Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this part.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Yes sir, yes sir, Yes sir, yes sir. You're the man.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
Jason Smith and his best friend Mike Harmon are off
tonight enjoying some great time with the family. I'm pretty
sure nice and full recover from thansgaving last night and
having a real laid back, chill black Friday. You got
the benches in tonight, man VJ. Vernon Husky and Arnie
Spaniard and bringing it to you from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. Arnie, let's continue with the rivalry games man.

(00:55):
We were just talking about Michigan Ohio State. You have
Ohio State covering. I'm definitely telling all the betters out
there take the nine and a half from Michigan. It's
in Michigan. If this game was at Ohio State. I
might feel slightly different about it. Last year I told
people were gonna go in there and stop the run,
and we're gonna beat them up the middle and beat
them on the line of scrimmage. And that's exactly what happened.
Bernie actually brought me on the show Saturday night to

(01:18):
give me my flowers and let me take my victory
lat because I told them Saturday, his late show Saturay night,
going in Saturday morning, what exactly how that game was
gonna play on it did? I think the same thing happens.
But I just think it's more about coaching. Sharon Moore,
what do you what do.

Speaker 5 (01:31):
You consider a good coach?

Speaker 4 (01:33):
I mean, what not Ryan? I didn't say what in
a good coach? I said, he's a good coach.

Speaker 6 (01:38):
I'll just say, what do you consider a good coach?

Speaker 5 (01:42):
I'm just saying.

Speaker 6 (01:43):
You know, when they say, VJ, how did you do
in high school? You can't say, well, I did good
because the teachers like me. You have to tell me
your grades. Did you get an A, B C? Did you
have a two oh three oh four?

Speaker 2 (01:55):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (01:55):
And I got to judge you by that, Well, how
do you judge coaches, whether they're good or not. Do
you go my wins losses? Do you go by top
twenty five wins? That's top dead wins, top five.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Part of it.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
But do you elevate the team that you have around
you as the more thing we're coaching? Do you elevate
the team that you have around you?

Speaker 7 (02:14):
Like?

Speaker 6 (02:15):
How could Ryan they not could considered an elite coach
when he elevated Ohio State? He won a championship and
he's eighty one in ten? He didn't high they won
a championship.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
I don't care.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
They won that championship last year. That's not elevating. They
had all the town. They should have won it last year, right,
Who didn't they beat them? Well, they elevated him to
a champ Who ain't they?

Speaker 3 (02:34):
But he did?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
You do you think he coached them to that championship?

Speaker 6 (02:36):
Loll If we're not going to give him credit for that,
then what are we do? We're gonna give him credit
for when things go bad? He's also eighty.

Speaker 5 (02:43):
One and ten? What would have been better? Ninety and oh?
Ninety one? And oh?

Speaker 6 (02:46):
I mean, I think he gets a really bad rap
because of the losses to Michigan that.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
He's going to be though. That's the way it is,
John Cooper, let me talk you remember John Cooper? Yes, okay,
John Cooper, I think lost twelve games something like that.
I think it was only twelve thirteen games you did, and
you have to compete your fronty if you.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Can pull it up. But like seven of those losses
where it gets Michigan, right, Okay.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
So that's a bad why coaches, that's why he got
and that's why he got five. I didn't say he
was a bad coach too. I just don't think he's
a great. I think he's a good coach. Why can't
you take that I'm good? I said he's good.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Great.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
My thing is is I'd rather lose to my rival
and win the championship.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Than beat my rid. You are you are you taking
that from the book of Nick Saban. I don't I
think that.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
You know you don't buy into that.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
No, I really know you'd rather just.

Speaker 5 (03:34):
Beat Ohio State than win the championship.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
No.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
I won a championship, but it's all.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
But I wasn't the coach that came out in the
seventies and said you can't claim a national championship if
you don't.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
Win the game.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
What he hates said that no one else said. He's
the one that put that out there. It wasn a
hundred year ago. But that's why I looked at last year.
That's why I look at last year's championship. Don't care
how long it was ago. If I look at last
year's championship, think of it. When those guys, when those
seniors from last year's team going with their lives, they
could say, yeah, we won it all in twenty twenty four.

(04:08):
You know what they can't say, though, which is what
they're gonna be remembered by Shay real talk. What can't
they say that they're gonna be remembered by twenty years
from now? They didn't beat Michigan. Let's stop acting like that.
That's not the barometer.

Speaker 6 (04:22):
No, but that's a personal note that they didn't beat Michigan,
just like Georgia players, if they didn't beat Georgia Tech, do'ts.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Let me ask you a question.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
If he loses this game tomorrow, right and they get
knocked Yes, if Ryan they lose when he loses tomorrow
and say they get knocked out early in the college
football playoff and Ohio State says, Okay, you know what, Yeah,
you did win it all, but bro, five in a row,
you can't beat Michigan goodbye.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
That's why he would.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
And no one would and no one would care about
the twenty twenty four championship.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
No one would give a damn about.

