Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just lost to the Los Angeles Rams and had some interesting comments following the game that could suggest possible retirement. NFL Insiders Jason La Canfora also joins the program to lend his insight on the situation. Staying with the NFL, the last 13 second of the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs NFL Divisional playoff game was absolutely wild, but Jason didn't think Patrick Mahomes did anything special. Yikes! All this and much more on The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon.

The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon on Fox Sports Radio.
There's so much drama to get to, right. We have
everything with the Bills and the Chiefs, we have Aaron Rodgers,
but today was dominated by what is next for a
different player? What is next for Zach? What is next
for Tom Brady? Because kind of out of nowhere Sunday morning,

(00:43):
we get this report, Hey, uh, Tom Brady might be
retiring at the end of this year, and it was
like WHOA. On game day that gets out and that
one kind of felt to me like, hey, we gotta
feel like three hours of pre game was anything. But
when that story came out, it was, Okay, what is it?
What is Brady doing? But now, as you've seen this

(01:04):
unfold the last twenty four hours, and especially Tom Brady's
own words. He talked a lot about it today on
his Let's Go podcast with Jim Gray. Brady said, yeah,
what's next for me? I don't know. I got to
take some time and decide. And as you're gonna hear
him say right now, my family is what's gonna help
me make this choice. You know, every year, I just
have to make sure that UM have the ability to

(01:26):
commit to what the team really needs. And that's a
that's a really important to me. The team doesn't deserve
anything less than my best and if I feel like
I'm not committed to that or I can't play the
championship level, then you gotta give someone else a chance
to play. So there was a lot about this, He
went on to say about he and his family look
as old at son is is fourteen now and lives
with Bridget moynahan in New York, and Brady, you know,

(01:48):
gets to see him as much as he can. But
clearly when you have kids on other side of the coast,
and we know that Giselle Fernandez, Notifred we know Fernandez.
It was you said it was on Pat O'Brien on
what was that access Hollywood. Uh, you know, Gasel Bunching
has been very much. But I just made a whole
story right there. Who the hell trying to figure out

(02:11):
who she is and what what you were watching? Because
I guarantee you not only in the studio and Alex
and Ralph and Crossberry at home and many folks across
this great globe. We're going, wait a minute, what's what's
Jason referencing? Man who Gisel Fernandez? It? She was on

(02:32):
Dancing with the Stars? She was, because you know what,
that's where I would recognize her from. But do you
know me at all? After eight plus years? Are you
kidding me? But you know who Gisel Fern? Don't if
she you really don't know Jell was from. It was
all over your television in the nineties and the outs.
She was everywhere. I think now she's on like Spectrum

(02:53):
News here in l A. But she was all over TV.
Giselle Fernandez. Come on, you can't you can't give me
that I don't know, Gazelle Fernandez. I am oowing you
with a d You could put a stack of Bibles
or whatever you want me to swear on a couple
of wheels of cheese. I don't know. I don't know
people swear on wheels and cheese. Really, I thought it
was more just to try to bring you in, you know,

(03:15):
to make sure that we were getting all of our
demographics and the religious, the religious and the ones uh
not in the legal system. But swearing on well food
toppings and Chase Smith is really serious. He swore in
a big wheel of cheese before then anything else in
the world. Real credit card questions require real people, someone

(03:39):
who understand your issues works to resolve. I'm with you.
That's why I Discover offers helpful US based representatives available
seven Discover exceptionally common sense. Now, so you know that
there's been a lot with her, with the family, with
with Gazelle bunch in and wanting Tom to retirem but
she had that let that slip about all his concussions
a couple of years ago, and that story got hushed up. Look,

(03:59):
there's a lot of hot takes you can have about
the Tom Brady situation, but this is exactly what it is. Right,
I'll tell you exactly what the reality is. Because Brady
Brady is not the guy to do this right. That
Brady is not This is not his act to say,
I don't know, maybe one more year. Maybe he's not
Brett Farve, okay, he's not a guy to do this.
For this to come up and to hear from all
the Buccaneers as well, saying we hope Tom comes back.

