(00:22):
Please you're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Greetings and welcome inside.
Happy Wednesday to a day where I hate baseball. I
hate baseball. Oh Shaw. Max Scherzer throws pitches in a

(00:42):
hundred and seventy four degree heat, and he was brilliant.
He's unbelievable brilliant. He strikes out Arrant Judge three times,
including unofficially officially walking DJ Lea Mayhew to p two
on in the seventh, specifically to face Judge because he
already punched him out twice. He punched him out a
third time. He comes off, He's like yes, and now

(01:05):
he realizes what it means to be a Met because
then David Peterson comes in and throws five pitches and
the game is tied. This is Mets baseball. I hate baseball.
Well four walks in a home run or for for
for balls, for a quick walk to Anthony Rizzo, and
then a bomb off the bat of Glabor Torres. That, Uh,

(01:27):
everybody here in the Fox Sports Radio studios in the
hallway just started cursing, screaming with glee, a lot of
it against you. It really was a blank the Mets
kind of no, come on, and it wasn't well take
that Smith. It's like, I don't know. I was just like, Wow,

(01:49):
we've got a tie ball game. Man. This is where
this is where New York Radio right now would be. Yeah,
we don't need one subtle we need we need relieve pitching.
Let's go get really pitching right now? Right Ho, who
do we go get eight seven seven, nine nine six?
Who do we go? Who the best guy to go
get right now? Eight seven seven? Not? But that's where
we're at, right I mean, looks at Dodger fans and

(02:10):
pundits here in Los Angeles. After a couple of losses
to the Nationals, we're getting all anxious and puckered before
that first ending today and then all of a sudden,
everybody breathes a little sigh of relief. Likewise, we get
into the Mets and the Yankees, the teams that are
at the top of their respective divisions and show a
little bit of potential problems with some of that roster.

(02:33):
And yeah, everybody gets a little bit excitable because they're
thinking ahead to to October. These are all quote meaningless games.
But you've got a very short window here ahead of
the trade deadline to where you could do something substantive
other than looking into your farm system. So yeah, the
tongues are wagging, the column inches are being filled, and

(02:55):
social media is running am uck. It's great. Uh and all,
by the way, guess who guess who ghosted me for
the last twenty four after the first inning of the
game yesterday? Ghosted me on Twitter? Ghosted me not to
ghosted me, No matters. Michael Fabiano, not Michael was not

(03:21):
not any of these ghosted me. The wasn't so four
hours after mocking your wasn't that great? Yes, welcome here anytime. Yeah,
I'm waiting for for the new open with Zoey's lines
from the show last night. No No, no ghost me
complete twenty four hours beginning of the get nothing nothing,

(03:42):
nothing but Libratorus hits that home run. Hey, guess who
suddenly found his thumbs and you see what's going on
right now. I'm like, oh, come on, man, I mean
twenty four hours, twenty four hours ghost me. But now
I just got a lot of petty in him. You
must my painting. The ask the rest of them. Now,
my dad decides, oh, I haven't had my phone. It's

(04:03):
been charging for the last Now he texts me back.
Now I get a text back from him. They've activated, Walter,
like in all those spy movies and everything that you're watching. Yeah,
he's been laying dormant for a while. Walter. Come on, Walter,

(04:24):
we know this all right now, Walter, we know u
homework Jason, that's the you know what I We've keep
waiting for that to come up with. Kyler Murray, stories
this your homework, Khyler? Is this your homework? Homework? Kyler?
Is this your first bad game? Are you kidding me?
Frostberg has been cutting one liners out of Lebowski for

(04:45):
the last seventy two hours. It'll be ready. We can
talk about how complicated other banks make it to redeem
credit card rewards, or we could talk about how with
Discover you can redeem me rewards for cash and any
amount at any time. I mean, talk about amazing, learn more,
discover dot com, slash right deem rewards terms they do apply.
Uh So, Mets and Yankees tied to a piece in