Speaker 5 (04:55):
I don't think they would do that though.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Let me ask you this I just said, is no
one would say about the twenty twenty four championship. It
will all be about he lost five straight times to Michigan.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
That's what it would be about.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
Well, Sark was number one and he's fighting to get
into the playoffs right now.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
So what does that have to do. I'm sorry, I'm
lock because.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
Well, nobody's asking for his job on the line just
because he had high expectations.

Speaker 4 (05:21):
Yeah, but he doesn't have a Michigan Ohio state rivalry game.
You know, he doesn't have that game, does Yeah? Texas
Oklahoma is not Michigan Ohio State. It's just not we
know that. Yeah, but we're not talking about the fan base.
We're just the scope of it all. If he loses
this fifth game, man, and maybe they don't fire him, fine,
But if he loses fifth straight game and they get

(05:41):
knocked out early in the playoffs. No one's gonna care
about the twenty twenty four championship they won against Nordre Dame,
which is a game I still have not watched to
this day. Self explanatory. If you know how fandom in
college football goes. I still not to this day, Arnie,
have watched the Ohio State Nordre Dame National championsh game
from last year. I have not watched one second. I

(06:02):
can't tell you anything that happened in that game.

Speaker 6 (06:05):
Well, you're only as good as your last game, coaching, So.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
We're gonna find out. We're gonna find out tomorrow, all right,
iron Ball, how do you like this?

Speaker 2 (06:13):
Is this?

Speaker 4 (06:13):
Is this an easy walk for Alabama? Does Auburn have
a shot at all because it's a rivalry game? Or
does Alabama now see that they're laid out for the
SEC championship game and they're gonna walk and they're gonna
walk through Arburn tomorrow. Do you think a five and
six arbur team at home at home, a five and
six arbit team looks personally five and a half points. No,

(06:34):
it's not, you know, it's not. It's not crazy. Ours
Vegas just trying to suck with some people in here.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
I didn't understand why it was so low.

Speaker 6 (06:40):
Obviously they're putting a lot of value in that home
field advantage. They're giving him more than three points. I
would think, uh, it should have been more like eight
or nine. If this was a neutral site game, that's
probably what it would be. Alabama the much better team.
They've played much better of late. I don't see how
you can now take Alabama, especially baus the numbers under seven.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
I think they win this game. They win it easily.
They're also a.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
Better defensive team. I just don't know how they came
up with that five and halves spread. The numbers also
low on the total, so it shows you they don't
expect a lot of scoring.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
So I got to go with Alabama and lay the
points here.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Yeah, I agree with you. I think Bama should win.
But I will tell you this, they they have no
room for Era. They turn this ball over. Their quarterbacks
starts throwing interceptions all over the field like he did
against Oklahoma. They're gonna be in trouble. And now if
they're at home, I think this is a wash. But
I do believe in rivaly games. Home field advantage does

(07:38):
mean something.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
You know.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
From time to time, not always, but from time to time,
you get a lower ranked team with four or five
losses in a rivalry game playing at home.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
You got nothing like, what does Auburn have to lose? First?

Speaker 4 (07:49):
They playing for their bold life right now, right if
they get the six one, someone's gonna give them an invite.
They'll be playing in the pinstrip new era ball at
some baseball stadium. They won't even be good enough to
go to a football field and play. They have to
playing some baseball stadium a game that nobody, honestly, nobody
might get three four million viewers to watch that game
because football doesn't outrank everything else as far as viewership.

(08:09):
But if Alabama doesn't turn the ball over, run the
ball effectively, and their quarterback doesn't throw the ball all over.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
The field, this this should be an easy one and
they should cover. I see where the five and a
half is.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
And that's because we've seen Alabama's got two losses, okay,
and we've seen them throw. We've seen them turn the
ball over. When you turn the ball over once again
on the road in a robbery game, it can it
can it can?

Speaker 5 (08:30):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (08:31):
You know it can spell it can spell doom. For
I usually have to.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
Say mindset as you if you're at home, you got
the home team, they've got five or six wins trying
to pull off the upset. But if you look at
what happened today, Arizona State they lost at home, Georgia Tech,
they go lost it well neutral site, but they lost
Mississippi State. They lost it home and they pretty much
got beaten up by Mississippi.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
So so somebody then somebody, Hey, one of these home
teams got.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
To do it. Then, right, maybe it's got to be mischief.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Yeah, you know where you see where I was leading you, rightboy,
But one of these whole teams got to do it.

Speaker 6 (09:06):
You know, I don't put a lot of stock into
that seg. Well, eventually somebody's gonna do it.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
Maybe it'll be a team. We're not paying attention.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
To happens everything.