(04:21):
We'd love him to come back, but if not, we
understand that's really fast. That's really fast after a loss
in the divisional playoff round to be to be very
much okay with what's going on. Bruce arians today is
saying we're gonna reload, We're not gonna rebuild. Things are happening,
so you know this is this is a topic behind
the scenes and it gets out, but this is what

(04:44):
it's going to be. Brady is now sitting and involving
his team with it, and and the conversation goes like this,
because this is how we'd go with with with family.
All Right, I'm playing really really well. I'm feeling good.
I had a really good year health wise. I know
the end is coming. I really want to be with
you guys growing up, and maybe now is the time.
Let me just take a little bit, let me see

(05:05):
how the team is gonna look. And if I don't
think we're going to compete for a Super Bowl. Then
I'm gonna retire and that's it, because he's not gonna
come and get his ass kicked for a fun He's
not gonna have at the last memory. B of boy,
remember that year when Tampa thought they were good and
their their offensive line all got injured and Brady just
got sacked seventy five times and he couldn't move and
it was so hard, and and then they couldn't recreate

(05:26):
any magic and it was just really difficult to watch.
Brady's not going to have that year if Tampa Bay
who now has a lot of free agents, right, and
they got a lot of older free agents and a
lot of guys out there who are thirty enough, if
they're able to put a plan together to say, this
is how we're going to get better. We have X,
Y and Z, this is the flexibility we have. We

(05:47):
are going to create a very competitive team. And Brady's
no who knows who's gonna be out there, who would
come play with him for one more year, who they'd
want to bring back, who would have to go get
more of Obviously they gotta go get more weapons because
you didn't you didn't play this with with Chris Godwin
and Antonio Brown. Uh, leaving the team was a was
a real screw you. So it's this is not hot taker,

(06:08):
this is not a hot take thing. This is just
this is how it's going to go. I think Brady's
being very honest. I will I'm gonna talk with my family,
Let's see where the team stands. And if I feel like, hey,
I can have one more good year and I can
play till I'm forty five and do my thing, because
he doesn't also doesn't want to go back on that.
I want to play till I'm forty five. Alright, one
more year and you can do that. Uh. If if

(06:29):
he feels that can happen, then he will play. But
if if you can't feel the Bucks are going to
feel the team that's gonna make him great, that's going
to be allowed to put in that position like he
was this year, then he will retire. So I I
honestly believe that what he's giving us is at face value,
is that I'm gonna take this time. This is not
a power play behind the scenes, because what you've seen

(06:51):
from the from the Bucks and what they're saying is like, Okay,
we understand. Uh, it's not Aaron Rodgers and I'm I'm here.
I'm not happy, but I am happy, but I'm not
Now I don't know now what we're getting from Brady.
I think this is this is a pretty honest opinion.
And as things go, as we get closer to free
agency and how they can remake things, that's what's gonna happen.

(07:12):
And maybe this decision goes into the beginning of March
and and we see where we're at after that and
who wants to come play and who wants to stay
and who they're able to go. But that I I
believe Brady that this is a this is a a
face value story, and that he continues going to talk
with his with his family, see where the bucks are at,
and then he will make his decision. Well, sure, I

(07:32):
mean there's always that, you know, rare option of Hey,
what do you try a third uniform? Right? Just for giggles,
Uh do the lebron James? Can I win in a
third uniform? Uh? And and roll from that And now
now it's goat and goat for some folks in terms
of chasing. Uh, look at the free agent list, you

(07:53):
know as it stands, and this is spot track spow track. However,
we're pronouncing that, uh Godwin, Pierre Paul Jensen, Sue Gronk
for net Ronald Jones, who hasn't panned out, but he
was cheap this year, and I can't imagine there's a
huge market for him. I mean, I know Scotty Miller
will be there for him, so we do have that
Miller will he will always be there. He will be Yeah,

(08:15):
he's the James Jones of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He
will be he He will be there for Tom Brady
when he needs him most. And that's really kind of
the most interesting Happy Birthday Tristan Works, by the way,
who was had that tweeted by the Buccaneers and responded
with a picture of Lieutenant Dan having confetti thrown on
him from Forrest Gump. I found it funny. Maybe maybe

(08:39):
it wasn't. I don't know. I thought he had a
pretty good sense of humor about it. But you got
a team that's in shake up mode, obviously his contract,
and you know, as much as we talked about Rogers
and and Wilson and everybody last offseason, it's the same
with with Brady in terms of all right, let's tinker
with your deal and change some language and expectations and