(05:06):
the ninth. I'm sure the Mets will find a way
to blow this, and so I'm sure it's happening. But
another Live Tour defection. Bubba Watson is now off to
the Live Tour. He has won two majors. He will
debut at an event in Boston later on this summer.
They are adding events gan now a fourteen event league

(05:27):
going into next year. Uh So, Now, Bubba Watson is
the latest star. Twelve career victories on the PGA Tour,
of course, winning the Masters twice in two thousand twelve
and two thousand fourteen. Got World Golf Championship titles. Uh
been Team USA Ryder Cup I think four times, uh
and a couple of Presidents Cups. So this is the
next guy to leave for the Live Tour. And this

(05:51):
is where I'm at right now, And this is a
storyline that seems to be taking over, and I want
to just call it out for all the holes that
are in it, right because now you're seeing this in
Charles Barkley has been the de facto head of the
Live Tour because, look, golfers are golfers. Bubba Watson is
only so popular in contemporary sports and media, and Phil

(06:12):
Mickelson is only so popular in contemporary sports. Charles Barkley
is incredibly popular across the board because the guy has
been the representative of basketball for the last twenty five years.
You want to know something about basketball, you go to
Charles Barkley, Right, That's what That's who Barkley has been,
and that's why he's getting the heat of the attention
with oh, he could be going to the Live Tour

(06:33):
to broadcast, he could be taking Saudi money. And you
know the story with with this tour nine eleven Jamal Kashagi,
everything is is really difficult. And to hear people say
the phrase blood money all the time, right, everything going
on with all of these with with all of these
people who have left to go that don't have answers
for this. But now you're starting to see this be

(06:55):
the defense and I can't stand it because it's you're
ignoring the facts of this story, right is that? And
a lot of it I see hot take on the
radio on on TV. And some of that I see
by the actual people themselves, whether it's Barklay or anybody
else defending their move to the live tour, is that
this is the popular thing now as well. There's lots

(07:15):
of products and things that we wind up using. There's
lots of places we go, there's lots of restaurants we
go to that maybe aren't owned by great people. You
don't know. There's products that we use that you know,
I don't know who makes the product, I don't know
who sits on the board of these of these different companies.
I don't know any of this, and and and you know,
but I use those And I could be using something

(07:36):
that's represented badly, but I use it. It's it's it's
kind of what I do. And I hear that, and
I go, that's just justifying taking the money to go
to the live tour. Because here's the difference between what
you're saying. In real life. We know exactly where the
money is coming from for the live tour, you know,
there's no question about it. No do you know who

(07:58):
what the who's on the board and who does things.
If you want to buy a car or if you
want to buy a house, or if you're buying a
certain kind of coffee or at the store. No, you don't,
okay that, but that's something I don't know. This we
all know, you know, so don't tell me. Oh, I
could be using some I could be using products as
somebody who are bad people know, but you know where
this money is coming from. So and have that be

(08:20):
your defense. It doesn't make sense and you're just ignoring
the facts of this is that you want to do
you want to do this, you have to be prepared
for Hey, get right with yourself that you're taking this
kind of money and you're taking money from people been
connected to nine eleven and the Jamal Kashagi murder. So
this is what you need to understand. And that's what
these people are doing. That's what everybody is doing now,

(08:40):
people on TV and on the radio doing it for
hot takes, but people who are actually going and are
justifying this is like, how do I get right with
this in my own head? Right? How do I get
right with the fact that I'm going to take this
ungodly amount of money and I gotta be okay with
it because I have some kind of conscience. So that's
how that's how this is gonna try to be sports

(09:01):
washed away. Well, there's so many other things you can
do over the course of your life where you don't
know who people who you're buying suff, you don't know
the car sales when you're buying your car from. You
don't know any of these things. So it's the same thing. No,
it's not, because that's something you don't know versus something
that you do know. This is all how do I
sleep at night knowing I'm taking this money and I'm
going to this tour and it's really something that I