Speaker 6 (09:14):
But it'll be curious to see if Ohio State does
go a little conservative in the play calling. That's what
I thought they did the last couple of years. I
don't think they're gonna do that again this year.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
Though, Vanny and Tennessee, this is only two and a
half points. You got a nine to two Vandy team.
They coach got an extension today, well deserved. Like I
don't think ever in my life, ever in my life,
that Vanderbilt meant anything in college football. Jul years, they
didn't mean nothing to college football. Jacunn year, color was
just a little splash guy. But it wasn't but it

(09:46):
wasn't sustainable. Like you said, one year, that don't mean nothing.
I remember when Darnell Alltree was running well for Northwestern?
Did that make us pay attention to Northwestern? To No,
it was like, Okay, they got a running back this
one little year here, not no problem. They can put
up forty fifty points a game and they still ended
up with four or five losses. But does Vandy team
against Tennessee Josh Heipel, you know, he was the guy

(10:06):
who was supposed to come in there with Tennessee and
really put them back on the map.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
I'm not sure if they're back fully.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
The Hindon Hooker year kind of messed everything up because
he the kid gets hurt, right, He's like he might
be on his way to the Heisman that year he
gets hurt.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
It just feels like like eight and three.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
If they lose this one, you go to eight and four,
but even at nine and three, you start to look
at Joshipelis say, hey, man, you know this is Tennessee.
This is rocky top one hundred thousand plus stadium. We
need better than nine and three. Brother, Like we I
know we're in the SEC. We're trying to compete. Dude,
does Vanderbilt have a shot at going in here and
pulling this upset off? I'm trying to figure out how
Vanderbilt is the underdog at nine to two. I know

(10:44):
you're right about that. They're actually the better team. If
this was at the neutral site.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
They would be Tennessee light favorite.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Yeah, they would be the sight favorite.

Speaker 6 (10:50):
If they were playing at home, they'd probably be like
a four point favorite in this one. I love the
way Vanderbilt played. They had that tough loss to Texas.
They don't lose that game. They come in with a
five game winning streak. Alabama did do a good job
against them and saw that game. Alabama put the claps
on them offensively, but this is a good offensive team
with Vanderbilt, Tennessee is gonna have their hands fall. I

(11:12):
think it's gonna be a high scoring game. I'm gonna
go with Vanderbilt with the upset, not much of an upset.
Like you said, they're only a two and that poin
an underdog. It's gonna be tough to go into Tennessee
and win it. But I like Vanderbilt this one.

Speaker 5 (11:22):
I'm gonna go with them.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Best choice to upset and throw a wrench into this
college football playoff. Washington and home against Oregon, LSU on
the road against Oklahoma, virgin West, Virginia at home against
Texas Tech, or Michigan at home against Ohio State.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
I don't think it's yeah, I don't think it's the
Texas Tech game.

Speaker 6 (11:44):
So I'm gonna forget about that. Washington, perhaps maybe against Oregon.
They're under a touchdown underdog. It's under the magic number
of seven. Washington's a good team. Oregon has struggled to
see them last week offensively Washington, Yeah, uh yeah, let
me see that, man like it's hear.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
I don't know if they're against USC, I don't get there, no, no,
just how they came out here against UCLA.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
They put up that forty eight they you know, put
it that forty eight fourteen ere.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
They put it at foty a fourteen, and I think
people's like, Okay, Washington the week before that they beat Purdued,
Like these are bad teams they're beating. But then they
go out to Wisconsin and put up ten points.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
You know, Ian.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Wisconsin's not a very good team, but they've gotten better
of late.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
They know he could put up seven points on the
board in Michigan.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
I was back on October eighteenth, where, honestly, Michigan was
still trying to get their wheels after the Oklahoma and
the USC losses on the road.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I look at this Washington team.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
I know it's the game you're picking, but I honestly
I think Oregon rolls through Washington.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
Washington played both If you look at this, Washington played
both the Ohio State and Michigan exactly the same right,
both losses, and both pretty much by almost the identical
score too.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
So yeah, I think I think Oregon rolled to them tomorrow. Man,
I don't think they gotta I don't. I don't think
they got a shot man quick off the jasiebar. What
do you think about Indiana? I've not asked you about
them or talked to you about them at all, but
here they are twelve and oh nine, and oh they're
gonna go playing the Big Ten championship game. It's either
gonna be against Oregon Ohio State, depended upon what Ohio

(13:20):
State and uh it happens in o High State Michigan
once will excuse me once Ohio State loses to the
Michigan tomorrow. But this Indiana team, we asked the question
about some of these NFL teams, do you believe in them?

Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Do you believe in the coach? Do you believe in
the Bears, you believe in the Patriots? But we don't
really do that in college yet. And I'm still trying
to figure out this Indiana team. Are you in on them?

Speaker 5 (13:39):
Oh? Yeah, absolutely, I'm all in on here.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
They have a legitimate shot, to you now, a legitimate
shot they're gonna win it all.

Speaker 5 (13:45):
Yeah. I think they'll be like the second favorite.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Really.

Speaker 6 (13:48):
I think Signetti has just been a great coach. You know,
people said this is Lake and gif Jam, you can't,
you can't, can't win it in Mississippi. Well look what
these stud out there in Indiana.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
Big ten baby, Yeah, I mean, mikee come on, it
is but I mean that program too. The last two years,
last three years, compared to where it used to be.
That's how you do it.

Speaker 6 (14:11):
I mean, he doesn't have the money that the Michigan's
and the Ohio States have. Let's be honest on that.
So he right now he would be yeah, yeah, because
he did right now.

Speaker 4 (14:24):
He elevated the team and his coach and elevate the
program and elevate the team.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
Right even, but they don't have any championships to show
for it.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Very very That's what I'm asking That's what I'm asking
about him.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
No, But I mean, just because you know, you're talking
about a guy that's an elite college coach. That doesn't
make Ryan Day any less elite than what he is
right now, especially because he's eighty one and ten. But
I like Indiana. I think they're like the second favorite
or the third favorite, maybe maybe the second favorite. But yeah,
they have a legitimate chance and they're they're a real team.