(08:59):
geary and tease and whatever else. So, um, they could
agree to shake hands and walk away and then maybe
it's retirement, maybe it's it's else. But you know, you're
also gonna have a shake up of the staff, right,
I mean Byron left, which may not be there. I
don't know what that means in terms of Brady's decision making,
but it's another piece of the puzzle that changes going

(09:21):
into a new season. So um, you know, offensive line
losing Jensen would be a big deal. Uh, looking at
a center, it's gonna be thirty one making over ten
million dollars a year trying to bring him back or
or replace him. And we as we've seen, that's a
pretty damn hard position to replace right away. Uh. In

(09:42):
the NFL, yeah, you could steal somebody else's star, but
developing your own, that one takes time. So uh, you know,
I thought Brady was pretty thoughtful with his comments, you know,
at the podium on Sunday and and certainly the clips
from the Jim Gray podcast of you know, reflecting on it.
And this was an odd season. I mean we expected

(10:02):
it to be odd for everybody because of you know,
continuing COVID protocols and everything to go through. But Buccaneers
had a lot of twists and turn some of it,
you know, self inflicted when you look at the Antonio
Brown situation of what developed their right the deal with
the devil that finally came do uh much like everybody
says that him losing a tight matchup after tying it

(10:24):
and Matt Stafford being able to get that winning field
goal might have said that, you know, the devil came
for his uh, you know, he went down to the
crossroads and now he had to had to return the
guitar and lost his immortal soul. Uh So. But but
I mean it's good theater. But you know what, we
still have the theater of three more NFL games before

(10:44):
we say goodbye to this season. That's the Pro Bowl,
right and I'll tell you so, really three more games.
So I'll tell you is there is there any doubt
that at most this is Brady's last year? I mean,
this is it. If he comes back, this is not
gonna be all I'm still feeling good another year after that. No,
this seems like if he comes back, this is gonna
be it. Like if you go, I'm gonna go, and

(11:06):
this is where I'm gonna finish, and there's not gonna
be Tom Brady the NFL after Uh that that that
that is for certain. I've seen this today. Yeah. If
he's thinking about this, all right, and one more ride
comes up, yeah, but after this to go, Yeah, I'm
still feeling good now because you don't get that time
back with your family or certain things, and you also

(11:26):
don't get better. You know, you can only you can
only be as good as you can be for so
long before you realize, all right, things just aren't happening
for me anymore. At the end of this season was
a real struggle for him. The Bucks didn't really play
very well. You need all kinds of magic to beat
the Jets the next to last week. So I don't
know that it's more than this year. If it is,
even he does like, this is gonna be it, and
I know they'll have a he'll have a um uh

(11:49):
some kind of retirement uh you know year. But people
will know that this is gonna be it for Brady
and and and this is gonna be the year and say, okay,
look back and you've got some more super Bowls. Anybody
else that that's a really really big deal. Well, the
fact that he got his lip bloodied and then got
no call from the official and actually got a fifteen
yard called against him might also help in the decision process.

(12:10):
I'd not get the calls anymore. Man. He's my Carmen,
I'm Dan Buyer. Do. We have a brand new fantasy
football podcast called I Want Your Flex. Twice a week,
every Tuesday and Friday, we come up with new episodes
to not only look back at what happened, what you

the pickups to turbo boost your fantasy lineup, sits starts,
fantasy football players rankings to get you ready to dominate
the competition. Listen to I Want Your Flex with Mike

(12:55):
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the I heart radio lap.
Tom Brady may or may not be retiring. Aaron Rodgers
may or may not be staying in Green Bay, may
or may not be going to another He may or
may not be retiring. All these things are going on.
And oh, by the way, yeah, we have the a

(13:17):
f C and NFC championship games all set for this weekend,
so we are dealing with a lot of stuff. We
got quarterback news that's overshadowing the games because it's Rogers,
it's Brady. I mean for last week, Mike, where we
were leading up to the games, going what kind of
storylines are we gonna get? Yeah, we got a day
louse of them. It's like walking outside and then just
the Skies partner just starts raining all of a sudden, going,

(13:39):
I'm getting all this rain and once okay, still all
this stuff out of coaching carousel, still a bunch of
GM jobs open. Will teams be foolhardy and then hire
a coach and then the GM afterwards, because I think
that's gonna happen in my hometown, amongst a couple of others. Uh,
the Giants actually hired a GM, so they're moving in
a direction. But yeah, I mean quarterbacks and retirement to