(09:23):
feel dirty about, but I want to justify it because
it's money and I want to do it. That's why
you're seeing this defense right now. It's funny because there
might have been a guy on this show that started
saying that from the outset that you can do your
due diligence. Sure, it's not as transparent as this is, right,
it's a one to one, but in terms of different

(09:45):
economic products that you consume, where your money has invested
all of that, you could do the due diligence if
you wanted to, you could separate that out, but we don't.
And so in this case, you've got folks deciding to
take a pile money if they feel they need to
justify it, have at it. Otherwise you walked across the

(10:06):
street to a competitor and you're you're getting paid. And
that's that's the harsh reality, right is for the PGA
tour there you get a lot of folks that are
standing for them, and well, they haven't stood for for
everything properly through their years. Either we can do the
long history if we need to there, but you know,
everybody's standing on tradition, et cetera, and and trying to

(10:29):
cut down saying, well, they're not trying to advance golf.
What difference is it? What their objectives are. You can
agree with them or not. They're offering a product, they're
offering something for sale and offering guys to jump over
and take a giant pile of cash. And whether it's
Bubba Wattson, Charles Barkley, whatever else, on this pro am

(10:52):
that they're gonna do, Folks want to play in it.
They take their cash, and tongues are gonna wag one
way or another. Either you're you're okay with it and
just kind of shrug, or you you really want to
make your political statement. I don't think most people really, really,
in their heart of hearts, are in the political part

(11:15):
of it. Now, this one is just so obvious. When
you with the ties to nine eleven, then yes, it's
it's it's an uncomfortable conversation. But many others would just
say does the check clear and move forward? And you've
got to figure out where you are on that continuum. Yeah,
it look it. I'm not saying it's not a difficult choice.
I'm not saying when the Live tour calls and say, hey,

(11:36):
we were you're a terrific player. Yeah, thanks a lot.
Yeah we would give you a just playing where show
up for a lot of things. It's not it's like
it's getting paid to play golf. I'm not being played.
I'm not being paid to be a political ambassador for anybody.
But you also have to understand, Okay, if I do this,
it has ramific decisions have consequences, and this is a

(11:58):
consequence of your decision. You know where the money is
coming from, and okay, you're obviously okay with it. But
as I said, it is a tough decision. I'm not
saying it's not because it really is. I'd like to
think that I'm a person that if it can't like
if they did a radio equivalent of it, that I
would say, yeah, you know, no, I I can't do this.
I can't do this. You know there there there's there's
just no way. Now, if it's put in front of me,

(12:20):
how difficult would it be. I mean, I don't know,
but I just I I know this right now with
how I'm looking at it is that I'm not gonna
sit here and say I don't know who's in charge
a lot of companies, businesses I use I. I couldn't
say that and go oh yeah, I don't know. I
could you be using stuff from crazy amount stuffing. I
can't do that. There's no way I could do that.
I can't I I couldn't do that. Look my uncle

(12:40):
in in in the eye, whose best friend lived across
the street from and died in nine eleven. I couldn't say, yeah,
look at all this money I got from the living.
I couldn't do that. There's like, there's lots of things
that are that are really difficult with it. So I
get it's a tough decision, but don't sit here and say,
oh I want to just I want to just rid
myself of any blame and any responsibility because I just
want a clear conscience. By saying you don't know where

(13:03):
all the other products that that you're using come from.
That that's just a load of crap. That's absolute load
of crap. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harman weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio. That Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmen. We could talk about
how complicated other banks make it to redeem credit card rewards,

(13:24):
or we can talk about how with Discovery you can
redeem your rewards for cash and any amount at anytime.
I mean, talk about amazing. Learn more at discovered dot com.
Slash redeem rewards terms they do apply. Mike Harman, do
you know a broom salesman? Because I need to buy
brooms because I'm gonna go sweep my dad's hounds. Moolly's