(14:54):
I mean, Mike Goodness spend. They've they've played every look
they I know, the Penn State game wasn't tough, and
the schedules certainly in their favor, but.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
They did beat Oregon, and they.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Did they went to Allison and beat them by ten.
They didn't just beat him.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
They went up there and punched them in the mouth
and really and after ry it does. But it's tough, no, no, no,
I see, I'm not gonna do that. Struggled against Iowa.
That is a I don't care what kind of year
they're having. That's just one place you just don't want
to go play Michigan. I would maybe this seven years ago.
Remember that Saturday night game they go in there and

(15:29):
wasn't nineteen eighteen. Wilton Spate hurts his neck in warm
ups and it's out of the game and harb Ball's
got to play his back up and they drive down.
I think they kicked the field goal nineteen eighteen on
a Saturday night when they weren't that good of a team,
and Michigan went in there that believe eight and oh
or nine to zero. Iowa is a tough place with
Kurt Farns there to go win a football game.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
So but they got it done. They won twenty to
fifteen that week. They got it done.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
They put sixty three up on Illinois when Illinois was
the ninth ranked team. They were ranked nineteenth in the
end of that is when they went into that game.
We want to talk about the seventy three points that
they threw up on I don't even know who.

Speaker 6 (16:03):
So they beat them up on Indy Anita State. But
I didn't get tested much. Let's just say that. I
think that's fair to say that they've not been tested
a whole.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
But they didn't play Ohio State, they didn't play Michigan
this year, So play the perfect storm.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I was about to.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
Say, I can't blame that, because when if you want
power conferences, which I do, if you want these big
power conferences, I don't care if it's twenty teams, I don't.
But in certain years, you're going to a blame them.

Speaker 5 (16:29):
Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
I can't.

Speaker 2 (16:29):
You could, you can't. They didn't make the schedule.

Speaker 4 (16:32):
Just certain years just kind of goes into your favorite
You don't have to play this team. You don't have
to Penn State. Penn State didn't have to play Michigan
this year. It didn't matter. They weren't that good and
we saw that and once they once the bottom fell
out there.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
But Michigan, Ohio State's gonna play everything every year.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
They should.

Speaker 4 (16:46):
They should, even if they separated conferences, you still you
still can keep these games.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
You know what, I'm saying, you don't have to break these.

Speaker 6 (16:52):
I don't know if you can still keep the game.
It's so tough, like they want to break off the
USC No Tree Dame game.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
How about that? That was a that's been a lot time.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
It's crazy.

Speaker 4 (17:01):
During our rivalry segment, we need none of us, neither
one of us are shade. None of us mentioned that game.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
No, but it used to be a great rob used
to be. That's the thing used to be.

Speaker 4 (17:10):
Right now, it's I mean, if you had to put
it with it still make your Yeah, it make your
college top ten Okay, never mind, it wouldn't make it
wouldn't make your college top five football rivalies right now?

Speaker 5 (17:19):
Probably not, But we still all tune in for this. Yes,
this year, would we know USC team?

Speaker 2 (17:25):
You and I will.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
This is what we do for a living, man, We
watch sports like record wise, we watched sports and old
TV shows about white basketball players that break their legs
and go be coaching. Oh man, all right, man, when
we come back, go talk some NFL. We'll just get
to a few games. Are any thinks it's a crap weekend?
I'm gonna play back Coop. I'm excuse me, He's bad cop.

(17:46):
I'm gonna play good cop. I think there's some storylines
in these games where we don't look at the record.
There's a lot going on in some of these games.
We'll touch that man before we get to another update
with the saga and finish the wrap the show up
great three and I have all Moss hours Man and

Friday Night to Black Friday. A lot of people will

(19:41):
be listening.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
To radio tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
A lot of other shows will, including my own, will
be going and on college football leading into the end
Zone Show Here ten am one pm East Coast time
on Sunday for our End Zone Show. But last night
you told me that this is a bunch of stinkers.
Vj's a bunch of stinkers, and I'm thought, man, I'm
looking at some of these games, and there's some there's
some great questions of storylines, especially what happened yesterday with

(20:04):
those three games, what happened today with the Bears and
the Eagles, and it kind.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Of sets up for a little good Cop, Bad cop.

Speaker 4 (20:11):
There's one terrible game that means absolutely nothing that I
can look at and see right now. But I'll let
you go, man, pick a game and tell me why
it's so bad, and I'm gonna try. I'm gonna try
to tell you. No, man, there's something here to be seen.
You gotta tune in and watch this one.

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Well, you can always come up with a storyline, But
Saints Dolphins really have no meaning. Dolphins have less than
one percent.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
I'm a Dolphins fan, so I'm not agreeing with that.
I'm watching that.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
Other than being a fan of the team. That's an
obvious one.

Speaker 6 (20:36):
But the Dolphins have a less than one percent chance
of making the playoffs. The Saints aren't making the playoffs,
so unless you're a fan of either one of those teams,
nothing really at stake. No really great storylines here.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
Oh really.

