Consumer New Zealand thinks Air New Zealand is being a bit tight with its credit rules. 
Right now, you can receive a credit if your flight is cancelled because of traffic light changes. 
But if you're booked to fly for an event, and you don't want to travel because that's been cancelled, then you’re out of luck.