(13:46):
gone on vacation. I'm gonna go straight look at Mr
Met with the broom in his hand, sweep in city field, sweep, sweep, sweep,
sweet sleep sweep. Two things. Number One, you've never swept
the damn thing in your life. That. When I worked
at path markt much time, I had to sweep and
clean the back room. That was part of my job. Man,
I was a cleaner, they called me. I was. I

(14:08):
was like Harvey Kite tell I was a cleaner. Okay,
perhaps that's the case, but that's a long time ago.
That's a lifetime ago. Do they actually sell team branded brooms,
because I mean it seems like you'd like to give
these like you would an edible arrangement or something like that.
Here is a broom to commemorate us kicking your ass. Now,

(14:28):
that is a great idea. That is an awesome idea.
A team a team broom to commit that comes in
a little gift box and then when they open it's
like oh no, yeah, and you can get the scores
on there. You can get a full size broom, or
you can get like a like a small size broom
you can carry with you know, and and and and
carry it in a bag and show it to somebody.

(14:49):
You can even get a broom that maybe does its
own self sweeping, that can move a little bit and
do the sweeping by itself. Oh, that would be fantastic.
That's what I would love. Oh, Now of modifying the room.
But that should be their next innovation and attachment that
goes over the top, that you can slap a logo
on and like, oh, here you go. Yeah, the Mets

(15:09):
room BA Mets, Mets, Mets, Mets room by room by
room by roomba, Mets Mets room but Mets not at all,
Mets Mets room but Mets Mets room bar roomba buddy.
Uh yeah, oh sorry, I'm sorry. I gotta explain the
millennials what what a sweep? Is? A sweep is when
a team wins every game in the series. In Major
League was two games, It doesn't matter. It was still
a series. It was still a series. The Mets sweep

(15:34):
the Yankees a walk off single by Starling Marte in
the ninth. The Mets left about seventy runners on base tonight,
but it doesn't matter because they win it by the
final of three too. They sweep the Yankees, who now
we're gonna have to go. Let's trade everything for one
so no, Eric Judge struck out three times? This was terrible.
Oh we lost both games to the Mets. Met Smiths Mets.

(15:57):
How long is Gencarlo gonna be out? What is it
mean for the lineup. What does it mean for hopes
of October greatness here in New York. Let's go look
at the Mets sweep in the yank You know every time,
and that's why knock Wood I want to say this
team is a little bit different because every time the

(16:17):
Mets look like now they're giving are giving away, they're
giving it away. They're extremely resilient. They win two out
of three against the Braves at the end of the
first half, they sweep the Yankees here and now their
lead is back out to four games in the lost column.
I'll tell you what resiliency that is a Mets trait.
I'll tell you what no resiliency here in July. Yes, Well,

(16:39):
because you always say, as you always say, the show
is tonight, is tonight? Do you say the show is tonight?
The show is not last night, The show is not tomorrow,
The show is not in a month, the show is not.
I don't know how resilient they never trailed. No, but well,
when when you're winning to nothing the entire game and
then hey, your work horse that we're paying forty million
dollars a year two comes out after pitching pitching his

(17:00):
hat's off and you tie. Let them tie the game
when five pitches. Yeah, that's a little bit of resiliency.
You need to come back from that. It's just a
reset m and you send Peterson up in to toss
some peanuts around. Yeah, no, no, no, it's time for
you to text my dad and text Fabiano and you
know what, be a better man. That's one of the

(17:21):
mantras of two, at least from where I sit, is
that the goal is to be a better man. Don't
be petty. Uh no, you know that sounds great yourself.
Here's the thing here, here's the thing is is I
I understand that, and I get what you're saying, and
I really should do something like that, because that is better.
It's all I always want to teach my kid, and

(17:43):
you know the girls I coach, Hey, do it the
right way. Don't wind up doing things where that you
get a little petty and petulant and you get a
little impestuous and and things happen. So, you know, do
things the right way. And then I say to myself, no,
screw it, it's more fun to text pictures of brooms
to my dad and one of my best friends because
they lose. Yes, I like that. I actually liked that