(14:02):
not retire quarterbacks who had bad games had some big
throws right when you like, go back to Saturday's game.
Tannehill had some monster throws and then he had some
monstrously bad decisions, as did Mike Vrabel Hi Dot Dave Foreman.
I had four carries, four and I helped lead you

(14:23):
for eight weeks to the number one seed. Can you
explain when the other guy has not falling forward? I
know he's the king when he's healthy and all, but
I averaged the same thing he did. So all of
these stories, so it is Tannehill on the market. Your guy,
Jimmy Jeep, I mean my guy Jimmy g all of
that kind of squirrels together and so much more around
the game. It's so good. I'll tell you. The one

(14:44):
weird thing about be because we went to San Francisco
this weekend to go see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Right,
so excited, we get up there twenty minutes before the
play starts, they say, no play tonight. We have a
COVID situation, so there's no play. Well, that's the terrible
thing is because I followed him on instant because I
saw it a while back there before it closed down

(15:06):
and consolidated, because it was two parts, like it was
a weird kind of configuration, and like how slow they were.
It's like, if you canceled Saturday, why don't why why
don't you take the weekend because Monday is dark? And uh,
move forward. But but they left you guys hanging. That
was just all the way twenty minutes before they canceled.
I'm like, uh. And then I walk up to find

(15:27):
out about getting money back and everything, because they weren't
really crazy about getting money back. And I'm like, no,
of course, we come to want you to go back
through the tickets, so it'll take a few weeks, right,
and the and the people in front are like, oh,
there's so many other wonderful things to do here in
San Francisco. I'm like, oh, you're not helping. You're not,
I said, I said, we came out of town specifically
for this. And then and then one girl says, well,

(15:48):
we we have the Marvel Museum that's done. I go,
we're leaving it. We're leaving at nine o'clock in the
morning tomorrow. It's six thirty at night. What am I
gonna do it. Family Museum is closed over either Psidio.
I mean, you've lost that at a bunch. What am
I gonna do? It's Sunday night. I don't care what city,
and it's Sunday night. What do you it's well, you know, yeah,

(16:09):
COVID's a good comedy club up there. I'm like, you
don't know, five year Deli Square, there's a comedy club
as part of that. We were, Yeah, but we had
already been. We'd already been to Geared. That was the
first place was here. Like, you couldn't go back there? No,
we could have. We could have gone back, but it
was like everybody in front of the theater that was
telling everyone it was none of them were really good

(16:30):
at understanding how upset people were going to be that
there was gonna be no show as well. Yeah, COVID's
gonna COVID. The girl tells me, go, I go, don't
tell me that. I go. I understand this, but you
gotta give me five seconds of being really mad about this,
and you gotta give me my money back. That's what
I got not gonna exchange because now I've got coming
from out of town. You're gonna give me my money back.

(16:50):
Oh you okay, go talk down here. So it was
just one of those where we came up there just
for that. But hey, we brought the Niners a win,
so there is that, right, Yeah, you know it worked
better for that. I was more of a giver this
weekend because I gave the gift of me being there
in the Niners one and then you know, we just
didn't get to go see Harry Potter joining us now

(17:11):
on the hotline, CBS Sports NFL Insider explored there Jason
Lock and Flora you can follow him on Twitter at
Jason Locke and Flora and it will be Jason Lock
and Flora and Tom Brady's family who are going to
decide his future. Jay congratulations being in on the inner
circle on that story. Yeah, well, you know it helps

(17:33):
to know people. Um, every dog has his day and
uh no, but look, the reality is and we all
know there's no I mean, look, baseball, football, hockey, soccer,

(17:53):
like you think about giants of modern sport or even
not so modern sport, like just for pure accomplishment, like
for what they are, what they've done on the field,

(18:15):
for for how they've raised the bar for what's considered Um,
feasible or or attainable in athletic accomplishment. Tom Brady's I
mean like he's kind of the up there. We talked
about it the you know Mount Rushmore football, Like what

(18:37):
about the Mount Rushmore of like athletic achievement. And I'm
not trying to say he's some incredible athlete, like he
obviously had his limitations, but in terms of what he achieved,
the winning that he did. And I'm using past tense
because I do think it's over. You think he's done? Yeah? Wait,