Speaker 4 (20:50):
Not McDaniel getting fired, not all.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
I don't think McDaniel's getting fired.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
I think they're gonna go ahead and stand it for
three months.

Speaker 5 (20:57):
Job.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
I think they're playing hard enough now over the three
to four games. If they continue like this, I expect
they do. I think they are going to save his job.
I think they'll bring back everybody one more year. But overall,
I don't see I don't see anybody really watching this
game if they don't have to, right, compared to all
the other games that will be on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
All right, so we can stay away from nose.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
I give you a game I'm looking at that you No,
nothing's gonna happen here, And it's the obvious reason. The
San Francisco forty nine at eight and four, visit the
Cleveland Browns at three and eight. And if you've seen
the film with the Cleveland Browns practicing and walking through
yesterday and today, it's a little flurryings and snowy out there,
So it's gonna be some weather and if you tune
in Monday night against the Carolina Panthers, Brock Purdy looked

(21:43):
like the guy that a lot of us warn people
about as far as paying him big time money. Cleveland
one of the best defense of the football, Miles gar
is gonna break the sack record.

Speaker 5 (21:54):
Did he earn the big time money though?

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Who? Miles Party Rock Purdy?

Speaker 3 (21:59):
No?

Speaker 4 (22:00):
But remember last night, Well, hold on, here's my thing
about quarterbacks and I mentioned this, you know when we
did the show last night. I don't really worry about
who's earning what. It's next man up because there's no
guaranteed lifetime money for these guys.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
So you have to well he did get he did
get the big one. He didn't. They had to. They
had to at that point. Yeah, I mean, he hed
done enough.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
I'll say this, he done enough to get to be
able to say I'm next guy up. And that's the
way contracts work with any position in football. We see
one guy get signed, highest non quarterback, two weeks later,
highest non quarters two weeks later, highest paid corner ever
a week and a half later, new highest paid. It's

(22:46):
like next guy up, and Brock was next guy up,
brought got to a super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
And in this.

Speaker 4 (22:51):
League, if you can get to one, you can ask
for your money. Maybe, I don't care how long you've
been in there. Didn't get it what you but he
was he was next guy up. And also yeah, and
also to that, to add to that, there's a caveat
also to that's not always about just being next man up.
It's also if the front office thinks you're their guy.

(23:11):
If they think you're their guy, I always say, pay him.
If you think you found your guy, don't wait around,
don't string it out, just go ahead and pay him.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
I wasn't sure if the Dolphins thought to it was
the guy the year before, because remember they didn't give
him an extension. They said, we're gonna make you play
another year, then we'll talk about an extension because he
had he had the concussion, which was rightfully.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
So that was rightfully.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
I'll just say, you know, I don't think they were
sold on to at that point. I think only recently.
What when they gave him the contract is when they
were firing.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
Of course, though Arnie, he had you're you're kind of
almost debating your own your own comment. Of course they
waited because he had the concussion. That was the smart
thing to do. But once he came back and played
and it was time to re up or you're gonna
lose him, probably to free agency they had.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
He was the next man up. It just is what
it is.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
So but with Brock Party that that game right there
has a lot of attention for me because San Francisco
is fighting with the Rams, who you believe is the
runners with the Eagles, uh in the entire league.

Speaker 2 (24:15):
And I agree with you there.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
Steve Hartman, my partner on Sundays, believe they are the
best team in the league, in our Power five we
do every week.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
But of course Shador.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Sanders Man, you know he's he's he's a lightning rod
topic right now to spread is only four and a half.
But before we go back down the list, let's tell
you somebody else that's not a lightning rod Man. It's
just the best of the business and does his thing.
And right now, last time for the night man the Sega.
A lot of sports today, brother, you match.

Speaker 8 (24:39):
A lot of football to discuss.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
Good to hear you once again.

Speaker 8 (24:42):
College football number two Indiana is twelve and ohero after
winning as expected at Purdue fifty six to three Purdue
finishesh to nine in the Big Ten, sixteenth ranked Texas
at home, trailed Texas A and M at the half
ten three and beat the third ranked dagg He's twenty
seven seventeen A and M had been eleven to zero.
Marcel Reid of the Aggies through two interceptions, he did

(25:05):
have twelve carries seventy one yards, but the Texas quarterback
Arch Manning in the second half had a touchdown pass
and a touchdown run. This clinches a berth for Georgia
in the ac SEC title game, he said. Fourth rank
Georgia beat the ACC's Flora Georgia Tech team sixteen tonied
george Is beating him eight straight times and in twenty

(25:27):
one of their last twenty four meetings. Each team went
three for three on field goals. Today, So Georgia Tech
in November lost three of its four games after an
eight to no start to the season. Old Miss is
rank seventh eleven and one. Will they have their coach
after tomorrow? They did win at rival Mississippi State thirty
eight nineteen. Trinidad Chambliss of Old Miss four touchdown passes