(18:05):
bit of pettiness and petulancy. I don't know if petulancy
is a word. Petulance, I think that's the word right there.
You're you're reaching for it, but you found that you
were in the proper locale there. No, I understand that excitement.
I mean it's certainly you know, when there's the White
Sox and Cubs series, there's always a little of that

(18:26):
going back and forth between some friends and myself. But
in the end, neither of us is generally playing meaningful
baseball in October, so it really doesn't hold a lot
of weight. Yeah, we're taking your ass on the way
to greatness. Alright, So we were a mediocre team and
we beat up a worst team. Whatever. At least this

(18:49):
has some juice, right, the battle for supremacy, two of
the league's heavyweights getting after a possible World Series. Previews,
all that nonsense that you probably he heard eighty seven
times speakuring each telecast just really informs how we're gonna
things come October. We're not Yeah, no, no, absolutely, Look

(19:11):
j Peterman is not pitching in the eighth inning, No, Elane,
you're fired. Uh no, this is exactly how it goes, Mike,
this is the you know, look, these are the biggest
two games of the of the year in baseball, and
the Mets one of both clearly clearly they want them.
That's how it works. Biggest of the year nine and
twenty one away from home. Though for the Yankees, that's

(19:31):
one thing you do have to circle and put up
on the calendar above five hundred, but not the level
of dominance that should come to expect. And that's as
much as I can try to sell any importance on
these two games, because you know what they were the
last two nights, oh and two, oh and two, oh
and two, and there Dad and Fabiano, you guys can
suck it. There you go, there's there's my broom text

(19:54):
to you right now. There you go. Marte with the
big single and runners on first and third, Escobars hard
and the apple was raised. Fabiano just texted me back,
You're still the second best team in New York. And
I'm texting him back. Not tonight. You played them nine times,
ten times. They may beat us nine, but not tonight. Tonight.

(20:17):
This is your time, uh. The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Carmon Live from the Fox Sports radio studios. Well
my dad, Oh oh no, my dad just texted me
back something I can't say. Come on, please, Fabiano, I
told you what Fabiano said. You're still the second best
team in New York. Uh And I wrote back, not tonight,
and my head broke down. Blanket and blank. You that's

(20:40):
my dad, wrote back to my dad, blanket and blank.
Oh that's my dad. You tell him, Walter, you don't
take nothing from nothing. You nobody start talking at him
like he's Spider. Yeah, well you saw what happened to Spider.
What though he went on his own terms, don't tell

(21:01):
me he had a good run. Spider did not have.
But look, if you're gonna if you're gonna go down,
I mean you stood up for yourself. There's a good,
important lesson to be had there. Yeah. Well does it
work if that's the last thing you ever say, is that? Well? Well, yeah,
I don't knew the risks, and you did it anyway.
You knew the red and you started singing my way

(21:22):
as you fell and lay there before they dug a hole. Jason,
you better be careful not to upset Walter too much.
You know what happens when you upset Walter, Right, what happens?
This is what happened. Bowling ball slammed into your stomach
and then he bites your ear off. I would walk
out and he's just he's breaking he's breaking the windows
of my car, and I go, Dad, that's not my car.

(21:46):
And then he takes off. Oh that would be awesome,
see my dad. Although my dad would like he would
take a golf club and do it, and then he
would probably hurt his shoulder not to stop and go, ah, Dad, sorry,
why is he slamming a crowbar into j j Aber
him his car? Didn't like that movie that much? Uh So, well, yes,

(22:08):
we'll have much more in the Mets. Maybe we'll bring
the post game live, will maybe do an interview, a
deep dive, like a thirty minute interview with Buck show Walter.
I think we gave it nine minutes. I think it's
you're not even getting the final call. It doesn't matter
because I can imagine it in my head. I saw
it live and that's all I need, That's all I
can do. Uh. Guess who wants the maximum extension in