(18:58):
you think this that he's gonna wind up saying he's yes, yes,
and so like I think I feel like he's up
there with Muhammad Ali and Babe Ruth like I think
he's on that pedestal. I think he no one's going

(19:19):
to do this, like we're never seeing this again. We
we just aren't. And now he's done it with two franchises,
and now he's done it up through almost his you know,
turning forty five. I mean he turns forty five. I
think August the third. For him to have done what
he did is earth chattering. It's my numbing and the

(19:45):
length and breadth and totality of this career is nothing
less than stunning, and I hope we've all celebrated it.
And I'm not saying you have to agree with everything
the Patriots did, and I get it why people don't
like them, and you know, spy Gate, the flake gate, whatever,

(20:05):
I mean. I think the flight gate was a bunch
of crap. But regardless, this is of another world, like
we're never going to see this again, and I hope
people appreciate this ridiculous Bonker's career he had now Jay,

(20:26):
this story came on to us pretty quickly, you know,
Sunday morning, here story a story. Sources say Brady maybe retiring.
This could be it, and he's going to spend time
with his family. We've heard the talk today he's going
to then make that decision. What happened so fast, because
up until now it was Hey, I'm playing, I'm I
could play. I can just tell you about my reporting,
because I reported Saturday morning that there were a number

(20:49):
of players on that team, many of whom were very
close to him, who were operating under the assumption that
whenever this season ends, it's over. And that's not because
he said something that him. That's not because there was
something conveyed overtly. But these are dudes who are really
in tune with him, who are really close to him,
who just know him inside out, and the vibe, the

(21:12):
body language, the sense they were getting was this isn't
like last year. This isn't like we're you know, we're
we're building something here for two or three or four
or five years. This was ryde or die. So I
started picking that up in the middle of the week
and wasn't looking for it. And I was talking to
a couple of people about things that about coaching search,

(21:35):
things that had really nothing to do with Tom Brady
but did relate to the Tampa Bay Bucks because they
obviously have an offensive coordinator defensive coordinator who are very
involved in this hiring cycle. So I started picking that up,
and then I started talking to people very close to Tom,
people who have known him for a long time, people
who have always used as sort of a sound check, like, Hey,

(21:59):
I'm getting this, I'm getting that. What do you think
People who normally would be like if if it's if
I was off base, they would tell me I was
off base. If if if I'm like, hey, this is
what have the locker rooms perceiving his actions, his his mannerisms,
his um ticket request for this game, his just sort

(22:21):
of where they are with him. These are people who
would tell me you're right or you're wrong. And these
are people who would say, hey, look Tommy's still saying
he wants to play total he's fifty, or you know,
Tommy's wants to do a new deal so he can
create more cap space for Box or you know. And

(22:43):
it wasn't that at all. It was like, really, so
that's what you're hearing, Well, you you might be onto
something like we're not going to tell you you're crazy,
and we're not going to tell you he's gonna play
forever and everything ends eventually, and he does have interest
outside of football, and you know, like Giselle is going

(23:04):
to have her day at some point, right, and what
like what really, what more could he accomplish? Like like
could he really put even more of a dent in
the record books than he already has? And boy, did
you see how Ben went out? Like boy? That was
really right, kind of rough. And remember how Peyton went
out like God, I mean, he lost his job to

(23:26):
brock Oswald and they had a beg and grovel to
get it back so he can win a Super Bowl
that he really had nothing to do with, Like, yeah,
that's not Tommy. So I like, and I can't speak
to anybody else's reporting, but that's the genesis of mine.
I wasn't looking for it. I wasn't thinking it. But
as of Thursday night, I got into bed late and

(23:49):
told my wife I think she doesn't care about football,
but she's like, what the hell are you doing? Like
I think Tom Brady has done and she's like really,
and I'm like yeah. And that was the extent of
that conversation because there's really she had no follow up questions,
like but she did find it, you know what I mean,
like a little bit like I'm sure she probably went
on her Facebook and was like, oh, I think whatever
she does. I don't know if she's not on Twitter,

(24:09):
but um, the Graham or whatever. So it was very
organic with me, and I can't It wasn't pushed on me.
It wasn't a narrative. It wasn't like marketing people from
Nike were like, really think it was. I wasn't looking
forward at all. But by Friday, I'm on the phone
my producer saying like, at some point Saturday or Sunday.