(25:49):
three hundred and fifty nine yards, passing his seventh three
hundred yard passing game this year. Now, Mississippi coach Lane
Kiffen will decide tomorrow if he's leaving for LSU or not.
Thirteenth rank Utah won at Kansas thirty one twenty one
with three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including a ninety
seven yard pick six Jalen Daniels of the Jayhawks. Two
total touchdowns but three interceptions. Kansas lost five of its

(26:12):
final six games. Utah's only losses this year were two
Texas Tech and BYU, probably the two finalists in that
Big Twelve Conference. Arizona was trailing seven nothing late first
half and still won at rival Arizona State in their
top twenty five battle, twenty three to seven ASU with
five turnovers. Arizona State eleven drives, twelve first downs. North

(26:36):
Texas now eleven and one beat up Temple, New Mexico
in double overtime, defeated San Diego State. Iowa won easily
at Nebraska Boise State on a late touchdown won twenty
five twenty four at Utah State and Saturday on Fox
TV number one. Ohio State is at number fifteen. Michigan
Vanderbilt gave coach Clark Lee a new six year contract.
Stanford's new head coach, ta Vita Pritchard, former quarterback and

(26:59):
assistant there the Oregon State's new head coach, JaMarcus Sheppard,
Alabama's co offensive coordinator. There was an NFL game in
Philadelphia today, battle of eight and three teams went to
the Bears convincingly twenty four to fifteen over the Eagles
Jalen Hurts in defeat two touchdown passes but two turnovers.
The Eagles offense, on their first nine drives today had

(27:19):
only seven first downs and they trailed twenty four to nine.
Bears had twenty eight first downs on third down conversion.
Chicago was ten of seventeen Kyle Madongai one hundred and
thirty yards rushing in a score, Teammate DeAndre Swift one
hundred and twenty five yards rushing in a TD. Philadelphia
missed an extra point kick, a two point pass, a
field goal attempt, and had the two turnovers. The Bears

(27:42):
move into the two seed in the NFC half game
behind the Rams. Chicago plays at Green Bay a week
from Sunday. Philadelphia's at the Chargers.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
Next game on a Monday night.

Speaker 8 (27:51):
Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return to play Sunday with
a broken left wrist. The Bucks say quarterback Baker Mayfield
trending toward playing this weekend despite the sprain left shoulder.
Texans quarterback CJ. Stroud will start. He's clear concussion protocol.
The Vikings will start Max Brosmer as JJ McCarthy is
still he.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
Where what did he play?

Speaker 8 (28:13):
Its?

Speaker 5 (28:13):
College ball in Minnesota is last year? Geez my goodness.

Speaker 8 (28:17):
Man rookie in the NFL, Giants rookie quarterback Jackson Dart
will start Monday night after missing time with a concussion.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
There you go. Men that yesterday we talked about that.

Speaker 8 (28:26):
Yet that's right, and the team actually said it today.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Men's college we were everywhere, Yes, but DVJ. Did we
bring that up yesterday? We said Jackson Dark Yes, there
was the Alla Fort yesterday.

Speaker 8 (28:36):
Absolutely Wow.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
We broke down over the did how about that?

Speaker 8 (28:40):
Men's college hoops wins in the top ten for Connecticut
and by U NHL shootout victories for Anaheim, Philly and Minnesota,
which is won seven in a row, Dallas b Utah
for three. US women's soccer won its exhibition in Orlando
three nothing over Italy and in the NBA, Oklahoma City
has won eleven in a row. After edging Phoenix thirty
seven points for Shay Gilt, Alexander Lakers won their sixth

(29:02):
straight beating Dallas Austin Reeves thirty eight points, Luka Doncic
thirty five. Anthony Davis X of LA returned and had
twelve points after missing a month, Memphis won at The
Clippers won twelve one oh seven despite thirty nine points
from Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio and Utah with wins, Philadelphia
and New York with victories. Indiana was two and sixteen

(29:22):
but beat a Washington team that is now two and
sixteen one easily, Pacers one nineteen eighty six, Atlanta and
Orlando with victories, and Charlotte endo a seven game losing streak.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Back to you, Steve, stick it out for a second
whenever we do it show. Steve.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
You know you're one of my favorite people to talk sports.
But you know and I always have a question for you,
So I got a question for you tonight.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
Man.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
Texas best wins this year to beat number three Texas
A and M number Oklahoma number fourteen. Vanderbilt losses won
number one, Ohio State, number four, Georgia and Florida CFP.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Yes or no.

Speaker 8 (29:54):
You meat three top ten teams. I've had a pretty
good resumeation.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Now does the last name at a quarterback mean anything?
Because you're going to get We know this is about money,
we know this is about game people.

Speaker 8 (30:06):
To tell Ironically, I think Manning's poor game in that
opening game, if they don't make the top ten, that's
gonna be what costs them because that was so much
a winnable promise and.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
He didn't and he didn't play like he didn't play
particularly well today.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
He didn't play.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
You know, they got the second.

Speaker 8 (30:25):
Half he got, He did what they needed in the
second half.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
They're going nowhere.

Speaker 8 (30:29):
Until then, I will add that you pretty much have
to finish in the top ten in the final committee
rankings or you're not going to the playoff because number
eleven is going to be the ACC champ and number
twelve is going to be the smaller school. Absolutely, So
can you go from sixteen to ten and essentially one
week because Texas is not going to be in their

(30:49):
conference title game?