(22:33):
the NBA? Draymond Green Uh. Draymond talked about this on
a podcast Surprise Draymond on on a podcast. Right, Uh,
you know what I mean? That's where you go. It's
it's a uh uh. Draymond Green wants the Maximum's contract
extension to stay with the Golden State Warriors or joking

(22:59):
may be half joking, half kiddingly, he would go play
with Lebron in l A for free. He says he's
worth every penny to Golden State and he's the reason
they got to the finals. These are all quotes from
from Draymond Green. Uh wants the Max. I'm I'm I'm
one of the big reasons why they wouldn't have gotten
the finals without me. And if they don't want to

(23:21):
pay me, I can go play with Lebron for free.
He's the greatest athlete of this generation. Who wouldn't want
to go do this? Okay, let's let's stop for one second.
We talked about Draymond Green. First of all, could I
give Draymond Green the Maximum? No? I can't because it's
very simple. He plays what he wants to. All Right,
He's thirty four years old. I just watched him quit
and not show up for two years before getting motivated

(23:44):
this year when the team was going to be good right,
And you know, maybe that makes me a little bit
more old school, but man, this is a guy. Really.
For two years he just disappeared, and I thought his
career was done and all he was doing was mailing
it in until he couldn't do it anymore. And now
this year Golden State was gonna be good. They got
Clay Thompson back, Jordan Pool turned into a borderline All

(24:04):
Star player, Andrew Wiggins continue to play well, hey, hey,
we're pretty good now. And then Draymond Green decided to play.
So I can't do it for that from a guy
who just got motivated. Now. The flip side of what
the Warriors will find out if they do not offer
the maximum to Draymond Green is they will find out

(24:24):
they could get along pretty well without him what he
is doing right now. He's a smart guy, all right.
Draymond Green's influence and impact on the game is not
what it was years ago. Defensively, he's still that guy,
but he's limited. Offensively, he winds up getting into foul trouble.
He sometimes takes his team completely out of playoff games,

(24:46):
which happened a couple of times this year. Draymond Green
is not quite the impact player that he was. But
he brings the attitude and he brings that visual of hey,
Draymond Green, we're putting our hard head on and we're
going to work tonight. That's what Draymond Green brings. And
you know what, that's a lot of bluster and that's
a lot of window dressing. But that doesn't win your

(25:07):
games because you know what, every team in the NBA
plays hard in the playoffs, teams that want to when
they all play hard. But Draymond Green wants to give
you this image that he's still the same guy, and
he isn't. And you know because this is what he
is doing. If he was a guy that was deserving
of the maximum, he wouldn't have to do this. He
would just let his agent take care of it and say,

(25:28):
you know what, Yeah, I'll get paid. They're gonna pay me.
If not, I'm gonna get the money someplace else. But
the fact that he is now holding this over the
warrior's head, you need to give me the maximum. I
could go someplace else and I'll play for nothing. He
is trying to use that momentum of a championship in
the fact that he played hard this year to to

(25:48):
bully the Warriors into giving him that money, and the
Warriors not and the Warriors know hey, and right now
I'm sure they're looking at it. How would we get
along if we didn't have Draymond Do we have to
give him thirty million dollars a year for the next
four years? Do you really want to be hanging Draymond
Green thirty million dollars a year when he's thirty seven
years old. The answer is no, you can get along
well without him. You can find another guy to play
pretty good defense in the middle of that. Yes, is

(26:11):
would he do it as well as Draymond Green in
his prime? No, he wouldn't, But Draymond Green is in
his prime anymore. You can find somebody that can play defense.
With that system, you have enough guys that can score.
If Draymond Green was going to get that money, if
he knew he was deserving of it, he wouldn't have
to do this. But now I want to fight this battle,
and I want to pressure Golden State because I want
the overwhelming pressure to be they have to give me