(24:32):
You gotta let me go on air and say what
I'm hearing, because, Uh, there's a really strong chance that
this is Tom Brady's final football game if he loses. Meanwhile,
another loser out of the weekend, Aaron Rodgers loses at home,
and then he gets into uh, jack handy deep thoughts

(24:52):
mode and the podium Uh and so how what kind
of what do we expect at a timetable in terms
of decision making or launching of him. Look, he's been
sort of in this limbo mode for years now and
they haven't won, and you know, for winning for them
means winning a super Bowl. Like this guy is all

(25:13):
about his legacy, Like it's all about doing something he
hasn't done, you know, in over a decade now, which
is being the last man standing. And we can talk
about lambeau Field and how much those fans love him

(25:34):
and that's all real, and how much they let him
soever and they can't keep the gang together, Like the
bands not all coming back, Like we're losing two roadias,
we're losing our drummer, Um, we might be losing a bassist.
We think we have a replacement. UM rhythm guitarists but

(25:54):
like their Way over the Cap and he set this up.
This was his his project, This was his This time
last year began the Aaron Rodgers Get Me the Bleep
out of Here tour, and now it's come to Fruition

(26:16):
and their cat is it any better? And the roster
isn't much better? And they fell short and I always
thought they fell short. And I never thought this was
gonna be the you know, Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan's Phil

(26:40):
Jackson last dance. This was not. This wasn't going to
be that, and it wasn't. And he still wants to play,
but he doesn't want to be a part of a rebuild.
But they don't. They're not keeping Darius like all the
moves they made three years ago to try to build
the defense around him by buying Adrian Amos and buying

(27:02):
Preston Smith and buying the Darius Smith, they're not doubling
down on those guys. They're not. They're not doing expenses
with them. They can't. And guess what, d Rry. You
gotta be worried about what he looks like moving forward.
And this was Aaron Rodgers creation. He built this Frankenstein

(27:29):
and this Frankenstein was always constructed for you know, him
to go somewhere else, And now he's gonna have to go.
If he wants to keep playing and he wants to
be close to winning a super Bowl, he's gonna have
to go somewhere else. And there's only so much that
Goody and Murphy and and and and the whole band
can do rust Ball to make it feasible to bring

(27:53):
him back for multiple years thinking you're ever going to
be closer to a super Bowl than you should have
been the last few years. But that's gone. And there
will be teams willing to trade for him, and there
will be at least a couple that he's willing to
go to, and and he obviously will control this process
because he'll control who he does an extension with. And

(28:14):
I think he's gone. You can fall on Twitter at
Jason Locke and four that is at Jason Locke and
f Jay has always buddy, appreciate everything, my friend. And hey, listen,
when you get tips like that, if your wife is
not insted, just call us and you can talk to
us about it. Right. Yeah, no, I know. It's it's

(28:34):
the worst pillow talk in the history of the world,
especially because she hasn't watched an NFL game and god
knows how long. But yeah, that's how well I think
tom Brady's are trying good. Oh hey, hey, listen, can
you go to the dry cleaners tomorrow? And yeah, yeah,
but Tom Brady is trying. Yeah listen, well sometime around there,
can you go there because I can't get there tomorrow. Yeah, right,
I'll do that, Okay, right, take an easy guy every week, Jason, Well,

(28:59):
phenomenal stuff. They're come back and four who he thinks
this is it for Tom Brady. Whoop. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific. Patrick
Mahomes did nothing special at the end of regulation last night.
Did he do special things in the game? Yeah, he

(29:21):
was phenomenal. But the last thirteen seconds, oh, Mahomes and
the Chiefs Mahomes, No, the Bills and Bills fans are
never going to get over those final thirteen seconds never,
Just like Seahawks fans still wake up every day and go,
why do we give the balto mar Shawn? All Right,
you gotta go start my day, dude. It was five

(29:42):
years ago. It doesn't matter. Should have given them balto
mar Sham, let me go start my day. Bills fans
are never gonna get over it because the Bills just said, here,
please kick this game tying field goal. All right, now
look at the last thirteen seconds and and oh, by
the way, good luck Leslie Fraser and those job interviews.
Try no like all of a sudden, that's a that's