Speaker 5 (30:50):
That's tough.

Speaker 4 (30:51):
So last part, you can't go from sixteen to ten.
But tomorrow Can you go from fifteen to ten and
your two losses hold on? Your two losses would be.

Speaker 8 (31:01):
USC at USC Michigan and at.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Oklahoma, but you beat number one undefeated Ohio State at
the end of the year.

Speaker 8 (31:10):
I think that's a tough ask as well, to move
from fifteen to ten. Yeah, I think it's just as
tough for Texas at sixteen to move that far up.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Do you think it would help if some of these
teams up get knocked out of their conference championship game?
Can Alabama and Georgia get pushed out just by losing
to each other in their conference championship team?

Speaker 8 (31:31):
Well, I mean, if Bama gets upset yesterday, they're not
in their conference championship game, Old missus, So that's probably
what everybody's rooting for. Unfortunately, that would be such a
massive upset because even though in rivalry games we've seen
upsets before, we've seen better Auburn teams before, so I'm
not expecting an upset in that one tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Okay, awesome stuff, I gotta get my question to Steve Man. Steve,
this guy's fun. We talked running backs for like six months.
We talked college running backs last year for because Ason
Gentsy was having that year and we kept talking about
you know, Marshall Falken, you were down there, like you
saw what he was putting out on Saturday. I think
people forget about Garrison Hurst, Will Daney and Thomas and
Adrian Peterson.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
There are some guys at college ascid. Jenny was doing
this thing last year.

Speaker 8 (32:12):
Marshall Falkes and New Southern University had.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
Right got the job down there. Congratulates to him.

Speaker 8 (32:17):
Also, Southern with one win playing their rivalry game tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (32:21):
It's appropriate for the weekly Listen.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
It don't matter.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
Who's Grambling's uh rival, Southern Southern Southern because that Gramble
used to be a big time program.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
But yeah, the rival don't never, don't never ask that
question on liverry again. It's yeah, it's Southern.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
You you should have known that.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
You know about the white dude that breaks his leg
in the eighties, you know about that, but you don't
know that Southern's ribbery Southern.

Speaker 5 (32:48):
That's why I asked Grambling when you say that Marshall
Fulk is from Louisiana.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Yes, absolutely, yeah.

Speaker 8 (32:53):
And by the way, Arnie does not watch The Battle
of the Band, so I forgive.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
Oh the Battle of the bad he plays pickle well,
of course he doesn't watch the Battle of the Band.
There's not a person that's in the pickleball league that's
gonna watch the Battle of the Band.

Speaker 8 (33:05):
Can I just add that Ashton Gent he probably had
a better offensive line in college than.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
He has.

Speaker 4 (33:11):
Every time I watched that cat, think about you, because
you and I were super high on him last year,
and you gotta think you gotta fill That kid is thinking, Wow,
this is the NFL.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
I don't have I don't have nothing. I got nothing here.

Speaker 8 (33:23):
I wish I knew statistically the number, but there are
so many runs where he literally is contacted before he
reaches the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
Absolutely raider in his rookie year.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Then you remember last year the announced the astounding stat
you and I loved and kept saying every week he
had more yards after contact last year than the nation's
number two rushing yards. So even if you took those
yards away, he still led the nation in Russian.

Speaker 8 (33:49):
So it was like what we saw from the Bear's
backfield today. Constantly the yards after contact. That was the
whole season for the Boise State Star.

Speaker 4 (33:57):
It's called pissport tackling. That's the way I look at him.
You gotta wrap guys up, all right, just take her
rat seeing you, sir, it's been a while, happy belated
things giving.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Arnie. We got one
more semient coming out.

Speaker 6 (34:08):
Man.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
I'm handed to you. Man, I got a question up
and throw it. You get prepared for this what surprises.
Let's just you think this weekend's crap. Fine, but I
need you doing the commercial. But I need you come
up with two or three games. We say you are
a VJ. I think these games are bad, but look
for this type of upset, this type of game. You
got Buffalo at at Pittsburgh. We know there's gonna be
a rookie quarnanick and bad and this yeah, that's where bad.

(34:31):
But that's not any upset. Like King Carolina bounced back
against the Rams. We think the Rams very both of
us think very highly on the Rams of Baker comes back.
They got Arizona and the fighting and fighting Jacobe Prissett's
and the Cardinals coming into that game. Denver and Washington.
I know Washington doesn't have their quarterback. Things are not less.
I don't know what somebody else knows. And Jayden Daniels

(34:51):
is back, but that elbow, it seems he might be
a four round. Then we also have the Giants and
the Patriots, So take him in and do a commercial.
Break brother, come back and surprise us with some ups said,
give us some upsets on just a bad NFL weekend,
by your standards. Wearing for Jason Smith and his best
friend Mike Harmon, Arnie Spayne or VJ Vernonsky.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Did Jason Smith The Show with Jason Smith and his
best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
I didn't know we were back from breaking it. I've
never heard this song before. I thought this was a
commercial or promo. I hate up Alex on the talks back,
I said, are we back? I've never heard this as
an Intel song.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
VJ.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
Vern Husky sitting there with Arnie spaying, all right, let's
wrap up the show man some more NFL games tomorrow.
I'm gonna throw a game at you, Alreadie and just
tell me something.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Could it be on? Upset? Should this team be on
upset alert.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
Jacksonville Jaguars seven and four at the one in ten
Tennessee Titans with a rookie quarterback and one overall pick
six point spread. Jacksonville should Jacksonville be on upset alert
tomorrow on Sun.