(26:33):
the money, because I want the fans to be so
upset that I could leave. I want the media to
to push this I could leave. We can't have Draymond leave.
The pressure for you to give Draymond Green that money
is gonna be overwhelming. And if the Warriors capitulate to it, Yeah,
would the deal be okay for a year? Maybe the

(26:53):
last two three years of that deal forget. It's why
we You know, we got Draymond who's really not playing
anymore because he's skipping games to record his podcast. I mean,
I understand why he's doing this. They would get along
without him pretty well. He is now a replaceable part
on that team. He brings the attitude and he and
he does that and I get it. He brings defensive
intensity and he's still a good player. But he wouldn't
have to do this if he knew he was still

(27:14):
a great player. He's trying to pressure Golden State into
this knowing full well he's not worth this money, not anymore.
Was he worth it five years ago hundred percent, six
years ago hundred percent, hundred percent? He was because he
was that kind of lynchpin for this team. But he's
not now. And you can't pay a guy for what
a guy did when you're paying a guy going forward. Hey,
he got paid pretty well. Dollars. He did really, really well.

(27:36):
You're a big superstar. You're gonna go on on inside
the NBA when you're all done, or maybe next year
if Charles Barkley goes to the Live Tour and you're
gonna go make a ton of money and be a
voice of basketball. But you're not gonna bully me into
giving you thirty million dollars a year when it's not
a good move for us to do it. Yeah, he
is some of the what you had there at the
end of the You can't pay him for the past

(27:56):
unless you've just decided as a business here, here's a
giant contract. Does a thank you, right, And what you're
trying to ascribe a value too is the intangibles, all
of that fun stuff, right, seven seven seven, Those are
the averages for him. You saw him step up in
several of those finals games, and then he had a
couple of disappearing acts. Overall, you take it as the

(28:19):
w But when you have your leverage, when you're singing
after winning, right, So Draymond Green reading the tea leaves
and seeing what's out there and certainly feeling himself a
bit with the podcast success and all the sound bites
that people have run with, why not do this as well,
because it'll play out in the media and lots of

(28:39):
debates and lots of people coming to his side like
it ain't my money. So have added if you think
that he's necessary and he's gonna make Steph Curry happier,
that he's there as an agitator, as an enforcer, as
a another coach on the court, than than have added
from a straight basketball perspective. Hell no, you you move on.
But you're also talking to the econ mix of the

(29:00):
game right all the the forecasting of of where we're
headed with rights, fees and whatever else. And they obviously
make a lot of money. They've had no qualms about
going into luxury tax payments in the past, and that's
something you know, lake Up has has been pretty open
about saying it's like, we're okay with that. As long
as it gives us a chance to win, we'll we'll

(29:21):
pay into that pot. Well, does Draymond Green keep you there?
You know? Do you do the fan the old fans
deserve it? I don't. I don't really buy into that
you deserve twelve guys in the jersey running out there
and trying to play basketball and win. Do you deserve
him to stay based on past successes. I don't know.

(29:42):
You'd like to run it back to a degree, but
you gotta look at the player he is and how
much you're going to get out of him. A lot
of a lot of these veteran players, it's the same story, Jason.
What are you getting sixty five games maybe on the
upper end during the regular season, and then you hope
that they're ready to play and give you a full
on max effort come the playoffs. And we know Draymond

(30:04):
is gonna at least give you that. It's not always
gonna be a great output, but I'll give you that
the effort come playoff time and he'll be available. But
you've also got to start looking down the road. If
he left, it would seem awful, but the Warriors would
replace him. Be sure to catch live editions of The

get into Mike Trout coming up in a couple of minutes.
But this is this is just as good, Mike. This
is just as fun as the Mets beating the Yankee.
The Yankees are now running around so panicked after they
get swept by the Mets. This story is about four

(31:08):
or five minutes old. Ken Rosenthall and Jeff pass And
both reporting this. The Yankees are getting Andrew Bennettendie from
Kansas City in exchange for three minor leaguers Andrew Bennettendi
and everybody on social media Yankees fans going, oh this
is what we do. Oh we got Bene Deddie. Bene

