal with likely boy that
sucks and all the toe jokes. You're gonna have to
(37:32):
go through my Rex. Ryan's gonna have a field day
breaking this game. But the play is that, because that's
the play you just can't miss.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Well, you're ready for the explanation here. You just can't
miss that play because our old buddy Bateman comes in
on this one again Justine Bateman. No oh, okay, Rashad Bateman,
Jase Bateman made a big catch earlier. Is Cordell Woodland,
who does work over at one O five seven the
fan in Baltimore, one of the colleagues for our guy
(38:03):
Jason locking for him. Here's what he tweeted out. Lamar
said his incomplete pass in the end zone that looked
like it was intended for Zay was actually intended for Bateman.
He thought Bateman was going to stop. Wow, that's a
that's a big miss. That's a big either way, it's
a monster miss. Wherever the intention was, whatever, whatever we
(38:25):
were looking for, because obviously we had the play earlier
in the game without Agalore who didn't block for Ze
Flowers on what was a big play and at the
time a bit of a gamble by the Ravens. But
for this one anyway you dice it up, you know,
it's the play the one that got away in a
game comes down to a couple of inches.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
I mean, he has to throw the ball because it's
collapsing behind him. He's look, he's got a great sense
of when to get rid of the ball and he
had to so he had to throw it. But you
see the play on the replay, Yeah, and that's where
Bateman was and it's like ze, but it's like he
didn't sees a Flowers, right, And I'm like, how do
you not see him? Because he's about ten yards away, right,
He's about ten yards away and he's there's no there's
(39:11):
no defenders in front of you. He's he's run to
the side, like Flowers is right there, and he's he's
just sitting in the middle of the field. I don't
know how you didn't see him. And for the guy
who played a great game, because Lamar Jackson played a
great game. Again, it looked like Week eight for Lamar Jackson,
Like you can't miss that play. You can't miss that
play against the champions at home, Like that's you. I mean,
(39:33):
I know it's kind of elementary to say it, but
when you have a guy, you don't get second chances
like that. That's like missing a penalty in soccer. Show
me a team that misses a penalty in soccer, and
I'll show you a team that loses a game. Show
me a team that misses a wide open pass for
a touchdown. I'll show you a team that loses a game.
Like that's something that even even though you're it's it's
week one, it's he's got to see that.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
He's yeah, I mean, I'd love to see from his perspective.
This is why we need every one of the two.
We keep adding more elements and more viewing angles. I
need helmet cam from the quarterback. I don't need the audio.
You can keep the audio, give me the visual. Did
he see the five foot nine Za Flowers?
Speaker 1 (40:13):
And honestly, I don't know that you could say he
thought Bateman was gonna stop because that's not where that
how that play went out, right, Like, I don't know
that that. I don't know the explanation. I believe I
really don't know that. I believe that because seeing how
the play went, that's that that does not describe this
play either way.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
He threw him under the book. Man Alte took some
accountability for the miscommunication, as it were, But yeah, very difficult.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
We have all kinds of drama to keep going on
here more and Lamar Jackson more in the big question
about Patrick Mahomes after this game? Wait what Yeah, that's
coming up next right here, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio, Like,
what do you mean?
Speaker 2 (40:55):
I thought