(30:02):
it's kind of like we joked about Kellen Moore a
week ago, going, what do you think the first you know,
five questions were for him in all his interviews? Good,
good luck, Leslie Frazer. First things first is let's take
care why didn't they squib it? You know what, this
again is a conversation to have with people who just
want to say whatever, the decision that was made was wrong,

(30:24):
because if the Bills squibbed the ball, maybe the not
maybe maybe the Chiefs just get the ball and down it.
So instead of having the ball where they didn't you
started off. You're starting off with your own thirty five
yard line and no time comes off the clock. Okay,
so think about that. Also, think about if you squib
it and you catch it at the thirty and you
run it up to the forty five yard line before

(30:45):
you get tackled. Oh, they took five seconds off the clock,
but you're up at the forty five yard line the
same place the Chiefs were where the eight seconds left
a day ago. So swimming or non scribbing it, it's
just why didn't you squib it? And then if they
scribbed it, it it would be why did you squib it?
Tyree killed and run it back for touch. Those are
just people who are ready to be upset that whatever
decision the Bills made there was wrong. Look, kicking it

(31:07):
deep and it fine, Fine, you got thirteen seconds right,
they pop it up, you know what I mean somewhere
because I mean you're a professional kicker. You should be
able to place the ball on a pop up to
where it's landing somewhere around the ten. I don't know.
Have you watched have you watched some of the one
I'm just I'm just saying in term has taken a
little bit of the juice off. I mean, you're not

(31:28):
you're not on side kicking, and I'm just saying, take
a little bit of the juice off. Now. Obviously, you
know one thing that isn't talked about nearly enough was
the crap bass effort by the Buccaneers kicker kicking the
ball out of bounds repeatedly, What are you doing? Yeah,
that's that's a that's a different set of problems. No, no,
but but but but it plays into this decision making

(31:50):
kick away, runaway, what whatever else you're doing? Uh, Look,
I would have tried for the pop up kick. Some
say squib kick. You say, tell them all to beat it.
You know, it's a lot of theories, but even in
the moment right this, I don't even think this is,
you know, armchair Monday morning quarterback, and I think in
real time everybody singched up in their chair going what
the hell are you doing? Well, look, the Bills wanted

(32:12):
to put the number one defense of you, and if
they're gonna lose this game, they don't want to have
it to be well, our kickoff team blew it for us, right,
they don't want to and that I understand. We're not
gonna leave one play, one of the two plays left
be our kickoff team. And who knows what kind of
crazy has run they yet, So I get it putting
their defense out there. But Mahomes did nothing special. He

(32:34):
did nothing special on these two plays, right, nothing special. Nothing.
The first play, the Bills decided, we're gonna drop everybody back.
So what do we do right off the line, Here's
a wide open Tyreek Kill, who of course is the
fastest player in the NFL, runs up for twenty yards.
Time out. I mean the the Chiefs have time outs here.
I mean it's like the Bills are operating that. The
Chiefs are right, they're gonna have to throw the ball

(32:55):
to the sideline. They have two time outs. You gotta
defend a little bit better than that. You basically, he said, here,
you need to place to get into field goal range.
We're gonna give you the first one by back dropping
everybody off and letting you just throw an easy ball
to Tyreek Kill. Now, maybe Zach Wilson would have short
hopped it and it would have been incomplete, but anybody
else would have completed that pass and gotten up there.

(33:16):
So now you're suddenly saying, okay, half of it's done.
Now we've gotten twenty yards on this play, need another
twenty and then we're kicking a field goal to tie
the game. And then then you decide, okay, we're gonna
drop our linebackers back, and somehow you lose track of
Travis Kelsey. The guy has only been the best tight
ending football for five years. Again, how you how people
lose track of Rob Gronkowski. I don't get how you

(33:38):
lose track of Travis Kelsey. Because the guys my Homes
is gonna throw too on this play, our tyree kill
and Travis Kelsey in that order. Byron Pringle is not
gonna get this ball. Let's okay, he's the last guy there.
The Bills don't rush anybody, so they allow my Homes
to have all the time in the world to throw
the ball downfield, where if you dial up a little
bit of a blitz, at least he's running around on

(33:59):
the play. And when he's running around on the play,
what does that mean? Tick tick tick tick tick time
ticks off. The Bills had such a horrendous game plan
going defensively. Sean McDermott, Bills, they're never gonna get over
that because they know they just allowed to play passively
and they allowed the Chiefs to get those ball because look,
Travis Kelsey was wide open. Tons of guys would have