(31:29):
Deddie's great. Look we got Bene Deddie. Uh yeah, yeah,
you lot to the Mets. And now how panicked are
you do? We gotta go make a trade? Who we
lost in the Mets? What do we do? What do
we do? Oh? We're chickens with our heads got off,
running around, running around, Yeah yeah, yeah, okay, that's great,
they went and got Benettendi. Congratulations. This means this means
you're never gonna lose the game the rest of the way. Oh,

(31:51):
they're panic because I got swept by the Mets. Here's
my celebratory diet seven up ah. The veritable pot pourri
of diet sodas making their way through the Smith household.
It seems like every day you've got some new sponsor
over there. Three home runs, thirty nine RBI, hitting a

(32:12):
robust three one, a good forty one above his career average.
But he can't play in Canada, and it's it's it's
a move that I just go. Okay, they reacted, Aaron Judge,
everybody else, Oh this is great for us. Like he's

(32:33):
not throwing pitches, right, He's not a guy that's going
to go in and steal a bunch of bases or
create chaos that way. No, look Ben, it's it's solid
solid player. Yes, he is a solid player, right, but
not a difference maker three minor league ers. Okay, you
take the shot, you bring him in and it's an

(32:55):
extra bat, so so fine, but is it world beating
and and it's just fortification And that's the thing. The
Yankees didn't need to make a move for a world beater.
Perhaps in the on the pitching side, there's still a
big move to be made, but you know, in terms
of your lineup and the run generation, you need a

(33:17):
guy to be a placeholder a bit and and help
keep the line moving while Stanton's out. But otherwise, you
know that part of the game is just fine against
everybody except the Mets. Of course. Yeah, Yankee fans, it's
like they went out and got Wan Soto. Look at
what it's being aggressive. It's a guy that once upon

(33:39):
a time was a pain in the ass for the
for the Red Sox when they mattered, and here you
had it. But look the look, the whole thing is
that Cashman doesn't want to make a bold move, right
And we talked about this last night, to be real
about the Yankees, because now this is like, this is
such a great night. Now we sweep the Yankees, they
have to go make a trade. Um, Cashman isn't going

(34:01):
to make the big, bold move. He's not gonna go
make the big trade for Juan Soto. He's not gonna
make them because he's afraid of the guys. He's giving up.
He is they have driven to the middle of the road.
The Yankees used to drive in the fast lane, right
they were the they were in the left lane of
the auto bonn. We're going as fast as we can.
We're gonna go get players whoever we need to. It
doesn't matter to us. And in the last few years

(34:23):
they've stopped doing that, maybe because their farm system has
gotten really, really good again. And it has and they're
afraid of saying, but if we trade this guy, but
that's what happens. You wind up not getting aggressive and
instead of going to get a Wan Soto saying all right,
this is this is this is their move. Now. I
get they don't want to break up a team that's
in first place. They got eleven game lead or ten

(34:43):
and a half game lead. I understand that. But you
have a chance you'll get a great player. And this
is the new typical Yankee move is we're not gonna
go get the big superstar. We're going to go get
the guy who is a solid player to confident. It's
like it's like they keep getting Nick Swisher over and over,
run over and over again. That's what they're doing. And
that's fine. You know, he fits a role and perhaps

(35:06):
there's still a bigger swing to go before the trade deadline.
You know, it's Frostburg and I'm going back a little
a little bit on this. It's just the idea that
they're being active, and that's all you can hope for
from your squad. Yeah, you want to take the big swings,
but if you can do some things incrementally. I just
kind of chuckled at the reaction to this move. We

(35:28):
look at the Yankees. Oh, it's awful, isn't it. It's
so awesome Twitter and out about a fresca. Mike gets swollen. Dumb. Hey,
we got that big injury to Mike Trout coming up next,
as well as another big story out of the NFL.