Speaker 6 (35:56):
You know, I know it doesn't show in the wins
and losses last three games for the Titans, though they've
done a pretty good job. They've lost by seven to
the Chargers, by three to the Texans, and by six
to the Seahawks, so it's been competitive. Finally, they'll eventually,
you know, break on through and you know, get on
and the Jaguars have looked good seven and four. Finally,

(36:17):
Trevor Lawrence getting it done a little bit. They're on
a two game winning streak.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
But they beat a Charger team that is real banged up,
and then they beat a Cardinal team that really has
no business doing anything. They're just horrible.

Speaker 6 (36:29):
Texans are trending in the right direction, all because they've
had a good part of the schedule. They beat the Raiders,
lost to the Texans, and like I said, beat the
Chargers and Cardinals. I don't think there's gonna be an
upset in this one. I think Jaguars probably go ahead
and cover this game. I just don't think the Titans
are on the same class as even like I said,

(36:49):
Jacksonville headed in the right direction.

Speaker 5 (36:51):
I think they make the playoffs. They're gonna one. They're
gonna be the team that keeps Kansas City out.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
Buffalo seven and four at six and five, pittsburh stale
as three points spread for Buffalo coming off of an
ugly loss, Steelers getting their quarterback back. Coming's gonna play
with the broken hand, wrist, whatever it is, mister discount
double check.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
This seems like it should just be a walk in
the park for Buffalo. Get back on track.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
You know, you got Josh Allen raining MVP, you got
the weapons, and everybody that wants the Buffalo Bills for
some reason to really be successful, Josh down to win
a Super Bowl. Should they be on upset alert going
into Pittsburgh's Oh absolutely.

Speaker 5 (37:26):
I mean the Bills have lost two of their last three.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
They lost to the Texans, they lost to the Dolphins,
they got steamrolled by the Dolphins. They they they beat
the Buccaneers, so they got that one in there. But
they've lost two of the last three Pittsburgh. Like you said,
they're getting Rogers back, it's in Pittsburgh. Yeah, there should
be I'm not gonna say upset alert, but because the
line is only three. But Buffalo, they they've been stagned at.

(37:50):
Their offense has not looked good except for the Tampa
Bay game. Didn't look good in the Miami game. Didn't
look good in the Texans game. Yeah, I think they
have to be an upset there.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
And we didn't answer this when we talked about it earlier.
San Francisco eight and four, coming off of an ugly
win brock Party three first half interception money night against
Carolina Panthers at Shadoor Sanders and the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
That Shay team right there at three and eight, only
four and a half point spread.

Speaker 4 (38:18):
The Shador start his NFL career at two and zero
after people thought he wouldn't take a snap in his
NFL career. Well, how do you see this in should
San Francisco beyond Shadoor Shadoor alert?

Speaker 5 (38:32):
I don't know, you know, people didn't think he was
gonna take a stop. You played for Cleveland.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
Someone at this network acts me did an over under
on half a snap in his NFL career.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
I'm dead serious a lot radio.

Speaker 6 (38:43):
I would have taken the over, no doubt on that.
Of course, San Francisco the much better team. I don't
think schadur is ready to step up in class. Like
I said, Look, he had some good things done last game,
but there's a difference when you beat the Raiders compared
to play in San Francisco. I would see what he
could do, especially gets a good San Francisco team. So

(39:04):
I'll take the forty nine ers. I'll lay the points.
I think Shoulders could have a tough time.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
In this game.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Six and five Houston Sexs at the eight and three.
Indianapolis Coats at one point had the number one offensive
the lead for most of the year. Dallas Cowboys have
non taking that over almost four hundred yards. Game three
and a half points. They're at home. Daniel Jones, a
little banged up, made some deadline trains again. Saw smister
Grabby Grabby Hans a gardener to come in and help
out that secondary that wasn't playing too well.

Speaker 2 (39:29):
But you do get CJ. Stroudback, but you got questions
about CJ.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
And so to Kerry Rose leaving the studio as I
was coming in filling in for Kevin watching on the
Jacob Rob Parker. Should the Coats even at home division
game after Thanksgiving?

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Things get a lot tougher. Should they be on upset
alert on something?

Speaker 5 (39:46):
They should be an upset alert though. I do like
the Coats in this game.

Speaker 6 (39:49):
I mean, what Daniel Jones has done this year has
been absolutely phenomenal. At one point was probably top five
for a Most Valuable Player of the NFL just a
couple of weeks ago. Of course, he's got hurt, missed
a few games. You mentioned TJ. Stroud coming back for
the Texans. Obviously that's going to help them. I still
still think the Colts are the much better team. I

(40:09):
would have taken Indianapolis minus the three and a half
in this one.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