(34:19):
made that throw, and he goes down time out kicks
the field goal. Mahomes is the best quarterback in the NFL.
I said at many times, all right, he's, but anybody
could have made those plays. The Bills were such at
fault for allowing Matt to happen. There are so many
things they could have done to make that not happen.
You put pressure on Mahomes, you make him throw it early,
maybe he doesn't throw it, or you make him run

(34:40):
around the pocket. So if they do complete the ball
for twenty yards, guess what, there's six seconds left and
it's only time for one more play and you don't
have time to get up there and call your time
out after your final play. There were so many things
the Bills, but it's like they decided, we just don't
want him to go over the top and beat us
with a touchdown, and we don't think he can do
what he's doing, and they just kind of watched it happen.

(35:02):
And I watched it happen and I said, oh my god,
Leslie Fraser, what are you doing? What are you doing?
You dropped it? I mean, how do you give them
a free twenty yards? Because you know what it's gonna be,
you know what's gonna be to twenty yard plays. That's
what the that's the Chiefs you're gonna do because you
don't because the Chefs are smart, they're not other teams
in the NFL, and go gee, I don't know what
to do here. You know you're going to get to
twenty yard plays. That's gonna get him into a final

(35:22):
field goal range. And they gave him the first one
and then they gave him the second one, and I
I really I fail to look at anything the Bills
did on those plays and saying, yep, they knew what
they were doing. Bills fans, they're gonna live with those
plays forever. They're gonna live with those plays like they
live with wide right. That's how much that that's the
wide right for a new generation. Because there's so many

(35:44):
things they could have done. All you have to do
is not have a team get forty five yards and
two plays. And guess what they got forty five yards
and two plays and then they kicked the game tying
field goal. That is completely on the Bills. As good
as Mahomes is there is in the NFL, thirty guys
could have made those plays. Here's a quick one to
Tyreek Hill. Here I gotta find Travis Kelsey, who somehow

(36:07):
is open, and there we go. Now we're kicking the
field goal. Great, I'm a legend everybody. Mahomes did nothing
special and that the Bills completely gave them that entire comeback. Well,
the biggest thing that you know, you you question and
you've got the legend now of that play of Kelsey
saying I wanted to get into an open space instead
of what the actual play call was, and then Mahomes

(36:29):
was yelling do it, do it like he was Ben
Stiller during his cadence, and well the rest now becomes
folklore and history as they moved to another a f
C title game. Do it really? It was so shy, Yeah,
it was. It was so shocking to see a team
that was built on aggression and making plays and look

(36:52):
and it was up and down the field. Obviously it
was a it was a prize heavyweight fight. But I'm
not saying, hey, al right, Bills, you gotta go out
there and defend for two minutes on my homes when
you're exhausted. You got defend for two plays. You really
only have to defend for one play, because if you
defend for one play and make it. Then it's a
Hail Mary all the way to the end zone. Right,
you gotta defend on one of those plays, just one,

(37:12):
and you couldn't do it. No one asked the Bills
to do too much. They just completely blew it. I
don't know if they overthought it or didn't think it enough,
but it was. It was just so shocking. And they
weren't playing the Jets where it's the Jets can't even
get the snap off? What what are we worried about? No,
you're playing a team that has just diced you up
and down the field. Oh, you gotta come with something

(37:32):
a little bit big. Because they have the timeouts. They
got the time outs, they're gonna call them right away
times like this is not the Dallas Cowboys that we're
gonna run and run into the official and Dat's gonna
hand the ball to the wrong person. No, No, the
Chiefs are gonna do it, and the Bills allowed them
to do it. I mean really, it's it's really difficult
as a fan when you know everything that happened was
completely avoidable. Alan with the heroics thirteen seconds left, that's it.

(37:57):
There's there's no way this should have happened. And yet
it did right as good as Mahomes is. This was
all on the build. Yeah, and as good as Allen was.
He lost the coin toss. So I mean that's not
Tales never fails. Don't you know that. Don't we have
to trade him? Yeah, tray listen, Hey, listen. Zach Wilson
always calls Tales. We'll trade you Zach for Josh Allen.
Right now, I'll get on the phone and get that done.

(38:18):
That could happen.
